It is Zach Yelp's show coast to coast on CBS Sports Radio. We are coming to you live from the Rocket Mortgage studios. Whether you're looking to purchase a new home or refinance yours, Rocket Mortgage could help you get there.

Promo solutions that fit your life. Well, Rocket can. All righty. I saw this tweet during the break, hot take hickey. You want to guess who is the latest to join in on the fire Nathaniel Hackett party?

You need some hints here. I don't know if you saw this on social media. I did not. It's starting to go viral. It's only been up for about two hours.

That 1,160 likes, you're getting already over a 200 retweets, so it's starting to pick up some momentum. It's not Russell Wilson. Broncos country.

Let's rise. Let's fire Nathaniel Hackett. No. Russell Wilson, with his Fugazi sandwich, the Danger Witch, is not eating a sandwich that already, I guess the sandwich, can you say, got canceled or pulled off the menu.

It's not Russell Wilson saying, let's fire Nathaniel Hackett. Do you need a hint? Yes. One or two, if possible.

It is not someone associated, to my knowledge, with the NFL. Does that help you at all? Sure. Oh, you want to take a guess here?

No, that just closed the pool from 1 million people to 500,000. Well, it helps you a little bit, because if you would have guessed someone else, you probably would have guessed someone with the NFL, right? Yes.

Like a prominent analyst, or? Right. Former player. Former player. And current player. I accidentally retweeted the old butt retweet, like Cam Hayward did.

Oh, yeah. Likes the tweet, hey, we need to fire Nathaniel Hackett. Oh, what is Jerry Judy doing on social media?

Something like that. So no one with the NFL, I'd assume. It is someone associated with the NBA. The NBA. Nikola Jokic.

Has ties to Denver, too. That's another hint. It's not the Joker. NBA, Carmelo Anthony. Carmelo.

Wow. Anthony. No, not Carmelo Anthony. Oh, fooled. I guess from the city, but still. He is the sixth winningest coach, has the sixth most wins in the history of the NBA.

Ties to Denver. It's not George Carl, is it? It is George Carl.

George Carl's firing off about Nathaniel. Isn't that a coaching fraternity, one and the same, no matter what sport it is? Funny you say that, because he mentions that in the tweet. I always support coaches and would rarely advocate for their firing.

But. Hackett needs to be done in Denver with the Broncos. The search needs to begin immediately for someone who can connect with Wilson and make him a player again. Nathaniel doesn't appear to be that person. That is from the 2022 Hall of Fame coach, former Nuggets coach George Carl from his verified Twitter with 114,000 followers. He is saying, fire Nathaniel Hackett.

How long before he says, I was hacked. I love Nathaniel. I love my coaches. Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.

You can't pull. Who is the guy for me? Jay Williams. Jay Williams. Remember when he was like, oh, congratulations to the Celtics for finally hiring a black coach in Imeu Doka.

And everyone's like, Doc Rivers and about six or seven other coaches that they had in franchise history. And then he goes, oh, I was hacked. That wasn't me, yes. I was hacked. When it's something like that opinion, and it's so specific, like with Jay Williams and George Carl, there's no way that he could say that he was hacked. Here's a dumb question.

I think I know the answer, but I'm not sure. If they were to listen to George Carl, they fired Nathaniel Hackett today. He said, start the search immediately. George Carl coaching the Broncos next year. I guess in theory. Can't be any worse than Hackett. Could they technically hire if they wanted to Sean Payton like tomorrow?

Yes and no. If they wanted to bring in Sean Payton, they could. But remember, they have to work out a trade with the New Orleans Saints.

Now, here's the weird part. The trade deadline is a week from today, right? That is correct. Next Tuesday. I don't know if the trade deadline is also for coaches. How would that work? Better fire them faster, that's for sure. Also, I don't think Sean Payton would walk into that job in season.

No, I would agree. But if we're going to just get nuts here, let's get nuts. Let's get crazy. Let's get crazy. OK, we'll get crazy here. Now, if I'm running the Broncos, I would try to get ahead of this because you know what's going to happen. There's going to be another job that becomes available.

It's going to be more attractive than the Denver Broncos. Oh, you weren't here on Friday, right? I was not. So you weren't here when we had Peter King on. Did I say Peter King on? Mm-hmm. What? Is that like that crazy?

Yeah, that's pretty, that's great. I like Peter. Yeah, no, I like Peter. Peter and I, we've known each other for a long time. He's the big time guest.

He's been coming on my show since I was in high school. So yeah, we had a big Friday show. You weren't here, we had a big Friday show. We had Quinn and Williams on from the Jets. We had Wandell Robinson on from the Giants. We had Peter King, oh, and Jersey Jerry, of course, in his weekly pick spot. I'm going to play this answer when we come back from breaking a little bit.

But this is what I'll just let you chew on. Peter King said the Broncos job, not attractive. Questions about Ross?

Offensive weapons not as good as what they were thought out to be. He does not think that job is attractive because I asked him specifically about Sean Payton. And I have to go back to the answer. But I think that Peter in the answer said that he thinks the Panthers job right now is more attractive than the Broncos job. And you're going to say, wait, what? And Peter, I'm pretty sure he made the case because of the names they have on defense and all the picks that they just got. You could have the number one overall pick, and then you're going to have picks brought back in for the second, third, and fourth, and then the fifth next year that he believes that that Panthers job, it's more suit to building with the Broncos.

It's like right now pressure cooker, and you don't even know how good Russell Wilson is anymore. So how about that, Mr. Bronco country leader, let's ride, hot take icky? That's, I think, a hot take.

I don't think so. I'm not telling you necessarily I would pick the Panthers over the Broncos, but that is not an attractive job in Denver. What's attractive about you play in a AFC West where Justin Herbert's there and probably Brandon Staley's going to get fired at the end of this year. So I'll actually get a competent coach. You have Patrick Mahomes in that division, and your quarterback hasn't shown you any signs that he's actually a good quarterback this year.

And here's the other thing. Who really wants to play with Russell Wilson right now? Doesn't seem like he really connects with his teammates anymore. All of his former teammates are dumping on him.

No one after him, rooting against him. What you got to figure out, right, if you're a prospective head coach. But I mean, I will say with the Panthers, sure, you could have possibly the number one overall pick. You have a few extra picks on the CMC trade, but you have an inpatient owner in David Tepper. You're taking a risk on a quarterback. Well, sure, we don't know what Russell Wilson is, right? There's fair questions. We also have no idea whatever rookie quarterback you're going to draft, how that's going to turn out.

More fail than succeed. But the point is, overall, if you are Sean Payton, I'm not, first off, I don't think the Panthers get a deal done with the Saints. And number two, I don't think Sean would be interested in the Broncos. If you're Sean, you're only coming back for the right job.

And you know what the right job is. It's the Chargers. That should be the move that happens this offseason. Sean Payton going to the Chargers.

Tell me I'm wrong on that. That immensely improves their coaching staff in LA. And Justin Herbert deserves better than Brandon Staley, who's just so analytics, analytics, analytics, and doesn't even trust his gut when it comes to making these decisions. I know that team's hurt. It could be the, it's a bad storm, but it could end up being a perfect storm because that team should have been a lot to make the playoffs this year. If you miss the playoffs and that gets Staley out, I think that's a win long-term for Los Angeles Chargers. Oh man, feel the Chargers without a doubt. You can get Sean Payton with Justin Herbert and all these weapons. Yeah, I mean, for Sean Payton too, it's in LA, but I don't know if he's living in LA, at least doing the show out there.

So you can already stay in a nice sunny place. You got your quarterback, you won like, I would agree. I can't argue with that. He will either be the coach next year of the Chargers or the Cowboys. Those are the two jobs I could see him taking, barring a unforeseen job that has a coach retire or just something that we're not seeing right now. Like he's not going to Indianapolis. I don't think he's going to Carolina. I don't think he's going to Denver. Dallas could open. The Chargers should be open.

Those are the only two jobs I could contemplate right now that Sean even takes the phone call for. Dallas and then the Chargers. Here's one. Now this is just speculation, throwing it out there for fun. Can I guess? Sure. I actually don't even need a clue here.

I think I know you well enough here. Is it a team in the NFC? It is. Is it a team in the NFC West? It is.

Is it a team that you can't stand their current head football coach because he dresses like you and you think he's just like all about fashion and not really about football right now? What? You're a P Carol?

Oh no, no, no. Talk about Cliff Kingsbury. Oh. He's always well dressed. You know, it looks like he's a GQ model. Like, does he really care about football?

He's a good looking guy. The Cardinals, it has to be the one that you were talking about, right? No. Oh, in the NFC West? It's not the Cardinals?

No, sir. That is in, like, if we were making the bar right now, the Chargers, like what could be possibly more attractive than the Chargers, right? Did you say the Rams?

You just have a tire. Yeah, but Sean McVay, he just signed the new contract extension. I think all that talk goes away. I'm just, I'm asking.

No, no. I don't, you know, this is a bad season. They missed the playoffs. I mean, Sean Payton just retired after missing the playoffs because he called it, you know, just an absolutely grueling year. You had Sean McVay thinking about, I don't know how serious he was, if it was just a contract ploy, but at least publicly was flirting with ADF retiring. They missed the, I'm just, I'm just throwing it out there. I'm just trying to see what other possibility.

Now with you, I think the charters right now are by far and away the best job realistically for Sean Payton. You still got some pockets tonight? No, that's sober. The Rams. You sure? What if Sean McVay retires?

Can you pass a drug test right now? I actually think I would still take the chargers over the Rams. Well, yeah, long-term.

If both were open. Yeah, long-term. Aaron Donald.

Well, even short-term. Aaron Donald, he was on the show, the questions that he did answer, he was talking about retiring. Jalen Ramsey, he's good. Stafford, not better than Herbert.

I'd rather have Herbert over Stafford for the next five years. Same. But it's rare to kind of talk about. And there's more offensive weapons on the chargers. Yeah, Cooper Cup's great.

But other than Cooper Cup, what else do you got? I'm just, I'm just ready to talk about, you know, a Super Bowl team that just came off for a championship, you know, being less attractive than a team that hasn't made the playoffs in five years. Would you take the Rams over the chargers?

No, I said I'd take the chargers. That's what I thought. I'm trying to think who could ever, who could also be that oddball one. Now this wouldn't happen.

Can I give you one that won't happen? But if it did open up, it's one of those destinations that you never think would get Sean Payton. But if I'm Sean, I would run there in a second. You would run there.

Run there in a second. Not the Steelers. Oh, no, no, no. Mike Tom's not going anywhere.

Who says like it happened? And that's an attractive destination in terms of the organization of the Steelers. Let's just say, listen to this one. Now, this is an organization that kept around Marvin Lewis. I'm talking about the Bengals for the longest time. Now Marvin Lewis did a good job changing that culture around to the Bengals.

And they consistently got to the playoffs and they just never won. Bengals don't make the playoffs this year. I know Zach Taylor was just in a Super Bowl. But if you could get Sean Payton, don't you have to get rid of Zach Taylor to bring in Sean? Oh, and Harpy.

And you're just back challenging. But he's not deserving to get fired. He just got this team to a Super Bowl. He was a coach of a team to a Super Bowl. It's got to mean something. But if they missed the playoffs this year and Sean calls them up and says, I want to coach Joe Burrow, how do you not say, yeah, I'm in?

You can't. You're 100% right. You're Zach Taylor, sorry.

Short end of the stick, you're out. Could the Dolphins still be in play? I know everyone loves the media darling and Mike McDaniel right now. And they're four and three. Remember, they did flirt with one another before. That was well documented in the tanking stuff for the Dolphins still in play.

I would say no. I think they've turned over a new leaf. What about the Jets?

I know Robert Salas, five and two. Let's say they only win two more games the rest of the year, which I don't think is likely. And Sean wants to go there. Do you get rid of Robert Salas for Sean Payton? Oh yeah.

It doesn't make the playoffs. Oh, sorry, Robert. Like, good coach. But I think- You called him Robert. What do you want to call him? I know that's always what, like, I don't have, I feel like everyone just calls him Robert Salas. I've never heard someone call him Sala or just Robert. It's always Robert Sala.

He's one of those guys where he's a full first and last name kind of guy. But if they make the, if the Jets make the playoffs this year, are you keeping Robert Sala over Sean Payton? If they make the playoffs, I think he got it. I'll take Sean Payton. I'd rather have Sean Payton, but if the guy makes the playoffs this year, yeah, you know what? Sean Payton calls you and says, I want the Jets job. You're right, you're right, you're right, you're right.

You're 100% right. I would want to work for Woody Johnson for whatever godforsaken reason. So if we can make five destinations here for Sean Payton, Cowboys in order, Cowboys, Chargers, who would then be the other three?

Who are the other three? Cowboys, like realistically, right? Like we're not talking fairyland here. We could throw one magical team in there.

I would say the, I don't think putting the Cardinals on this list is being totally outlandish. No, it's minuscule maybe, but I don't think it's out of the realm possibility that a Cliff could be fine. I don't think they'll get rid of Cliff Kingsbury because they just extended him through 2027. But if Sean Payton wants to go there, Cliff. I think, bye-bye.

I think, yeah, they'll have no problem moving on from that if you could find, or you know he's in. So possibilities here. Cowboys, Chargers, Cardinals. I don't think he'll take the Broncos job, but you got to throw the Broncos in there. You have to put it on the list. Do we put the Panthers on there? I hate to say Panthers over the Colts.

Trying to think what other job could be. So those would be the five. And then if you had to throw one Bizarre World in there, which one would be your Bizarre World?

Like one that's not going to open up, but you would just. I will say the Rams. I'll go double down on my Sean McVay.

Okay. I'll go with the Bengals. It's never going to open up, but I would love to see Sean coach Joe Burrow.

That would be fun. And this is Zach Gelb show on CBS Sports Radio, as we just had some wild Sean Payton speculation. What's up everybody? Guess who's hosting a new podcast? No Mercy with Steven A. It is Zach Gelb Show on CBS Sports Radio. This was Peter King with us on Friday when I asked him, is the Denver Broncos job still attractive for let's say a top coaching candidate like a Sean Payton? Is Denver to you still an attractive job with the way that the roster is currently constructed or does Sean maybe look elsewhere this all season?

Well, I mean, what job is it gonna be open? You know, Carolina's gonna be open and you have to ask yourself, okay, telling Sean Payton that you can pick because, hey look, the season ends today and they're already going through the tanking of business. If the season ended today, they got the first pick in the draft. That is, imagine being able to say to Sean Payton, this is an above average year for college quarterbacks coming out in the draft.

You can pick anyone you want, that's your guy. And you know, so that is an attractive way to look at it. But look, if Russell Wilson continues down this path this year, that's not an attractive job.

What would make that an attractive job? They're in a parable division. I mean, a very competitive division rather. And the quarterback might be finished. So I don't know, Payton would have to think I can fix Russell Wilson, and maybe he does. And then, you know, you just don't know what's gonna happen with other teams the rest of the year.

Who has a really good quarterback? Are the Chargers gonna, you know, gonna implode? I don't know.

I just, we just don't know. So not knowing what jobs are gonna be open and not knowing for sure that Payton would come out this year anyway, I think it's a little early to tell. So that was Peter King with us last week before we knew that Russell Wilson wasn't going to play up against the Jets.

But Hickey, let's get into that conversation just one more time. Let's say if Russell Wilson doesn't really show you signs the rest of the way. Does Sean Payton think that he could fix Russell Wilson and that's why he would take that job? Or does Sean Payton go, I'll go elsewhere. I just dealt with an older quarterback, someone that was in decline, but was still winning games in Drew Brees. But when the moments got the brightest, he was not healthy.

And that prevented me from winning another Super Bowl. Cause that's, I think that's gotta play a factor in the mind of Sean Payton as well when it comes to Russell Wilson. If Russ doesn't show you signs this year of really turning it around. Yeah, I get it, Russ is much younger than what Drew Brees was towards the end.

But not everyone is able to play at an elite level or close to an elite level in their late thirties into their early forties. Like we've seen guys up until this year, like Brady and like Aaron Rodgers has been able to do as well. I think that could play a factor without ending with Drew when you have a guy, but he was no longer the guy on why he would say thanks, but no thanks to Denver. I have no idea if Sean Payton will think he could turn on Russell Wilson. I guess the one thing I'll say is I don't think Russ's age would be as big to turn.

I know with Drew Brees, it didn't end well, but also Drew Brees like 38, 39 years old. He was, his body was breaking down, couldn't say healthy. Russell Wilson does not look good. I don't think right now it's physical. I think it's more mental. I think it's more just him trying to do too much.

Then let's say his body failing him. So then what was it the last year and a half? He hasn't played good in a year and a half.

It's almost been two years. It's not crazy for a player once you get to the age of 33 and then next year, he'll be 34 by the end of next month in November. That's kind of a normal age up until Brady and up until guys like Favre and Rogers where guys start to slow down a bit. Not in 33.

It's not crazy. He's 34 in November. I mean, there's nothing that gives off reasons to think his body's in decline. It's not like he's under throwing balls left to right. We can't complete a 10 year pass. Now dealing with the shoulder, now dealing with the hamstring. His style of play is just all or nothing.

And it's not conducive to sustainable drives. Do you remember how old Peyton was? Talking about Peyton Manning around ballpark range when the Colts said goodbye to him?

No idea. So he is now- He's in 2011. I'm gonna need to do some math here. Peyton Manning is now 46. So we're talking about what, 11 years, 12 years ago?

So probably 35-ish. And the Colts thought that he was starting to be in decline because of the neck injury and everything. Now- Well, he has to prove it wrong. Yeah, he did. But what I'm saying is we get into this mode of every quarterback's now gonna play into the 40s.

It's not always built that way. And Russ is not the biggest guy in the world. He's taken a lot of hits. You just wonder when that starts to catch up to you that not where he goes from being elite to being a bum, but being elite to being a guy that can't win a Super Bowl.

I don't think that's out of the realm of possibilities. And we've seen this year that there's been a leadership problem and the guy just hasn't played a lot of good football. I got a funny tweet that I think you'll like from Matt E in Wisconsin. He suggested a three-way trade. You wanna hit the three teams? Packers, Saints, and Broncos. Nathaniel Hackett back to the Packers to be the offensive coordinator.

Okay. Jordan Love to the Saints, Sean Payton to the Broncos. Who says no?

I think that's check, check, check. You know, Rodgers would be on board with it. You know, the Broncos would be on board with it. The Broncos are the biggest winner of them all here. They trade Hackett back to his old team. Sean Payton goes to Denver. That's a big win for the Broncos, for the Saints, all right. Yeah, you're playing Andy Dalton and James Winston.

Why not just take a flyer on Jordan Love? Not like Sean Payton's coming back to coach your team. I think the Saints would maybe say no because I think you need a pick attached to it.

Well, I think about it. You're getting, you're getting a possibly, again, a lot has to go right, possibly your franchise quarterback. You know, it's like, for a coach that's never on a coach for you again.

That's, I would take that, I would take that chance. Matt in North Carolina, next up on the Zach Gelb show. Matt, what'd he say?

Hey, Zach, there's one more destination you haven't mentioned and maybe it's too close to you for you to see it. The Patriots, could Bill Belichick mess this up so bad? Oh, don't get me wrong. I, well, he's not going to get fired, but I hammered Bill Belichick before the season. I don't care. Well, I want Mack Jones to start, but it doesn't matter if it's Mack Jones or Bailey Zappi that starts. He's not putting either in a position to succeed because you have two Bozos and Matt Patricia and also Joe Judge playing an instrumental role on the offensive side of the ball. And there's not a number one wide receiver there, but no, I don't think, to answer your question, I don't believe that Robert Kraft at the end of this year and thanks for the phone call. And it's a, it's a fun suggestion and a fun conversation, but there is no way at the end of the year that Bill Belichick's gonna get fired by Robert Kraft. I think Bill at least deserves another year to get a go at it.

I'm just going to go out on a limb here out there, Kiki. Would you do it? No, no. You would not.

If Sean Payne said tomorrow, I am, I want to come to New England. I want to work with Mack Jones. No. Fire Bill.

No. Do you ask Bill, be the defensive coordinator. Maybe ask Bill to just be the GM.

Oh geez. The defensive coordinator. You know, I know you're in the dumps right now with your football team and you're trying to kick me when I'm down a little bit, I will go right through that glass right now, like the Kool-Aid man burst through a door and kick your ass. Do you realize how lucky and how elite you have to be when we're talking about Bill Belichick getting replaced by Sean Payne and you're making it seem like that's the biggest slap in the face in the world?

It's disrespectful to the hoodie. Now him as GM, I would say. Now I hate Ben Volin, but the only way I will ever like Ben Volin, if that troll, trolling Volin, goes to the press conference tomorrow.

Hey, Bill, Ben Volin here. Got a DM on Twitter that suggested that Sean Payton may want the job in New England. Would you step aside or maybe just go to GM role if Robert Kraft asks you to do so because Sean Payton wanted the Patriots job? Bill, you're a believer in the best man always plays. What about for the head coach?

I'm doing my best Bill Belichick right now, just sitting inside. The 10 second pause? Yeah.

Okay. That would be Bill, literally Bill at the podium. When we get to first year coaches in college football right now, who has been the most impressive so far? Sonny Dykes has done a heck of a job. The Horned Frogs are undefeated.

They're seven to know this is fourth job as a head coach in college football. Duggan, who wasn't even the guy before the year, has been sensational. Dan Lanning, after week one, everyone said it was gonna be a down year for Oregon.

Oregon just beat UCLA. They have not lost since week one. And Bo Nix has actually been consistent. Not only consistent, consistently good. Lincoln Riley has, I guess you could say put USC back on the map, has brought excitement back to USC and we'll see if they can win the Pac-12 and maybe on one loss find the way into the college football playoff.

And here's the guy, because of his dances and the way that he's faked an accent to say family and my Tyga family. And Mr. Brian Kelly, I thought they were gonna win last weekend against Ole Miss because Ole Miss has really played no one this year other than Kentucky. They destroyed Ole Miss last week at LSU. And this is kind of a building year for LSU, even though they have a lot of talent. When a new coach, like to me, I didn't consider LSU to be that much of a threat.

And they're six and two right now. And they also beat up on Florida in the swamp and they're ranked top 25. Who's done the best coaching job this year, first year head coaches in NCAA? I know his record's the worst out of the coaches we listed.

I'm gonna go Brian Kelly. Really? He got roasted as soon as he left Notre Dame for all his fake accents and he just got made fun of for his recruiting videos, for the accent. Well, they were deserving of making fun of. Oh, rightfully so.

Rightfully so. LSU is a pressure cooker where they just fired. Edwards are on lesson two years after winning national title. You'll lose in a heartbreaking fashion week running against Florida State to rebound the way he has to wear their back to being a top 25 team. You just dismantle a top 10 team and Ole Miss at home. Again, there's not a lot of talent at LSU this year.

I think the expectations are still high and for how bad it started, I'll give them credit for turning it around. Now, I asked this question, who's doing the best job? Who's doing the most impressive job? How did I ask you that question?

Most impressive, I believe, is the way you asked it for me. If it was impressive, I would go with Lincoln Riley because with Lincoln Riley going there, he brought in Caleb Williams, he brought in Addison and I thought USC was gonna be good this year. I didn't think I'd be saying that USC would be back this year.

And now it feels like USC is back. So impressive it's Lincoln Riley, but the best job, I gotta go with TCU. The Horn Frogs are seven and O.

Seven and O. And Max Duggan wasn't even supposed to be the guy because of injury he gets on the field and I know he's had experience before. And that's a coach that when he was hired, Sonny Dyke wasn't a sizzle hire, he's been a head coach in three other places. I never would have thought they would have been seven or no in a big 12, by the way, which is damn good this year. I gotta go TCU with Sonny Dykes. Now, maybe a coach that isn't off to the best start in the world.

I'll give you two. Start off good week one for Billy Napier ever since. This has not been great. Where's your conference level in Billy Napier and then Marcus Freeman, as you have two mega brands in Florida and Notre Dame, where for Florida have been wondering when they're gonna start to trend in the right direction again. And then for Notre Dame, they were so consistent under Brian Kelly. Well, they always be really, really good.

They would get that obviously because Notre Dame they're in the national spotlight whenever they got into a marquee game like last four teams remaining, they would get exposed. But where's the confidence long-term for Marcus Freeman and then one Billy Napier? I feel better on Marcus Freeman right now than Billy Napier simply for the fact of right now Notre Dame does not have a quarterback. They went to Tyler Buckner, he's stunk, and I was gonna be their guy. He got hurt week one and never came back.

So now you're playing with the backup of a quarterback the entire year. Now they've been bad, but you look at Florida, I mean, we were talking about Anthony Richardson as a possible first round pick, top 10 pick after that week one win against Utah. And he's regressed since like he's not looked very good.

He's been very inconsistent. And so you got a guy that with talent, he's raw talent, and you've been unable to develop his game or bring him along in a progressive way, not the best start for Billy Napier. And it's not exactly, again, you don't have a lot of time and you don't have a lot of time at either place, but especially when you have a quarterback that has talent and you kind of botched that right away, it's tougher to believe in Billy Napier going forward. I think it's set up easier for Marcus Freeman to succeed because he was already on that coaching staff for a year. And he was popular with the players now, players rotating out now in college football. But Notre Dame is set up just on an easier road than when you look at Florida, you're playing right in the thick of the SEC. So I think it's tougher for a Billy Napier. So if I had to pick one guy long-term that would have more success, yeah, I would lean Marcus Freeman over Billy Napier.

And this is Zach Gelb, show on CBS Sports Radio. Closing bell next, we'll tell you who's stock is booming, who's stock is dooming. Is there something really absurd that skews you out? Getting a paper cut on my eyeball. A fear you can't shake. I'm gonna leak ocular fluid on my cheeks.

It's gonna go into my mouth and I will perish. Whatever scares you, I wanna talk about it. Join me, Larry Mullins, on my new podcast, Your Weirdest Fears. Listen and subscribe to Your Weirdest Fears on the Odyssey app or wherever you get your podcast from.

Learn more at navyfederal.org. How about Cowboys Defense events? Sam Williams, he had himself a Sunday as he registered two sacks at a fumble recovery as Dallas beat the Lions 24 to six.

Williams helped the Cowboys Defense Force five Detroit turnovers and keep the Lions out of the end zone. Let's get to the closing bell. Another day is in the books and we're taking stock of the sports world. It's time to find out who's up and who's down.

Let's end the day right and hit the closing bell. Only on the Zach Geld Show. So we're just talking about Sonny Dykes before the break. How about the quarterback Max Duggan? The last four weeks, beat Oklahoma, beat Kansas, beat Oklahoma State, beat Kansas State. In those four games, 11 touchdowns to only one pick and that's just 11 passing touchdowns. He also had two rushing touchdowns against Oklahoma, a rushing touchdown against Kansas and a rushing touchdown against Oklahoma State. That's 15 touchdowns in the span of four weeks by Max Duggan and only one interception.

Give him a stock up. Hickey Heisman hopeful. 19 touchdowns, one pick if they're undefeated. I don't think he's going to win the award, but he should be a finalist in New York City when we go over to the Heisman trophy ceremony.

Without a doubt. We got a ceremony this year. We supposed to go together last year.

I was just going to say, you got to be going this year. And I got the COVID and I was there. I was cleared that Saturday and I said, I don't want to be around Aiden Hutchinson and give him the COVID.

So that's why I didn't go even though I was technically cleared. So you saved, well, I think I got blown out, but if there wasn't an actual title, you said you could have saved Michigan from touchy losing out. So all I'm going to say is as long as I'm in the clear with the COVID this year, I would anticipate me making a triumphant return to the Heisman trophy ceremony. I got to be a big deal this year at the Heisman after my cameo in the Manti Taylor documentary. I think I'll go to the Heisman trophy and people are like, oh, Heisman trust, that's Zach Gelb. He was in the Manti Taylor doc asking a question at our event.

As seen on Netflix. As seen interviewing Manti Taylor about his fake girlfriend. That's what they're going to put on my credential.

All righty. I got to give a stock up to Brian Kelly. You mentioned it. Deservedly so got trolled all throughout the summer, early on in the season, the way that game ended against Florida State. And then he just opened up a can of whoop ass this weekend against Ole Miss. Give Brian Kelly a stock up. Bo Nicks. Bo knows. He now knows how to be consistent.

He's been great for Oregon, the ducks back in the college football playoff conversation, stock up to Bo Nicks. Phillies and Astros. They're in the world series.

It starts on Friday. The Astros are stories, Dusty Baker, and trying to win another world series since the cheating scandal, which to me that's not even a big deal anymore. And for the Phillies, Bryce Harper, trying to get his first ever world series championship trophy, that piece of metal, according to the commissioner, Rob Manfrood, give a stock up to the NLCS, the NL champions, AL champions, and the Phillies and the Astros. Sam the man, Sam Ellinger. Now the starting quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts for the rest of the season. Never thought I'd be saying that. Give Sam Ellinger. He's back.

A stock up. The Seahawks. The Seahawks are four and three. Gino Smith is playing better football than Russell Wilson. Pete Carroll.

Oh, it's no surprise. He's coaching circles around Nathaniel Hackett. But I can't believe that the Seahawks are four and three. Give the Seahawks a stock up. Got to show some love to Josh Jacobs.

He's been cruising as of late. The Raiders beat the Texans 38 to 20, but Josh Jacobs on Sunday, 20 carries 143 yards and count them. Not one, not two, but three touchdowns. Give a stock up to Josh Jacobs. PJ Walker and Taylor Heinecke.

I still can't believe it. PJ Walker from Temple defeated the Tom Brady and then Taylor Heinecke. He defeated Aaron Rodgers. Give both those quarterbacks a stock up. Joe Cool, four and three, one passing yards, four total touchdowns as the Bengals get a big victor as they smoke the Falcons. Give the Bengals a stock up.

All righty. Frank Reich and Matt Ryan. Frank Reich, you're a dead man walking. Matt Ryan, they don't believe in you and they actually feel bad for you.

They're like, go grab some bench. Give a stock down to both Frank Reich and Matt Ryan. Doug Peterson, 17th to 13 game. Fourth and one, you go for it. When you had a chip shop field goal, you take the field goal 20 to 13. Worst case, Giants get a touchdown. They go for two, you lose.

But since you went for it, you didn't get it. It's 17 to 13. Giants go right down the field. They score a touchdown and you lose. You've got to take the points in that scenario.

I love Doug Peterson, but give him a stock down. The Packers and Bucks. P U it's been ugly. You just did that a gift on Twitter Hickey with the way that you made that facial reaction. I'm talking about. Yeah.

He just didn't like the yikes. Ugly. The good news for the Bucks is they'll probably still win their division. The Packers better hope to get a wildcard spot. Oh, and by the way, do we have Aaron Rodgers from today on the Pat McAfee show saying that the players who aren't getting it done need to be bench.

Let's listen up to Mr. Rogers. We had so many just mental errors and mistakes. It's just, it's not the kind of football we're used to playing. You know, guys who are making too many mistakes shouldn't be playing. Guys start cutting some reps. Yeah. Maybe guys who aren't playing, give them chance. It doesn't sound like Rogers and Matt LaFleur or Rogers doesn't like Matt LaFleur these days.

Last week it was, we got to simplify the offense. Now he's telling the coach, we need to pretty much not play some of these guys that consistently keep on making mistakes. Is LaFleur on the hot seat?

Is there, I know he's 13 and three 13 and three 13 and three and this year it's not going their way. If would Rogers at the end of the year go to Brian Goudekoutz and say, you want me to come back next year and not leave me with a hundred million dead cat pit? Get rid of the coach and Matt LaFleur.

I think the Packers would choose LaFleur or Rogers. Maybe I'm crazy. That would be a massive mistake.

A hundred million dollars in dead cat? Well, also you just play hard ball. They've played it before. First off, Rogers is crazy, but I don't think Rogers would actually go to Goudekoutz and say we're going to fire Matt LaFleur. I could see it.

I think it's more unlikely than likely, but anyway, Packers and the Bucks, they both stink, give them all the stock down. The Yankees going home, got swept by the Astros. The Astros are the Yankees daddy. And Aaron Boone, what a disgrace that was. Oh, it's the wind.

The roof was open in Houston. The Scrace stock down to the Yankees. Brandon Staley. I don't see how this guy's going to survive this season. Now the injuries start to pile up, but he doesn't have his team really ever prepared. They don't really seem to respond to him. They say, yeah, we really like the coach. We embrace his, embrace his aggressive style, but that team just has never clicked with him. I got to give a stock down to Brandon Staley.

And I think you'll enjoy this one. Jimbo Fisher. Just lost to one of our favorite programs, South Carolina over the weekend, 30 to 24. Now before the year, I forget who we had on, but someone said, I'm like, they're probably still a year away, but there's going to be a lot of pressure on Jimbo Fisher. I don't think he's going to get fired, but he's going on to the start of next season with man.

That seat, it's getting turned all the way up in terms of the intensity on the heat meter. I think Jimbo will be back, but yikes. You better hope Connor Wigman ends up saving your job.

Give a stock down to Jimbo Fisher. And that's the Zach Gelb show. Oh, CBS sports radio on a wonderful Tuesday edition of this extravaganza. I can't wait one more minute. And then I get to fully lock into this third period. That's about to start between the defending Stanley cup champion, Colorado avalanche, and the New York Rangers. Ranger's going to go right before the end of the second period. It's one, one going into the third period. We'll be back tomorrow for a take five Wednesday.
