Welcome to Truth Talk Live. All right, let's talk. A daily program powered by the Truth Network.

This is kind of a great thing, and I'll tell you why. Where pop culture, current events, and theology all come together. Speak your mind. And now, here's today's Truth Talk Live host. Our ministry is Date the Word, and it's my joy today to welcome you to Truth Talk Live. I've got a question, and I sure would like to have you call in and weigh in on my question today.

Here we go. What did you find to eat for breakfast this morning? Now, there's a little bit more to this question than physical food. I want to know, what did you find to eat for your spiritual breakfast this morning? I had the chance this week to talk with a group of ladies that live in a ministry and teach women's leadership classes.

I taught two of them on Monday and four of them on Tuesday. I just had a blast. But each class I asked this question, what did you find to eat for breakfast, your spiritual breakfast? And the reason for that is Jeremiah 15-16 says, Your words were found, and I did eat them, and they became the joy and the delight to my heart. For I am called by your name, O Lord of Hosts. Jeremiah 15-16. I asked the question, what did you find to eat that's going to nourish your spiritual soul, that's going to help you to have the food that you need so that you can go forth during the day?

And we call this really a quiet time. And to answer my own question this evening, Deuteronomy chapter 3 verse 28 is the verse I have for today's date. Moses said God commanded him to command Joshua and encourage him and strengthen him, for he shall go over before this people and he shall cause them to inherit the land which you will see. And I found that verse for this date, and it just reminds me that as we presently lead, we're to be preparing leaders for the future.

Part of our responsibility is to have someone ready to take our place and really do more than we have done. I also read Proverbs 28, today's March the 28th, I always read a proverb that matches the date, and there's some great verses in Proverbs 28, the wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion. What did you find today for your quiet time? And we're going to talk about the importance and the essential of having a quiet time, 1-866-348-7884, that's the number to call, 1-866-348-7884.

And we'd love to hear what you're doing for a quiet time. Let's encourage one another. And with me today is Joey Yokely.

Joey is the FCA Area Director in the Winston-Salem-Yackeville area. And Joey, we want to welcome you to today's program. Well, thank you so much, Dr. Carson.

It's great to be on today and to share some time with you. Well, hey, what did you find to eat this morning for your spiritual breakfast? Well, for my physical breakfast, I didn't have anything today, but my spiritual breakfast was fantastic. I've been in Psalm 119 lately, and studying through there. And this morning, and really all this week, I've been working through verses 49 through 56, and really just looking at the blessing it is to live a life in obedience to God's Word, and specifically verses 49 and 50 today. Remember your word to your servant in which you have made me hope.

This is my comfort and my affliction that your promise gives me life. And just thinking through the goodness of God's Word and of his promises this week, and the way he's worked in my life lately has been fantastic. And really, as I looked at the passage, it really talks about keeping the law and just thinking about how I fall short in that and how Jesus did not fall short in that for me.

So that was my spiritual breakfast this morning. He is the perfect sacrifice, and you and I are the reason he needed to be perfect because we blow it all the time. We just don't keep his word. Psalms 119, it's one of the richest passages in all of the Bible. I think only one verse doesn't speak about the Word of God, and each verse just tells how important God's Word is. It's a lighter path, a lamp unto our feet. You hide God's Word in your heart, you will not sin against him.

I love that. Tell me about now, with your quiet time this morning, I'm thinking you probably had a prayer time as well. Yes, sir.

Yes, sir, most definitely. I think it's always important to pray before we go into God's Word. Obviously, in Psalm 119, that God would open the eyes of our hearts. Psalm 119, verse 18.

I think so, yes, sir. So praying before I'm in the Word, praying after I'm coming out of the Word, because I know that God is always nudging me through the Holy Spirit and how I can obey him better, and then finding a prayer out of that as well. But then also, you know, I'm sure you do, I'm sure most of us do, we have a prayer list that we're working through about people that we're praying for.

In my sake, you know, with Fellowship of Christian Athletes, there's students that I'm praying for, there's coaches that I'm praying for, there's my staff that I'm praying for for donors, and just trying to work through that and watch how God works in our lives. Well, Joe, before we go into our first break, just tell us a little bit about what you do as the Area Director. How many schools, huddles do you oversee? So we have 38 high schools in our area. We're overseeing Forsyth, Davie, Davidson, Yadkin, Surrey, and Stokes Counties, and we are working to see all the kids in those schools.

We have over 100 huddles, which is basically our Bible study unit, and we're excited about kids coming to Christ. Well, when we come back, we're going to learn more about the things you do. We'll be right back. You're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com. Welcome back to Truth Talk Live on this Friday afternoon, March the 28th. Today we're talking about what did you find to eat for your spiritual breakfast this morning. I want to be asking this based on the fact of are you having a quiet time? What did you have for your quiet time?

And as you got into God's Word, what did He say to you? Give us a call at 1-866-348-7884, and let's talk about the importance of a quiet time. We've got a lot of believers who show up on Sunday morning. They get a meal from the pastor, but then they think that's enough. And I've got with me Joey Yokely.

He's the area director for FCA in the Winston-Salem area. And we know that it's not enough just to have a meal on Sunday to sustain us spiritually the whole week. We need to be getting in God's Word daily. And Joey, as you work with FCA, you were telling us you've got 30 different schools, a hundred and some huddles. What are some of the things you guys seek to emphasize as you work with these student athletes? Our mission is to see every coach and every athlete in a growing relationship with Jesus and His church. And so we're continually trying to have our young athletes.

We've got over 25,000 student athletes between middle, high school, and college in the Winston-Salem and surrounding counties. We're wanting them to engage their friends with the gospel. We're wanting to see them equipped in the Scriptures, and we want to empower them to make disciples. And so we're continually pushing kids to God's Word over and over. With FCA, do you guys have a devotional book for them?

FCA is an international ministry and has been around for 70 years, so we have a lot of resources. We have a coach's Bible that has 365 daily devotions for coaches as well as a scripture in it. We have a similar Bible for students. We have Bible reading plans in the Bible app.

We have devotions that get sent out every day called the Daily Impact Play into athletes' inboxes and on social media as well. And then we're also just trying to get kids just to be in the Word and teach them some different methods on how to study God's Word. Excellent.

Excellent. I love FCA because the thing that will change a person's life is Jesus Christ, and He uses His Word. His Word is truth, and He sanctifies us with His Word. But for us to get the world out of us, we've got to get the Word into us. My ministry, Date the Word, has that same kind of idea. We want you to be getting the Word into your life each day so that it brings you to that place. And you talked about it a few moments ago where you now obey what God wants you to do, and obedience brings blessings.

I believe it was Chuck Swindoll that said, first time I ever heard this, obedience opens doors of opportunity. And there's just something about when you decide, I'm going to do what God says, He opens the windows of blessings upon your life, He opens doors for you that no man can close, but it means you've got to get in the Word. And as I started my spiritual life, I was told to memorize Psalms 1. And in Psalms 1, Joey, there's this verse 2 that just says, But the light is in the law of the Lord, and on His law He meditates day and night. And that sure changes things because the thought for me growing up was that church is a once a week thing Sunday morning, and here I'm learning, I'm supposed to be in God's Word and thinking on it, thinking on it night and day.

I share with these ladies a concept I've been learning from Stu Epperson. I call it B-B-B-B-B-B-B. You know, you've got your B2 vitamin, you've got your B12 vitamin, well here's a B3 spiritual vitamin. Bible at breakfast, Bible before breakfast, and Bible before bed. The three B's done twice, Bible before breakfast, Bible before bed. And the scripture for this is out of Deuteronomy chapter 11, because in Deuteronomy 11, Moses says to the people, Therefore ye shall lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall teach them to your children, this is verse 19, You shall teach them to your children, speaking of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, watch this, when you lie down, and when you rise up. Well there's Bible before bed, and Bible before breakfast. And I gave this concept to these Liberty students, and I said, You need to be every morning, every night, spending some time in God's Word, and getting God's Word into your life, and then your mind's going to be set on God. That brings a peace, Isaiah 26-3, and His Word's going to bring about transformation. But it means we need to be, again, being intentional about being in the Word. We'd love to hear your thoughts on this.

Give us a call at 1-866-348-7884. What did you find to eat this morning for your spiritual breakfast? And how important is it to be having God's Word on a daily basis, with this idea that I give credit to Stu Epperson on the first time I ever heard it, Bible before breakfast, and we might want to call it Bible at breakfast, Joey, instead of just Bible before, because sometimes you get two birds from one stone, and then again Bible at bed, just as you're headed to bed, get into the Word, and let the Word just cover your mind.

Your thoughts on that, Joey? Yeah, I think that, you know, you mentioned Psalm 1, and that's actually one of my favorite passages as well, and as soon as you said it, that's actually one of the ones that I love to talk to our students about, because they are thinking about their lives as teenagers. They're thinking ahead about what's going to come next. Are they going to go to college? Are they going to get a job, a girlfriend, a wife, a family? They're constantly thinking about future, and we talk to them about if you want to live a life that bears fruit, it takes meditating on His Word day and night, because right after that you see that picture of the tree planted by the stream, and the life that you have when you live in obedience to God's Word. Yeah, over and over you find from God's Word it says we will prosper when we're in God's Word, when we obey. Now, for some of you, you're going to need to go to the TruthTalk Truth Network app, as we're going to go into different programming for others. Stay right with us, we'll be back after a few advertisements. This is TruthTalk Live!

Welcome back to TruthTalk Live! Friday afternoon, March 28th, 3-28, and a great Bible verse for 3-28, Deuteronomy 3-28, but command Joshua, and encourage him, and strengthen him, for he shall go over before this people, and he shall cause them to inherit the land which ye will see. This verse to Moses, you've got a responsibility, Moses, you've got to equip Joshua, you've got to encourage Joshua, you've got to get him ready, he's going to take your place, and he's going to lead God's people into the Promised Land.

He's going to lead them into the future, and part of our responsibilities as leaders today is to be preparing the next generation. That comes from the Daily Devotion, from Date the Word, you can find it on the Date the Word app, you can find it on the Date the Word website, www.datetheword.com. You can get a Daily Devotion every day by signing up, we encourage you to take a look at it, as we're trying to help people to connect God's Word in a unique way, and today, 3-28, Moses is being told, get Joshua ready for his new ministry, his new assignment, and I think that's something that's crucial in the work of the ministry, we get young people ready for the next assignment, and FCA is a ministry that does that. I've got with me Joey Yokely, and he is passionate about getting God's Word into young people's lives, primarily into athletes, but not just for athletes, FCA has a very wide, broad ministry, but they work through coaches, and Joey, again, thank you for being with us today.

Tell us more about FCA and what its objectives are, and how you are playing a role in making those objectives become a reality. Well, you know, FCA is all about seeing every coach and every athlete in a growing relationship with Jesus, and, you know, FCA is in over 100 countries around the world, where, of course, all across the United States, we're behind the scenes of a lot of things that you might even see on TV. We have FCA chaplains on NFL teams and other pro sports at the Olympics. Of course, many, many college teams have FCA character coaches or chaplains, and then we're, of course, in many, many, many local high schools and middle schools, and even on all the way down to travel ball teams, and we really want to see, indeed, that next generation take up the mantle of the faith and to lead forward. So we're, on the local level, our FCA staff are working with athletes who are already Christians in many ways, and helping them to lead an FCA huddle on their campus so that they might lead their friends to Christ and help them grow in their faith as well.

We're on travel ball fields doing something similar. We're in coaches' offices praying for coaches and trying to help them grow in their faith because our coaches are so incredibly important in the lives of our young people, our coaches and teachers are. And so we're excited to be making a difference locally here in the area. We've seen over 150 students come to Christ since the school year began.

So God is doing some amazing things. Did I hear – say that number again. How many young people have you seen saved so far? Over 150, over 150.

Our last count was 150, but it is definitely over that. That deserves an applause. Congratulations. Thank you for that kind of ministry. Heaven rejoices.

I was reading that in my devotions today, how in the presence of angels there is rejoicing when one comes to know the Lord. I can hear 150 this year, and I would think you still have some other events coming up for more students to get saved. Tell us about that. Yeah, we have one big event coming up in just a couple weeks at Reagan High School in Winston-Salem. We have a Fields of Faith that their FCA is putting on.

That's at 7 o'clock on April 10th. It's a Thursday night in the football stadium at Reagan High School in Winston-Salem. We would love for you to join us for that. You're going to hear some amazing testimonies of students, some great music, a good speaker.

And the thing about those Fields of Faith things is hearing those students give their testimonies of how God's worked in their life and seeing them in front of hundreds of people have the courage to do that is just an absolutely amazing thing. So we'd love to have you join us on that night. We've got another event similar to that at North Davidson High School on April 27th at 5 o'clock in the afternoon.

There there's going to be the Word of Life, which is a different ministry, but we work alongside of them. Word of Life is bringing in a trampoline dunk team from their campus up in New York, and they're coming to put on a display and then share their testimonies as well. That's at North Davidson High School on April 27th at 5 p.m. So a couple of big things coming up for us in the month of April in terms of students. We've got some other stuff that's exciting, too.

But those are our student activities that you could come and be a part of. Well, I really appreciate you telling me about North Davidson on April 27th, 5 o'clock, Word of Life Dunk Team. I'm in Florida right now hosting this program from Clearwater Beach because I'm here with Word of Life this weekend. And I love this Word of Life ministry. When we think about a quiet time, I don't know if there's ever been a ministry that's been more geared to making sure that young people know how to have a quiet time and provide them tools like Word of Life. And so I just make a quick plug for you listeners. Check out Word of Life Ministries also along with FCA. Joy, that's going to be a great event.

April the 27th. I just wrote that down to get it on my calendar because I live there not too far from North Davidson. If I may, can I go back on the field of faith? This is not something that you alone are doing. This is something that's being done all across our country right now? It sure is. There are fields of faith all across the country. You see them on high school football fields, on college fields. It's an exciting student movement where students are sharing their testimonies, worshipping together, praying together for their schools. And we're seeing probably thousands of schools across the country who are doing this. And it's just an amazing outpouring. We've had six of those in our area this school year.

And we've seen attendance from just over 100 kids to 600 kids at those in our area. And it's a wonderful, wonderful movement led by students to share their faith. I think about a listener right now that does not know that much about FCA and these field of faith events. So if a student would make a decision, what's going to take place after that?

How do you guys follow up? That's a great question. And that's a big, big deal because we're not just about presenting the gospel, we're about making disciples.

And that's the call on all of us as believers. And so we obviously have kids either fill out a card or we actually have a texting tool as well that they can use. And then our staff, our local staff people are following up with the students. If they've indicated they go to a church, we follow up with their pastor or youth pastor or church staff person.

Sometimes they just indicate their school. So we follow up with their FCA teacher sponsor as well. And then we have obviously, as we've talked about, we have a lot of resources that kind of can start kids from the very beginning of their faith and carry them on towards maturity. We have that both in written form and then also in things like videos and online stuff too. So that's one of the big things that we're about is following up with those kids because we want to see disciples making disciples.

I love that statement, disciples making disciples. If someone wanted more information about FCA, what's the best place to go to just get a good understanding? What was the website? If you're nationwide, fca.org. It's very simple, fca.org. Locally here, Yadkin Valley FCA. Yadkin Valley FCA. You've got an event coming up. Shortly.
