Has anybody ever out there ever had a second chance? Is God the God of the second chances? Have you ever read Jonah chapter 3 verse 1?
And the word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time. So I'm standing next to a man whose name is Chance, who's had a second chance. Who is Chance? Talk to me.
That's a great question. Chance actually means something is about to happen. I don't know what's going to happen but something is about to happen in your life. God invaded my life on April the 30th, 2003. I was fresh out of jail. I was born and raised in church.
The best drug I ever did is my parents drug me to church. If that's you out there, that was me. But I made a few bad decisions and it put me in a place that I never wanted to be. And I needed help. My family couldn't help me and I got out of jail. I was practically homeless.
And I ended up in a ministry called Teen Challenge. And on April the 30th, 2003, I got down on my knees and God gave me a second chance. And my life's never been the same.
It's never been the same. The name Chance in Hebrew actually means humble spirited. And my life was all about me. I was an athlete.
Came from a great family. But I was prideful, if I'm going to be honest. Life was all about me. And so God humbled me. God was setting me free. And my life has never, never been the same. One little yes can change your life forever. And so we started a ministry. It's called Second Chance. All because of our story and our testimony.
My story has led to a store, which I just spent some money in to get a bunch of blanks I can put Truth Network on. What's going on over there at Second Chance Closet? And then we got to talk about this big giant yellow house that's like hundreds of years old here in Jamestown, North Carolina.
I know that's true. We're right here in Jamestown. My wife started an upscale thrift store at 124 East Main Street, Jamestown. And it's up under our ministry. All the proceeds go back into the nonprofit so that we can help people find Christ.
And so that God can give them a second chance. And so it's a nice place. You should come. And you've been all over the world.
I mean, Ethiopia, you've been, you just came back from there on your way to South Africa, preaching the gospel, Central America. You're passionate about winning souls. Let me ask you to describe that passion. So great question, Stu. If you walk in our store, you'll see this banner. It says somebody helped us. We're here to help you. And I love that because I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for people praying for me and helping me even until this day. And so we're just here to give back locally, internationally.
And so it's fun. You just never know what God's going to do. There's a little teenage guy who is hitting dingers on the baseball team on his way to college baseball. Ever think he'd be standing in a in an old antebellum, whatever you call it, mansion in the middle of Jamestown, helping people with a thrift store preaching the word of God all over world published books. I mean, what in the world? I know I have to pinch myself. It feels like a dream. It really does. This wasn't in my portfolio or my five year plan. But every day with God is, is is new.
It's brand new. You've got these books are right over your shoulder. Look at this right here on the road to recovery. You just blessed me with this book forward by Don Wilkerson, of all people, a 48 devotional to overcome addiction. And you got this other book here starting strong 365 days, this thing's thick, but man, you're getting a lot of folks that are touched.
Tell me describe these books and why they're so important to your story and to helping others find Christ. Well, this starting strong book is a big book. It was never intended to be a book. About five years ago, I started writing daily devotionals every day. And it was supposed to be a month, it turned into two years. And so we took 365 of them put in put them in a book.
So this is literally a piece of my heart. I need to go back and read it myself. Because so many people just say, Hey, man, that book is good. And so it was written with God.
Early in the morning in my prayer closet. But the second book was written in honor of teen challenge on my 20 year salvation birthday, April the 30th 2003. I wanted to write a devotional directly to the attic. So this book is really simple. It was written as if I was sitting across the table from somebody struggling with addiction.
And so this is a 40 day devotional to help people overcome life controlling issues. And so it's good as well. Don Wilkerson was David Wilkerson's brother. David is in heaven right now. But Don's still alive. And so it was an honor for him to put his stamp of approval on this book. But if you know somebody struggling, this would be a great seed to sow into their life.
Yeah, the cross and switchblade all that a lot of good, good stuff there. Don Wilkerson, his brother now, chance. People listening out there who are stuck in addiction. They think I'm done. God's done with me.
It's over. What would you say to them about the God of second chances? I would say God knows your name. God knows your pain.
There's nothing that you've done. That would make God throw you away. If you call out, I'm telling you the name of Jesus is powerful. So get down on your knees, humble yourself. My name is chance.
And I'm your friend. But this is what I did. I got down on my knees. And I cried out to God and he is real.
I would say give him 30 days, give him everything and see if it's not true. How can folks learn more about your ministry, your books, this second chance, closet, remarkable store, revival, I'm wearing a hat right now that says revival on it's pretty cool that you just gave me thank you for that you really bless me. But how can you learn more about your business, your ministry. So in your ministry, and, and find the resources you've made available to so many real simple chance Walters calm, chance Walters calm, but then we'd love to see the store, the second chance closet right here in Jamestown. And then we have a second store the second chance outlet is furniture and household goods is on Main Street, pleasant garden. And so come see us people are bringing their, their sweaters and things, coach hats, other things that that are still in the store. That are still in good condition that they got too much of we all have way too much junk, and they're dropping off the store donating right they get a donation for Yep twice on seed, you give to us and then we bless the next family, and it goes back into the ministry so so I just I spent 50 bucks buying a bunch of apparel that I'm going to turn into truth merch because that little they know that I'm going to show up and get them to put my logo on it so we can reach more souls and bless listeners and other folks I may work some of that myself give my son in law, a piece, Christmas is coming up sometime this year right but chance that money is going to go where that I spent to buy that that those great items of clothing at your second chance closet.
I know we've got one goal is souls. And so the stores are volunteer ran all the proceeds goes right back into the ministry and we host International Gospel Crusades locally internationally is just amazing to see what God's been doing in our, in our ministry. So it's like it's like depositing into a spiritual bank and they literally have, they're literally in an old bank building on Main Street in Jamestown this town is so quick just come here just to check these guys out coffee shops everywhere. My buddy Greg's got this kindred coffee next door these other folks have this really nice bakery I mean just you got black powder barbecue. Did we do some damage in there or what I'm going home to take a nap. Have you ever had a brisket burger at black powder barbecue. No, but I've had a double brisket burger.
I saw I saw that thing go down the hatch I'm like, how's he, where'd that thing go man. Amazing. It's a great place your challenge out there there's 3 billion people on our plan who've never heard the gospel we're going to get out of here I'm still ever seen this is true talk we're in the middle of Jamestown we're in this beautiful house is kind of like become a second chance house right yeah second chance home. So in some neat things are happening with your ministry chance Walters.com for folks to donate support get your books be a blessing have you come out and speak you'll speak to a stadium you'll speak to a small group we're going to bring you to the lodge and Winston speaker new Canadian guys chance your challenge out there to everyone listening about reaching others with the good news of Christ, winning souls he that when the souls is wise it says in Proverbs 1130 there's 3 billion on our planet who've never even heard about Jesus.
What say you to them as we wrap up. I know I think it's everybody's right to hear the gospel at least one time in their lifetime. I've heard the gospel. Hopefully you've heard the gospel. We're saved, but there's so many people that's never had the opportunity. So give them the second chance, give them the opportunity, and you're praying for revival and what happens when we start to wake up what happens when we start to share the faith if everyone listening to my voice right now would just share the gospel, share the truth with someone what would happen. Well, it'd be a domino effect.
Yeah, we'd have another great awakening, which we'd so desperately need. Okay, so get out of here your favorite verse. What's your verse that you like kind of hang your hat on from Scripture that goes comes your heart, well there's many but Psalm chapter 40 verse one says I waited patiently on the Lord and he turned to me and he heard my cry he lifted me out of the slimy pit and out of the mud and the mire, and he set my feet on a rock. He gave me a new song to sing a heart of praise to my God so that many will see and place their hope in the Lord. Psalm 40 verses one through three.
