Welcome to Truth Talk Live. This is Peter Rosenberger. Glad to be with you, 866. three four truth eight six six Three, four, eight. 78, 84.
If you want to be a part of the program, I have an interesting. Thing I want to share with you and topic, and I think you'll find it interesting, and I'd like to hear your thoughts on it as well. as far as Scripture goes, Do you ever hear the same passage in scripture many times? Over and over and over and over. And then all of a sudden You read it.
Like you're reading it for the first time, and maybe a phrase or even. A sentence or just a couple of words jump out at you that you've never even thought about before. Have you ever done that? And you're like, wow, I never even considered that before. And there it is.
And it's been staring at you the whole time, but but for whatever reason, we just kind of gloss over it or whatever. I talked about this for Memorial Day, for example. I saw in the genealogy of Jesus in Matthew, which is, you know, the genealogies are tough to read sometimes. It's kind of tough to sit through, and you go through that and maybe the book of Leviticus and things like that, and you're thinking, okay, let me get back to the good parts.
Well, it's all the good parts. It just requires something a little bit more of us to be able to dig deeper. And in the genealogy of Jesus, for example, you see. Uh Solomon Who was the Um And he said he was the son of David by Bathsheba, who was Uriah's wife. You know, and Uriah was put into the genealogy of Jesus.
Yeah. First off, do you come from the perspective that all of Scripture is breathed, inerrant inspired Word of God superintended by the Holy Spirit. And if you feel like the scripture is up to debate of whether or not it's accurate or not. then that's a different conversation. I come from The belief and understanding that Scripture is the inerrant inspired word of God.
And when The Holy Spirit superintends. by the wife of Uriah, It's there for a reason. And it was a situation where God preserved the name of Uriah, who David treated poorly. And Uriah was not even Jewish, he was a Hittite.
So that's one that stepped up to me.
Well, I had another one. that did that I was in the Gospel of Mark. And reading this. And it just really. jumped out at me.
And this is in in chapter two. And I thought I'd share that with you today. And if you have one that has done that for you, that you were just reading it, you know, a bunch of times. And all of a sudden, something happened in your life, or something was going on with you that you felt like. Oh.
you know That's what that means. Or I never even considered that. This is the time to share it. I'd love to hear it. 866-34 TRUTH.
eight six six three four eight 7884. And before I get into this, have you ever noticed that all the other Ridings in in world religions and everything else. What has undergone The scrutiny. of scripture. I mean, think about it.
Has any of them, the Quran, the Book of Mormon, All those things, have any of them endured? the scrutiny that's gone on to scripture. And I think maybe that's a good place to start. Do we trust Scripture? Do we trust that what we are reading?
even in its English form. Do we trust this?
Now, most of us aren't Greek and Hebrew scholars. And and if you are, I I man, I admire you. Because That's one thing I've uh Wanted to be able to do is take the time to learn it. I've got some very close friends of mine who are scholars in this, particularly one. A rabbi, a friend of mine, a messianic rabbi, who is just I mean what he understands in Hebrew And the Jewish teachings now that have come alive in his mind under Christ is astonishing.
So I'm always going back and picking his brain on stuff. Two two. To learn and glean from it, not just from the Old Testament, but how Jesus responded in the New Testament. Because remember, there was no New Testament when Jesus was. walking on this earth, he there it he is the New Testament.
And so they were all quoting scripture that they all knew. And he would say, Here's the context of this. And it's fascinating.
So do we come at that from that point? Do we have that level of confidence? Of this, and then I've thought about this, you know, with other world faiths and so forth. Do their scriptures that they call scriptures? do they withstand the scrutiny?
Do does the Book of Mormon, for example, go under the same Rigors. that we have for Scripture. And I would suggest to you that it has not. There's no way. And you look at what's going on in scripture for, you know.
thousands of years. And then, when we saw the Dead Sea Scrolls preserved and so forth, it just reinforced and reinforced and reinforced. I mean, it's astonishing the amount of academic rigor that went into this. And so, anyway, that's where I come from on this, and that's our starting point.
So, I hope we have a common ground in this. But I was reading the story in Mark 2.
Now, this is the story where Jesus was at the house preaching and These friends Carried a man who was paralyzed up onto the roof and lowered him through the roof. You've heard this story. You you know this story. And we've glossed over it. You probably have heard, how many sermons have you heard about this?
Four men carry their friend to Jesus. The house is packed. They can't get through the door, so they climb on the roof, tear it open, and lower their friend down in front of Jesus.
Well, now, let me ask you a question first off. Have you considered just the physical act. of what was involved with this. I mean, wha how big a hole was it? that they had addicted to how many of you how many of you all right now have done construction?
And when you're going to lower a human being through a hole. that you've just cut in the roof. I mean, how big a hole? We're not talking a 12-inch by 12-inch hole. I mean, you're talking a sizable opening that you have to make.
Well, what's involved in that? What kind of roof was it? What kind of tools do these guys have to do this with? I mean, I don't know that they showed up with tools. They went and got their friend.
But here's the sentence. And I will share this with you, and we'll unpack this as the program unfolds. When Jesus saw their faith. When Jesus saw their faith. Now, we've heard the story.
The guy comes down and he says, Son, your sins are forgiven. And the Pharisees were all aghast by that, and Jesus knew what they were thinking. But he's not talking about the roof. He's not talking about the miracle. He's not even looking at the crowd, or he may have looked at the crowd, but he's not talking about that.
The words that are preserved for us in Scripture are: when Jesus.
So Their faith.
Now I I kept asking myself Well what what does that mean? What is he actually seeing? Because He wasn't just watching four men carrying a stretcher or a cloth or whatever they had to schlep this guy around with. He saw something deeper.
Well, what did he say? What was he looking at? And I have found that it's really important for us In Scripture, when we're reading through these things, what is Jesus looking at? What does Jesus look at? If you'll look at different things in Scripture, it said Jesus looked up and he saw Zacchaeus.
For example, That's another one that stood out to me. What did most people do when they looked at Zacchaeus? You remember the song? How many of you remember that song? Zacchaeus was a wee little man, and a wee little man was he So when people looked at Zacchaeus, what were they doing?
They were looking down. But Jesus looked up and saw him in the tree. When Jesus looked, when he saw the widow, when he saw this person or this person, and when Scripture directs our eyes to look at where Jesus is looking. That's a great starting place, isn't it? And so Jesus saw Their faith.
And we're going to talk about that when we come back and what that means. Today, to us, right now, in this moment. And if there's a scripture that Leapt out at you, and maybe it was this one. Let's hear about it: 866-34-TRUTH, 866-348-7884. You're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com.
Welcome back to Truth Talk Live. This is Peter Rosberger. Glad to be with you, 866-34 TRUTH, 866-348. 7884. If you want to be a part of the program, we're talking about moments when you've read a passage of scripture.
maybe your whole life. You've heard it since you were a kid. And then all of a sudden Something happens. That you see something, and maybe it's just a sentence, maybe it's a phrase, maybe it's a passage, maybe it's just a couple of words. And you're like Wow.
I never I never even thought about that before. That's the thing I love about Scripture. And sadly, we don't. We've got a lot of work to do. You know, one of the things that brought about during the Reformation.
was that the the the public at large was biblically illiterate.
Now, it doesn't mean that they were illiterate in other areas or that they were stupid. It just means that scripture was in a language that was not taught.
So Greek, Hebrew, certainly, and then Latin.
Well, the public didn't speak it. It was a dead language. They didn't speak it.
So they didn't know it, and so it was controlled, the message of the scriptures was controlled by the clergy. and the public at large was just illiterate. And so when you started having men like Tyndale and others and Luther translating the scriptures into the common tongue.
Well, the Catholic Church was aghast. How dare you put the word of God into the hands of Rubes? You know, and that that's th they were th th they were horrified at this. But these reformers were determined to make sure that the average man, the everyday person, could read the scriptures and hear it in their own language.
So when Luther translated, for example, I think it was his first book that he translated from Galatians into German. And then I think Tyndale did the English Bible. And uh they um it it was the the Response against these guys and others was swift, but also. We had the Gutenberg press back then. And so we were allowed to disseminate these things, and people started hearing it in their own language.
Well, now we have a different problem. We have Bibles. I mean, just out of. off the top of your head, how many Bibles do you think you have in your house? Off the top of your head.
You know, most people are going to probably be able to identify five, six, as many as a dozen. different versions of the Bible. Maybe King James, maybe. whatever. It doesn't matter, but there's going to be uh several of them laying around.
And yet we have Bibles everywhere. We have Bibles everywhere. And and yet Are we more biblically literate? And I would I would suggest to you that we're not. As a society, that we don't know what scripture means.
In fact, you'll hear things where people will say things like: you know, the Lord helps those who help themselves. And they think that's in Scripture. Is it? You know, and and when you ask people, Show me in scripture. Where where where you get this from?
And and they can't do it.
Well, it's in there.
Well, no. No, it's not. And do we understand what it means? Do we know how to properly exegete Scripture? Do we know how to read it in context?
For example, Jeremiah 29:11. Everybody knows what that is, right? For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord. going to prosper you. And people claim that.
They plant a flag on that scripture. And they want to tell people, you know, I've got this business plan. That the Lord has shown me, and I'm going to use Jeremiah 29:11.
Well, is that what Jeremiah 29, 11 is about? I was, no, it's not. If you go back and look at the entire context of it, it was given. Through the prophet Jeremiah to the people who were in captivity, saying, Y'all need to settle down. You need to.
build your houses, get married, plant your vineyards, have kids. Get your kids married, have grandchildren, you're going to be there for a while. I know where you are, for I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord. Takes on a whole different meaning, doesn't it?
So, do we know how to properly look at Scripture and go at it and understand the context of what was going on? Do we understand who, when Jesus is speaking to people, who was he speaking to? When certain people ask him a question, the Pharisees ask a question, they came at it from one Philosophical bent. When the Sadducees did, they came at it from another. And Jesus is addressing them.
When Jesus addressed, do we understand the difference?
So it takes a certain amount of academic Work. and discipline to do this and not just close your eyes and flip through let the air conditioner blow your pages and then pick a verse that you like and stand on that. You've all heard the old joke about that, where Somebody said, Oh, I'm going to let the Lord just show me in scripture when I get to it. They let the Bible fall open and they pointed their finger to the first thing that just landed on the page, and it says, And Judas went out and hanged himself. They say, well, that can't be for me.
And then they do it again. And then the next one they go out and do the same. And so they're like, you know, that's the kind of thing, it's almost like playing in scripture roulette. That's not how we approach the Word of God. And biblical literacy is incredibly important.
That's why I like to go through the entire book of something, to do an exegesis through the entire book. I love to listen to sermons and teachers that will take the entire book of, for example, I'm going through the book of Mark right now. and go through that just line by line. Who was it written to? When was it written?
What was the context? Why was you know who was the audience that he was writing this to and why? And so forth.
So, this is for me. It was in Mark chapter 2, and Jesus sees these four men bringing their paralyzed friend to him. And they can't get through the crowd. They climb up on the roof. They tear it open and they lower it down.
And Jesus did what? He saw their faith. And I just kept asking myself: well, what does that mean? What is he actually seeing when he saw their faith? He he wasn't simply watching four men carry a stretcher or some type of hammock for this guy.
What did he see? He saw the compassion that refused to leave their friend behind, evidently.
Now think about these guys. These guys What did they do?
Well, they heard that Jesus was going to be there.
Okay. Then they went and got their friend, who obviously they knew They knew of his condition. And they said, Hey, This guy named Jesus is going to be over here. Preaching, and here he can heal the sick. Let's get you to him.
So they picked him up on his bed, basically, his bedroll, I don't think they had gurneys back then.
So he picked him up. four guys and they're hauling a human being.
However far it was. And I don't know. It could have been several hundred yards. It could have been, you know, Half a mile. I don't know.
Have you ever had to haul dead weight? with somebody like that.
So to get there, the crowds are are everywhere. And then these guys go up the stairs, so they had to haul this guy up the stairs. Have you ever had to haul somebody up the stairs. Like that.
Now I've pushed a wheelchair for a very long time for somebody. And I've had to navigate stairs and so forth. These guys weren't pushing a wheelchair up the stairs, they were hauling up there. One time I remember I was at an event and Johnny Erickson Tata was speaking, and I was, we had a platform that she was at, but we didn't have a ramp, the church she came and spoke to. And this is the first time I met Johnny.
We've been friends for a very long time. But the first time I met her, I was actually helping pick up her wheelchair. and lifted up on to the platform. because the church didn't have a handicap accessible platform.
So we picked her up. It did this. And I've had to do this with my brothers many times. Uh with my wife. And uh now I will tell you this.
A lot of those times we did that, we were at Six Flags and Gracie this is this was a lifetime ago, forty years ago, and Gracie got to go through the exit line. And so my brothers were all helping me On the rides with her, but then they got to take turns riding with her.
So by the time she finished, you know, I have four brothers, and by the time she rode the roller coaster about four, five, six times, she was getting a little green around the gills. But my brothers had a good time, but they were eager to help as we go on the screen machine there in Atlanta. But that's a different story. We're not going to go there. But these guys get up there.
And then they've got to get down to Jesus. They obviously had to have a plan. And they started digging. And scripture says All of that. is condensed into one phrase.
Jesus Saul their faith. What does that even mean? What does that mean to us today? 866-34-TRUTH, 866-348-7884 will be right there. You're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com.
Yeah. Welcome back to Truth Soft Live. This is Peter Rosenberger. Glad to be with you, 866-34 TRUTH, 866-348-342. 78 84.
We're talking about scripture and The those moments when it just leaps out at you. When you've been reading it, you've heard about it. Maybe you go all the way back to Sunday school when you were a kid, and all of a sudden you hear it. like you've heard it for the first time, and you never realized this particular phrase, or sometimes even a word, And that's the power of the Word of God.
Now, there's a... baseline that I come to this with. Which is, there are no throwaway words in Scripture. That's not my words, that's scripture's words. Scripture speaks to itself on this.
But the Holy Spirit doesn't waste any ink.
Okay? I always spirit doesn't waste any ink. that that there is superfluous words there. then that's a different conversation we have to have. But if you come from the point where you are banking and standing on the word of God.
And the veracity of it, as I said, the first block. Name any other. Religious text If you would. I don't like that term, but... for lack of better words.
that has undergone the scrutiny Academic Um examination. Archaeological. Scientific. That Our scriptures have. That the Word of God has that is in our hands today.
And so many of us will have. You know. ten, eleven, twelve Bibles in our home. Sadly, a lot of em have dust on 'em, don't they? But there are no throwaway words.
Every word reveals something of God's character, something. Through about the immutable character of God and who He is.
Sometimes it's through a miracle, sometimes through a, you'll see a sermon in scripture, sometimes it's through a single sentence. that tells us where Christ directed his attention.
Now remember, there's only one time in Scripture that the name El Roy was used. L. Roy, the god who sees. You know who. where that is in it's in Genesis.
It was Hagar. It's a fascinating story if you get a chance to go back and look at it. But Mark in the Gospel of Mark, chapter two And and many scholars believe. That Mark spent an awful lot of time with Peter. Who was there?
And so when he's writing these things down, he's doing this as As hearing it from Peter. You know, Luke spent a lot of time with Mary. And and so, and of course John was there. And then Matthew as well. But so Mark is writing these things down.
And he doesn't merely tell us what Jesus did. He tells us what Jesus saw. And that sentence alone When Jesus saw their faith, these guys tore up a roof to lower this guy down. When he saw their faith, What a Jesus Wha what what what what did that even Wrap that around your mind for just a minute. He didn't, I mean, think about what was going on.
They're tearing up the roof. What's happening during that time? It took more than one second. And there's dust flying, there's a commotion going on. What do you think Jesus is doing at that point?
He's just kinda watching this whole thing unfold. I mean, I don't think he was just looking at the ground. He wasn't, you know, on his phone like so many of us are today. He was observing he didn't miss anything. But he saw far more than Splintered beams, or however they had.
I mean, think about it. I don't know how far the beams are. You know, what is it? 16. That we have here are standard.
I don't know what they were back then, but they got to lower a human body down through this thing.
So there had to be a pretty decent sized hole. and I don't know if they were worried about the whole thing falling in. But he saw the conviction these guys had. And the compassion that refused to leave their friend behind. Noah was not an option for these guys.
I mean, do you see that in Scripture? Noah is not an option. They were not daunted by the crowd. They They said, we're going into extra innings here, folks. And they went up the stairs, carried this guy, and went up there.
And I don't think they brought tools with them.
So they're doing all this by hand or with sticks or whatever they could grab at the time. Because there's no reason to believe that they said, let's go get this guy, then let's get a bunch of shovels and some picks and axes and all that kind of stuff.
So they're using whatever's at their hand and they're tearing this thing up.
Now, it could have been just poles. covered with with palm branches or whatever. Who knows? But whatever it is, they're doing it. And they did not accept a crowded doorway.
at the end of their journey, so they went up. And he saw all that. And Mark gathers every bit of that into one word. He saw their Faith. These men had already decided.
They were purposed in their mind that there was no acceptable alternative. to bringing their friend to Christ. They were going to get this guy. to this guy that everybody's been talking about who could heal people. And the Gospels are filled with moments like this.
You know, Jesus looked at Peter after his denial. Think about that for just a moment. Can you imagine what that must have been like? I mean, you get a little bit of a picture. of of what that did to Peter.
I mean, how that must have just wrecked him. Just one look. And you think about that. The legend has that Peter never forgot that look all the way to his own crucifixion. And that's what many historians and so forth have said.
I don't know, there's no evidence of that in Scripture. I cannot I cannot imagine. That on the night that Jesus was betrayed. Bye, Peter. and by Judas the same night.
And Jesus looked over. At Peter. And the rooster crowed. And what that must have done to Peter. Just one look.
And as I mentioned in the last block, he looked up at Zacchaeus. Most people looked down on Zacchaeus. Jesus looked up at him. Jesus noticed the widow. With the coin.
He, if you'll notice also, the scribes and the Pharisees that were in that. room or that home Where this guy was lower down the roof, they didn't say anything to Jesus, but Jesus perceived their hearts. It says he knew what they were thinking. Nothing escapes him. These guys didn't say anything to Jesus when they lowered a guy through the roof.
Jesus saw their faith. He knew what was going on in their hearts. He sees Not just actions, he sees the heart. That's who he is. I've spent 40 years.
pushing wheelchairs and signing hospital forms and sleeping in waiting rooms and navigating operating rooms and carrying burdens I never imagined carrying. And along the way, countless people have thanked me for what I've done. Family, friends, Gracie. And their kindness has meant More to me that I could say. I appreciate what they're saying.
But there is another kind of recognition. Years ago, um President George W. Bush. We got to meet him and he greeted Gracie. He shook my hand, he was nice, all that kind of stuff.
But when he saw Gracie. and Gracie wears her legs uncovered. and she stood there in line to to meet him. And she's wearing a skirt, and she had robotic legs. Gracie was wearing robotic legs long before it was cool.
For today's amputees, that's all they do. But back then, you know, the. People didn't do it as much, particularly women, but Gracie did and she didn't care. And she took this, she had skin covering on her leg originally, but she wanted to be able to get into the water and swim. And she called up her prosthetist and said, Hey, can I take this skin covering off?
I want to get in the water and swim. And he said, Sure. And so she's cutting it all off. It looked like the Terminator when Arnold Schwarzenegger was cutting off some of his arm there over his robot arm. And it was kind of freaky looking, but she didn't care.
That's the way she is. But anyway, so she's standing there waiting to talk to George W. Bush. and he took her hand in both of his, and then he just lingered there for a moment. He just looked at her.
just held her hand both with both of his. He didn't rush the moment. and the weight of who he was. made that moment unforgettable. It was an astonishing moment.
the President of the United States. stopped. and brought all the weight of who he was into that moment.
Now, how many people Have you ever said Thank you for your service too. How many servicemen and women have you ever said that to? Just off the top of your head. And many of you have served. How many people have said this to you?
And it's meaningful. It's meaningful to the person hearing it. It's meaningful to be able to acknowledge people like that. But for those of you who have served in combat. What does it mean to hear thank you for your service from somebody?
that's a stranger on the street versus when your commanding officer gives you a nod of approval. who is battle tested Understands the journey that brought you to that point. What does The thank you for your service from a stranger versus a nod from your commanding officer. Is there a difference between those two things? I would suggest to you that there is.
You show me a combat fit. who gets an approval A nod. from his commanding or her commanding officer. With a nod of approval, And that kind of thing carries you a long, long ways. And that's So so you The weight of the recognition really comes from the one who's giving it.
So when when you have a Decorated. Colonel, who looks at a young lieutenant, said Well done. That's going to mean something. to that young lieutenant. when you have a master sergeant.
Looking at a young private Good job. That's going to mean something. And uh you know I it and it not just in the military. Long long you know, I I was in Denver A while back with Gracie and she had to spend a lot of her a lot of months in a hospital and go through a lot of surgeries. And it was quite an ordeal to get her from Montana to Denver.
And that's where we have to go for all of her big stuff. Um I I was warned slam out. I mean, there wasn't much left of me at all. And the decades of caregiving just kind of settled all my shoulders all at one time. And um We were there in pre-op with her neurosurgeon.
and her neurosurgeon looked me in the eye. And he said, You did your part. You got her here. This is going to be a nine-hour surgery. He said, 'You got her here.
Now go rest. We've got her from here. We've got her. You did your part. We got her.
And I just exhaled right there at that moment. I just He wasn't congratulating me. He wasn't thanking me. For anything. He was acknowledging what I carried.
and assuring me Yeah. For the next foreseeable days. It was his to bear. And as meaningful as that moment was, It points to something infinitely greater. And that's what we're going to talk about when we come back.
But Jesus saw their faith. And that's Truth Talk Live, 866-3666. 34 Truth, 866-348-7884. We'll be right back. Truth, talk, lie.
You're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com. Welcome back to Truth Talk Live. This is Peter Rosenberger, 866-34-TRUTH, 866-348-7884. If you want to be a part of the program, by the way, go out to caregiver.substack.com. Caregiver.
Dot substack. S-U-B-S-T-A-C-K Substack is a online newsletter kind of thing. It's got video, audio, print, and I Put a ton of stuff out there. And if you're a family caregiver, I I I've I've created this for you. I it's a 100% influent caregiver.
And I think you'll find it incredibly meaningful. There's a brand new article that I've got out there right now, and it's about a 650-year-old tree that's on our property here in Montana that the Foresters were able to date it as such. Think about what's gone on. It's 650 years old.
Sometimes I just go out and just touch it. What's it like to touch something that's living? that has been living for six hundred and fifty plus years. And I wrote that article out there and I think you'll find it very meaningful. And I've got tons of things out there for those who are caring for people, for those who are dealing with things that just don't get better.
And I understand that journey. And I everything is written in Fluent Caregiver, caregiver.substack.com. And I think you'll find it very meaningful to you. It'll be a source of encouragement and strength to you. And it's going to help Bolster you and also to let you know that you're seen, and that's what we're talking about today.
When Jesus saw their faith in Mark chapter 2, and I see this thing where these guys tear up the roof and they come down, and Jesus sees their faith. And and all that had to go into the point where they got there. And Scripture den distils all that down. To one sentence when Jesus saw their faith, the only one. Who is fully qualified to know the hearts of those men, and we never know their names.
And we don't see any record that Jesus actually even said anything to them. But as I said in the last block, the weight of the person giving the recognition is what gives the recognition its value.
So if a stranger comes up to you, And and tells you, you know. You know. Good job, or whatever, but they have no idea that got how you got to this point. It's a nice compliment, it's a nice thing to say, it's very kind. But when somebody who understands the journey that you're on, When somebody who truly gets the journey, for example, like I said, in the military.
It's one thing for me to go out and say thank you for your service to somebody. But it's a whole different thing when their commanding officer says it. acknowledges what they've done and sometimes it's just with a nod. A commanding officer who's got a chest full of medals can say things with a nod to a subordinate. that you and I couldn't write a whole book and be able to communicate.
just because they understand.
So when Jesus sees their faith, the only one. who was truly qualified. to know the hearts of those men. He did. He did know those.
The only one who knew everything it cost them did see them. The only one who saw not just the roof. But every unseen act that led to that roof, as I went through the whole litany of things a couple of blocks ago. You know, that they had to go get him. They had to go, they had to hear about Jesus and believe that that was the place to get him to.
So they went and fetched this guy. They carried him and lugged him across the town or wherever, however long it took them to do it. They went up the stairs, they tore up stuff. They're carrying this guy, literally, physically carrying this guy. And Jesus.
sees all that. And I believe that's why the Holy Spirit preserved this sentence in Scripture. not to honour the four friends. even though it does. But to reveal the heart of Christ.
Everything in Scripture, every word. is to reveal Christ. Every word is Christ. He is the word. The word was with God.
The word is God. Caregivers. parents, pastors, missionaries. Anonymous service.
Okay. Sooner or later. Whether we ever say it out loud or not, the question comes Does God even see this And Mark answers, Yeah, he does. And so, if a knowing look from the President of the United States to Gracie when he took both of her hands, I mean both of uh her hand and both of his hands. becomes unforgettable.
If one nod from a battle-tested commander can sustain a young officer for years. I'm going to ask you a question. I want you to really think about this. Long after this show is gone, I hope you'll think about this. What is one Knowing Look.
from Christ worth to you. One look from Christ. One look, what would one knowing look with Peter? It absolutely wrecked him the night he betrayed Jesus. denied him three times.
to the point where Jesus restored it by the shore of Galilee. Peter, do you love me? Feed my sheep. But they say that that look took him all the way to his own cross. Because he remembered it.
What is one knowing look of understanding, To those four guys. What do you think happened with those guys? When they looked down, they saw Jesus, they healed the guy. Do you think Jesus just looked up and just gave him a nod? Scripture doesn't say.
But I cannot imagine that he didn't look at all four of them in the eyes and they knew that they were seeing Scripture doesn't record Jesus speaking to the ones who carried their friend. It didn't have to. Jesus didn't have to. He saw their faith. And I want to tell you this.
the Christ who saw them, has not changed. He still sees. And he sees you. Mike, in Dayton, Ohio. Mike, What's on your mind today?
Thanks for calling the program. How are you doing? I'm sorry, I called so late. I've been He's running around. There was no clock on you, Mike.
You were not required to check in, so you're just on time there. All right, good. Wouldn't you love to have friends like that? That's what I've been thinking about the whole time you've been talking.
Well Indeed, it is. And also, wouldn't you love to have just one look from Christ that sees everything that you've carried? Yeah, I want to be a friend like that, and I also want God to see me like that. You know what I mean?
Well reverse reverse that. Let's let him see us first. Let's recognize that he's the God who sees first. And then that's what equips us to be that kind of friend. Amen.
Amen. And that's what I was pondering while you were talking about it as. Am I a friend? And does Jesus say me like that? You know?
Um. Um Well, what does Scripture tell you, Mike? The scripture tells me I do, and um Yeah. Is there anything? Do you get anything from scripture that gives you any reason to believe that Jesus doesn't see your life in total?
I'm sorry, say that again. Do you see anything in Scripture that would lead you to believe that Jesus doesn't see everything in your life? No, there isn't. And that is where we plant our flag. That he is the God who sees, and that sometimes it's scary because he sees all our thoughts and everything, and we've got to give an account for all this stuff.
And, you know, I got a friend of mine I tell this to, I said, at the Married Supper of the Lamb, I'm pretty sure I'm going to be bussing tables. And working in the kitchen and be glad to be there. And just sure, you want me to take out the trash, Lord? I don't know what they got kitchen help at the Married Supper of the Lamb, but that's where I'll be in the kitchen working and glad to be there because I know that I've got, oh, Lord. But he sees it all.
Yeah, he does. And I believe some people are analytical. I mean, they're very. smart and they try to figure out everything. And there's some people that are very I don't know, emotional.
I guess that's the word I'm looking for. And And God loves both those type of people. And Sometimes we need to try to be more analytical and sometimes we need to be more emotional and get it in our hearts. you know, and not worry about what's in our head, you know what I mean? And uh Get it down into our heart, vice versa, getting the knowledge of what we know.
that that to be true. Um, get it into our heart, you know what I mean? Uh That's what God's been dealing with me a little bit. I I need to be more analytical. I need to understand more.
I need to study more. I'm just not that good at it. I'm not great at it. But man, I when I read it, it gets right down in my heart. I know that.
So Well, the way it comes to us through the mind, I mean, go back and look at all the scriptures about that. Romans 12, 2, Do not be conformed with this world, but be ye transformed by the renewal of your what? Mind, yeah. And then Colossians 3:2, set your minds on things that are above, not on the things of earth. And 1 Corinthians 2:16, but we have the mind of Christ.
And finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable. What do we do with those things? Do we feel on those things or Think on those things. Right. And then there's also My go-to verse: trust in the Lord with all your heart and not lean on your own understanding, but all your ways acknowledge Him, and He'll make your path straight.
Absolutely why my point is. Yeah. So it's one of those things where our conviction. In the heart. But we train our minds.
We train our minds to ask these kinds of questions and to study and to study and show ourselves approved. But in order to do that, we have to spend time in His Word. Just I asked a question earlier in the program. You know, how many on average Bibles are laying around the house? Do we have?
Just if you had a guess, Mike, how many Bibles do you think you got laying in your house? Oh, I got one in every room. You know what I mean?
And then I think, you know, that's the thing. And we've got to crack these things open. We've got to spend time there. And that's the uh that's that is By the way, Truth Talk Live. There is no weather Truth Talk Live higher than the Word of God.
Mike, thanks for the call. This is Peter Rosenberger, caregiver.substack.com. We'll see you next week. Mm.
