Should Christians Support ICE?

And now, here's today's Truth Talk Live host. Good day, Truth Talk listeners. We have a really important and really hot topic today. We're talking about ICE agents, ICE law enforcement. Yeah, those guys.

The guys that you hear about on news that are taking people away and that are involved with a shooting that you heard about in Minneapolis. We're going to talk about that from a Christian perspective, of course, on Truth Talk Live. Please call in with your thoughts. Please call in with any kind of Concerns that you have. This is a judgment-free zone.

I just want to hear. Your comments. The number is going to be 866-348-7884. Again, that's 866-348-7884. How are Christians going to respond to this issue?

How should we respond to past issues? How should we respond to future issues? Because whether it's ICE or your local law enforcement, Whether it's, let's say, Border Patrol or the guys. who uh protect uh the the Coast Guard. They've come in and helped out.

on the inside of our country here here and there. It could be any type of law enforcement agency that's going to be handling. border issues, going to be handling local issues.

So, whether it's ICE or another law enforcement by another name, we're going to be having some kind of law enforcement, God willing. of some kind of form of fashion. And the reason why I say God will him because You have to have a nation of laws. And as a Christian, I can I can say that. Um You know, don't just take it from me and take it out of the Bible.

1 Timothy chapter 2 says to pray for our government. What? Yep, yep. 1 Timothy chapter 2. Pray for our government.

So why do we want to pray for our government?

Well because Even Jesus knows, not even Jesus knows, but even Jesus tells us, so we can know, that you cannot have a nation. and not have lost. In other words, you have to have a nation or so you have to have laws to run a nation.

Somebody hits your vehicle.

Somebody steals your lunch.

Somebody uh attacks one of your family members. And who do you call? Who do you go to? To Get justice done. Who do you go who do you call to help you out of situation to to save you.

There was also a Organization that we worked with before, and when I say we, I say Truth Network. The organization is called Lantern Rescue.

Now they are anti-human trafficking. agency. And the reason why I bring them up is because They work within the laws to free people who have been trafficked. Whether it's through Um labor trafficking. And whether it's through Other forms of human trafficking.

I'm trying to be kind to the families out there, but. Uh for the adults in the Rome. There are other more Uh Carnal. Ways of trafficking that's going on. But those guys are working with.

law enforcement locally and internationally to to save people. What'd we do if these guys weren't around saving kids? Yeah, it it keeps Regular people from getting involved, and it has a level of standard that we all adhere to.

So there's no abuse of of laws.

Now with any kind of group. with any kind of entity. is as long as people are involved. We're going to have some bumps. on the r on the in the road.

We're gonna have some glitches in the system. But we don't throw the baby out with the bath water. We don't say because we have a couple of bad guys in law enforcement and politicians and military, we military, we get rid of the whole thing. We get rid of politics, we get rid of policing, we get rid of Name the group. teachers, nurses.

We still need these entities, these organizations, to have a functioning society. But We try to separate the good from the bad as much as we can. And is this situation with ice. Is it a totally bad organization? Do we need to totally get rid of that?

I mean, what are your thoughts? Or is it just maybe we have some bumps in the road, some ways we can connect or correct?

some things that that that are going on. And by no means am I saying what happened in Was what's happening with ice. It is bad. I'm not taking not taking sides. Just want to pose a question.

What happened in Minneapolis with that shooting, or in Minnesota, excuse me. Not taking size on that. Was that a bad thing? Was that a good thing? Where do you stand?

So Mentioning Mini Minnesota, since that's one of the hot topics right now. For those that don't know, Unfortunately, somebody lost their life. during altercation with with ice. Don't know the whole story, but for what I know Ice was conducting an operation in a neighborhood And There was A lady that Yeah, I think it's a very good idea. and was interfering.

It was slowing down. their operations. She was in her vehicle. She had a passenger Uh from my information it was her wife. And they had a dog in the back.

And just to complete the the the demographic here uh two females who were of the white Skin tone.

So They pull their vehicle up. And they are blocking The law enforcement vehicle.

Now, yes. Law enforcement can, I guess, go around and go into the grass and get around this vehicle, but From what I know in law enforcement, you're not supposed to be engaged involved around them at all when they're trying to do their job. And that's called uh obstruction of justice. Yeah.

So, by her being in the way with her vehicle, while the vehicles are running, also, by the way, she's behind the wheel. They had to take action.

So There is a level of escalation that police officers have to take. You know, they use commands first, and then they, and when commands don't work, then you have to go with something else.

So, from what I saw, They came out. Gave commands. Ma'am, we need you though. Leave, get out of here, what have you. She didn't move.

Okay. Go to the next step.

Well then they approached her vehicle. and pulled on the handle, I guess, to remove her from the vehicle. Um I guess that didn't work either. You know Car door didn't open from what I saw.

So then you had another offer say, ma'am. Literally, he said, Ma'am, get out of your vehicle. And at this point the passenger. The driver's wife was out of the vehicle, engaging. I mean, what form?

one way or another, I'll say she was just engaging other officers.

So, while the officer told the driver to get out of the vehicle. the person on the street. The passenger said Drive, baby, drive. And The driver proceeded to speed off and Leave the scene. Unfortunately, while she was Yeah, I guess fleeing the scene, so to speak, she did contact an officer while she was leaving.

And unfortunately the driver lost her life. sparked a whole lot of outrage. I'm sure you've heard about it. is being heard around the country.

So again, What is our response to this as Christians?

Well, first and foremost I can tell you this We don't celebrate any loss of life. It's tragic what happened to her. We don't wish death on anybody. But hey. Did I miss something?

or who the truth is. Because Jesus Christ said, He is the way, the truth, and the life. Mm. It's it's not Trump.

Sorry, it's not President Trump. Gotta be respectful. It's not even your local pastor. It's not anybody that you see on social media. It's not your favorite athlete.

It's not uh the actor that you like on T V or the actor you like on on the movie screen. Jesus Christ said, I am the way. I am the truth. I am the life.

So what is he say about this topic. Maybe not this topic in general in in specifics. But uh I guarantee you. The Bible does speak about any topic that we're covering to day. Yeah.

So I uh came in earlier on the last segment. with a Bible scripture. That was given to me by Good friend of mine. owner of the network, Stu Epperson. and it was first Timothy chapter two.

which is to pray for our government. And You might not like the government. Fine.

Okay, are you praying for the government? Are you praying for the president? You don't like Trump?

Okay, are you praying for him to maybe change his heart? He's changed his mind. You didn't you didn't like Biden. Did you pray for Biden? Are you praying for your local law enforcement?

These guys have a tough job. Not many guys suit up with bulletproof vests. and and guns. and go hands on with some of the most Uh ruthless people. that that you think of.

That crazy drunk that you see on the street. Guess who's going to have to handle that person? Law enforcement. Um people that are handing out sentences sentences for that that person. You know, pray for the judges judges, pray for the whole judicial system.

There's hardly an issue that doesn't touch some segment of society.

So Ice. touches families. It touches politicians. It touches the people that write those rules.

So we got to pray for it all to make sure we're on the right track. But again, Jesus is the standard. And we are to follow Here's his way, here's his truth again.

So throw out another question for you. And let me know what you think. Again, 866-348-7884. Do we confuse the love ethic? of Turn the Other Cheek.

with a government authority. Let me repeat that, for those that might have missed it.

Sorry. There there was a key part I missed.

So to start from the top, why do we confuse the love ethic of turn the other cheek?

Well, um On a regular day to day basis. Is somebody Said off color col off color comment. They took your parking space. They they didn't see it was handicapped or they didn't see your name on it.

Okay, those instances we can turn the other cheek.

Somebody took the last cookie. All right. That's upsetting, but hey, we could turn the other cheek. Live and let live. We can forgive.

We know forgiveness is all through the Bible. Jesus was on the cross, and he said, Father, forgive them. for they know not what they do.

So forgiveness is all throughout Christianity.

However, A follow up to that question. is how does law enforcement coming to the situation when it when we talk about turn the other cheek. And this can kind of get into the weeds a little bit. But If Jesus established governments. and governments establish laws.

Then we have to deal and talk about Law enforcement. We have to talk about laws. We have to talk about government in our society. Jesus dealt with that during his time. Did he not?

He was under Roman rule. in in uh in Jerusalem, in that area. The whole the whole area was under Roman rule So he had to deal with The law. He had to deal with politicians. One famous one that comes to mind is Pontius Pilate.

A very key time for Jesus. All Jesus had to do. to save himself from going to the cross and experiencing that excruciating pain for several hours naked on the cross. and facing death. All he had to do to to get out of that was to renounce His deity renounced his claim as God.

He just said, Okay, well I give it all up. Caesar is God. I don't want to go through this. I'm sorry, guys. Forgive me.

Let me go back to, let me go, let me go back to my life. I renounce all of this. That's all he had to say. But he did not. In front of Pontus Pilar he just could have said that and he was free to go.

And Pontius Pilate said, I have the power to free you. Key point for Jesus to say, Yeah, okay, good.

Well, free me. No, he didn't say that. What Jesus said in return, in response to that. Jesus said, You have no power than the power that was given to you. Whoa.

Okay. And this is where some people talk about uh speaking truth to power. Because that was the governor of that area, Pontius Pilate was. He did have the power to release them. Yes, it was granted to him by the Heavenly Father.

He allowed him to have that power. But while he is having that power, exercising that power, Jesus still had to deal with him. But Jesus never faltered. He never acted outside of the Bible. He still fulfilled his duty as a Christian.

And not just his duty, well, not that as a Christian, but. uh he fulfulfilled he fulfilled his holy duty. But as Christians What are we doing? We have to be like Jesus. We respect the law.

And we can follow the law. And as long as the law doesn't ask us to go against God. Then we're to follow the law. Fully.

Well, what does it mean if the law doesn't follow along with God's principles? when they ask us to renounce our God. which is part of the problem during the Roman times. or during Roman occupation before Jerusalem. Rome put up Caesar as God.

And during their conquering of other areas. They said you either You know, commit to our way, or you'd be put to the sword. But the Jewish people, they were unique. They did not want to have Caesar as God. But they were so strong in their conviction, Rome allowed them to have their ways.

Welcome back to Truth Talk Live. We are talking about a very hot topic today. We're talking about ice agents. The Guys you hear about on the news, the guys going around all over the country. in neighborhoods.

in in business areas.

Well what have you they're Uh take people out of restaurants. uh taking people out of schools. And they are prosecuting them. They're sending them back. We're talking about those guys.

Yes, uh there was also a very controvers controversial issue that happened uh a few days ago. where somebody lost their life during, um Okay. an operation.

so to speak. You you heard about uh her her her name, Miss Miss Good. She was Impeding laws Enforcement duties. Uh she was in her vehicle. Driving towards an officer?

Hit him. And Um shots were fired. And she she lost her life. This has divided a lot of people.

However, on this Christian radio station, we're going to talk about A Christian reaction. We're going to talk about how we view this. And not just a Christian reaction. And we should talk about a Christian stance. Where do we stand on issues like this?

Where do you stand on law enforcement in general? Where do we stand on politicians?

So write these laws. Where do we stand on the judicial system that enforces or that that uh judges and prosecutes the people that that break the law. and maybe uh also can free those people. And With the three branches of government. You have the Congress.

Yeah the executive branch, the White House. You have the judicial system. It all blends in together. In my opinion, When you talk about this issue, So for instance, You have, again, the law enforcement officer who is enforcing the law that the politicians have written for him to follow. Um You have the judicial system that judges if a law has been broken or not.

If people are prosecuted set free. The executive branch, which is over all of it. To say simply.

So We as Christians Should not. and I also believe cannot run from this. I'm pretty sure we all know Christians that say that, well, I don't want to get really involved in politics. I don't really want to get involved with current events. I just want to pray and let God's will be done.

Okay, that's that's respectable. You know, again, this is a judgment-free zone. We're not really going to jump down somebody's throat for their position. We're going to see what God says and let God do the talking.

Now My stance is a little bit more timid. We have other people that are a little bit more fiery. They're a little bit more, you know, hellfire and brimstone. That's fine, as long as you follow the Bible. Uh with with me I'm much more of a conversationalist.

I want to have a conversation with you all. And with anybody. Because There's right wrong And then there's well, let me let me We rephrase that. There's our opinions, then there's the truth. All right.

And Who Lives the Truth? That's Jesus. He also talks about his truth. in in the Bible. And I mentioned before about 1 Timothy chapter 2 about praying for your government.

Well, here's another one for you. If that was enough. Here is one. of Romans thirteen. It even says as it's hitting.

Respect for authority. Oh man. Yeah, it it says that. Looking at it right now. If you don't believe me, pull it up.

That's one of my favorite lines. If you don't believe me, pull it up. I try to be as objectionable as possible. I go with what the Bible says.

So Roman thirteen. Respect for authority. It says, Every one must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and and those in positions of authority have been placed there. By God.

I'll read that again.

So it sticks in.

So it gets nudged in a little bit. little bit better. Romans 13. Respect for authority. Everyone must submit to governing authorities for all authority.

comes from God. And those in positions of authority have been placed there by God. That means that local judge. uh downtown. that you don't like.

They've been placed there by authority. that uh commissioner that uh person on the school board. that uh city council person that senate person, the the congressperson, The the president.

Well, this is all positions of authority. have been placed there by God.

Well why is that? My take on it, I could be wrong. If I am wrong, please call me up and correct me. Hey. This is a learning opportunity.

For it's all. Nobody has it all right. If that person uh says that to you Well, they're they're wrong on that account. Uh there there's no one person that knows everything. Only one that knew everything, only one that had all the power was again Jesus Christ.

So if I'm wrong, if there's something that um Maybe I just need some slight correcting. Hey, let me know. Call me up: 866-348-7884. Again, that is eight six six three four eight. seven eight eight four.

So What do we do with Romans 13? Where it says God has placed people on authority. Mm. And all authority comes from God. What do we do with that?

You know, even if that person is a non-believer. They're still working Under God's authority? If they don't believe in God? Yeah.

God is in is in control of it all. This one person that is a non-believer who's rebelling against God, he doesn't upset. God's plan.

Now if God can still use that person one way or another, but he's not gonna upset God's plan. But we, as believers, as a matter of fact, we want to be on the right side of God's plan. We don't we don't want to be on the wrong side of God's plan. I mentioned Pontus Pilot a while ago. He was on the wrong side of God's plan.

But God still used him. We're still talking about him today as an example of how to use power. or maybe on how not to use power.

So Pontus Pilate's wife. Her name escapes me. I apologize about that. But she had a dream about. Jesus.

And she told her husband This is a holy man. You need to let him go. There w one key time where The husband should have listened to the wife. It should should have.

Now, I'm not sure what would have happened if Pontius Pilate did let him go, but he would have been on the right side of God if he did let him go, if he did not persecute his son. What would that have meant for the cross? What would that have meant for Christianity in general? I don't know, but I'm pretty sure God would have still worked that out. But Again, we want to be on the right side of the cross.

We want to be people that are revering Christ. that are Setting him free.

so to speak. that are supporting him, not condemning him, Pontius Pilate failed at that task. He sent him to the cross. He did not let him go. He hit him with the law.

And Jesus took that. And he went with it. But he used that law to fulfill The Holy Law. to fulfill what duties were given unto him by the ho heavenly father.

So While respecting the law of the land, the law of men, the law of people, the law of Rome, Jesus fulfilled the holy law by going to the cross, dying for our sins, so we can be forgiven. It's massive. That means to to think about that, how God could use flawed Failed people using their broken system of law to still fulfill the holy law and still having a way for us to be saved by our sins. which we were condemned. But using the law he saved us.

But the holy law was over humanly law.

So, while we here as people We can do as Jesus did and fulfill Honour our duties by respecting the law Of this land, no matter where it's at.

Now thankfully Whether you believe it or not, we live in a pretty good system of of law. I mean, to put it bas basically, simply. There's hardly nowhere where we can't go. On foot, by boat, train, plane, what have you. There's hardly nowhere we can't go within the United States.

You wanna go to California? You wanna hoof it there? You're free to do so. You want to take the easy rider route and get on a bike and. See the sites?

Get on Route 66. Hey, have that, you can do that. You want to be the next Elon Musk? You just want to be a guy that works a nine-to-five somewhere, you know, busting bricks somewhere, digging out a ditch. You can do that.

Um You want to be a professional gamer. You want to go catch a movie, see the sights, go catch the Rockets, what have you. You know, there's a guy that I met out in the parking lot, uh JD Salvinger, h owns a business over there in King, buy King's Hot Dogs. Um, he decided to Work with furniture.

So And great guy, by the way, great family. Um also friends of uh the Truth Network.

So, no matter where you want to go, no matter what you want to do, you want to catch some amenities, some festivities, you can do that. There's hardly nothing that we have denied to us as Americans. But there's still evil that can be done. There's still laws that we can break. You run a red light, okay?

You got to face that consequence. Um Ow! Happy. Excuse me. Even in extreme cases.

where death and injury occurs. We don't live in a bubble. You know, the Bible says the rain falls on the just and the unjust alike means that we are subject to the wills of this world, but we are to respond and act as Christians. you know, with truth and love.

So when the evil of the world happens to us, What do we do? We don't want to take the... Law into our own hands. Like like they did out west. Go pick up your pistol.

Meet me at high noon. out in front of the okay corral and you know, we'll we'll have at it. Those used to be the days. Do you want your mom and dad to go do that?

Well, I got stiffed at the job, but I gotta go meet the boss at high noon, you know. Exact my revenge? No. Or do we let law enforcement handle that?

ICE Agency, the law enforcement arm of Border Patrol. The guys that you hear about going in people's homes, going in restaurants, businesses, schools, we're talking about that.

Well, why are we talking about that? Because we do not run from any topics here at Truth Network. We don't hide. We want to hit it from a Christian angle.

So. We are not distracted so by what politicians say. Nothing against politicians. But They tend to go with their own camp. And which is fine, you know, they they have to do what they have to do by by their group.

But we have to do right by our group. Christians. And If there's something that is a hot topic, we want to talk about it. We want to address it. How does that affect our community?

How does that affect me? How does that affect my family? But because we don't want to just bury our heads in the sand and just Hope everything works out, or just pray everything works out. Whoa, Jamal. Are you down in prayer?

No, I'm not down in prayer, but As the Bible says, prayer without works is dead. Prayer without works is dead.

So if you're sitting there and you're just praying and praying and hoping And talking to God, hey, that's fine. That's half the battle. Pray and do.

Okay, and don't believe that one?

Well, Paul said, go to. All the world. and preach the gospel. Mm. A lot of people don't don't like that one.

They that they like to stay in their holy huddles. I go to church. I go to Bible study. I talk to like minded people. I don't want to ruffle any feathers.

I don't want to get embarrassed by having my topic shut down or my ideas shut down or what if they Give me a question uh qui give me a question I can't answer.

Well, you're operating in the spirit of fear. You know, in my opinion, I I could be wrong. But God said that He is not the author of Confusion. He he does not we as Christians don't operate in the spirit of fear.

So When you go back to Faith without works is dead Pray for law enforcement. Pray for your politician. Pray for your neighbour, pray for yourself, pray for non believers. There's power in prayer. And thank God for your prayers.

Well, what does that mean?

Okay, um that could mean Consoling the family that uh got wrapped up in an ice raid. C console a a law enforcement officer. That's getting a lot of scrutiny thrown their way. It's a tough job. And they got to do it day in and day out.

You get shot.

Okay, well, we heal you up and you gotta get back on the beat. Are they even paid enough? Are they supported enough in the community? Dotting bullets Getting beat up, injured. Five, ten, fifteen, twenty years doing that.

going to court, sitting there for hours. People trying to dox you. Doxin means give out your your information so people can can can come to your home. People know what vehicle you drive. People know where you go to school.

and you still asked to do your job and to do it well. And to not fall into wrath, not fall into into corruption, that's a tough job.

So we got to pray. for those people. We've got to pray for Any and everybody. It's a tough world tough world out here. Um, you know, people Want to say, well, we don't need prayers here.

Well, What else what else are you going to go on if you don't pray? I don't want just thoughts. I want the Holy Heavenly Father to come in and intervene.

So yeah, pray, but then go do.

So this also leads me to A question that was posed to me. And It's uh I would say it's a tough question, but it's a question that kinda ha ha has us to Direct us in our daily path. Or at least on how we view certain organiz organizations role in our society.

So the question is. Why does God give these important roles to people? And what does he give? law enforcement their role to do what they need to do.

So specifically to to ICE agents. And they're rounding up people crossing the border illegally.

Some would say that's. Not what anybody should do. We should have open borders. Let anybody and everybody come in.

Okay? I I hear you on that. It'd be nice to have open borders. Nice to just Have open borders across the world. Go wherever you want to.

Problem with that is Or one of the problems he is. Do you leave your house open? everybody. Do you leave your house open to any and everybody to come in and do whatever?

Well, that's my personal house.

Okay, well Isn't our country personal to us? If you lock your doors, lock your windows, to keep. Just any and and everybody out. Why should we not have some kind of security to keep certain people out. No.

We do have a immigration policy for people to come into this country legally.

Now I'm not taking sides. You know, Jesus, we talked about how he supports the law. He supports government. God is the authority over government.

So what does the law say if we are to follow the law? The law says that you have to come here legally. Point blank. It's not what Jamal's saying. It's not what uh Truth Network is saying.

It's what the loss is. And by the way Ask a legal immigrant what they think about the immigration laws. How they had to wait for months on end to come in here, come here, come in here. How they had to pay not hundreds, but thousands of dollars. to come in here.

How to take a test? That was just for them.

Some of them have left family members. But they did it legally, and they don't have to look over their shoulder, and they were able to come here. Yes, we are a nation of immigrants.

Some were forced here. Uh some came here um by a more peaceful route. And we are a melting pot. but we are still a nation of laws.

So does that mean that, um If we Get rid of ICE, get rid of borders, and border patrol. that um We let criminals in? Gang members, gang leaders? I just read on the internet a little while ago not a while ago, but I read the story a while ago where Ice captured a major gang leader. Got him off the streets.

Over in California, They had Not just uh an area taken over. or a block or a home. A hole in Yeah. Apartment complex, a building. was taken over by gang members.

Can you imagine living there? to where You have nowhere to turn to. Your neighbors, your uh the floor above you, below you, your whole building is under gang territory. Gain control. Who won't live like that?

You who do you com c complain to? You can't complain to the landlord. Your landlord's a gang member. But an ice Ray got a gang major gang leader off the streets.

So we do live in a world that has evil. And what I want to bring in You're weak, you're tired, you're burdened, as the Constitution says, or I believe that's the Constitution. I know that's one of our American sayings. Bringing me your your tire, your your your overburden, your your weak.

Okay. Didn't say anything about the criminal. We have enough problems as is.

So, yeah, bringing everybody, but. I don't want any gang members. I don't know any terrorists here. We had the people that uh piloted the planes in 9-11. They were trained at ANT.

Right here in Greensboro. From what I read. It would have been nice if those guys were not let into this country, right?

So While it is nice to care about people and have a heart, yes, we do, but evil still exists, folks. Just look around you. If you don't know, you don't think evil happens in America?

Okay, fine. What's going on in Nigeria right now? Christians being persecuted, killed for who they are. which happened a l a little while ago. where we ended the war.

of october seventh. where people were dancing at a party, having a good time. People came in, terrorists came in and killed them. Just for who they were. Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine.

So evil exists. But what's the Christian role On what we're supposed to do with that. How are we supposed to handle that? There's this. this evil in the world.

What are we doing? Are we just praying? Or repraying and being active. You don't have to be active in politics. You can be a mentor to a big brother, big sister.

Or you can be a big brother, big sister. Make sure somebody doesn't go in the Down the wrong path. There was A movie that I was able to Watch called Break the Cycle I really highly suggest you watch that. Pondale Church, church I go to, they viewed it. at at their church.

Uh, the guy that was uh who the movie was formed after, Cyril. I forget his last name, I'm sorry, but his first name is Cyril. He was a part of that movie. He was talking about breaking the cycle. Go talk to people that have been in trouble.

Take them down the path of Jesus. That's one thing that we can do to create the wrong. But hey, if you haven't been saved, today's the day of salvation. It's all about Jesus. What do we do in anything?
