Bless the Lord, O my soul. Is the beginning of a beautiful psalm. Do you know Psalm 103? My mom, I have called her. She is in the pool.
She is quoting and floating. Mom, will you share this psalm with us today on Truth Talk and on your special scripture podcast with everyone? Please go ahead. I'll be happy to. Psalm 103: Bless the Lord, my soul, and all that is within me.
Bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgiveth all thine iniquities, whose body is thy body. healeth all thy diseases. Who redeemeth thy life from destruction, who crowneth thee with loving kindness and tender mercies. who satisfieth thy mouth with good things, so that thy youth is renewed like the eagles.
The Lord executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed. He made known his ways unto Moses. His accent of the children of Israel. The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and plenteous in mercy. He will not always chide, neither will he keep his anger forever.
He hath not dealt with us after our sins, nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him. For he knoweth our frame, he remembereth that we are dust.
As for man, his days are as grass, as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth. for the wind passes over it and it is gone. and the place thereof shall know it no more. But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear Him, and His righteousness unto children's children, to such as keep His covenant, and to those that remember His commandments to do them. The LORD hath prepared His throne in the heavens, and His kingdom ruleth over all.
Bless the Lord, ye His angels, that excel in strength, that do His commandments, hearkening unto the voice of His word. And I see the LORD, all ye his hosts, ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure, Bless the Lord, all his works in all places of his dominion. Bless the Lord, O my soul. Wow. Psalm 103.
Psalm 103, Mom. Thank you. What a blessing. We're going to make it. It's challenging to quote.
You're floating. You're quoting. You're getting some exercise, but you're also giving us spiritual exercise. Mom, your quick takeaway today, every time we do this, and I call you for my show, my national show, Truth Talk, I'm Stu Apperson. Big shout out to our friends at PRS, Public Reading of Scripture, and all they're doing to encourage the scriptures.
And big shout out to my mom for pouring God's word into me. Mom, what's one scripture memory takeaway for all of our listeners real quick? I know you've got to get back to your scripture memory and your quoting and floating, but give us one poolside scripture challenge to all of our listeners before I let you go.
Well, I think. For everyone to memorize Matthew 6:33, seek ye first the kingdom of God in his righteousness. And all these things shall be added unto you. It's a great biblical principle. Seek God first.
Always put him first. Oh, and what you do is you review the scripture, right, Mom? How important is it to go back to scriptures you've memorized previously and review those things so you have it ready in your mind? It's very important. In fact, the reason for memorizing actually is to meditate on scripture and so.
The whole process is an act of worship.
So as you're learning your verse You're meditating on it, you're thinking about it. Then one day you have it memorized. And then you start quoting it and you're thinking on it. you're meditating on it and reviewing it because what you don't use, you lose.
So you want to continually meditate on scripture. Psalm 1 says blessed happy is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly nor standeth in the way of sinners nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful but his delight is in the law of the lord and in his law doth he meditate day and night, and he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season. His leaf also shall not wither, and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The ungodly are not so, but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
So that's one example of the importance of meditating on scripture. And there are many other verses I could quote that deal with the importance of meditating. Wow. Well, that's amazing, Mom. And I tell you what, meditation is like spiritual medication.
What a blessing. And we're so grateful for you. Quoting and floating, floating and quoting, what does that do? It means that anywhere you go, wherever you are, in the water or along the way, the scripture is with you and you're teaching your children. And you've done that with us, Mom.
And now your grandkids are, and your great-grandkids are hearing you teach the word. Folks, we're going to make this a podcast.
So we'll figure out a way for you to regularly download and listen to Mimi, my mom, Nancy Everson, quoting scripture. It's the Word of God. It's quick and powerful. It's sharper than a two-edged sword. And, Mom, if a Chinese Christian in the underground church, and I've heard many accounts of they've actually written the Bible on their skin when they had their scriptures taken away, there's been cases.
One guy wrote the Gospel of John on his body. I've heard tales of all kinds of things, one Bible available for a church of 300, and they have a scarcity in.
Some places, the word of God, but they really do hide it in their heart, literally. And so we thank you for pouring the word of God into us, my mom, Nancy Everson. God bless you, mom, and we're going to get out of here. What's your favorite Bible verse before we go? My favorite first.
You may have already said it. That's a hard word. Do look three. I think it's so important to seek first the Lord. And there are just so many.
It's very hard to pick one, just one verse. There's so many.
Well, the Matthew 633 one is one that you poured into us early, and it stayed with us. And that's a good challenge for everyone. Maybe each week we'll challenge folks to take one verse, one verse, and memorize that. And watch what God does as that, as the word of God comes in you, it starts to affect and influence your mind. And also, it influences what comes out of you.
Mom, I love you. Thank you so much for blessing us. Oh, honey, thank you. Thank you. And God bless all of you listeners and get into the word.
Amen. True top.
