In this episode, we dive into Psalm 1 and discover two very different paths: the way of the righteous and the way of the ungodly. Stu is joined by his mom, who has memorized all six verses of Psalm 1, to discuss the importance of meditating on God's Word, guarding what we put into our hearts and minds, and allowing Scripture to shape our lives. This is the Truth Network. Who listening to my voice right now wants to be happy?

Now there's another word for that. In the Bible, and that word is blessed. And it's the first word of the longest book in the Bible, the book of Psalms. And my Wonderful, beautiful, amazing mom. has this first First and the whole chapter of Psalms one Memorized.

Why has this chapter been Critical, important in your life, and why is it important for everyone to read it and study it and even memorize it?

Well, I think it's really the key to everything because The Bible says as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he. and out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. And so what you put into your heart and mind is what comes out. And I think it's so crucial that we take time to meditate on scripture and really internalize the word of God. And then activated in our lives.

So Psalm 1 explains, I think, the importance, and it also gives the results. Of what happens when you do meditate on his word and love it and delight in it. and meditate on it day and night. It tells you that there are many wonderful benefits. And the bottom line is.

God's hand of blessing will be on your life as you love and honor his word. Wow.

Well, I'm so excited to have you quote it for our listeners, Mom. And I just think of these two contrasting ends. To two different paths that are laid out in this psalm. You know, the end, if you go to the very end of your life, you look, are you like the chaff? that the wind blows away with no impact.

No lasting legacy, no kingdom imprint, or are you like the tree? That's fruitful, that's producing fruit, that's planted, that's rooted. By the rivers of water.

So, mom, please quote this for us. And I know it'll be a blessing to our listeners. And it's very brief. It's six verses, but it's power-packed.

Well, I'd be glad to.

Someone Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly. nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in his law doth he meditate day and night. and he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season his leaf also shall not wither and whatsoever he doeth, shall prosper. The ungodly are not so, but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.

Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. for the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous. But the way of the ungodly shall perish. Psalm 1. Mom, thank you for sharing that.

How easy would it be? Give us some baby steps. This is sometimes you refer to as a real good Kind of toe in the water, like a starter psalm or a starter chapter. If you're going to memorize one, why not this one? How can our folks, our listeners, Start with this psalm, memorizing it just like you, and quote it just like you just did, and teach it to their children.

Well, the way you can do it, you can read the entire Psalm. every day multiple times thoughtfully really meditating on it as you read it Or you can do a verse a week. or a couple verses a week. And just spend five minutes every day going over and over the particular burrs. Or versus And honestly, even if you believe you don't have a good memory, at the end of the week, you should know it.

If you spend a good five minutes every day going over it very thoughtfully, thinking about what you're you're saying and reading. And that's really The the simple method, it's just repetition. You can learn anything if you go over it enough times. That's always been my method of memorizing. And we lovingly call it quoting and floating, and mom, I think.

That might be what you're doing right now. Take us into your life right now. Paint the picture for everyone listening. I'm actually in the pool as we speak, quoting and floating. I love it.

I love to get in the pool and kick away. And I have a flotation belt so I can even have my Bible out here and hold my Bible. And still kick with my two legs and move with one of my arms as I'm holding my Bible. Right now I'm holding my phone.

So that's my method. You know, the Bible says to permeate your home with the Word of God when you're walking in the way, when you're sitting down, when you're lying down. Throughout the day, whatever you're doing. And that's one thing I've always tried to redeem the time. by making use of The different moments in the day when you're exercising or just relaxing.

Take advantage of that time to go over scripture. True to the
