All right, so yesterday um I talked about I talked about the difference between Nature and person, and this is important stuff, it was all important stuff. And Today, I haven't released an article, but I'm working on it between projects, between all the kinds of stuff I had to do. working on our article um What does the Bible say about the reprobate? or the depraved. And what I like about my job is that I can Get a question and just go, huh, I wonder what the Bible says, what does the Bible say about that?
And I could just sit and work on it. And then write an article. I can talk about it on radio. I use these facts that I learned out of the Word of God in preaching, teaching, and things like that. And so, um I'm going to talk about that a little bit.
I haven't released the article because it's only about halfway completed, but I found some interesting stuff out. And uh The word reprobate really only occurs in the King James, at least in the New Testament. And other versions don't use it. They use the English depraved. It's the Greek word akodimas, akodimas.
And it means uh not standing the test or unqualified, uh worthless. Uh unfit for any good deed. And so, as I went through the Nest for the Bauer Art Gendrick's lexicon. And did research. And I enjoy research.
One of the things I'll do, I'll do a study like that: how does the word occur in the New Testament? How many times does it occur? Where are it? Are those occurrences? And what I'll do, like I've done in this article, I may or may not include it, I've made a table with every occurrence.
of the um of the word in Greek. and it only occurs nine times. Yeah. New Testament and um So Then, upon further study. came to Romans chapter one, starting at verse eighteen.
Now, the word reprobate is depraved in most translations. And that's in Romans 1.28.
Well, I've known about Romans 1, 18 through 32 for quite a while as a section. as a pericope, because it all kind of goes together.
Now you could break it up and I could preach a lot out of these things. of these verses. And The reprobate, remember, they are the ones who they're not saved. That doesn't mean they couldn't be saved, but the standing of where they are, they're unqualified, worthless, they don't do any good. And so, generally, what the issue of reprobation or depravity.
is is described in Romans one eighteen through thirty two. And this is a, and I'm going to go through it, but this is an important area of scripture. Because It's where Paul, the apostle, is discussing and condemning the unrighteous uh Gentiles. generally speaking, Gentiles. And he pulls a fast one on the Jews as he's writing.
And in the next chapter, he says, Therefore, you have no excuse. Every one of you passes judgment. And he goes on in verse 17, he says, If you better name Jew.
So, what he's doing is talking about the condition of the unbelievers, how bad off they are. But then he in chapter 2 of Romans 1. He says, but don't don't judge him, because you're guilty of this stuff too, you know. And so it was kind of an interesting thing. That's a real light overview of Romans 1 and 2.
So. What I did was I went through the uh the chapter of starting at verse 18 And I developed a list of the things that are there. What I think I'm gonna do instead of just tell you the list, which I found 12 things. probably get thirteen, fourteen out of it, depending on how how I want to divide stuff. What I thought I would do is just read through.
these uh these verses because I think they're interesting. And this is what it says in Romans 1:18.
Now, remember, this is talking about the ungodliness. And if you're a Christian, This is not talking about you. The Christian has been made a new creature, 2 Corinthians 5, 17, is born again.
Alright, John 3, 3 through 8. It isn't dwelt by God, and it's Romans, excuse me, John 14:23.
So what about the unbeliever? What does the Bible say about the unbeliever? And to me, it's a sinner. But I wanted more specifics, so here we go. This is Romans 1:18.
I'm going to just do verse by verse and go through and teach on it lightly. For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness, and Unrighteousness of men who Suppress the truth in unrighteousness. That's one of the characteristics. of the reprobate, of the Depraved is that they suppress the truth. Verse 19 says, Because that which is known about God is evident within them, for God made it evident.
Now we can get into the theology of this as talking about the imagode, the image of God in us. But we won't get into that. Verse 20 says, For since the creation of the world, His, that's God's invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature. have been clearly seen, being understood through what what has been made, so that they are without excuse.
Okay. For even though they knew God, They did not honor. him as God, or give thanks.
So that's another one I've I okay, the reprobate. This is Romans 1.21. They don't honor God as God. nor do they give thanks.
Okay. Then the same verse, they became futile in their speculations.
So they're their thinking, their cognition. is futility. And their foolish heart was darkened. That means the very the person of what they are in their sinfulness is darkened. And so it says You know, fool professing to be wise, they became fools.
And they exchange, verse 23, they exchange the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible men and of birds, four-footed animals and crawling creatures.
Okay. So I just summarized this uh that the uh Glorified corruptible man. And Excuse me, yeah, they glorify corruptible man and basically creation and stuff like this, created orders and creatures. And Something really interesting occurred to me as I was thinking about this. Let me get through this a little bit and I'll talk about that a little bit more.
Therefore, God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity.
so that their bodies would be dishonoured among them. Yeah. And that was an interesting one for me as well, because they are given over by God. to their impurity. the lusts of their hearts This is really interesting.
Verse 25 says: For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the creator.
Now this, when I read this this morning as I was going through working on the article, I immediately thought of Roman Catholics and Eastern Orthodox. Where they now the verse here says worshiped and served the creature rather than the creator.
Well, a Catholic EO would come back and say that, you know, they worship God, and they do. But in here is the condition also of worshiping, serving. the created order. And that's exactly what the Catholics East Orthodox do. in there their adoration of Mary.
In the creation, and they elevate her to a place that it's just. unfavorable. It is not good. And of course Mormons do the same thing.
Now their theology is a little bit more abstract in that there's supposed to be an eternal God out of Alma 11 and and D and C one thirty and one hundred thirty two talks about uh God and eternality and stuff like that. And there's a lot of inconsistencies there. There really are. But, nevertheless, to serve the created order. And in Mormonism, God is.
And be careful how I say this because they say, on one hand, he is eternal, but on the other hand, he's exalted to become a God.
So there's some real inconsistency there in Mormonism. We'll get into that now. But check this out. Verse twenty six, for this reason This reason God gave them over to degrading passions. for their women Exchange a natural function for that which is unnatural.
This is a condemnation of lesbianism. In verse twenty seven, in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error. in their persons. is where the judgment occurs.
Now that it is an interesting a concept because person here is how to. And it just means one's himself, one herself, one's itself, just the person. What is that? Because notice what it says. Just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to the depraved mind, to the reprobate mind.
to do those things which are not proper So God gives them over.
Now notice what's happening. They have sin in their hearts and minds and the judgment of God is to give them over to it. then and there. This is the only Time or only instance I'm aware of in the New Testament where the judgment of God. Is actually, I just thought of another one.
But the judgment of God is given upon them right away for their sin, but actually. There's the judgment of God is upon Ananas and Sapphira in Acts 2. 5 and a judgment comes upon them. And in 1 Corinthians 5, the man having relations with his father's wife, judgment occurs there.
So there's two where physical death occurs. This is the spiritual judgment that they give over to their mind, that they then are full of wickedness and varying things that it talks about. And verse 32 is really interesting. They know the ordinances of God that those who practice such things are worthy of death. They not only do the same, but give hearty approval to those who practice them.
Just think of the pride festivals. How they give hearty approval to those who practice these same sinful things. Yeah. So let me just summarize here a little bit before the break comes up. is uh The issues of the depraved, what are the characteristics of the reprobate or the depraved?
They suppressed the truth. Do not honour God or give thanks to Him. They're futile in their thinking. their foolish hearts are darkened. they glorify corruptible man and creatures.
they're given over to the lusts of their heart. They worship and serve the Creator rather than the Creator. they are given over to degrading passions of sexual perversions. They're given over to a depraved mind as well. They're filled with various forms of wickedness.
They are without understanding, they are untrustworthy, unloving. unmerciful. and they approve of those who practice uh they're the same depravity. This Is uh is what the uh the characteristics are of the depraved.
So I've enjoyed going through this because it's knowledge, it's learning what the scripture says about people. And I can only say that by God's grace, I'm saved. It's all of this, God's grace. Amen and amen. There's the music.
We write back after these messages, please. Please stay tuned. We'll be right back. It's Matt Slick Live, taking a call at 877-207-2276. Here's Matt Slick.
Oh Bradaw and welcome back to the show. If you want to give me a call, we have two open lines: 8772-072276. Get to Jermaine from California. Jermaine, welcome, Brother. You're on the air.
Okay. Hey man, um I wanted to ask you about I wanted to touch on baptisms again. I've been in the room with family members and and others who And it's no offense, and I'm not trying to be prideful or arrogant, but I know them to be biblically ignorant, but good people. They'll partake in communion because they had quote had been baptized already, but When I did a little digging, I found out some of my in-laws and others had been baptized. As Jehovah's Witnesses, as children.
and some even into the uh Mormon faith when they were young. And they they don't attend those things anymore. They attend Christian churches, but they They seem to think that That baptism was enough, and I always had the question. Hmm. You know, what do we do with people who are baptized and they believe they're being baptized?
Unto Jesus, but a lot of these faiths will baptize you unto their religion. And not to Christ. Yeah. Question of consideration I wanted to send your way. Yeah, those baptisms are invalid.
Because they're not done in the name of the true and living God. They're done, the Jehovah's Witnesses baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and I believe. Uh God's organization or God's holy active force. The Mormons, their concept of God is a triad, three separate gods.
So if they use the exact same formula, it's not in the name of the true and living God, but a false God.
So those baptisms are simply invalid and they just don't count. And so anybody who then becomes a Christian out of those false religions, Mormonism, Jehovah's Witnesses, needs to be baptized properly in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in the Trinitarian monotheistic system. And that's what they need to do, okay?
Okay, and that's. I'm glad you said that. That's something to bring up to them. And a few of them legit are just. They're just ignorant.
They have no clue. What they were baptized into. They were just very young when it happened, and they considered that. has a, you know, kind of like a check mark where, okay, I'm baptized now. Yeah, um they're not.
They're baptized in a false baptism.
So it's an actual baptism, but it's not a true baptism. And so if you know if you want, give me a cell phone, speakerphone, I'll talk to them. but they need to be rebaptized. Uh they need to get baptized properly. In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
uh which the J Dubs can't do and the Mormons can't do. Uh because Like I said, both of their gods are false gods. Even though they try and use the Bible and use the terms and use the words, but they mean a different thing, so yeah.
Okay. Okay, um, just real quick.
So, what do you do with those who have been baptized as children? And Legitimate Christian churches, but they don't even remember it. Wouldn't that also warn a rebaptism of something you're making a conscious decision of?
Now this is where it gets more theologically difficult. Um So There's two main ways to look at this. One is covenantal baptism, one is non-covenantal baptism. In covenantal baptism, in the name of the Father, Son, Holy Spirit, in true Christian baptism, a consistent covenantalist could thereby then say that the children are under the federal headship of the father, And that Since infants were included in the Old Abrahamic covenant, which is still valid, then they could be included in the New Testament covenant, where circumcision is replaced by baptism, and therefore in the covenantal theology, they could then say that such a baptism as an infant in the true Trinitarian one was valid.
So I could make that argument and I could defend that argument. On the other hand, there are those who don't hold to covenant theology. And they recognize that there's no description of any infant baptism in the New Testament. And so, what they'll do is say, What I see is is not covenantal baptism of of infants, Even though there's whole households baptized, but they'll say, normally speaking, they're of the adults. And so they want to submit to that adult baptism system.
Because, in my opinion, Both of these can be defended from Scripture. theologically and practically. Then I think at this point that it should go to the conscience. of the one who uh wants to consider baptism. In the sense, if they are covenantal and Presbyterian, then I could make the case their infant baptism was legitimate.
If they are not and don't hold to that, then I could theoretically. Even though I affirm infant baptism as a covenant sign, but not as for salvation, I could make the case for them that, you know, since it's not recorded explicitly in Scripture, therefore we see no declaration of it, therefore get baptized again.
Now At this point, what I do is I leave it up to the individual and their conscience before God.
So if they're in their conscience they say, I affirm my infant baptism covenantally speaking as legitimate, they don't need to do it again, that's between them and God. If they say, I don't affirm it, I don't recognize it, I don't think it was correct, then in my opinion, go get baptized. and do what you believe is correct before God and His Word. And so that's why I say Uh Be careful. be precise as you can and if you're not sure Go get baptized.
and trust that God will not judge you for getting baptized twice.
Okay, it's not a big deal. And that you want to honor God that way.
So. You see what I'm saying?
Okay. Yeah, I I I follow along with you. Um And I guess you know, those who feel convicted will will do it. But Do you think that people will be held responsible or accountable for what they're ignorant of? Like if they.
Yes. Or is it okay. Yes, and I'll show you the Bible verse for that, okay? It's 1 Corinthians 4:4. All right?
So for I am conscious of nothing against myself. That's what Paul's saying. I don't know of anything I'm doing wrong. He's ignorant about varying things. He says, For I am conscious of nothing against myself, yet I am not by this acquitted.
but the one who examines me is the Lord.
So that's the verse I use about this very issue. Your ignorance is not an excuse.
However, God does take into account what we know. and what we don't know. And The standard is God, not our sincerity, not our knowledge. Not our ability, it's God. And yet he's very gracious at the same time.
Where he, you know, someone might be ignorant of something and God wants them to know something better and they just don't learn it. And God's not going to spank them down and judge them and all that. But uh we are to learn and we are not to remain ignorant.
So that's what I would say, okay? All right, yeah, well Turn it over to the best judge of all. I I like that in the end. Amen, brother. Amen.
He's the judge. I just like to lay out opportunities and options for people so they can make their own decisions. All right.
Well, thank you, Matt. God bless you. God bless you, brother. God bless. Ooh, perfect timing.
All right, that was Jermaine. We'll be right back with Jordan from New Mexico talking about the Trinity with an interesting discussion. Hopefully, we'll be right back. Please, stay tuned. It's Matt Slick Live, taking your call at 877-207-2276.
Here's Matt Slick. Oh, Robert, welcome back to... The show. Let's get on with Jordan from New Mexico. Jordan.
Welcome, Brett. You're on the air.
Hey Matt, uh I had a quick question for you. Um And I wanted to know what you thought about it. Have you Heard. And do you affirm to the doctrine of appropriation? What a problem.
I'm not sure what you mean by it. Yeah, like with the doctrine of appropriation, when it speaks like you know how we have like inseparable operations and stuff where Okay. Holding to like all of them, all they don't do things separately from each other, and then with the doctrine of appropriation where It's Says, like, since they're completely inseparable, you can attribute one of the attributes specifically towards one of the persons of the Trinity without. distinguishing that each of the other persons uh can do the same thing. Yeah, I've heard this before, and the word appropriation has been used before.
Vaguely, so I haven't come across it very often.
So uh They can work distinctively and that's true.
So Let me just say. That God is a Trinity and that the nature of God is uh triune with omniscience, omnipotence, omnipresence, etcetera. the persons in the Godhead are the ones who act. And that each person has necessary, or we could say, essential properties. related only to each person.
So the person of the Father is the only one who begets. The person of the Son is the only one who is begotten. The person of the Holy Spirit is the only one who. proceeds.
So we call it um Uh generation affiliation, inspiration.
So In that, we could see there's distinctions so that the indexicals, I, you, yours, me, mine, words that are used to identify individuals. The indexicals then are used Between the persons, which then show the distinction of their relation. to each other when They have differentiation of Properties, begetting, begotten, inspiration, or proceeding. As well as the recognition of distinguishing between indexicals designating their separate persons.
Okay, so. Having said all that, there is the condition of what's called perichoresis, where the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. all mutually indwell each other. From this and all of this, we get the issue of inseparable operations. which is that the work of one is I'm going to be careful how I say this.
is experienced worked by the others. Jesus hints at this in John 5:19, John 5:30. I can only do what I see the Father doing. And so I uh I'm still working through uh Diving into that more.
Okay, so now we get into the issue of appropriation. Speech of the three persons acting distinctly. Even though every external work Is uh is the undivided act of all three persons together.
So it gets more complicated. And so that that what I was doing was laying down the foundation so that I could get to your question better. If if that helped or not. I don't know if it did or not. Yeah.
And I've been actually, it's kind of funny, been having this kind of discussion more in the past few weeks. In fact, la yesterday walked five miles around my neighborhood. and I was talking about the Trinity with some oneness people online. And unfortunately, they became rude. And I just said, okay, when you guys are rude, I'm out.
And they said, well, go ahead. I go, fine. And it was gone. But it had gone on for about an hour, really good questioning. And.
They were trying to create problems. That didn't exist because, as I politely told them, I said, they're not understanding, for example. The necessary characteristics to each person, and the issue of indexicals, and how nature doesn't do anything, it's persons who do things. And I was going through all this stuff with them, and it was a good discussion. I think what I'm going to do is study this issue of appropriation even more because.
It's like God is putting together pieces of the puzzle for me suddenly, seriously.
So now I have these doctrines called Uh Immutability uh divine simplicity Uh essence. Or Usia. Uh how many um hypostasis Then we have peritoresis, Inseparable operations, appropriation, and then necessary properties or essential properties. to the usia and essential properties to the hypostasis.
So All of this is I have to get all this in my head so that I could relate them. Relate them to the average person. Make it sense.
So that's what I'm doing. Whenever you get all that stuff out, I would love to read it because I would love to. learn with this learn this stuff with you, you know. No, actually, I started a book I put on hold going through basic Christian theology, and I went through monotheism, and the next chapter is on the Trinity. And it's really interesting that as soon as I started working on it, A few weeks ago, this is when all of a sudden this uh set of doors just opened up.
And so when I get all this down even more. I'm going to have to find ways. To explain it, I might do a paragraph where I explain it.
So, here's the complicated part, it's a very easy-read book. it's very easy. I just talk to you like you're sitting next to me. And you might think this, and you might think that, but here's your go. I want to be very easy for people.
And it's the same style I wrote to Apologetics and Atheism, and people really like that casual approach.
So, um So yeah, and I'm going to get into more indexicals. And then what's called um What's it called? Leibniz law of transitivity. Of of uh transitive Transitivity of not identical.
So there's a anyway, there's something else.
So I Oh. Yeah. I thought it was transmittivity of identicals. I think it is, but I keep thinking. Oh, it's identicals, not indexicals.
That's what I was thinking. Yeah, transitivity of identicals, not indexicals.
So uh I've I've had discussions with people where they confuse The necessary properties of the persons to the on toss. And make sure that's what I've been talking about.
Some people have been doing the same thing for me as well.
So that's why I I was like trying to get into the same thing.
Well, good. See, you're motivating me to write about this. In fact, when I'm in Southern California, I'll be discussing in a couple of weeks, I have to go to a conference on a Saturday down there. Uh And I'm going to speak in an Islam conference. I'm going to do a public address to everybody, and then I'm going to do a workshop.
And the public address to everybody is: the Trinitarian being is the. necessary conditions for intelligibility of which the Muslim god cannot meet. And then I'm going to do a workshop thing of why the Trinitarian being can provide the foundation for redemptive work. Whether the Islamic God Tawid, which is one God, one person, strict Unitarian, whether the Islamic God cannot. I'm going to work through this very simply.
I'm going to have handouts and stuff like that for the workshop and stuff like that.
So Okay. I have one more question.
So or actually Like just a statement, I don't know if you've ever heard of Blake Osler, but like he's really motivating a lot of Mormons to be social Trinitarians. I think that would be a good Um but like my question Uh So I was reading Van Til, and Van Til, I can't remember where exactly, but Van Til basically says like the people who Affirm apostolic succession alongside the word of God, they fall into co-relativism. Yes, that's true. Do you mind like. Can you explain that for me?
I'm like, I'm trying to wrap my head around that. Sure, think of it, and I'm going to reverse it a little bit so it makes sense.
So think of the concept of an ultimate. The ultimate is that of which there is nothing equal and nothing greater.
So God is by default the ultimate. He's the ultimate foundation, the ultimate source.
Now, when I ask a Catholic, an Eastern Orthodox, what's your ultimate, I can usually get them to admit pretty quickly it's God. Where does God reveal himself? In Jesus and in the written word.
So I say, is the written word equal, functionally equal, to the ultimate. Because it's his word, we don't have direct access. Let me dial 9 on the phone and get to God. We have His Word.
So, what they'll do is say that the traditions and/or magisterium and/or their church. Are equally ultimate with the scriptures because, and this is the problem, their scriptures or their position of authority. Is what defines scripture, but to get the authority from the scripture that defines scripture.
So it's circular and falls on its own. This is why relativism is. that raises its ugly head because it's relative to what they want and desire instead of an ultimate. If you don't have a single ultimate, you have the relativism of their own church's validity being the arbiter of what truth is with right back. It's Matt Slick Live, taking a call at 877-207-2276.
Here's Matt Slick. All Robbie, welcome back to the show. Let's get back on with Jordan from New Mexico. Jordan, welcome. You're on the air.
Okay. Does that help? Uh Yeah, that um Okay. Uh Sorta, sorta. Let me just let me just get through.
I probably could watch it again and and retake. But yeah, like a lot of it's making sense where you're having two ultimates now. And now that when you have two ultimates You're essentially putting God on the same level as These other authorities as man made, and now God has to be able to speak. through that. Right.
Then it becomes relative in the sense then it's not absolute, it depends what the church says.
Okay. Oh, okay. Yeah, yes, okay, that makes a lot more sense. All right.
Okay, yeah. Yeah, that helps a lot. I appreciate it.
Okay, well good, brother. Good stuff.
Okay. Okay. Oh, thank you, Matt. I appreciate it, man. All right, man.
God bless. Okay. All right.
Hey, before we get on the next caller, I just want to let you know a couple things. One, I put. I I put up an article on my wife, um Uh today. And you can go check it out if you want the home page, there's a picture of her. And this is short and sweet.
Um, miss her. And uh when I was looking for stuff about her on the site, I realized I really hadn't put much up, so I dedicated a page to her, very short and sweet. And um There you go. Also The fact is, we are in need of financial support. Please consider supporting us.
We do appreciate the past 24 hours, people have donated, and thank you very much. We really do help that. Really, really do help it. We really do appreciate the help, and uh, just want to let you know that all of you out there. We recognize how difficult things can become financially if you're able to support us.
Even say $10 a month. It is super helpful. And we do need it because sometimes things get tight, and let's just say things are tight.
So that's it, just letting you know. And if you want to help out, all you got to do is go to carm.org. Top of the page, you'll see the word donate. And you can go check it out. And it's really easy to set up.
Really appreciate it. Let's get to next longest waiting is Whew Steve from Utah. Steve, welcome. You're on the air.
Hi, Matt. How are you? Doing fine, by God's grace. Doing fine. What do you got, buddy?
I got kind of a two part question about Uh God being all-knowing.
So, um I'll knowing if everything that's coming in the future as well, correct? Yes. Okay. Then when Why would God create Satan and then create man knowing that he was gonna sin, Because it was God's desire to do so.
So he didn't create Satan as evil. He created him as an angel who was good, who then rebelled. God knew he would rebel. And it's like He knew what? He knew up front.
Before he even created him, that he would rebel. Yep.
Okay. Yeah, just like you know, we had my wife and I had children, we knew they were going to rebel. But it didn't mean that they weren't responsible or that we were the cause of their rebellion.
So, but God did this. And one of the theories, the one I lean towards, is that since God is love, 1 John 4:8. and the greatest act of love is self sacrifice, John fifteen, thirteen, I can't help but wonder if the glory of God, which is fully realized in the sufficiency of the Trinity, is further exemplified in self-sacrifice, which you can't do until there's sin in the world by which the righteous one would be killed, and the ultimate source of that sin is the evil one, the devil.
So, I can kind of see how it all blends together, and both the conditions, or all conditions, would then glorify God.
Okay. Okay. And then he created laws Knowing that man would not be able to keep those laws, correct? Of course.
Okay, I got that. Um And God being unchanging Yes.
So between the Old and the New Testament. There was a dramatic change when Christ atone for our sins Where we not keep that law. You're mixing categories.
So God is unchanging, deals with his nature. It does not mean he won't change how he relates to us and how he works with us. Because those relations Like my wife and I, before we got married, she's human, I'm human. We have natures. In our marriage, our relation changed, and certain characteristics to that, but we didn't change in our natures.
God does not change in his nature, but he can change how he relates to people in different situations. That's what's going on with that. You don't want to mix the category of God's nature, which doesn't change, and God's actions, which can change.
Okay. Okay. Um One other kind of off the wall question is Where Okay, Mike, good. The book of Philippians, the people lived in Philippi. Ephesians, they lived in Ephesus.
What about dilations and Col Colossians Wh where was the City that they were in, I mean, the colostomies, or I don't know. Uh well the situation. Yeah, I've been to actually the the all the archaeological uh locations. I've been to Call of Say, which is just a tell. Call okay.
Yeah, call of say. I've been to the tell, and it's about. Two, three hundred feet long and about 150 feet wide. A flat kind of a top area with a path, and you get up to it. That's where Colus or the Colossians were.
So I've been to FS. The Galatians, is that Galilee or? Oh no, Galatia. No, Galilee sea is the body of water. And Galatia is a region.
A geographical region.
Okay. Okay. I just that I knew the others, but I couldn't quite figure out the places that they were from, so. Yeah. So it's uh Galatia and the Colossians, who's from Colossae, Ephesians from Ephesus.
Right. And so the seven churches of Revelation. But anyway, Ephesians and Colossians. Mm-hmm.
Okay, yeah, that was just a question I've kind of always had. Uh and it's you know, it's not really too important, but it's just I like to know certain things about pretty much everything in the Bible, so Uh yeah, there you go. All right, buddy.
Well, hey, I appreciate your time. No problem.
Okay. Okay. God bless. Bye.
Okay. All right, now let's see who's the next longest waiting person is Carl from South Carolina. Carl, welcome. You're on the air.
Hi, Matt. Hey, I got a question on Psalms 22, verse 6.
Okay. In regards to that, they're talking about a worm and I you know, I know the aspect of Jesus talking about the humility you went through and looking at him less than that of a man and that of a worm. Is there anything tie in that they talk about This worm from that around the Middle East called the Crimson Worm. Have you heard about that in the tie-in with Prophecy of Christ. Yes, there's lots of typology about that very worm.
I've forgotten most of it. But um It's translated worm eight times in Psalm 22. The word is Tauia, Taula, Taulea. Taulak. And And a worm crimson once scarlet crimson worm female.
Scarlet stuff, scarlet the dye made from the dread.
So it could be the same. Uh I don't know off the top of my head, but it it could be.
So, it just, you know, Psalm 22 is a lament over David. And, uh,.
So the worm is a contemptible uh creature. And, you know, because it says the reproach of men is despised by the people.
So he's using that idea of what a worm is: this contemptible little thing. and it's related to Christ himself. Yeah. And also, just one more question about when Jesus is talking about the churches and talking about the one with but you're neither hot nor cold and you're lukewarm and it'll spew you out. is there is also a tie in of what they were talking about on the sources of water, of one being hot being good source of one being cold being good source of that of cold, and there were a putrid source of their water being lukewarm?
Right, I forgot the area, but geographically there were different there were springs, hot springs and cold springs. And the hot spring was for bathing and health reasons. Cold was refreshing, drinkable, and things like that. And it's out of Revelation chapter 3. And so Laodicea, which I've been to Laodicea, by the way, and I don't know if Eric's listening and.
Terry. Hey, thanks for enjoying going there.
So they like I said, they were medicinal. And when these would mix, it wasn't really good for either anything. It wasn't therapeutic. It wasn't refreshing. It just wasn't really much of anything.
So got they got rid of it. And that's just all he just uses in the common understanding.
So can you go into the interpretation as just saying, okay, cold is a usable refreshing water, hot is that for medicinal and bathing and cleaning? And then your aspect of cold and hot in the sense of Well, some people say uh uh you're neither hot, meaning I'm You know, on fire for the Lord and cold, meaning you're maybe a non-believer, but it you know, how do you look in that in a sense of your interpretation of Is it more the water in the sense of usability? Or is it just complacency with your faith? Or is it just both? It could be both.
This is just one of those areas where people have different interpretations, and it's okay to have slightly different interpretations. He says there, I know your deeds that you're neither hot nor uh you're neither cold nor hot. I wish that you were cold or hot. What you do is really for him or not for him, is kind of ambivalent. And this is a lackadaisical attitude that God doesn't want from Christians.
Make a decision, stand up, be what you're going to be, is basically what he's saying. Because you're lukewarm, either hot or cold, I'll spit you out of my mouth. He's using the. The illustration of being useful to God and being appropriate with God. And of course Hot is medicinal, cold is refreshing.
So we could say both of those are what we're supposed to be as Christians. Be one or the other, kind of a thing. But if you're lukewarm in the middle, not doing anything, what good are you?
So he's saying basically the modern slick version would be: get off your rear. If you're a Christian, act like it. Let's see it.
Okay. Yeah. Hey, did you when when you were i in that uh town, did you actually see some of these like wells or the sources of water? 'Cause just curious if if you saw it did did it actually smell and was it putrid or Or was that long gone by now? Um, I didn't see them.
Uh we we went through varying areas with streams and things like that, rivers. But in the context of what we're talking about there, Laodicea in Turkey, we went to a place called Pamakule, which is just phenomenal. I just recommend people look up Pamakule. Uh And they're medicinal. It's really good.
You just got to see the pictures. It's incredibly beautiful. We've got to walk in the water there. And we're out of time. I can't really go on.
So, hey, brother, sorry about that. We're out of time. And Luke from D.C., call back tomorrow.
