Yeah, I do. You could argue about Texas or maybe say, well, Arkansas had injuries, but they played the most quality games and won the most quality games. Live from the Rich Eisen Show studio in Los Angeles.
Good night, the two-hand stuff. First moment of March Madness has arrived. Earlier on the show, senior writer for the MMQB, Albert Breer. Coming up, Louisville quarterback, Tyler Shuck. Michigan state head coach, Tom Izzo.
Former NFL general manager, Mike Maiam. And now, it's Rich Eisen. Our number two of the Rich Eisen Show is on the air. We've got an overreaction Monday on a Tuesday following up an overreaction Monday podcast that's out there still for everybody to listen to. It's still quite relevant. Certainly, the open talking about Aaron Rodgers and us waiting for him, Chris, when we were recording that before Monday's show, they were like, you know, this might be, you know, when you record a podcast, obviously you wanted to stay evergreen as long as possible. We're like, well, we'll still start with it even though it might be, you know, completely and 100% curb stomped by actual news breaking.
But here we are and it's still quite relevant. What we talked about on the overreaction Monday pod available wherever you get your podcasts. Mike Maiam, joining us in hour number three of this program. Tom Izzo, the head coach of Michigan State, a two seed in the southern region of the NCAA tournament that begins tonight with some play-in contests or actually, pardon me, first four contests.
That's coming up on an hour number three and there's you at 844-204-RICH being the number to dial. You know, growing up, man, whenever my parents would ever give our name at a restaurant at the local diner there in Staten Island, we'd have to spell our name out, you know, and we would just watch the name get totally butchered. I-S-O-N-I-S-E-N, you know, E-I-S-E-N. We'd have to say Eisenhower without the Howard, stuff like that. Joining us now is one of the top prospects in all of quarterbacking in the NFL, where I'm sure had the same experience growing up having to spell the name Shuck with two H's and an O-U-G in the middle.
Tyler Shuck joining us here on the Rich Eisenhower. I'm sure not many people introduce you in interviews that way, Tyler, you know, right? No, nobody ever gets right the first time, but like you said, growing up, kindergarten was rough trying to explain it to my peers.
Well, or it was ruck, right? If you spelled ruff, like that's the way it would be, right? So you'd have to say that, I'm sure, all the time in your life. You have to spell it out.
I always told myself I was going to change it to S-H-U-C-K, but it kind of, once you learn it, it just stuck and everybody rolls with it. There you go, man. All right, so hey man, I loved watching you work out at the Combine. I loved sitting up there in the booth of NFL Network on the 50 and watching you run your 40.
Why did you run a 40, Tyler? I wanted to go out there and have fun and compete, man. I think that's what we came there to do and I knew, obviously, I ran faster than what I was anticipating to run, but I knew I was going to go out there and have fun and compete regardless.
That was my whole mindset. This is the only time you get to do this. You know, it was just a blessing to be there, honestly, for me and my story and I knew kind of what I wanted to show was that anytime, anyplace.
Yeah, and we'll get to your story in a second. I just loved how you sort of gave the crowd sort of an are you not entertained, arms outstretched after you crossed the 40 finish. I loved that. That was fun, you know. My thing is everybody's kind of coming in there super tight, you know.
I'm like, man, this is, it's like dead silent here. Let's get everybody going. We're all trying to have fun. They're evaluating us. This is who I am.
This is my personality. Let's have some fun with it. And then no one else ran it, right? We had to wait for you to catch your breath, if I'm not mistaken. I had a tap dance on the air a little bit, Tyler. I was like juiced up. Mark was like, are you ready to go again? And I was like, no, man, I need another minute.
Let me get a breather. It was great. And then I wasn't supposed to necessarily run the second one because my people thought it was a good enough time. But since I was the only one, you know, I couldn't go back and look at my time. So I was just like, screw it. I'm running again. You did. And so that was awesome. And then you went out and you spun it. What was it like being out there with your colleagues, fellow draftees out there spinning it at a combine, Tyler? It was awesome. It was a lot of fun. For me, I love the changeups that we did with the routes. For me, I just, like I said, I wanted to go out there and have fun with it. Was kind of changing different platforms, different drops. You know, you got four, five, six reps on each throw and with different guys. And I just wanted to show timing, show my drops and the consistency with the offense that I played in last year.
And I had a lot of fun doing it and it was just a great opportunity. And then I noticed my colleague went up to you afterwards and that would be Kurt Warner to chit chat with you. Do you know Kurt from your Arizona connections, Tyler? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Briefly. So I grew up training near him. It was kind of more of a mutual connection.
I just wanted to say hello and ask for any tidbits. And he had some great things. What did he say? He was just, you know, mechanically wise, you know, whenever you're getting fatigued to drive your legs through it, not to be bendy at the waist. And it was a great point because like I wasn't really anticipating being that gassed after the 40 going right into the throwing, but it was a great time to go out there and finish.
I don't know how some of the other receivers were going to be able to do cone drills the way they were running, but he was just catching up. He said he was a big fan and he gave me his number and, you know, I've been reaching out to him here and there. You should because he is very generous when it comes to that sort of stuff. And he is one of the smartest guys I know, one of the nicest guys I know and is 100% when he said, you know, here's my number.
He does that for a ton of quarterbacks in the league. And I think it's pretty neat that he did that. And, you know, you should definitely take advantage of that, Tyler. I already have.
I've done it multiple times. He sent me a couple of videos and from him in his house just demonstrating the stuff we were talking about. And it was awesome. And obviously, I mean, that's what it's all about to me. And, you know, obviously I want to get into coaching and scouting whenever my days of playing are done, hopefully in a while.
And just the relationships that you build and how you connect with everybody and just seeing him doing that was something I definitely look up to. I don't know, Tyler, not a lot of Hall of Famers do that after their career. How'd that sound? Did that, that just rolled off my tongue right there, you know, because you never, you never know in all seriousness and, you know, that could be your future.
Nobody knows. That's the beauty of the NFL and that's the beauty of our sport and our league. Let's talk about your journey and the number of stops that you had in your college career and everything that you started with, you know, going from Arizona and then winding up where? Walk us through your journey to the moment, Tyler.
Yeah, no, I mean, it's, it's, it's interesting. And like I said, it wouldn't be, I wouldn't be who I am if I didn't go through that and the adversity and the shortcomings that I had and just every, every part of it. But I went to, went to Oregon out of high school, backed up Justin Herbert for two years and red shirt at that first year, had an unbelievable time there. Obviously you come in as a skinny little freshman and you think you're, you know, you think you're good and you get next to Justin Herbert who's 6'6", 240 and, and ripping the ball.
And I'm like, all right, I got to get bigger. I got to get better. And 2020 stayed after he left and competed and won the job that year. And it was COVID year. So we only played seven games and we won the practical championship, went to the festival and lost, but really looking back on that time when I was 20, 21 years old, just a young, immature kid who really wasn't playing that great and was playing with a fear of failure, trying to make my coaches happy, looking over my shoulder and then effectively getting benched by Anthony Brown, who ended up staying that last year. So, you know, no NIL at the time, I just wanted to go transfer and compete and play. And that was Texas Tech.
And they, they gave me an opportunity to go out there and play and loved it there. First, first year was playing really good ball. And I just dove in the end zone versus Texas. And I broke my collarbone, didn't get surgery on it.
Whole staff gets fired. And the first time I get hit again next year, I break the same collarbone. So it was effectively kind of one collarbone break. And once I got surgery on it, I was back in six weeks and we finished the year undefeated. And so I was super proud of that kind of resiliency and growth through that time. And say it another year, it was the first time I had two OCs in my career.
I've had five plus OCs and that 20, 23 year was playing good. And, you know, it was an up and down year. You know, I was, you know, I was playing good ball, but also times I could have been better. And there was times where I got booed. There was times I was the MVP. And so I'm like, man, I've, I've seen all spectrums and, you know, that fourth game I get hip dropped and I break my fibula and I'm like, man, like I should have played golf or something.
Dude, this is like, this is some rough luck. And, um, but I was just, it developed, it cultivated this itch and this, this grit that I had to, I knew like, it's easy to compare yourself to others. And I knew that I had what it takes to play at the next level. And I knew I was better than these guys coming out, but I knew that I had to go through my own circumstance, my own situation and learn from it and grow from it.
Cause when you're 22, 21, and you know, you don't know what you don't know. And, um, I was just so grateful to go through that. And obviously I just told this to coach Brom and they believed in me and, um, you know, knew it was just bone breaks and you'll be fine. And you know, I had a really good year there. And so, um, with COVID and also with red shirt and with three transfers, three different schools, seven years, uh, basically between now and when you left high school in Arizona, and then the bone breaks at your 25, how do you respond to those who ask you about your age and your injury history when you're being interviewed by these teams?
Yeah. I mean, I think it's an advantage. Um, like I said, I've kind of had a crash course of the NFL. Um, you got guys who are going to get cut, you know, injured in the NFL. They're going to get benched, you know, booed when you come in and, you know, I would have loved to have a three year illustrious career in college and everything go right.
But then I would have maybe had a different sense of entitlement or things were always going to go my way. And, um, I feel much more mentally and physically equipped to go out there and handle the task because I've gone through it. Um, if anything, I'm more athletic than I ever have been and in been better shape. Um, I just had the bone breaks and, you know, as a 25 year old, um, like I, like you see with Bo Nix and Pennix and Jayden Daniels and Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield guys are kind of really getting into their stride, um, after they've kind of gone through some stuff.
And then you got MVP, MVP level play by Tom Brady and Aaron Rogers well into their late 30s and Stafford playing his butt off. And, um, I think a lot of teams just kind of recognize that. And I feel like I'm the most pro ready guy in this draft class. Um, just with everything I've been through in my physical tools, um, and hopefully teams, um, are on the same page with that.
Bravo, Tyler Shuck. That's a heck of an answer. And I'm not just saying that, that you're giving me an answer. That was, uh, that was clearly, um, something born out of experience and born out of what you've brought to the table here for the combine. Who have you spoken to?
Give me some names of who you've spoken to. Yes, sir. Yeah. So I got, I've had 10, um, 10 draft visits scheduled right now. Um, early on it was, um, Steelers Colts. Um, we got Browns giants coming up. Um, who was the other one? Seahawks Raiders, Titans, and, uh, jets, um, was early on. So there's been a, there's been a game. There's a couple of them.
I can't remember. And then I got a couple more, um, workouts, private workouts have just been scheduled with a lot of those top teams and, um, just really grateful for the opportunity. I think that this whole, I feel like my superpower has kind of been the mental side of it, the mental processing, you know, winning pre-snap, but then also when you get me in the building, um, I feel like that's where I've excelled and, you know, I've had to compete everywhere I've been. I've been a captain everywhere I've been. And, um, I feel like I connect with a lot of the guys that I've been around just because I've, I've been exposed to everybody. Do you think you're a first rounder?
I think so. Like I said, I think I'm the most ready guy to come in and compete and start right away. But I also understand like, I, I backed up Herbert before I've been benched.
I've been hurt. So like, I understand the, the chemistry of that quarter quarterback room is so vital. So if I go to a team, um, you know, you go to the bills, I'm not going to start over Josh Allen, but how can I add value to him?
And how can I be the best guy and, um, and learn and grow and, and support him. So I have that, you know, ego check to where I'm going to do the best thing I can to support and, but I'm, I'm going to compete my butt off at the time and do everything I can to make the team better. I don't mean to put you in any position, but, um, is there a specific team where you really vibed? Like you're like, okay, I left that, uh, chat and, uh, they were into me. I'm into them. I, I kind of feel this right now.
Anything yet? Yeah. I mean, I couldn't pinpoint it. You know, I feel, I feel honestly, every time I get out of a visit or a zoom, um, I'm like, man, this is, this would be a great fit. And I feel like I'm gonna, I'm an adaptable guy. I'm gonna make it work out of any situation. And, uh, I'm just trying to, you know, let these coaches and GMs and, um, and scouts know, you know, what I'm about and, um, how I can kind of add value to them.
And, um, but yeah, I couldn't pinpoint it right now. It's still kind of early, but hopefully as time goes on, um, you know, I've definitely been getting a great vibe. Do you, um, have any plans for draft night yet?
Yeah, we'll be in a, we'll be back home in Arizona, um, with some, some close family and friends just hanging out there. What's that moment going to be like for you? Do you think it'll be a, it'll be a great culmination of a lot of things. I think this whole, this whole process has benefited me because, um, and, you know, there was a certain point where I didn't think it was necessarily in the cards. So that's why I'm, you know, getting the crowd going.
I'm not nervous throughout these meetings and throwing cause like, man, this, this wasn't supposed to happen. So if it doesn't work out, then great. It wasn't supposed to work out, but if it works out, then man, I'm going to play my butt off and I'm going to compete. And if I get drafted and wherever it is, I'm going to make the most of it and work my tail off. So it'll be a, um, just a great moment with everybody. Who's kind of been along for the journey. Did you ever think of giving up at any point in the seven years, Tyler?
No, no. I mean, I mean, I'm a human, you know, I'm laying there, I'm getting parted off with my leg hanging on by a thread. And I'm like, like I said, I should have played golf or I'm, I don't know if this is the right thing, but deep down, I'm like, man, I know if I, if I get an opportunity, I'm going to, I'm going to, I'm going to make the most of it. And I know I can, I can play with anybody. And like, it's just mentally hard in me. Um, but I knew if I get an opportunity and that's all I wanted, um, that I was going to do it. And I feel like my best ball is ahead of me.
And that's why my passion is just so high. And then let me, uh, ask you the question I ask so many other, um, quarterback prospects before they go to the pros. I've asked this of Jalen Hurts. I've asked this of, you know, the Holmes.
I've asked this of everybody. Uh, speaking of Texas tech quarterbacks, um, what do you, what does a team get if they draft Tyler Shuck? I think you're getting a high level person and competitor that's gonna, gonna bring your team to the next level. Like I said, whether you're coming in and you're, you're seeing me as adding value to the quarterback room, um, and, and supporting the starter. But I also feel like I'm the most priority guy, um, that's going to win you, that going to get you to the playoffs and get you where you want to be because I've been through it. You know, I'm not phased by what's going to happen on the field or off the field.
And, um, I have all the tools necessary to, to go make it happen. So, um, I never flinch and, um, I'm, I'm going to come out there and do whatever, do everything I can to, to get better. Tyler Shuck, what a pleasure. Thanks for taking the time here, man. Uh, like I said, I really enjoyed your energy at the combine. Um, it was fun to watch and it was just great to see, and I'm so glad that you are taking advantage of Kurt's, um, you know, um, generosity and cause he loves it and you should keep doing that, keep soaking it in.
And I'm, I'm looking forward to following your journey and then, uh, have you back on whenever you want. Thanks for the time. I appreciate it, Rich.
Thank you guys. You got it brother. That's Tyler Shuck. Um, one of the top quarterback draft prospects from Louisville by way of Texas tech and Oregon and Arizona right here on the Rich Eisen show. Loved it.
That was great. So many teams that do not potentially get Rogers. Why wouldn't they want to take a shot with him? Exactly. I mean, that's why the Steelers are, are, are taking a look at him. You mentioned some of the other teams.
Why not? You know what? And I I'll just say this, you know, certainly in this day and age, back when I, I love talking like, uh, I'm a gray beard, which I am in my day when everything started with the combine, if somebody transferred to three schools and stayed in college seven years is a problem. Oh yeah. Yeah. Back in there is a problem. Like why wouldn't, uh, uh, why wouldn't a program if he was so good, keep him, why wouldn't he stick around? And, you know, we are seeing more and more and more and more because of the COVID year.
And we're seeing more and more and more of transfer portal and NIL and things like that. Guys are going to different spots and you heard, you know, five offensive coordinators. Jalen Hurts is on another one, by the way, coming up, right? Didn't we, I, I spoke to Jalen Hurts prior to the Superbowl for game day morning. And I'm like, you know, you know, I'm like, you know, you, you, you keep changing offensive coordinators. And he said, tell me about it. Said the guy who's about to be the MVP of the Superbowl and win it. Right.
You know, tell me about it. And quarterbacks, Joe Burrows had come back player of the year after having gotten hurt twice. He transferred. So Chuck, when he says, you know, Hey, I've been benched, I've won, I've been carted off. I've rehabbed.
I've gotten sent around. I've had to do it over and over again with new voices in my ears, different terminology, different coordinators that does mimic the pros. And he started naming guys like Nix and Daniels and Pennix. He's not wrong. All those guys, transferred schools, all those guys, first rounders played with different coordinators and now having great success.
Right. And just because you didn't see Louisville action or Texas tech, you would have probably seen him more if we stayed at Oregon, but he got passed over for Anthony Brown. He's like, I'm out of here. You know, backed up Herbert.
That's how he started. So if you're the Steelers, you don't get Aaron Rodgers, do you draft Tyler Shuck 21st overall? You take that shot. If you're the Giants and you don't get Rodgers and you choose Travis Hunter third overall, or say Abdul Carter drops to you.
You trade back up, end of the first round. Or if Shuck is there on the top of Friday night. I know that's not what he wants to hear. Certainly if you were sitting with your friends and family all Thursday night waiting for the phone to ring, that's a long Thursday night, but you know.
No, but we saw the Ravens do it. You want that extra year of control. You want to pop back in short. You want to pop back in 28, 29, 30.
I know Mayock's very high on him. But this is again, part and parcel of the new way of looking at prospects. Sure. Do you want someone who's 22, 23? Yeah. You know, at the end of his first contract, you're looking at a second contract. He's going to be pushing 30, but you're getting somebody with a, I mean, 42 games, 32 starts, seven years, three different programs. And, and a sensibility that he, you don't get in a 22 or a 21 year old.
As he said, what are you here to have a different sense of entitlement? An interesting choice of words. It is. I kind of dig it. I like that. That was a fun conversation.

It's a great day for a new Hyundai. So you guys, so you guys don't have unique names. What do you mean you guys?
What do you mean by that? I'm not saying there's no one saying, Oh, Tom Brady won the Super Bowl. I'm gonna name my baby Tom. That's not how, Tom is too simple. Shaquille, Alsan.
These are unique names that people will name their kids. I promise you. Steve, am I right? Steve is not laughing.
He's not looking at you. Steve is a regular name. Steve is the name that folks can pronounce. Oh, see, now Steve got another name.
Wow. Steve, what's your other name? My real name, which is three people called me, my mom and my grandma, and my wife is actually Stevone. Now, S-T-E-V-O-N-N-E. Now, Stevone, Stevone, had you used, had you used that name, had you used that name, right?
No, you the legend, you the legend you are. Had you used that name, do you know what would have happened in any city you played in? Everybody who had a baby would have named their baby Stevone. You know what would have happened?
You know what's up? I don't care what city you played in. Carolina, Baltimore, whatever city you played in, that city would have had babies with that name.
Santa Monica. Every time he's going touchdowns, they're gonna be like, I'm naming my baby Stevone. Right? You know him, right? Well, Steve, Stevone, thanks for coming on, Stevone.
Thanks for coming on, Stevone. Even mentioning that name right now, a few light bulbs went off. This baby due tomorrow is perfect.
This baby due tomorrow is perfect. Y'all some dirt, man. I can't believe we survived that interview.
I get a cold sweat every time I watch it back. Looking Steve Smith in the face and calling him the name that he didn't want to be called. What was I thinking?
Well, he likes me, so... What a moron. Back on The Rich Eyes and Show radio network, sitting at The Rich Eyes and Show desk, furnished by Grainger with supplies and solutions for every industry. Grainger has the right product for you.
Call clickrainger.com or just stop by. Mock draft. I got a mock draft. You have a mock draft? No, I'm in possession of one. Oh, okay.
I was like, wow. It's a little early for your come at me bro. Come at me mock draft. I do that the Wednesday before the draft, where I predict the top 10. And I've been doing pretty well in that lately, but that's for down the road. That's for a month from now.
Mel Kuiper's come out with his 3.0. Who came up with the 0.0 stuff? Don't care. Love it.
Do you do love it? It's genius. Like we're downloading a new iOS on our phone. Is that what it is? Yeah. Microsoft or whatever, you know, app windows.
No, no, no. Does he put this out in Helvetica? Nice. I just want an old font. I used to print out papers in Helvetica. That was my font of choice on my Mac computer back in the day.
I'm aged. This is like the third conversation we've had about different fonts. I love it.
You like fonts, right? Mel Kuiper 3.0 after we've just said goodbye to Tyler Shuck. This is Veranda. He's got Cam Ward going one Abdul Carter, two, and then the giants having a choice.
What do they do? Travis Hunter or Shador Sanders or anybody else? And they go Shador. He said that they do not pass up Shador Sanders. He seems made for New York.
I think it would be great. There are some people who don't have a first round grade on him. I've seen that too. And Mel Kuiper says he's third overall. And that also dovetails with his colleague from ESPN, Lewis Riddick, who came on last Friday and says Shador Sanders is a face of a franchise. You'd be so happy.
Oh my God. Cooper, I would get, I might get a FaceTime on live NFL network draft television from my 14 year old. If I'll be the, if Travis Hunter, happiest man in Green Bay, you and him will be connected.
I will FaceTime Cooper on draft night. Travis Hunter being a Patriot is exactly what you, you're, you're looking for. You need to have that person with a pop and a buzz and a following, just show up in New England and say, we're going to transform everything and let just Drake may be in the background.
You know what I mean? We'd have the best corners in the NFL if this happens. I wouldn't like that to be honest with you. It would be huge. I wouldn't cheer for Travis.
You'd be so happy if that happens. Jacksonville makes Mason Graham round out the top five. Who's a beast. The Raiders do not let Ashton Gentie pass by. And I do love the pick. Tyler Warren is one of my favorite offensive players of college football last year. He was just a beast. Penn State looked at him every single time they needed a single yard. Well, especially after last year, you passed on Brock Bowers. I'm aware of that.
Sorry. Jalen Walker of Georgia would go to Carolina and Jackson Dart is an interesting choice here to the Saints. Mel Kiper says three quarterbacks in the top 10, as Gentie would be off the board, disappointing Bears fans greatly. And Mikel Williams, the linebacker out of Georgia, would be another terrific addition to that defense in Chicago.
And that's the top 10. Jackson Dart going to New Orleans would be quite something. What about all the Rattler talk that supposedly... I'm telling you, I heard a lot at the Combine that they really like Rattler. And you saw a lot out of him and they think he's got it. I mean, that's an interesting choice. Jackson Dart being a top 10 pick. What did Cam Ward say recently? He wouldn't mind going to the Saints or he had a dream or something that he's a New Orleanian after this or whatever. I just don't see it.
They'd have to go up, obviously. The next 10, Armand Membu, who we saw light it up at the Combine on the offensive line. Interesting choice that the Niners would have a choice between him and Will Campbell.
And they choose Membu. Campbell would be a dolphin at 13. TJ, you would be very happy, I imagine, with O'Marion Hampton being the 12th overall pick and the Cowboys getting a dynamic player on offense.
Certainly to Gente off the board, right? Yeah, I didn't like seeing Gente's name up that high, but I did go O'Marion. And the Colts going Colston Loveland would be an interesting choice. The tight end out of Michigan going there. Mike Green out of Marshall would go to the Falcons. Will Johnson adding a corner to Jonathan Gannon's defense. Shamar Stewart, certainly if... You got to think the Bengals are going defense on draft. Pretty much almost every darn pick. Every pick.
Okay. Literally. Nick Emanwari, a safety for Seattle. Emanwari was... He looked like a power forward.
Right? He was a power forward. And like I said, after Stacey said what she said about him, Stacey Dales, I just kept watching him that whole weekend like, this dude is just a freak of nature. Jahad Campbell out of Alabama going to Tampa.
And then, Eman, Ted McMillan going to Denver 20th overall to stick him out there with Sutton and the rest of those young receivers that are beginning to start coming to the floor for Bo Nix. Ted McMillan ran what at the Arizona? It wasn't a pro day.
It was his own personal kind of pro day. And the times were varied. Originally, someone had him clocked at 4-4-8. A lot of the hand times were in the 4-5-4. 4-4-5.
But they're all stupid times for some man his size. 6-4-2-20 running like a 4-5-5 is insane. Ted McMillan going to Denver.
It's scary. I know that's one of the things we popped out there from our overreaction Monday pod is you think Denver is gonna... Your supposition and we'll get to an overreaction Monday and Tuesday. Just a take? Just a take. Denver's gonna win the West.
I'm out there first. And I just couldn't... TJ for your edification. I just could not... Co-sign that? Well, I'm not taking any cheese that deposes the Chiefs until I see it.
Of course not. You shouldn't. Because I still have PTSD from saying, oh, the Raiders are gonna win the West. Because I bought McDaniel's going with Derek Carr and Devante Adams and that was just an absolute disaster.
Yeah, it's gonna take a while for that to stick to the world. But I tell you what, Brockman, I don't know if they're winning the West, but I think I told you around week 13-14 last year. Bo Nix, man. I like this kid. He's a gamer. He's gutsy. He's got moxie.
He's got all those fun words that we use for, you know, exciting whites. It's cool. Broncos fans should be psyched. Absolutely. Especially if you get this receiver.
Dude. Finishing up the top, the first round draft of Mel, Derek Harmon, a tackle out of Oregon going to Pittsburgh. Sounds like a very Pittsburgh thing. And I just know if Tyler Shuck's on the board and they don't have another quarterback at that point in time, you're just gonna hear Steelers fans just go, just do it. Do it.
Do it. You know, Matthew Golden going to the Chargers would be a very nice choice. A very nice choice for that offense. Yeah.
Yeah, because Herbie needs some. I'm kind of hoping the Pats move back up to take one of these. Either a Buca or a Golden. A Buca out of the Ohio State joining the Packers. What do they need another young receiver for? They've got like 12 receivers, man.
Save some for the rest of us. Half of them don't answer the bell to be very honest with you. I know, but when was the last time like Christian Watson and Romeo Dobbs played three straight games together?
Good point. You know, no pushback, but Jaudae Brown would be a corner out of Texas going to Minnesota. Josh Simmons out of the Ohio State to the Texans. Azaria Thomas, a corner to the Chargers.
That's a perfect pronunciation. How about Malachi Starks? The safety going to the Ravens. That's a run of defense there that James Pierce out of Tennessee, by the way, he was terrific at the combine. Like the Lions, that strikes me as an excellent choice.
And he's kind of fallen. Coming into the year, he was one of those guys who everyone had penciled in as a top five pick. And then you've got a more run of defensive players. Maxwell Hairston out of Kentucky to the commanders. Kenneth Grant to Michigan. Hey, Hoskins, my Buffalo Bill friend in the back. You put him right there in the middle.
You will love that. Grant lasting to the 30th overall pick would be a stunner to me. And the next pick lasting this long. Well, Kelvin Banks would be a perfect godsend for the Chiefs to get him at 31st overall.
And then, you know, Walter Nolan, that's just, I love it. Just, just throw whoever you can on the defensive line for the egos. Well, obviously they, they, they, they lost someone of note to your happy to have them welcome to your Patriots or that 32nd overall pick just to wrap this up here.
Who would call Howie Roseman at the end of the night and say, Howie, you know, let's make a deal, which is, you know, ballsy enough just to even engage Howie on this front and in a catbird seat position. Although, you know, he they've already amassed a ton of picks. I think I, you see that Schefter posts yesterday about the number of compensatory picks they're going to get compared to the number of picks they already have. Listen, somebody's going to maybe want to make Tyler Shuck a first round pick and get a 50 year of contractual control or Will Campbell.
I mean, Oh, Will Howard. Pardon me. Yep. Agree. Do the Eagles do that?
And do they do it for their fellow Pennsylvania mates? Hmm. I don't know if that matters. Just hit the price.
You hit the price, the price is right. It doesn't matter. Maybe. You know, but he does not have Tyler Shuck, who we just were very impressed with being a first round pick. We shall see. Michigan guys in there, man. Oh, listen, you know, I mean, we had a heck of a run the last few years. You were just like... No, I mean, we had a heck of a run the last few years and, you know, that was the conversation going into last year off of their national championship is that the defense could technically be better because they have a ton of first rounders on the defense still. And, you know, there's a bunch that we just mentioned in their names, but not bad for a football school to then go ahead and win the big 10 championship in the tournament to be a way under seeder seated screwed fifth seed.
Thank you for the opportunity to pound a table here. You know, and I'm still waiting. I'm still waiting for the lawsuit from the Attorney General of Michigan.
Yeah, I thought that was coming. Morrissey, what happened? What's she up to? She's sleeping on that opportunity.
Maybe she rethought her position. Come on, Governor Whitmer, where are you? That fifth seed is an abomination. You know what it is?
It was the National Corruption Athletic Association screwing Michigan over because that's what it likes to do. Is that good enough? All right, we'll take a break.

ABC Sundays, American Idol is all new. Give it your all. Good luck. Come out with a golden ticket. Let's hear it. This is a man's world.
I've never seen anything like it. And a new chapter begins. Carrie Underwood joins Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan and Ryan Seacrest on American Idol.
New Sundays, 8, 7 Central on ABC and stream on Hulu. All right. See now somebody leaves your voicemail and it doesn't pop up. Certainly if you're in until later, right? Certainly if you're in a room or an area with no cell reception, sometimes your phone, it takes like a day for it to pop up, right?
A lot of your texts sometimes don't come through. That's why I don't. No, that is garbage. Yeah, right.
That is hot garbage. That's what I would say. Because I'd be in tunnels. No, no, no. I just know you're most likely sitting on your couch looking at your phone and you're just like, yeah, I have no interest in responding to this and being part of the text community. That's what you think of me. That's what you think of us. I think that's true. Will you back me up on this? I believe that's 100% the case.
How dare you? Especially on the weekend. Oh, exactly. What else are you doing? Yeah. So then you should understand then. Which is what? But this wasn't about me.
What was your original problem? So I'm in Xander's production of Rent on Sunday. You're in it? No, I'm sitting in the auditorium.
I'm taking it in. I thought you were the background actor. And it's terrible cell reception in his school's auditorium. And by the way, probably for good reason. But my phone is buzzing because I am connected to the internet nonstop. It's as Michigan is finishing off its win over Wisconsin, which I had no idea what was happening and I had to wait until intermission because anytime I even looked to see is it good or not, I would get the elbow from Susan.
Because the light's all bright in the dark. It's bad news. But at any rate, Mooch, Steve Mariucci left me a voicemail watching the end of the Michigan Wisconsin game. And I just got it. Now. Here. Today. Oh, just now.
Wait, what? Whoa. Today. From Sunday. Huh? From Sunday.
From Sunday. Wow. Okay. Okay. And... That's wild. When Michigan played Michigan State twice in the regular season, he called me up and he goes, do you want to make a friendly wager? I'm like, absolutely. Let's do it. You know, the Apple pan, the local old school, you know, classic hamburger spot here.
Steam your burgers. Right. And it just is up the road from where NFL Network used to be. So that used to be a Mooch hangout. Mooch only wagers Apple pan. It's not monetary.
It's buying Apple pan burgers and fries and shakes and all that stuff. Okay. So he goes, how about he wanted to bet Cooper? And I'm like, oh, word. So I call Cooper into the room and I'm like, you want to do this? I'm like, don't worry, I'll cover you. You know?
Yeah, of course. He's 14. Just turned 14 at the time of the first game between the two. And sure enough, we lost.
And then we got blown out for the double or nothing. And that's my setup for I just texted Mooch. You mind if we play it on the air for Izzo, his best man, you know, because he's making hamburger bets with my son based on Tom Izzo's results. Like what better person to play this voicemail of him watching Michigan beat Wisconsin and his reaction to it. Mooch hasn't responded yet, but I think I'm just going to do it anyway. Can you just call him? No, actually just responded.
No problem. He was just on with McAfee yesterday. I'm like, yes, Steve, thanks for watching the Rich Eisen Show. Well, that was yesterday. We don't consider Pat.
We consider Pat friendly. Yeah. At any rate.
Especially when you call on his show. No, I know. I know. I saw Izzo on other shows yesterday. That's fine. So, but they don't have Mooch voicemails talking about hamburgers.
The greatest. That's coming up next hour. 844-204-RICH is the number to dial on the Rich Eisen Show to have a chat with us. The Hyundai getaway sales event. Get deals so right it almost feels wrong because it's going on right now and it's the best time to get that Hyundai car or SUV you've always wanted. Every new Hyundai, by the way, comes with America's best warranty and three years or 36,000 miles of limited complimentary maintenance. Don't think you can get away with all that.
Think again, but do not wait. The Hyundai getaway sales event is going on right now. So visit your local Hyundai dealer today. It's a great day for a new Hyundai. Bless you. Excuse me.
I'm allergic to overreaction Monday on a Tuesday. That's one way for me to not talk over it is to hack up a lung. Good to see you over there, Chris Brockman. Hey, and this is actually genuine.
You're right. Thanks for asking. What do you got?
No problem. Hey, everybody. Everybody good. Hey, what's up Brock? Hey TJ. How are you, man? Enough. Enough.
Great to see you. I've only been to Apple pan once and I saw Patrick Schwarzenegger there a long time ago. Guys, we just talked to Tyler shock, a quarterback in this year's draft. He's going in the first round. So are three others.
Four quarterbacks are going in the first round next month. I don't think it's an overreaction. Thank you. I don't. You think for going, I don't think for definitely going, but I don't think you could sit here and say that's crazy. That it's crazy. You said that to me coming out of the combine.
I would have said, let's move on. Hmm. But Jackson dart and Chidor and cam are going, and maybe shock is going to do it. Or somebody falls in love with will Howard and makes them a first rounder.
Cause that fifth year of contractual control and somebody will have the temerity to call Howie Roseman and say, let's make a deal. But you know, I need to run it through about 15 people. Don't screw me. Don't worry. There'll be a, there'll be an SCC defensive lineman for you to choose tomorrow night.
So yeah, I don't think that's an overreaction at present. What else? Big arm, man, that kid was cool. I really enjoyed meeting him. And if anybody is just a watch, you know, tuning in now or watching this later on our YouTube channel, check out that interview. It was great to chat with him. We just detached from the zoom about 30 minutes ago with him. What else, Chris?
All right. Last week, one of the big wide receivers in the market, Cooper cup decided to go to Seattle back to back to where he's from. And the more and more I think about this, I think it's great. I think it's brilliant by Seattle. I think it's awesome for Sam Darnold. And I think Cooper cup is going to have a better year next year than DK Metcalf.
I can't say no to this right now. I know who's throwing a Cooper cup and it's a guy who connected with Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison to the tune of 14 wins last year in Minnesota. And I understand Minnesota's offense isn't as good as Seattle's was last year, and they have a new offensive coordinator up there and Clint Kubiak. But right now, DK Metcalf does not have somebody to throw into him right now, other than Mason Rudolph.
And I will take Cooper cup situation over the Steelers one right now. And in that respect, you could say, well, you're doing it right now, then it's an overreaction, but I think that this is going to be the case. Wow.
I'll say that this is not an overreaction either. Who's throwing a DK Metcalf? You want to tell me? Unclear. Okay.
It's going to be Aaron Rogers. Do you really think at the end of the day? No, I don't know. I'm just saying. Okay.
Thank you. I can't push back on that either. Is that an overreaction Monday subject matter?
Rogers is just going to go to the Steelers after all this anyway? Are you ready for the next one? Oh, wow. Sure. Yeah, I am. One of Mike Tomlin's best quotes and one that we love the most is, is the, we want volunteers, not hostages.
Yes. But what's funny about that quote now is that Aaron Rogers is holding the Steelers hostage. The Steelers are the hostage, and they're volunteering to hire him. The Steelers should move on from the idea of Aaron Rogers. You want nothing to do with this guy?
Save your time. Kim Hayward is right. The pitch is we're the Steelers. Do you want to play here or not?
If I am the Steelers, I, I do give him, I give him till, hold on a minute. Does Cal play? Cal's not in the NCAA tournament, right? I don't, I don't think so. So tip off of the first game of March Madness is what?
Thursday, 9 15 a.m. Pacific time. That's it. That's it. That's it.
So they have two day 48 hours. I was just trying to say if Cal's in it, then you know, Cal would be the team that you peg just for his old college try. No Cal.
Okay. Then coach Cal. When does he start? Coach Cal. So they're, they're also a Thursday game.
They play Kansas. What? Okay.
What time? Do we have that time? Whatever, whatever that is, whatever that is, I would give until Thursday is what I'm saying. Yeah. You're not wrong. You're not wrong. That's right. Exactly.
How about Judge Smales making an appearance? Not an overreaction either. They shouldn't move on from him right now. I mean, let the guy go through his, and by the way, Cam Hayward saying that I totally understand his frustration.
I totally understand him putting it out there. Rogers goes on the team. The two of them I'm sure will just chit chat. And I think they will connect.
And I think Rogers winning will make Cam Hayward very happy. You know, all of this stuff, everyone will just forget about it. We're just living in that now right now. And right now I'll say that's an overreaction, but they should put it, they should put a deadline. Well, yeah. Like right now, the frustration has a born on date and they're moving on should actually have an expiration date.
Their interest should have an expiration date. What else? Did you guys fill out a bracket yet? Have you done a bracket yet? Not yet. I'm doing it with my kids tonight.
I did one yesterday. At least one number one seed in the men's side is going down this weekend. This weekend? This weekend? Somebody is not making it to the Sweet Sixteen.
A one is not making it. Could you imagine UConn bounces Florida? I can. Gonzaga or Georgia bounces Houston.
Mississippi balances Duke or Louisville or Creighton bounces Auburn. I'll buy this. Thank you.
I'll buy it. No, that's another one. Okay. You say no. You say no. You say no. No, no, no. Crazy.
We're chalking into the Sweet Sixteen with the one seeds. Okay. I think so. Yeah. What about two?
Does the two go down? No, that's a different story. Okay.
I feel you TJ Jeffers. Thank you. I don't know. What time does St. John's play its game, Chris?
Definitely at night. What else? Rich, last one here. I'm watching some hoops, right? And I know the Nuggets beat Golden State, you know, without joking a bunch of guys.
Nothing about them really kind of does it for me. And both the Nuggets and the Lakers won't get out of the first round. Oh, that's so stupid. Just move on, Chris.
It was a combination you tell him to move on and him like his lean back into that. Yeah. So, I mean, please, both the Nuggets and the Lakers are going to get one and done. Okay. That's absurd. Everything's going too good. The vibes are too high.
That never, never stays the case. I understand that. The high comes to an end. Or you're looking at the eventual, it would be potentially Western Conference semifinal potential, right? I don't know who knows what the, that seating is just going to, that one's going to go down to the wire. It just depends on which star will sit out back to backs enough to cost them the seatings.
So right now they're sorry. Right now they're three four. So you're telling me Golden State can't beat Denver. They literally just played each other. It was a close game. Lakers Grizz, come on now.
I'm just saying your Laker hate makes that an overreaction. All right. Do you think we need one more? Oh my goodness. All right. We'll get one more. All right.
What else? Again, if a game is played in another country in the middle of the night where it's fan base can't watch, does it really count? So what's your problem with the Dodgers and the Cubs starting at 6 AM Eastern time on Wednesday morning, Christopher? The Dodgers are going to 162 and 0. Don't be so dumb.
Don't be so dumb. Well, they're, they're, they're a super, they're, all I've heard for like four months is that they're a super team and they've got 48 starting pitchers and all these guys hit home runs and bombs and like, well, they're not going to lose. That's all I've heard. I got to ask the, the Dodger fan who's sitting in the seat of the Dodger fan, the Rich Eisen show audio executive wing of Dodger fans over there. Jay Feli, who's an actual Dodger fan and Mike Del Tufo, who's a flat out turncoat. Who was here yesterday afternoon and got a hug from O'Shea who welcomed him in. O'Shea loves that. But you know who's also a total Fugazi Dodger fan?
O'Shea Jackson. Let's call it the way it is. Okay.
All right. He is a Fugazi Los Angeles Dodger fan. He comes on here with his epaulettes and his Dodger hat. Next time, next time he cat and crunches it up in our seat, like, Hey, who is the fourth starter for the Dodgers? Who is the second base? Let's ask the second baseman.
Give me some right field. He doesn't care about any of that. That's what I'm saying.
Cause this LA till he dies is what he's going to tell you. That hat you probably literally got last year. What was it? Game two than that ice cube before? We are the home of the front running Dodger fan here. Okay. So I ask you, are you and O'Shea and Del Tufo going to be each other's like a backup buddy to wake, to set the alarm and say, Hey, are you up at three in the morning?
We got a first pitch to watch in the middle of the night here. Here you called up. This is what you need to do. Call Del Tufo and record. Please do this. Please do this.
I'm begging you to do this. Call Mike Del Tufo on a FaceTime at three in the morning, record it. And he wakes up and just go, it's time for Dodger baseball.
Please do this for us. Is Mike got his phone on next to him and he'll answer because he's that guy who will like thinking around the four Oh five and I'll try and run out and get you and all that stuff. It's time for Dodger baseball.
Hey Mike, do you want to come over and have a Dodger dog at three 30 in the morning and crap it out by five AM for Jay-Z fans everywhere, except for you. And you should hold the line. That's what I'm saying.
Don't accept them. Oh my God. Please do that for us. You got it. Tom is joining us next baby.
