Got him! 22 seasons, 40 years of age. LeBron James, 50,002 points. Live from the Rich Eisen Show studio in Los Angeles.

It's a hell of a lot of points, and I'm super blessed to be able to put that many points up. Earlier on the show, NFL Network analyst, Daniel Jeremiah, Basketball Hall of Famer, George Raveling. Coming up, Broncos cornerback, Patrick Sertan II.

And now, it's Rich Eisen. Hour three of the Rich Eisen Show is on the air, and I got to be honest with you, I don't recall the week before the week in which the tampering window, don't call it tampering window opens up, was just so chock full of news in the NFL. It's like this is free agency week. It kind of has that feel. You know what I'm saying?

It kind of has that feel where something's breaking every two seconds. In the last part of last hour, DK Metcalf has requested a trade, and Seattle's obliging. They also released Tyler Lockett. So, they're remaking their wide receiving core. Yesterday, Devontae Adams basically got his freedom from the Jets. He's going to be out there as a free agent. And then, we're seeing contracts being signed. Joe Tooney getting traded today by the Kansas City Chiefs. Daniel Jeremiah and hour number one pointing out, listen, they've got their center right guard, right tackle handled. They'd rather just take Tooney, who's over 30, and replace him with a guy who was one year younger and say Ronnie Stanley at left tackle and go shopping in the draft for a left guard, rather than re-sign Tooney at age 32 and off you go to Chicago for a fourth round draft choice in a future draft. And then, moments ago, my guys from NFL Network reporting Ian and Tom together that Max Crosby is now the new highest paid non-quarterback in the National Football League.

Three years, 106.5 million extension, that's 91.5 guaranteed. And that's a Schefter tweet up there as well. So yes, indeed.

That's the later. Max Crosby is the number one paid non QB in the NFL. And you want to talk about a self-made guy. Our Monday guest, Mike Mayox, the one who drafted him out of Eastern Michigan. And this guy had trouble staying sober.

You see his story where he had trouble staying sober. And then, one day, thank goodness for him, the light went on. And now he's the highest paid non-quarterback in the history of the NFL.

Amazing. And he's got a coach who knows what to do with him because Pete loves his pass rush. He loves his defensive line. He loves guys like Max Crosby. Max is going to be the guy. He is the face forward guy for the Raiders. Right now, there's Brady and there's him and there's Pete. Because right now there's no quarterback. And so, congrats to Max.

Just one day hitting rock bottom. And I believe it was his wife or his girlfriend at the time, basically helped him through it. And he's a Walter Payton Man of the Year candidate and now the best in the business and being richly rewarded for it. How about all of that? Yeah, really cool.

Congrats to him. And by the way, him and Christian Wilkins on the same line again. They get some other guys healthy. And that's the idea. I mean, the Eagles gave the blueprint. You want to try and stop Mahomes in your division, find four guys to put their hands in the dirt and don't have to blitz.

Cover on the back end and win a game. Michael in Missouri, you're here on the Rich Eisenshaw. Let's take your phone call. What's up, Michael? Yes, I just wanted to get the opinion of the 2025 Influencer of the Year. Thank you.

Thank you, Michael. No, I mean, no one wants to see their star player in their rival division team, but it just makes a lot of sense to me and I think it would be perfect. What do you guys think about the idea of the Bengals trading Jamar Chase for Myles Garrett and just letting the Browns use their pick wisely to get Sanders or Ward to throw the ball and the Bengals maybe picking up a pick with Matthew Golden or Jalen Lane or that big boy from Arkansas, Isaac, and just doing something that could really benefit both teams.

And I don't think the Browns want to get rid of them, but when you got Jamar Chase on the line, I mean, I take that phone call. Could you imagine if something like that happens? That's like a fantasy football trade. If Myles Garrett was a fantasy football player as opposed to a member of a team that you would have as your defense and special teams.

Thanks for the call, Michael. Could you imagine if something like that happened? I mean, here's the thing. Cleveland, if they ever do come to light on this subject matter, will trade Myles Garrett as far away from the state of Ohio as they possibly can. Conference-wise, for sure. But distance-wise, heck yeah.

Two farthest spots from Rand McNally on the mat. Well, it's like Miami and here, Seattle. Is there an NFC team in Australia?

Good night, my love. You know what I mean? The Melbourne Kangaroos. That's what the sense would be.

The Sydney Dingoes. Certainly not within the state, within their division. And listen, Bengals just got assigned Jamar Chase. They should have done it a long time ago. They needed to do it early. For whatever reason, they didn't. And then for Myles Garrett, the conversation is as we heard yesterday from Andrew Whitworth.

If the Browns are digging in, then you're going to have to dig in and not show up for work. Diana Russini has been all over this story. She's been on this program.

She was on what the football with Suzy and Amy, which is available where all podcasts can be acquired right now and certainly seen on our YouTube channel. This is what she had to say on the subject matter. What's the scenario that you see with Myles Garrett? Well, just going back to the day that he put out to all of us that he wants a trade. It's always funny when you get a text from people that never text you, you're like, oh, they must want something.

Oh, they want us to tell everyone they want a trade. As soon as that broke at the Super Bowl, as a reporter, you start digging on all sides, talking to as many people involved as you can to just take the temperature. Is this just an emotional reaction?

Is this somebody that just wants a fully guaranteed contract like he saw his quarterback get? What is really truly at play? The first conversation I had with someone involved was like, this is going to get messy. I'm just saying it right now. This is going to get messy.

I define messy as just two sides that really want different things. That's where we're at at this moment. The Browns are very vocal and very public about they are not moving him.

Teams from the AFC, teams from the NFC, it does not matter. Teams from the XFL have called. Everyone has called the Browns and they are being told essentially the same thing, which is we're not moving him for now. I do think the for now part is interesting. I don't want to overstate what that could be, but I think Andrew Berry is smart enough to know if Myles Garrett is going to stand this tall in this demand and after meeting with ownership because he sat down with Jimmy Haslam and talked it out and said, I don't agree with the plan. I don't agree with the future of this Cleveland Browns team. They're all on the same page in terms of, yeah, he doesn't want to be here. This isn't going to work. It's just they don't want to let him go.

Not a player of this caliber. There's going to be movement. Let's say at some point here, they say, all right, we're not going to deal with all the drama of this. I can tell you people around the league are are assuming if this does start to move, it's going to move right before the draft.

That's where we're going to see it. And the reason why I imagine is because the Browns are going to want to cash in those draft chips, knowing where the draft choice is going to be, at least for the first year of the multiple firsts I'm sure they'll get. Because if you do it after the draft and you do it to a team like, say the commanders, you're just assuming that first round draft choice is going to be in the high 20s, low 30s.

You know what I mean? As opposed to you send them to an NFC team that's towards the top of the draft right now, you know, you could cash in a chip right now. You know, and I wonder what that plan is.

The plan is what? Stick with a young quarterback now, not, not draft one. Wait for Deshaun to come back. Like what, what, what?

Second torn Achilles? I don't know. Wouldn't that make you say I want out of here? What about we're going to draft a rookie?

Would that make you want out? Cause you know, at least this year it's going to be a year or two process to build even Jayden Daniels, CJ Stroud and Jayden Daniels, the greatest rookie quarterbacks we've seen in, in quite some time. One win as far as the divisional round, another one as far as the NFC championship game. Yeah, but we didn't think those guys were possible or capable of that. What I'm just saying is that if you're hearing rookie quarterback, that's currently the ceiling is still not a trophy, right? But it is, it is, you know, Hey, one's on the horizon or coming.

He just doesn't believe it. And in terms of getting messy, the question I have is that if the Browns get to a point where we just don't want to deal with the drama, the drama is not just going to be, you know, the Rich Eisen show talking about it or first take talking about it or McAfee talking about it. Dan, Colin, the drama is going to have to come from miles Garrett doing what Andrew Whitworth said you're going to have to do, which is I'm not showing up. And you know, clearly he's got a really smart team around him because dropping I've asked for a trade at the outset of a Superbowl week and then going to the Superbowl week to talk about Oikos, you know, and then showing up on ESPN's Sunday morning Superbowl show. That's what we call a strategy.

And so they know, imagine how to make a ruckus if necessary. And the question is, is when, and I don't know about if it's before the draft next year's draft is deep. You want to have multiple draft choices to trade up and get a rookie quarterback that you think might be better than Cam Ward or Chador Sanders or Jackson Dart. Then you do that next year and you try and build, and you've got a two time coach of the year in Stefanski who's smart enough to scheme away or, you know, maybe a division championship, if you're so lucky and everybody else rallies around, you get some other draft choices and off you go. And then you've got a sense of how Deshaun is doing or the draft capital to go trade up. Certainly if you trade picks right now and you snag Abdul Carter second overall anyway, right? To replace Myles Garrett.

I mean, there's, that's why, you know, Whitworth is like, just read the room. There's nobody else on your roster who's going to net as many draft choices as Myles Garrett can to replace and supplement what you lost in one of the worst trades ever for your now out for the year, again, quarter back. The question is, is though, is, is when does Myles Garrett create that ruckus? Because the Browns are just sitting back. Again, I heard at the combine, they're, they're making word on, on them saying we're not trading them. Don't come knocking.

Don't come knocking. And then there's the case of the Dallas Cowboys. Last we heard, they're going to be selectively aggressive in free agency. This is what we heard at the top of combine week from Steven Jones. And we had our fun, you know, creating selectively aggressive laminates for a tour and merge and things like that. That's a Royal, we didn't have fun. And then I heard at the combine that the, that the other than Odigazoo and maybe one other they're, they're, they're all out on their free agents.

They're gonna, they're gonna churn them over. And that made sense with the selectively aggressive part. But we had yet to hear from Jerry who at the Zach Martin retirement press conference today did speak with reporters.

It was. And Jerry had this to say, quote, I don't think aggressive is the right word about being more aggressive in free agency. I'm not looking at free agency as a place to fill voids. Oh gosh.

All right. So they did just restructure DAX contract along with CD lambs. And that means they, they got to spend the money somewhere.

And Odigazoo has won. Obviously Parsons has got to get paid. He's not a free agent, but you got to take care of him. This takes a nice chunk out of the pie.

So I'm more pie now. I think he's not looking to fill voids with free agency. I don't know. I guess they just want to keep drafting guys. They are pretty darn good at it. They've been pretty good. They've been hit for sure.

Like I've said top half of the week, for sure. Just the issue is, is, you know, where, where's the weaponry for DAC. You're going to pay him this money.

You're going to pay CD this money. Where's the weaponry? Where are we going to get, you know, a running game where it's more than just half a season of, of top-notch doubt. You know, where, where, where are we getting that second receiver from? Where, where, what are we doing? But so one Jones says we're selectively aggressive.

It's it's it's good Jones, bad Jones. Is that what's happening right now in Dallas? What are we going to do if they're not selectively aggressive and free agency?

What are we going to do with these laminates? You know what we do? We send them with all those, uh, those bills championship gear from, from the nineties, right? Yeah.

Wherever those exist. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Good one. We can, we can give those people, Hey, you get a free selectively aggressive laminate. 19 and 0 Patriot shirts. Those 19 0, wherever those are, I guess.

Well, the thing is those products don't technically actually exist for real. So why not trade for DK then trade him for him? Does that, does that sound like that makes sense to you? I don't know.

I mean, it's CD lamb is your guy. I mean, I don't know. I mean, just yes or no. Does it seem like it makes sense? Yes, it does make sense. Okay.

Then that's why we're not going to do it. You understand what I'm saying? Hey, trade for DK. Okay.

You draft Gente. Put that away. Let's go put that away.

Put that away for those on the radio. You have to describe what, what you mean by it. It's the release of fandom certificate that Jay Felley created and the, the multi-hyphenate audio executive of the rich Eisen show. Also graduate of mold school is also a, a legally authorized, um, mold school. Burn that out.

Notary is a notary. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

I got extra stickers right here. I mean, what don't you do? Now? Why don't you drive the car? You drive, you go. Yeah. Yeah. That's a good time to come to the Raiders, man. Stop. Very welcoming.

Fan-based do it. I did put this certificate away. No, listen, I, I, obviously the Cowboys are always fascinating to me. They're restructuring for a reason. They, they have to re slice the pie. Mike is going to get it.

You know, they got to, it was a very nice friendly deal for the team for Odigazoo. And even at that people start, I was reading comments of people complaining about what about, it was too much for him. And it's like the free agent market potentially and gotten 25, 30 million per and he signed what for 20 per on average. We're talking to hellscape discount. Exactly.

You know, that's what it looks like to me. I saw as a fan, I saw at least you're trying, which I didn't get that at all last identifying the people that you need to keep and keeping them, but doing it, you know, in a fashion where it's helpful to the team, not like let's wait until the last second, let's overpay. And then let's redo the contract later on down the line. What are we doing? Well, what you're doing is you're building a team and hopefully it's going to be a winning one because it's always better when the Cowboys win, man. Yeah.

But like always better, it's better for, it's better for business. I don't know. I'm not one of those guys. It's just like, let's talk about them when they're five and nine and just kick them all it down. Well, I mean, cause after a while it's just like, it gets boring. Yeah.

Who you telling my point? We talk about them too much. Let's take a break.

Patrick, Sir Tan, the second everybody he's the defensive player of the year. He's about to join us next in the Denver Broncos. All right, everybody let's go.

Let me see. Is this a blue ink? What do we got?

What's your choice? Black ink. It's the color of certain mold, right?

Uh, you know, that's the most common question I get is how do I know if it's black mold? Is that right? Yeah, it's black. Yep.

That's the answer. What color is it? It's green.

It's not black mold. Did you, is that the first class that you took? Uh, that was a prereq. Okay. There it is. Mold school.

We learned that, uh, Jay Felley is a mold remedial expert. Is that one way to put it? Yeah.

And MRE, MRE. Okay. Very good. We found that out yesterday and you said you got 15 extra Instagram followers.

Yeah. I was getting all kinds of followers on what? On Jay, Jay Felley or what? They were, uh, what's the other one?

Jay Felley and always first environmental. So what is one, uh, um, Instagram out? Do you Instagram out photographs of hot mold or, you know, what is it? I'm doing tick tock dances.

I'll put like, there's some funny Simpsons stuff where they're complaining about asbestos or if there's updates to, you know, so it's entertaining. I should follow. I should, I should know these things. Yeah. I don't think you follow me. I, are we not that close yet? What? Follow you? What? It always first.

I didn't even know it existed until yesterday. That's fair. You want me to, I'm happy to do it. I want to be friends.

Jay Felley 20. We are friends. We are friends. Is that really an indication of whether you're friends or do you follow someone?

Probably not. Cause I'll tell you what, the love of my life very rarely likes any of the posts. I see who likes it.

It's like dozens of people. And then, um, Susie doesn't even like it. She goes, I saw it. I'm like, just hit, hit the heart. Literally 22 years of me saying this to her. Why?

I mean, I'm, I'm fragile. She's doing it. She's not doing it because you're asking for it. I shouldn't have to ask is my point. Exactly.

Okay. I'm telling you back on the rich eyes and show radio network. I'm sitting at the rich eyes and show desk furnished by Grange with supplies and solutions for every industry.

Granger has the right product for you call click ranger.com or just stop by quite simply one of the best in the business in the national football league. And he didn't take long to get there. He is the reigning defensive player of the year of the national football league.

He is Patrick Sertan, the second of the Denver Broncos. Good to see you, sir. How are you? What's going on?

I'm just talking to the defensive player of the year. How does that name sound? How does that nickname and moniker sound to you? Patrick, are you used to it? Yeah, it sounds great. It's sort of clicking well right now. So I'm getting used to it for sure.

Yeah. I imagine it's, it's one of those things that, uh, might take even take getting used to, but you've been around the game your entire life. What is, what is your first football memory? Patrick first, like vividly football memory. I'm scoring my first touchdown, uh, playing you football as a tight end, uh, with my hand in the dirt. Uh, I caught the ball up the seam and score. So that was like my first vivid football memory. What, what, how old were you? How old were you? I was about like seven years old, I believe seven years old. Uh, first, first time playing like organizational tackle football.

So, okay. Was your dad out of football by that point in time or, or he was, he was still playing. He was with the chiefs at the time. And, uh, we was out in Kansas city and, uh, yeah. And I, I just remember scoring and my pops being their moms on the sideline as well too. So that's my most vivid memory that I could think of early on.

What about being around Arrowhead? Any memories? I remember going on the field before the game for the coin toss, uh, me and my pops and a few other players, you know, that was a pretty cool experience, honestly, uh, just to capture in that moment and, uh, you know, be around the lineage of the NFL. I think that was, uh, an experience that I would cherish for a lifetime. So, you know, being able to experience that early on is sort of like helped me and motivated me to get to that stage early on. Uh, you know, especially at a time where I ain't know what I wanted to do yet. You know, me, I was playing basketball, playing soccer here and there and playing football.

So, but the experience in that, I think it was pretty surreal. Who were his teammates then? Do you remember any of those guys when you were around? Yeah. Uh, Trent green, uh, Ty law.

Um, let me see. Well, um, Jared Allen, uh, you know, it's, it's a long list of guys that he played with, uh, that I remember. So, uh, Tom, the Wayne bowl, you know, so those are those like back in the days before Pat Holmes and Travis Kelsey, what they got going on.

So sure. Oh, six or Oh seven. And that wasn't, you know, just a, I guess date myself here. Oh, six was the first year NFL network started covering Thursday night football in our first game was at Thanksgiving night against Denver, the chiefs in Denver with Trent green starting at quarterback, um, in 2006 on Thanksgiving night, maybe, maybe you were in the stance that night. I probably was in this thing. We might have to recover that.

I might have to do, y'all might've gone to archives and find it. It's really, it's such a small world and now it's your job to make arrowhead as quiet as possible. Is it not Patrick? Yeah, that's, yeah. You mentioned that like it's a small world. I just just being in the stance and arrowhead and now playing against him. Uh, you know, it's, it's honestly a crazy feeling.

It gives me deja vu for sure. Patrick Sertan, the second, the defensive player of the year from the Denver Broncos right here on the rich eyes and show. When did you first realize in the NFL that you were, you were, you were going to be fine.

Everything was going to be good. And as a matter of fact, you could be dominant at your position in the NFL. When did that first happen for you? I think for me, um, like going toe to toe with the best in the game, like my rookie year, um, you know, when I first got my start, like third game of the season, um, I got my first interception against the Jaguars. Um, I was like, yeah, I belong here. Then early on in my career, it's going up against Devontae Adams, you know, who was one of the best in the game, uh, you know, going toe to toe with him and just establishing my mark against the best in the game, you know, against the DK Metcalf's, um, you know, the Taylor McClure's, you know, guys like that across the league and guys around my division early on, like Keenan Allen as well too, and, uh, making my presence felt, I just think that that's where it started at, uh, knowing that I could compete at a high level, you know, going on the island against some of the top, uh, players in the game, you know, the top athletes in the game. And that sort of made me, uh, you know, be a better player as well too with experience. So, and in terms of experience this year, you're, you're now a defensive player of the year.

You're fresh. You're officially that you've reached the pinnacle, uh, of your side of the ball to say the least and made the playoffs too. So where do you go from here do you think, Patrick? I think honestly with me, like you said, I, I've hit that pinnacle stage of, you know, being the top defender in the game, you know, and reaching that status now it's just all about the playoffs and, you know, reaching more into the playoffs. You know, we talking about Superbowl, we talking about finishing the playoffs out the right way. I know last year wasn't the result we wanted to end it with, but you know, I think we capped it off a good way by, you know, reaching the playoffs for the first time in like seven years.

Uh, and that's good for the organization, but you know, that's something to build off of, you know, we learned from that game and we know now what it takes to reach that stage, but to also, uh, finish out the right way. And, uh, I think we have, uh, the right team to do so. Uh, we got young talent all across the board. You know, we got Bo who's firing on all cylinders. Uh, we got a young offensive core, a young defensive core who's hungry and determined. So, you know, it's a lot to be optimistic about, uh, Broncos country. And, uh, you know, the season looking forward, I'm very positive on, you know, the future that we build in here. When did you first realize that your quarterback was the real thing, then Bo Nix?

I mean, so honestly with me, uh, me and Bo got, uh, pretty good experience. Um, you know, I played him in college. I just know the type of competitive nature he brings to the table. Um, he's, he's a type of athlete and the type of player you want on your team and in the locker room.

Um, I just remember in OTA is when one of the first passes he made, he, uh, through a no look pass, just constantly a laser across the middle, a no look pass, you know, one of his first days in the NFL. And I remember I was thinking about, Hey, I was like, yeah, this kid going to be good. Like, I mean, I just seen it early on, uh, in his career in college, but now in the league, I'm seeing his growth and success. I mean, he has a bright future and I'm looking forward to winning, playing the games with him for sure.

It's kind of crazy. You're, you know, you've been in the league since 2021. We're talking about your rookie quarterback. You're like, I played against him in college because he played, he had over like damn near 60 starts in college. Was this an iron bowl when you played against him? You're Alabama. He's Auburn.

Is that what it was? It was an iron bowl. Uh, we wanted one. He had, uh, his win, um, his freshman year and the next year we bounced back and got ourselves a win. So we have ourselves in a established rivalry going on with the iron bowl stuff for sure.

I bet. But this year OTAs, which that's when you're like, okay, uh, we drafted on the first round. And if we, if we have to start with them, we, we got a real one here. That's when you realized it with him.

Yeah. That's when I realized, I mean, not even, uh, you know, his play on the field, uh, his leadership qualities as well to, you know, how he was able to bring the locker room together as a Ricky and, uh, you know, keep the team composed, uh, keep everybody on the offense engaged, um, within the offensive scheme and, you know, rallying guys together. Uh, that's when I realized that he was a real deal, uh, just by his leadership qualities and his personality, you know, it's kind of contagious in a way and everybody feeds off it. So, you know, uh, you know, seeing Bo with his career and how much he's grown throughout this past season, uh, you had no choice but to be, you know, positive and optimistic for his future.

Patrick Sertan the second here on the Rich Eisen show. And we just established again, you're the defensive player of the year. You're the one of the best at your position. You're one of the tops in the national football league. You have a new standing in the league, which means you could easily talk mess about your coach. Let's try. Um, give me your favorite Sean Payton story, please.

What do you got for me? Patrick Sertan the second. I mean, it's plenty. I just know, uh, so Sean, he's a, uh, a big, he's, he's a firm believer in, uh, getting things done. Uh, so, you know, before the season, he's very schedule oriented. Uh, you know, he mentioned about all travel plans, this and that. And, you know, he brought up this time, uh, throughout the offices about going to the Greenbrier, which is a resort in West Virginia. Uh, it's like a old five-star resort, uh, which is very traditional, but, um, so he mentioned it early on, like in training camp before the season even started that we was going to be staying there, uh, uh, during our time in the East coast. Cause we had a schedule where it lined up that we played Tampa Bay.

Then we had to go to New York to play the jets. So, you know, he suggested why not just stay in the East coast, you know, us on the team, we didn't believe it. Like we was going to stay, you know, in this place in this sort of, you know, old, uh, five-star resorted place and, um, now, but he, he stayed with it. And, uh, you know, we stayed there and, uh, some of the team, uh, we was quite confused because we know where we is at. Like we was in the middle of West Virginia, just staying there and sleeping there. And, um, like he had these stories, how everybody believed it was haunted and stuff. And the whole team was kind of scared and sort of skeptical about staying there.

But, uh, you know, he brought us there. He was very confident, uh, that once we stayed there, we're going to get on a winning streak. We was going to get a winning streak going.

Cause you know, the camaraderie going to build the bondage is going to build as well too. And, uh, I just remember some of the teammates, uh, they was hearing noises in a green bar and everybody was scared and, um, everybody was sort of on the edge of their toes. But, um, at the end of the day, it was a great experience because at the end of the day, Sean was like, once we stay here, we going to get a winning streak going. And, you know, surprisingly not, uh, we was on a winning streak and from there on forward, it was like, Sean has these beliefs and he know he has these conspiracies that work and, uh, it pays a long way for sure.

Yeah. I mean, um, that was a pretty big moment for your season. You start on two with a rookie quarterback, you go to Tampa, you come up with a win, you're staying in this haunted place, right? And then all of a sudden you go to New York and you, you beat you, the defense just absolutely beat down the jets offense to the point where we learned later on Patrick, that, that the jets were, you know, the owner was considering benching, um, Aaron Rogers off of that game. Like you, you smoked them and then really started showing some people that you could win, um, and be a serious threat. Like that had to be a very big moment for you, but I'll be straight up with you, Patrick.

I know this is the first time we're really talking. That sounds like you cleaned it up. I know Sean, you're, you're, you're cleaned up something here. You left something out.

You left something on the floor. That's not your best Sean Payton story. I'm going to, I'm just going to go out there and say that you're, you're just, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're hiding it. You're not giving, you're not giving, you're, you're not giving me your best Sean Payton story. I mean, he's like a Parcells guy. He's a hard ass a little bit. He's fun.

He's a bit of a hard ass. I know that he can get on you. Does he get on you? Does Sean get on you at all? Patrick? I mean, here and there he does. Okay.

All right. I mean, I remember one time throughout the year, last year. Um, so two years ago we played against the Patriots and it wasn't the best game.

We lost that game. And on the field, he written down the exact stat sheet that that receiver had against me. Uh, it was, it was just one receiver kept mentioning, uh, you know, it wasn't like one of my worst games, but it was a game where I knew like, I was stacking a little bit, you know, he was on me a little bit about it. And it's this year coming up, we played against a familiar opponent, uh, who wasn't as good, you know, we should, we should have beat the brakes off him. And, uh, you know, he just wrote this stash, you know, paper that the receiver had and he put it on my name plate, my practice jersey, and he made me wear it. The whole fact that we're not doing this again. That's it.

So you put it on your name plate. You're walking around amongst your teammates. He went up to my coach, matter of fact, and, uh, he was trying to make it like so secret about standing right down the knee. My coach was right here. He was like, um, someone body stats against the Patriots last year with his one receiver. And he had a pretty good stat line against our number one corner and I'm hearing it. You know what I mean?

I'm sort of glimpse in the conversation. And, uh, he had this piece of paper written down and I looked at it and it was the statute to receive a head and he taped it on the back of my name plate. And I wore it throughout practice, uh, which was crazy.

Pop, pop Douglas's stat line. Was that what it was? It was, it was DiMera Davis's you know, it was, it was DeMera Douglas, Devante Parker, Devante Parker catches on me. And it was just like one of those games where I wasn't locked in and it was just, yeah, it was, it was one of those games where I have my best game, but he remembered that game vividly. So now see, I was right.

I kept digging, but that is a great story about you going to that spot in West Virginia. He's like, Hey, we're going to go on a win streak and then you do. And then you use that to springboard to your, to your playoffs, uh, appearance. Before I let you go, Patrick, I do need to ask you a question that I ask all Alabama players who played for Nick Saban, literally have asked this of name, name a player over the last 15 years that he's coached, who have gone on to, you know, the national football league and certainly great things like yourself. I asked this question, the most angry, the most pissed off you ever made Nick Saban, Patrick Sertan the second is when I say this story a bunch, um, which I, I mean, I'm pretty sure people are, uh, well aware now was coaching the DBs at his time at Bama as well too.

So, Oh yeah. So he is very hands-on with the DBs. So, you know, so when he see us mess up, it's like, he throw a fit. So I remember my freshman year, um, like my, one of my first days in, uh, we was going through training camp, you know, Alabama is very hot and humid. So when you go through those training camp days, you realize how hard it is. Cause not only you got to know the whole playbook, but you got to go out there and execute it within a couple of days.

So I remember getting my time, uh, to go with the ones my freshman year. And, you know, I was like, you know, so anxious to get out there and, uh, it was this one call I messed up and he went over like numerous times. Um, I was supposed to be in this position.

I ended up in another position. He blew his whistle and he threw his little straw hat on the ground, bumped up to me seriously. And he was just furious, just going on a rant. His face was red. I mean, I just, I just, you know, he, he has spit coming out of his mouth and everything. I'm just like, I'm sitting there taking the heat and I'm like, man, what I do to make this little guy angry. He was furious and not, and I just sat by. I was like, Hey man, I want to get on that side again, but yeah, you don't want to mess up, uh, plays too often though.

He would work it on you for sure. I know there's plenty of clips on him getting on his guys for sure, uh, for messing up calls, but, uh, that was one experience I remember forever. Yeah. He said to a once told me he got, he, he got angry at him after two or through the, the national championship winning throw because he was still upset, but to a took the sack beforehand and to a sort of joke, but I made up for it. And then Nick got angry at him. Right?

Oh, he don't, he don't remember the bad plays more than the good for sure. So that's just him. That's it. And so that's it.

That is exactly right. Hey Patrick, thanks for the time. Greatly appreciate it. What's your message for Broncos nation? Uh, as I leave you about their genuine level of excitement and seeing maybe what the draft can bring. There's some, uh, free agents out there that, uh, you might be, uh, you know, calling or trying to recruit.

What, what's your two cents on that? Um, I would say we about to go big. Uh, we gonna, we gonna capitalize on this off season for sure and build up the season we just had. Cause now we got high hopes and uh, you know, we going to make the Super Bowl run here in a few. So Broncos country, get ready.

Okay. Broncos country, get ready. You almost said, let's ride. You almost went full Russ right there, Patrick. And I almost did.

I had to catch myself. Thanks for the time. Look for more of my, uh, my calls or texts, Patrick. I greatly appreciate it. Congrats on everything going on with you, man. Congrats. You got it. That's Patrick Sertan. The second that is a defensive player of the year, the national football league joining us here on the rich Johnson show fun stuff.

I'm about to bring the diesel cause I'm here to open at night. Super bowl 50 and I just turned 50. The super bowl is my little brother. If Kim Newton is Superman, who the hell is Peyton Manning? The sheriff. He the sheriff.

No, no. The sheriff got a hero? A hero. He was slash.

He was slash. I don't know if anybody else saw it from me. You all noticed it. That damn Bronco logo looked like a penis to me.

Oh, whoa. That's just your eye. That's your eye. We don't see that.

I see a Bronco. Am I wrong? If I'm wrong, someone tell me I'm wrong.

Am I wrong? Look at this. Let me not like yours, but reminds me of mine. Hey Dion, look, it's almost as good as me. Oh, oh, oh, wait, wait. Oh, my eyes are going blind with my shoes. How did it feel playing for the just last year at the wide receiver?

And then a follow up, you get tired of telling people I'm not that damn Brandon Marshall. This earth got attacked by aliens, right? You got to put three other players to Valerie's aliens. Who are those other three players?

It had to be Derek Wolfe because he eats aliens on a daily basis for breakfast. That's what? A kid to leave because he's probably the toughest guy we got in the locker room. Who he masculine? He's just a bouncer just waiting to happen. Hey, it's J.B. Smoot. What's up?

What's up? So, I know you're a big corporate enthusiasm fan, right? Absolutely. You're a big Leon fan.

Huge. Which one of these Leonisms will get you for the game? Getting that ass. That's how I doze it.

Long balls or I brings the ruckus. That's how I doze it. That's how I doze it.

I'm not watching season nine of corporate enthusiasm unless Leon is in it. Let's make that clear. Let's make that clear. That's what I'm talking about. Damn, you are crazy, man.

You don't wear anything. I'm a man of the people, as you can see. All my people are back there. We get it in.

All my people, J.B. Smoot fans, we in this building up here. I'm going to go say hi. I'm going to go say hi.

I'm going to go say hi. What up? Fun stuff. Fun stuff back in the day. Super Bowl 50, as we all know, Super Bowl 60 next year.

Same spot, by the way, in San Francisco. Speaking of creating a ruckus, ladies and gentlemen, here in advance of recording with T.J. Jefferson, No Contest Wrestling, O'Shea Jackson Jr. in... Hello, Richard. What do we call this? What's the jacket you have on today?

Well, for those who are fans of One Piece, I am in my Admiral's jacket. Okay. I don't even know what that is. So, do I salute? Do I do that?

We're kind of the bad guys. You don't have to. Okay. O'Shea has the con.

O'Shea has the con. Very good. Listen, you've been here for all... A long time. Ten plus years, eleven years.

Forever. Is O'Shea Jackson Jr. the first guest to ever wear epaulettes on the program? Yes, and that's the first time that word has ever been said in the history of this program. This is what happens when you bring me on board, Rich. You get things like this, man. Thank you so much.

Epaulettes. How was your show? By the way, are you aware you were a clue in the New York Times crossword puzzle last week? I forgot to tell you this, O'Shea. My bad. My ego needs this.

Continue. The Thursday Times crossword puzzle, I think it was 20 across, blank Jackson Jr., actor blank Jackson Jr. I'm like, I know what that is. Five letters. O'Shea, baby.

Oh, how about that? Ladies and gentlemen. Thank you. Thank you.

Back here on the Rich Eisen Show, O'Shea Jackson Jr. is here wearing epaulettes. Yeah, man. So, how was it today?

How did you get? Everything's great. I can't help but notice Dale Tufo's not here. What did you do? Please, it's every day of the week. I didn't do anything. Okay. All right. The last time I was here, it was really hostile. No, it's not hostile.

He's not here. That's a him thing. It's not a me thing. Okay.

It's a great day for a new Hyundai. Some news for the Philadelphia Eagles. What's happening over there, Chris Brogman?

What do we got over there? Oh, Rich. Howie Roseman has done it again, Rich. Let me guess. Hold on a second. Let me guess. He's paid somebody and he's paid one of his own and rewarded them for winning the Super Bowl.

Correct. Eagles are re-signing Zach Baughn. Three year, $51 million contract. 34 million guaranteed.

Really big pig. Dude, this guy comes to the team from New Orleans. He's mostly a special teams guy and Howie Roseman and Vic Fangio and and Sirianni and the rest of that department scouts him out and says, we can, we can, we can elevate his game.

And he's a defensive player of the year finalist and has now earned his way. This is going to, let me just reiterate one more time. The locker room sees this and realizes that if I ball out and we win it all because I ball out, we're going to get rewarded for it. And that just will reverberate. It will speak volumes in that locker room. His pick in that Super Bowl was kind of the dagger.

Yes. Cause they, they immediately turned it into a points with A.J. Brown catching one from Hertz. Right before halftime instead of the chief scoring, they scored. End of story.

It was, it was, you know, one of my favorite things about the Super Bowl this year is watching Kansas City just drown for about two and a half, three hours. And that was kind of the point where I, I sighed in a moment of relaxation because I knew it was done. It was over. So I would like to thank him. Congratulations on your money, brother. And yeah, there you go. Zach Bond getting it done, man. Congratulations to them.

Yes. Oh, and also shout out to the USC women. I don't know if you guys are aware, but we're at the two seat. Oh, um, Susie went to the, you went to Poly on Saturday night. Were you there?

No, no, no. I was there. They don't let me in that building, but you're playing there. I know bro. Ten championship.

I am a known Trojan alum and I'm very, very aggressive to the Bruins and they do not like me at all. I don't know why. I mean, okay. Oh, and also speaking of two seats, I would like to thank Chris. Oh my God.

And the Boston Celtics for defeating the Denver Nuggets, helping the Lakers get to the two seats. Saturday, Saturday night, we do something for Saturday. What can we do Saturday night? The two of you, what can we get? Can we get some action going on?

What do you want to do? I don't know. For the finals, not shaving my head. Oh yeah.

It's going to the finals for sure. Because like number one, Adam silver, you monster you. I know what's going on. And uh, I mean, you get just what you told Dallas to just only call you.

Is that what you're saying? You get a two, uh, two Jordan brand stars in the finals. First time Luca versus Tatum. Jordan brand ads are going to be crazy.

Got to keep Michael happy by the way. Seven in a row for the Lakers. They score 60, they score 60, 70 points and a half. Like it's no problem.

It's nothing. First of all, the Luca Bronchich, which is what we're calling our tandem now is amazing. The lineup of Gabe Vincent, Vanderbilt and Dorian is now Vincent van Doe. We're killing the game. Vincent van what? Van Doe. Oh my gosh. We're killing it right now. Ladies and gentlemen.
