Why wasn't Jacoby Bressett playing into the fourth quarter?

He would have guaranteed a loss. The Patriots go from one to four. The draft? Gross. Today's guests. Host of the Green Light podcast, Chris Long. Comedian, Gabriel Iglesias. Texas Longhorns wide receiver, Matthew Golden. And now, it's Rich Eisen.

Ah, yes, everybody. Welcome to this edition of The Rich Eisen Show, live on the Roku Sports Channel. It is live also on the Infinity Sports Network. We love being on our new coast-to-coast radio affiliate setup. Back on terrestrial radio and a national radio setup. We're thrilled to be here on Sirius XM channel 158 as well. Thrilled to be streamed live on the Odyssey app, odyssey.com.

844204, Rich, is the number to dial. Those who are listening to us, we sound the same. Those who are watching us on the Roku Sports Channel may notice that we look a little bit different.

And do not adjust your sets. It's just our studio lights went out and haven't come back on. And we're using some spit and polish for the radio audience. Let me describe the way that I am currently lit. I've got a very Colonel Kurtz vibe to me, a very Apocalypse Now vibe to me. Certainly with my newly quaffed, you know, shaved down hair. I do have a genuine Apocalypse Now look to me right now.

Either that or I'm using Fox's hair cutting. I went there. 844204, Rich, is the number to dial right here on the program. Hey, everybody. Chris Long's going to be first up.

Gabriel Iglesias, bless him. We told him that our light situation is a little bit out and he says he's still coming, which is great. And we're thrilled to be here.

844204, Rich, is the number to dial. Good to see you over there, Chris. Here's what happened. TJ, you were at Raw last night. I was watching with Cage. Undertaker came out. The lights went out and then we tried to do that here and then they just didn't come back. Is that what it is?

Yeah, I mean, that's what it was. The lights are like The Undertaker when it comes up off the mat. How are you, Jason Feller? Good to see you.

What's up, Rich? Good to see you in your position. And thankfully, the candle is lit over there, TJ. You want to tell a spooky story? It was a night just like tonight.

Scary story. Tell a large Marge sent you. Good to see you over there.

Rich, of course, Gabriel was going to come here and I bonded last night at Ross, so there was no way he was going to pass up a chance to come into the show today. OK. OK, so that's what we got going on right now. I got like a spotlight on me. I kind of feel like I'm being interrogated. It's like a high school play. High school play. Fantastic. Maybe that's why. Very good.

844204, which, as I mentioned, is in fact the the number to dial here on the program. So the the playoff field, as we know, is set. All 14 teams are seeded. The rest of the league is figuring out how to proceed with their future. And remarkably, as we're looking at the NFL playoff field right now, remarkably, it's been a somewhat quiet coaching carousel so far. I mean, I think everybody thought that once the season was over and then the fact that the Patriots were first up in one and dunning Gerard Mayo, that the floodgates would open. Right. And then we didn't hear about anyone else until Doug Peterson was let go via announcement and release and things of that nature.

And Shaad Khan did speak yesterday. And then one after another, you saw teams say, we're not moving. We're not doing anything.

The Dolphins put out a release. They're not making a move with their front office or their coaching staff. They're not making a move with the Giants. They're not making a move with Indianapolis Dolphins, Giants, Indianapolis.

So we're kind of just waiting for the other shoe to drop, I guess, on whether Jerry Jones decides to keep Mike McCarthy and extend him or not. Antonio Pierce too, kind of waiting on that. I mean, Antonio Pierce had a press conference yesterday. And the one thing that everyone was talking about was his old school starter's jacket. Like that's what came out of Antonio Pierce's press conference yesterday is, A, he's still got a gig and B, he went old school with a starter's jacket. Oh, you didn't see this?

No. It's one of these old school Raiders starters. Yeah, that's what everyone was talking about.

Those things are so sick. God, the Raiders are the best. And so the question is, maybe the pieces have all landed and maybe Bill Belichick was wise enough to read the room and see that his best opportunity to get a job was to say yes to the University of North Carolina.

And he headed everything there off at the pass. And what that means is, you know, Ben Johnson and Mike Vrabel are the hot candidates. The offensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions, offense on tilt for years now with Jared Goff being the quarterback and Mike Vrabel, if you want somebody with experience, no matter how much heat Rex Ryan can place on himself, you want previous coaching experience. It's Mike Vrabel sitting out there. Who wants Mike Vrabel? I know you do over there, Chris. Yeah, my hand is firmly raised.

Anyone? And last year when he remarkably didn't get a job, I would be particularly stunned if he doesn't get one this go round. And the Jets have already spoken to him and the way I mentioned yesterday. Yeah, I think the Jets speaking to Vrabel and saying everything went really well caused the Patriots to say we better move.

Yep. Because we missed out on him last year due to our insisting our plan stay in place with Gerard Mayo. And then the question is, if you're a Chicago Bears fan, who do you want? Do you want the guy with experience who can be the CEO who you know is a CEO and you know has got the experience and you know has won playoff games and you know has that red ass quality that Chicago fans will appreciate? And you see him basically potentially giving tough love to Caleb Williams and getting the defense up to speed and finding the proper coordinators and being that CEO coach or do you hope that Ben Johnson is that guy and you attach him to the hip of Caleb Williams?

A fascinating set of possibilities or this one came out yesterday and I sent an email to you guys. You can get an offensive guy who's also a CEO who I think would be a terrific fit who is the guy that I have been saying from this chair over and over and over again that if I was running an NFL franchise I would hand the guy a check and say put the amount in it and you are my guy. You've said it for years. Yeah, years. Did you see who the, because I believe he's with the Broncos organization right now in a capacity.

Senior personnel exec. David Shaw. Yeah, you love David Shaw. I love David Shaw.

I'm talking like five years now you've been, even longer than that you've been saying. I love David Shaw. Big time. The guy has got NFL experience with multiple staffs, Ravens being the one that just leaps out at you off the screen, a builder of programs, a terrific face to put out into the community, handling the media, a steady hand, somebody who doesn't just go nuts but has an intensity about him. God, I think he would be great for the Chicago Bears. Leader of men. Oh my goodness, is he ever.

Is he ever. And also, under the construct at Stanford, that ain't an easy one to have a construct there to win. Yeah, you're kind of handcuffed when it comes to recruiting.

Well, I mean, one would also say the provost has an academic standard. You might use handcuffs. You can't just take everybody.

When I saw that, I emailed the rest of the group, right? I just put one word, bingo. That would be stupendous. And I know Bears fans would be like, really? Because I see what Ben Johnson's doing up in Detroit. He knows how to win in the division. Let's connect him to Caleb Williams. I get lovey vibes with David Shaw. That would give me flashbacks if I'm a Bears fan.

Meaning what? He would take you to the Super Bowl? He would actually beat the Green Bay Packers? He would actually beat the Green Bay Packers? That guy?

When you haven't won for a while, you want to do a 180 of what you're accustomed to. Which is what? Vrabel? Someone who looks alive on the sideline? David Shaw. I don't know how many Stanford games you watched, but I'll just, as you know, you know how I feel about him.

So obviously, I'm. Lovey won 81 and 63 for the Bears. I would be very happy if I was a Bears fan and David Shaw was named the head coach of the Chicago Bears. But I'm biased, too, because I also sat next to him for almost a decade on draft night.

On opening night of draft night when he was part of our crew. And I know his sensibilities. I know how he, he knows the league, too.

He really does. So that's what's going on in the in the National Football League. Chris Long's going to join us. And I want to unpack this, maybe, if you will, light up a phone line here on the Infinity Sports Network.

See what you do. And the Roku Sports Channel. Yeah, something's got to get lit around here.

And Travis Scott last night. Right now. I wish I was lit. I don't mean, you know, we might have some champagne in the back.

I mean, you know, I mean, you aren't doing what the football later on today. And they usually do like to drink the wolf off your back. They got some.

Stephen A. Smith is their guest. You know, at any rate, what I'm mentioning here is I want a team that nobody's talking about. Or not enough people are talking about. In the playoffs to go on a run.

That's always fun. I want a team that few. Some people could be talking about them, but not enough are. And obviously, you take a look at the five, six and seven seeds for that usually.

But there are some teams that are seeded three and four that aren't getting talked about quite a bit either. And I kind of want to hit on that for a brief bit before Chris Long joins us from the Green Light podcast. I'm going on that. My goodness, I feel I do feel like I'm going up the river like Colonel Kurtz here. I know you need to see a great time.

We reference that to you. Excuse me, but I love and appreciate all the time just because you were born in the 70s and have no interest in seeing anything that was ever created before it. Definitely not born in the 70s.

Thank you. 80s. What team do you what team are we not talking about enough? I this is actually going to probably please you. I don't think we're talking enough about the Chargers. I know it's been a you know, Jim plus them up this and plus them up that. But how many people are realistically giving them a chance to win the Super Bowl in the AFC? It's all about the Chiefs and the Bills and the Ravens. You know, this is a team that's played great defense all year. Justin Herbert has been completely unlocked with Jim Harbaugh. Amazing touchdown to interception ratio.

He we're not relying on him to win games. They have a stout run game. They just signed Ezekiel Elliott to the practice squad. We're going to see him on the goal line in the playoffs. And they get the Texans first up a team that everyone is completely writing off and just assuming that the Chargers are going to win this game.

We're going to see Jim Harbaugh on divisional weekend being one win away from going to the AFC Championship game. We're not talking enough about the Chargers. We don't love the wide receivers.

None of them are sexy. It's a second round pick. It's Josh Palmer.

It's all these also rands. They're a really fun smash mouth team and they're going to win a game this weekend. And we're going to see them on the precipice of the AFC title game.

Stone smart with two T's? By the way, how wild would it be if Jim Harbaugh returns to the National Football League and wins his first playoff game with Ezekiel Elliott and JK Dobbin scoring touchdowns to make Joey Bosa happy? Talk about strange bedfellows to beat CJ Stroud. Right? Right?

It's going to happen. He's putting his head on the goalpost of November past because Zeke made Jim's life. I don't think. Was Zeke there when Jim was there? Was Zeke making Brady Hoke's life miserable? I forget. He was making my life miserable. He had to be with the Niners when Zeke was there.

And JK Dobbins. It's just amazing strange bedfellows. Which team are we not talking about for you? You want to hear something? Sure. I'll give you something. I'm asking. Candle's lit.

If Jalen Hurts does not recover from this concussion, the Green Bay Packers are going to end the Philadelphia Eagles season. He's still in protocol. I think that that is just. I don't know. We're ten days removed.

When we're talking about head injuries, I understand it. But I just think that that's. You think with Kenny Pickett back there they're going to. No, I think Jalen Hurts is going to play for them. I don't know. It was an if. I gave you an if.

But that's what I believe. I think believe Jalen Hurts can play football. How about this, though, for the Green Bay Packers is they not Detroit. Maybe the NFC North team that has too many injuries to overcome. In the very end, with Christian Watson out and Jair Alexander out and. Who knows what the hell is going on with the elbow of Jordan Love? How about that? That at the end of the day, the NFC North team that has too many key players out due to injury to overcome might wind up being the Packers.

I wasn't thinking about Jordan Love's elbow when I. No, but they can absolutely go into Philadelphia, by the way, and beat Jalen Hurts. Sure. I've got a team for you, but I'm going to hold that in advance for later on. In the meantime, I want to hear I want to hear from you. Eight four four two oh four rich number to dial right here on the infinity sports network coast to coast. We appreciate you listening to us there or Sirius XM one eighty five one one fifty eight. So when we come back, Chris Long of the Green Light podcast and inside the NFL and the CW, one of our favorites will join us next. Follow and listen on your favorite platform. All right, again, we come into work today and studio lights aren't working. And boy, we were we were fire drilling quite a bit. TJ, you were taking you. You put us up on IG Live, correct?

At one point in time. You know, just to kind of let the people know what was going on, you know, what we were dealing with. But just let them know no matter what happened, we were going to be coming to a live regardless. We'd be in the dark or not.

So, yeah, it's also fun to take questions, you know, kind of give the people a little behind the scenes look at what we do. Well, a piece of business just hit and we can react to it now live if you want a surprise change. A general manager, the Tennessee Titans have fired Rand Carthon. Who's been at the position ever since they fired John Robinson, the general manager there who we all assumed lost his gig because he had the he made the mistake of sending A.J. Brown elsewhere rather than paying him. And as we know, that move made Mike Vrabel upset and then Carthon.

Vrabel wasn't apparently one of Carthon's people, so Vrabel was surprisingly let go right around this time last year. And Brian Callahan staying, but a new GM's coming in. And the new GM is going to have quite the catbird seat position who wants to be part of an NFL franchise and choose a first overall pick in the draft. But you can't choose the coach. Man, we'll talk about that a little bit more later on on the program. But that just happened. Once again, the Titans kind of making a move in early January. It's got a lot of people going, huh?

With the ultimate of respect, that's the only word I'm saying right now. Back here on the Rich Eisen Show radio network, I'm sitting at the Rich Eisen Show desk furnished by Grainger with supplies and solutions for every industry. Grainger has the right product for you.

Call click ranger dot com or just stop by. Always thrilled that this guy's joining the program, certainly on this day, because A, there's so much to talk about. And B, because our studio lights are down.

We'll take any light, white or green. And the host of Green Light with Chris Long here back on the Rich Eisen Show. How are you, Chris? Good to see you.

What's up, Rich? How y'all doing? Well, I mean, we're we're dealing with some lighting issues in our studio, but we're we're still we're still going, you know. So I'm also dealing with some lighting issues, man.

I got to close the windows or something. I'm looking kind of washed out. We'll take some of that if you can bundle that up and send it all the way across the country here to Los Angeles. We'll take anything right now, but it's all good. I can't help.

All right, Chris, let's let's just jump right into it. Are the Lions a team to beat in your estimation, based on what you've seen over the last month and especially on Sunday night? What do you think? Are the Lions the team to beat?

Yes, the NFC. Is that an invitation? Is that an invitation? No, I'm not I'm not doing it. Be careful. Rich, right off the bat, they're going to be like Chris Long picks the Lions to win the Super Bowl. No, I mean, the team to beat.

What does that mean? They're the number one seed in the NFC. They have home field advantage. They earned it. It feels like at every turn in the road where we've doubted them through, you know, the injuries.

You know, you think maybe that the other shoe is going to drop. They're not what you think they are. They seem to be what we thought they were. And that is probably the most complete team in the NFC. Like you could argue that Philly's got the better roster top to bottom. But I do think Jared Goff, the way he's played this year, gives them a little bit of an edge in that respect and obviously home field advantage. Now, Philly could certainly beat that team if they play their best ball. And I think Minnesota would probably look a lot better than they did in that second match up there.

I mean, like if you're Minnesota, you're probably getting home and saying, hey, listen, you know, look between the 20s. We can compete with this team. We got down there in the red zone and played our worst game.

And the quarterback who's been good against the blitz this year really struggled. You know, I think Detroit has been the most consistent team in the league. They've gotten back on the horse after that Buffalo loss. They got back on the horse after an early loss in the early in the season. They've they've continued to replace people on defense. The job that Aaron Glenn has done has been incredible. I thought he called maybe his best game of the season and he saved it for the right spot the other night.

Yeah, like Anzalone's back. Hard to go into the playoffs and give anybody else that title of the team to beat when they got home for that advantage and the best record. Well, I mean, the best team, the team to beat is definitely the team that you think is best. I guess that is the that's the phrase that pays right there. I mean, because you could sit here and say the Chiefs are the team to beat because they're the one seed or you think the Bills or the Ravens are better.

Like that. But there's no team to beat this year. There's too many good teams. I really do believe that this thing's wide open, like, you know, in the NFC, I think it's all in the AFC.

It's all matchup predicated. Honestly, like I could see a path for Kansas City winning it. I could see a path for Baltimore winning. I could see a path path for Buffalo winning it. And I can say the same thing about a couple of the teams in the NFC as well. But it kind of all depends on who they play and where they play them. Yeah, I think when you get into the playoffs, you can look at each game individually and pick each game individually. But unless you know how that tree is going to sort out and, you know, is this team, is T-Max going to see probably their worst matchup at some point or are they not going to see their worst matchup?

I think a lot of the times it comes down to that. So team to beat. I'm sorry, Rich. I'm just not crazy about that. All right, someone get me. Let me give you while you're not crazy about that. Let me throw another sports talk radio one at you because that's our conversation we're having today. The playoff team, we're not talking about enough that can go on a run. That's a very good one. That's a very good one.

All right. You know, as I go down the list, I think, you know, the Packers have not earned the right to have that title. They haven't won any of their big games. They're kind of limping into the playoffs.

I think the commanders, the way they can get hot can certainly ruin a team's day. Like, you know, Philly, they could certainly say if Jalen Hurts is on the field matchup to win that game. But at the same time, Jayden Daniels and a lot of it was was the Eagles mistakes kind of torch them. So that's a dangerous team. I think the Bucks are really dangerous. Offensively, but the defense is kind of tapered off as the years gone on, do some injuries. I think the Rams are always dangerous, right?

And when I talk about matchups, a lot of it is matchups. Like the Rams don't want to play the Eagles. But other than that, I think they'll go toe to toe with anybody in the NFC. So I think the Rams are one of those scary kind of teams. And then the AFC. I think the Chargers, as much as I wanted to handicap them due to the lack of weapons on offense and that sort of thing, you can see Quentin Johnson pop up and have a really good game here and there. Like if that guy goes off in a playoff game, if they can get something out of, you know, a second receiver, other than Lab McConkie, you know, they can muddy something up for like a Kansas City. I don't know if they can beat Kansas City. They're going to be a fun team to watch in the playoffs.

As well as, you know, it really could be any of them. We've seen that in the past where a team will go on a run and get into the dance. And it's just about like when you play that team, not the team that you're playing, but when you play that team. So teams will get hot and get in the playoffs and surprise some people.

So, you know, just going down the list, outlining some of those teams, I think there's a couple that you could argue could make a run to the Super Bowl that are not division winners. So you say the Rams don't want to see the Eagles because Saquon's still running all over them? The size of that front.

The size of that front. Like I think the Rams defensive front's a lot of fun. They're young.

They're productive. I love Jared Vers. You know, Fisk, I thought, you know, probably could have gone to the Pro Bowl the way he played this year. And, you know, Young, Turner, the Rams, they're just a little light up front to face up with a Philly front like that. We already saw what that looks like in L.A. I'm not saying it would happen the exact same way, but as that game went on, they kind of got worn down. I think L.A. is probably the answer to your question. But I'm just kind of illustrating the fact that like there is a team that they'd probably not want to see.

And it goes the same for pretty much anybody. And I think honestly, if you're talking about a team to beat, like who's the best team playing the best at the end of the season? It's the Ravens, in my opinion. I think the Chiefs made a jump at the end of the season when they got some of their guys back offensively and they opened up the offense a little bit. Moved Joe Tooney to left tackle.

That's a big deal. But I think the Ravens, pending Zay Flower's injury, to answer the question a different way, are playing the best out of the good teams going in the playoffs. Chris Long here. Everybody check out Green Light Pod with Chris Long and inside the NFL on the CW right here on the Rich Eisen Show. Were you surprised that the Kraft family joined the one and done club, Chris?

I guess I'm not surprised, but I do think you kind of stepped in it. Like, you know, we all know it's really hard for black coaches to get jobs in the NFL, like head jobs. History has shown that.

I mean, you know, I think it's getting better, but there's a lot of work to be done still. And yeah, Gerard Mayo, who is a draft class, made a mind like we're the same damn age. And I'm so excited watching him get a job. It was a short path for him to get that job, but they didn't really give him a chance. And, you know, they didn't invest in that team in free agency like anybody could have seen. Like Bill Belichick won, what, five games this first year.

I'm not saying Mayo was going to be Bill. But I think, unfortunately for Gerard, it ended up being a thing where Mike Vrabel is out there. And I think Robert Kraft made a messy decision a couple of years ago trying to kind of clip, not trying to clip his wings and saying, hey, you got to stay here, but almost operating out of FOMO. Like if this guy leaves and he's a great coach, I'm going to feel really bad about it.

So I'm going to do this guy a solid. But really what you're doing is you're hoarding the coach and then you give the coach one year to succeed. And like, I don't know when he gets another opportunity like this. So, you know, I think I think it culminates in another messy decision where you're like, hey, I was trying to do a solid by Gerard.

And I think Robert's a great guy and has been a really good owner for, you know, obviously a long time. But I felt like post Tom Brady and post Bill, it's definitely more of a strain to make these decisions. Like you're used to making decisions with this long runway. And I think part of the being naive enough to think, hey, we can make a five year decision on who Bill's successor is and then to accelerate the timeline on Bill's demise in New England yourself and then lament the fact that Gerard actually in retrospect didn't have enough time.

Well, you you sped that clock up, you know. So I think it was just a messy decision and it leads to another messy decision where you got to fire a guy after one year. And that's never a good thing. Like we whoever the coaches over the past, you know, 10, 20 years, we any time a guy gets fired in the first year, which is kind of an increasing trend, like everybody's going to look at you a little sideways, but he can definitely find the right guy. I mean, I think you can net out and find yourself the right coach and be in a better situation. But it does it does suck for Gerard Mayo, who, you know, took that job and it wasn't a highly desirable job. I know they used to play there and everything and they don't really invest in the team.

The team's not great. And a year later, he's on the street. But, you know, I do think if the defense was better, he might still be there because I do think part of the dynamic is like Robert doesn't want Bill to he doesn't want to fire Bill and then watch the defense get worse. And people say, oh, well, we miss Bill.

Like there's still some of that there. I think ultimately those those press conference gaffes and whatnot and you know what the fans thought, which is something that Robert Kraus made abundantly clear that he does listen to the pulse of the fan base and that sort of thing. And he is a fan himself like that factored in. So I think it's just another instance of an owner making a very human decision. I'm not saying he did it with any ill intent, but it was messy and it wasn't thought through. And once you put that clause in his contract and then you fire Bill a little bit before maybe you thought you'd let him go.

What do you think is going to happen? The guy's only been coaching four or five years. You give him a job and only last a year. You don't invest in the team. It's just a crappy situation for Jarod Mayo.

But I do think that's a desirable job. I would just say this, like just because Vrabel is on the menu and McDaniel's name's been thrown around, like I'm not saying I know a lot by being there for a year, but what I am saying is like a media member and somebody who's watched that program kind of rise and fall, so to speak. Like the Patriot way isn't something you just snap your fingers and get like it's not like, oh, we're going to hire Mike and it's going to come. It's going to go back to like what it was or Josh.

Get the band together. Like you have to open the search. And I think they will to people like Ben Johnson. Like at some point you have to move on from the past. You can still retain some of those qualities that made those teams great.

Some of the culture touch points. But like to me, it's a little bit shortsighted to just be like, hey, we have the privilege of hiring only the people we truly trust in this building, which is the way they did things for a long time. But you don't have that privilege anymore. You don't have Tom Brady. You don't have Bill Belichick.

So I think you got to open that search and you can't cling to too tightly to the past. But yeah, the decision for Gerard to coach here kind of sucks. And I'm not saying Rob's Robert Kraft's a bad guy or a bad owner, but I think it was a really messy decision.

Any steps in it because of the black coach thing, which is a reality. Chris Long here on the Rich Eisen show, put yourself in the Dolphins locker room hearing Tyree kills postgame comments. Walk me through it, Chris. We're all independent contractors, right? That's we were texting about this the other night. You were like you were taken aback by the quotes after the game.

I sure was. They gave up a lot to get them. They paid him top of the market. He had seventeen hundred yard seasons two years in a row. He was the first overall selection by his peers in the top one hundred of the NFL.

So he was able to have that in his on his resume. And then all this happens. And he's like, deuces, I'm out.

Well, so I think, you know, the immediate questions I've heard are like, how can you forgive him? Like if you're if you're a teammate? Well, you don't have to if you're a teammate is not your teammate anymore.

You know, not yet, not yet. He's not Jimmy Butler. This isn't the NBA where you say I want out and you get out.

It's very rare. I know Davante Adams kind of did that in a way, but you could say he can't do that. Yes, he can, because somebody is going to want Tyree kill on their team next year. So unless you're telling me nobody's going to trade for the guy and I think he knows that like there would be a market for him. He's not going to say something like that. And by saying that, you kind of draw a line in the sand where you know that, like if everybody in the building knows you don't want to be there. And this is the thing about coaches and organizations. I remember sitting in meeting rooms and locker rooms and coaches and organizations. You know, they used to love the saying, like, if you don't want to be here, leave. And then, of course, like a guy will say, I don't want to be here, like, and it's going to be hard to get rid of them because of the because of the number. But he's Tyree kill like somebody is going to throw the ball at Tyree kill next year.

He's still got it. You know, so I would say, like, for me, it's hard for me to get outraged because we've moved sports into this territory. Like it has just moved this way over a number of years where, like, you can ask me what it'd be like to be his teammate, but I don't really know.

I can tell you I'd probably be like, oh, you quit on us. But as somebody sitting here in this chair doing the job I'm doing now, like, I'm not going to feign outrage when, you know, that's the way sports are now. Everybody has an easy way out now, you know, and I hate to sound old school, but that's what it is.

And, you know, like when I used to play and walk up uphill six miles in the snow, I'm just joking, like, because it wasn't like I played in the 80s or 90s when things were hard. But, like, loyalty was a little bit more of a thing. And, yeah, sure, you had holdouts and people that were trying to, you know, that were trying to make things right with their contract or get paid what they were owed. But, like, forgot to just say, hey, I went out of Kansas City, go to Miami, you know, spend a couple of years there and see that, hey, it is a lot more fun winning.

Well, there are consequences that generally you have to kind of play out your contract. But in today's day and age, like, you can say, hey, how could we forgive him? We will forgive him. We will be on this show next year talking about, wow, what a catch by Tyreke Hill. It's so fun to watch Jayden Daniels throw him a deep ball because nobody in Miami could throw a damn deep ball the last couple of years.

And, you know, another thing is, you know, you talk about Miami as the greatest show on turf. Well, why does he want to leave? Great question.

Great question. I said it had to be about money is what I thought. It's definitely about money. He definitely wants a new deal and that sort of thing. And I think being 30 and being a skill guy and, you know, kind of now counting the years and saying, like, how many more years do I have in this window to earn? And I know people are like, well, he just got paid a bunch of money. But if I'm not mistaken, 26 is not guaranteed.

I believe I believe you're correct. But be that as it may, he's he's definitely entering the backside of the contract that the the Dolphins gave him. But that's why I asked you to put yourself in the locker room.

You know what I mean? Because you just spilled your guts out, you know, hoping against hope. And you're staring up at the scoreboard watching Bo Nix run it up on the Chiefs, knowing that this thing's not going to happen.

And as soon as it's over, you know, and you're watching the Jets celebrate Aaron Rodgers is, you know, 500th career touchdown pass. I understand things are raw, but, you know, he's the only one that said, I don't want to be here anymore. There might be I've had a bunch of teammates quit, like, you know, not maybe out in the public or, you know, they've done things that have kind of been traitorous. Things that, you know, from an effort standpoint, from a commitment standpoint, you know, like people quit on their teams all the time. And, you know, just this guy happens to be a guy that is one of the best in the world. And, you know, for somebody like him who's got all the money in the world and he's on a contract where he's getting paid a ton more.

It's really hard for people to kind of to kind of figure that one out. But I just think that's the way sports are going, man. Like if I was his teammate, obviously I'd be like, what a quitter. Like, bro, we just we were just in this playoff run, like we had a chance to get in like 15 minutes ago, you know, and all of a sudden you're just walking off after the last game. But I can't put myself in those shoes because I'm not in that locker room.

I don't know everything that's going on. You know, I know as a media member, this is just the way it is now. And like, unless we're going to protest every Tyreek Hill highlight in the future, I'm not going to sit up here and on a soapbox and be like, oh, what a quitter.

Sports is full of quitters now. The consistency of Chris Long, it's it's it's very, very inspiring. You inspire. You know, what do you guys think? I exactly what I texted you. I said right into this microphone, albeit a little bit better lit yesterday, you know that. Yes, I am, you know, stunned by it. And I mean, offended obviously is is a strong word because it's not my locker room and it's the offended rich, you know, but you know, because I don't know everything that's going on behind the scenes. Of course, I want him on the Patriots next year.

Let's go. Well, I mean, how right exactly who cares about workout for you with Antonio Brown and he did you see it was great for one game. Did you do not comparable? I just want to say this AB and Tyreek not comparable just with the kind of the history of like the on the field stuff where no, I know that Chris, but the only reason why I bring that up is two reasons. One because it's yet another receiver doing something in MetLife Stadium. I don't know what it is about that, but to if you look at his his Twitter avatar changed it to AB. Yeah, he put his face on on a round taking his jersey off at MetLife.

And what happened when they took it? What happened when AB took his jersey off at MetLife? He was done.

Half of the Internet loved it. Yeah, but where is he now? He's he's he's doing what CT ESPN. Yeah, talking about what's going on in the television business, right?

And he seems to get great engagement. I mean, that's what the world is now, bro. Like it's just it's just cloud.

Everything's cloud. Everything's about quitting. There's no loyalty. We you know, we're we spent so long being pro player that we didn't know where to draw the line, you know, and and I'm so I'm so pro player. I'm so pro player movement. I'm pro players, you know, making more money, more guaranteed money. I'm I'm befuddled half the time when people take the side of the owners and these negotiations and, you know, all that stuff. And I hate seeing, you know, in a sport where there's a hundred percent injury, the guys get locked in these crappy contracts and teams can cut them whenever they want.

No questions asked. Is it fair? No, but currently is what we signed up to do. And I wouldn't even put Tyree kill on the side of the sliding scale where I feel bad for a player. So, you know, we we asked for it. This is what we get. I mean, seriously, we we we all want to be so pro player and pro. You know, we don't want to at the at the risk of not sounding progressive in the world of sports, you know, and now we're here where all of a sudden even the most progressive of us are like the whole the whole transfer portal thing's crazy. You know, like the NIL stuff's gotten out of control or, you know, Tyree kill can walk in the locker room after game and say I'm quitting. Well, I mean. Who are we?

Who are we to tell a player where he has to play football, right? You know, absolutely. I just I'm it's just like, what do you expect? We forgive this stuff all the time and we will. Chris, I got I will and I will. I will. Next year, I'm going to be like, oh, Tyree kill. It's a lot of fun to watch Jayden.

And also on the ball. Everybody check out the final episode of Green Light with Chris Long podcast before he turns it into the unwoke podcast with Chris Long. Ladies and gentlemen, you're the best, Chris. All right.

Take it easy. Everybody check it out. Chris, Chris Long and the Green Light with Chris Long podcast. The one and I just love when he comes on. We'll be back on the Roku channel in a moment. Now, time for sports update with Andrew Bogusch.

Big set of ovaries and then we obsess, follow and listen on your favorite platform. Rockman, just out of the blue. Where were you when you sent this tweet, Chris? Oh, I mean, was that on a Sunday?

Was it a Sunday night? I remember I was probably just at home and you just said, you know, any game if the Eagles make the playoffs, I'll take a bite out of Mike Del Tufo's hat. You said I will take a bite out of Mike Del Tufo's hat. Yeah. Eagles have made the playoffs and you have avoided the inevitable for a week.

That ends now. I just sliced up a one inch by one inch cutout of Mike Del Tufo's Callaway hat. And I placed it like little Easter eggs into the right half of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Take a bite. Here we go.

You go. Rockman is taking a bite. Did you get a piece of the hat there? I think you did. You're the one who chose the peanut butter too.

No, we don't. That's one bite of it. Oh, he's taking it in.

Just swallow. Did you get it? Did you get a nice piece? It's down. It's gone. By the way, this is creamy peanut butter suddenly made a little chunky. Oh, I feel it. It might be stuck in my throat. There we go. There we go, man.

You're champions of the NFC East Philadelphia Eagles. Oh, there's part of the hat sticking out. I didn't get it off.

Oh, that is an awful piece right there in that sandwich. No, you may not. As long as you eat it.

As long as you eat it. Keep going. Keep going. I didn't go through.

This piece is right on my tooth. Keep going. You're almost done, man. I mean, I'm very proud of you.

Oh, I went down. Why did you even do this, Chris? You didn't have to. You took the McLovin Bait. Because the Eagles stink. You took the McLovin Bait. They're terrible. They shouldn't have made the playoffs. That's why. If the Eagles make the playoffs, I'll eat a bite of Del Tufo's hat on air.

I mean, and you're doing it right now. That was on the 24th of November. Oh, my God.

That was Sunday. Radio audience, I can't even tell if that's a piece of glistening jelly or a piece of a glistening, a jelly glistened Del Tufo hat piece. Oh, down it. Just I feel like I'm talking to Taylor eating her broccoli. Just eat it and we'll get off your case. Oh, he just went one bite. He finished it. This is not going to be good because that is peanut butter and it is jelly and it is Del Tufo hat.

And you just jammed literally three inches by three inch piece of sandwich. It was a proud day for my future son. Oh, my God. We've got to show that now to cage. He'll just laugh at me.

He probably thinks it's the funniest thing ever. By the way, that was five years ago today. I know he wasn't even born yet.

But that clip is five years ago today. Wow. And there's still a hat inside of you, probably. We've came. He hasn't digested. He's got Del Tufo's DNA. And it's all the Cowboys fault.

Great job, TJ. No, that was your fault for taking the McLovin. No, you guys blew it and didn't make the win the division that year.

And nobody told you to make that bet. How far did the Eagles go though? Did they did they was that was that the 19 playoffs? That was the one where the Niners and the the Eagles made it. I'm sure. I mean, the Niners and the Chiefs made it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. In Miami.

Let's see. How far did the Eagles go? Oh, they lost to Seattle 17 to nine. Yeah.

They got knocked off at home. Great job, TJ. Great job, Cowboys. I might have been. Was that Russ's last playoff win as a Seahawks? Might have been. Yeah, they lost to Green Bay the next week.

844-204-rich being the number to dial. The text I got last night over and over and over again from multiple people is your guy TJ is all over Netflix right now. That's true. When you said you were going to Intuit Dome for Raw, Monday Night Raw, the debut of the WWE on Netflix. Yeah. I had no idea you were damn near being tagged into a match. I was ready. Because you were there front row and Vinnie Pasquantino was the one who let me know because he texted the two of us together. I hadn't turned it on yet and it was about 20 past five local and Vinnie was like, Hey, I just saw TJ in the front row behind McAfee. And there you were meeting with, you ran into our next guest as well, Gabriel Iglesias. We were sitting next to each other for a solid two hours and 20 minutes. I was sitting there thinking, man, I know I just saw his name on an email and then I pulled my phone out and I checked my email and I was like, bro, you're coming on the show tomorrow.

Right. Like I am. Well, he started telling me about this press tour he's doing for a standup. So he's going all over. So he didn't even know, you know, he just like, I know I have to be here, here and here, but I don't know what day.

And so, yeah, he wasn't even, he was like, wow, okay. Vinnie, Kansas City Royal, the Pasquatch was the one who told me about it. He's also, I believe, a regular listener of No Contest Wrestling as well, a viewer of it on our YouTube channel. And, but, you know, speaking of baseball, do you know those moments in the stands that go viral when there's a kid who's ready to catch a foul ball and some adult steps right in front and steals the spotlight? Oh, yeah. Well, TJ, jumping in front of Ashton Kutcher's son to get on television, I think is the equivalent. Poor better, man. He's thinking he's on Netflix and Uncle TJ jumps in. Donnie Baseball.

I look like a G right there. What's the matter with you, man? That's our number one on our radio side. You know, he's this poor kid. We, by the way, we pixelated his face because we don't know if we appreciate that. Well, I mean, he was all over Netflix, but for our purposes. But so Ashton and Bear go and you were the plus, you're the plus one for.

Yeah. You know, about two years ago, Bear started to realize how much I liked wrestling. So he started asking about it. So I started giving them history. I started started with Andre the Giant, start telling because I needed someone larger than life that he would be like, wow. So then, you know, we start watching.

I think the first match I showed them was Ricky Steamboat and Macho Man Savage. But he was he was into it, man. He knew all the chance. Like he was waiting for Jay Uso to come out so he could eat like the entire arena went crazy.

McAfee was by the way, shout out to Pat McAfee for he was right in front of you. Right. Well, and he gave the podcast a shout out when O'Shea got put up on Netflix. He goes, Yeah, right.

He was like, he's got a great wrestling podcast. Lakers belt. Yeah. And Josh, I booed O'Shea when he lifted up the Lakers. You can't wear that home of the Clippers to Uncle Stevie didn't build that purpose. Yeah.

Bummer didn't build all those toilets to have a Laker purple and yellow belt in the building. But yeah, it was amazing. Rod was great.

It was great. A bunch of Ted Sarandos, the head of Netflix, was sitting in front of us and a security guard and look like he asked him to move his seat. And I was like, bro, you know, he's the reason we're here today. By the way, Ted's having quite the run on on Prairie Avenue right there, which is the street of into a dome and also the home of the Brady Roast up the road. Yeah. I mean, Netflix has been having quite the run on that on that street. Like John Cena last night said we're no good.

The NFL Network Studio was the the home of Netflix's studio on Christmas Day, too. He's making his way down the road. So you said you're the one who turned bear onto wrestling and he's beginning to, as he grows older, realize more and more at what age will he realize you try to steal his spotlight? At what age will this sweet young boy go?

What is it? I mean, there's dad. There he is.

And there's you're just jumping in going on because Fluffy was on my left. So when he got shown, I kind of leaned over into his shot, too. But he's OK. He's on he's he's on TV. He's not eight.

Look, I let Bear get his shine. And then I jumped in like he's on Netflix, his new show, his new special. He's coming on to promote it on Netflix.

So he's cool if his spotlights on Netflix is being stolen by you. This young man has got one shot. Now it's a three shot. Or overreact with us overreaction Monday. Follow and listen on your favorite platform. It's Game Over. Over.
