Fire the cannons. Earlier on the show, Pro Football Hall of Famer Kirk Warner. Still to come, latest news and more. And now, it's Rich Eisen. Hour number three of the Rich Eisen Show is on the air.
Phone lines are lit. Boy, we love being on the Infinity Sports Network. And we're live at 844-204-Rich. This is the number to dial. Call us. We're going to have a conversation with you. We are guest-less in this third hour. Just for us to sit back and react to what we just saw on Saturday and Sunday.
There's no Monday Night Football. What are we going to do? Just watch television?
Talk to people? I don't know. I know TJ's going to be there. I'm going to watch Raw on Netflix tonight.
WWE debuting on Netflix. On To It Dome? On To It Dome. By the way, you can get that right here on the Roku portal. Yeah.
Okay. Are you going tonight? On To It Dome? I am going tonight, yes. So, you'll be able to report back on this week's episode of No Contest Wrestling. You and O'Shea Jackson Jr. I can.
I believe he will be there as well. O'Shea Jackson Jr. on NFL Game Day morning yesterday. Saw that. And we wound up. And we ended up playing charades with Lil Wayne. That was my job yesterday for about five minutes of my life.
I was hosting Team Lil Wayne against Team O'Shea Jr. That was great. And then you came through with the Dan Campbell. Yeah. Did you know I had to charade the tiebreaker. And I did not see it until it was time. Oh, you didn't know what it was? I mean, I could have looked at it. I just didn't. You didn't? Okay.
Because a tiebreaker never happened. So, I finally looked at it and I'm like, uh-oh, now I got to do this thing. Well, it was perfect what you did. Eating the kneecap. And so, that's all I did is I ate my kneecap. And thankfully, at age 55, two things. One, I spent New Year's Eve doing running charades with Suze and a whole bunch of people. So, I was in the swing of things.
And two was I'm a pretty flexible guy for age 55. That I was able to bite my kneecap on live television. And by the way, still be upright to host the final hour and a half of the show. A big show, too.
Week 18, NFL game in the mornings. No slouch, man. Of course. I got to say one of my favorite clues on there was Weezy doing his thing and Moots going, you are God, Zilla. The way he answered it was amazing. Because the Lil Wayne clues had to deal with O'Shea Jr. And O'Shea Jr.'s had to deal with Lil Wayne. And the funny thing was is that the first clue for O'Shea Jr. that Gerald McCoy, I believe, was charading was lasagna.
Yes. And, you know, Kurt and Cynthia Freeland and O'Shea had trouble guessing it. And they started going through, you know, pasta this, pasta that. And I'm like, and I kept saying over and over again. I'm like, don't forget they have to do, these have to do with Lil Wayne.
These are Weezy clues. And they still couldn't get it when they're saying pasta. And so finally, Cynthia goes lasagna just at the end.
And I went up to Lil Wayne. I'm like, how many pastas do you rap about? He said just one, right?
He goes, just one. I'm like, OK. I thought she pretty much ended if it's a pasta and that's the deal with him. I can tell Cynthia was on her. She was on it, man. She was on it. She got young money. I know. Yeah, because Kurt wasn't. Yeah, Freeland, she did her thing. Kurt wasn't getting young money.
Anyway, that was fun. So O'Shea Jr. By the way, he's just like, I didn't know I was playing charades. You were like, if you read your email. Well, because his team went just like what we put it in the email. He goes, but he also said that he doesn't have a team.
He's a free agent. He's funny, man. So enjoy that tonight.
Into it, though. Fantastic. 844-204 Rich, number to dial. Let's go to the phone lines. Tom in Delaware is hanging on for a while. What's up, Tom?
Yes. Hi, guys. Hey, Tom. Hey, Tom. I wanted to know what you thought of my chances of my Chargers making it into the next round.
Oh, very good. I mean, I think the Chargers going to Houston, you know, is significant. And it's a significant development because if I'm Jim Harbaugh, Tom, I don't want any piece of talking about my brother for an entire week going into Baltimore on a night game. You knew it would be a night game. You knew it would be outdoors in the cold and a night game and all week long. It's Harbaugh for, you know, and the first horrible, by the way, before they announced that they'll be playing Saturday, Saturday afternoon to you know, and but you knew that because that's the only spot the Texans ever get is the is the first up Saturday game. Thanks to the call.
Tom. Honestly, if you're Jim Harbaugh, you want to deal with it, deal with, hey, the first ever horrible. You know when that was? I was there for it.
It was a Thanksgiving night game on NFL Network in Baltimore when Jim came in with San Francisco. So here we go again. I mean, do you think he'd rather deal with that? No.
If you're Jim Harbaugh, what storylines would you prefer that if you're talking about all week or? Hey, Jim, do you have any history with CJ Stroud? I don't think anyone's going to bring that up to you, sir. You are out of your mind. Get out of here.
Interesting. Jim Hart, like you're starting to mind storylines between Chargers Texans. CJ Stroud, Jim Harbaugh, what? Come on.
John Haskins is running a ball for Jim Harbaugh and CJ Stroud's on the other side. We don't have history of that. We don't have tape of that. You want to roll tape? Yeah.
But that was in college. No, no, no. And JK Dobbins did it.
He's doing it for Jim after doing it to Jim. Come on now. I mean, I guess that's one of the first things I thought of. Well, of course. Of course.
You're sicko. That's why. Really?
Would you rather take an AFC South champion in their house indoors if you're a Los Angeles team rather than taking on the Ravens? I would say yes. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Oh, yeah.
A million times yes. Oh, yeah. And now the Steelers have got to go to Baltimore. Oh, man. Night game.
Good luck. Losing four in a row. Yeah. So Tom asked about his chances. Well, the Chargers are favored in this game.
Are they really? One other road team is favored. Want to guess who? The other road team that is favored, the Vikings over the Rams? Vikings, point and a half over the Rams.
The Chargers, two and a half over the Texans. Man, did you hear the news about an hour ago it broke that Christian Watson blew out his knee according to Ian Rappaport. And so he's not only out for the rest of the playoffs. And we had him on.
What a delightful kid, right? He was great. We had him on before the season saying, I have worked nonstop to make sure whatever injury bug keeps on cropping up with me will not recur. And he blows his knee out against Chicago.
Packers lose. Now they're going to have to go to Philadelphia without this guy. And Jordan Love hurt his elbow at one point. They took him out for precautionary reasons.
Yeah. Said he could have went back in the game if it- I'm sure of that, right? And so now here come the Packers going to Philadelphia, the two of the most dynamic free agent running backs of the 2024 class going at it against one another, Saquon and Josh Jacobs. And it's going to be on Josh Jacobs, man. He's going to have to try and run through that front seven, big time. And the Packers are going into, last year they were going in as the proverbial arriving before it's time young team that you didn't want to face because you don't know what you're getting with this team that had just gone into Detroit on Thanksgiving and punked them.
Then they lose to Tommy DeVito on a Monday night, Tommy Cutlets on a Monday night, bringing back all those coming to America memes, right? Because the team from Green Bay loses to the team from New York. The Packers from Green Bay. Right.
And so you didn't know what you're going to get. And then they want to done the Dallas Cowboys and then put the scare in the San Francisco 49ers. They're wondering if that team can show up this year right now. Certainly if Christian Watson is hurt and Jordan Love is spending even a split second in a trainer's room this week, that's going to be on Josh Jacobs and an improved defense that unfortunately will not have a Jair Alexander.
They got a tough assignment in Philly, late window on Fox of super wild card weekend. Let's go to Pamela in Detroit. That's line five, Mike. What's up, Pamela? Pamela. Hello? Yeah.
Pamela, you're on the air. Hi. I had a quick question for you. We're U of M household. And I asked my sister when you talked about the four horsemen, if Michigan State was one of the final four, which of those four could she tolerate winning everything?
And she gave me her answer. So I'm wondering of those four, which one could you tolerate as a U of M alumni? Let me bring everybody up to speed, Pamela.
First of all, thank you for taking in this show as clearly in full detail that you do. I referred to three of the final four of the college football semifinalists, Ohio State, pardon me, the Ohio State, Notre Dame, and Penn State, that all you need to do is add Michigan State and that's the four horsemen of the college football apocalypse for Michigan Wolverine fans. Which one could I most tolerate winning it all? You want me to rank them?
I can rank them. I just want to see if your answer is going to be the same as hers. Penn State. You know what? You're right. That's what she... Actually, I take that back. She initially said Michigan State because we're Michigan people. She said we could leave it in the state.
But she did initially say Penn because she went... Ohio, duh. And you know... By the way, I have the same reaction and tell your sister she's way too magnanimous to say it's got to stay in the state. No thank you.
No thank you. It may leave the state and it may wind up in central Pennsylvania as far as I'm concerned. Thank you for the call, Pamela, and say hi to your sister for me. And that is not in any way, shape, or form is inappropriate, please. Because things are getting a little crazy in our business, you may have heard. Hey, listen, honestly, Penn State, I can handle that. Yeah, because it makes me happy. I can handle it.
Right? They also haven't wanted... It makes you happy, it makes Keegan-Michael Key happy, it makes Saquon Barkley happy, it makes Micah Parsons happy, it makes James Franklin happy, you know... Couple other people. I'm one of the most important people in my academic life, Lou Prado makes him happy. I know a lot of people that I like, it makes them happy. Andy Gregg of NFL Network, we love Giants. We love Giants. Makes him happy. Adam.
Adam's a Penn State alum. I know tons of people who Ohio State wins makes happy or Notre Dame's wins makes happy. Yeah, but you don't care about that. I don't care. Don't.
Go, Andy. No. No, my magnanimity wanes. Wait, I'm gonna look that up real quick. Magnanimity. Magnanimity.
It wanes. Let's go to Mitch in Dallas, Texas. What's up, Mitch? Hey. Hey, Rich. How you doing?
How are you, Mitch? You came in with a burst, man. You came in with grit. You're like the Lions.
You came in with grit. Mitch and Rich. Hey, listen. I'm just pointing out here, and I know you know this, but four of the quarterbacks from the 2018 draft are in the playoffs.
We know who the two most successful ones are, but when you look at Mayfield and Sam Darnold who came back from difficult circumstances, I think my play is when you look into your crystal ball, I'll know for sure if I'm right or not, but my play is that the Bucks are gonna go far because they beat Detroit, they beat Philadelphia, and you know, they beat Washington who they're scheduled to play on Sunday. Yeah, so? What are you thinking?
I think this is it. I think it's the Bucks. The Bucks going to the Super Bowl is what you're saying? I think they have it. Well, I'm not gonna go with that. They have a chance.
You understand, you know, the 1983 draft with all those quarterbacks, Marino and all those guys, it took 19 years before any one of them won a Super Bowl. No, listen, I love Baker, man. I love Baker, and you know, I'm looking into my crystal ball.
It's a little hazy. Here's what I'm gonna do, Mitch. I'm gonna break out the Rich Eisen show Magic 8-Ball. Will, so what's the question I asked? What question am I asking the Magic 8-Ball?
Mitch and Dallas? Be specific. Be specific. I mean, I want to see how far you see the Bucks going.
No, no, it's not me. You asked. You asked for help with the crystal ball.
I'm sorry. So I'm turning to how far do the Bucks go as far as the Super Bowl, right? Do the Bucks make the Super Bowl? Yeah, I believe so.
I believe they can. All right. Here's the Magic 8-Ball. Mitch in Dallas wants to know, will the Bucks make the Super Bowl? And the answer is, it is certain. See? Congratulations, Mitch.
You came to the right place. That's Mitch in Dallas right here on the Rich Eisen show. Real quick though. And then we'll throw a break here, a lot of neat moments on Sunday, a lot of neat moments on Sunday, none neater than the Tampa Bay Buccaneers clinching the NFC South against the New Orleans Saints. And I understand the city of New Orleans is needing some happiness right now and a break from reality, but I'm removing all that. And the Bucks get a touchdown late to really begin to seal things against New Orleans with Bucky Irving galloping into the end zone. And now it's basically like New Orleans has a chance to, you know, put the scare in Tampa or not in any way, shape or form, but it basically looked like New Orleans was just going to end the game on offense and be done with it. And it would be a knee time, if anything at all, maybe for Tampa. And instead they turn the ball over on downs and Tampa gets the ball back. And the reason why that's important is because Mike Evans was five yards shy of his 11th straight season with a thousand yards receiving. The only other person to do that is the record holder at 11 straight seasons of a thousand yards receiving.
His name is Jerry Rice. He was pretty good. And the Bucks get the ball back and throw it to Mike Evans, 36 seconds left who gets enough yards and it's a walk-off moment because the clock runs out. It was awesome, man. And the reaction that the Bucks had and the reaction that the team had. The fans. And the fans had was something else. And a celebration sparks and it was a walk-off moment, a walk-off moment. Again, it wasn't just like stop, wave to the crowd and then he goes off and then they finish the game and they take a knee and that's it. The clock ran out. Yeah. Well, they ran off the field. That was it. Well, it didn't matter anyway because it was also enough where they didn't have to run another play.
What a moment. Why wouldn't the Saints quintuple team Mike Evans on that play? It was obvious what they were going to do. I thought about that, Chris, but here's the deal. Time's over, what's it matter? I also saw the way that they ran the play is like they had Evans run underneath two blockers in front of him to make sure they got it. I know. And I just thought, please, nobody throw a flag for offensive pass interference, please. Please can we just let this one go?
Yeah. Mike Evans after the game on his remarkable moment. I was hoping we'd get in the style because I can't pass up history. And Coach Bowles didn't want to let it pass up or Liam. So I'm happy that they had me go out there and get that because it's been hard to do for 11 straight years.
And to be tied with one of the, if not the greatest receiver of all time, it means a lot to me and my family. How do you celebrate this milestone tonight? Who asked me that? Somebody asked me that last week. Was that you asked me that?
I might go to the casino, my family, I might go just, you know, hang out, watch some games and play a little blackjack. No, I can't get where I'm going. That was awesome. And you know, I get why the Eagles sat Saquon, obviously it makes sense, but history, man, this is, this is what we watch sports for. And I was so invested in that game. I, if I, if the game wasn't on, I was refreshing the stats like, okay, he's got 59 and there's seven minutes left.
Like, oh man, is he going to get this? And then it was just amazing to see the reaction, the fans getting into it. This teammates, like I said, imagine Saquon's linemen.
Had he gotten that record, man, I get it. You don't want to get hurt, but bro, you, you only get a chance at history so many times in your life and in your career, man, I just thought it was just a, again, a walk off division clinching moment for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. What better way wind at the Buccaneers firing the cannon ships back going into the Sunday night super wild card weekend home game against the Washington commanders, by the way, a rematch in the same spot as week one, way back when Jayden Daniels was starting his professional career. Right?

We're here streaming live on the Roku Sports Channel right now. 844-204, Rich is the number to dial. Let's sneak in another phone call here. Derek in Missouri. It's been a while. Derek, congrats on your Broncos, man. Oh, Rich, what a feeling it is after nine long agonizing years, we are back in the playoffs, baby. I couldn't be more excited.
This is going to be super sweet. Regardless of what happens on Sunday against Buffalo, it's been a season of just diligence, some adversity, but nothing like what we've had the last nine years. It's awesome, Rich. I couldn't be happier. The one thing I knew that we were going to win this game yesterday, I had the feeling was when Devon Bay caught that touchdown in the back of the end zone, and McCaffrey had against the Vikings in 1996, look it up on YouTube, get a chance, but oh gosh, Rich, this is awesome. I couldn't be happier right now at Broncos country. We are back.
We are excited. And one more thing before you let me go, Rich, I got a little short story to share with you. November of 2007, Titans Broncos on a Monday night for ESPN, our reported game. I was just walking around before this game got started and I just happened to come across one Stuart Scott, and for that 30 seconds that I had my interaction with him, he kind of treated me with more respect and due diligence, and the guy, whenever I said something to him, he looked straight forward to me and made me feel important like he was to you all those years, Rich.
And he was just, for those 30 seconds, he was a very nice gentleman to me. Well, I appreciate you saying that, sharing it and remembering it, and again, congrats to your Broncos. That's Derek in Missouri. I see Sean Payton back in the playoffs, right? As a head coach there.
And the fact that they wore the Denver Broncos throwbacks and Bo Nix becomes the first rookie quarterback to take the Broncos into the playoffs since, John Elway kind of was some interesting symmetry right there. I love those old unis, man. Yeah.
At D with the Bronco coming through. Wear them all the time. Full time. Right.
Orange crush. Love it. Love it.

I have a personal like for this guy. Got to know him over the years when he was with Kansas City and then obviously interviewing him when he was with Philadelphia and won a Super Bowl with them and I thought when the Jacksonville Jaguars hired Doug Peterson that it was a brilliant hire. Certainly since he was coming in and taking over a franchise that had just gone through the Urban Meyer year, I think we all remembered what happened in the Urban Meyer year and they had Trevor Lawrence coming off of that rookie season. I mean, if Caleb Williams thought this year was nuts for him as a rookie, Trevor Lawrence's rookie season is basically holding the beer of every rookie quarterback based on the way he was born into the league with Urban Meyer as his head coach and everything that happened. So Doug Peterson needing to be an adult in the room for this kid and get him going was paramount, was crucial, is a very important time for this franchise and he was a perfect man for the job. And I just think that the Monday Nighter last year when the Jaguars entered a Monday Nighter against the Cincinnati Bengals at eight and three atop the AFC, had they won that game they would have sat atop the entire conference in the middle of Patrick Mahomes' back to back campaign.
The Jaguars had a pole position opportunity in November. And I'll never forget that night that Christian Kirk, who was the prime receiver for Trevor Lawrence, the two of them are very tight. He has some freak core injury on the opening drive.
Trevor Lawrence turns his ankle in a way that looked like his leg broke. And in between Jake Browning had a night for the Cincinnati Bengals with Joe Burrow done. And nothing worked for the Jaguars after that, nothing. And in between last season and this season, Shod Comm, the owner of the Jaguars, looking at Trent Balke's roster and the additions the Jaguars had made, declared this the best team the Jaguars have had since he was the owner. And that placed the expectation bar very high and they didn't come close to meeting it.
You could talk about injuries and you could talk about other aspects of it, but it is a results oriented business. And today Doug Peterson was let go after three seasons, 22 and 27 mark, a good guy that hopefully will get a gig somewhere if that's what he wants. But I thought it would turn out better there.
I really did. And I thought this year would turn out better and it didn't. And it's a pretty good spot. I mean, unless you believe Trevor Lawrence is overrated, it's what it comes down to.
It's really what it comes down to. I think Trevor Lawrence is really good. And in this league where you got to throw it, you got to run it at that position, very rarely do you just have a pocket passer win you some games. Although Jared Goff has proven otherwise here. They got a kid that's now been generationally enriched and it's going to be on him with his third head coach since being drafted third, who's it going to be?
Who's it going to be? Again, you've got Trevor Lawrence. You've got a new Jaguars are building a new facility for themselves, a new practice facility. They're building a whole bunch of new stuff. They got an owner who's got a ton of capital. They got an international following. They got fans there in Duval County who love the team and a, with all due respect, very winnable division, it seems. And a budding superstar wide receiver there for that quarterback.
Brian Thomas Jr. They hit on him, which may be why Trent Bulkey didn't go either. Is that Shod Khan still believes in the roster. It was just the coach that he didn't believe in anymore. So that's the Jacksonville Jaguars set up.
A very attractive gig. That's the one that I thought Belichick was hanging in for. That's the one I thought that Bill was going to be hanging in for and that he would be circling around that with a young quarterback that Josh McDaniels could come in and coach up and some defensive pieces and Bill could live there and, you know, sit on a boat when he wasn't coaching and not paying any state taxes and go into a division that he could try and set up and dominate.
With the Texans sitting there and obviously the Colts and the Titans trying to spin their wheels to find, hoping they got the right quarterback. But Bill's sitting in North Carolina now. Coaching college, unbelievable. As for the Patriots, Bill's former place of business. The coach that followed Bill Belichick is one and done. Unreal.
Go figure that. Gerard Mayo, the coach-in-waiting forever and a day it feels like. Kraft hired this guy, didn't even, I mean, and they hired him the day after Bill was out the door. Press conference with Bill, awkward, Sia.
Gerard Mayo, everybody. There wasn't going to be a search. There wasn't going to be anything.
There wasn't going to be, they didn't care that Vrabel was sitting out there or anything else. They're going to go with this guy and then this guy gets one and done. And Bob Kraft met with the media today and put it on him. This whole situation is on me.
I feel terrible for Gerard because I put him in an untenable situation. I know that he has all the tools as a head coach to be successful in this league. He just needed more time before taking the job. In the end, I'm a fan of this team first, and now I have to go out and find a coach who can guess, get us back to the playoffs and hopefully championships. They got the quarterback.
I really think they've got the quarterback. Milton. Milton. If you're going to troll, you should get the name right. That's right.
Milton. Oh, don't worry. We're going to get to his house in a second. Oh, yeah. We know my house all year.
We can take a break from my house. You got the quarterback right. I don't think there's any doubt, and I think you even get a better sense that he's the guy more than even Mac Jones' rookie season, which was terrific. Don't forget he was gridding his way through the Pro Bowl after his first year, but that's when Josh McDaniels was his OC.
Then he left to go to Vegas and yada, yada, yada. But I think you got the right guy at the quarterback spot. Zero thinking. Okay, good. Okay, so you got that. The question is, is who you're going to get? Ben Johnson says he's interested, or hold on a minute, that's Tom Pelissero. We put in a request. And Tom Pelissero is reporting that Ben Johnson is interested.
Yes. And I would be interested in the New England Patriots position as well, because you know after they've one and done the guy who has been in waiting for a long time, that they're not going to churn through another one. You know you're going to get a long, and you can ask for a five, six year, and they're going to give it. I think they would give it. And I'll just bring it up again here, I'm just wondering if Mike Vrabel meeting with the Jets on Friday, and all accounts come out of it about how well the meeting went, and it went very, very well according to Tom Pelissero, quote unquote. I'm just wondering if that had anything, if that spurred any action with Gerard Mayo.
That they let Vrabel go last year, or they didn't even twitch in his direction last year, because they had a plan, and they were keeping it in place. And what better way to tell New England fans, you know, we get you, we hear what you want. And again, he's not on the Belichick coaching tree, he's on the Bill O'Brien coaching tree, I guess, which is technically on the Belichick coaching tree. He's not a direct branch of it, but he brings back the Bill Championship era, the Patriot way, the in Mike we trust type way of going about it. He's like the perfect fit.
You know, the perfect red ass for you assholes. Yep. You know, I kind of think he's a perfect fit, but they're going to do their due diligence, and they're going to have to go through the protocols, unlike last year, and they could just hire Gerard Mayo right off the bat. So this is really their first coaching search since bouncing Pete Carroll for Bill. And even then that didn't go to, they bounced Pete because Bill wrote out his name on a cocktail napkin. Was Pete Carroll kind of the last coaching search they went on?
When Parcells made it clearly apparent, going to the Super Bowl that he's not coming back? Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's been a while.
Can we just put the bed now, the coaching waiting? When has that ever worked? It does.
Sitting here wondering. I mean, it even worked for the Jets when Belichick was a coach. Right.
Nope. Well, but those 48 hours were awesome. They were great. I'll never forget that. Time of your life.
Those 48 hours were- It was like the seven days that we had the number one pick. Very similar. So many memories.
Very similar. Those were the best days of my life. Gosh. Good way to put it, Chris.
It was the winter of 25. Good way to put it. Al and Dallas, let's take his call. Al's been on this show in various forms of terrestrial radio networks and things of that nature. Al goes way back to our original days. What's up, Al?
I'm about 10 years. Al, congrats on the G-men making the decision that you wanted them to make. What are you going to do? I mean, we're not going to go higher variable. I mean, that's not going to happen. I mean, you got to keep a little continuity.
I mean, when it goes south, it goes south. I can't believe they try to pretend like all the last four weeks are going to matter. What does it matter? Ask the Patriots how that matters. They played themselves out of the first pick in the draft. Not that that means anything, but I'm happy with it, to be honest.
I mean, Adam didn't think, Adam, by the way, who's one of the hardest working men now at the Rich Eisen show because of all the calls he's got to take, calling into his phone numbers and calling the IRS, for God's sake. But I'm happy with it. I'm happy with it. You are? Yeah.
What are we going to... What's the option? Well, the option is to go shopping and hope that you find the right one again and maybe getting the CEO coach that you want and getting the other right. But I know for a fact they really like Dable, man. He took the job.
He took the job at Chapel Hill. Yeah, I hear you. Dable is not... I mean, what else are we going to do? We've done this before. How has this worked out for us? Not good.
Right? I mean, listen, Tom Coughlin would have gotten fired under this scenario, right? His teams weren't great in the beginning. I mean, you got to give these guys a chance. And it starts with the quarterback. Go out, go get JJ McCarthy, go try to sign Sam Darnold. Go try to do Sam Darnold back in New York would be awesome, by the way, wouldn't it? Certainly if he performs as well for the Giants as he's doing for the Vikings.
But because the Giants have their own LSU wide receiver that looks pretty damn special. I hear you, Al. And thanks for the call.
Happy New Year to you. That's Alan Dallas, longtime listener of our show. I'm glad he called in because I think he's an outlier with the Giants fans. Giants fans are like, I want the house cleaned. That Saquon being let to walk to Philadelphia is an unpardonable sin. Yeah, but you can't blame the coach for that. So I guess I see Al's point. The coach didn't have the quarterback is what the owner is saying.
And so, but as you heard, one year. Can you play that one last sound bite one more time of of John Mara? It was the quickie. We were stunned, right?
We were like, whoa. Like I said, the guy who you don't hear from all the time that carries a lot more weight. Yeah. That's what he had to say. How long will it take to improve the product, John? It better not take too long, Bruce, because I've just about run out of patience.
I love that. Who's Bruce? Great question. I believe that. Is that Bruce Beck? Probably Bruce Beck. He's been here for a long time. Great.
Great question. No disrespect to whoever Bruce it is, if it's not Bruce Beck. But yeah. Oh yeah. And you notice he didn't threaten- WAN BC.
You notice he didn't threaten Bruce with maybe taking his job away from him for asking the time. Well, speaking of that, that's coming up next. Let's hit the Dallas Cowboys before we hit the road here on this Monday. 844-204-rich. The number to dial. Welcome to AutoZone.

And I'm in it to go as hard as I possibly can every day to make sure that you clones get the best possible product every single day. Day one, all in, let's freaking go. The Jim Romes show.
Go and listen on your favorite platform. Let's start with Bobby Boucher, and we'll put our own Rich Eisen show draft profile up. Boucher primarily lines up as an optimal linebacker. However, they will use him off the edge in some obvious passing situations against their own. He's very aggressive to fill and attack blockers.
Doesn't use his hands to shed, preferring to simply lower his shoulder and power through blocks. Has the range to make plays sideline to sideline. He's an outstanding blitzer, showing timing bursts and a violent finish. He will need to abandon the drop kick at the next level. I don't see him being the primary signal caller or communicator, but his play instincts are exceptional. Overall, Boucher plays a lot bigger than his size, should be an immediate impact player on day one. Wow.
Interesting. Moving on to Johnny Utah, quarterback of the Ohio State University. Utah's a wildcard in this draft, doesn't have a lot of film. Has average athleticism and an awkward three-quarter left-handed delivery. His best traits are his toughness and competitiveness.
Whoever gives up on a play, he'll fight for every yard as a runner. He's a little too high on the board for me right now. He's got to go down.
It's got to be that way. I would consider hiring after his playing days are over. He could have a long career associated with the game, either an outstanding coach, a prominent scout, or a special agent. Okay. Next up, Willie Beeman, quarterback, University of Houston.
Sure. Beeman, a little bit of a late bloomer. He's originally a seventh round pick, bounced around to four different teams. He's since settled in and emerged as a dangerous playmaker as both a passer and a runner. He's at his best when the play breaks down, using that athleticism to extend plays while keeping his eyes downfield. His immaturity is an issue, and I believe there is something to the rumors about his poor relationship with his star running back. I think it's important for his coaches to understand how to best use his skill set.
The lack of RPOs is a major mistake. He'll excel in the right system and should emerge as the best player in the league. He's my number one player. Oh. Last one. I'll be honest with you.
I'm partial. One of the greatest kick returners I've ever seen from Alabama, Forrest Gump. Gump is a dynamic kick returner for the Crimson Tide. He's made an impact in plays in every game that I've studied. He's the definition of straight line fast.
Lack to loosen this and make miss ability, but it doesn't seem to matter. He gets up to top speed immediately and destroys pursuit angles. I'd like to see him involved in the offense because I believe his speed would play well on jet sweeps, reverses, and vertical takeoff routes. The trainers told me that he's had some durability issues as a young kid, but they haven't had any issues at Alabama. The head coach worries about his ability to learn and grasp concepts and even actually referred to him as a stupid SOB when he was talking to me.
I wouldn't be ping-ponging him back and forth between positions. He'll be a good soldier, providing you surround him with a good lieutenant, and I'd be shot in the butt to draft this kid. Daniel Jeremiah.
Well done. This is why we called you, DJ. Daniel Jeremiah, everybody, on our YouTube channel.
Check it all out. Hey, those are all very... Daniel's already come up with his mock draft. One of those guys is available fourth overall for New England coming up.
Will he beat me? The Jets will take whoever you don't take. Give me Gump. Out of all of them, who would you take?
You'd take Gump? Boucher. Boucher. Boucher.
We need that edge rusher. Is that right? Yeah. He's the most hydrated of them all, too. That's true.
Absolutely. He won't ever cramp up. No cramping. Can't have that. Can't have that.
Water. Oh, my God. We're down to the playoffs, guys. I know. I am stunned.
Why? That we're here? Just every year. It goes by so quick. Is this one of those things like, oh, this month is fine. It's just the season goes by so much faster year after year, it feels like.
Done it? Time just goes by. Also, we haven't talked about this yet.
Only four new teams in the playoffs. That's less than normal. Life insurance. You know you need it. That's try E-T-H-O-S dot com. Dallas Cowboys, you're not done with you. We are not done with the Dallas Cowboys because Mike McCarthy's contract runs all the way through January 14th.
So Jerry Jones has all this time between now and then, I mean, eight days. It's like Hanukkah. It'll burn bright. It'll keep burning bright. There is less pie. It's like the gift that keeps on giving.
I wouldn't equate this with that. It'll keep burning because if anybody's interested in Mike McCarthy, if New Orleans is interested in Mike McCarthy, if the Jets are interested in Mike McCarthy up until now, until next Tuesday, they have to ask Jerry Jones for permission to speak with him. It's marvelous. So while everybody else is out there pounding the pavement and looking and maybe getting quick interviews with these guys, not the Dallas Cowboys, they're waiting and making their decision. So God bless the media for going up to Jerry Jones and asking him, what are you going to do right after the season ending loss to the Washington commanders?
Yet another plucky Dallas Cowboys performance for a team that's been eliminated and they try their hardest for Mike McCarthy. That is for sure. You cannot deny that. They are trying their hardest. Are they? They are.
You could see it. They're not giving up. They damn near won that football game. Washington could really use it. Losing the Washington never sits well. I mean, the Washington commanders, when Terry McLaurin made that catch, it looked like they won the Super Bowl, 12th win for them. But this is what Jerry Jones had to say.
Again, I don't know that I am considering making a change. That's really what I'm trying to say. I agree with you. And the complimentary verbiage or the complimentary talk about him is, I think fact.
I think I can say that about him no matter what I'm thinking or not thinking. Well, that's what Jerry had to say yesterday. I believe tomorrow might be his appearance on 105.3 The Fan, unless he doesn't speak at the end of the season.
I don't know. Mike McCarthy was asked, do you want to be there? Do you want to be the next head coach or remain the head coach is what he had to say. Of the seasons over, this question, this answer may be different. Is your first preference, Mike, to remain as the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys? I mean, absolutely. I mean, I have a lot invested here and the Cowboys have a lot invested in me. And then there's a personal side to all these decisions.
So they all point in the right direction. I'll just be clear. I'm a winner. I know how to win. I've won a championship.
I won a championship in this building. And that's who I am. So we'll see where it goes. I like that. A little attitude there from Mike.
Little Western PA. I'm a winner. Do you want to Google it? A little attitude there. Have to.
Should we Google it? So it sounds like 49 and 35 as the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, 14 plus, which is, by the way, the Jaguars just fired a guy who was minus five in three years. Yeah.
I don't know how many coaches across the league are 14 plus, plus 14. Exactly. I'm a winner.
Jerry also was asked if he was giving up the GM title. We know the answer to that. Can I answer that? Oh, baby. Let's go.
Let's go. Hit it. Just know. I bought the team.
I think the first thing that came out of my mouth, anybody here was at that press conference? Yeah. Okay. Somebody asked, did you buy this for your kids? And I said, hell no. I bought it for me and I didn't buy an investment. I bought an occupation and I bought something that I was going to do. I was 46.
I bought something I was going to do for the rest of my life. And that's what I'm doing. And so, uh, no, uh, the facts are that since I have to decide where the money spent, then you might as well cut all the bullshit out. That's who's making the call anyway.
Let me just, I will repeat for everybody here in case again, you're just new here because it's the infinity sports network that we're on on our first day or, you know, um, just to repeat for those who hear this and go, it doesn't compute. You should get a general manager like everybody else and you can make your decisions as the owner. Why do you also have to be the general manager? It's somebody else that's the way everybody else in the NFL does it essentially. And the answer I give again, Jerry Jones runs the Cowboys like you run your fantasy team. I don't know of a single person who plays fantasy football, who hires a general manager to run their draft and run the waiver wire for him or her.
I don't know a single soul. There's not a single soul that goes, Oh, I'll do that office fantasy party or fantasy playoff or a fantasy draft. I'll be in that league. Uh, and, and, and that's my general manager. I'm just the owner of the team.
No, he owns it. He picks the players, he's on the waiver wire, he's doing it all. That's the way he runs the Dallas Cowboys. The only thing though is he runs Dallas Cowboys in a very unique way. And by that, I mean, uh, kind of weird because you know, the Cowboys, we're going to sign the quarterback and signed a wide receiver and you know, they're going to sign the pass rusher and history. And in the very end, it looks like he's going to resign the coach too, but he let them coach the entire year without a contract.
That's next. And he let them go through the entire year like that. And they had a year like this and he's going to resign them anyway. Why not just sign them beforehand?
It's cheaper, it's easier, and it's also a lot better for your employees, but that's Jerry Jones. And that wraps up this edition of the Rich Eisen show on the infinity sports network. We'll see a Tuesday back on Roku in a sec. Actor Michael Rosenbaum, you know, some of the most talented people in the business, and now he's getting the inside story. Let's get inside of Heather Graham. I can't look at like boogie nights and think that you are a nerd. Johnny Knoxville. You think you're going to do another Jackass movie? What do your kids want?
Dad's not going to do that. You got to be careful how you choose your heroes. Hear from some of the most fascinating people in pop culture today. Danny Trejo. You're a legend. Do you know you're a legend? You can't be a legend having this much fun. The inside of you podcast follow and listen on your favorite platform.
