It's also an overreaction Monday on a Tuesday. So much to talk about as well as the hall of fame the football pro football hall of fame. Making a little bit of news we'll hit on that.
The National Football League has suspended Aziz Alshair the linebacker who four-armed a sliding Trevor Lawrence into a golf carton off the field. He's been suspended three games so there's lots to talk about with you 844-204. Rich number to dial now that I've set the table let's welcome others to the table. Good to see you Christopher Brockman. How are you sir?
What's up man? It's hot chocolate season. Just throwing that out there. I had no idea.
Yeah it's hot chocolate season. Do you do you spell SZN? Yes. Okay.
All caps. Good to see you Jason Feller. How are you sir? I'm good. Good.
Okay and that's TJ Jefferson. The candle is lit sir. How are you?
Good to see you. Three games? That's a lot.
That is a lot. We'll talk about that later on the program. Hey let's talk about that Monday Night Football game. Just when you thought maybe Browns and Broncos wouldn't have the juice to it, wouldn't have the interest level to it, wouldn't have the entertainment value to it and they're struggling to put up points in the first half of this game as well and then all of a sudden second quarter hits, third quarter hits, fourth quarter hits and then you realize oh it's a James Winston game.
What was I thinking? And the Broncos get Bo Nix out there. He didn't do very much in the first half. Just a couple rushing touchdowns for the Denver Broncos and the Broncos come up with the W in this football game in which James Winston is flinging around for damn near 500 yards. Jerry Judy back in the place where he was once before he and Sean Payton didn't see eye to eye and he had one of the greatest revenge games in the history of wide receiving. Nick Chubb scoring that receiving touchdown in this game. David Njoku with two touchdowns in this game and the Denver Broncos defense that was averaging giving up less than 17 points per game was in was being threatened with a big time 40 burger and that's when the Denver Broncos started making plays on defense and Bo Nix started making plays on offense and there's no pictures in the standings but the Denver Broncos are eight and five through 13 weeks heading into their bye week seventh overall in the American football conference and this game that they came up with last night was beyond huge. If they had lost it they would have been seven and six heading into their bye after which the also bi-weeking Indianapolis Colts are coming to town and a victory for them in that game would have put them in the playoff spot that they are vying for because they would add the same record as Denver and they would have had the tie break and instead Denver goes into its bye with three straight wins eight and five with some cushion when Anthony Richardson and the Colts and Jonathan Taylor come and visit them in week 15 and it's a certain toughness that toughness as the 10-point win over Vegas in Las Vegas proved to Sean Payton that this team last year would have el-foldoed in a situation like that in Las Vegas and came out with the win anyway you could say the same thing last night as the defense was on its heels Jerry Judy wide ass open all night long and they came up with not one but two pick sixes and an interception that was almost a third pick six to end the game Sean Payton had this to say about his eight and five team holy cow um you know there's some some games go maybe in a direction you think they're going to go obviously that one went in a much different direction obviously when we go back and look at that tape we're going to look at a lot of things defensively that we would have done differently we have to um and yet you know we had two interceptions for touchdowns a third interception um I told him in the locker room you know uh look at it wasn't pretty and yet um in the end you know we did what we had to do especially late it wasn't pretty but in the end we did what we had to do especially late also describes what Sean Payton did with Russell Wilson and that has to inform everything we're talking about with the Denver Broncos on this day entering their week 14 by at eight and five one and a half games clear of the team that's right in front of them right I mean right behind them at six and seven two two games clear pardon me right in front of them in week 15 having the pole position on a playoff spot at eight and five with a rookie quarterback Bo Nix had two interceptions on Monday Night Football but it was his first two interceptions that he's had in weeks and it's only his second multiple interception game of the season he had one last in week two when the Broncos started 0-2 and it looked like it was going to be a long season for Denver with their rookie quarterback fresh off of letting Russell Wilson walk to the tune of the largest dead cap hit in the history of the National Football League and all of us saying good luck to Sean Payton and the Denver Broncos doing that and having to get high quality production out of a rookie quarterback we were all assuming they would be drafting even though they were drafting 12th overall in the upcoming draft they might not be getting a high quality rookie quarterback certainly with Caleb and Jayden Daniels and Jorake Maie going at the top of this draft and good luck getting that you've got it you have to get that normally it's like we'll be patient with the rookie quarterback but when you are still on your salary cap paying out top of the market franchise quarterback money and flushing it down the drain just to no longer have Russell Wilson there and you need to get the quality play out of your rookie quarterback now in his first iteration of his contract and start making the playoffs now good luck doing that with a bunch of guys that they drafted that nobody thought could actually do anything like Franklin and Vele and Estime they've nailed it you have to give up your flowers to Sean Payton and the Denver Broncos for having the plan the vision the gumption the cojones to do what they did and it's working because Bo Nix right now man he's got the most passing touchdowns of the entire rookie class right now more than Daniels more than Caleb more than Drake May 17 of them guys killing it that throw that he made to Mims to Marvin Mims Jr when he was deep in his own end deep with his goal line right behind him and at only what like 115 yards passing to that point in the game and he just cut it loose with the grim reaper coming around the edge and he threw that dart to Marvin Mims Jr a 93-yard score flipped the script on the entire game it was the longest Denver touchdown pass since 2008 you want to guess who it was 2008 oh you saw it no you saw this stat you you gave me look like you you see the answer to the test I thought it was Tebow but that no no 2008 yeah it's Cutler Jay Cutler yeah Cutler to Eddie Royal Eddie Royal yeah it's tied for the fourth longest touchdown in Broncos history and Nix is just like okay maybe he doesn't know what he shouldn't know but at this point in time I think he does he's got these many starts in college and now under his belt here well he's 35 years old I know he took his helmet off and he he looked like a grizzled veteran last night when he's being interviewed after the game by Lisa Salters almost not fair sixth rookie quarterback in the Super Bowl era to win each of his first two prime time starts got to give it up to the Denver Broncos got to sure eight and five going to the buy and it sure looks like they're gonna make the playoffs right now because even if they lose to the Colts there's still a game in front of them right and then they're at the Chargers at Cincinnati home for Kansas City they're not easy but they've been through it all man they've they've they've won games in boat racing teams like they did to New Orleans essentially ended Dennis Allen's season what they did to the Jets and Dennis Allen's coaching tenure in in New Orleans what they did to the Jets we found out that tight game where they defensively they smothered Aaron Rodgers they ended Robert Salas coaching tenure too they boat raced Atlanta and they outlasted Vegas and Cleveland got to give it out that week 18 game is going to be really special and something against Kansas City because Kansas City probably not going to rest guys because they're still going to be fighting for the one seed maybe so it's going to be fun down the stretch and got to give it up to Sean Payton it's working 100% now then Cleveland Browns is Jamis Winston the most entertaining player in the National Football League you got to wonder he's in the if you got to name your top five in the top entertaining entertaining means the games are always exciting he's making every throw he's throwing it to the other team right the other team's returning in for touchdowns then he's just forgetting about it and throwing another touchdown or like after Mims had his 93-yarder he just throws one to Jerry Judy for a touchdown for 70-plus yards right back he threw a pick six let him right down the field after that he just like erases the tape and just goes right back out there like nothing happened and it's fun I know for Browns fans it's a little bit more of a roller coaster ride and Saints fans recall that and certainly Bucks fans recall that too yeah but Browns fans wouldn't you rather have this than what you were having yeah come on man like hell yeah I love Jamis I'm just saying you know and and he's just unbelievable 34 for 58 497 passing yards wow four passing touchdowns or you want to say six of them because he threw two to the other team almost another one at the end it was almost another pick six at the end that should go on your stats and the 497 passing yards is a Browns franchise record for passing yards in a game and suddenly Jerry Judy's come Jerry Judy had the biggest revenge game in the history of revenge games 235 yards for Judy is the most by any player playing against the team he used to play for beating Terrell Owens 213 against the Niners for the Cowboys Jerry Rice last night you know the last time because Elijah Moore at 111 receiving yards it's only the second time since the Browns came back into being that they had two receivers have 100 yard games on the same day the only other one was Andre Davis and Quincy Morgan in 2003 geez for real two touchdowns for Njoku yeah the offense is clicking and then he has this to say about the pick sixes after the game in times like this you know this is it's it's an opportunity to continue to glorify the Lord even through the toughest circumstances I know I'm better than this I know I'm like I'm just praying for the Lord to deliver me from pick sixes like that's just that's not me like a phenomenal game offense do some great things but I mess it up I mean I I don't mean to laugh here because he's so earnest he means this he means every last word of it no doubt you know and and and that's what you you see his pregame speeches to the team you hear his his earnestness and and on occasion his joy and in this case his depression just wearing it all out there being his being his authentic self while throwing into windows he shouldn't throw and throwing for 500 yards damn near and giving you entertaining games where he's on the highest time then he's in the lowest lows and throwing into windows that he shouldn't throw into and he's played for multiple teams doing it over and over again for multiple teams and being entertaining in the process and I thought to myself he's the new Ryan Fitzpatrick of the National Football League yeah hey you're kind of right where he's it could be the most entertaining game and the greatest offensive performance you could see and then a total you know what cutting interception and then he comes right back and just throws a 90-yard touchdown pass on you and then he's his authentic self and he's captivating it's Ryan Fitzpatrick all over again and I I understand a lot of folks think that I'm going low-hanging fruit whenever I mentioned Deshaun Watson in this team but last year we saw Joe Flacco come off the couch and win comeback player of the year with what he did in the Kevin Stefanski offense that Deshaun Watson struggled to do had bursts of aha moments but struggled to do the offense was difficult to watch most of the time and then an injury knocks him out for the rest of the season forcing the Browns to find another quarterback and they did who showed the way then they show him the door they welcome in Jamis Winston and the same damn thing happens again I don't and honestly just to bring it all full circle look across the field the other team made a massive trade with massive amounts of draft capital going out the door and massive amounts of actual capital designated to this player who they decided when it's all said and done to show him the door and welcome in a new era and they're eight and five and they just beat the team that needs to find the same damn gumption if I may say so and if anybody thinks I'm going through low hanging fruit right there well let this hold that beer Browns came up just short trying to win a football game on national television for people in Ohio oh baby I'm just living my best life trying to be my own authentic self another year of this huh oh it's just day two I'm on fire I am mea culpa that's low-hanging fruit at least that might be the last time you didn't see it coming we'll take a break I think so you're trying to be my own authentic self I'm on fire I am mea culpa that's low-hanging fruit at least that might be the last time you didn't see game time and another thing actually I literally have another thing based on the point that I was just making about how Flacco did it last year and Jamis Winston's doing it this year which is me the it being showing how the Browns offense can work with a quarterback who either is more comfortable in the system or runs the system that Stefanski and Kevin Dorsey are are scheming up Jamis Winston 1680 passing yards in his first five starts with the Browns third most of any quarterback in his first five starts with a team since 1950. You know his fifth on the list Flacco from last year no way yep first on the list is Drew Bledso who threw for 1762 yards in his first five starts as a bill in 2002 oh wow after that his after that his cousin's first five starts as a viking yep in fourth place is Trent Green in his first five starts as a ram in 2000 yeah Trent Green was awesome yeah you know what I mean I think we forget how good that he was and uh sixth how about this one Cam Newton's first five games as a pro career yeah yeah well he started with back-to-back 400 1610 yards yeah after that is Stafford 1587 yards as a ram and then the aforementioned Ryan Fitzpatrick with which team though that's the question you want to guess his first five 1564 yards in his first five games as a Texan no tj I was going to say tech i'll uh dolphin no I was gonna say dolphin bill bucks bucks day oh it's like 17 to pick there's a lot of games but it started in 2017 and lasted all the way to the next year back on the Rich Eisen Show here at the Rich Eisen Show uh radio network sitting at the Rich Eisen Show desk furnished by Grainger with supplies and solutions for every industry Grainger has the right product for you call clickgranger.com or just stop by stopping by right here on the Rich Eisen Show it's been a while so we're thrilled to have back here the uh creator of Pro Football Talk you see him on Sunday Night Football you see him also on Peacock and you also see him where all books are sold as well we'll talk about the book in time for the holidays Mike Florio good to see you sir how you been good good glad to be back off the Pay No Mind list with Tommy DeVito and Spider I was starting to wonder I ran into you and had a nice visit at Arrowhead Stadium the night of the first game of the regular season and over the past few weeks I've been thinking was it something I said was it something I did never never it's an oversight and one that I'm glad that uh has been uh addressed I had no idea I'm sorry you have you have you have many guests you have much to get to you're the man I accept my spot low on the oh my god five guys said no that's not it that's not it it's definitely not seven guys said no actually kind of farther down on the list than you went with the top passing yards through five starts for the team no listen man I just wanted to get through all of that but good to see you Mike good to see you man good to see you I'm just having fun by the way it's all it's all it's all good and thrilled to have you here um and we'll talk about on our way home in a moment let's let's hit um on the suspension of Aziz Al-Shaheer three games what can you tell us about the NFL's thinking on this front Mike well I can't tell you anything because there's no formula there's no specific guideline and when you look at the announcement that was sent today by the NFL several different things are mentioned that Al-Shaheer did from his history of similar fouls to the actual hit on Trevor Lawrence that devastating clearly illegal hit Trevor Lawrence wasn't sliding late and who in their right mind is going to slide late and risk taking a concussion all for 15 yards of field position also mentioned was the brawl that started after the hit and Al-Shaheer's engagement in it and then the second fight as he's leaving the field so they never say you're suspended x amount of time for this and y amount of time for that it's just here's everything you did wrong that we don't like three game suspension and I'd prefer a system that is a little more specific than that but I know based upon the years of following this it really is at times kind of like a spin of the wheel that has different factors including PR how will it look if we overshoot and it gets overturned are we picking the right number to send the right message and precedent really isn't as important as it would be in other contexts which means if you're a guy who might do the things that Al-Shaheer did you really don't have the kind of clarity as to what the punishment's going to be you know you're going to get in trouble but you don't know what the punishment's going to be the punishment's going to be spin the wheel and see where it lands and remember this there's an appeal process for former players one of them will handle it and they'll either throw it out uphold it or reduce it and we never quite know what the standards are for that either well Jordy Nelson is one of the players Kevin Molloy one of the former players who can appeal it Ramon Foster the big ragu long time guard for the Steelers and and then there's Derek Brooks who I would love for him to hear this to be honest with you I mean he's the guy that you know played the position where he's coming across from the middle and and would would have the at least I would think significant history of trying to figure out whether someone's sliding on time or not and Nick Casario man I don't know if you heard this because it only happened in the last 15 minutes he held a press conference in in Houston called the suspension unfair embarrassing and bs and use the full word and just went off on the NFL about the three-game suspension because the next time we see Al Shahir is going to be week 18 if this is upheld he will be home for Christmas Mike I'm stunned that Nick Casario would go there I don't know whether or not it's the equivalent of criticizing officiating to call out the league's internal disciplinary process but we know if a team executive says anything about officiating they're running the risk of a fine and just from the standpoint of even though it's a technically independent process where the league and the union select the individuals pay the individuals I don't think you want to do anything to upset the apple cart while there's still a process to be done and it's better to just stand silent and see what happens and I think it's also a bold move to be defiant about this because you know it when you see it Al Shahir comes in hot forearm to the head of Trevor Lawrence we expect professional athletes to adjust their target positioning when someone's just caught a pass and not hit them in the head this is easy just put the brakes on roll to the side get away from the guy he goes in with that forearm right to the head it almost looks like he was aiming and he got him so I don't I I I'll stipulate there's a broader issue about quarterbacks doing the okey-doke from time to time to try to freeze defenders either on the sideline or we haven't seen the fake slide specifically in the NFL like we saw it with Kenny Pickett when he was at Pitt but this was I think as blatant as it gets and as clear as it gets and I think it takes some guts on a variety of levels to suggest that a three-game suspension given everything that happened is BS. Mike Florio here on the Rich Eisen show reacting in real time to what's going on with the suspension of a crucial member of the Texans defense as the Texans are are trying to secure a playoff spot here on the Rich Eisen show Mike Florio so the hot seats around the NFL right now where do you think the the hottest seat resides Mike? I thought it was Dallas until Jerry Jones started popping off about how it wouldn't be crazy for Mike McCarthy to get an extension I mean that seat in my view was so hot that it starts to cool off you get used to it like Bart Simpson once asked his sunday school teacher about hell is it like a hot bathtub that at some point you just get used to it right that's where I thought McCarthy was I thought he was in the hell of a hot bathtub and it was just a matter of time before Jerry pulled the plug and drained the thing so I would assume he's still in that territory and there are guys who right now it's kind of on the fence and it could go either way it just depends upon how things play out Antonio Pierce I feel like it's a foregone conclusion the game management on Friday was horrendous we got so caught up in that botched snap and was it an illegal shift was it a false start was it a live ball we forget about the fact that Antonio Pierce said his objective in that moment was to have Aiden O'Connell throw the ball away and burn off four or five more seconds dude all you had to do was wait as long as you wanted to spike the ball on the prior play again when kids play Madden and they understand how to manage these game situations as well as anyone when when an NFL head coach fails to manage a critical game situation it becomes even more glaring so I think Pierce is one where it's again I think becoming a foregone conclusion and there's plenty of chatter already that Mike Vrabel is going to end up there so we'll see and Rich one thing that I dusted off today talking about the Bears job and I'll be curious for your thoughts on this sure you know we know about the usual suspects when it's time to line up coaching candidates coordinators who have never been head coaches fired head coaches who are available college coaches those are the primary three one thing that I don't think happens enough is the John Gruden model where you call up a team and you say are you interested in releasing your coach and what would the compensation be and I've mentioned both Kyle Shanahan and John Harbaugh today as guys that maybe the Bears should call about and yes it's going to cost you something by way of draft pick compensation but like if you would get Shanahan and I feel like Shanahan and the 49ers are getting close to the point where they would benefit mutually from a fresh start if you can get Shanahan and join him at the hip with Caleb Williams are you kidding me so I hope that in this coming cycle we begin to least entertain and the owners will entertain the possibility of trying to do one of these Gruden style trades because I think getting a proven coach who's currently employed as a head coach that's a pretty safe way to go and sometimes a guy just needs a fresh start what gives you the impression that the Niners and Kyle Shanahan uh would have a mutual separation like that well there's nothing specific but you just look at the situation it's been since 2017 they've kind of been annually banging their their head against the door trying to break it down this year just feels kind of weird it feels like it's coming to an end from the standpoint of the nucleus of players that they've had there and you never know what's really going on behind the scenes and I mentioned the 49ers in part because it was 10 years ago or so when they had Jim Harbaugh going into what was the fourth year of his tenure there the first three years had all been very successful NFC Championship Super Bowl and NFC Championship and we reported at the time and it was accurate it was confirmed by the Browns in a roundabout way that the 49ers were close to trading Jim Harbaugh to the Cleveland Browns so you never know at the top of the organization whether or not there's a sense that maybe it's time for a change but after the 49ers lost to the Chiefs one of the first things I thought is at some point I feel like Kyle Shanahan needs an Andy Reid reset where I've exhausted every opportunity with the team that I started my coaching career with it's time to go to a new place and I know Reid got fired he landed on his feet in Kansas City and the rest is history but I feel like at some point Shanahan needs that so if I'm the Bears like remember the year that people laughed at Washington because they called every team to see if their starting quarterback was available in trade including the Chiefs like the phone call is free make the phone call and see if there's a chance and if I'm John Harbaugh though I wouldn't want any piece of that you know I mean I'm in a place where I can spend my entire career as a head coach in one place that that's a legacy thing why would I want to leave Lamar for a kid that I'm hoping is the next Lamar why would I want to go to a front office that I'm you know I'm not sure if that structure is the right thing for me when I know the structure is here you know Beshati as opposed to the McCaskey family I don't know why John would be up for a mutual separation like that Mike. Well there have been moments over the past six or seven years where it felt like maybe the train was pulling into the station for Harbaugh in Baltimore and it always works out he's always stayed put you know there was a time the Notre Dame job was open and sources close to me told me that that was something Harbaugh was eyeing then so even though he's been there continuously since 2008 which is amazing just one year short of Tomlin's time with the Steelers there's always a chance it just gets to the point where it's time Tomlin was kind of there last year the Steelers were never going to fire him but there was incredible belief that Tomlin once he got through last season had to make a decision he made it quickly and he's rejuvenated and sometimes it's good to just take a step back and say is this what I need to be doing is this where I need to be do I need to be somewhere else and and again I'm not saying Harbaugh wants out I'm not saying the Ravens want him out I'm not saying Shanahan wants out or the 49ers wanted to go all I'm saying is if you're the Bears and you're putting your list together and this is free stuff Chicago you don't have to hire the 33rd team PFT is doing it for free just call the 49ers and call the Ravens and see if they're interested. Great broadside on Woody Johnson man good one good one didn't see that one coming you caught me with that right cross Mike you caught me with that one and also I saw your post last night that you know you were breaking news to me here that Woody Johnson's not going to be the ambassador of the UK like he was the last time Trump was in office so does that mean Woody's staying and and how does that affect everything not that you're you've got your ear to the ground on on Trump's appointments but if Woody's staying stateside that that changes the the equation here doesn't it there's been a sense ever since Woody got back in with both feet in support of the president-elect that there would be something and the thinking was and I don't think he's ever committed to anything and that's one of the primary rules of politics you never expressly say what it is you want because then you're regarded as a failure if you don't get it but there was a sense that he'd like to go back to the UK I've heard other buzz that it will be maybe something else but the UK door is closed and look we know how much perception is part of politics if Woody Johnson was going to get something else he probably would have liked that to be announced before the UK position is announced because it creates the widespread perception that he got passed over for anything and even if he gets something today there was that 24-hour period where it's like hey you know Woody Woody went to bat for the former president and he got nothing out of it so I you know some some Jets fans are hoping that he goes again and I can tell you this is 100 true not to be confused with you know the other crap that I just knew but but when Woody Johnson got the UK gig the last time there were Jets competitors who were like oh no no because now his brother's going to come in and he's going to he's going to finally figure out how to run that team well I mean there's a Rogers question there's a GM question there's a coaching question you know and um and and it's just um it's all up in the air there Mike Florio here on the Rich Eisen show how does Belichick loom over this entire process Mike Belichick cracks me up because we know everything he does is strategic and I have viewed his umpteen media platforms I mean I can't even keep him straight I don't think he can keep him straight but every time he says something I look at it through the lens of how does this advance his objectives and it's two categories settling scores with the likes of the Jets and the Patriots or laying the foundation for whatever his next move is going to be commentary on the Jaguars culture oh maybe he wants that job Buccaneers praising Jason Light maybe he wants that job if it comes open I'm not saying it will but I think he's going to constantly be there he's in a great position Rich because he can tamper his butt off he can talk to players under contract with other teams right now he can talk to coaches under contract with other teams right now he can line up everything until he's employed by a team he can do anything he wants he can be on the phone with Aaron Rodgers every night saying hey Aaron and it would be more grumbling and nonsensical words but hey Aaron next year if you want to play keep me in mind or this is where I think I may end up what do you think about that he can do anything he can go full out planning for next year until he has that job talking to players talking to coaches and I can only expect he's doing it because he's always shown he's highly strategic and everything is done with his goal whatever his goal is in mind hmm so you think Rodgers is going to play next year you really think I don't know I don't know and I don't think he knows but there are people who love to connect dots in league circles and I wish I could take credit for this this is something that someone mentioned to me and I started poking around and it's not crazy when you look at things Rodgers has said about Belichick and you look at things Belichick has said about Rodgers as recently as yesterday on his let's go podcast he was talking about how it's quite possible Rodgers will have another good year in him that it's injury driven that he might still be able to play at a high level and there are people that think that depending upon where Belichick goes obviously he goes to Jacksonville or Dallas you can't bring in Aaron Rodgers you're bound to the contract that's there with the far younger quarterback but there are some destinations I'd say the Raiders the Giants and the Saints are the three that stand out where you can have Belichick and you can have Rodgers and wouldn't the Giants be perfect the ultimate middle finger to woody by Rodgers by Belichick and by John Mara if that all opens up because obviously they'd be looking for a quarterback if it did Mike Florio here on the Rich Eisen show before I send you on your way let's stop let's stuff a stocking here on our way home unless you get it in the ebook form of 299 print 999 and you're splitting the proceeds uh pretty uh pretty nicely here tell me about this mike yeah and this is a book that I wrote in the month of December in 2021 and it just kind of came to me and I love writing fiction because it's kind of like a real-life Ouija board where you put your fingers on the keys and it just goes and I have no idea where it's going to take me and this one took me to a place that I thought ended up in a really good story the folks at Kirkus Reviews who who are known to be uh very skeptical to say the least about everything like Mikey with life cereal they loved it so I'll take that wherever I can get it and I posted on the website a couple of years ago for free one day at a time like an advent calendar last year made it available to to sell with proceeds for a local charity here this year I decided to go Michael Phelps Foundation in honor of my friend Jay Glaser Enfield Public Schools for Peter King who's been doing great work raising money for their sports programs 299 for the ebook you can't you can't you can't find anything cheaper than 299 and 999 for the book it's great you got to buy gifts for people this is easy I you know for me I don't mind it's not about money it's about what am I going to get I got to sit down and think of things hey this is easy you got 10 people you need to buy gifts for boom buy 10 of these and they'll like it they'll read it and they'll like it and it really has good messages in it rich about reconciliation with family about redemption about forgiving yourself for things that can't be redeemed I didn't mean it to have that it's just you're telling a story but then when it's done you look back and it's like you know there's some good lessons in here and I've gotten great feedback from people who have read it who have taken to heart the stuff that's in there and incorporated that into their own lives so that's very rewarding but again I didn't set out to do it I just wanted to tell a good Christmas story it's awesome and a story of reconciliation and redemption I think is your appearance here on the Rich Eisen show today Mike there was nothing to reconcile who said it I have no words I am without speech I'm thrilled I'm thrilled that you're here I look forward to your next one very shortly everybody should get on our way home it's filled with plangent emotion and hang dog humor I believe from Kirkus review that's what they said I had no idea what that meant I had to look up plangent and hang dog because and I'm nervous like are they saying this is I almost said the other word are they saying this is crap like I don't know I really didn't know I guess it's good it's very good uh everybody check it out and get it it goes to some great causes thanks for the time Mike appreciate it thanks rich good seeing you that's Mike Florio check him out uh PFT live on Peacock which you can get right here on the Roku platform as well as NBC this awesome new show that you can see right here on the roku portal with paramount plus for the showtime plan the agency premiered with a couple of episodes out there available for streaming and on demand as well it's a you're gonna get hooked so it's a it's a it's an excellent show great cast he's about to come out here now then last week we decided to uh do our what's soon to be what our new thanksgiving week tradition in a way yeah we've been doing it for a couple years now uh we had a caller from long island once upon a time call in and wanted to talk about the giants and and said this right here on the program you got that talking playoffs or what we talking playoffs or what he said and uh the answer was or what that year it was and we knew it too yeah we knew it it's not gonna be playoffs it's or what so um um i decided to call my shot and say the playoffs were gonna be the rams the bucks and the falcons and the or what was going to wind up being washington because the loss to atlanta in week 17 when kirk cousins comes in to town would be the differentiator because i know i'm not just throwing darts at a board i actually went through a win-loss record for each of the seven teams that we thought would be vying for the final three playoff spots in the game of musical chairs in the nfc and even though in my win-loss win-loss that i've written down here in this book even though i got all seven teams results seattle san francisco rams cardinals tampa atlanta washington even though i got them all correct i'm going to make a change oh i i don't like the falcons right now bad vibes and even though i said the falcons would lose this game to the chargers and would then lose this game in minnesota i had them sweeping out to go 10 and 7 and even though i had washington beating tennessee and i have washington beating the the uh saints in new orleans coming off their by i had them losing two of their final three home for philly home for atlanta i had them losing those two i gotta tell you seeing what the commanders did to tennessee and how how really calm and smooth and healthy jayden daniels looked healthy in the way he was moving and throwing and decision making and i get you it's the titans the yada yada yada titans won in houston the week before and the way that he found mclaurin twice zack ertz once hit the end zone himself and the way that the falcons looked to the char against the chargers i i think tampa's going to win the division the rams are going to still win their division i'm not i'm not going to hop off of that and i and i i think washington's going to make it why off i do think so what do you think i'm hopping off even though i got the entire win loss correct i had seattle winning i had san francisco losing the rams winning the cardinals losing tampa winning atlanta losing in washington winning i nailed it i'm i'm gonna hop off the eye test was just too jarring the falcons have lost three in a row around the body washington hits their by feeling great about themselves they're going to come back healthier and jayden daniels man don't you trust him better with this offense than you see with even though bijan is such a difference maker and bijan is really come on he he's playing fantastic i don't trust kirk cousins at all i said last week we asked about washington and i said i wasn't worried about them they started off so well so you you agree with my mulligan here yeah i'm worried about the running back situation i know brian robinson did bounce back but ecore being out is kind of a big deal well maybe he comes back after the body back and i'd say a week i mean he did get he got he got away yeah he got away bucks have a very favorable schedule aside from the charger game we talked about that when the when the schedule came out that tampa is going to finish with two division games at home right and they're there they've got the raiders now coming in this week yeah they should pound the raiders they're coming out here to take on the chargers they're at dallas and then they're home for carolina which is nobody's homecoming anymore and then home for new orleans which is going to have the u-haul backed up no you win three or four of those nine and eight might get it done i was right about the bucks and i the rams is obviously still a risky play but i like the commanders i made kalpa i really wanted carolina to to win over the weekend just so i could say an overreaction maybe today that they'd be still alive for the division week 18 carolina you're talking about yeah if they were four and eight they'd be sneaky alive in the division still no you got to cough it up to believe bryce young's looked adam thelen balling out he's so good he's so good i like tj when thelen hits the gritty it still makes me laugh yeah i mean like the feeling and mike evans made some incredible catches in that game evan's touchdown was sick yeah i mean the bucks have got it man yeah the bucks have got it buggy airving has just been a monster what a great pick right he's coming on strong great draft pick yeah and you know and rashad white's no slouch no i know they got maybe the best two kind of one two punch in the run game going right now and baker is just baker man the way he got them in position for that game tying overtime forcing field goal win it in the extra period uh i i i i've just the falcons they're gonna go to minnesota and if kerco doesn't show up with the chains man they might be in second place under 500 and even though i said that would happen i had them winning out their final four games at vegas home for the giants at washington home for carolina i don't know man i think washington is i i need to flip that result right now if i had to if the eye test is telling me to flip the result but this is the only time i'm getting my mulligan i'm using it here jeffrey wright i'm sure to agree with me as a commander fan from the agency coming out you
