Not available in all states. This is the Rich Eisen Show. Touchdown for the King. Burrow back to throw. Guns at deep downfield. Chases open. 70 yards.
Live from the BMW Welt in Munich, Germany. Touchdown Ravens. Rashad Bateman on the receiving end.
It's incomplete. Oh, what a wild way to end it tonight. Earlier on the show, NFL Network insider Tom Pellicero. Coming up, Falcons head coach Raheem Morris. Plus, latest news and more. And now, it's Rich Eisen.
That's right. We're back with the Rich Eisen Show. Special coverage in Munich, Germany at BMW Welt. Raising the bar for EVs. The new all-electric BMW i5 leads with responsive engineering and seamless driving technology. There's electric and then there's this baby.
The ultimate electric driving machine. I want to take that home. You and everybody.
And I will tell you right now, I don't think we are. I think it's got to stay. I know, but it's nice to wish.
Oh my God. It's just beautiful looking in person if you're watching on the Roku Sports Channel. It is as beautiful in person as it looks on TV. Oh, by the way, I'm talking about myself. Please, it's the Rich Eisen Show.
Let's be straight up. It's the Rich Iron Show here in Germany. That's what Eisen means in Germany. I didn't know that. He said that. I didn't know that. And by the way, you mentioned how beautiful it looks.
Do you see a number of tweets that people are telling us that exact same thing? Is that right? The jet from Detroit was like the studio's really popping. Awesome. I love it. We're having a great time here. We're having a great week. We've got a special show on Saturday as well.
All throughout the day on the Roku Sports Channel here from Munich, Germany. We just wrapped up our number one with these gents telling us how they went out to an Irish pub at two in the morning, or at least one of you did, and then TJ actually left his hotel room in the middle of the morning to join them. My goodness gracious. Like I was escaping somebody. And I was catching up on my rest so I could meet with the Carolina Panthers today because I'm a lead pipe wielding professional and I've got two jobs here in Germany. Rich, in our defense, we also are professionals. We knew you had to go to sleep.
Yes. We had to watch the game. That's true. And if you up to date with us.
Well, I was able to watch as much of it as I could today and then catch up on some of the highlights as well between the Ravens and the Bengals. We opened the show talking about how Lamar Jackson is your front runner for MVP again. And I know a lot of folks out there who vote for this award get fatigued. Well, he won it last year. Let's look at somebody else that Jared Goff might be able to guide to do it. And I understand that the Ravens and the Lions don't have the same record. The Lions have a much better record right now and might wind up with a better record at the end of the day. But unless Lamar Jackson slows down from doing what he's doing, passer rating and fourth quarter dynamite performances like last night and being so difficult to sack and running two point conversions in the end zone and avoiding the rush to go 20 yards behind the line of scrimmage to get it all the way down to the one yard line and have obviously Derrick Henry to help out.
I understand all that. But, you know, we started the show by talking about the Ravens. Let's talk about the Bengals here a little bit, because we would be talking about Joe Burrow for most valuable player in this league if they had the same record as the Ravens right now and if they had swept the Ravens this year instead of it being the other way around, instead of them being 0-3 to start the season. If they somehow had come out of the box a little stronger, had they somehow realized, hey, maybe we should have paid Jamar Chase early on and get him into training camp right away as opposed to just letting him play out the season and putting that chip on his shoulder that he took off his shoulder and smacked the Ravens over the head twice with.
But it wasn't enough, again, that we would be talking about Joe Burrow in that regard and maybe even Jamar Chase for Offensive Player of the Year in that regard. But the Bengals are a little bit more of a flawed team than the Ravens. Defensively, they are a team that can get got, can be had, even though they've got the sack leader in Trey Hendrickson right up front. And the difference between the Ravens, the Bengals having a shot at this division and not can be summed up in the two losses to the Ravens where they got more than enough from Joe Burrow and got more than enough from Jamar Chase. But there were just enough mistakes here and there, whether it was the interception that Burrow threw in the first opportunity, whether it was that missed field goal in overtime, despite getting a gift fumble from Lamar Jackson in overtime of that game and not cashing that in, having Derrick Henry run it right down the field and Justin Tucker making the bunny to win that early regular season game. If they had gotten that field goal, if they had not had the ball ripped out of Chase Brown's hand last night, if they were able to make a defensive stop in the fourth quarter that they could not make, if they were able to prevent the Ravens from scoring touchdowns on their last four possessions of the game, they would be, instead of four and six, six and four, and the Ravens, instead of being seven and three, would be five and five. They'd be a 500 team.
And this conversation would be a completely different conversation than the one that we're having right now, but it's not a sliding doors situation. And a quarterback who in his two games against the Ravens, these stats are crazy, threw for 820 yards with nine touchdowns and one interception and a passer rating of 121.4. And a wide receiver who has just set the record for most receiving yards against a single opponent in the history of the NFL that had been standing since Art Powell did it for the Oakland Raiders against the Houston Oilers back in 1963.
That's the record that Jamar Chase broke last night with his remarkable evening of 264 receiving yards, 212 of them in the second half to give him 457 yards against the Ravens in the two games this year. That's the team that is left sending their MVP type quarterback to the podium to be left wondering what more blood could be taken from the stone. You look at how we're playing and then you look at Trey Hendrickson, how he's playing. Yeah, it's a tough pill to swallow, but we've had our opportunities. Obviously, it's tough when you feel like you're playing well enough to win and you're not, but there's always more to do. No answers, basically. There's no answers for it. I'll be frustrated saying.
I feel for the guy, man. Like you said, if records were flipped, even if they win one of those games, maybe don't lose week one, New England, they're six and four. We're still talking about Joe for MVP. He's got 24 touchdowns and only four interceptions.
That is unbelievable. 2700 yards. He's just lighting it up. Can't catch a break. I don't have a problem with the two point conversion attempt at all.
I think that's where you should go for it. You're on the road. The defense can't stop them. Lamar's clearly on a heater like we've talked about. The two previous coaches who had this opportunity, had this question placed in front of them. Gerard Mayo in Tennessee last week and even more recently, Todd Bowles in Kansas City last Monday night. Kick the extra point, went to overtime, lost the game. And this team, again, just to reiterate, Lamar Jackson's unstoppability right now. This team was getting lit up like the proverbial can of gas when the Ravens scored 28 in the second half after scoring just seven in their first. And they scored a touchdown in their final four possessions of the game and came back from a 14 point deficit in so doing. And you respond on occasion when the Ravens are hitting you back in the mouth with an 80 yard touchdown pass to Jamar Chase, pardon me, a 70 yard touchdown pass to Jamar Chase and just one play to basically tie the game up at 28. And then you watch Lamar march the players down the field, his team on an 11 play, 70 yard drive that took up damn near four minutes of time to score with a minute 49 to go where Rashad Bateman had a touchdown grab. And you marched down the field and you have an opportunity to go for two because you've just stunned them again with what that throw to Jamar Chase to put it in the end zone. Just showed you how on point Joe Burrow was at that point in time. Feet down over two guys. I don't even know how the hell he saw him other than the fact he's just like, oh, that's number one. I'm just going to throw it to him and he's going to catch it.
Yes, you should go for two. And there were a couple of penalties that could have been called on that two point conversion. Mike Kasicki sure looked like he was held and it sure looked like Joe Burrow took one in the chops. Now you could have thrown the flag right there. It wasn't. And I guess you got to play better than the rest ref or what have you. But I don't I don't mind the the call. I thought it was an excellent try. I think it's Zach Taylor also showing I've got the confidence to do it. I've got the confidence in my team to do it. Of course, he's not going to sit here and say I don't have the confidence in my defense to stop, you know, because you did leave enough time left on the clock for them to march down the field close enough for Justin Tucker to take one swipe of the leg to avoid overtime as well.
But I I don't mind that try at all. I think that's when you need to go for a two point conversion. We talked about this on on our show on Tuesday when you guys had already left. Yeah.
There are different times for two point conversions. There are times when you need have to or want to. What did you say about Todd Bowles? I said you need to do it. Yeah. Yeah.
I wish Jerrod Mayo would have done it. Or you have to do it. How about that? You have to do it.
I think you have to do it. You just stunned him at the end of the game. You just stunned the Kansas City Chiefs in their house at the end of the game with a stone's drive. You have just got them on their heels.
They might even be pulling down on their on their, you know, hanging out on their knees a little bit. Hit him one more time. And certainly certainly in New England and in in Tennessee they they had Drake May running around for like damn near as long as Jayden Daniels did on his Hail Mary. Yeah. And that was, you know, kind of a Hail Mary too. He flipped it up in the air. I don't even know how the hell that was a completed pass.
No idea. But Tennessee's defense had just been running around for 10 seconds as much as long as as everyone else was. Hit him with the two point conversion there. And I think, again, there's different times to go for a two point conversion. You want to do it. You need to do it.
You have to do it. You want to do it is those times where I I don't get it. Where you have an opportunity to be down seven with eight, nine minutes to go and you go for two because you have an opportunity to score again and you know you got to score again instead of tying, you win it. So I want to go for two. That way I'll know if I need to go for two later on in the game or you need to go for two when you're down 16 and you score.
You need to need to go. So it's still make it a one score game. The half twos are obviously when you score and you have to go for two to tie the game at the very end.
I would put in this category you have to go for two instead of going into overtime on the road. I think you have to do it and I give Zach Taylor all the kudos in the world for doing it. I think we have the coach after the game.
This is what he had to say on that front. I mean there's a time situation where there's probably a little too you know over I can't get into specifics but there's a chance maybe you get a three and I get the ball back if you just tied it and you know kick a game winning field goal but didn't feel like we were going to get the ball again. Right? Didn't feel like you were going to get the ball again. No no no and they weren't going to stop them either. This goes all the way back to week one. I mean Isaiah Likley's big toe is in bounds. John Harrod said they were going for two.
Yeah. So that's the guy on the other side of the field who does take these chances as well and is willing to put his team in those positions. So you know you got to see Cincinnati you know like credit to them.
Hats off. They went for it in a tough road game like that. Division game they have to have. You got you got to take those chances. My only problem with the play. Jamar Chase is on fire.
He's single covered. I would have loved to just seen Joe try to get the ball to chase. He was your playmaker. He was hot.
You know he was Steph in the fourth. Let's try to get him. Yeah jump ball some some type of one-on-one scenario to chase.
That was the only problem I had. Well interestingly enough our crack staff and crew has Jamar Chase's response to that ready. Uh yeah I mean I always feel like that as a receiver you should want the ball yes but you know sometimes Joe don't see it you know. What did you think of the decision to go for two? Is that what you expected?
Say it again. What did you think of the decision to go for two? Is that what you expected? Yeah hell yeah I agree 100 percent. Were you open on the two-point conversion?
Yeah I'm always open. I love this guy. I mean. Are we gonna pay him now? This is now the good time to pay him. Let me say this.
What are we waiting for? Most receiving touchdowns of 60 or more yards. Jamar Chase before the age of 25 leads the entire list in the history of the National Football League with 12 now. Deshaun Jackson, Randy Moss. Chicago's Harlan Hill had 10.
Okay. Odell Beckham Jr. had nine. Randy Moss and Tyreek Hill with seven apiece. Randy had all his against the Cowboys I think. Yeah right. I mean the one though where you know obviously that 70 yarder was kind of stunning because the Ravens had just taken the lead 28-21 and then boom you know right back here comes Jamar Chase right off the bat. The one though that that really got me to actually audibly say something while it was happening was the 67 yarder where he caught it over the middle. Yeah. And I think everybody just if you have a second you know take a look at that highlight.
He catches it over the middle. There are four. I saw four. There might be a fifth at the very top right of your screen.
I know yeah. There were five I'll say what you said then five Ravens defenders. He ran through them past them and gone. Gone. He has a gear that few others have and I don't know man and and by the way they did this without T Higgins last night too. There I'm not going to quit on him.
How about that? I'm just still not going to quit on this team. You know we talked about Joe Burrow. The record was flip. He'd be MVP. Record flip we're talking about Jamar Chase his offensive player of the year. He has almost 1,000 yards. 10 touchdowns. Leads the NFL in touchdowns. Uh yards per catch.
Dude's on fire. All right call call up their schedule and then we'll we'll throw it a break because Raheem Morris of the Falcons. Raheem Morris of the Falcons is about to join us. Um let me tell you that you take a look at the Cincinnati schedule. Next up is at the Chargers on a Sunday night. So they're going to be in front of the whole country again.
That's not easy. The Chargers defense is really yeah really good. Then they're on a buy.
Let's get them all healthy. Home for Pittsburgh at Dallas on a Monday night which by the way has an asterisk next to it which means ESPN could flex out of that. ESPN and ABC have the opportunity to flex. I don't know what they'd be able to flex into but Cincinnati at Dallas that's a winnable game right there for them. Then they're at Tennessee. That's winnable. They're home for Cleveland on a Thursday night.
Enough's enough with this whole they have our number thing okay. Then they're they're uh taking on Denver on a week um 17 Saturday and then they're at Pittsburgh. Tell me why they can't run the table.
They really needed that last night. That would have been four to five wins. 500. I can see I see five wins okay for sure. The Pittsburgh gives them nine.
Yeah. That gives them nine right. That's not enough. In the AFC that's not enough. What if they beat Denver? That Denver's one of them. They beat Denver in the Chargers.
I like that. They beat both of them then they'll I think they'll make it. Right. Winning the games they should. Winning in Dallas. Winning in Tennessee. Winning against Cleveland.
Right. Splitting with the Steelers. And if and if right so then you give them those wins against teams that they'd be able to cash in a tie break against. I'm not I can't I can't I might wind up dying on this hill here with the Bengals. I just can't quit them.
I had them winning this division to begin with. Yeah. And they're just they're just they're right there man. They're right there in every game.
Yeah. And when a push comes to shove and you're the two seed in the AFC let's say you are Buffalo. You are Houston. You are the winner of the AFC North. You want to see Cincinnati walking into your building in a wildcard weekend? I don't think so. No you don't. What if the two seed winds up being Baltimore?
And we see part three here. They will be a battle royale amongst the television partners of the National Football League to see who gets that game. And we're talking about a team that's four and six right now. I believe I believe in Cincinnati to this to and get T Higgins back let's go. And by the way whatever you pay core is it'll be uh pay Chase right. Or you what do you have the the you go and you get a deal with Chase right right and make like you some sort of plaza. Chase Plaza at Pay Core Stadium. Something.
At Pay Joe Stadium Chase Plaza because it's common. What are we waiting for? We can't avoid it.
You're not going to avoid it unless you want to let them walk and then there's 31 other teams that are willing to to pay Chase. Holy cow. Come to New England. New England's nice jar. Let's take a break. The head coach of the Atlanta Falcons prior to taking on the New Orleans Saints.
They are sitting atop the NFC South at six and three. Raheem Morris will join us next here on the Rich Eisen Show from Germany. Let's talk LinkedIn people and small business owning. I'm a small business owner.

Back here inside our cozy surroundings at the home of BMW the worldwide headquarters they're making uh they make the cars here you know right over there you know that right i didn't know i don't think i actually knew that told me i didn't am i wrong i was told they make the cars over there yes yes wow okay yeah they make them and then you you you're driving back to america no you drive i i was told that if you buy a car here you drive it off the lot and you go right on the autobahn with it and then push it man zero to 220 real quick no better way to uh they they drive fast that's that ultimate driving machine they just drive fast in all europe i'll never forget they are yeah dude redfoot i drove on our honeymoon in italy okay we rented a car we drove from uh the northern part of the country down to rome and then from rome all the way down to the southern part any rate uh on the a1 the auto strata there in in in italy um i i saw people's front bumpers in my rear view mirror over and over and over again like they were right i mean they're they don't care it's like you're supposed to move you're supposed to move yeah you know i was on the autobahn once back i'd say about 12 years ago with ashtin i was not with ashtin by the way by the way expecting it i thought i was ready i thought i had struck gold there no no but no no but uh autobahn ashtin my taxi broke down on the side of the autobahn oh my god yeah why were you on a taxi in the autobahn because that's how i was getting back to my hotel okay you know and uh he had his car broke down you know should i say it it was a it was a car that wasn't a bmw okay very good maybe we shouldn't clap for the destruction of the competition i'm just saying and we're we're we're all there is no i in bmw but being on the side of that that's not true literally coming back here we're back on the rich isin show radio network i'm sitting at the rich isin show desk furnished by granger with supplies and solutions for every industry granger has the right product for you call click ranger.com or just stop by and look who stopped by the head coach of the atlanta falcons kind enough to join us two days before he's going to be in the super dome by the way there's a big game in the super dome later on in february that i'm sure he's got his eyes on maybe he's measuring for the drapes there uh getting ready to take on the saints the nfc north leading atlanta falcons head coach raheem morris joining us here on our show live in germany how are you coach i'm doing great rich man how are you doing uh you're over in germany i am indeed i am here i am jet lagged if it's just to be honest you asked how i'm doing i don't know i don't know what time it is normally my show starts at 9 a.m pacific time it's a night time show here so it's all good man you look amazing you look you look off you look awesome so uh thank you just take the compliment you look great on tv i appreciate that and by the way you guys look awesome you look great on tv too from what i've been seeing certainly of lately uh so what uh how would you term the last month for your team here coach you know it was just the growth mindset of the guys they've getting they've gotten better and better every opportunity we've gotten out there in the grass and every time we go out to play in a different stadium or our own stadium it's all about the development of our football team our guys our culture how we want to do our things our process and the guys have done such a great job of grasping that and i love it would you say i mean is it fair to say when you can pinpoint moments where things started to click or things started to move or uh get in any way shape or form springboarded would you could you could you go back to that final drive of the week two monday nighter in philadelphia is that uh is that a fair one or you have another one in mind maybe you know it's hard to say when you're talking about the entirety of the team you know you can use that as a springboard for the offense and some of the things they were doing that game and you know moving the ball in two minutes has really got us to get to a better state you know you've had some moments on special teams we've been able to go out and win games doing some things over there in the following week you've been able to score a touchdown on special teams and be able to really move the chains that way but i think that the totality of our best game was probably last week putting it all together without pass rush with our offense without special teams making the plays and i thought the control of the game and us being able to go out and really dictate terms was a big part for us and um did you feel that cousins needed to just get back in the flow obviously he's he's not a spring chicken and he's coming back from an achilles injury here he he's just been absolutely crushing it he looks to be in a zone right now coach you know we all forget rich that he came up a pretty significant injury we've had guys come off those injuries before and we talked about aaron rogers this year and we talked about cam and some of the other guys that all achilles guys and those things take a little bit of time and then to watch him go out there and really get progressively better since pishburg and really for me throughout the whole process of going through ota days getting into training camp feeling more comfortable being clear to do everything and going through the process is just almost kind of what i expected you know um obviously when you go out that first game everybody wants you at tip-top shape and right away being able to go out there and perform at your highest level is not the case and to watch them get better and better every week has really been uh something that's really for us just in a good mode and a good mood for all of us and i imagine uh the biggest surprise from kirk cousins for you then is him quoting bankroll fresh prior to a game right which does that surprise you in any way shape or form trying to fire up it doesn't it really it really doesn't you know if you know the guy i talked about him yesterday in front of the team i talked about early in the week he's angry at everybody just because he's got a new play and he's got a bunch of new plays he's trying to learn he has a scully on and then he turns into this jew this joyful happy guy on a thursday and then by the time friday comes around he's all angry again and then he turns into who we call chains now on sunday so for him to turn into chains on sunday is kind of normal so we we've all grown used to that so when he comes out on the field you're like okay change is here is that you you that's when you realize everything's going to work out for the it is no doubt when i asked him to break the team down he's referred to as chains on sunday on wednesday it's kirk and we go about our business i love it raheem morris here on the rich isin show listen you've you've been in a situation before in previous moments being an interim head coach in the middle of a season and now you're taking on one right now how do you even prepare for a team that has just fired their coach um and you you pretty much don't know what might be tweaked or might be changed right now with the saints i'd imagine raheem right it's something you obviously got to address with your football team but you better go about your process you better go about the way you move through every single week and get ready to play a team that's going to come in here with a renewed sense of urgency and ready to come out here and play for their coach and ready to play for their livelihood so to speak you know i talked about it with our local media that you know everybody kind of making the tv show nowadays but the reality of it is everybody there is going to have a new sense of urgency a renewed energy um come out ready to play obviously we did it here in atlanta personally i did it with these guys and it's it's not fun but you do get a little new energy you do get a boost and you go out and you're ready to play and we better be ready um because this team's gonna come in here division rival um somebody we're very familiar with ready to play this is uh absolutely the most underrated rivalry in the nfl 100 i know obviously packers and bears or cowboys and obviously the eagles are playing this weekend a lot of uh us folk in the media talk about that a little bit more than this one this is this is serious business when these two teams get over there rich you know to be flat out honest we don't like them they don't like us and it's no secrets when it comes to those things you know it went down even when i wasn't here last year to those guys scoring on their own so to speak on the last play the game so for us man it is not a well-liked team by us now we got so many similarities um styles of play coaches uh front office people going from the saints to our organization and vice versa so uh yeah we don't like each other it's just it's just pretty clean and pretty clear that is you know we definitely do respect each other but we don't like each other yeah it's pretty cool that you say something like that i don't think that's bulletin board material they feel the same way about you you might as well just talk about it it's right out there you know it is well documented cam jordan i believe has he's still sacking matt ryan today um and it is well documented you know like i i got so much respect for some of their players that when you're able to say these things this is not coming from a a place of negativity it's coming from real life experiences on the grass playing against each other and going out there ready to play a really tough fought game do you outwardly say hey when we go into the stadium look around because we're coming back here knowing the super bowl's there do you say something like that coach you know honestly rich you gotta you gotta look at this thing from step by step and you gotta get ready to go and i think the ultimate reality is if you don't have big dreams you're not dreaming big enough and we all have that dream and a lot of us came into the season with the dreams of winning the super bowl and a few was right now put ourselves in position to actually go out there and obtain those goals and we're one of those few and we got to keep going out there and doing our business and we're not going to run from the fear of dreaming big we're going to absolutely attack it the way we want to do with the outrun the south the way we want to do with winning our division the way we want to do it with getting into the playoffs and then anything can happen and once you do that man you know that's the plan we want to be to go back to the stadium twice yeah i mean for sure you do and and you're we take a large step by going five and oh in division you will have already swept uh the bucks and beating the saints you'd have swept them and one more game left with carolina who i'm seeing here in munich so obviously that is something that's a step forward um a couple of young players i want to ask you about before i let you go on with the rest of your friday bijan robinson just strikes me as it's it's a surface scratch with him at this point in time it looks like there's still more that we haven't seen yet from him and he's been terrific i'm wondering what you would say from your perspective coach richy he's such a talented player he's such a great human he is the definition of what a falcon is um i talked about that last week in my press conference you know he only has comparables with the guys that we're about to play in ak he has comparables with christian mccaffrey who's coming back off injury has comparables with say quan barkley and some of the guys like that they have similar type stats they've done throughout the year and he is so special to even be putting that category with those guys it's what a great job our front office and the people before me to go out and really identify the human the player the guy you want in your football team and he is absolutely going out there getting really comfortable and what we do and how we do it so if you compare him to say quan does that mean he also has a backwards leap in his playbook do we has one of them have you seen that coach let me tell you like it wouldn't shock me to see him do anything you know those kind of guys have that athleticism say quan is one of the best athletes i've seen in football and and watching bijan all the way back to texas he's got a lot of athleticism in that body so you just never know um he wants to pull out a backwards jump i prefer he wouldn't but never know these instinctual players i'm i'm sure and then last one for you here again i'm seeing bryce young uh here on sunday for this game he's now back from having been benched anthony richardson fourth overall selection benched and i know these aren't your tables this is where i'm going with it you've got a rookie quarterback sitting there uh second string and in this league we're talking about developing guys and having the time and reps and snaps to develop guys i mean how do you develop somebody who is as talented and potentially crucially important to your team in michael panics jr going through a season where you're preparing for the new orleans saints and trying to win a super bowl at the same time how how do you pull something like that off in this day and age rich i was very fortunate when we got the job here and we sat down um all of us together and we came up with our plan to go out there and get our quarterback for right now and the guy that we think can lead us to a super bowl and we got a chance to go get kirk and he's done a lot of really good things and he's leading that way and then we're able to get a guy that we felt like can be able to take over the reins whenever we would end this thing and he'd be able to go right in there and be able to keep us in the point where we don't have to go through quarterback purgatory ever again and he's done such a great job of learning from kirk he's done such a great job of mirroring kirk he's done such a great job and when called upon in practice to go execute he's done all of those things he's done everything we've asked he's been a model citizen he's been a student of the game just about everything you can do when it comes to developing and maturing him and i know it was highly criticized but it was the way we wanted to go about making sure we can develop our quarterback in-house and be ready to go whenever that time comes and the only person that sets that time frame will be kirk and as long as he continues to play at the high level that he's playing we won't have to worry about that and neither will the world well you guys are crushing it and i really appreciate you taking the time a couple days before a game for joining us here in my show in germany coach appreciate him hey good luck out there in germany man and get some sleep thanks you got it that's rahim morris the head coach of the current leaders of the nfc south atlanta falcons here on the rich isin show do you think he heard that you guys stayed up till six in the morning is he was he saying get some sleep to you guys i think everybody knows that at this point yeah yeah because we're we're we're well it's out there now rahim gets it of all the pre-season off-season pre-season narratives pre-season narratives well that one's been toast down right which one beats the atlanta falcons drafted the wrong guy because it was going to mess with kirk cousin's success narrative which one beats that for narrative that turned out to be nothing because there's six and three and i'm i will fully raise my hand as a mea culpa because i i was the one on the draft set when it happened saying what are they doing and i i i'm not alone i wasn't alone on the draft set that night when they drafted michael penix jr seventh overall and instead of getting a piece that could help you win now for a team that did appear to be all in right now with kirk cousins and why didn't they go ahead and get the best defensive player on the board right why didn't they go ahead and even get maybe roma dunsay you want to add one more offensive weapon why didn't they do any of that and i also wasn't the only one on that draft set or certainly in the nfl media that was saying well the first minute cousins stubs his toe in atlanta they don't have years of watching this guy play for them in their mind's eye this guy cousins didn't have any of that emotional equity built up in that fan base of having performed for years in front of them either there would be cries for get the rookie in there yeah what are we doing with this guy that was the conversation in drumbeat throughout the entire spring into the summer right into the second week of the season after the falcons lost their opener yeah against pittsburgh you look terrible and it wasn't about penix's talent no one ever questioned that it was just oh no it was never about it's the right fit why are you yeah why are you doing that that was the number one narrative of the off season that has been debunked or it's the it's number one of the top off season narratives debunked by this point in time because rich and not to interrupt michael penix i don't think i've even heard his name mentioned in well it's because five six weeks it's because cousins came up with that if you look to put the falcon schedule up it's because cousins came up with that huge comeback drive in philadelphia in week two to make them one and one instead of oh and two going into that game against kansas city on a sunday night and it's because cousins did beat the saints in week four and you could say so what that's when the saints were just two weeks removed right from whipping up on the cowboys to start two and oh yeah exactly and they did on a thursday night against tampa get kirk cousins throwing for 500 yards yeah they did you know get a break here and there from tampa as well and they did beat carolina instead of stubbing their toe against a team that you didn't think that they would but they could they did lose to seattle that's a kind of a head scratcher it'll happen but at this point in time after beating tampa and taking care of dallas the falcons are four and oh and division they win this game they'll be five and oh and division that's a wrap don't you think yeah and so we're not sitting here saying well penix is looming or cousins is gonna struggle or is struggling and they're calling for penix so you know i'm not just saying this because also the coaches as i said not many coaches will zoom in two days before a game certainly a day before they're getting on a plane i'm not just saying that i'm i'm raising my hand and saying hey i didn't get it i thought it was going to come back to haunt them in two ways one one of these rookies they could have had is somebody that they definitely needed and i haven't looked defensively and said boy they they they're missing you know a dallas turner or latu or anything like that certainly you know for a team that's six and three and i'd be like well hey if cousins stumbles they're going to be calling for the rookie and cousins really hasn't stumbled he's been terrific he's been terrific now they are one you know one of the few lowest teams in the league in terms of sacks and quarterback pressures so yeah sure that has been a an issue over the first half of the year i just say that because i've been watching falcons games right home uh plus i mean we want to be accurate i'm sitting here saying that you know they they i guess they could be their leading sack guy grady jarrett only has two and a half sacks a guy they traded for in judon matthew judon has one and a half sacks it has not been great but it hasn't been something that's really bit them and cost them games they know they've won five out of six gay they're on fire they're on a couple they're in a two-game roadie before a buy at new orleans at denver and get tripped up there but if they don't they're eight and three going into a buy five and oh in division couldn't be better right and then they come out of their buy home for the chargers that'll be interesting as you know jim harbaugh was apparently on their radar screen it's a fun game jim wound up in the good spot at minnesota at vegas on a monday night i don't know if that can get flexed out of no offense to atlanta but yeah home for the giants at washington on a saturday oh that's a big one and then home for carolina i think they win the division i think they host a playoff game and then we'll see what's up right i mean you're looking at 12 and five and if they're 12 and five there there'll be a three seed against an nfc north runner-up right or an nfc west runner-up nfc north nfc west yeah or maybe the eagles that would be incredible maybe the cooper rush speaking of yeah nice one speaking of the eagles um nick serian had an interesting press conference moment today tom pelicero alluded to it earlier um it involves jaylen hertz's injury report status don't miss it that's next this is the rich isin show on a what's more likely friday from germany let's talk all riley this um it's like not like a garage but kind of like a warehouse garage it definitely smelled like it was awesome but it was on the actual land that bmw originally had started and what's in there everything everything from their first motorcycles all the way up until the latest models something that's going to come out in 2050 all the race cars in between it was what's the one with the tap there's one with the tap in there was a beer tap and they put it in the trunk but you can remove it but well i mean there's a beer tap and a trunk of a bmw yeah and where the and where the engine and where the engine is it's the uh the pressurized gas system to operate the tap operate and then you put the beer in the back seat the keg goes in the back seat and it's a whole thing they're a little bit more relaxed here with their rules about having alcohol in the car yeah well i mean if the thing's in the trunk you can't like tap the the keg while you're driving while you're driving yeah yeah no but so do they do they tailgated byron munich games they even know what a tailgate is that's a good anybody any no no no they're shaking their heads no okay well because that would be the perfect hurts tj jefferson is coming for your team yeah yes let's do it the way that he has been playing of late has been lights out yeah it's been terrific ever since they came off the bye in week five this team hasn't lost a game once upon a time two and two the eagles have maybe make sure here i'm getting this right one two three four games in a row there's six and two six and two coming for your dallas cowboy not bad and jaylen hurts has just been on point he's doing it all and um he was on the um um injury report designated having a rest day oh yeah that's necessary we need that i mean we all need a rest day i'm just saying cooper rush isn't taking a rest day you know well he might be soon but at any rate the reason why i bring this up is because it was brought up to uh nick seriani when he mentioned he was missing practice for another reason hit it we haven't really seen jaylen be held back for load management before what was behind that on wednesday yeah you know he's dealing with the it was on the injury report dealing with the with the ankle and uh you know just making sure we're cautious with everything what's wrong with the ankle he wasn't i'm sorry jaylen hurts it was it was an ankle what's that it was the rest that was the rest yeah okay yeah sorry i thought you're talking about something else all right he's dealing with an ankle problem now rest is there a can you call up the injury report for the eagles i'm actually looking for is there anybody else on the injury report with an ankle injury i'm seeing there's anyone named jaylen on the team is there any is there anyone i'm gonna go to wednesday smarts there's a jaylen carter so maybe he thought is he with an ankle injury oh i mean there's a big difference between the two no uh no you want to look it up not makai beckton dealing with an angle okay was fred mertz on the list maybe that was it by the way that's an i love lucy reference wow i'm going way back i'm just right rhymes with fred mertz with an ankle that one that that episode where lucy had some explaining to do ania smith had an ankle injury on wednesday's oh my gosh oops makai beckton that's it this league man it's unbelievable what was that oh no i thought can we can we run that sound again because it reads it reads great i got i got the original uh i got the original copy sent to me from the nfl network news desk but you you just you just don't hear this this is great i've always seen jaylen be held back for load management before what was behind that on wednesday yeah you know he's dealing with the it was on the injury report dealing with the with the ankle and uh you know just making sure we're cautious with everything what's that it was the rest that was the rest yeah yeah sorry i thought you're talking about something else all right now rest also did he say precautious did he make up a word oh is he saying we're just being precautious yeah by the way he did make up a word there's no such word as precautious cautious but but but uh i think that's what he's saying i think that's what he's saying but but but i i i think it sounds like it should be a word right it's a pretty good idea i like it because if you're doing something for precautionary reasons you're being precautious you're being precautious cautious or is he being precocious i thought he meant precocious i'm sorry yeah wednesday's uh eagles injury report had uh damante smith nolan smith uh not practicing seguin barkley was on there for rest jaylen hurts rest aj brown knee no no no ankles no ankles for those guys his hurts back from his rest period it's a precautionary it's a precocious dude i'm more here's here's what i'm i'm just trying to help you tj i'm trying to help you trying to help you i'm trying to help you man you already helped me i'm in music baby i understand i'm just trying to help more help can you give me because i'm i'm uh i'm genuinely concerned for your uh your team let me hold what let's let's do this right here for him cowboys final record i mean right now they're three and five what do they do the rest of the way run the table home for philly that mean i'll tell you home for houston that's three and seven right at washington is that three and eight when giants four and eight you want to give them one four and eight cincinnati four and nine yep at carolina five and nine all right home for tampa loss loss at philadelphia loss home for washington win loss that's five and thirteen yeah i mean five and twelve wait you counted my wins and losses were a bit different five and twelve seven and ten at best geez man and no deck deck's not coming back i'm just wanting to tell you this tj in the most friendly and um here we go no no in in in the most friendly and concerning terms take precaution be be precautious be precautious take precautious take precautious and get yourself some rest rich tape your rests i'm ready take your rests man it's going to be arrested because the ankle of the season is about to go where the sun don't shine i have a feeling hour three coming up there is a chance that jaywin hurts is fine right unless he he's fine unless he's in a walking boot tweak his ankle he's not gonna walk walking boot on the plane even if he did even if he did need a rest for an ankle injury okay but these but these these injury reports are not supposed to be trifled with like the league takes this i mean seriously they make it fine for maybe he basically admitted he's got an ankle issue i don't know he was just heard no no he's talking about something he's talking about somebody else chris fred murks anybody else rhymes with hurts on the team anybody nope okay smart i don't have it i i'm i'm i'm out of options when i when i start making i love i love lucy the cowboys are also out of options so yeah brother five and twelve is a distinct possibility right now nah yes it's a distinct possibility be prepared seven and ten is a distinct possibility seven and ten yeah at best but again you guys know i like i'm focusing on my team stop it keep going back to the same well right here and i we understand you you coach kids and you love children but still that sounded kind of weird the way you said that i don't know no no i coach kids i understand this guy over there all right so our number three of our program we've got uh what's more likely you know what we're also going to do is a mid-season awards we're going to give out awards that mean absolutely nothing well to us well to us it might mean something but to you we hope it means something significant and by the way phone calls as well at 844-204-rich number to Tom wrapping up this show from germany in the next hour hey it's rich eisen really an overreaction in his perfect fodder for a show like this one i appreciate you coming out of the gate hot come react or overreact with us overreaction monday wherever you listen it's game over man you
