The Rich Eisen Show. Live from the Rich Eisen Show studio in Los Angeles. Today's guests, NFL network analyst, Daniel Jeremiah, ESPN MLB insider, Jeff Passan. And now it's Rich Eisen. This edition of the Rich Eisen Show. Oh my goodness.

It's one of those days where three hours is not going to be enough. It will not be enough, but it shall suffice here on the Rich Eisen Show on the Roku Sports Channel. This Rich Eisen Show terrestrial radio affiliate, Sirius XM Odyssey. Tune in. We say hello to our podcast listeners, everybody who listens to all of our podcasts. What the football, no contest, wrestling the Jim Jackson Show. And later on today, after all three hours, Chris Brockman and I stay after class for overreaction Monday and men.

Is there a ton to react to or overreact to? And certainly what's going on in the World Series is the Yankees and the Dodgers shift to the Bronx, New York, where the Dodgers take a two games to none lead into that game and Shoy Ohtani with either a left shoulder injury that will keep him out or we'll still have him in the lineup. Jeff Passan of the worldwide leader in sports will join us top of our number three to fill us in on all of that. My compadre from the NFL network and the man who sits in the Los Angeles Chargers broadcast booth radio wise, Daniel Jeremiah will be joining us the top of our number two to react to everything that we just saw in, in the national football league and week number eight. And good to see you over there.

Christopher Brockman. I believe I've set the table. What's going on here, Rich. Haven't had a lot of these, but victory Monday. Good to see you. I know we'll talk about that for the Patriots. Good to see you, DJ Mikey Diaz. And when you finally got rid of Carl Anthony towns, flowers, DJ Jefferson, it was time. It was, well, I got to tell you, you might get some more.

The Cowboys performed on Sunday night and the way the Eagles performed in Cincinnati, there may be more flowers here than a funeral very shortly. We'll be all right. We'll see how that works with Carl Anthony towns.

He hasn't texted me, so I don't know what his mood is. I think he's just now locked in on the next season. Yeah, I hope so. I hope he pays more attention to basketball goals. We will see that.

Yeah. At any rate Dallas Cowboys are a mediocre football team. People will just straight up, straight up mediocre football team.

They are average at best. And I'm being nice. You're right. I am being right.

By saying that I'm nice. I'm right. Well, I mean, no, listen, man, mediocre football team. And, and in a way, in a way, kind of like the Jets where there are a collection of parts looking for a sum. And when you go out on a Sunday night into a spot where a team is ripe for the pick and just like you, and they are banged up just like you potentially even more banged up than you. And they've been banging you up, knocking you out of the playoffs, knocking you down pegs in measuring stick games in the regular season. And you go up and you go in there and you start knocking people around.

And Chris Collins worth is in full. Here's a guy mode when he, when you're starting to throw punches, I guess, or have a little bit of a gumption in the middle of a special teams fight. And you're, you're knocking people off the ball and Zeke Elliott's actually, you know, saying feed me. And he scores a touchdown on the ground and you're winning. And then you come out of the locker room and you no-show in the third quarter. Once again, by the way, you want to talk about Cowboy Bugaboos this year, the home, we all understand the home fielded disadvantage that they have is, is one thing where this game's a wrap by the first quarter that we've seen Cowboys have been outscored 61 to 19 in the third quarter this year.

So if you're not starting well at home in the first half, and then you're showing a little bit more fight on the road, and then you start getting outscored after halftime, which is again, that's when those are the, those are the metrics that fans can point to and say the coaches are getting out coached. That's where that can happen. But they are, they can't run it. They can't protect it. They can't protect the football. They can't do any of that stuff. You know, they can't do any of that stuff.

And they lose when push comes to shove. Dak Prescott's out of answers is what he had to say last night after the Cowboys gave up, what was it? 24 unanswered at one point?

I think so. Made a game of it by actually finding CD Lamb a couple times in the fourth quarter. It was 10 to three, and then it was 27 to 10. 27 to 10.

27 to 10. And then, and then the Cowboys actually had a shot at it. And then because the, the Niners backed off defensively.

And then Dak Prescott had himself a fourth quarter against a different defense. They backed off defensively? I think they did. Teams do that.

They just go, Hey, we're going to let you come back. You played prevent. That's what I meant. Were they playing prevent?

I don't know. I mean, you think they were trying really hard? All of a sudden we act like these guys get up by a touchdown, two touchdowns, and they stop playing football. You're acting like the Cowboys just like flipped a switch and all of a sudden. Well, I don't blame him for trying to hang his hat on something because the way that I'm, I'm laying it out, this looks like a complete flat team, average team that can't run it, can't protect it.

And I'll give some numbers about that in a second. I don't blame you for having that pushback TJ. I mean like, listen, and also they are grown ass men and he did find CD lamb a couple of times in the end zone, but when it all came down to it and he had it went back one last time, the Niners started buzzing around and started sticking to people like wallpaper and they went for now.

And this is what he had to say afterwards. Yeah. I mean, we just haven't made the plays and they've made them more than us. Yeah. As you said, right, it's been a couple of years, a couple of times it's frustrating. I've got to make the place period. Yeah.

You got to make the place period. Here's the issue. Cowboys have a negative eight turn or different turnover differential right now. That's the third worst in the NFL entering tonight's game. Only the Titans and the Raiders they're one in six and two and six are worse with negative Baker's dozen minus 13 in terms of running the football, the Dallas Cowboys in the NFL rate, the dreaded DFL absolute last 74 yards a game. They were averaging on the ground and they're putting it on the arm of Dak Prescott, who now has two interceptions in each of his last three starts first time in his career. He's ever done that. He leads the NFL with four games with two or more interceptions.

It's inefficient. He's only got a passer rating of a hundred in one of his last seven starts. And that one game was against the giants in week four.

So they don't protect the football. They can't run the football. And here's the biggest problem for him because you know, it's just seven games and they're just three and four, just one game under 500, not out of it by any stretch of the imagination, but you look at their schedule over the next four weeks and they face four opponents who are combined 21 and nine they're at Atlanta, which is feeling good about itself. They just swept the bucks. They're sitting in the top of the NFC South where the saints and the Panthers have fallen and cannot get up. And the bucks are banged up Falcons ready to just lay it on the Cowboys in front of their home folks and show that they are NFC contenders. Then the Eagles who have now won three in a row and feeling good about themselves in week 10, that's at home. Whereas, you know, they get blown out before halftime. Then there's a Monday night at home against the AFC South leading Houston Texans would love to lay down a calling card for the entire Lone Star state to see. And then they're at Washington, which is in first place in the NFC East, thanks to that shocking hail Mary, which we'll talk about later in the program against the bears. That giant's game can't come around fast enough in week 13, Thursday night, or pardon me, Thanksgiving. Pardon me. There you go.

That's the problem. I think Cowboys need to make a move for something. I don't know, getting Micah back, getting Tank back, playing defense.

I don't know. They call up Dalvin Cook, I don't know what the answer is. They're just an average football team. And the last time the Dallas Cowboys were under 500 through seven games was 2020. They missed the playoffs.

That got injured that year. They went six and 10. I think they'll be lucky to win six games this year. Well, I still think they're incredibly talented roster, but we always thought they weren't deep enough.

They weren't deep enough. And I do hope TJ, that you are right, that what we saw in the fourth quarter with CD Lamb is a nice spark for your team. Oh, I didn't say it was going to be a spark. Oh, well, no, it was something. I didn't say that. I'm like, you're right.

This team's mediocre. We've known this. We knew this all off season. We were sensing it. We were sensing it.

Yeah. But our whole story was they didn't do enough. They didn't do anything to improve the team. So they were a 12 win team.

That's fine. But Chris, when everyone else around you gets better and you do nothing to get better and you're losing players, that's not helping you. You're not getting better that way. We all sense the all in strategy meant take the team that you just won 12 games with again and supplement them with stars like Derek Henry or Deandre Hopkins or somebody like that in free agency, or you make a bold move in trading, or you do get one of these many talented running backs or wide receivers that are available in the draft. Instead they hit, they hit the lines and none of it seems to be working out right now. And they, you know, Jerry's about to start paying a hundred million dollars to a wide receiver quarterback combination that is not connecting enough to overcome every other mistake that's being made. That's the state of Dallas Cowboys through eight weeks of the 2024 all in season. As for the San Francisco 49ers, they're only a half game better than Dallas, but they're far more well positioned.

They hit their by having split their first eight. Everybody under the sun is expecting Christian McCaffrey to return to action when the 49ers returned to action in week number 10 at Tampa. Then they have an opportunity to sweep Seattle, which is very important. And then they have an opportunity to start showing up and showing out like defending NFC champs against some very stout opponent like Green Bay in Wisconsin at Buffalo on a Sunday night to kick off December play. Then comes two very important games in division in the final throws against two teams that have already beaten them, the Rams and yes, the Cardinals and this division is wide open. The Niners can win it. They're one of three, four, and four teams. The Cardinals are actually leading the division and we'll discuss that later on. Rams are only a half game out going to Seattle next week.

This thing is an absolute wide open battle. And if the Niners can just stay healthy, Deebo just can't stay healthy either during the week or during a game. And Purdy does look up and down more than he did last year, quite frankly. And maybe that's because McCaffrey's not there, even though as well as Jordan Mason and the rookie Garendo. By the way, did Tariqo lay into that word every single time?

Garendo, last night. It's a fun name to say. It's a great system they have in San Francisco for running back. So basically what you're trying to say is...

He's trying to say, I get it. And then there's the future, I'll call it Hall of Famer, our friend George Kittle. You know, I love George Kittle and I also hate George Kittle. George Kittle on National Tight Ends Day.

It was only appropriate. Joined Jerry Rice, Terrell Owens, Roger Craig, and Dwight Clark in the 500 Career Reception Club in San Francisco. Did you know it was a National Tight Ends Day yesterday?

Nice. Kittle has 6,777 passing yards. That's second in receiving history in the San Francisco franchise behind Rice and Teo. How about that? That's impressive.

How about that? And in terms of all time, most games with 125 or more receiving yards and one receiving touchdown, he just passed Gronk on that list with eight and he trails only Travis Kelcey on that list by just one. I mean, awesome stuff. And just when the Niners needed it, coming out of halftime, Kittle just goes on a game-breaking dash from midfield, damn near all the way into the end zone, and the line play took care of the rest. And then when it got really tight, they wrapped it up and all they have to do is come off there by, they're at Tampa, home for Seattle, at Green Bay, and then at Buffalo.

Big gaming in Chicago. There's some very tight games for a team that has been average at best this year, too. But they have been banged up and they are just going to hit the bye week and go hang out, relax, get better, get healthier.

And they've got a nice, a nice setup right now. All you got to do is just win that division and beat whoever finishes as the runner up in the NFC North that comes to visit them. NFC playoffs are shaping up to be an interesting one with the Lions, 100 percent the best team in the NFC, if not the entire National Football League right now, the way that they are playing, having popped a 50 burger on the Titans before the fourth quarter.

So that's the state of that. I want to talk about the 7-0 Chiefs. I want to talk about the Arizona Cardinals. I want to talk about Jamis Winston eating a W. I want to talk about the Jets being in the dark place. I want to talk about the way the Yankees and the Dodgers played against each other this weekend. I want to talk about, when we come back, the Hail Mary in Washington, D.C. And then I would like to talk with you at 844-204-RICH.

I want to talk to Jeff Passan in hour three and Daniel Jeremiah in hour two. That's, I want a lot and I'm going to get it. Because I'm sitting here and I am wearing an outstanding purple shirt. I'm looking at you. Thank you. Take a break, come back and also some phone calls.

So what do we want to talk about today, gents? What's on your mind, Chris? Like, literally, what do you think is the top story? What we just hit or something else? Well, it's kind of too bad it happened almost three days ago now, but Freddie Freeman's moment on Friday night, I think, is one of the highlights of the sports year.

I know that. And the thing is, it's like if that was to Game 7 or the World Series was a winner-take-all game like the Super Bowl or something, like it'd be an all-time moment, but then they just had to play the next day. Like, all of that just didn't happen 24 hours earlier. So, you know, unfortunately, you're kind of caught prisoner of the Sunday NFL moment, you know, which I think really when you think about the NFL, I think Jameis Winston is the biggest story in the NFL on Sunday. Well, we'll discuss that too. I mean, I just wanted to hit the Sunday night game first, I guess.

Yeah. I mean, Sunday night is usually first of mine, because it's usually the best game of the night. It's usually the premier matchup. They do a great job of scheduling that, and it just kind of works out. But I can't get enough of what Jameis did. That was pretty special. Well, that's what Browns were saying he was going to do. To do it at home, against that team. The circumstances too, Chris. Yeah, no, Jim Donovan passes away.

These are all items on our rundown, that is for sure. It was big. Today.

And Kaitlyn Clark's coach got fired too, in the WNBA. There's a good UFC card this week, I mean. Look at all that stuff. And then we got a sports equinox tonight. We got all four in action. That's right. It's huge. That's right.

That's why October may be one of the best sports months, right? It's pretty good. Fantastic. We're back here on our show together, back on the Rich Eisen Show Radio Network, sitting at the Rich Eisen Show Desk, furnished by Grainger with supplies and solutions for every industry. Call clickrainger.com or just stop by. Jayden Daniels versus Caleb Williams. CBS told everybody a couple weeks ago, that Eagles-Bengal's game.

Put that on earlier in the day. We're going to send Nansen Romo to suburban Virginia and put that on in front of the whole country. And then Jayden Daniels gets popped by the Carolina Panthers. And all week long, we're like, are we not going to see the game between the four and two Bears, five and two commanders, each of them putting their star rookie quarterbacks, who are surging at the same time on the field against one another to match wits?

Will we not see that? And sure enough, we saw it. And Jayden Daniels answered the bell with one of his own. With whatever rib injury he has, whatever flak jacket he put on, he answered the bell and the Bears kept ringing his bell best they could. And the bell was being rung in terms of defense on a quarterback by the commander's defense. I know we make a lot of Jayden Daniels and rightfully so, and the run game that they have, that Daniels is helping open up with his incredible efficiency, throwing the football, as well as his beautiful deep balls that he's throwing, as well as his own threat to run. I know we're making a lot of that, but what Dan Quinn has done with a defense that was easily one of the most beatable, one of the worst defenses that kept on trading their best parts away for future considerations, including one to the Chicago Bears who showed up yesterday.

Young sweat. That's incredible too. And Caleb Williams was having a long ass afternoon, early evening in Virginia. Yeah.

Tough day. And then the fourth quarter hit and he looked like the guy I saw in London. The first three quarters was the guy that you saw throughout the first month of the season who had, you know, pitter patter feet in the pocket. Didn't have much time to throw. Got out a little bit too soon because he wasn't getting enough time to throw. Wasn't going through progressions very well because he didn't have time to throw. And also maybe was pitter patting the feet. Fourth quarter.

I don't know, man. It just was like some sort of calmness got over him. He started making throws. That throw he made to DJ Moore that knocked more out of the game for a brief bit from the pocket that put him inside the five yard line was a thing of beauty. DeAndre Swift made a huge play to actually put the Bears in the end zone for the first time.

And he's had an incredible run of it right now. DeAndre Swift with 129 yards rushing his fourth straight game with over a hundred scrimmage yards and a rushing touchdown. That 57 yard score was the second longest rushing touchdown of his career and the longest rushing touchdown by a bear since the Lions stud David Montgomery had an 80 yarder in 2020.

And that's the longest by a running back. Justin Fields had a couple of 60 plus himself, but all I'm saying is that Caleb Williams started making plays and then one of the craziest, most easy second guessing calls you can see in a very long time is when the Bears were on the doorstep to take the lead and DeAndre Swift is unstoppable and Caleb Williams is seemingly unstoppable. They get too cute and make a quick fullback handoff to a backup center and the ball never gets to his gut. It's loose and the Bears don't even score. But their defense showed up again, got the ball back. That's when Caleb Williams started marching down the field again and they scored the touchdown and a two-point conversion and they're feeling good. They're going to win until Jayden Daniels was given one last opportunity. What a finish to this one. Jayden Daniels held on to the football for 12.7 seconds before launching it towards the end zone.

That's crazy. Traveled 65.9 yards in the air and the Bears have, as you could see on the photograph on the screen, I'll describe it to our radio audience, four defenders jumping to try and bat the ball down, but it was too damn high to bat down. They just batted it back and Noah Brown was standing by himself in the end zone. Hail Mary answered touchdown. A story for the ages and it will be told for some time.

This was the radio call of the Washington commanders home radio network. Daniels backing up. He's just gonna have to let one fly. Goes to the right side. Steps away from the defenders. Gives himself some time.

Now steps up, fires. Heads towards the end zone. He's talking about a ball goal. That's like his grand slam in another world series.

Yes, you baby. Right into the arms of Noah Brown. Jayden Daniels extended the play over and over and over. Walk off touchdown. That's Bram Weinstein and London Fletcher with the call.

London making an interesting and appropriate reference to the grand slam home run walk off on Friday night by Freddie Freeman, which we'll discuss later on. Jeff Joniac, let's listen to the agony of defeat. This was the call on the Bears radio network. David Daniels sifting back, being pressured. Jayden Daniels hemmed into the pocket, looking for blockers, looking for something. He's got plenty of time.

Watches deep pass into the area. He was the tip man, and this place is now gone into bedlam mode. Washington with the miracle finish. 1815 Washington Hail Mary.

Two seconds left. Or as they like to say here, Hail Washington. That is the gut pinch of gut punches. It sure is.

It sure is. And this is the stuff that will be discussed for a long time, because Jayden Daniels, we all assume is going to be around a long time, and Caleb Williams, we all assume is going to be around a long time. They're already attached at the hip because of how they were drafted. From DC. From DC.

He's from the mid-Atlantic area. He had a terrific fourth quarter, put his team up to win it, and then that happened. And so their first contest on the same field against one another, I'm getting goosebumps just even talking about it. This is going to be discussed for a long time. And also, we won't talk about leaving a mark in just 2024, had the Bears batted that down. They'd be five and two, right there with the Minnesota Vikings, right there a half game behind the Green Bay Packers, and right there a game behind the Detroit Lions in the NFC North. Coming off their bye, feeling really good about themselves having won four in a row.

Now, there's that. And by the way, the Eagles would be leading the NFC East over the five and three Washington commanders. Instead, the commanders lead the NFC East right now at six and two, a half game behind the Lions, still in the mix for the whole shooting match. And they're feeling great about themselves, and they're going to be talking about this for a long time, and they're going to be talking about this forevermore, and they're going to be selling tickets off of this, and they're going to have this entire city just lit and feeling inevitable. Jayden Daniels had this to say after the game from the podium. Throw the ball up, give my guys a shot.

I didn't see anything. I just heard people screaming in our sideline rushing the field. So that's how I knew. He must have been going crazy. For sure. I'm excited because, I mean, that's kind of like a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Not too many people get to experience stuff like that. That was my first time. So, obviously, I was juiced up the whole stadium, team, sideline, everybody. And is he one of the biggest stars in Washington, D.C.?

Uh, yeah. He had his first career game with 250 more passing yards and 50 more rushing yards in week eight. And you might be saying, wait, he hadn't done that yet? He had either 250 or more passing yards or 50 or more rushing yards in five of his first seven games, so this is the first time he put it together on the same day. Third rookie since 1950 with 300 more passing yards, no interceptions, and 50 or more rushing yards in a game. First player in Washington franchise history at any point in their career to have such a game. Jayden Daniels by week eight.

And then the Bears. I mean, Tyreek Stevenson is the one who's eating it today because somebody on the top of FedEx Field was just, you know, shooting video and caught him barking at fans while the ball was snapped. I mean, he was outside the numbers.

Everybody else is inside the numbers. He's outside the numbers with his back to the snap. As the play is going on, he is stunting and then turns around as the ball is launched and says, oh, wait a minute, the play's on. And he's the one who wound up tipping it. Perfect use of the word stunt, by the way, Rich.

Thank you, sir. If he would have just stayed outside the numbers, jogging with fans, the Bears win. You think so? He's the one who tipped it. Yeah, but it looks like whoever the orange arm there is going to tip it. He might tip it down.

We'll never know, will we? He literally tipped it over every that whole crowd and then Noah Brown is like, thank you. Would he have been in a better position if he had been in a better position? Would he have been in a better position to have leapt if you had his full focus on the play beforehand?

It's it's kind of it's a bad look, kind of terrible spot. Yeah, he's really good. He should have been cut before he got back to the locker room, dude.

You can't have that. No, Tarek Stevenson, by the way, I'll take him on my team, by the way. Well, they will take on him, Chris. I would cut him on him.

But you know, my guy won't pick him up because we don't do that. That's right. He apologized.

He went out on the old socials and put out an apology and and notes taken and prove it. You mean paying attention? Yeah, man, it's a it's a it's one of those real rough L's that will leave a mark. It is it for a long time. And, you know, Coop was saying to me, is this the greatest play in the history of Washington football?

I'm like, I don't I mean, I'm not well versed. They won some Super Bowls. But in terms of Regan's touchdown run on the Super Bowl. Right. And then the R.J. Thring. Remember the R.G.

Thring? Well, yeah, the right where he's holding his fingers up. And everybody thought he's the next coming. And then we all know that, you know, he was so good, you know, and Jayden Daniels is in that same, you know, star player.

So much hope in him. Heisman Trophy winning position, you know, and he's he's handling it like a champ, man. And he answered the bell.

He answered the bell. I don't know what like kudos to the commanders training staff and then his ability to to get through whatever pain there was. Jayden Daniels legend growing more and more each and every week. 65.9 yards in the air from release to catch. That's the third longest air distance of any completion in the next gen stats era, which we're still in the first decade of since 2016.

Unreal. First completion of the next gen stats era. That was a passive 50 more year air yards with a time to throw of at least eight seconds. Bears are going to be sitting on that one for a while. Do we need to rethink the strategy behind defending Hail Marys? I think we need to defend it. Not maybe defending Hail Marys, but defending the play before the Hail Mary. Don't let him don't let him get the 13 yards, man. But how about we put a little pressure on the guy? You rushed like two and a half. That's true, too.

And then he just kind of stood back there. Certainly if the certainly if the first if one of the defenders is going to be, you know, stunting. Stunt, right?

No, you might as well. Stuntin. Stuntin. Or you say you should run a stunt. Right. That would have been stunting. Yeah. Did I do that right? I like your style.

Like maybe send five or six guys at him. And while we're on the subject matter here, while we're on the subject matter here, as we've just gone all in about how Jayden Daniels fought through whatever rib injury he had to be out there, because it probably meant not only a lot to him to be there for his team and teammates, but then for himself against Caleb Williams and Caleb Williams literal homecoming to the mid-Atlantic area. And then Caleb Williams getting his ass beat for three quarters and then standing in there in the fourth quarter and leading the comeback that only the most shocking of Hail Mary attempts and successes could overcome. If that is one end of the spectrum, with all due respect, the other part of the end of the spectrum is Anthony Richardson on this day. And this may be a widely unfair, broad painting of a brush of this young man who last year suffered a season-ending injury way too soon, cutting off his first season and definitely setting him back in terms of his on-field play and needing all the reps and things of that nature. And the leadership he shows inside the building, we're unaware of.

I'm not privy to it. Everybody in Indianapolis tells me how much they love the kid, and that's part of the reason why they're sticking with him through some inconsistent play and losing yesterday in Houston. Part of the reason why was an absolute brain fart of a throw right before the first half where the Texans picked it off, turned it into points right before the half that the Colts really could have used in their favor instead of it being on Houston's end of the scoreboard at the end of this game. And Richardson did have them in position for their own Hail Mary at the end of the game.

I get all of that. But late in the third quarter, this is what we're all talking about, late in the third quarter, this is what we're all talking about today. We were all talking about it yesterday. Everybody was like, wait, what?

When they heard about it. Second and goal from the eight for Richardson in Indianapolis, false start, made it second and goal from the 13. Timeout called, then a touchdown to Alec Pierce call back due to offensive pass interference. Now it's second and goal from the 23 and Richardson's running around like crazy to avoid a sack, gets back to the line of scrimmage.

It's called a sack. And he comes out of the game and takes a knee on the sideline while Joe Flacco hands it off to Jonathan Taylor to lead to a field goal. And everybody's wondering and everybody's wondering if Anthony Richardson is hurt again. But Flacco came out of the game, Richardson came back in the game.

And after the game, everybody asked Richardson, what happened? Were you hurt? And here was the soundbite. Man, it's hard. I ain't gonna lie. That was a lot of running right there, what I did.

And I don't think I was going to be able to go to that next place. So I just needed a break right there. So I will just say this because again, in the 10 years that we've done this show, I want to make sure that athletes who are honest from the podium aren't completely lit up to the point where they'll start lying. And it's not my job to tell athletes, don't tell us the truth. We want to know the truth. We need to know the truth.

It's part of our business to seek it out. But Anthony, maybe just lie next time for your own sake. Because I don't know how that rests in a locker room where he's like, I gotta be honest with you. I was so tired by that point in time. I was exhausted. I needed a breather during a national football league game. And you're the quarterback.

And all you were going to do is hand it off anyway. So you go back to the sideline and you tell your coach, I need a break. That is a bad look.

That's a very bad look. And if I'm Shane Steichen and I'm Anthony Richardson, that is the first order of business to handle in that locker room right away. And I am hoping that everything that I do hear from the Indianapolis Colts organization about how this kid is in the locker room and how the fans, I mean, the fans love him, but you know, the, the, the, his teammates love him. That hopefully they cut him a little bit of a break because that's the sort of stuff that can break a team. Certainly if he's throwing interceptions that break the scoreboard for you and Joe Flacco sitting there going, you know, I'm pushing 40 and I'm not asking for a break. You know, I can come in there and not throw that interception and I can actually lead us to the playoffs.

I mean, I'm, I'm shooting you all straight here. Like, and I'm the one who keeps telling you they are not going to bench Anthony Richardson. They have to get him through all of this stuff. They have to get him through the tiredness and get him through the decision-making like that terrible throw at the end of the first half that cost the team seven points or the decision when they're out of timeouts at the end to stay in bounds while you're scrambling to get yards instead of going out of bounds that costs the team 20 seconds.

They were lucky to get one put back on the clock at the end. That's the sort of stuff that can make a team just go, really? We're following this guy in a battle? Yeah, or you're trying to win and he can be someone else's problem.

He had two completions in the first half. What are we doing? It is definitely a crossroads moment that Shane Steichen is to use the Mike Tomlin phrase. That's why they, they pay you the big bucks as the coach. You got to handle that. But that was a moment of clarity there. You don't usually hear from the podium. We'll take a break while we're on the subject matter of absolute gutting losses.

Gotta do it Rich. Let it out. I will. I let it out that night. Maybe dreadings a little bit.

Little doomsday. But it's rough man. Okay phone lines are lit appreciate all that stuff all that good stuff. Your Celtics almost cough one up to the Pistons. Yeah we up big and then we were down six in the fourth quarter.

I saw that one. Yeah three no. By the way Los Angeles sports I think what the only team to lose over the last five days was the Clippers on opening night and everybody's won since then including the Clippers? I think so. Lakers haven't lost yet? Yeah. Dodgers haven't lost yet? LA sports on a heater. Right?

Yes since the 24th. Right. Rams, Kings, Dodgers, Lakers, USC, Dodgers, Lakers, Clippers, Kings, Galaxy, USC men's basketball, Chargers, Clippers, LAFC in the playoffs last night. Look at us.

Dude. Look at us. Los Angeles sports.

Look at us. Transplanted New Jersey. I am 30 years this month. I am LA now.

I mean I like the Yankees. I'm LA. I think I'm 22 years this month. How long are you? 15. 15? TJ you've been how long out here?

25. Okay. So Del Tufo's first. You're like the Christopher Columbus of this show. And I am the oldest. Right? And you're second.

I'm third in Brockman's fourth. Yeah. We know Los Angeles now.

We knew Thomas died back in the day. Our kids are LA kids. That's true.

I've lived here longer than I've lived anywhere else in my life. Yeah, me too. Damn. Look at that. Wait a minute you just gave us some meth.

Back on the Rich Eisen Show Radio Network. So got tickets to game one of the World Series. Oh hey. Dream scenario when you get to take one of your children to their first World Series game for the team that you have imbued. Father. In that young human. Imbued. Again. Father. Baseball. Again. Again. Susie got the Patriots and the Celtics.

Because at the time when these children were born what are they going to do? Tell them you got to root for Ray Lucas? James Dolan? Get out of here. Tom Brady was a Patriot. Michigan man. Come on now.

It's fine. But the Red Sox onesies and bibs and whatever. That went straight back to New England.

Well they've won a lot of titles so I mean he would have been better off. Too bad. I got my Yankee and I took Coop to the World Series and there we were. There we were for the pageantry and setting it all up. The home run that Giancarlo Stanton hit to put the Yankees up 2-1. Has it? I got to be honest with you. I've been going to baseball games for 50 years.

Still in orbit? It truly is the highest ball I've ever seen hit as far as it went. The swing is insane.

In person. I'm sure there have been more. It's insane. But when he hit that it was just like no doubt I was down right field line so I was wondering if it was fair and then when I saw it was fair I'm like I can't believe it went that far because it went that high. And then the Yankees. It's amazing how playing off baseball more than anything else will always find the weaknesses of your team. If there's somebody who can't field it or somebody can't pitch it. Some manager who can't push the right button.

The moments will will be found more than any other sport I kind of feel like. And throughout the year Glabor Torres's occasional brain fart moments in the field have cropped up. And what happened in the eighth inning when Shoei Otani damn near parked one. Got off the right field wall. Little quick bobble by Juan Soto. I don't believe he would have thrown Otani out at second or held him out at first but he threw to second and the ball gets past Torres. Just like I don't know how it does but it does and Otani gets to the extra base the third base with less than two outs and the Yankees got out of those two such situations in the previous attempts. Third time didn't happen especially I mean at one point in the other previous attempts where the Dodgers had less than two outs and a man on third didn't score they brought in Clay Holmes and that made it a little bit worse but they still got out of that. Who do you bring in Rich?

Shmesh Momes pardon me. Anyway long story short game Todd goes to extras Yankees take the lead three games to two and extra innings and and they're down to their the Dodgers are down to their last few outs and with two of the next three hitters of their all world top of the lineup being lefties Aaron Boone decides to go to the bullpen bring in a lefty and instead of the guy Tim Hill who has been nothing but lights out for the Yankees from the left side of the mound and deserved a moment like that quite frankly due to his yeoman's work against the Royals and Guardians he decides to go to Nestor Cortez who's back off of the injured list hadn't pitched in 37 days and sure enough first pitch to Otani gets popped up down the left field line and Verdugo makes an incredible play caught it and then the runners on first and second advanced to second and third by the way major league baseball again make the umpires describe to everybody what's happening doesn't have to be off of a replay to describe what it is nobody in the stadium knew why everybody got second no idea we were all asking each other wait really really yeah that if somebody leaves the field of play and catching a ball no idea they automatically are assumed that they get to go advance a base truly everybody around me had no idea what the hell had happened but I agree yeah but we looked it up and we saw it and I'm 55 years old a lot of people did not know that all right long story short smart move to walk Mookie Betts load the bases and then up comes Freddie Freeman and this happened with the microphone uh in the hands of Joe Davis. Freeman hits the ball to right field she is gone. Gibby meet Freddie game one of the world series Gibby of course referring to Kirk Gibson in the 1988 world series in game one he hit the only other in the history of postseason baseball the only other walk-off home run hit by somebody who was down to their last out and was down on the scoreboard at the time that list is now Kirk Gibson and Freddie Freeman and both home runs parked in the right field stands and remarkably remarkably the home run Freddie Freeman hit was hit at 8 39 at night and pardon me 8 37 at night and Kirk Gibson's was hit at 8 39 at night almost to the damn near same minute on the clock uh and uh I was gutted it was it was yeah I was gutted and I looked at my son and I'm like he's now his first world series game is going to be the world series game that is talked about forever more and he's on the losing side of it and I thought to myself this I really did and I'm not just saying it I'm glad that that's the way it ended and it wasn't a nine nothing blow out the whole damn night I agree I was on the edge of my seat we thought we were gonna win it we were in it the whole time it was an absolute bleeding out and gutter to my gut and him too but the Dodgers got it done they have a better lineup than the Yankees on paper and a better lineup on the field pal listen the Yankees right now they're down listen to me they're down I only have a minute here Mike I'm sorry they're down 2-0 they're down 2-0 and all they gotta have is a bunch of people at the other parts of their lineup hitting like Teosco Hernandez yeah and um and Gavin Lux and obviously Tommy Edmond they don't have that and right now judge just is swinging at balls he would never sniff no swinging at throughout the season he wouldn't do it so the Dodgers deserve to be up 2-0 right now and the Yankees keep making too many mistakes against a team that has just so many stars you get through Ohtani you avoid bets with the walk and then Freddie Freeman's the guy you're gonna get passed oh and Nestor Cortez throws him a cookie right down the middle of the plate or a little bit inside in his hot zone and he took care of it and man that is one of the ones one of the worst losses I've ever seen from my team with my son sitting right there but at least we can hug it out together for the rest of our days we'll talk about it with Jeff Passan coming up in hour number two hour number three and then game two um I knew was over the minute Ice Cube came out from center field did you see that when he because you know folks who might not know Dodgers the Dodgers have celebrities come out and announce it's time for Dodger pays baseball which is the phrase that Vince Scully always used to say it was Brian Cranston night one but he was just standing there at home plate yeah Cube came out and um and rapped two songs as he made his way in a Dodger blue satin jacket all the way from center field to home plate and um a walking rat I saw I thought to my I thought I turned to Coop I'm like uh I don't have a good feeling about this this is over and you know then they hit three home runs off of Carlos Rodone and Yamamoto has the Yankees number dealing yeah and the uh and a and a a ninth inning against Blake Trinen Yankees just couldn't push that big hit across bases Soto's making all the big plays at the plate you know he's making the big hits and he just needs some help and if he doesn't get it over at least two of the next three nights there will be a parade here in Los Angeles California and Cube will have a more than just a uh a walk-in from center field so and I also need the Yankees to win at least the next two so by the time no contest wrestling tapes with O'Shea Jackson Jr. on Wednesday I don't have to hear it yeah he's been a baseball fan for like a month you're in the mood today Daniel Jeremiah coming up broke mom I'm passionate about it and baby S is going to be the one that says passion doesn't pay bills ocean watch what Lala is talking about on YouTube or search for give them Lala wherever you listen
