Rage wins. This is The Rich Eisen Show. You can't catch that man.
J-Mo to the house, 70 yards from Jared Goff. Live from The Rich Eisen Show studio in Los Angeles. Pete Rose joining me here. Well, there's a lot of rules involved with Cooperstown, huh Pete?
I know what rule. Earlier on the show, host of the Greenlight podcast, Chris Long. Co-host of All the Smoke podcast, Matt Barnes. Coming up, Sunday Night Football analyst, Chris Collinsworth.
49ers tackle Trent Williams. And now, it's Rich Eisen. Hour number three of The Rich Eisen Show is on the air. Chris Collinsworth of NBC and Pro Football Focus is about to join us on this program.
844-204-RICH is the number to dial. It was a fun hour number two. Matt Barnes in studio, and we also had Chris Long on a Zoom. We're going to get Trent Williams on the horn in about a half an hour on a Zoom with the future Hall of Fame left tackle of the San Francisco 49ers are two and two getting set to take on the Arizona Cardinals at home before visiting the Seattle Seahawks on a Thursday night in week six. We saw the Seahawks last night go toe to toe with the Lions for a bit. There was a huge turnover forced by the the Lions on DK Metcalf that kind of flipped things in their direction.
As much as the Seahawks try to go point for point with the perfect Jared Goff on Monday night, they couldn't keep up. And then there's the Tennessee Titans who for the second straight year surprised the Miami Dolphins on a Monday night in Miami. Last year, it was the Dolphins careening towards an AFC East title as it appeared. A hip drop tackle on Tyreek Hill basically knocked him out of that game and then made him less of a receiver for the rest of the year. And the Dolphins struggled on offense.
And then this year, not having a significant backup plan for Tua Tungovailoa certainly has come home to roost. Four different quarterbacks they've played so far this year. And the Titans, in the same way that we saw Flacco run the offense a little bit more efficiently than the young quarterback in Anthony Richardson in Indianapolis, I mean Mason Rudolph came in and led the the Titans to seven straight scoring drops. I mean Will Levis can wing it around and he's got a big arm.
I mean he's just way too turnover prone. Then he leaped for the first down marker and then he messed up his shoulder. And Brian Callahan, the head coach there, saying it's Will Levis's team though is what he said moving forward. But you could see when the ball gets out on time and that's Dehop and that's Calvin Ridley and then behind you, you got Tage Spears and you got Pollard.
Now you got yourself a team. Yeah, they were running it. You know, they're one and three just like the Dolphins. You know, my gosh. 844-204-RICH is the number to tell. Joining us back here on the Rich Hudson Show, it's been way too long. Our friend from Sunday Night Football, the perennial Emmy Award winner and the man in charge of Pro Football Focus, PFF Plus is coming your way if you wish to have it. Our friend Chris Collinsworth back on the show. How you doing Chris?
Yeah Rich, what's happening man? You tell me, what is it like watching Derrick Henry that big, running that fast, that way, Chris on Sunday night? You know, first of all he's a sweetheart of a guy.
I mean he really is. Like you talk to him, you would think he doesn't have one ounce of anything mean or aggressive or anything in his 250-pound body and then he gets out there and he just, I mean it's intimidating. I've been on the field a few times where you see somebody like that that's just running and you try to picture yourself as a defensive back going, okay I'm gonna run up there and throw my 190-pound as hard as I can at this guy's thighs and you see people get knocked out all the time.
It happened in the game the other day. I mean it just, it just happens but I think the thing that was most startling maybe to all of us was okay he's a little older now whatever he's at least 30 close to it whatever he is and breaks out in the clear and he's going up against all the cornerbacks and safeties. The fastest guys on the defense right? I mean historically those are the fastest guys and not only do they not catch him it looks like he's pulling away from him and I'm sitting there thinking whoa what do we got going here?
I mean we've got size and speed like that going one direction and then we've got Lamar going the other direction. They had all kinds of changes on their offensive line. They were injured. They were it just didn't matter and they really haven't even gotten everything going with Mark Andrews, Dave Flowers, the passing game. This is a dangerous looking team. Well you've seen Baltimore twice now. You've seen Kansas City twice now and I don't know if we can really extrapolate anything you've seen out over the next 13 weeks although I shouldn't answer that question for you. I mean what have you seen out of these two teams so far? You know the two AFC championship game combatants from last year that might make us think we're about to see that again, Chris? Well it wouldn't surprise me certainly and Kansas City taught me a lesson last year about ever doubting what they do.
I mean right? I mean all year long at what point were you going oh my gosh there's the Chiefs you know during the regular season. There they are. They're going to do it again and but I think the thing that we all make the mistake on the most is when we underestimate defense and sometimes when we've gotten used to seeing a great offensive team play and that certainly has been the Chiefs and Mahomes and Andy Reid. You tend to think less of them when they become equally as dominant on the defensive side and what's and what Spagnola and Chris Jones and those guys have done on that side of the ball has just been startling and it hasn't just been this year. It's been over you know a year and a half period of time here and I think that's what gives them the chance. I don't know what it's going to be you know as far as the guys getting hurt and how you know do we ever get Kelsey back in action, Pacheco, how long does he really get back to form.
So there's a lot of different questions about that team. Still have Mahomes but they have the cornerstone of what took them to the championship last year and it was the defense. Now I know you had Caleb Williams in in your second week. Right now Washington's not on your schedule although I proffer to say they they're flexible they're flex worthy based on what we've seen over the last two weeks including in Cincinnati where I know you might have had a good close look at Jaden Daniels. Break down for me what you're seeing out of these two rookie quarterbacks and what we can extrapolate out from their first months of the season Chris. Yeah I'll start with Caleb and you know I think that he's going through what everybody goes through that it is you know his entire life he has his greatest resource has been to move around buy time and win throwing the ball down the field. He can run it as well and that's fine but that's that wasn't how he won that wasn't how he became a Heisman Trophy winner. He's moving around to throw the ball down the field and then on the other side with Jaden we did have him in a preseason game so I got a chance to meet him. I loved him and when he was playing at LSU as a matter of fact I had him down as my top quarterback I thought it was very close but if I had to take one I said I would have taken Jaden and the reason for that was that I kept seeing Lamar and you know the more that the thing that I loved about I love about both of those quarterbacks is that in their heart they're they're a drop back passer they both want to win from the pocket they want to make their plays from the pocket and so everything else is an add-on on top of that so now you've got the read option you've got the reverse you've got different things that come out of it the ability to you know put great pressure on and strain on pass rushers because they've got to check whether or not Jaden Daniels is going to run the football first or not now you know so they don't have a Derrick Henry on that team and nobody else does either but I thought all along and then he you know first week it looked eh it was okay but but you're starting to see emerge what I saw in college which is that same sort of look I mean the Bengals you know say whatever you want they went up and down the field on that Monday night game and they could not keep pace with Jaden Daniels so I think Dan Flynn's excited I think the people in that building are extremely excited there was never a doubt once practice started who the quarterback there was going to be he was a natural leader people gravitated to him he has no fear of leading amongst older guys and when you talk to him he's just a really sharp guy he knows what he's doing already he understands offensive football and what that's going to be so I think his future is very very very bright chris collinsworth here the majority owner of pff and there's pff plus that we'll get to in a second to tell you about that and sunday night football this week you've got the Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers I mean I don't know I don't know if there'll be any interested fan bases out there chris to give you a big number this sunday night right I mean and it's tomlin week for anybody who has pre-broadcast meetings with a with a head coach it doesn't really get much better than that what are you seeing out of the Steelers through the first four weeks coming off their first loss but a progression of Justin Fields who was just announced by Tomlin is definitely the starter sunday night chris yeah I think that for fields it was um I'm not so sure they lost the game he made some mistakes he made a mistake at the end of the game with the snap count they they blew a snap and you know that's going to happen it's just going to the things are going to happen early on but you know this defense had totally carried this football team for the first three weeks and then it feels like we're getting closer to decision time right Russell Wilson's back maybe he's already healthy I don't know I haven't had a chance to talk to anybody there yet but Justin Fields and so you kind of needed to see right is it just what we had seen in Chicago and he could make plays with his legs and key situations and all that or had he taken a step with the passing game and they get down 17-0 in the game against the Colts the other day and there was no choice I mean basically you hand the ball to Justin Fields and and let him cut it loose and he was pretty good I mean that was a better version of what we had seen than what we had seen before in Chicago and sometimes you know you have to take a step back to take a step forward and once he got to that point where he got to play three games with him he got to understand Steeler football we're going to play to our defense we're going to run the football we're going to not make mistakes we're going to not turn it over in the middle of the field all those kinds of things and we're going to hang in there because the Steelers they say it all the time it's hard to kill them no matter what the score is it's hard to kill the Pittsburgh Steelers they have that kind of fight in them because they have Mike Tomlin as their head coach and great leadership T.J. Watt etc and but this is a team that I think what we saw out of Justin Fields was probably enough even if Russell is right and ready to go this week to where you go I want to see one more of those right I want to see him again now in a big game at home national television the Dallas Cowboys was that just a in a in case of emergency break glass and and let him throw the ball around and it's going to be okay or was that Justin Fields taking a step in a positive direction to where now the trust level goes up in a in a 7-3 game we're going to let him drop back and throw the ball a little bit we're going to let him throw on first down occasionally we're going to go some play action we're going to do some things other than what we traditionally think of with Justin Fields and to me that's when it starts getting exciting and obviously I'm sure I'm not the first one to say this but you know that's that's a great answer if Justin Fields can be the quarterback of the Pittsburgh Steelers he's the young quarterback young quarterback he's the one you can develop he's the one that can stretch his career over time with Pittsburgh and he seems to be you know pretty strong fit with that club especially with Arthur Smith who to me is just tailor-made to be offensive coordinator of the Pittsburgh Steelers yeah and then there's the Cowboys Chris and I know it's you know it's part and parcel of being in a chair like mine to have have a cowboy conversation and and wonder if they're in trouble but the the two guys up front being hurt and the the offense having no real run threat and I know again it's low-hanging fruit to say the guy that you saw rip 87 yards off to start the game for the Ravens the other night would have been perfect with a star on the side of his helmet that's exactly the type of balance and a guy who could take the pressure off of Dak and Seedy the exact side of guy that the Cowboys said they couldn't afford I truly am looking around saying where's the offense coming from and where's the slack on defense going to be picked up with Daron Bland out as well I mean you know you saw on Thursday night where where Daniel Jones was picking on one of the replacements I'm literally wondering where it's going to come from with Dallas right now Chris yeah the hard part is that Dak's not going to run the ball as much as he once did Ezekiel Elliott Rico Dowdle I think the longest run they've had this year out of a running back is 10 yards maybe 11 yards something like that some of the biggest plays they've had a backfield has been from Hunter Lipke the fullback coming out and making some catches down the field tremendous pressure on C.D. Lamb I mean they're I mean they're putting him in the backfield and tossing him the ball now just anything to try and get him involved in the game plan and you really do need to go okay who is number two right is it still Cooks does he have that still in him is it Tolbert who probably has the second most catches Ferguson you know it's it's a it's a non-explosive offense right now other than C.D. Lamb and so everybody has their own opinion of what works in the National Football League but I think if you don't have the ability to create explosive plays that that it's too hard and you know there are too many holding penalties there's just it's too hard to do these 12 play drives something inevitably goes wrong and you need that C.D. power that he creates the problem is that yeah you can move them all around you can pick for them you can do different things but right now teams all around the league are playing these umbrella coverages and not allowing deep throws and but C.D. at his best is a catch and run guy he's a dynamic and open field making people miss he was in college he is in the NFL but boy you hate to even think what the offense would be without him at this point pff plus sir what what what what is this what are people getting what do you got for me on this front chris just so many different things rich we're going videos we're going additional information we used to be sort of a data company now we're doing a here's what it is and this is what it means kind of company and there's a million different ways you can access it but as you watch the games as you watch the videos that we do is you get you get involved as deeply as you want whether it's sports betting whether or not it's you know just fantasy football we've got experts all the way around a ton of mathematicians and you know at its core pff kind of changed the game in that regard it was you know we we said from the beginning they were making mistakes punting the ball in situations kicking field goals in situations instead of going for touchdowns and i would say over the last seven years we've seen a transformational change in the nfl with the strategy of what's going on so we continue our math first approach if you will to the game of football and i've got a bunch of guys that know what they're doing pff plus you can sign up for less than ten dollars a month you should have a segment on pff plus called here's a guy chris what do you think oh rich you're ahead of your time here's i will say but it's not pff that has it i'll just say that okay you're your time that's unbelievable you said that hey chris i'm a brander i brand for a living you know that's part of your brand is here's a guy i don't know if you're aware that people think you say that a certain amount of times they can actually uh maybe make harder in american dollars depending on the number of times you stayed on a broadcast chris i don't know if you're wearing that i i'm just saying i everybody that comes up to me no matter where i am you know the one the guys that yell at you from across the street yeah they don't go hey chris anywhere hey here's a guy here's a guy that's that's how they say hello to me that's it or they'll slide a chair in next to you you know at a dinner table or something like that yeah they've got to be a little older now that one's that one's been out for a little while that's the al michaels tradition right that's right that's right uh before before i let you go i'm sure you're seeing bill do his thing on the media right and he's killing it and that's no surprise to us being colleagues from the nfl 100 all-time team program uh and i know this is just throwing a dart here you i wouldn't know either but do you think he wants to coach again what do you think do you think he's going to come back i don't know so i i feel free to give an opinion um i i wonder how he feels about this like i if you would ask me this at the beginning of football season i would have said a thousand percent yes um i do think he wants to coach and i still do it it probably depends on the job and i still would lean 60 40 that way but he's been so good on television i mean i don't know how much of this stuff you've watched but when he gets on to explain something about some intricacy of the game i watched him the other night describing and you know the outside zone play and they went on and on and on about the history and here's where it started and you know luckily for me mike shanahan and that whole tree i i grew up with mike was my offensive coordinator at the university of florida my senior year so i knew a little bit of that history but the depth of what these players are doing is is unbelievable i remember i asked him i said something to him one time like i was talking to him about the the hand jam of of the defensive tackles on his team and he went on for 20 minutes if you don't ask about his team or the other team right and try to get any strategic advantage out of them he'll talk to you all day but i i said to him at the end of the thing i was like i go coach man i said you could write a book about this he goes chris i could write a book about every position i was like yeah you know you probably could that's just about right so but i i think that i think he's probably you know he hid away all those talents inside the coaching room but i really do feel like as somebody who never played for him i'm starting to understand the depth of understanding that he had about all those positions and why they won so many championships no doubt about it no question and i i think what the media tour for him if you will is doing i'm not surprised that he's great at it i'll be honest i'm surprised that the number of opportunities he said yes to i'm sure you know um it's keeping him busy and he enjoys doing them all and he he was able to pick and choose his opportunity and i think the media year will allow him to do the same for coaching in a way that last winter he didn't have that opportunity and i i think he'll if he wants to do it again there'll be many suitors more than last year now well what's going to be funny let's say he goes back into coaching uh-huh and he goes back in and now he's standing up in front of the podium again and we're used to hearing him elaborate on these brilliant answers extended conversations all the stuff that we love and someone's gonna ask him the same question you're gonna go uh you know i don't know we're just trying to play the game but you know we're just trying to win a game if i get one guy to do one thing right we're just trying to win one game you understand yeah and everybody's gonna go no we know better we know you actually know how to do this stop it what what happened to the cw bella check right words you never heard to say before chris thanks again greatly appreciate it uh say hi to the whole nbc crew uh look forward you got you're gonna spend a senior or military discount one discount per household are you still playing fantasy football you still doing that um i i not really no i i i i'm in a league but i don't i don't control it when my buddies controlled it for me well because i know we've had conversations about this before and that there are some interesting um uh i guess tasks that the loser of this league must undertake so are you if you lose even though you're not part of the day-to-day they'll hold me to it absolutely i don't even know if i could tell you who's on my team right now but um if i were to lose they would they would absolutely hold me to it and uh we'd have to go take care of business what are some of the um fails that i guess that you have to go to some of the the responsibilities of the losers of your league what is uh last year the loser uh had to go to alaska for a day what do you mean like rich like for a day yeah okay they went to a place called gnome alaska that's where the i did a rod it goes through there i think so so the lutheran race regardless of the geographic spot in the united states would have to for a day get on a plane and and prove proof of purchase of the ticket and then take a photo like how do you yeah i mean there's there was tasks involved it was i think he went in march um okay but it was it was yeah it was the whole thing and that was just one year that was just last year's this year it'll be entirely different what other previous uh years any other examples because that's amazing you have to go to gnome alaska the year before the loser you know uh farce real sports does the rough and rowdy the boxing deal he fought in that at the super bowl the year we were there he was he was fighting in the in the boxing on friday night uh before the game there oh my gosh this is you do not want to lose your fantasy league you know you don't know that's why i i try to i try to put a lot of faith in in my body the rich isin show radio network is back on the air i'm sitting at the rich isin show desk furnished by granger with supplies and solutions for every industry granger has the right product for you call click ranger.com or just stop by joseph and maryland let's take his call he's been holding on since pretty much the beginning of the show what's up joseph hello there great to hear from you rich first time calling in but i'm a big fan of how optimistic and wholesome you are so i'm hoping to get some of your optimism uh and wholesomeness free of charge the optimism comes with the cost free wholesomeness is free of charge oh thank you thank you well i'm a fan so uh not looking great right now um uh unfortunately i uh recently uh i'm going through a kidney stone and let me tell you watching the dolphins is equally as painful as this kidney stone oh boy so i'm hoping that maybe we can figure out a way to to get this in a better situation um are we talking about the dolphins offense or the kidney stone joseph oh oh but particularly the dolphin's offense because that is that is truly atrocious um right now the uh which is more difficult in the passing game the stone or i was going to tweet that out i'm sorry joseph what what's your what's your question say that again well what do you think we can do to to get in a better situation i mean my gosh what i'm seeing it looks like it's our play calling and our game plan um is it the coaching is the mike mctangle not i don't know man that guy is brilliant i mean and he he knows i think he's probably diagnosed exactly what the issue is and i don't know it's just operator error and thanks for the call joseph honestly the the the issue is is like listen if you knew you had uh a kidney that was apt to create a stone would you obviously can't have a backup kidney but you know would you have a plan how to handle that stone this is where basically what i'm saying is that you knew you knew the quarterback is potentially susceptible here and you know the system uniquely designed for his exact skill set and where your backups are well we're we're basing scholar thompson's ability to get this team through a four-game stretch based on on his performance in seattle before he got hurt that's how we're basing it and you know that is essentially the what we're hanging our hat on they didn't have a plan for it because last night ain't it last night they could easily lose in new england easily i know you're not dialed in but i know that game might be three nothing i i understand that i mean it's entirely possible yeah so um our guest is ready he's quite clearly one of the best in the business he's going to the hall of fame and i'm not just saying that because he's zooming into this program courtesy of chunkies i'll just say it to anybody including your face sir how are you trent williams of the 49ers good to see you going on rich how you doing how's it going with you well good i can't complain yeah i'm gonna go how about you i'm i'm doing fine you know um we're you know i'm i'm right now here's what i'm doing i'm seeing you and i'm trying to line up properly because i don't want to i don't want this interview to get stopped by an illegal procedure in the middle of all the trying honestly i'm getting driven nuts by this right now as a fan what what is it like as a lineman with a legal procedure palooza happening in the nfl right now trent what's going on yeah it's frustrating it's frustrating especially when um we're talking about emphasis on a penalty that has little to no bearing on the outcome of any play uh so to me i just think it's chasing ghosts out there um you know obviously i just think it's another way to it's another way to prolong the game which i don't think we need more of those well what is the what have you been told because i'm sure you know again i know you know you were dealing with a contract and and and might not have been in camp when somebody came through and say this is going to be an emphasis this season but what has it been communicated to you why why this is happening trent there's been no explanation that i that i could understand why um they wanted to tackle this particular penalty um you know i like i said i really can't find i can't find to make sense of it i don't understand the effect on the game um you know obviously you can't line up too far in the backfield that that's you know which i don't even when you look at it it's really not giving you an advantage anyway the quickest way to the quarterback is it's through the inside and the deeper you get in the off the line of scrimmage the more of a direct line you get a defensive end to the quarterback so i honestly don't see i don't understand um the big hang up with the rule i still have no explanation as to why um it's something they decided to tackle this year but you know it's one of those things you're just gonna have to weather the storm for right now 49ers trent williams here on the rich isin show what's your message to niners fans that are looking at the two and two start seeing mccaffrey in germany last week now he's back they're hearing there's achilles tendonitis in both legs um and again your team's at 500 coming off of last year's uh so close to getting it all season what what's your message to niners fans who are concerned with the state of the team right now trent um you know understandably you got concerns you know it's but you know in my in my mind we have a long way to go this season is definitely a marathon not a sprint there's anything that we've learned with these previous three seasons that uh you know this is a very long season and a lot can happen you know obviously uh we don't have control over the injury bug but you know you'd rather get bit early than late uh so you know obviously not having christian is a is a it hurts as an offense but um we do have confidence that he'll be back and then you know when when when he is back he'll be as fresh as ever uh hopefully we'll be heading you know trying to go on our run to play the type of football we know we need to play to get to where we want to get to don and the reason why i'm asking about him it's not a slight of jordan mason i mean my goodness the the kid is electric and he's been doing very well uh for you guys um but i mean what is mccaffrey saying to you not to turn you into my own nfl information person but you're you're the guy who sees him every day what is he saying to you guys about coming back this year trent well he said he's uh he's improving last i talked to him uh just a day or two ago um he he said that the treatment was going great uh rehab was going great um i think he's extremely confident that he'll be back in the lineup uh pretty soon i don't know how soon but uh definitely expecting him this year so trent williams here courtesy of chunkies which we'll talk about here shortly uh on the rich eisen show 11-time pro bowl selection trent i mean how and i know you just signed a a contract extension that you you've you know you fought hard for it seems during the summer how much longer do you want to do this trent how much longer you know i don't think i'm gonna put an expiration date on it i think i'm um you know just enjoy this process uh enjoy the ability to get up and wake wake up and live a dream um enjoy enjoy the ability to get out and play this child's game for king vernissim and uh you know i don't i don't want to think about the end i just want to enjoy every minute of it and you know i might look up we might be five years down the line i might look up it could be two years down the line but you know um at this point i don't even see the reason and looking towards the end you know i'm 15 years in and you know i know i know i don't have another 10 left but uh you know i'm definitely not gonna put a cap on it what do you like about it so much that you're still doing it i mean again and you're in you're playing a position where you are taking a beating you're you're delivering it uh as well but seriously there's a lot of people leaning on you trent you know all right yeah it is you know but i mean i'm i'm from texas born and raised longview texas i've grown to play football i've been playing football since the second grade uh it's pretty much all i know and i'm just chasing that that perfection i just want to be the perfect player i just want to be the best offensive lineman ever play the game and you know and that's just that that fire just still burning inside so as long as it's burning i'm gonna be playing tell me something about brock purty i don't know trent i mean i don't think i can tell you anything you don't know i think uh well you might not know he picked up golf in this off season and uh well i think he already he i think he from what he told me he already broke it to the 80s so well i know i think that's pretty impressive well i mean listen uh if he wants to be an elite quarterback he's got to play golf trent i mean like that's with that please i mean you got to be good at it i mean you can't be beaten by no all due respect alignment right i mean do you play golf do you play golf i do yeah yeah so i took that little dish you know what this interview is a soup that eats like a meal trent you know you never know what you're gonna get but uh what's your game what's your golf game look like what is that all game is uh you know i worked that handicap down this off season i'm only in my second year playing but i can't say that i broke the 80s like mr brock here but i'm close you know i'm close i'm knocking on the door about 91 is probably my the best i've seen this off season but you know it's early i'm still okay looking uh looking to get on that pga tour around 55 60. i like it so but what do we know about what what about purty do i not know what he's like um as a quarterback professionally in the huddle anything that you can tell me i think you can if you you look at him long enough i mean what you see is what you get he's laser focused um he's an outstanding leader he's a guy that uh a lot of people draw confidence from especially being the signal caller uh he's an extremely extremely bright individual extremely high IQ uh football player so um you know i think all of those things it's pretty evident when you watch him play so i don't know if i'm telling anything you don't know but uh you know he's just an outstanding quarterback he's uh we won a lottery you know so to speak are you wearing the chunky sax hunger t-shirt right now i am okay i am and uh there's 20 of these proceeds to go to feed families around america so uh you know godly support the cause you know tackling hunger in america has always been a big issue continues to be um so we can do it together chunky sax hunger dot com um and a a thousand dollar a thousand meals for every sack so yeah so this is ironic man this is ironic it's ironic you're like taking a you try i mean you're the guy who's kind of preventing the sax right trent yeah so i'm in a little i'm in a bit of a contradiction here but uh you know i just think i continue to work uh and practice help yes sir help nick and those guys get better so on sunday we can still sack the opposing quarterback and uh still feed families in america you know we just don't we don't have to uh feed them off of our quarterback getting off the ground understood listen ladies and gentlemen that's a great answer what a great answer this is not trent williams first rodeo everybody it's good to see you trent thanks for the time right here i should have asked before are you wearing the proper shorts for this interview trent well i'm actually wearing jeans you know i've been working i've been putting my hands to use here at the food bank so uh okay yeah i'm wearing i'm wearing some working man jeans i just wanted to see that because you know i mean you got you got i i saw if you're not wearing the right shorts for the 49ers you know the coach might uh stop you know yeah yeah carol carol is uh pretty anal about that so you definitely want to have the right shorts though so you you wear the right shorts correct for practice i've had to i've had to change shorts at practice uh you know one or two times okay good to know so even if it's you and you're you're you're a guy who knows what's up so i appreciate the time a little bit and sorry appreciate it and sorry i uh i said that about uh linemen in the golf game trying i'm just uh okay i mean it's trust me i get it but we work and we overturn this stereotype every day okay very good trent thanks again for the time appreciate it and uh thanks for doing what you're doing for chunkies appreciate it oh yeah yeah appreciate you having me rich take care any time that's trent williams future first ballot hall of famer and san francisco 49er the irony that uh chunkies is delivering a thousand dollars pardon me a thousand meals to feeding america for every sack it's his job to prevent sacks quite the answer and he's helping uh his guys get better good answer good answer and mccaffrey's saying he's coming back guys okay let's get it let's get after it they don't need them but okay that was a good uh uh overreaction monday subject matter yeah so devante adams update oh are the raiders actually um open to open to trading him is adams on the block and my top five most 1617539 first one up herm edwards on october 30th 2002 after a week eight loss to the cleveland browns here is play to win the game as told by victor newman this is great about sports this is what's the greatest thing about sports is you play to win hello you play to win the damn game right you don't play just to play it when you start telling me it doesn't matter get your ass out of here then retire because it matters well done that's number one next up in october 16th 2006 after the cardinals blew a 20-point lead against the bears on monday night football oh man dennis green they are who we thought they were as as portrayed by victor newman bears are who we thought they were you know that's why we took the damn field now if you want to crown them then crown their ass but they are who we thought they were and we let them off the damn hook very good very well done all right last one for you i can feel it i'm glad that we got it rolling because here's the last one i can feel on may 7th 2002 the famed practice press conference of one alan irison as recounted by the man who plays victor newman eric brayden hit it i mean listen man you're talking about practice okay not a game it's not a game not a game all right not the game that i could have then die for and play every game like it's my last i know it's important yeah i do i do i do i honestly do but we're talking about practice man what are we talking about practice you're talking about practice man you're talking about practice man and i'm wearing the same sweater i can feel it back here on the rich eisen show radio network we pay attention to other shows guests we do we do we do aaron rogers on pat mccaffee show said his legs a little sore banged up banged up a little his knees a little swollen yeah banged up and swollen but he's gonna play sunday we're gonna i just need him in one piece for uh for sunday's game i'm calling on him like high knees like rust he'll be fine he'll be fine he says he and salah are close friends too that doesn't seem like it i get it it's all right yeah seriously i'm sure it's fine uh we also noticed uh on k adams show yes we saw her guests of course um devante adams no relation no relation i mean maybe double the adams you know um it could be cousins vinny bonson yore do we have that tweet we got the tweet from vinny um he's saying uh that a league source with knowledge of the situation raiders are growing open to the idea of trading him devante adams source said the club has begun reaching out to teams to gauge interest in the veteran wide receiver let me tell you let me tell you what gauge interest in the veteran wide receiver jets would take him in a heartbeat your team would take him in a freaking heartbeat in the cowboys yeah oh yes oh yeah okay you know who would take them but they can't give them the chiefs the chiefs would take them in a heartbeat they ain't walking through that door but the chiefs are leaving open the possibility of rishi rice not being done for the year still that didn't look good though wow come on now all right so devante adams on up and adams had this to say decay that runs hit it a lot of people think you might never play another down as a raider what would you say to that uh all i can control is this this talk we're having right here and then after we're done with this all i can control is the next thing that i'm going to so i'm gonna get up in a minute and go get a nice workout in and that's all i can control okay i think he can control where he goes at some point feels like i don't know if he hasn't held on let me look oh he's he's he doesn't have anything guaranteed after this year i was gonna see it's eight and a half million bucks you know you know you'd owe on his contract if you require him at the trade deadline no what i'm saying he he can he can basically say i don't want to go there right yeah and the raiders can say the same thing too but name a team they'll take him engaging interest yeah i mean you make it yeah hey we're thinking the jets would take him right now everybody i think a lot of and and by the way it's draft capital that you're spending an eight and a half million i don't know if the cowboys can afford him he's more expensive than derek henry yeah maybe we took some of that 10 billion no no it's it's it's it's cap as you know sir get you know the raider i mean i i don't know word is that what they're sitting him now to make sure he's healthy oh he's getting traded wow not great vante adams on the move would be huge but just uh again a note to all of our uh our friends out there we see your guest list we pay attention that is no lie people all right we got a top five list hit it high five one two three four five richest top five i've got a top five this is a sad tradition you know i'm a glass half full guy we got a guy called in you're very being wholesome and optimistic accuse you you're getting close to that i told him optimism comes at a charge wholesomeness on the arm on the house for free drinks right but every year i do this top five most disappointing teams of 2024 we are now a quarter of the way through all right our season here we go number five they were one of my sleeper teams i'm putting the arizona cardinals here man i thought they'd be better at one and three my concern for them is they they gave the bills as a scare and you're like okay good enough and then they go home against the rams and destroy them destroy them and then they lose their next two and they're at home they had a three-game home stand and they went one and two on it and got progressively worse they got smoked by the washington commanders now they're going to san francisco after that at green bay home for the chargers on a monday night yeah they've given up the third most points in the league oh my gosh and i i thought they'd be better quite frankly that's number five on the list number four i'm putting the bangles here i had them winning the afc north and i know they just came up with their win and you're feeling good about yourself cincinnati fans but and you started owing to again that that third loss to the commanders at home brutal that that one really left a mark and we'll see if you can dig out of it but one and three i didn't expect the bangles start one and three come on even with t higgins hurt and jamar chase looking for a new contract number three i put them at number three instead of higher because it's not their fault that tua made the moment that i'm sure everybody wishing that we could take back happen and for a split moment he just forgot his sense of self-protection he'd already thrown three interceptions against the bills and he went straightforward instead of sliding and he's concussed and the dolphins playing behind him uh already blew up in their faces the the next half in seattle and now they're they're adrift and they're one and three and they are once again the first team since the 2017 browns to go through the first four games of a season and not lead for a single second those 2017 browns went oh and 16 that's how disappointing the dolphins are number two i'm putting the browns here i don't know what the heck is going on and i know deshawn watson threw one amari cooper in vegas that got called back it's just nothing due to a hold by the backup center nothing's working nothing i i don't know what in the world is happening they're lucky to have that one they could be oh and four and they got beaten at home by the giants and the cowboys beat them up in week one and they just went to vegas and won a game where devante adams and max crosby's out they should have they lost number one most disappointing team of 2024 i think it's it's a hands down it's the jacksonville jaguars and the owner said it's the best team that they were going to have in a long time and it's time to win and they haven't won yet you know and the dolphins were number three on this list most disappointing their own win their only win was against jacksonville i don't know what's going on they came so close this week but i told you because i'm a glass half full guy and i'm full of optimism and wholesomeness beat the cults at home then go to london where you can band together as a team come back three and four and see how it goes but don't talk about a disappointing start oh and four is the top of the list and i think we need one more i'll give you two more all right we'll get one more teams in the nfce's two or two and two cowboys and eagles both disappointing in their own rights and you know i i threw the eagles in here because i could feel your heat from my from my right tj this team uh at two and two i mean sorely disappointing and and so are the eagles and it's not just the way they lost their two it's the way they won their two in a way and it's a way that i could see them having uh being on the struggle bus still moving forward and that's my top five most disappointing teams at the quarter post point of the nfl season thanks to my guests chris collinsworth trent williams matt barnes we had half the smoke here and uh and chris long on our show we're
