NerdWallet Compare, Inc. NMLS 1617539. This is the Rich Eisen Show. Do you think Shohei Ohtani will wind up being the greatest baseball player in the lifetimes of anybody who's alive right now?
Check this out. From the Rich Eisen Show studio in Los Angeles. Ohtani!
The greatest day in baseball history! Earlier on the show, ESPN NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky, Fox Sports announcer and voice of the Dodgers, Joe Davis. Coming up, NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero. And now, it's Rich Eisen.
Oh yeah, that's correct. Out number three, the Rich Eisen Show on the air. Great chat with Joe Davis from New Orleans. He's getting set to call the Eagles and the Saints, but as we all know, he called Shohei Ohtani's six hit, 10 run batted in, three home run, two stolen base, five extra base hit day in opening up the 50-50 club by opening up the 51-51 club as well.
I mean, that's the summation of it, right? Crazy. And Dan Orlovsky now our number one. If you missed any of it, don't worry. We re-air on the Roku Sports Channel as well as the Rich Eisen Channel. That re-air kicks in at six Eastern Time and then we re-air throughout the weekend. There's our podcast, there's our YouTube channel, youtube.com slash Rich Eisen Show joining us on this What's More Likely Friday, which we've already played.
And I've got my top five list of the other games in week three that I'm looking forward to after the Jets took care of business against the Patriots last night. Our friend Tom Pelissero from NFL Network and the NFL insiders back here on the Rich Eisen Show. Good to see you, Tom. Good to see you, Rich. Is there anything else you want to say, Tom?
No, last week it made a big deal of me saying hello to the boys in the studio, but then so I thought maybe this time I'd see if they said hello first. Okay. Oh, okay. It all got knocked. Okay.
Wow. We're playing middle school games here, Tom. Is that what's happening? Don't forget how this started, Tom, is you not speaking to us.
So guys, let me just be the adult in the room and step in here. Let me tell you, I haven't texted Tom once about A.J. Brown this week, okay? That's because you already know the answer.
That is growth. I haven't texted Tom since the last time he was on this show during his interview and I sent him a video of me saying hi to him. And excuse me, during the interview, you didn't text him about A.J.
Brown. You texted him about Jahan Dotson, which is worse. Okay, let's be honest and accurate here, which is why he's not saying hello to you. I asked him if I should pick up. What was the set line for Jahan Dotson on Monday night there, Brockman? Well, I didn't play him.
I played Roma Dunze instead just as bad. Okay, ladies and gentlemen, that concludes this portion of pettiness of the Tom Pelissero head. The Pelissero petty meters. The petty ball, right. Tom, what do you know about Justin Jefferson's readiness? Because I believe you're doing the Vikings and Texans game for NFL game day morning for us, correct? You'll be there?
I will be out there on Sunday. I was at the Vikings practice facility yesterday making a fairly rare appearance over there, as everyone let me know. Justin Jefferson was on the practice field, but he was not really dressed for practice.
I saw a photo zoom today kind of dressed the same way. It seems like they're really limiting him through the course of the week here. He's got a quad bruise. Those can be problematic at times when you talk to doctors about them just because they can be really painful. They can lead to stiffness.
You can lose range of motion. Jefferson, when he talked to reporters, said that he for sure intends to play here. You know, there's obviously different things you can do on game day to try to loosen that thing up. So at this point, I would anticipate that he's going to go. How effective is he actually going to be in a pretty big game against Houston?
That remains to be seen. Okay, and so 49ers just emerged beat up from losing in Minnesota. George Kittle wound up on the injury report with not practicing with a hamstring on top of Deebo being out, on top of McCaffrey being out. I guess tell me about Kittle, whatever you might know, and about what the Niners are going to do offensively and how they're going to perform if they change anything up.
Tom? Well, Kittle was actually carted off in the game on Sunday. They attributed it to cramps.
The thing is, when you get cramps in your hamstring, sometimes that turns out to be an actual injury, not just a matter of dehydration. So yeah, I mean, the 49ers are really beat up. The Rams are really beat up. If you were looking at this, I think most people on the outside would have said, if anybody in the NFC West is going to challenge the 49ers this year, it's going to be the Rams.
But think about this. The Rams have no puking to Cooys on IR. Cooper Cup is not expected to play for at least a couple of weeks here. They've got four offensive linemen who are on injured reserve. And then flip side of that, everybody you just mentioned, no Christian McCaffrey. Remember, they lost their number two running back lead, Elijah Mitchell, to a season ending injury back in training camps. They're playing with their number three back right now. You've got no Deebo Samuel at this point.
George Kittle, we'll see exactly what his designation ends up being on the injury report. But that's a lot of firepower that's not expected to be on the field, all of which, if I'm sitting there and I'm Mike McDonald in Seattle or I'm Jonathan Gannon in Arizona, I know there's a long way to go. You've got 15 more games. The 49ers seem to go through this cycle all the time. Every other year, they'll have a very healthy year or just a total disaster of injuries. This so far looks like the disaster of injuries type of year. But you've got to think, hey, we might have a little bit of an opening, especially with the way the Cardinals looked on offense last week. And Seattle, even with still putting a lot of pressure on the Cardinals, they're going to have a lot of still kind of growing. It's not entirely pretty at this point.
They've done enough to win so far for a new coach. And what about Jordan Love? He was practicing in pads and he called himself hopeful. What do you know about him right now? So he's been out there all three days.
That's generally a good sign. It seems like the Packers are historically a very conservative medical team. But the fact that he's able to go out there and go through as much as he is would indicate that he's largely got a green light, at least in terms of testing that injury in practice. In the end, Jordan Love also has to make a decision here because the advice, the medical staff can clear him.
But if he doesn't feel like I can function, I can protect myself, then frankly, he shouldn't put himself onto the field. Matt Leflore has already said they're going to take this all the way up until 90 minutes before kickoff. I would anticipate that by tomorrow morning, Leflore is going to have a really good idea who his starting quarterback is going to be. Last week, Rich, everybody thought it was just pure gamesmanship, but they really thought, hey, if Jordan Love wakes up feeling good on Sunday morning with no practice, we'll play him.
The same goes here. Now he's actually getting some of those practice reps, how he feels through, how his body responds, how the knee responds to three days of practice is going to guide a lot of that here. In the end, if the medical staff signs off, it's going to come down to Jordan Love. The original timetable was three to six weeks. This would be like 15 days, 16 days after the injury.
Certainly on the bottom end of that timeline, but they were always optimistic. Other guys play with MCL sprains. You can brace it up.
You just got to make sure. It's probably not going to get worse. That's the thing about MCL sprains, particularly for quarterbacks, but you got to make sure you can go out there and function, not put yourself at risk of taking a different type of hit that might give you another injury. From January all the way through to August, all we talked about were how the Cowboys reacted to getting boat raced out of the playoffs at home by the Packers and last week's loss to New Orleans had the same markings, essentially. How are the Cowboys spending their week rebounding with the Ravens desperate at 0-2 coming in, Tom? Mike McCarthy's really good at pushing the buttons with his team when they've had a poor performance. You've seen that a number of times since he got to Dallas.
He obviously saw it in Green Bay. Usually when they have that type of totally flat performance, they come out the following week and they play well. Obviously, you'd like to avoid the type of performance they had last week against the Saints.
I agree. That felt like the Packers game where you had a sense in the first quarter like this is bad and it's not going to get better for that team. Injury-wise, they've obviously had some big names pop up on the report this week.
I was told the moment that C.D. popped up with the ankle injury, this is not anything significant. I know Jerry Jones was on the radio like he is practically every day and said that he's not concerned with it. Trevon Diggs also, same thing, sounds like he's going to be okay for the game. So, they're a little bit nicked up, but overall they're healthy here. Mike McCarthy's never been a just scream at the guys all week type of coach, but he is going to push them.
He is going to challenge them as men to come out and put something better on tape. You're going up against a Ravens team that arguably has more on the line than you do. I mean the Ravens, I don't believe, have ever started 0-3. Not under John Harbaugh anyway. They've only started 0-2 a couple of times here. You're really putting yourself in a hole if you lose this game. For Dallas, you're not really in a hole in the division because, frankly, the whole division right now seems like it's got some issues here, but that would be a big win. They need that type of signature win coming off of the loss that they just had to the Saints.
I fully expect, again, based on McCarthy's history, they're going to come out and play well. Tom Pelissero here on the Rich Eisen Show. Any sense how the Chiefs are going to split up the carries with Isaiah Pacheco out? Kareem Hunt is not playing. He's on the practice squad. They just signed him.
Is this an NBC Sunday night debut of the Carson Steele show? I mean, what do we got, Tom? We've already had a lot of Carson Steele here, Rich. Going back to the preseason, he was not just because of the hair but because of how he played. We've seen a little bit of him. He had the fumble last week, but they put him right back into the game, which shows that they've got a level of trust that you don't often see in a guy who's an under-afted rookie coming out and joining the team.
I would expect you to see a lot of Samaj P. Ryan as well. He's a steady back. He's played a lot of football. He's good in pass protection. This is also Rich, and I don't mean to be reductive about one of the greatest coaches in NFL history, but Andy Reid really doesn't want or need to run the ball a lot.
It's always been the thing everybody said is, you know, he would pass the ball 70 times a game if he could. They might do that. Not 70, but they might just throw the heck out of the ball this week against the Falcons here. They've obviously, Atlanta's got a veteran secondary.
I would anticipate that they're going to challenge them. They've got so much speed around Patrick Mahomes. There's other ways, you know, one way that you can make up for the run game you don't have it is you just get the ball onto the perimeter to your playmakers and those are almost, you know, the bubbles and the smokescreens. Those are almost like running type of plays.
So, I would anticipate that they cook up some things like that. If you see some more of those reverses and the easy touches, the manufactured touches for guys like Xavier Worthy, I fully anticipate they're going to have a plan and it's probably gonna be a pretty fun one. Quarterbacks in Chargers Steelers. Tell me about Justin Herbert's ankle and then, if you don't mind, transitioning yourself into the conversation about Justin Fields, Tom, and how Tomlin has been handling everything.
I mean, let's start with the first order of business, Justin Herbert. Justin Herbert, you know, going back to when he got banged up in the game, there was optimism that he was going to be okay but they were looking at his, you know, his foot, his ankle, his shin on the bench. The Chargers are calling it an ankle injury at this point. According to locals on the scene at practice today, he was heavily spatted up.
He had a ton of tape on that ankle. He was working on the side while everybody else was out there on the field but, you know, Justin Herbert is the type of veteran quarterback who may not need to practice in order to play. They're gonna have to make some decisions just like we've seen with other quarterbacks here in terms of do you want to roll them out this week or do you want to give them at a time you're 2-0 and you've mostly done it through the running game? Do you want to just give them a week and put Easton Stick out there? This one might be another one that really goes into Saturday and even Sunday before they make a final decision here but certainly at this point they have not ruled out Justin Herbert.
And in terms of the Steelers, it's going to be Justin Fields again this week. You've heard Mike Tomlin repeatedly say, you know, his participation is not to an extent that we need to consider it and so hypotheticals are a waste of time. Those are Tomlinisms for we're going to keep, you know, easing this guy back because we're playing winning football and why put him on the field before he's 100%? I would say this to the extent that some people are going to say, you know, hey Justin Fields may never give the job back, you know, why would they pull him out? That's true right now in the short term but remember they've also scored 31 points total over the first two games. They're not going up and down the field. I know they had some penalties that called things back last week but this is not like a dominant offense. Absolutely Justin Fields is playing the way that they wanted Russell Wilson to which is protect the football, don't make the big mistakes, don't turn it over, rely on the ground game, rely on the defense and that's going to be enough to get you by in a lot of cases here but they also haven't had to play from behind. They haven't been in a situation where Justin Fields has to drop back and win a game with his arm.
That in my mind leaves the door open here. I still believe we're probably going to see Russell Wilson at some point this season as long as they're winning there's reason to believe that they'll continue to roll with Justin Fields but they do want to see that offense play better here and so this is going to very much remain it seems a week-to-week type of situation. Is Tua traveling with the Dolphins to Seattle, Tom? Tua is traveling to Seattle for the game this weekend.
He's been according to all the quotes from players in a lot of the meetings and he's been around the facility. Raheem Mostert said today that they went to Disney World together which I'm hoping Tua has the wherewithal to not get on you know Space Mountain or something. Yeah Mr. Toad's wild ride or a six hour plane flight from from Miami to Seattle doesn't sound like the first orders of business for somebody who was IR'd for a concussion in the fourth of his career. I'm not making light of it Tom but like what's up?
Like what what what is up? Well first of all a less serious no Rich I would say the fact you're citing Mr. Toad's wild ride would indicate to me as somebody's been to Disney several times that you're on the high roller list where you pay to make sure you can get to the front of those lines not just the pass to get you halfway. I chose it I chose a a herky jerky ride one that can have quick twists and turns that one would say that's a long line for Mr. Toad's wild ride. I've never been on it. I don't have 90 minutes with my kids in the line. It would throw off anyone's equilibrium Tom you know it's you know like it's a small world would be something that would be for the speed of somebody that you would think doesn't need to be on any rides and I'm like I said though like what's up what's the scoop with this thing? My understanding is I mean two has already traveled to visit at least one specialist so in terms of plane travel it's something he did back in 2022 he flew to go visit the specialists as well you know the the treatment of concussions has progressed it's no longer go sit in a dark room for a week there's different things that they do through the course of the process here and so you know yeah the Disney trip is a little bit of a you know perhaps a red herring in all this but the fact that he's traveling with the team you have to take it as a positive because it means that the team doctors have cleared him to do so you know there's no rush room to pass through the concussion protocol here which would involve clearance by an independent neurologist he's on injured reserve that means that he's not planned for four games which goes beyond because they also have a bi-week that's in that stretch as well here but you know I said this on Monday Rich there's no reason to believe that Tua won't pass through the concussion protocol it's all this additive stuff that he's going to be doing in terms of evaluating with specialists and talking with his family here the bottom line is if he is told that he has a healthy brain then there's reason to believe that he is going to push forward here and be back on the field quite likely later on this season they're not there yet that's why he's continuing to gather the information and the dolphins put him on IR not because there was no way he could have been cleared before the bi-week and gotten back in three games but more so because they want him to take his time they want to take as Mike McDaniel put it the stress the anxiety away of talking about his future in football terms here they really want to give him some time he's got the next month but he's staying engaged with the team which is one more sign that this is a guy who fully intends when he gains the medical clearance to be back on the football field two last ones for you Tom Pellisara you're reporting on David Tepper's hand or role in the benching of Bryce Young is what my understanding is you know to give you the timeline going back to Sunday Dave Canales goes to the podium after the game after another just brutal performance all around not just by Bryce Young but by the offense the defense is super undermanned they've given up a lot of points here the whole thing has not looked good for the first two weeks he's asked repeatedly about is Bryce going to start is he going to play in Vegas Dave Canales says Bryce is our quarterback that night Canales goes and he starts watching the tape and what he sees is not somebody who in his mind should be starting NFL games right now and so he comes in the office the next morning he does speak with Dan Morgan that was a conversation that was ongoing for about you know the 24 hours leading up to the final decision certainly we're talking about benching the guy who is the number one overall pick that you traded up for in the draft like 17 months ago that's going to involve a conversation at the ownership level with David Tepper but this was Dave Canales's decision here and Rich as you peel back the layers on this a little bit I think that you have a situation where Dave Canales and I've not talked directly to Dave about this but you seem to have a situation where when you're a new coach and you're trying to gain the credibility in the locker room you don't have the success out of the gate here you're thinking about the dynamics of a player basically being on the field because he's on scholarship and Bryce Young was playing because he was the number one overall pick Dave Canales has brought in in part because they needed to get Bryce Young turned around and everything we heard from Canales he came on the insiders back in March and talked about breaking it down in terms of the footwork how they're going to rebuild him from the ground up you watched it through the first two games I certainly don't think anyone looking objectively would say it got better you can quite possibly say it looked worse so then how after those two games are you coming back in and looking at him feeling in the eye looking Deontay Johnson in the eye looking some of those other veterans in the eye and saying we still believe Bryce Young gives us the best chance to win it's not to say that we will never see Bryce Young take a snap for the panthers again shoot he's going to address as the number two if something happens to Andy Dalton this week Young is going to be right back into the lineup but when we saw Andy Dalton on the field last year in December in Seattle he played at a pretty high level he played well him and feeling were playing what Bryce Young later called dad ball they were just you know it was two veteran savvy dudes who were connecting and they got the football around that's what they want to see you're facing Patrick Graham this week the Raiders defensive coordinator one of the toughest guys schematically to face in the NFL who just got the better of Lamar Jackson and the Ravens one week ago at least put a guy out there in Andy Dalton who you think hey this guy can get the ball to some of the other players maybe it doesn't look better maybe it's bad again and maybe they turn back to Bryce Young in the not too distant future you know the the strange part about this there's a lot of strange parts about this rich but you go back five years ago Andy Dalton after seven seasons and change as the starting quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals was benched because the Bengals at the time wanted to get a look at their rookie quarterback who was named Ryan Finley and Finley was so bad in that opportunity that he got benched again for Andy Dalton and by the way Ryan Finley never played in the NFL again was released and never never popped up again in his NFL career so Dalton has seen the other side of this he's got an opportunity go out function and he can probably buy himself another five years in the league like those those former starters who are willing to be backups too all right now the last two minutes I have with you I'll give you the floor your impressions of the first result of week three Jets and Patriots Tom what is that well I think realistically you know this is probably what the Patriots are you go back to week one and they beat the Bengals that was a Bengals team that was in a disarray that week they didn't know until game day is Jamar Chase playing is he not they designed the game plan thinking they had T Higgins and then he gets hurt on the Thursday and then suddenly you don't have him on the field either it's not excuses everybody's got injuries but that was probably not the best shot that the Bengals had plus they're facing a new coaching staff with new schemes and things um you know that was a strange game good for the Patriots that they won that game but last night you kind of saw you know these are the shortcomings of the team I heard you talking with Brockman before I came on about you know why Drake May is on the field I I had some of the same thoughts although you know low leverage situation there you're probably calling plays where you know he's not going to find himself in too much harm's way but Jacoby Brissett you know go back through Jacoby's career he's had a long career because he's well liked in the locker room because he's a tough dude and a smart dude but he's never been a winning quarterback in the NFL even a couple years ago when he got his opportunity in Cleveland you know and he drew rave reviews for just giving them a chance before you know when they didn't have Deshaun Watson on the field they won four games he went four and seven as the starter that season you know and the the shortcoming for Jacoby Brissett going back to even his starting days in Indianapolis was he'll see it he's smart enough to see it he hasn't always pulled the trigger and last night he threw for what 90 something yards in the game he's through thrown for like 360 over three games here he's never going to be a cut it loose and let guys go make the plays down the field style the quarterback Drake may ultimately is going to be that guy I thought what Gerard Mayo said today was fair which was and Alex Van Pelt reiterated this which was you know Jacoby showed grit and toughness and Drake probably benefits more from being the number two quarterback at this point on the jet side of things and rich I'm sure that you enjoyed uh last night as much as you have any primetime Jets game in about the past decade here um this was you know this reminded me and I know it's an easy comparison because they were together in Green Bay but this reminded me of Brett Favre in 2009 where the first two games of that season this was after he had gone to the Jets and suffered a season-ending injury or had a he played but he had a biceps injury um that really kind of shut him down he didn't play the same um after the the thrilling week one game against the Chad Pennington Dolphins uh in 2009 he came in and the Vikings actually won their first two games but it wasn't like light them up Favre was efficient they were on the road but it was a lot of just hand the ball off to Adrian Peterson and that was kind of the style that they played week three they played the 49ers and that was the Greg Lewis game where Favre had to go punch for punch and that was a 49ers team that entered 2-0 and he throws the Greg Lewis in the back of the end zone and you kind of went like oh like this this might be a real thing in Minnesota the the the Jets last night weren't facing that caliber of an opponent but you watched you've watched Rogers I almost just called him Favre and he kind of went like oh maybe this is the he channels it for one more season here after not wanting to go out the way that he did last year maybe this is he's got it I mean that end zone view of the the social media person shooting it on an iPhone in the corner the end zone where the ball's coming right into Garrett Wilson I mean that's that's old school Rogers he doesn't look like he moves quite the same way he is certainly not going to scramble especially after he took that hit when he didn't quite get out of bounds uh and got smacked a little bit there you know but he's still he's so smart he sees it he still has one of the quickest releases in the NFL and then he can make those types of throws a big thing for that that Jets team is going to be belief and confidence and that's kind of what waned last year even though they started out three and three they weren't dead and buried but you didn't have that level of confidence when Zach Wilson was in there when Rogers plays like that and when you've got the city behind you that as everybody knows can be a tough fan market it be it can be a tough media market all of a sudden you got some positivity surrounding the New York Jets this is what we've been waiting for is it going to be as special as that 09 viking season was right up until farv instead of settling for a 50 plus yard field goal through across his body to Tracy Porter in the AFC championship game we'll find out but it was fun to watch last night and I think it's gonna be really fun to watch the rest of the season all right who wants to say goodbye first bye tom all right tom bye brogman ladies and gentlemen tom palisano everybody not as awkward tom palisano everybody very good tommy p we'll see him on game day morning with vikings and texans take a break 844-204 okay hey um um the college football campaign my uh alma mater is taking on usc that's a pretty big game alex orgies the quarterback for the for the michigan wolverines the interesting thing is with him is he's got all the athletic ability to be the savior of this offense and the another thing is true is that a walk-on beat him out to start the season so we shall see yeah rollercoaster in between the two they shall meet with usc um who's who's syracuse taking on this week uh we play tonight actually a third friday night primetime on espn stanford in a thrilling acc match up between the bay area and upstate new york two of the dumbest mascots also a tree and an orange urban locking horn a pacific coast coast um institution against a landlocked one fantastic acc battle and that's an atlantic coast yeah unreal real excited for that uh sound by to the uh the week uh charles huff the marshall head coach talking about taking on ohio state football um i feel good about the track we're on trust me i know where we are but i feel good about the track we're on um and i feel good about the players we have um i would love to have some of those guys from ohio state too so if they want to transfer on down uh we've got a tutor uh yeah uh tutors biscuit nil all you can eat so if any of those guys that run really really fast at ohio state like tutors biscuits i promise you all you can eat all day um if you transfer here so um but yeah i mean so where do i sign the marshall well it got me to thinking that we haven't heard from you yet this year tj jefferson a rich isin show tradition yes which is what are we going to do again here so you know college football puts out their all name team every year right and now with these nil deals i know there's a lot of money floating around i think some of these kids should get so i'm trying to help them out a little bit well i already looked ohio state does not have a player named biscuit or not even a nickname of biscuit tonight they do not even not even think close to a bread product that was perfect so that that that's the idea of your nil you're trying to match names names to products correct yeah all right um go ahead hit my music let's go now by the way tours biscuits by the way you've looked at these right i was at the menu they look a little bit delicious rich i want some i want to try the duke or the shaved ham melt if we ever get a chance i'm just going to throw that out there but ohio state you mentioned them right yes ohio state does have a guy named erin nolan he's a quarterback so that just made me think any airline should be happy to pair up with him american delta united southwest jet blue spirit alaskan katar korean quantus lafonza any of them hook up with air gordon or mayor nolan rather and by the way they're in nike school so they might already have an air jordan hook up i don't know that would be kind of boring but i think uh you know one of these airlines should hook up with air nolan and now we got buffalo cruise he's an old lineman out of texas san antonio buffalo cruise k-r-u-i-z-e no i'm gonna be honest with you i tried to find the pronunciation of his name for about two days i'm champion champion johnson he doesn't even need one obviously i mean come on man if you've met me for more than five minutes you know where i wanted to go with this but i'm not gonna do it i'm not gonna do i'm not gonna do what everybody wants me to do i'm just and i'm gonna say you know because rich nobody likes the guy who has the highest layup percentage in the league right chris nobody cares that sean levenson had a great mid-range jumper they just want the three-pointers so that's why i decided to go with johnson and johnson products i thought you'd go with another one adam and eve yeah but think about this right a plethora of johnson johnson right okay very good what else benadryl motrin sudafed tylenol johnson and johnson baby powder no tears if you got a champion johnson you on fx stream on hulu back here on the program hey hey hey hi all right we're still on the air which is great news thank you roku charlie we're here where are you watching baltimore at dallas oh baby are you going to the barn i might stay at the crib yeah that's a this is this is a huge game both teams kids don't need to hear the things i might say during that game if things go off so you're good you're watching solo probably do you throw stuff if it's going bad nah i'm i'm pretty like believe it or not i'm pretty reserved because i've been resigned to the fact that i can't go out there and tackle nobody right there's only so much i can do my goodness so it's just i used to be that guy luke brockman i would throw stuff i would break stuff i would they lose on sunday rich i'd be mad till wednesday until one day i was just like what's wrong with you i've never thrown things like a remote or anything yeah i'm definitely not at the tv but just like kind of like down the yankees just finished up in seattle a three game set uh jeff nelson who's terrific on yes is in the booth and they showed when nelson was on the 95 mariners the uh famed moment where edgar plated um griffey to end the series and mattingly's career i was in redding california um as the uh as the uh local sports anchor there sitting in my apartment by myself i remember snapping it off and i sat in silence for five minutes oh yeah i did that sound like it was getting dark outside and i sat in the dark and in silence for five minutes that was me after the boon home run man i told that to cooper too i'm like i sat by myself for five minutes that was me five minutes into the packers cabo's playoff game last year five minutes at least you knew it was over you didn't wait the whole game that's true that's true i didn't have to wait till the end and uh lose by drop pass right so anthony town we're back back on the rich eisen show uh 844-204 rich is the number to dial um justin jefferson my cousin has no injury designation he's good to go yes yep justin herbert has the dreaded high ankle sprain they finally named it he's up in the air geez describe the pain is quote unquote not great not great bob status tbd yikes hmm all right changing my pick to stealers well it's not just that either it you know i'm about to give you my top five yeah games that i'm looking forward to that would change the uh that would change the starch here if it's easton stick on western pennsylvania why wouldn't it be heinecke i don't know maybe you hit him with the heinecke why not i would do that you would yeah i would yeah yeah yeah same i would but he is also listen i i just said if he he's he's also new there true you know it's also new to where he was seen easton stick play man malik willis was new to where he was and they had the running game to get through it you know who's got a running game to hopefully get through it exactly but that's uh you know the colts defense and the um steelers defense i don't believe we're in the same sentence right now in week three wow and we still haven't heard anything about kittel i know that's a certainly as you pointed out the dearth of tight end fantasy results i mean if you don't get basically kiddos one of the few titans who have scored right exactly but it's been kind of brock bowers and every isaiah likely and everybody else up with that did you see that stat last night um an amazon prime video showed multiple times that there were more feet there's more field goals scored than touchdowns through the first two weeks of the season and last week had the most field goals um in a in a week and and and the reason why i think is everybody's making 50 orders now they're trying them and making them yeah well also a touchdown passes are down 40 40 from last year to this year through two weeks passing games are the ones that take the most the longest to develop these days so all right i got my top five list my top five most intriguing matchups of week number three hit it high five one two three four five richest top five yes indeed here we go number five on this list is sunday night football let's see it let's see what happens when the chiefs take on the falcons on sunday night can the falcons have the wind at their backs that they took out of the building from philadelphia and um and use it against the chiefs the final drive where cousins was flinging it around and looked really really stout can he bring that against the can city chief's defense which loves to come after you and put you on the ground bijan they have the better run game atlanta's got the better run game uh the question is do the chiefs even need the run game as tommy p said they might throw it 70 times we'll see but i i'm looking forward to this one sunday night and it would have been uh this wouldn't have been on my list if the falcons were going to so we'll see that's number five number four what happens when the texans go and visit the two and oh vikings two and oh versus two and oh sam darnold let's not forget guys let's not forget sam darnold's mvp first three weeks as a carolina panther do you remember where his final do you remember where his final game uh of that run was it was in houston then mccaffrey got hurt and that was all she wrote and matt rule is now yada yada yada mccaffrey's now a niner matt rules at nebraska and sam darnold is now two and oh for the vikings taking on a texans team that is much better than or might be the best texans team ever how about them apples interesting yeah and again they're on the launch pad i'm not saying that's where they are they're on the launch pad i'm using houston terms we've got andre johnson on line two right now excuse me and i know jj watts on line one but he's literally texting you right now i'm sure hold on uh that's the one eastern game on pbs now this is number three if herbert plays he might not but chargers uh uh steelers two and oh versus two and oh love it let's go two of the most physical teams for the first two weeks going against each other this is the steelers home opener they won in atlanta and then one in denver this is the home opener in hindsfield for mike tomlin's two and oh steelers taking justin fields out there as a starting quarterback and there is jim harbaugh for the two and oh chargers is it going to be eastern stick it could it be hitting with the heineke or is it going to be justin herbert for the los angeles chargers and will it matter if the chargers can just run it 300 yards on the ground down your throat which would be very difficult to do in the teeth of the steelers defense but we will see that's number three on my most intriguing matchups for the rest of week number three number two we talked about it earlier with the man calling it a man calling it after the falcons wrecked the buffet in philadelphia what happens when the eagles walk into new orleans where the saints are two and oh and absolutely rampaging on offense and the eagles defense has been susceptible saquon coming in saquon and alvin camara on the same field they have combined together scored 90 million touchdowns through two weeks these guys know how to get in the end zone and we're not expecting aj brown to play in that game hurts in the super dome with an eagles team coming off still licking their wounds could have been two and oh like the saints are oh man am i looking forward to this one sunday one eastern on fox the number one i i hate to do this because i don't like feeding the machine but this is the varsity of it this is it oh me being the machine in this case yes move over burt oh and two ravens they have uh not started on three in the john harbaugh era ever i don't believe so until this cowboys just got punked at home how do they respond how do they respond lamar is coming to town how do they respond this is going to be derek henry who works out in dallas never got a call from dallas i think dallas made a mistake by not calling him i can't wait to see it tb12 in the booth late window on fox by the way uh five late window games for week number three that's my top five why not all right we'll get one more this one is so much fun in the making lions cardinals i want to see oh yeah baby let's go lions cardinals this has this has off the hook off the rails written all over it kylar murray unbelievably they sent a whole bunch of his apparel to the pro football hall of fame and he wasn't the nfc offensive player of the week and the lions could have been 2-0 if the bucks um you know if they if they had made a few plays against the bucks including a real um brain fart by their coach towards or their offensive unit or their whatever whatever caused the uh uh special team group to run on the field at the end of the first half of that game lions cardinals both one and one this is going to be fun it's going to be off the off the hook i think highest total a week so okay there you go and by the way as i mentioned seven early five late how do you handle that big piece of business you combine nfl sunday ticket with youtube tv and you pop up that multi-view feature you get to watch four games at once that's how you handle seven early and five late on your docket it's awesome you just combine it together bundle it together get the most live nfl games all in one place sign up
