Joining us on Mondays the host of the Chris Long the pardon me the Greenlight Pod with Chris Long is Chris Long himself. How are you Chris? Rich how are we doing man?

I'm great man. We got a week one in the NFL season almost in the books here. What stands out to you?

I'll go macro first. What stands out to you from the first few games? How hard it is to watch 14 hours of football 40 years old.

I think it's like it's an age thing just like when you play in the league it's like every year like man this gets harder and harder. I was wiped after last night especially we got free football last night. I guess for me we learned a lot in the first two prime time games and you know as much as you can in week one because you had two two three four of the best teams in the league playing and everybody's holding their breath and they're waiting to see the Bengals play for one and they lay an egg. I just got done watching that tape and I just I don't want to make it all about the Bengals they always start slow that sort of thing it's not like you know Baltimore looked great the other night although they lost to Kansas City which is a much different thing. The Bengals start slow they didn't look great at times more than anything New England just had a great game plan and stuck to it. I think Jarod Mayo deserves a ton of credit Alex Van Pelt like the whole group it wasn't rocket science but they didn't outsmart themselves I mean they got in 13 personnel you know with three tight ends in there one of those being a big tackle that they'd put in as a as a big tight end right so they're just trying to collapse the edge down and make those guys tackle on the edge of Cincinnati guys I don't mean the defensive line I mean guys like Hill and they just kept giving the ball to Stevenson and in situations they go empty they get their matchups and man they run little in cuts and it was just they they didn't get bored doing the the simple things and that's very New England it really is and I think Jarod Mayo is going to be a heck of a coach proud of him draft class of 2008 Virginia native just a tremendous guy and you can see them as they kind of let them in post game you would think you were in like somebody's sarcophagus like it was like such a rare look into something they were like oh my god let's go to the Patriots locker room you know what I mean rich yeah they were nuts and it didn't disappoint because Jarod Mayo seems authentically him and it seems like those players really have his back it was just great and the offense didn't didn't perform well for the Bengals but they're also missing T Higgins they're adjusting to a new back in the backfield Guseki seems to be like he's going to be an exciting target for him listen if they tie that game 7-7 on that Guseki ball which was beautiful they also had Irwin on a crosser the play before Duggar got depth kind of closed that window the play that everybody's going to remember is the Tanner Hudson play the very next play after that Guseki ball that just came in complete Duggar's also there to force that and I can't talk about the the Patriots defense without talking about Keon White a guy I've been really high on for two years he looked like the best player on the field so when when it's all said and done because usually we wait until like weeks two three or four if we get you to do the levels of concern for Chris Long you would put the Bengals in terms of level of concern below the Raiders maybe or a team oh for sure I mean like you know relative to the expectations maybe there's concern but you know with the history in context like who the Bengals have been early in seasons this is Joe's first full preseason I thought he might look a little better but he's still coming off that injury the Raiders I don't expect too much out of them this year you know what I mean the defense is going to be stingy but the quarterback plays the quarterback play not to be dismissive of Gardner Minshew I think he's a lot of fun to watch but it's not like he's surrounded by a whole lot other than number one it may be two exciting tight ends which is enough for some very good quarterbacks but I don't know what about the Browns based on their performance what's your level of concern there for the Browns cooked cooked yeah like I mean rich wait I know we're not supposed to do this and like I'm going into my show and I have a mantra this morning it is week one yes right yeah but not with the Browns because Joe Flacco ain't walking through that door you you let him walk unless all right I like to be fair but I'm not a fool Cleveland the biggest fly on the wall to me like what what's the what was this view like everybody in that organization you know how long training camp is I mean it's not as long as it used to be but it's long enough for you to see a train coming down the tracks for like weeks and I feel like there must be a sense in that building that like they knew this was coming I don't know if they knew how low the floor was and Dallas just exposed it because of the rush and that sort of thing and you're down two tackles but Deshaun doesn't look physically right he doesn't look mentally right how we got here that's for another conversation but I look at this and I if you're Cleveland you have to be saying the guys that made the gamble on bringing him in they got to be it's like I've been there in a sports book not with my life savings on the line but like watching the dumb bet I made go up in flames and I got to feel like they're feeling like that in real time there's no escape and they they actually burnt their only exit which is the Joe Flacco thing now I don't want to take anything away from Jamis Winston maybe he revives his career we've seen it happen with Gino Smith and that sort of thing but Cleveland looked rough I think they they gave up four scoring drives in like 11 minutes in the second quarter it was like they couldn't even get to the half they'd have the ball five plays and managed to eat up 40 seconds of clock it was like the coaches were shocked how hard it was to run the offense well in terms of the offensive line though Chris no doubt and and and that's where you know with Dallas's defense and the way Mike Zimmer had these guys all fired up and Micah Parsons looked stupendous and the line for the Browns was difficult to protect you put this on Deshaun though because there were times I'm with you where he would just throw for Amari Cooper in the end zone and the ball hit the back wall or he'd be looking for Judy on the sideline and it damn near hit the kicking net you know what I mean like those are the some of the throws I was just looking around saying wow that is way off there was another time he took one right in the chops put it right in Cooper's hands and it went through his hands yeah he dropped it that was the kind of game it was not that that would have made any difference I think their only shot was to maybe get that pick that they did they didn't come up with early or fall on the strip sack because that game was never going to play out the way they wanted it to play down multiple scores when they gave up those scores before the half it was like there's no escape you know Greg Williams used to say lock the gates we got him for 60 minutes like they can't get out and Greg interestingly who actually works in the media in Cleveland now he was probably thinking yesterday watching that game like the gates are locked on the Browns like they can't get out and it was it was painful to watch but you're saying that the gates are locked on Deshaun's contract so you put this on on number four right here well well let me I'm not balking at answering the question in one word for any reason other than I want I want you guys to understand me exactly and clearly yes sir it is on anybody who had a say in bringing it up a in bringing him to Cleveland it is on Deshaun in the context of the game but it's not like he could have done anything different I really think at this point that's who he is I don't I don't know if physically he's shot when you you go back Rich you got I know you like to say I don't have any people it's just me but you know tell your stat guys yes sir to look up how many times Deshaun Watson was hit and sacked over the first few years of his career compared to Joe Burrow compared to Andrew Luck I think it's more and it was hidden so well because he had such success and he was so electric but he took a beating and so there was obviously the off the field stuff which were all kind of like hey there's some people that never want to give him a chance again there's some people like myself who whatever happens happens man you know I don't I don't feel you know too bad for a guy that got that kind of deal coming off what happened and then there's people that probably aren't looking at it as clearly as the people who added that that statistic up I mean we did it a year ago and it was eye-opening how many times he got hit and in Houston so well everybody's like hey is it morally the right thing to bring him in he might have been like scrap metal and and I look at him now and I'm like I don't know if his arms shot or what but his mind's definitely not right either he has no confidence and yeah two tackles are down but this is a team we were like well they got a great roster this is like a Super Bowl kind of roster the question is just the quarterback and DeJuan Jones got some see y'all told me not y'all but the Browns the tape told me that DeJuan Jones could could hold up last year so you're down a tackle you're down a running back you know and maybe that's what we we should come to expect from a team like that and and joku's down now I just don't think there's anybody coming to the rescue this defense is good enough to win some games but I just want to give Dallas credit that was the defense when you walked away that was like man they and and you know as we all kind of prepared for Dallas's demise myself included and I still think they got a lot to prove to not be the same team in the postseason rich but as far as what they put on the field yesterday the first 10 minutes of that game offensively there were a lot of wow moments where it was like oh Zeke can still hurdle guys lambs slicing and dicing people Dak who got the contract very happy for that guy the person and the player because yesterday he looked like he deserved it for Dak the questions are going to be asked in December and January if he looks like this this team's going to be fine and hand up if I was praying or forecasting their demise because Zimmer looks like he's got the defense humming you know that that is again a pretty anemic group offensively but that rush was incredible yesterday and Kendrick's coming up with a big play when you look back at Zimmer in Minnesota it makes a lot of sense making a leap of logic that they might actually be just as good on defense this year Chris Long the host of the green light pod with Chris Long right here on the Rich Eisen show so you mentioned how you you learned a lot from the first two nationally televised games Thursday opening night Friday as well the Sunday action in relation to what we saw from the Chiefs on opening night which team we saw Houston perform what they did in Indianapolis we saw also obviously the the bills coming from behind against Arizona at home we saw Miami struggling offensively against Jacksonville which looked pretty darn good up until the very end of that game any first blush sense as to who might be able to knock the Chiefs off 16 17 18 weeks from now or is this still too early to have this conversation Chris I mean I would have told you this two days ago but the Texans have got that chance um you know I think the Chiefs are going to see better offenses you know and that's not to say Lamar's not spectacular but they didn't do anything to help in this offseason three offensive linemen you got to replace those guys that look like a problem they're going to have to work through that right you got to find a way to get likely the ball more um you know Zay Flowers hasn't been spectacular yet uh but it's very early I just don't look at that group and say like hey they're going to be able to outscore KC although they almost did but you know as much as we made about Baltimore playing really poorly like Kansas City still played like drunk Kansas City last year they just were like a fun drunk you know the minute Xavier worthy and I said this the other night on YouTube on my little breakdown yeah I will always remember where I was when Xavier worthy touched a football on national tv in the NFL like it was one of those moments where I was like oh my god I was like oh he's gonna get the ball oh this will probably be a three-yard game but we'll be like wow he's fast and then he took off and I haven't seen anybody run like that I mean I know some people are gonna be chill out Tyreek was just there and that sort of thing but I remember the way that offense looked with that kind of a speed advantage outside now you've got guys in Hollywood Brown when he comes back who actually can run routes and I don't mean that relative to Tyreek I mean like you know he had MVS last year with a lot of speed but now you got guys who can run the whole route tree the offensive line looks pretty strong I think Kansas City is going to be right back in that in that spot you know in in the championship game with a chance to go to the Super Bowl there's some teams in week one we overthink and we might like have wrong but Kansas City has done this long enough that they look like a better team and I think the Texans just on strength of that quarterback the what they did to their roster that's a really tough division game they played yesterday uh and like the third and 11 at the end of the game CJ shroud some of the circus throws he makes unbelievable I also don't sleep on the bills man okay you know because I watched that game was enthralled with that game I don't know about anybody else and uh and I just you know seeing them get jumped 17-3 the defense is obviously a little bit different um Josh played really well as the game got going he missed one or two balls late but I think he can he converted well he completed his first nine or ten throws and there were just a ton of moments with his legs with the checks he got them into in the red zone Khalil Shakir is a hero I mean that dude there were multiple plays yesterday that if he doesn't make them if he doesn't break a tackle they're not getting the two for one before and out of the half they're not scoring late on that screen um you know he was just great and Keon Coleman has got some body control man when I went up to camp and talked to Josh Allen he talked about body control he compared him to Mike Thomas some of those guys and he could just you could tell he's glowing with having this guy and when he made that catch on the right sideline late in the game I was like wow they might have something they actually haven't had before now I'm not trying to sell sell you something because I picked the bills to win the east but what I am saying is the offense looks fine the thing we got to get shaken out is the defense and they played a very good group in Arizona yesterday not for nothing Arizona every team that's going to play Arizona play Arizona this year is going to walk in the locker room and say if you won it's like that was a hell of an offense I mean Kyler Murray played great you know and Petzing called a great game the one thing he probably wants back is that kicking a field goal late in the game I that was an incredible game for those of y'all who watched it there were a lot of great games I know we were all watching Caleb Williams but there were a lot of great games when Caleb Williams yes I was going to ask you about that before I let you go Chris the the rookies and uh what we saw out of uh Caleb and and obviously Jaden Daniels Bo Nix I mean you talk about a very difficult spot to play in in week one I would imagine Seattle has to be it but I'll give you the floor on that before I let you go well listen I want to give credit to Denard Wilson's defense in Tennessee I'm not going to make this about heaping you know criticism on Caleb Wilson or Caleb Williams who I don't expect Patrick Mahomes year one that might be some some people listening to this so I'm not going to like hugely overreact um I think he's going to come on and make some special throws this year but like what did you expect week one in May when we were looking at the schedule I was like I'm betting this game I'm betting the titans and of course my dumb ass lost the bet but I felt like I was on the right side the entire game if you watch that game Denard that defense they were humming and Caleb couldn't make the throws it's week one okay like timing looks suspect for a lot of quarterbacks so this isn't me burying him but if you're expecting Patrick Mahomes you're going to be disappointed you know it's it's it's week one of the NFL season I think the timing on some of those goal go balls is an issue I think sometimes taking something off for him is going to be a struggle because he's got such a strong arm and he does have some special talents but you know leave it to Will Levitt hand him his first NFL victory I mean some of the plays that and I Leviss was so gutsy in so many spots but at the same time to give them the game like that towards the end in a couple spots was just you know if that team's going to win games this year they got to play within themselves when he's back there throwing the football you can still run you can still do the varsity blues thing Will Leviss but you can't do the Brett Favre thing you're not Brett Favre you know and so I was impressed with Denard Wilson I was impressed with some of the play calling offensively for the titans I thought Callahan did a really nice job through the middle of that game I haven't gotten to the Bucks game had it on my small tv okay you know the the buzz is that Jaden hung tough I think the Buccaneers are the best team in the NFC south I think we saw that yesterday if you're if you're making it a two-horse race but New Orleans probably has something to say about that yeah and then Bo Nix obviously was in a tough spot in Seattle and you know for sure yeah he was checking it down quite a bit but I I I got a lot of heat man on x for saying that there's a lot to like about him I I don't know man I just kind of like the fact that he he he took the chops it didn't seem like he was you know um the it just I he just passed the eye test for me many times yesterday I don't know I know he's checking Charlie but really you know I don't think anybody should get buried over a week one quarterback take unless it's like totally hyperbolic you know um and you also have to keep in mind last year CJ Stroud who to me is one of the best five quarterbacks in the NFL right now yep uh looked like a human being week one I mean of course he was playing the Ravens but you know this is something where you need a bigger sample size on all these guys and if you have hope and reason to believe as a Broncos fan I don't think you're crazy because they look tough for a lot of the day and I thought the Seahawks got it out as well I mean like they couldn't have started much worse um you know I got to dig into the all 22 on that game but it you know like they kept the points down while the offense kept got it going and uh and that's a tough place to play if you're a rookie quarterback Chris you're the man uh I didn't even hit sake oh oh oh oh I can't come on this show well hold on and talk about Sam Darnold okay no I just I just want to say this I'll give you I'll give you the floor I was going to go Saquon since you know he plussed up the Eagles quite a bit but that that was let's let's do Saquon but just on the record we did mention Sam Darnold and how damn good he looked and I for one am not surprised let's talk about Saquon Barkley no no listen Sam and you want to talk about uh exercising ghosts he went into the place where he famously saw ghosts yeah and and took care of business he was terrific but yeah but you know I'm I'm not surprised either obviously Kevin O'Connell's great and you know Justin Jefferson's no slouch to throw to and Aaron Jones looked great too so the Vikings deserve the flowers there but I I would be remiss if I didn't bring up Saquon to you and what what you think like that's not an outlier right like this is this is him and behind this line and this offense and and this is what we're going to see this year I think health wise too let me put on my green glasses here okay so you know I'm a little bit I'm a little bit of a homer but um I also I also they weren't they weren't a very good team last year at the end of the season so like that was obvious they were sliding they got better um that's one thing you can say about that team immediately I thought Kellen Moore you know Saquon was I'm so happy for Saquon as a dude as a player I've been on a bad franchise where you know like we're winning one game a season or two games a season you know the our ceiling seven and that was my career in St. Louis and so I can definitely and I was never Saquon you know while I was like I'm wasting some talent like this guy's wasting a lot of talent in New York and to see him get an opportunity knowing the kind of guy he is not not personally but hearing about him seeing how happy he looked after the game I just really want this to work out and I think it is going to work out and I think it's the perfect marriage for for both groups I mean you think about Howie Rosen who hadn't invested in the running back room and then he goes and gets the guy and I think Kellen Moore was great there was a lot of pre-stamp motion they were under center some um there was there were hot answers versus the blitz like this group got better schematically immediately and I thought the guys in the back end hung tough Mitchell who they really like hung tough he dropped the deep over like at some point in the game late but generally very very good and uh Zach Bond you know people like oh Devin White didn't get on the plane Zach Bond did a terrific job in all phases of the game uh he's gonna be a kind of like an unexpected star for them you know Howie's brought in veteran free agents before that people were like oh they're gonna make a difference but maybe this guy makes a huge difference and then same thing the front with the hidden plays you know in the red zone forcing a hold um you know BG nine and the young kid 97 forcing Jordan Love to throw the ball to the back of the end zone late in that game force a field goal Jalen Carter was really disruptive okay like the injury was totally unfortunate um and certainly not dirty for anybody I read some about hey I was dirty like you people have never been on the ground scratching and clawing for your livelihood with a hand around a guy's ankle you don't know who's on top you're just you're just trying to get the person down um Jalen Carter is disruptive as hell Jordan Davis had a nice day so I do think the Eagles got better and and they're exciting it just you watch Dallas and you're like okay it is a truly a two-horse race because Dallas looks like they're they're pretty good you're the man Chris Long I know you got your show the green light pod with Chris Long check it out wherever you get your podcasts and on YouTube your channel correct Chris that's right you're the man anytime you need me you know that anytime I appreciate it brother uh I appreciate go blue I'm listen all good man I am dining off of 2023 the rest of my life you've got you're like a Virginia basketball fan no amount of UMBC you know it couldn't hurt me all right you're the best Chris take care of yourself that's Chris Long everybody check out the green light with Chris Long pod wherever you get your pods and of course on YouTube love that guy so much to think about just real quick before we throw it a break here um so much made of Jordan Love's injury and the field in in Brazil the field in Brazil wasn't great okay let's be honest and and the the thing with these international games is a lot of these fields that they're playing on are soccer fields and that makes for a slicker surface because the the soccer ball they they want it to yeah you know kind of skid right and so players are now skidding and it seems like these games that are played on these international fields the first quarter of it is is kind of a a guessing game on on on what sort of studs you should be wearing on your cleats right and and so that's why in Tottenham where the first two London games are the NFL has created a turf for those games that they they they put out at Tottenham for the games and then then put away for the league than to use for future years so there's that now you may have a problem I think the Bills had a problem with that turf last year to begin with that said you take a look at the Jalen Carter takedown of of Jordan Love it's not because of the turf at all I don't know why people were saying terrible turf and Jordan Love's now hurt yeah that made no sense they were not they were not related they was Jalen Carter related he was kind of sitting on his ankle and yeah and then turn and you just heard from Chris Long exactly what happened and why that's not a dirty hit but hey listen I know it's tough it's a tough pill for Packers fans to swallow that it was their turn for their starting quarterback to go down early this year but at least it's not for the full year like like Love's predecessor we'll take a break somebody's missing from practice today what's up with that 844-204 Rich number to dial here on the Rich Isaac show let's talk by one of their local branches the victory moment in locker rooms after week one I loves checking them out especially when it's a guy that I'm rooting for here's Jim Harbaugh in his moment of victory yesterday. I just want to say uh on behalf of all the new newcomers to the charges you know myself uh and everybody else on behalf of them I just want you to know we're the lucky ones we're the lucky ones the worm has turned the worm has burned so what two game balls to give out two game balls all right okay coach Harbaugh we got a lot of work to do now and you can't you can't get more work done you won't make as much progress in the entire season as you will from week one to week two I'm telling you this is the week to attack but you can't get the two and oh without being one of them who's got it better than there you go that's the moment of victory as posted by the Chargers uh staff right there also missing from that was him taking the game ball that he just received from uh the spanoses and uh announcing a game ball for JK Dobbins and gave the one that the Chargers owner just gave him and he goes I'm gonna have to get that back later I'll give you I think Jim was blacked out basically after that win back on the Rich Eisen show right now we just showed to our Roku Sports Channel audience the video of the Chargers celebrating with Jim Harbaugh in the locker room and lots to celebrate about there listen I I understand that when Justin Herbert plays you want what you expect when the Chargers to win you need to see 350 yards at him and they're going vertical and they're going three four wides and they're gonna beat you and he's just gonna be like Josh Allen right right he'll run you over he'll do all that stuff you can do all that maybe those days will come but right now the way the Chargers are currently built to beat you is the way they beat the Raiders which is to beat them up guys we've been doing this show for 10 years right how many times do you see the Chargers not only beat you up but not beat themselves uh never in this you know what I mean in the same game they beat you up they win they win the physical battle they whip you in the line of scrimmage on the offensive side of the ball and then go ahead and not beat themselves it's rare now they didn't whip the Raiders in the line of scrimmage from the very beginning the Raiders one thing that they showed let me tell you something the idea of putting Max Crosby and Christian Wilkins together is a stroke of genius and they're gonna win games with that but right now they need to figure stuff offensively out and when you've got Gardner Minshew right now potentially learning the offense and learning how to play with everybody and they're you're getting up to speed you know the running game with Zamir White didn't look all that stout Alexander Madison made a nice play for the touchdown for the Raiders but right now if you're going to get into a mosh pit with the Chargers the Chargers are going to win a lot of them and I don't know how many times you could say that about them I mean Jim took a defensive lineman took 99 off him and put 44 on him and turn him into a fullback that's the way that they're going to try and beat you and some days it's going to be Gus Edwards Greg Roman said it's going to be the hot hand like yesterday it was JK Dobbins yeah they both had the same number of carries 10 for Dobbins 11 for Edwards you know JK just had that one monster run obviously 61 yards he was hot it was really well well that's when the dam broke in the second half yeah but Justin Herbert 144 yards that's not no it's not sustainable well here's the deal man I gotta keep winning games when he only has the Chargers are next at Carolina that should be a blowout here's one that I'm not here's one that I'm really looking forward to at Pittsburgh home for Kansas City I mean the Chargers are now a team that has been rebuilt with brass knuckles and you don't normally associate that with a Southern California team you just don't but for the first time in those days when Phil when Philly Rive would go into your house and beat you right with some well helps with some of his brass best running back in the league and also future hall of fame tight end who for some reason isn't in yet in Antonio Gates that junior obviously but they got some players right now who are really really tough-nosed and Jim's that's what he's all about this is Jim Harbaugh about the team's culture after the win no the culture's already like I think I was just alluding to that I mean the culture is already here I mean and all the new guys I think have really and we stepped into it and we're the lucky ones this is a it's a great great bunch of guys and you know cultures this good culture here is is is work I mean they they ask no quarter they give no quarter they give no quarter they're I mean they're everything you want I mean they they you know the team is important you know Justin doesn't Herbert through 400 whatever he doesn't he doesn't care Derwin James just wants to win Clem Mack just wants to win these guys are these guys are winners and so I mean what was being done here before is just man I feel like I stepped into that and the lucky one stepping into this kind of culture and the crazy thing is the culture that you know he stepped into at Michigan we all know the culture was there forever he helped build it for all those years with Bo right and so for him to say the culture's already here I think that's a Harbaugh thing to say I don't think he said that when he went to San Francisco but that's a very gym thing to say right here to say hey I I'm I'm just being humble the guys here are they really the guys who are doing it but the crazy thing is two of the guys who helped do it yesterday I said it before I'm going to repeat it here when Jim first showed up at Michigan and things started looking good before it turned south against Michigan state and Ohio state and Jim was watching urban just steamroll over Michigan and a lot of folks were wondering if Jim was the right guy or not for the job which you know I never wavered but that's neither here nor there but the reason why I'm bringing it up is two of the guys that helped put Michigan and him in that hole were Joey Bosa and JK Dobbins and unbelievably strange bedfellows those two guys were a major part of getting Harbaugh his first win as a coach at the Los Angeles Chargers it's unbelievable Matt can't make this stuff up I'm at the Rich Eisen show desk furnished by Grange with supplies and solutions for every stranger has the right product for you call clickgranger.com or just stop by the only thing that I thought hurt Lamar Jackson on Thursday night was just the bruised eagle of losing I mean him saying after the game that he thought it was still a touchdown when Isaiah likely's foot was definitely on the line and that's how the Ravens lost an opportunity to win it with a two-point conversion because their our boss got tenure in stones too you know that I thought that's all it was but he wasn't a practice today the visible portion of it what's up with that Jameson Hemsley who covers the team talked about he played the entire game I mean he counted for 395 total yards Harbaugh's John Harbaugh is going to talk to the team at the end of our show today and we'll find out what's going on there but not present during present during Monday's practice keep an eye on that Ravens versus Raiders in the Ravens home opener as things get tougher for the Las Vegas Raiders I mean again the two teams that did not come out of the draft with a quarterback when they needed to come out of the draft with a quarterback both watched their quarterbacks perform in a way that was suboptimal you know suboptimal and Gardner Minshew will get more cracks at it and remarkably Brian DeBolt was asked the question he had to say yeah Daniel Jones is starting for us in week two because there's questions about it oh yeah and Adam Schefter even said that earlier today on ESPN he's said to Pat on Pat's show that you got to say it's for week two because that's real it's real and so that's what's going on when the Giants face Washington in week two already looking over the steering wheel some pretty big games with some folks staring an 0-2 start right in the face and those are the latest stories right here on the week one Monday of 2021 2024 when we come back eight four four two oh four rich number two down we'll finish up this show get you ready for Monday Night Football sam darnold baby sam darnold that showed up as the mvp of the first three weeks of his carolina panther season behind current yeah red hot nebraska head coach matt rule that's the guy who showed up yeah i don't know i'm trying not to overreact to the bad and so in the same token i don't want to overreact to some of the good we saw but same with good baker mayfield i thought was maybe the best quarterback of sunday he played some really great football he did man i know washington's defense is probably going to be swiss cheese all year but he looked great tampa derek carr look i said the same thing would be terrible and he was going to be benched by halloween yeah and uh now now spencer rattler ago it is derek carr yeah a lot of saints fans i mentioned yesterday okay derek carr looked great well it was an overreaction monday subject of course it was of course i mean come on people don't read him but but but again you have to play the teams that are in front of you and you have to destroy them right if you can right and they did and carolina looks like they're going to be top five in the draft again and so you got to do that to them but the the the offense last year was uh pete carr michael coordinated in new orleans and that was the final vestige of the sean payton era right and they brought in son of gary clint kubiak who must have definitely gotten together and one would think any offensive corner with his quarterback and say what makes you comfortable this is what makes this what i'm comfortable at coordinating let's figure it out and alvin camara still looks like alvin camara and i imagine rahid shahid will be one of the red hot waiver wire pickups of week number two no doubt if he wasn't already drafted in your league no doubt who did they play again they play the cowboys next they play the panthers yeah back here on the rich isin show we talked earlier about the multiview how great was that i created my own multiview yesterday it was awesome that was my biggest gripe last year was you couldn't create your own multiview right you have to do that well they fixed it yeah and don't miss a moment of the action with nfl sunday ticket and youtube tv when you bundle it together you do get the most live nfl games all in one place that multiview feature again it's you can watch four games at once and you can choose which games you want to watch so you create your own multiview they have some other ones that they can create for you but you can create your one it's the one you want to watch it's awesome sign up for youtube uh sign up today at youtube.com slash nflst device and content restrictions apply local and national games on youtube tv nfl sunday ticket for out-of-market games excludes digital only games all right tj you must have been out of your mind watching yesterday right i mean you gotta be psyched you saw the cowboys they looked terrific they did i mean they did i i didn't you know i i got a little crazy what do you mean doing some defensive plays i i lost my mind cavante turban running that punt back i went a little crazy but like i mean i expected to win this game like i i was shocked that dallas was the underdog so cleveland came off of a season last year with joe flaco that put him in the playoffs and now here comes to sean watson back for the first time since we saw him against the ravens which is his best game as a as a as a browns quarterback okay you know and i don't know all this all-in stuff where they didn't improve their roster significantly and dap wasn't signed yet my problem not to interrupt you no no no sir that was our that's all we talked about all summer was dallas didn't do anything and you know we had our little graphics with you know the number of free agents sign oh they only signed five guys they didn't do anything my point being the guys they brought in put in work eric kendricks put in work yesterday with six tackles you know two sacks a pick you know so yeah we didn't add a lot of people but maybe it's because the defense didn't need a lot that defense dominated yesterday mica parsons was unstoppable tank lawrence was unstoppable well the another kid out there playing d-back like i i'd love the defense right now and you should the offense i thought i was it was a little stagnant maybe a little timing issue hopefully that'll get better yeah like offensive line play and like i said our defense balled out stephen jones said on 105.3 the fan today about mica parsons contract extensions oh man please don't let please let's not play this out right now it's certainly not anything that's on the table mica made a conscientious decision that he thinks he can put together an even better year i think he got off to a great start yesterday against the browns i think his play speaks louder than words i think he expects to have a great year under mike zimmer and then probably feel comfortable to talk about it then okay so let me tell you exactly what's going to happen they're going to pay they're going to pay top dollar for mike it's going to have 20 sacks we're going to talk about it all off season all preseason and then sunday right before week one about 30 minutes before they'll sign a new deal or they should sign them you know like right during the season's the problem well he already said he's not concerned with no as well he should not yeah it's really shouldn't lie i mean just just go out and ball out yeah but again could we not fall for the okie doke next summer but here's the okie doke is is is the following dak you could have gotten him for 60 million dollars a year you know uh you i mean you could have gotten him for for less than that 55 you could have if you did it like last year you could have set the standard that everyone else would then have to overpay you're ahead of the game then the other teams are the ones overpaying now you're not in a position to have to set the new standard of 60 million a year and the bottom line is too don't forget deshawn watson who you know he's going to have a lot of eyes on him over the next few weeks right certainly next week when excuse me cleveland is in jacksonville where trevor lawrence could go oh and two after getting 55 million a year but his contract um deshawn's contract 230 million dollars of guaranteed money which was a contract that everybody else including i'm sure jerry jones went up to um the owners of the browns went up to the hassles and go really what gives because nobody else was going to hand out that money remember that was a problem with kylar murray and his deal a couple years ago guess who got 231 million guaranteed dollars in his contract that is not an accident so so he's he's now set the standard for most guaranteed dollars he set the standard for largest signing bonus he set the standard for most apy and the cowboys didn't have to do it if they had did it done this before and then now jacksonville and green bay if you really want to hurt green bay for doing what they did to you it's by making them have jordan love make more money than dak that's the way to really hurt them i i don't think i'm wrong something that was a thought but it needs to be it's what i'm saying is it kind of needs to be it needs to be so why are you so so why would you let somebody set the market for you when you can do it back to them unless they just don't care bingo but does it come home the roost in january and february where you could have another player or the team that's beating you might not have had the player might not have had the player that beats you because you forced them to pay the other team's best player more because you beat him to the punch honestly that's the way i would be running business but with green if i have done that with a second year starter would they have put him over whatever number jordan love when his time to be paid this summer was going to get the top dollar okay if you had already pushed that envelope higher by paying your guy about six seven million a year less why wouldn't you try why don't you do that and plus you're making everybody happy and again getting everybody through all this rigamarole of questions throughout an entire summer i think jerry likes the rigamarole i think he does like the rigamarole and yesterday the cowboys showed they can do what said rigamarole and roll another team now that's why i would counsel the bangles whatever's going on with your mark chase rip open that velcro wallet and get over it because that helped cost you yesterday it's crazy him on a pitch count what's up with that what's up with that or we're wondering if he's on a pitch count or all these questions he said he had food poisoning yesterday oh you know what i got the food poisoning is him wanting to eat yeah and being told to order out make it yourself we got mcdonald's at home here are the udon noodles you know i tell you there's an upset watch people listen to me fun show everybody fun show uh on tomorrow's program we will review the monday nighter between the jets and the 49ers what we got tonight rich oh god i'll be i'll be working uh tonight's game uh for westwood one radio sir that's what i've got tonight work uh on tomorrow's program what do you look at me like that for well i'm just saying all of our teams in this building one except for the raiders so there's pressure on you to kind of keep it going on tomorrow's program senator mark kelly of uh arizona he wants to come on and talk about the cardinals almost winning apparently he's a he's got some interest in the bills he's got a new children's book out okay he's been on this program before calling you out once before right chris oh that's right maybe about not wanting to go to the moon or something like that i said once you get into space after like 30 seconds then what and then our number one our number one coach of the chicago bears matt he looked like the fawns coming into work yesterday the
