Um the quarterbacks Getting ready to Show up and show out at the combine and the draft, as well as Fernando Mendoza last night. We also had Chris Long in the first hour. If you've missed any of that, don't worry. There's our YouTube channel, there's our podcast, all three hours. There's also the Disney Plus page that we have there all three hours of the show can be watched back whenever you wish. 844-204-Rich is the number to dial right here in the program.

Let's head to the phone lines and keep rolling on. Is this Marty Gras in New Orleans? Is that how we're supposed to Marty Gras Bob? What's up, Marty Gras Bob? Marty Gras Bob in New Orleans.

What's up, Marty Gras Bob? Hurry up, gentlemen. Pleasure to visit with you. Yeah, Mardi Gras Bob. It's actually carnival season.

Carnival is a season, Mardi Gras is a day.

Okay, we know. Excellent, excellent. Just for definitions.

Okay, what's on your mind, sir? I think the Indiana Hoosiers have saved Single-handedly, a lot of people's opinions on the current state of college football where it just seems to be a bunch of itinerant mercenaries that travel from one team to the next. Four. Whoever's going to give them the most money. What we got this year.

Now first, let me frame this by saying I'm in New Orleans, but uh I did not go to an SEC school or two-lane right down the street. I went to Arizona because I like basketball. It's not the only reason I went, but it didn't hurt. Yes. What we saw last night, I think we saw.

the best team Not necessarily the best team money could buy. Mark Cuban's billions. Aside, I think it restored faith in a lot of fans that are outside of the SEC are not rabid college football fans. That uh this is a sport worth watching because There are good stories to it, not necessarily just who's got the biggest payroll. Exactly.

And again, Marty Grabab, I'm not going to sit here and talk about somebody else's payroll. Michigan's got Larry Ellison bankrolling a lot of what Michigan's doing. I'm sure we could sit here and What Phil Knight's bankrolling, what what Oregon's doing, everybody's got You know, it's just it it just used to be Buddy Garrity at some local Chevrolet that was putting it in paper bags. You know what I mean? Like that's the way it was when we were growing up, to be honest with you.

True, that's true. You know, and so it's just different now, and you just gotta know what to do with it. Like. I just want to see rules. I just want to see rules.

You know what I mean? That's all. On Indiana's team. Good players. Committed players, but these are not elite five-star guys.

I don't think they have any five-star recruits on the team. And yet By becoming a team, They did it over Much more well-funded teams. I know Cuban gives them a lot of money, but he's not putting in as much money as. As Oregon gets ahead of time. You and I don't know.

You and I don't know, Marty Grabob, but and thanks for the call. It's just, again, we just need to know. Uh what happens Elsewhere or wherever, where the money gets given to a player, and then the job is gone, and then the money's gone, or somebody decides to go in the portal because the money's supposed to be there, and then they show up, and the money's not there, or they're supposed to go in the portal and because an agent says the money will be there, and then they go in the portal, the money's not there, and they can't go back to their other. Smart. I mean, we had Josh Pate on this program last week.

He said there were 10,000 kids in the portal with two days to go, with almost 4,000 kids in the FBS alone. And I'm like, what happens to the kids who don't? Land somewhere. Can they go back? And he goes, If their coach will have them back.

Mutter be gone. What happens then? What are the rules for that sort of thing? Um Let's go to Georgian in Florida. What's up?

Is it Georgia or Georgian? George Anne. Oh, George Anne, how are you, George Anne? Good. How are you guys doing?

Okay, what's going on?

Well, it's a first-time caller for me, so I just want to say thank you for the years of entertainment and. Everything along the way.

So I'm just so glad to see hear you back on the radio, at least on ESPN radio. With the news of a few coaching hires in the NFL that might have been skipped over because of the playoffs and the game last night is Half Lee leaving Green Bay to Miami. Who do you guys think would be a good fit for defensive coordinator in Green Bay? Hmm. Interesting question.

question Jonathan Gannon. I mean, there's a bunch of guys. We'll see who lands with a head coach. We're assuming Sean McDermott lands as a head coach somewhere. What if he doesn't?

And there's been a lot of talk that Raheem Morris might be a top pick, and maybe Al Harris. Since he was a previous Packer, could be.

So I just wasn't sure who would be a good fit for. The like for Micah and X and Tim and the best guy. The bottom line, though, is that don't you think they're gonna get it right? Because the Packers frequently do. You know what I mean?

Like, there's certain teams that just get it right a lot. They've got to, considering all the money on the defensive side and all the free agents coming.

Now, I hear you. But there's going to be at some point. Um you know, all the pieces land and there should be.

Some really good defensive-minded head coaches who don't get another head coaching job somewhere else. That might be a perfect spot for Green Bay. The only thing, though, is that you bring them in, and you know that you're going to be looking for a new defensive coordinator in a year. You know, thanks for the call, Georgiana. I appreciate it there in Florida.

You know, like that's why Chris Long was talking earlier about a cheat code. By a cheat code he means having a coordinator that you know you're not going to lose to a head coaching job somewhere else because either A, they've aged out of the role or B, they've had too many opportunities and aren't going to get another one because of how poorly it's gone in their opportunities to be a head coach before. Exhibit A, Josh McDaniel. What do you mention? You also mentioned how Dennis Allen.

With the Raiders and the Saints. Will somebody else knock on his door again? And so Ben Johnson has got that handled. Andy Reid has had that handled for Steve Spagnolo. Nobody's been knocking on the door to raid Andy Reid of his defensive.

Coordinator and one hundred percent Super Bowl worthy. Sidekick Nobody's done that. And so you figure all those pieces out. With the Green Bay Packers, at the end of the day, You know, you need to Listen, if you're going to hire a CEO. Head coach.

Meaning two coordinators that go along, and he's not calling it plays on either side of the football. You know what happens when you have to then go back into the market and find somebody new? Because they keep moving on. Case in point, what's happening with the Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator? And then you wind up with a a quarterback who constantly gets a new voice in his head.

You know, that's what ends up happening. We'll take one more phone call. We'll take a break, and then Cars, pardon me, Jordan Palmer is going to join us here on the program. Um let's go To William in Topeka, Kansas. What's up, William?

Hey, um thanks for taking my call. Um I just wanted to bring up um Yeah. A lot of things have been happening in the football world. I think one thing that's gotten overshadowed a lot is the fact that. the Chiefs are going to bring Eric Biennemy back.

Um And the fact of the matter is, the moment he left, the Chiefs' offense went from Number one, um during the year we defeated the Eagle, to middle of the pack like fifteenth or sixteenth. And it isn't necessarily about his Play calling ability because that's not what BOC in Kansas City does. I think it has everything to do with his. His manner of discipline and how he holds players accountable. And Travis Kelsey was talking about it last night in Miami.

And I think assuming Mahomes can come back at full strength before you know Late September, the Chiefs are going to go right back to the Super Bowl because of Eric Biennabe.

Well, we need to see what they also do with their roster, William. And thank you for the call. I think Eric Bienneme coming back, we will find out if he was, in fact, some of the missing special sauce. They did still win 15 games last year, make it to the Super Bowl. But we do need to see what they're going to do with their roster.

Does Kelsey come back to? When does Mahomes come back? What do they do with the line? You know, there's still a lot of questions about the Camp City Chiefs. All right, we're going to take a break.

We'll come back. We'll get Jordan Palmer on the horn and then overreaction Monday. On a Tuesday, that's still to come here. Um The Rich Eisen Show Podcast. Rich Eisen here.

Good to have Jordan Palmer, our quarterback guru, quarterback coach and consultant back here on the program. Good to see you, Jordan. How are you? I'm doing great.

Sorry for being tardy. I appreciate you guys just being absolute pros. You're the man. And then, Rich, always finding a way to connect it back to how you're the centerpiece of NFL history, major moves. Yeah, it's just you have an amazing way of tying it all back to you.

I never disagree either, though. I never disagree. There's an I in my first and last name. Jordan. There you go.

There you go. There's no me in it, I don't think. Nope. Nope. That's what you've got.

That's what you've got. All right, Jordan, I give you the floor on Jared Stittum: what you know and what you think. Yeah. Boy, I hate the way that this, that he's getting his first start. You know, I've known Bo Nick since he was a little guy, since he was a sophomore in high school.

I'm such a fan of what Bo's done. But, you know, for the audience, I texted Rich and go, hey, I got some thoughts on this. Because I think STIDM, not right now, but for the last two or three years, is one of the best. Uh kept secrets. Most uh Unknown high quality player, insert other line that makes sense and is congruent with those statements.

But I don't think anybody knows until this weekend how good Jared Siddham is. And not because I've known him since he was little and spent a lot of time with him. But I think there's some data here. You know, you go back to those two starts that he had in.

Well, let me go back earlier than that.

So he was drafted in the fourth round in New England to back up Brady. And That offense at that time, it was not just Tom Brady being a great player. That was like year nine. I believe it was either 9 or 11 of Josh McDaniels and Tom Brady running that offense together. And Brady at that time was in year whatever, 16, 17, something like that.

Okay.

So when you have a fourth-round pick rookie come in and win the number two job, It is not because you throw it good. It's because you learned the offense. It's because we can actually put you in a game. And you can run our offense.

Well, let's go back before that. What colleges did Jarrett Stidham play at?

Okay, I'll save you the air time here instead of letting you guys guess. Auburn. But yeah, he went to Auburn. Yeah, but he started at Baylor.

So if you think about the offenses that he learned before he got to the NFL. He ran, I draw a blank on his name, the guy that got in trouble, Art Bryles. He ran that system, which was a high school. Art Bryles came from high school.

So that was a high school offense, no progressions, no responsibility at the line of scrimmage, no protection accountability. Then he played for Gus Malzon. Who outside of Cam Newton, I haven't seen that offense explode.

So he entered into the league, and I did Jarrett's draft prep, and I would say, as far behind anybody as I've ever had in terms of understanding offense.

Okay.

He went from that. to making the New England Patriots comfortable with him being the two. With Tom Brady in his ninth year of work. I mean, that is like, that's like walking into calculus, but you're only in fifth grade. And then learning calculus.

Okay.

So that's how he entered the league. Yes. He played a little bit, didn't play well in New England. But what happened when Josh McDaniels got the head coaching job with Raiders? The first transaction was trading for Jarrett Siddham.

Okay, not really known about. Then when he goes to Denver And he's there, and then you got Russell kind of sliding, and then you got Sean Payton coming in. I mean they paid him 15 million bucks. To go there. I don't know, but I think he's like one of the highest paid backups in the league.

And then last year, I can't say who, but there was a team that offered a pretty good ransom for him to trade, and they wouldn't trade him.

So. They know what they got there. And I think the guys on the team know what they got there. And outside of making predictions in the game, I think if Drake May and Jarrett Stiddam both play at their best, I don't think it's much different. And I don't really see Jarrett having a floor because the two starts that he did have in the Raiders, we can say, are irrelevant, but he shredded the Patriots, he shredded the Chiefs, and then he shredded the Niners.

And those are the two teams that played in the Super Bowl that year.

So I actually hate the way this has happened. But optimistic is an understatement when I think about how well Jarrett Siddhant might play this weekend. Yeah, because Drake May is an MVP, maybe. You know what I mean? Like what you just said.

Yeah. I mean it's the high highs and the low lows. See how many tournaments they have in the last two weeks. And I am a huge Drake May fan. Right.

Huge Drake May fan.

So I'm just saying the high high if they're both at th you know, if you take the ceiling and the floor, I think their ceilings are they're sort of commiserate. And Jared can run too. I just don't see Jerry in this point in his career the floor being that low in this big of a game. What do you think Sean Payton's doing with him right now and for this week? I think they're running their offense, getting timing with certain guys that you don't get during this season.

Then flip it over. If I had to pick one guy to come up with a game plan and call a game this weekend and I was getting my first start in three years, I'd pick Sean Payton or maybe one other guy.

Well, McVay. You know what I mean? Well, McVay did it with Baker and just Shanahan, the same people you guys would pick. I'm just saying, he's on a short list. Of people that you would go, all right, if I'm getting thrown into that situation, I want this person coming up with the game plan and this person calling it.

Do we need to have you pulled over and sobriety tested right now, Jordan? Because that's what some people are thinking. I'm only giving voice. Because you're really, I mean, you are really. painting a rosy picture of something that normally would not be.

I mean, I've got all sorts of stats here about somebody with his lack of experience, not just career wise, but just in recent memory getting a start like this, not performing well. against the Pet, by the way, a Patriots team that made C.J. Stroud look very, very um What's the word for it? Bad. It's the only other way to put it.

Yeah, you know, I think I I just I'm in this so deep. I just don't look at stats in history as much. There's a ton of stuff I don't know anything about. There's a bunch of players I don't know anything about. When I got guys that I do know a lot about, And you start to go, okay, how could I predict success this weekend for Jarrett?

Which is what I'm doing. And the comment section is going to be awesome. But I'm going to go back and read it on Monday. I'm not going to go in your comment section now. I'm going to go back on Monday.

Okay.

And I go, okay, what would lead me to believe and have that confidence? And I even go back to college and I think about like, well, he's a fourth-round pick, and he was at Auburn. They didn't win a national championship. If you go back and look up his best games at Auburn, It was like winning the Iron Bowl and beating Georgia. And they were both the number one team in the country when he beat them.

And so his history of doing this. And going back and being around these types of situations, this is a massive situation. This is a Disney movie if this guy goes to and oh. But He's got the makings. He's got to go out there and play well.

I just don't have concerns with him handling the moment, running the offense, throwing the ball accurately, or getting himself out of bad situations. And honestly, you got to go four for four if you're going to play well this weekend in those categories.

Okay.

What do you think about Darnold and Stafford? In that game. George. Man, this is, I think it's the two best teams playing.

Sometimes it plays out that way. Um But This is a there's a there's the chess scheme between McVay and McDonald. Um You know, with when you got Shanahan and McVeigh. In that in that uh In that division, you got to have somebody who can, you can't hire a coach who's just going to try and outscore him and hope that you get the next Shanahan or McVay.

So, John Schneider did an unbelievable job with the hire of McDonald's, somebody who. is not going to back down to scheming against those guys. Um and not going to try and Slow down those offenses, but can try and attack those offenses and then to get the personnel that they've gotten the last few years on defense. The last defense in the league I would want to play against right now is the Seattle Seahawks in Seattle. And both quarterbacks have showed that when they're at their best, they're MVP candidates.

Um and they both have had games where they've turned it over. They both have four interception games this season. Um Sams was against LA. Um but I think we're gonna see uh two two the two best teams in the league uh play their best. And I think this comes down to some similar situation that we saw the last time they played.

I don't know if it's the two-point conversion walk-off game winner, but I think this is going to be an absolute duel to the end. And I like the Seahawks here. I mean, I drink the Kool-Aid. Sam's a client of mine. But I still like the Seahawks.

And I think. Even without Charbonnet this week, that's going to be tough. But they've had a two-headed monster running back by committee all year.

So it's just going to be on Kenneth Walker to step up. And then for them to scheme in more high-percentage throws so that it would replace essentially another five to six carries. And I trust Kubiak to design that and have some quick passing game kind of replace, call it 5% to 10% of what the running game would have been in this game. But they've got to be high completion percentage throws with opportunities to get yards after the catch.

So I think this is going to be one of the most fascinating games to watch I've seen in a while because both defensive coordinators, both offensive coordinators are A-plus in every category, and they both have teams that are really disciplined, do the right thing, play selflessly. It's not the superstar playmakers that are on the field this weekend. It's just the execution that we're going to see by, I think, the two best teams. A couple minutes left with you, Jordan Palmer, so you can get at least the feeling back in your hands. You've been holding your iPad this entire time out there in the practice field.

I appreciate that. He would never say it.

So if you don't mind speaking on his behalf, which I'm sure you don't really want to do, but I'm going to ask you to do it. What would it mean to Sam Darnold if he's the first quarterback of his draft class to play in a Super Bowl? What do you think? It would mean that I think nothing. Yeah, come on.

Winning a well, going to a Super Bowl would mean the world. Winning a Super Bowl would mean the world.

So, this is an interesting discussion.

Okay, go back to Sam Darnold's draft class. I had him and Josh.

Okay.

One of the things, from a psychological perspective, when I work with quarterbacks, elite guys at that level, is I need to figure out what motivates them.

So, people are largely in one of two groups: they are internally motivated or externally motivated.

So, the example would be. Sam Darnold is internally motivated.

So I'm not a strength coach and I don't run guys, but let's say that we had a hard workout and I wanted them to get 12 reps of something hard. If I wanted Sam to try and get 12, I would tell Sam, last time you got 11, see if you can get 12. Josh is more externally motivated. Doesn't really care what he did last time. He just wants to beat that guy.

So I would tell Josh: Sam just got 11.

Okay? Neither is right or wrong, by the way. Neither is good or bad. Sure. But it's important as a coach, and I would say all the way down to my first and second grade flag team, to understand what motivates guys.

Sam is incredibly internally motivated.

So he is motivated, I think, to get to the Super Bowl and win it because of how hard he's worked, because of his teammates, because of the sacrifice his family, and all the cliche things that's true of everybody. But other guys, and it's not wrong, would wanna be the first and would wanna win before that guy and would wanna have more success than that guy.

So that's why my answer is. What would it mean for him to be the first guy of that draft class? I think nothing.

So then knowing Josh Allen as well as you do Who would you counsel the Bills to go hire as his next head coach? And if you want to just give me the type, go for it. You want to give me a name? Obviously I'll take it. What do you think?

Yeah, I gotta avoid names here in a minute, but I think somebody, you know, the media is gonna talk through. You know how successful Sean McDermott was. And so they have to be more successful than that. You can't have somebody who hasn't. I don't know that it comes down to that.

I think they have. I will say the most unique culture in the NFL. That's a subjective opinion. I don't know every single culture. But man, they got something special.

And you hear guys talk about it. You hear Joey Bosa and these guys that come and go. And Vaughn Miller was talking about it. But I've lived it. I've thrown with these guys.

I've been out with these guys a ton. Weddings and stuff like that. It is a unique culture.

So, one, that's the most important thing. If somebody's been won three Super Bowls, but not a culture guy, I don't even think that person's getting an interview.

So, the culture that they built, there's no point in changing it. 'Kay. That's not the problem. And then I think you need somebody who says, my fastball is a coach. Yeah.

Whatever they determined was not Sean McDermott's. Whether you want to talk about late game management, any of these different situations, you want somebody where that's their fastball. And then there's some things you probably want to change on the rest of the staff, and then there's some things you probably don't want to change on the rest of that staff. And a quick shout out to one of my all-time favorite coaches, Aaron Cromer, retired as the O-line coach. I would say, with.

After a long, incredible career, he had a huge impact on me. He's stepping into retirement. And so, honestly, head coach is massive. But they need to get an O-line coach in there too, because that's the best teacher I was ever around at the O-line position.

So there's a lot of things they gotta address there, but somebody needs to come in and add to the culture. not change it. And somebody needs to come in and be world-class at situational management. And then, you know, the messaging of coaches the year-round, they don't just get up in front of the team and wing it and talk. The messaging that's curated, and I know teams that hire people to help them do this.

This guy needs to be an incredible messenger and hold everybody accountable. And the more they can do that, allow these guys to play free and let that culture be the reason they win. I definitely in Buffalo, I trust, I know there's a lot on the internet right now. I have a lot of trust in Brandon Bean. I think he's fantastic.

And I think they're going to be able to get a Super Bowl here soon with these very big decisions they got to make.

So it doesn't have to be somebody who's in Josh's ear and calls a place for him? Doesn't it have to be? I don't know specifically what he wants, but Josh has ran several systems by now. They ran the ball so well this year. You know, Josh is another guy that I don't think he cared about winning another MVP.

You know, it was all Super Bowl or bust.

So the fact that they were running the ball as well as they were and weren't putting up the passing yardage, I thought that was probably irrelevant for Josh because at this point in his career, what he's done, what he's made, it's all about winning a Super Bowl. And so these are big decisions that they got to make. Last one for you: Fernando Mendoza, is he the first overall pick in the National Football League draft? Georgia. You know, I don't know enough about these pass rushers and these other guys at the top, but I think Fernando can come in early and have success.

Been around him a lot. Talked to him, got to meet him right when he was on his way to Cal. And so watching this thing rise, I was early on Fernando Mendoza in terms of thinking that this guy's going to be special. And the goofiness that you see in the interviews, that's him. He's as pure as they come.

Um and everybody loves him, by the way. His teammates love him. Uh You know, it's funny, the comment sections are pretty funny on interviews that he does, but the reality is his teammates love him. And that's a huge piece to be able to. You know, there's what he's done this season: the Heisman, the national championship.

There's those things that. Can dictate your draft stock. And so it can be great for your career. But then there's just the reps that you get. That Heisman speech is People watch more people watch the Heisman speeches than they watch the NFL Hall of Fame speeches.

I mean, that's the biggest stage you'll have. I've helped a lot of guys write their speech. And like, this is your moment, right? And so the experience of going through that, the experience of handling these playoffs. To go back home, where he's from, the school it didn't offer him, and then beat them there and come back and really be the reason you win.

It's also the reps, not just what it does for your draft stock, it's those types of reps, handling those moments. That leads me to believe that you can have success earlier in your career. And we're seeing some guys right now, some young quarterbacks play at a high level who've had similar success. Jordan, thanks for the time, man. Appreciate you getting off the practice field, hopping on for a few minutes here.

And on behalf of all Denver Broncos fans, Thanks for coming on. Appreciate it. Yeah, I mean, this is one of the most anticipated weekends of football I've ever had, so I can't wait to watch these guys go down. And then read the Rich Eyes and Show comments section on Monday. Monday.

And so we should look forward to that. Or maybe I'll do overreaction Tuesday on Monday. Ah, ladies, let's do it around here. Jordan Palmer knows the program, which is part of the reason why we love him. Oh, by the way, congrats to your brother on everything going on with him, coaching it up.

There's another internally motivated person who could care less about the fact that he was voted National Coach of the Year, his first time ever coaching. This is not a guy who ran a great eighth grade and seventh grade football program. This is a guy who stepped into coaching. for the first time. But that's another Sam and Carson have I've known Carson, my whole life and Sam, since he was 14.

They're eerily similar. Internally motivated, Carson's worried about next year.

Okay.

Jordan, you're the man. We'll chat soon. Thanks guys. You got it. Ladies and gentlemen, Jordan Palmer, founder of QB Summit.

And uh he's going back to coach some of his charges out there on the field. Yeah. He thinks Jared stid him. Is ready to roll. We shall see, because that's a defense that's coming in that's been Marauding Justin Herbert and CJ Stroud.

It's the only way to put it. Number one in postseason pressures. They've been doing it. We'll see what happens. They do have two all-pro First teamers on that offensive line.

and bulls and miners. Here we go, man. And a defense. And a defense. That is uh no joke.

And a Jared Stidham quarterback that has not had a lot of reps. Had a no joke defense.

Well, they made your quarterback like fumble like four times. Yeah, what was the final score? I mean just saying. Quarterback didn't play that well.

So, both tests. You know what we're going to do? We'll take a break. We'll check in on what's going on with the Giants and then an overreaction Monday on a Tuesday. I mean,.

Jordan previewed it. He teased it. We're going to do it. That's next on the Rich Hisen Show. Yeah.

Okay, so we talked earlier there's four head coaching jobs that have been filled. Six more to go. Crazy. Because they keep opening them up.

Now we're done, right?

Now we're done. Denver's not doing, nobody's doing it.

Okay, now we're done. Never say never, but never. And one by one, those that have been filled were getting press conferences. Giants were first to fill the job with John Harbaugh. He's the first to hold a press conference today at the Giants HQ in New Jersey.

It's a profound honor. to be entrusted with the responsibility of coaching the New York Football Giants. It might yeah. My dad told me that they were the New York football giants. They weren't just the Giants of the New York Giants, they were the New York Football Giants, right, Dad?

All the way back. One of the most iconic franchises in all of sports, I wanted this job. I think I told you that, Mr. Murray. I want this job.

I wanted this job. to be on the biggest stage in the biggest sport. I know the challenges. I understand the expectations. I know the fans are hungry for a winter.

We're here with one mission. to become to earn the right to be called the world champions. in New York. And that's what we plan to do. It's just wild for me being a native New Yorker.

That this guy is the first Giants head coach to be named with a ring already. one and in his pocket. It never happened before. Parcells started his career there. Coughlin came in.

You know, I guess a ring from the Parcells staff, but not as a head coach. Right. You came in with a bunch of wins from Jacksonville. Sure did. And he left with two.

And the Giants really haven't done very much except one playoff season since then. with McAdoo and then one with Dable. where they beat the Minnesota Vikings, but that win gave them a bit of fool's gold where they extended Daniel Jones and franchise tagged. Saquon. And Nope.

Now they got Dart. There's the here and now. And Harbaugh was asked. If Dart was Part of the reason why he did want the Giants' job. You build your team around your quarterback.

I mean, you build your team around your players and what they do well. And I like the way he plays. I mean, I like his talent. Skill set, all things he's accomplished, but more than that, I like who he is. And what he's about.

To me, he's about football. I mean this this young guy loves football. He wants to talk football all the time. And you know, and that's kind of what I like doing too.

So I think we're going to have a lot of great conversations. I can't wait to get started with him. He sounds just like his brother there who says. you know when I Chatted with Jim before the Chargers Texans game. Anytime you try to get underneath Jim's hood about his process, about what's his secret sauce, he says, I love football.

And I love talking football, and football loves me.

So I love people who love football. Like, that's what he sounds like. And sometimes it is just that simple when you're just trying to create a culture. But the most important thing that I hear from the Giants fan base is that John is coming and is changing the way the Giants are doing their business. And that's something that needed to be changed to get some sort of a fundamental change.

in the wins and losses around there. And that included and that's part of the hang-up that happened. Because John Harbaugh never reported to Eric DaCosta, the general manager in Baltimore. He reported straight to the Boston Steve Bascioti, and he was trying to get that. with the Giants and he did.

He reports to ownership, not Joe Shane, and he has final say on Personnel. And Joe Shane doesn't have that anymore, and the GM was asked about that. Yeah, and I'm not worried about that. Everywhere I've been, I've been in the league for 26 years.

So everywhere I've been, the head coach and general manager work together. That's the only way it's going to work. And get on the same page, go through the process. Again, we've done it everywhere I've been, so I'm not worried about it. Like you said, that's just something on a piece of paper doesn't matter.

We need to work together, and we're going to come to the final conclusion. And it's always going to be about what's best for the New York Giants.

So I have no problem with that. And I'm looking forward to working with them. Yeah. John's going to have to be collaborative. Says Joe Shane, and I'm sure John will say, hey, Joe.

My thumb's on the scale. I got a bigger thumb than you, and I don't think there's anybody in the Giants fan base that has a problem with that. No, definitely not. At all. But it's For anybody to sit here and think Joe Shane is delusional that it's not going to work out, I disagree with that.

I mean Harbaugh's just going to make it work. Certainly if the owners have a A liking. for junk. And so he's there. And it's John Harbaugh's world though.

And Giants fans, you wanted it, you got it, and they probably can't believe that they do. It's a Tuesday. It's time for Overreaction Monday on a Tuesday. Hit it. That was terrible.

That was crap. That was garbage. That's why it sucks. Overreaction. Mondays.

Mondays. On a Tuesday. All right, Chris. We very rarely finish the show with this, but it's just been such a busy show. Yeah, busy show, busy week, busy playoffs.

It's all fun. How are you guys doing?

Everybody good? Yeah. You know, the natty is cool and all, right? But, like, imagine what Signetti could do with Josh Allen. The Bills should go after Kurt Signet.

No doubt. Everybody should go after him. He says he's not interested. He said he's not a football, an NFL guy. that that he had an opportunity to do it years ago and He is where he is, and I'm sure he is well compensated where he is, and he's loved where he is.

$5 million a year gets to him. But I'm telling you, if I am an owner of a National Football League team with an opening, I am 100%. Calling him up. a Pittsburgh guy. And saying A.

If the Steelers aren't gonna knock on your door or We're just up the road, 100%. I do that. 100% I did it. I don't think he's interested, though. As much as I keep trying to drum this thing up, the Raiders can draft his guy.

They could just take the Signeti Mendoza show on the road. You could have a nice residency there. Or on the strip. And both of them go home. I'm in.

Sick Freedom Roy. But it's like he's already climbed that. Sick Freedom Roy. Yeah. Signetti and Mendoza without the Tigers.

Well, unless it's the Bengals. We'll bring them back. I don't know. The Bengals come in town. Why not?

I don't know. What else? Not an overreaction. What else you got? All right.

Well, let's go to his quarterback. We know he's going to Raider Nation. He's going to be hooked up with Tom Brady, and maybe who knows the head coach? The Raiders are going to be over 500 next year. All right.

That's an overreaction, sir. That's an overreaction, sir. The the cupboard is bare outside of Genti, baby. I know Genty, and I know Max Crosby. It's not Bear, Bear.

It's there's it's a 53-man roster, sir. And whoever goes there is gonna have to work some magic to have. A six-win season, a seven-win season. I'd love nothing but success for this guy, as you know. He's perfect for the opportunity.

They're in Las Vegas. And I just hope whoever coaches him up And everybody in the fan base there just remain patient. He's really, really good. But it might not be in year one. I don't know, the Patriots won four games.

Overreaction. I know. That was year one of Gerard Mayo. And Drake May, four games, wins. That's it.

So, year two could be a big league. Year two. What else? Look, we know a lot about the bills this week and the roster and this, that, and the other. But there is a disgruntled wide receiver in Philadelphia who needs a new home, and the Bills should do whatever it takes to get A.J.

Brown. I love it. But they don't pay receivers 30 million bucks a year. They just don't do it. They'll start doing it.

I understand that. But the guy who didn't do it or wouldn't do it and needed to go through all of training camp to get James Cook. signed to a contract. Just got Um A promotion.

So 30 million bucks a year is just, it ain't it. But I would love to see someone like A.J. Brown for Josh Allen. Just see what it looks like. This one time, you know, Tom got Brandy Moss.

Look what happened. That one time he got somebody. A lot of touchdowns, a lot of wins. Did Steph Diggs not play?

Now I got you. You're right. I You're right. Steph digs with muscles. You're right.

We do forget though. I'm just saying. And it didn't work out there either. It didn't work out. I mean they won a lot of games.

I'm with you too. I just don't think that's just that's that's their MO. All right, we mentioned it. Four jobs filled: Giants, Falcons, Titans, Dolphins. At least two of them are going to win a playoff game next year.

Um Yeah, I mean the Falcons Tiebreaks didn't go their way.

So they had the same record as the division winner, so that makes sense. And I imagine you're you're looking at The Giants? I think so, yeah. Yeah. I mean The dolphins could do it too.

Who is their quarterback? I got it. I understand. Jeff Hafley, how he's going to handle the Tua situation is going to be fascinating. I wonder what was discussed in those meetings with ownership and Troy Aikman, who had a seat at the table.

I'm fascinated to hear what Jeff Hafley is going to say when we're. I bet you it's going to be open competition. We're here, fresh start for everybody. Even though he knows too, it's got to be his guy financially. I mean, what a massive cap-eating situation that would be.

To start things off for the Dolphins. That said, look at what Denver did. They drafted somebody, and with a massive cap-eating situation, they're the one-seed. Going into this weekend. Um, and the Titans are a tall order, certainly with the Texans and the Jaguars and the Colts looking as well as they did this year.

So. I don't think that's an overreaction. Makes sense. All right, a couple more. Just talk my way through it.

Chris Long mentioned this earlier. You know. Look, is a Pats fan excited about what could be, but Drake May is still a little too careless with the ball to be the reason New England wins a Super Bowl this year. Are you reverse jinxing it with your own overreaction Monday subject matter? I mean, he's fumbled a lot.

I don't look at him and think he is, in any reason, way, shape, or form, going to be the one that holds him back. Stop fumbling. No, I just think on any given Sunday, they could just get beat. It's that simple. Uh you know.

I'm I'm I'm I don't look at Drake May and I say, at some point, he's going to hit his head on the ceiling. I don't sit there and think that for a split second.

So, I'll call this an overreaction since that's what you're looking for. I'm sort of in a giving mood. Following up with what Jordan Palmer said, you know what, I'm thinking about this situation with Denver this weekend, and like. Jared Stinham is going to be fine. And won't be to blame if the Broncos lose on Central.

I'll buy that one too. I'll buy that one too, huh? He didn't go higher register on it. He did. Yeah, I don't think you did.

No, I think he is going to be fine and won't be to blame if the Broncos lose on Sunday. The Broncos defensively gave up 30 points to Josh Allen, who was missing throws and turned it over. as many times as he did, and they still scored thirty.

So Yeah. I'll say that if the Broncos lose, it won't because Siddham, his stat line, was he gave too many short fields. Let's put it this way: if he's going to be up by three, deep in his own end, and there's going to be a first-down play that blows up in his face and he's being sacked, he won't just pull a pin and throw a grenade like C.J. Stroud did in the middle of the Patriots' defense. That he won't do.

He can't play worse than Stroud. What else you got over here? Last one. While these offensive coordinator jobs are still open. Teams need to call our boy Kurt Warner to fill one of these jobs.

No, get out of here. Come on. I can't wait to ask him about this. He's ours. Get out of here.

Kurt would be awesome. These teams need to utilize his knowledge. Let's go. I'm sure he's giving them their knowledge while he stays put in NFL network. How dare you?

Rich. Let's get Kurt paid. No, I think he's fine. I've been to his house. Just saying.

What are you trying to do to me? Get kirk-kirk again. I hang with you too much for you to try and break up another family of mine. Get out of here. Thanks for listening to the Rich Eisen Show Podcast.
