This episode is presented by State Farm. Having insurance isn't the same as having State Farm. It's like needing the protection of an offensive guard on the football field, but getting an elementary school crossing guard. Sure, they're both guards, but you can only trust one to keep your quarterback safe when the game is on the line.
So don't settle for just any insurance when there's State Farm. Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there. Abercrombie Kids is bringing the cheer all holiday season and the gifts too. Chris Paul, is this the worst retirement tour in the history of retirement tours? From the Rich Eisen Show studio in Los Angeles. Today's guests. Comedian Andrew Santino. Senior NBA reporter Brian Wintors.
NFL executive vice president of media distributions. Hans Schroeder. And now, it's Rich Eisen.
Well, hey everybody. Welcome to this edition of the Rich Eisen Show, live on Disney Plus, the ESPN app and ESPN radio, presented by Progressive Insurance, along with Sirius XM Channel 80 audience. We say hello to all of you. I've got everything that I need. I've got a fresh cup of coffee and a plum sweater.
Honestly, name me another host who starts a show like that. Life is good, huh? You know what? It is great. And great guest list, great friends here in studio.
Good to see you over there, Chris Brockman. Hey, Rich, my shirt is green today. It's all good. Yeah. It's all good.
We're on fleek. How are you, Jason Feller? How are you? We're already one drop in, 90 seconds into the program. That's my cue to slow down, huh?
TJ Jefferson. Nice. TJ Jefferson. Hey, Rich, 38 years ago today, this little anniversary, Randy Watson and the Sexual Chocolate Band played at the Miss Black Awareness. I thought you were going to say you graduated high school or something.
I did not know that. I did not know that. Coming to America? Or the Cowboys were making their way to the NFC Championship game for the last time. Oh, man.
What? 38 years ago. Close. It wasn't that long ago, Rich.
Okay. Listen. Listen, bro. But TJ, TJ, TJ. Yes, sir.
Tonight's the night. Tonight's the night. I haven't been this excited for a football game in a minute. You know what? You deserve it.
Me? Really? Yeah. Or the Cowboys deserve that sort of reaction from a diehard like you. They're playing that well.
And tonight in Detroit, Michigan, a week 14 that has not won like tonight. Let me get the exact number right. I wasn't planning on saying this off the top, but later on when I do the full what's at stake for the week on this Thursday, six games, six, between teams at 500 or better. Six of them. You got to love it, right?
And this is where rubber is meeting the road. This is the first full slate of games tonight all the way through to Monday night in which they're all played in December. This is what the NFL schedule makers were dreaming up when they came out with this schedule, to have a game like this. And tonight's game between the Lions and Cowboys means a lot, but it's also historic. How about we'll start with that one?
Okay. We'll start with that one. these two teams, this shouldn't come as a surprise, have played the most games in the history of the NFL on a Thursday. On a Thursday because, clearly, these are the two hosts of Thanksgiving Day action for decades. And did you know, I don't have to play the music, don't worry about it.
Did you know this is the first time they've ever faced each other on a Thursday? The Cowboys and Lions have never once played each other on a Thursday.
Now, the Cowboys are Thursday kings just for this year alone. They played on a Thursday in week one. They played on a Thursday last week. They're playing on a Thursday this week. And Christmas falls on a Thursday.
And they're playing the Commanders on Christmas Day Thursday on Netflix. Rich, we're the Thursday night delights. Wow. I just coined that. I don't like that.
But I understand that you're coining, and I appreciate it. But in all seriousness, there's a lot going on here. And the Cowboys are the ones coming in, playing the best football of both teams, which is something remarkable because the Cowboys were watching the Lions start 4-1, like the rest of the NFL, thinking this is now going to be the Lions' year to show everybody last year's 15-1 season can be followed up with another terrific season to dream of, even though they went 15-2 and 1-and-done. And the Cowboys were starting slow while the Lions were starting fast. And now here we are, the first Thursday of December, and the script has flipped.
As a matter of fact, the Cowboys are coming off of the first ever instance in the history of the NFL in which a team beat the previous year's Super Bowl combatants in a five-day span. Nobody's ever done that before. Cowboys just beat the Eagles and Chiefs in a five-day span. As a matter of fact, they're in the middle of what could be if they win tonight because their next game is against Minnesota. The first ever four-game sweep in the Super Bowl era of a team going 4-0 against the previous season's teams with the four best records.
Wow. That's never happened in the Super Bowl era. As a matter of fact, the 1933 Giants are the only team in NFL history to go 4-0 in a four-game span against the four best teams by a win-loss record from the previous year. Again, Eagles, Chiefs, these Lions, who had 15 wins last year, and next week's Minnesota team that is a far cry from the 14-win team a year before. The Lions, however, are in the midst of a stretch in which they've won one and lost one in consecutive weeks for two straight months.
They went 4-1, and after going 4-1, they lost to Kansas City, but won against Tampa. Off a bye, they lost against Minnesota, but won against Washington. See what I'm doing with my voices? It's a high register Thursday, but I'm showing you wins and losses and wins and losses. Then they lose at Philly, win against the Giants, barely, and then lose to Green Bay, which means this is the time in which they win because that's what they've been doing off of a loss, as a matter of fact.
They have won 14 straight games after a loss, one shy of tying an all-time NFL record if they win tonight. The last time they had a two-game losing streak was way back when everyone's wondering if Dan Campbell really is going to bite anybody's kneecaps off ever when they lost five in a row between weeks three and eight of 2022. And as we know, it's all been upside for Detroit since then. No doubt. And in terms of tonight's game, we see not one, but both teams coming into this game ranked in the top three in both scoring and total offense.
The last time two such teams met in December or later was when the Chiefs and the Eagles met in Super Bowl 57. Super. How about that? The last such meeting in the regular season was week 17 of 2016, when the Saints and Falcons hooked up. MVP Matt Ryan and the Falcons beat Drew Brees' Saints 38-32.
Those Falcons went on to the Super Bowl and 28-3, yada, yada, yada. Every team in this matchup, such matchup. Again, in which both teams ranked in both scoring in total offense in the top three in the NFL. This century, we have seen it. Let me get this right.
One, two, three, four, five, six times. I told you the last two, right? The Super Bowl from a couple years ago and the week 17, 2016, divisional round. Every single time the winner of this game reached the Super Bowl with the exception of the Colts and the Chiefs, 2003 divisional round of the playoffs when Peyton Manning did beat the Chiefs but didn't make the Super Bowl because, you know, who was making Super Bowls from the AFC back then pretty much every year? That's what's going down tonight.
It's rare to see these matchups, period between the two teams on a Thursday, between two teams that are this great on offense, between teams that are as hot as the Cowboys against competition, as tough as they've been in the previous year and on occasion this year, and then the Lions needing it because both teams coming in tonight have an 8% chance to win their divisions. Same division odds, both teams. And in terms of winning tonight the Detroit Lions who come into this game with a 42 chance to make the playoffs with a win tonight That those odds would pop up to 59 if they lose it falls to 22 The margin between 59 and 22, we'll do the math, 37-point swing. That is the highest of any team in the NFC entering Week 14 with a win or a loss. No other team can swing in such a large manner with a win or a loss in the NFC entering this week than the Detroit Lions tonight.
And the Dallas Cowboys, they have a 17% chance to make the playoffs right now, as well as they've been playing, because that 3-5-1 start is a tough anchor, man. With a win, it pops up to 31%. With a loss, it drops to 6%. Jeez, is it all on the line tonight or what? Don't nobody call me tonight.
Well, you don't ever respond to texts anyway during games. One other thing to just keep in mind, the Lions have failed on seven straight fourth down attempts. You know they're going to go for it tonight. I know, but just kick some field goals tonight, Dan. Come on now.
That's the longest streak of failed fourth downs in the NFL this year and tied for the longest streak for the Lions this century.
so keep an eye on that. And another thing, Goff. Goff. If he gets 89 yards passing tonight, one would think he will, even with Amon Ross, St. Brown being questionable going in.
I don't think a lot of people think he's going to play tonight. He gets 88 yards passing this evening. He joins Matthew Stafford as the only Lions player in team history with 20,000 career yards for the franchise. Dang. By the way, Goff had 18,171 with the Rams.
He's climbing charts, man. He's splitting up numbers. That is what's at stake tonight. Making the playoffs or not. Great odds with the win.
Not so great with a loss. It's not as bad for the Lions. It's pretty crippling for the Cowboys. Cowboys are the ones coming in with the hot, healthy receivers and passing game. The Lions are not.
The Lions, though, do not lose after a loss, at least not for the last three years. That's what's going down on prime video tonight. That's why you're jacked. It's delicious, I think. I once upon a time heard that sort of matchup.
Seriously. Seriously. How much can I responsibly put in the Cowboys tonight, TJ? Come on. Look, man.
Hold on a second. Everything I just said makes you think that? Yeah. Really? Why?
My eyes work. I still have 20-20 vision. But the Lions don't lose two in a row. They don't. Yeah, but statistics have no bearing on what happens tonight.
One last thing I guess I should throw in here, too. Why not? What the heck? Since Quentin Williams arrived, you know, DeMarvy and Overshown showed up right behind him. Since those two things happened, the Cowboys are allowing nine fewer points per game and 85 fewer yards per game.
on defense. It's different. Quentin Williams is one and a half sack, seven quarterback hits, and 19 pressures in three games with the Cowboys. All wins. They're all more than he had in eight games with the Jets this year.
That's surprising to you, too, Chris. No, I've watched the Jets play football. You have eyes. I got it. Hutch, though, is right behind Quentin with 17 quarterback pressures since week 11.
Yeah, we're missing Tyler. QBs best time their heads on a swivel.
So we've got Andrew Santino joining us, diehard Bears fan, in support, by the way, of the special Olympics event, Ho-Ho Homers with Andrew Santino that's slated here in Southern California this Saturday. When Andrew was on earlier this fall, I'm like, come back on when you want to promote it. And he's going to do that later on this hour. Hans Schroeder, the top executive in the National Football League at the executive vice president level in terms of media distribution, is going to join us about all those ratings we saw from Thanksgiving. And that's in hour number three.
He has no idea I'm going to negotiate my contract in full with him live on this program. That seems like a bold strategy. Don't you think? Don't you think? Let's see how it plays out.
Let's see what happens. By the way, you have no idea how I'm going to bring that up with him. Neither does he.
So I'd stay tuned for that in hour three. You never see anybody, essentially, with the man he reports to, talk about a future contract and negotiate it. Get awful announcing on the horn. Are you sure this is a good idea? Oh, it's going to be great.
Yeah, I'll alert them. Oh, it's going to be great. It's going to be great. Hour three. You got it.
and Brian Wynorth is going to join us in hour two. He's the one that went on ESPN radio in Cleveland and said, hey, Giannis has asked for a trade already, which prior to last night's game between the Bucs and the, you know, would be if it weren't for the Oklahoma City Thunder NBA leading Detroit Pistons. he Doc Rivers met with the media because you know coaches meet before the game in the NBA and he emphatically denied Brian Windhorst's report that Giannis prior to the season has already asked for a trade hidden there was a report today from ESPN about the conversations Giannis is having with the team about his future and whether or not it should be here in Milwaukee or elsewhere.
So here we go again. There's been no conversations, and I want to make it clear just for the, I would say one more time, but for the 50th time, it clearly is not getting the one network for sure. Giannis has never asked to be traded, ever. I can't make that more clear. All right, and, you know, Doc, you're the head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks.
How would you know that? The thing I keep saying is I go to the source. I talk to the source every single day. Every single day. And he loves Milwaukee and he loves the Bucs.
We have to play better. We have to win games. And, you know, until we start winning games, this is going to be out here. We rip off 10 in a row. My guess is it's magically going to disappear.
You know, that's just how I feel. I just keep saying this. I've heard guys say they've talked to sources, and I talk to the source. And if I've learned anything in life, the source usually knows. I love him, man.
Yeah, I mean, plausible deniability. That could technically be true. Giannis himself hasn't said the words, I want a trade.
Well, again, Brian Winter is going to join us at the top of the next hour, and we'll talk with him about this and Chris Paul's departure. from the Clippers organization and the manner in which he was told were done. And, oh, by the way, in terms of Doc saying it's all going to be worked out with a winning streak, they now have a one-game win streak after beating the Detroit Pistons and Giannis scoring how many points?
Well, wait a minute. I'm being told he went down with what looked like an Achilles injury and scared the crap out of everybody. Mm-hmm.
Well, it's not an Achilles that snapped, thank God, because it just went down out of nowhere. And it looked like one of those things where, you know, he had the look on his face that he knew he was injured on the spot. It's a right calf strain, approximately two to four weeks, according to Shams.
Now, listen, how many times have we heard a calf strain and then the guy comes back and then it happens, right? It leads to the Achilles. Yeah, sure. It's just a calf strain. Comes back and then, boom, we watch it go.
and we watched the calf twitch and it's all over. How about Durant in the NBA Finals? Halliburton and the... Halliburton. It's just a calf strain.
Let's see what can happen.
So this was kind of the best case scenario. All of this. Yeah, that it's not actually gone. That works.
Well, I mean, that he got maybe a warning. And then they won without him. Which has not been a trend this year. Against the Pistons. Yeah.
Against the Pistons. Listen, there's no secret here about my love for Doc Rivers. And, you know, I know the guy and I root for him immensely.
So does Larry David. And honestly, I'd love nothing more than for him to be the coach of Giannis Antetokounmpo and then Giannis does what he does with the newly constituted team and all. but I mean, if Giannis does in fact want out, and you maybe say he didn't say the words to Doc, or he won't say the words to Doc, because he's such a nice guy, he won't say it to the coach, even though the coach would know that the agent has said it. The agent could have said it to ownership, or the general manager. Yeah, for sure.
Long story short, is we're going to talk about it all with our friend Brian Wynhorst. But when we come back, the Pittsburgh Steelers at a crossroads, Aaron Rodgers spoke yesterday for the first time since talking about film sessions and things of that nature. And then a ghost of not-so-distant quarterback past of the Pittsburgh Steelers chimes in on Mike Tomlin's future. And where he thinks Tomlin maybe fits best. Spoiler alert, it's not Pittsburgh.
It's been a while since Big Ben lobbed something into the whole mix. but that's happened um we i have my uh uh top five one two three four five teams that should finish um strong oh okay i've had my top five of teams that i'm worried about not finishing strong top on that list was the indianapolis colts and i i've unfortunately for colts fans i think i've been proven right so far there's five games to go for most four teams on a bye when they come off the bye. Everybody's got four to go. One month to go in the season. Coming into this crucial week 14 Andrew Santino joining us at the end of this hour in support of how you can support him in the Special Olympics Southern California event that he hosting coming up this weekend 844-204-H, number to dial throughout.
It's a higher register Thursday as well, don't you know? I didn't think the pain from the shingles rash would affect simple everyday tasks like bathing, getting dressed, or even walking around. I was wrong. Though not everyone at risk will develop it, 99% of people over the age of 50 already have the virus that causes shingles, and it could reactivate at any time. I developed it, and the blistering rash lasted for weeks.

Okay. Of the teams that are at the crossroads at 6-6, two of them were in first place because they share it in the AFC North. You got also the Kansas City Chiefs at 6-6, right? That's a crossroads, baby. Blake Bowen.
Okay. Just to name three. But the Ravens and Steelers playing one another. Ravens had a win streak before Joe Burrow blew that one up on Thanksgiving night. The Steelers have just, once upon a time, 4-1.
You know, you could do the math. 2-5, that ain't it. They're booing the coach. They're not even cheering during Renegade. What's going on?
That's unbelievable. And people are saying that that is the low water mark. Yeah, that's the ultimate line. It's over now. We're not even cheering during Renegade.
So Aaron Rodgers was asked if it's time for his famous R-E-L-A-X message for his newest fan base. I mean, that was in 2012, I believe. 2014, maybe one of those two. you know it's a different team different different time and what you say needs to be authentic in that moment I felt like there was a major overreaction we played three games we played two potential that would turn out to be playoff teams and we went one and two and we went on an absolute heater after that starting with the game in Chicago so it's just feeling the pulse of the team. I don't feel like this team has a freak out or a panic that I need to send a message out to the zeitgeist that everybody needs to just relax a little bit.
We've been playing inconsistent football, that's for sure. We've got to play better. But I have confidence in leadership of the team. I have confidence in my guys and that we're going to put a better performance in the field this weekend.
Well, that's good news there for that. By the way, it was 2014 is what he's referring to um and he's right just to everybody know they lost to the new orleans saints in week eight fell to five and three had a bye week and he told everyone to relax r-e-l-a-x and talk about a heater they lost only once the rest of the season a loss at the bills and they did go into chicago i mean they did have actually the bears come into their house win that game they went from 5-3 to 12-4 beat the Cowboys in the playoffs. I believe, was that the one where Cook caught the ball right on the sideline when Rodgers made that stupid, crazy-ass throw? I think that was the... Right?
Am I wrong? Would that be the one? Right? Is it Jared Cook? Right?
The tight end who got his feet and his toes right there? Is that the one? Sure, that was the season. You know, and I think that might have been that game. The Cowboys won at 26-21, and then they lost at the Seahawks in the conference championship game.
That was the one with the onside kick and all the crazy. What a playoffs. Oh, my gosh. That was 2017. Was that 2017?
That was 2017. Okay, so I lose track. I'm sorry of all the time Rodgers beat your team. No offense. It was the 2016 season, though.
But I think the RELAX is what he's referring to. Listen, the only reason why I'm bringing it up here just to be accurate, just to give everyone some thoughts about what he's saying there. Different teams. And plus, you know, I think Rodgers is reading the room and he knows, like, for him to tell everyone to relax might not be accurate. There's reason to be concerned in Pittsburgh, and I think he knows it too.
Pat Friermuth said, nobody's missing, by the way, film sessions there. And that everyone's kind of hung up on what Roger said there, as opposed to him also saying after the game, everybody's got to play better, I've got to play better. But the R-E-L-A-X of the situation is removing what it's looked like, five losses in seven games, and removing, again, their issues on offense in terms of the playmakers. I hammered this point the other day in repeating it here. It's not great when, you know, Tony Romo is saying during the broadcast that some 300-pound tight end is their difference maker on offense when they've got a $30 million receiver they've acquired in DK Metcalf and a running back room that, you know, can get it done.
I mean, there have been games where Jalen Warren and Kenneth Gainwell had games, But that's not what, I mean, you know, Zach Orr isn't, I don't think, losing too much sleep this weekend in the defensive meeting rooms right now. I mean, who is he circling? Got to stop this guy. Is it Darnell Washington? Is that who it is?
I mean, I don't even know how you scheme that. It's just like, you know how you stop Washington? Like 19 hats to the ball. Like that's it. If he's got it, you know, no matter where you are on the field, You just got to make sure you're there to try and tackle him because it's a team effort.
And that's the issue here. But the honest truth is there are the horses on defense, and I know they just had a billion yards rushing. They just gave up the most yards in this new stadium they've ever given up on the ground. And now here comes Derrick Henry. That's a problem.
but there still are the guys in the room right i mean uh there are guys in the room and they did add adam adam feeling and see if that might work in terms of adding another receiver to the equation you know and an an old guy an old ed with another one in rogers i bet you rogers and feeling will just sit down and go if i do this this is what i'm going to ask you to do and feeling's like i got it and I kind of watched you from the sidelines twice a year. I'm trying to be positive. I'm trying to be net positive here. One of your best qualities. I appreciate you saying that because at the end of the day, you are tied for the lead.
You would with a win, okay, in Baltimore, I understand. You would with a win here take over first place. Yeah. with four games to go and come home and have a Monday night game against the Dolphins team and just hope it's like 20 degrees outside and good luck. Rogers has one last shot at the Lions in Detroit.
They could be reeling at that point. Cleveland and home for Baltimore. There's a path through here to go three and two and potentially if two of the three wins are against the Ravens or four and two, if you sweep the Ravens, I mean this. It feels like nine wins will get this done.
Well, you even thought an overreaction Monday. Eight and nine would get it done. It feels like eight's probably going to get it done. There's no world beaters, except for potentially Joe Burrow coming from down the stretch. I'm just saying, it's not like you're in a situation like the Bengals are, where you're two behind.
That's my R-E-L-A. The fan base on the eastern side of the state needs the chill pill, as I've said multiple times for the Eagles fans. There's a relax there. There's a crossroads for both these teams. I think there's no two ways about it.
For sure. I mean, but they do face each other again. There's still a month to go. And it would be a heck of a tie break to go into the final game of the season saying we've already won the previous one. I mean, that would be monster big.
so it's a huge game and they hate each other and it's a rivalry that's awesome arguably the best afc rivalry and i know i'm really treading in some deep waters there but when the ravens and steelers play each other crazy s happens and they can't stand each other and it's fun paint swapping affair and then in the midst of all this is if the steelers don't make a good run what happens with them and Mike Tomlin?
Okay. Fans are going as vocal as ever. I mean, trust me, I've heard them all the way here in the left coast. Certainly when I've been caping for Tomlin all this time. And he said this week, you know, hey, when fans are cheering fire you, like, what's your thoughts on the sentiment?
He says, I agree with them, essentially. Which is like, okay, does that mean in your mind you'd even agree to the idea of you not being here? Which is not his intent. But it just definitely is a room read for all of us to keep a check on it. And Ben Roethlisberger went there.
Is this on his pod? Is this on his podcast? Yeah. Footballing? Footballing.
Oh, he's footballing. B-A-H-L. Is it, were you stressing the balling part of it? Balling! Foot.
Balling! Okay, with Mike Tomlin as the subject matter on Ben Roethlisberger's pod. It's being talked about around here a lot. Maybe it's time. Maybe it's a clean house time.
Maybe it is. Maybe it's time. And I like Coach Tomlin. I have a lot of respect for Coach Tomlin. But maybe it's best for him too.
Maybe a fresh start for him is what best Whether that in the pros Maybe go be Penn State head coach You you know he would do in penn state he probably go win national championships penn state head coach well two things first of all um you remember when lincoln riley was before he went to usc and the usc job was open and mike tomlin was rumored to be going there or at least a target of usc's search and he led to this led to one of our favorite drops in the history of this show Never say never, but never. That was his response to coaching USC. I can imagine, again, why would he want to go into a world where free agency starts whenever? And why would anybody want to stroll from the NFL into college football right now? It would just be beyond me.
And we're all talking about how, could you imagine? I'm leaving the Pittsburgh Steelers in the middle of the season like I'm Bobby Petrino screaming pig suey after getting my ass handed to me in Atlanta within days of leaving the Atlanta Falcons. You imagine if Tomlin leaves now because, you know what, I'm reading the room, everybody. I'm reading the room, and I see you won't be gone. And you know what, the best position for me is to go to a spot where they have kicked the tires on 19 coaches.
Allegedly, all 18 of them have said no because of who's representing them. Exactly. And I'm going to go to that situation and go to college football. But because, you know, the signing period's now. And the portal is, let me get this right.
You know, I'd rather be dealing with Penn State's transfer portal than getting ready for the Cleveland Browns in Week 17. I'm leaving now. This whole time I've been with Pittsburgh. I've got to go because I want to be Penn State's go. Could you imagine?
No.
Okay. So that's not happening. You can say never. But, again, Big Ben's read of the room, essentially coming out and saying, you know, I think it's over. I just like Ben with the super passive-aggressive, not his style, of course.
Nice. I like Coach Tomlin. I have a lot of respect for him. Really? If you really cared about that, dude, wouldn't you be like, man, I love Tomlin.
We won a Super Bowl together. We had a lot of great times. It was just like in passing. Listen, I don't want to go down the road of what, was going down. All I do know, I remember, is Big Ben was a game manager under Bill Cowher.
Right. And when Cowher left, suddenly Mike Tomlin's now there. And Big Ben was no longer the game manager. It's like, go win it for us, Ben. Like, say, the Super Bowl, when you're winging it around.
And one of the reasons why he was an MVP, potentially, arguably, is what was going on off the field. despite him making every damn throw. But let's give it to the wide receiver who caught them.
Okay. I mean, his first ballot Hall of Fame credentials is without question for Big Ben. And part of that, obviously, there was Arians, and then there was, you know, Wizenhunt. And there were a bunch of coordinators and coaches that Ben wanted, essentially. Again, I don't want to stroll down the road where I'm going to get 19 million texts or tweets from Steeler fans saying, you're off, because I clearly wasn't physically there, but I was on NFL Network set watching all this stuff.
So I hope he's not sitting there thinking Tomlin had nothing to do with anything there. You're right, though, Chris. Just the way that was said, I picked up on that, too. That was just very interesting.
Okay. Rich, I like you. I like you. I got a lot of respect for you. I got a lot of respect for you.
Oh, yeah. See how terrible that sounds? After all this time, right? Yeah. See how terrible that sounds?
Yeah, but we haven't won an Emmy yet. That's our Super Bowl. Not yet.
Okay. See, like the other day, I said, Rich, you know you're my man. See, that makes people know that I really mean it. Oh, thank you. I appreciate you saying that.
I keep what you're saying, Chris. Let's take a break here on the Rich Eisen Show. And we'll have our friend Andrew Santino join us here. He was supposed to be here, but he's under the weather. But now I'm seeing where he's zooming in from his background.
You want to pop that up real quick before we take a break? And Andrew Santino will join us next, feeling terrible from some tropical. But wait, I mean, I'm told that's his background. All right. Andrew Santino, when we come back here on The Rich Eisen Show.
The Rich Eisen Show, the podcast. that's uh andrew santino uh the comedian and actor here on the rich eisen show in support of this saturday at los angeles valley college and i'm glad that our radio audience has returned because we're here on uh espn 7 10 los angeles for everybody who's listening to us in la in specific or the surrounding areas or if you're going to be in la you want to make it a great event all proceeds benefits special olympic southern california uh this saturday in the afternoon 12 30 to 4 at la valley college and again you said there's a home run derby that's going down uh kreischer and bill burgh just two people are going to be pitching maybe hitting as well if you're not a fan of bill burr or kreischer and and and you're in the batter's box and they're pitching can you remove whatever fence there is to protect them so maybe you can start hitting liners up the middle andrew you know i know that might be the spirit of the event but what do you think can we do that we also we're also doing a reverse a reverse beaning so if it's a bad pitch you're allowed to throw it back at the pitcher as hard as you can so i like it if yeah i just it's just something we're trying out for the first time and uh nice i like it we'll see how it we'll see how it works out i like it and there's also prizes for most home runs what best batter walk up what's that oh yeah we've got a we bunch a bunch of different superlatives we've got like greatest walk up. But you know, the best, the best showing the best style, whoever has the best sauce walking up to the plate. We also have, we also have a prize for someone that strikes out someone that completely can't hit the ball at all. You're going to get a little something to take home.
But there's a bunch of fun little prizes and also drive box. I should mention drive box, which does mobile golf simulators is going to be there. And you could try your hand at winning a couple of new putters from bet and already thanks to family at bet and already for donating three beautiful putters from their studio line. And you can hit a longest drive closer to the pin and get in the drive box and try all that stuff out and win too. It's a lot of winning.
That sounds like a total... How did you get involved in this? How did you get involved? You know, honestly, one of our producers on Bad Friends, his mother and father both worked for Special Olympics in Minnesota. And I was like, oh, I kind of want to do something with you guys.
And then a good friend of mine, who I've known for years, started working for Special Olympics Southern California. and it was kind of kismet. I was like, dude, let's do something. And it was just, the universe kind of dropped it in my lap a little bit. It was kind of a beautiful coincidence in the universe.
And then he said, let's do this if we can this year and every year. I said, let's make this the first of many.
So the universe gave it to me. And everybody, again, needs to check this out here in Southern California this weekend in the Valley at Los Angeles Valley College. Ho-Ho Homers with Andrew Santino. All the dollars, every cent goes towards Special Olympics Southern California right here on the Rich Eisen Show. There's an individual who may be on the screen with some fake tropical background who had his beloved Chicago Bears going 11 and 6 on the season when he came in earlier in the summer.
That would be you. Who knew you were underselling potentially what was going on? I just I can't believe this. And, you know, everybody from Chicago is feeling the same way. We're a little nervous to talk about it.
I feel nervous right now. I'm going to start sweating because I don't want to jinx it. You sure that's not being under the weather? You sure that's not the Hmong, Andrew? You sure it's not what it is?
I don't know what I caught. I don't know what I caught. I mean, I have been eating a lot of street food lately, so we'll see. But no, but I'm telling you, Rich, I'm shocked. I'm happy.
I am nervous. I mean, I think, are we going to take one of two from Green Bay? I think I did say we'd take one of two from them. No, you did not, sir. You said you were going to sweep them.
That's what you said. There you go. You see it on the screen. You have them. By the way, them finishing four and one is 100% possible.
You know, it is. Obviously, Green Bay is pretty damn stout. But, I mean, with the way they've been playing, you, you, you, you know, you got a few of them wrong during this win streak. But who the hell wouldn't? You know what I mean?
I'm shocked. I'm shocked. And I'm, and I'm super happy. I think, I think Ben Johnson is, is whatever he needs for me, Ben, if you're listening, I'll do anything for you, buddy, whatever you need me to do. I'll wash your car on the weekends.
I'll come shovel the driveway.
Now it's snowing down there.
So whatever you need, just hit me up. Andrewsantino.com. Yeah. Look at him. Shirts off, baby.
Shirts off. Yeah. Burt Kreischer is going to sue. He's like, that's my thing. What the hell?
But I don't believe Ben would be mistaken for Burt. Shirt off. No, different body. A little bit different body. I think Burt's a little bit more toned than Ben is what you're saying.
But same vibe. Same crazy ass vibe, though. That's for sure. Yeah, I mean, he did something. And he found a way to make these pieces really work together.
I mean, I'm shocked. I'm so happy. And, you know, shout out to Loveland and Komet, you know, who are just playing great ball. And Swift is like, I don't know, man, I'm I'm I'm shocked. I'm happy.
I'm excited. I just hope we beat up Green Bay and our and the Lions just because I want those division wins. And and the Niners, I couldn't care less about because I, you know, they're not whatever. I'd like to beat them, too. But whatever.
They're not not as important as Green Bay and Detroit.
Well, I mean, for sure, it is better than anybody could have thought coming into the season. And I don't blame you. 11-6, I thought at the time, was really pie in the sky. And if they lose two, if they go two and three the rest of the way, that would be their record, which would still be good enough to make the playoffs and potentially not winning the division. All right, our radio audience is going away.
so I want to say thank you for coming on in support of Los Angeles Valley College hosting Ho Ho Homers with Andrew Santino everybody who's in the sound of our voice here in LA please show up there on Saturday The Rich Eisen Show Podcast
