Let's start with the obvious. I've never seen a game like the Sunday night football game to wrap up week number one of the 2025 season. And I know that sounds like an exaggeration. It sounds like hyperbole. It sounds like I'm just saying it game.
As I said, in the instant reaction that I shot on my phone last night before passing out because I didn't know what hemisphere I was on. But I've got to say words like crazy, insane. I've never seen that before. It gets thrown around. a little bit too often in our sports conversation world when it doesn't merit it.
I've never seen a game like that. That was crazy, nuts, and insane. That was as wild an affair as you can see. And just don't take my word for it. I think you would agree, everyone in this room, whoever's watching us or listening to us would agree that you've never seen a game like that.
And I've got a statistic to back it up. Buffalo becomes the first team in NFL history to be down by 15 or more points with under four minutes left and win the game in regulation. We've seen it before happen in overtime. We've never seen it not go to overtime. We've never seen somebody just say, we don't need extra time.
We're going to take care of it right now. Only the second time, and I guess if you're 57, 58 years old, you've never seen a game like this if you're a Buffalo Bills fan. Only the second time in Buffalo franchise history, they've come back from 15 or more points, entering the fourth quarter and won. The last time was, of course, against the New York Jets in the regular season, obviously. 1967.
They were down 17-0. They won 20-17. And then for all of us to settle in and say, okay, let's see the very first ever week one matchup between the last two MVPs of the league and see what happens. Let's see if it can live up to the billing. And then Lamar Jackson comes out and has an 18th career game with 200 or more passing yards and 70 or more rushing yards.
That's the most all-time. The only other player who's had more than 11 such career games, the only ones who have 11 such career games are Russell Wilson and the guy he looked like he was beating last night in Josh Allen. It's the 15th career game with a passer rating for Jackson of 140 or better. He's now five behind Aaron Rodgers. Fifth on the all-time list for such a thing.
Oh, and there's Derrick Henry. There's Derrick Henry doing Derrick Henry things. I've said this before. I'll say it again. By the way, I'm so glad that years ago.
We got to find the exact date where I said this guy's a Hall of Famer. I think it was about five years ago. It was around 2020. I said that. But he wasn't when you said it.
Okay, good enough. but I saw what was coming, which is him. You did call it. You did call it. And I'll say, again, what I've said here multiple times as well.
Nobody runs the ball in such a way that you can imagine what it sounds like. The whistling of air, the whoosh, or in the way that his quarterback has described him, the ka-chow he has. Since we're on Disney+, I should make a Pixar Cars reference. He did call him Lightning McQueen, and he does look like Lightning McQueen when he runs. He does look like he's faster than fast.
Yeah, but he's so much bigger than Lightning McQueen.
So massive. He's like Lightning McQueen in Tomater's body. Hey, that's funny. There you go, Tomater. Holy smokes.
That's funny right there. It's insane. He recorded his 13th career game with 150 or more rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. He's now tied all-time with Jim Brown, who he passed in the all-time rushing touchdowns list yesterday. He now has the most games of 150 or more rushing yards at age 30 or older, second most tied with Tiki, one behind sweetness.
He did that last night. He's now come up with seven straight games with a touchdown against the Bills. he did all that and then deandre hopkins gets targeted for the first time he comes up with a circus touchdown catch and zay flowers is running like the wind after the catch wide ass open we saw all of that last night and then we saw like i saw friday night calling in youtube a fire drill game winner to cap it all off from a guy who's 80 years old who was sitting on his couch on Thursday and Matt Prater. Matt Prater was sitting at home because Bass was deep under the sea. He was out.
Let's call up Matt Prater and get him on a play on a red eye. on a red eye. Do kickers not get private jets? No. No.
They folded his 41-year-old ass into a seat. They made him go through security. Hope he's TSA pre-check. And he was the one who ended the first half on a field goal that we didn't think was going to happen because the Ravens were already having sandwiches in the locker room. They ran off the field.
And, you know, John Hussey's just like, Ravens, hold on a minute, come back. You gotta stop a field goal, and those three points were pretty damn big. Yeah. And we saw the Bills try one two-pointer after another after another and couldn't get it. We thought they were chasing points and they were out of it.
Bills fans left. Bills fans left. The Ravens doink their last extra point. Doink. Am I missing anything?
Oh yeah, the the slap in the head that yeah yeah lamar's shoving that dude well i mean that was listen you shouldn't touch fans and the league i think will find him don't touch the players but don't touch the players that dude deserved to shove yeah i mean come on what are you doing he was well within his rights to to do that i think i mean the thing that's crazy if you told me someone was going to throw an object on the field like was a w nba game it would have been in buffalo that was somewhere else. What the hell happened yesterday? And it was green. Whole bunch of stuff. What is happening?
Based on last Sunday night, what a game, and the whole country watching. I don't know if we're going to see another game like that this year, and I can't believe I'm saying that in this sport where anything can happen, obviously. I hope you're wrong, because that was glorious. But we've got a clubhouse leader, and it was the Sunday night football game, 81 points. It's the most points the Ravens have ever scored in their franchise history and lost.
The Bills have now been involved in all three games since 2023 in which a team allowed 40 more points despite winning the game. Buffalo beat Baltimore last night beat Detroit 48 in week 15 And if you remember that was the week after they scored 40 and lost to the Rams What the hell did we see last night? Look at that chart. Look at that chart. Wow.

so there's that what a game and what a win for the Bills because they're not only one up on the rest of the AFC East which they've won for the last let me look it up 19 years it feels like and they're also up one on the Ravens they're also one up on the Chiefs and the Texans coming into the year you're like okay those final four might be the final four in the afc again baltimore bills texans chiefs only one of them's one and oh and it's the buffalo bills and you gotta also feel this being the first game of the final season of high mark they wore a patch commemorative patch last night maybe there's fairy dust in that place they have that feeling walking off We have Josh Allen after the game. There he is. Roll it. It took everybody there. I'm just proud of our team for staying in it.
No one on the sideline blinked. I mean, down 15 points, whatever we were, with five, six minutes left. Staying with it. Fans leaving, you know, the stadium. You know, you've got to play this game for 60 minutes, and that's a really good outfit that we just played.
and, you know, God willing, we take care of business how we're supposed to and how we think we will. You know, that's probably a team we'll see again.
So, you know, they're a greatly coached team. Hats off to them for having a really good game plan. But, you know, we stuck in there, and I'm just proud of our guys. Fourth-reigning MVP with four more offensive touchdowns in week one of the season. The others are named Brady, Favre, and Thurman Thomas, who is now second on the all-time rushing touchdown list.
for the Buffalo Bills. That's right. Josh Allen is now the biggest touchdown maker with his legs in the history of the Buffalo Bills. 20th career primetime start in week one for Josh Allen. And he won it.
When his 20th career primetime start in week one. That's what I'm saying.
so now he's six behind Mahomes for the most quarterback wins since 2018 in prime time seventh career game with two or more passing touchdowns two or more rushing touchdowns that's the most all-time he's now three clear of Steve Young in that regard I mean what what more can you say about him what more can you say about this guy other than the fact that he is the MVP of last year and what we just saw last night because you knew every single time the Ravens made a mistake this guy was going to make it cash. He wasn't just going to punt it away or run out of downs. He took advantage of it. When Derrick Henry put the ball on the turf, you just knew he was going to score. You knew it.
You felt it. You sensed it. It was going to happen. Just didn't know he was going to find a tight end named Hawes. was he taken in the past Quintino guillotine league we were down we were down a TE4 at that point I mean honestly Coleman, Keon what a great game 8 catches, 112 yards most of them in those finals the ball bounced off its own player into his hands in the end zone crazy I've talked about this game long enough I'm remembering crazy ass stuff I didn't mention before.
Well, the best thing Keon did, which is not scoring at the end of the game, really. Yeah. Him getting tripped up.
Well, I mean, you're giving the Ravens one last shot. Yeah. They had the ball back with like 39, 40 seconds. And it ended with a fire drill score with no time left. And I saw one of those at the end of the first half from Harrison Butker in Brazil.
Matt Prater. He's played a gajillion games. Yeah. Great question asked of him. Listen to the response.
We've played for a long time in this league. Have you been a part of a game that crazy? Yeah, we had some crazy years in Denver with Tebow. All right, you got me. All right, you got me.
Because I was there for one of those Tebow time. I was there. The Jets game, right? Against the Jets. Yeah, yeah.
And Team Tebow, for three and a half quarters, looked like he was throwing the ball with his feet. And then four minutes to go, He turned into Steve Young. Or Josh Allen. Josh Allen keeps running, too. Unbelievable.
As for the Ravens. Wow. John Harbaugh had this to say afterwards. And I've got to tell you, I do agree with him. Hit it.
Yeah, we'll go back to work. We'll go back to work like we always do. We've been here before. This is how the NFL works. It's a tough league.
You play tough games in tough environments. Hopefully you learn from it and keep getting better. You get better throughout the course of the season, become the team you're going to be. It's a long journey. Yeah, there's going to be a lot of time for coulda, shoulda, woulda, things of that nature, certainly if they have to walk into potentially the final game of the history of Highmark Stadium in an AFC championship game, which could very well be the case.
And we'll be talking all the time, oh, this game's in Buffalo, could have been in Baltimore, blah, blah, blah. Just stay the course, Matt. I was spending the top of that fourth quarter, not going to lie. I will shoot you straight here on this program. When I just said to you earlier, I did not know what hemisphere I was in.
Just quickly. These are all, by the way, I'm not complaining. This is first class champagne problems. 100%. From Wednesday after I left the show on Wednesday to Saturday afternoon.
Okay. That was when I left Los Angeles, when I got back to Los Angeles. I spent 22 and a half hours on a plane. probably more than I slept by a wide margin over the days that I was there in Brazil. The only reason why I mentioned this to you is I did not.
And then I did game day morning for four hours on NFL network. I didn't know what time it was. I didn't know what hemisphere I was in first time in my life. You know, I, I, I felt that run over by jet lag and all that stuff. I thought to myself, this game is over.
You know what? I'm just going to find out what it was like in the morning. Obviously I'm glad I did not. But I'm bringing this all up to say, I was sitting there saying, the Ravens are without a doubt the best team in the NFL, all due respect to Green Bay, and also, certainly in the AFC, I would sit here and say, the Harbaugh's are coaching the top two teams through week one in the AFC. If you're just taking just a one-week snapshot, and I was sitting there going, do the Bills need more weapons?
What do they need? Do they need a better back end of the defense? What do they need? That's what I was thinking. And then a half an hour later, I was so stunned by what I saw.
But you can't sit here and say the Ravens are less than. It's just every single January and every Ravens fan knows this, or early February if that's when the AFC championship games that they played in occur in that month. It's always something. And last night, it was a fumble by, of all people, Derrick Henry. You know, a decision.
Do you punt it? Do you not? Fourth and three. Do you go for it? I mean, I can't sit here and say that was a bad choice, this was bad.
It just breaks. You know, you played in Buffalo. That was one long tick, it seemed, although they were replaying it on slow motion replay on NBC before the end of the half. Those three points were big. Big.
You know? I mean, what else can you say? They're insanely talented. That Kyle Hamilton. I mean, I could rave about him for the rest of this show.
They're still the Baltimore Ravens. But that one's going to leave a mark. It hurts. It hurts. And you look at the Ravens' next few games.
Yeah, that could be the ultimate motivator, too. They're home for Cleveland. Then they have a Monday night home date with Detroit, who they should be, based on what we saw on Sunday. Again, and then they're at Kansas City with Houston at home, and then the Rams at home. Four of their next five are in Baltimore.
They can bounce back. Absolutely they can bounce back. You know, obviously after Cleveland, They play four teams that were part of the final eight of last year's playoffs. Ain't easy. I'm not worried about them.
Until that happens, until January hits and February hits, can the crazy not happen for them? Let's avoid the crazy. Good luck. I don't know how you do it, how you coach for it. Yeah, I thought about doing an overreaction, Rich, of being just like the Ravens are fine.
It's fine. And it's just one kind of fluke game. And, you know, it is what it is. They're still a high-powered offense. Clean up a little bit of the defense.
And, you know, they're going to be right back there. Last year, they were an Isaiah Likely toenail away from coming up with a big dub. The year before, Flowers weirdly fumbled on the goal line. Oh, please. And then, obviously, Mark Andrews is one of the best humans I've met in the NFL.
You know, I think they're fine. I get it. That was insane. Nuts. Crazy.
We take a break. Aaron Rodgers did Aaron Rodgers things vintage. against the Jets. The Packers will talk about them. What in the world are the Giants going to do at starting quarterback?
Is it Jackson Dart time already? Are the Lions in deep trouble? I mean, there's a lot of week one stuff. We hit it on Overreaction Monday, but then there's us right now. We take a break.

He said Jets are going to lose week one and Rodgers is going to be smiling. It's going to be tough to take that smile. Guess what? Rodgers left the field smiling. And a little bit of trolling.
A little bit of trolling. Here, coach. But guess what? I don't blame him. Aaron Rodgers went into MetLife on Sunday and won the game with his arm and with his neck-up ability.
And we were all wondering, is he going to be able to handle the heat? Is he going to be able to handle the sacking that might come his way? Is he going to get out of the way, pass rush this, pass rush that? Is he going to be able with his 41-year-old body be able to do it? The answer is yes, yes, yes, yes.
All of it. He has every reason to feel great today. Four touchdowns, zero interceptions, a passer rating 136.7. His four passing touchdowns. How is he going to do with the receivers?
How many people stop you when they're talking to you, recognizing you from this program? Top five question? How's Rodgers going to do with the Steelers? Any questions? I got a lot of Steeler friends, so I get a lot of texts.
I mean, I get that nonstop. We're not going to apologize for winning. What's he going to do in Pittsburgh? How's it going to work?
Well, I mean, we obviously have way more runway left here. But his four passing touchdowns, he became the first quarterback in Steelers history to have four passing touchdowns in his debut for the team. Ever. Last quarterback to have four touchdown passes in a game for the Steelers. Want to guess?
You know the answer. His name's Big Ben. Last time Rodgers had four touchdown passes in a game, period, was when he beat the Bears. That's a shocker. In 2021, his last MVP season, he hasn't done it in four years.
That's how he's going to do it. Of course, that pass rating is higher than any pass rating he had with the Jets. he found Calvin Austin, Jalen Warren, Ben Skronik, and Johnnie Smith for his touchdowns.
Okay. So have your head on a swivel. And I think, wait a minute, were any of them hand-picked by him to join the team? Nope. No, again, I point this out to say that everybody thought he wouldn't be able to play within the Steelers' world because it's his world.
There's only one world, and it's his.
Now, will we have a story mid-season about him and Arthur Smith gear grinding? Maybe. that's a conversation Rodgers is not going to be able to do it in the Steelers way because it's only his way you gotta give it up man you gotta give it up 8 of 10 for 71 yards and 3 passing touchdowns off of play action and this is when he was taking sacks too unreal kudos to him and so of course he was going to spike the football in his own understated pickup. Keep your ears open because you might pick up a few things style of talking with the media afterwards. I love beating everybody.
So it doesn't matter who it is. I really only played 18 games here.
So I was actually talking to Brees about that pregame. He said, how does it feel? I said, honestly, I was here for two years, but it doesn't come close to how it's going to feel playing Green Bay because that was, you know, 18 years of my career.
So it was nice to win, especially, you know, hearing some of the cat calls out there and the boo birds. You know, I'm not sensitive about that. I expected that, you know, I kind of liked that. But there were probably people in the organization didn't think I could play anymore.
So it was nice to remind those people that I still can. First of all, Jets fans who are booing this guy. What? Because his Achilles wasn't strong enough. And then after that, after that, you know.
I think there were other things to boo him about. But we can remove that back page of the post.
So now he can play. I mean, that's. Oh. Oh, so like what he wasn't trying his best for the Jets. Is that what they were saying?
He wasn't performing to the best of his ability. He was garbage. And he brought in all his friends and his coaching buddies. And then he goes somewhere else and torches them.
Well, he goes somewhere else. How are they supposed to feel? He's definitely more healthy than he was with the Jets. I bet you at any point in time, the Steelers aren't going to fire Tomlin. The front office is not going to be changed.
And the owners are going to stay out of the mix. Yep. And Rodgers isn't being asked to be the savior. Just show up. If the defense can't stop Justin Fields, we'll talk about him in a second.
Then try and win the game for us, Aaron, and put it on the foot of our, what did Tomlin call Chris Boswell? Serial killer killer. 60-yard field goal. Man, I would love to have seen a GoPro on Larry David win a field goal, won it from 60 yards like a jumping frog. He wants the goalposts removed to beat the Jets.
But still, the Jets had a chance to win it and couldn't get it done. But this is about the Steelers for the moment. Rodgers did take one last little jab at the New York Jets. You spoke about the meeting with Aaron Glenn on McAfee a few months ago. beating him.
Is there significance in that since he basically told you to your face that he didn't think you were right for that team? Yes, that's what he did.
So there's significance in beating him for you? I was happy to beat everybody associated with the Jets. Listen, you can't blame Aaron Glenn either for telling Rodgers last two years wasn't up to what anybody around here wanted. We need a fresh, clean start around here. I don't have a problem with Aaron Glenn saying that to Aaron Rodgers.
The way in which he had communicated it, the way that Rodgers says that they communicated it, where they could have basically FaceTimed with him. Or they just said, hey, we want to do it face-to-face. Come on out here and said, listen, this is now history. But you can't blame the Jets for wanting to move on. Congratulations to Rodgers.
He showed up and he showed out.
Now comes Seattle. DK is going to have his run against his former team there. And as Rodgers pointed out, he's got Green Bay on his schedule. And the Bears. He's going through the AFC North and the AFC East as well.
And the NFC North. Must see television every single one. And certainly if Rodgers is going to show up like he could throw four touchdowns without a pick, we just assume the defense has got to be better. The Steelers have got a fun, must-see schedule down the road in every single way. Big W for them.
As for the Jets, as for the New York Jets, Justin Fields looked great, man. Jets, have they ever had a quarterback like this? I mean, ever. Not ever. Not ever.
I mean, red zone problems the Jets have, let's just have him run it in or skip in. He looked great. Him and Garrett Wilson and Brees Hall, the fact that the Jets have an offense that is a problem, I mean, they were scoring on occasion or moving the ball at will against the Steelers defense. And Jet fans, you tell me the last time you saw something like that.
Something like that. I mean Brees had 100 yards and 38 catching he had only one 100 yard game last season which is again why it didn't work out for Rodgers although I understand Rodgers didn't get the running game yesterday and still threw it for four touchdowns but Brees had 107 yards and Justin Fields was efficient 16-22 his passer rating was a buck 19 Garrett Wilson, five yards shy of 100 yards. Who's going to be that second receiver? That's a question. But, you know, does it matter if Fields is a major offensive weapon in a way that, I'll say it, like Lamar and Josh Allen and Jaden Daniels and Jalen Hurts?
I mean, the Jets have a two-way threat at quarterback. How can he progress if forced to have to win the game with his arm? what will happen. I mean, these are all questions to be answered. But, again, you don't raise a banner off of coming close, but the Jets have got to feel good about that, right?
Fields had 48 yards rushing and two touchdowns. You know? He's got his fourth career game with multiple rushing touchdowns. The 32 points were the season high for the Jets last year, and that's week one. And you know Aaron Glenn's going to figure out the defense a little bit better.
I mean, you've got to feel good about that. I mean, the Bills are coming in next. That's a big moment, but the Jets have beaten the Bills in New York. They've been able to do that. They've got to do that, obviously.
Now, I mean, you look at the way the Dolphins played and how the Patriots couldn't win in week one at home. You've got to go to Tampa and then at Miami. The Jets have what it takes, can they put it together and not lose a game like the one they did at home These are questions that we going to have to have answered but you got to feel good if you a Jet fan right now based off of what you saw Because Fields, he was slinging it, man. He was slinging it and running it and came this close to being able to spike the football on the Steelers if he wanted to in the way that Rodgers did with the Jets. Okay, first of all, two comments just really quickly. T.J. is talking about how his fantasy team had the most points. I believe that's our fantasy team. It was a lead-in.
I mean, you're cutting me out of the narrative. It was leading into you coming on. You know what it is? Ashton, let's talk about this. He talks about you like Fight Club.
He never mentioned it. Ever. I barely exist. And you have to coax it out of him. You're like, who was it?
I know, you're coaxing it out of him. That's right. He's got an informant. I don't even live in that house anymore that's when we used to be friends that's when you could talk smack about the Cowboys last time it was like the 1990s when you guys beat us I'm sorry, one more thing, I didn't mean to interrupt you I got two things I've been thinking about So one is just a lot about the Bears and the fact that TJ's trying to cut me out of the fantasy team. The second thing is that I realized something yesterday.
TJ and I got an argument yesterday. Nobody cares about your fantasy team. That's true. Nobody else. Nobody else.
It's like talking about your fantasy team and what happened with your fantasy team is like telling your friends what you dreamed about last night. Nobody cares. Nobody cares. Nobody cares. It was your dream, and it's your fantasy.
So, yeah, you know what?

has a shot against our defense. Our secondary is extraordinary. We've added speed and strength. We've got Deo on the edge. We've got Sweat on the edge.
I think it's going to be a nightmare for him. I think the defense is going to make him have to read, and they're going to contain him, make sure he's not running. We're going to disguise our shells. We're going to bracket Jefferson. It's going to be nasty for the Minnesota Vikings tonight.
Now, keep in mind, he's basically, this kid, JJ, and he's great, but he's played the equivalent of like one season of football at the college level. I just don't think he's ready for what's coming at him tonight. All right.
Well, I didn't expect the Wolverines slight, but it's okay. At the Detroit Lions week two, Ashton, what happens next? I think that we take the Lions out. The Lions yesterday, I was shocked. I thought the Lions were going to be a lot more competitive against the Packers yesterday.
I was actually shocked. It just didn't seem like they've got it together. They've got a new OC. They got a new defensive coordinator. They just didn't look as sharp as they have looked.
And what's going on with Hutchinson? We don't like, is he playing? Is he not playing? I think we get the win against the Lions. 2-0.
Now then. I'm sure, I'm certain you're going to watch this game where you're zooming in from right now that looks like the famous barn I hear about all the time. Bears and Cowboys, late window, week three on Fox. What happens, Ashton? it's in Chicago.

Now look, I thought the Cowboys looked pretty good. I thought Dak looked pretty good. CD needs to get on the jugs because he dropped some balls this week. It's just true. I'm telling you, he needs to get on the jugs.
I actually thought the Cowboys could win that game, but CD was just dropping balls. And that wasn't pretty. But it's in Chicago. and I think the Bears are going to be riding high off of their first two wins. It's going to be a tough, hard-fought game, but I think we got that one.
Honestly, let's just jump to the bye week. I think we go into the bye week 4-0.
So you beat the Raiders.
Now you come out of the bye at the commander's side of the dreadful Hail Mary, Ashton Kutcher. That's right. What happens at 4-0? That's a grudge game. I'm actually going to – I'm flying to Washington to watch this game.
