This is the Rich Eisen Show. It's our house! Hello! Live from the Rich Eisen Show studio in Los Angeles. I think Caleb's got a ways to go.

Williams wants to throw it out of this set. That ball's gonna be picked off. They're just trying to overload him with everything to try to speed up his process. And the plan is from here then to start to narrow that down. Earlier on the show, boost of Pro Football Talk, Mike Florio.

Coming up, four-time NBA champion, John Sally. Plus, your phone calls, latest news, and more. And now. Yeah. Mr.

Rich Eisen. That's right. Hour number two of the Rich Eising Show is on the air. Daniel Jeremiah is making his way to the Charges facility, but not in time to appear on this show today. I said, what about the next time you're here?

And he said, he's not coming back to the Charges facility until tomorrow.

So he will be on tomorrow's Rich Rising Show. Look how we roll here on the program. It's so well planned, our booking sometimes. Or it's at the vagaries of the LA or the Southern California area traffic patterns. At 844-204, which is the number entire hour is free for us to hang out here together.

Mike Del Tufo, Susie, and I finished last night the Billy Joel documentary on HBO. which is available right HBO Max, pardon me, available right here on Roku. I I cannot stress enough. How amazing it is. And for any fan of Billy Joel, Which means most everybody who's breathing on planet Earth.

You have to see it. Guys so flawed, and some of this there's backstories of of his music making and his his personal life all being melded together. It's beautiful. you know, uh disconcerting sometimes. And One of the greatest documentaries I've ever seen.

Can't stress enough. You would love it. Yeah, I have to I will 100% I'm gonna watch it. You gotta have the the I'm a zone. I have to be in the zone and I have to watch the whole thing.

That's five hours. Oh, no, I'll watch the whole thing, and I will. That's what I'll do. I'll have to watch the whole thing. It's five hours.

I can't wait. I just gotta have the time to do it. You gotta have five hours together in order to bang it out.

So enjoy it. Enjoy it. And I can't wait to hear what you think about it. Speaking of, I swear I didn't plan this. Speaking of New York state of mind.

It was, what was it, what was it, guys, where I woke up, heard Justin Field gets carted off? When was it? When was it? Was it just last week? Was it one week ago today?

Tuesday? Could it have been? Was it one week ago today? I forget when it was. Friday, Thursday, or Friday.

It was late last week. I mean, all these days just mold together here, right? Was it Jeff Ann?

So Yeah, you've got um The New York Jets Watching their quarterback limp off into a cart, get carted off, and needing an MRI on a toe. And um I'll be honest. I thought it was the end of the season. Aaron Glenn was kinda like, hey. Everybody, just take a breath.

And he said that After we found out it was much ado about Something. but not something so great That he's out for the rest of the preseason, let alone week one, and let alone the entire season. And my response was: Aaron, you know. You b you haven't been around a while, you know? But away how often You know?

All of us Jets fans, we crawl into our shine boxes when quarterbacks get hurt. And all the hopes are in that quarterback's Basket. And um Long story short, guess who spoke today about his toe? Oh. Justin Fields.

Hit it. I mean yeah, at first it just, you know, felt, we got our feet stepped on all the time at a practice, so it just felt normal at first when I first got it stepped on, but I tried walking off and it felt weird, like something was almost stuck in my toe.

So I didn't really know what to think. I just knew something was wrong.

So I just went on the sidelines and got carted and got the MRI and X-ray. And luckily, they said it was just located it. You know, God was definitely looking out that day, but I'm glad to be back on the field working. Yeah, I just got like this like little plastic cover. My man's up came with it, so almost like a little steel toe, but it's a plastic toe.

But yeah, we kind of came up with that idea and just to try to protect it for these next couple of weeks. If only Aaron Rodgers could have used a plastic cover. Plastic boot. Just apply just then, you know. Here, coach.

You know what I mean? Like he goes and gets sacked. And then he doesn't get up. No. And then he hobbles off the field and he hobbles into the locker room and he's done for the year.

And his entire two-year tenure with the Jets goes right down the tubes in four snaps. Yeah. I wish there was a plastic covering for that. I wish there was a plastic covering for the wounds. But there's a new Aaron in town and And feels as good and it looks like We will see him for week one.

If it's all it is, just a little, let's put a little plastic on it. You can get out there, get out there with the plastic on it. And now it's about the Aaron that's there, and it's about the Aaron that's there selling what he's trying to sell. and everybody trying to buy it. And the questions about how different it is.

Listen, it's going to be different because last year they had a coach for five weeks and then an interim coach the rest of the time. And a 40-year-old quarterback who was the one guy that everybody was following in terms of tone setting and everything else.

Now there's a 26-year-old with a plastic covering on his foot. And The Aaron who's laying down what how things are to be done is Glenn, the HC. And Garrett Wilson. with uh quite an interesting comment from the podium today about how things are different. in this Jets camp.

Yeah, just the competitiveness. Not just talking about being competitive, like, no, no, no, you got to train that way. It's got to feel like that at practice. It's got to feel like if you lose, it sucks at practice. It can't just be.

Oh, it'll, you know, we'll turn it on when the game comes, right? And, um,. I think that's the main thing that I see that's different, just the way we're practicing the intensity. The stakes, it feels like there's stakes, you know, depending on which period it is, the stakes feel higher based on. Um Whether it's a competition red zone or a two minute It feels like you won the drill when you want to drill, right?

And it feels like you lost when you lost. And to me, that's how I like it. You know, it's practice, yes, but there's also ability to. An opportunity to practice winning and get that feeling and what it takes to just do it right on a consistent basis. And I think it starts out here.

When I heard that This is what I thought. Last year's errand. and the year before that. During training camp. And for the first four snaps of the season.

Do you think that Aaron was trying to communicate to the teammates. that there are stakes in every single snap of practice. Don't you think that Aaron communicated that I do? Listen, I know the way you feel about the chewing bark, Aaron Rodgers. No, that Rodgers absolutely was.

in my estimation, telling everybody Every snap counts, guys. This gets us better. I would think that a veteran quarterback of Rodgers is. stature would say that. The whole point of it, like, you don't think so?

You're making a face over there. I just. The guy who said we need to focus on everything Outside of football, and all the outside stuff needs to go away. But who couldn't stop doing all of the outside stuff and saying about it? I I I just Find it hard to believe that that guy was like locked in 24-7.

I just find it interesting that it... And uh because Let's just then for assume for My thought process here. A quarterback named Aaron is saying, every snap counts. We got to play like your hair's on fire, even in practice. We saw what happened.

And Aaron says it now. He's the HC, and there's a sense of urgency. Maybe because the H C can cut ya. Yeah. Yeah, I like that.

As opposed to, hey, if the quarterback doesn't like you, maybe the HC is going to cut you. You know what I mean? Like, it's kind of different when it comes from the head coach. And you know how I feel about Salah. And Salah would be all gas, no breaks.

You remember, he was the guy who was looking at the receipts. Keeping what? CVS long, Salo received. He said all the right things. Salo was front man.

He did. But it just didn't work out. It didn't work out. If you ain't got no haters, you ain't popping. Right.

And so. I like that.

So. And he's a great coach. Oh, yeah. I bet you we're having Brock Purdy on. later this week.

He's scheduled to appear. Obviously, he's on the offensive side of the football, but any defensive player for sure, or He will speak to it. They will say. Sala's return as the defensive coordinator there will make a massive difference in San Francisco. Yeah, by that.

Which I also believe satisfies the thought process of many Niners fans who have been thinking that since he left. to go be the HC of the Jets. But my point is just like it helps when the H C is the one. delivering the message about urgency. And then the other Aaron's coming back week one to start the season because you know the NFL schedule makers were like, uh, We think Rogers is going to play for the Steelers, and we're going to give that on a plate.

to the National Football League audience week one, Will McDonald. Who's definitely in the mix of best pass rusher on the New York Jets? Um Had this to say about Facing Rogers week one. Yeah, you know, I always wanted to know Sack Rogers, you know, from a little kid. Actually, let me not say that because a little kid, I wasn't even interested in playing football.

But I did watch him, though. I watch him a lot. You know, once I. You know, like I said, when I first came here, obviously I wasn't able to do that computer on team, but. Uh now, you know, I think it's gonna be uh Very competitive.

I'm sure he already knows, you know, what I'm about, so I'm sure he's gonna have his head on his shoulders, you know. Obviously, he's the vet, so I'm sure he got a couple tricks up his sleeve. That's fine. Great week one game. Week one Sunday marquee, I think.

Oh yeah. Certainly in the early window. Maybe the entire You know. The entire Yay, up until the point the Lions and Packers kick off in Lambeau Field at 4:25 Eastern, 3:25 local time. That's a great early window game.

Oh, yeah. I think Panthers and Jags is kind of sneaky. No, I'm not talking sneaky. I'm talking Marquee Powell. Marky, settle in I gotta see this.

With all due respect to every other There's a lot of good games. I'm not saying there aren't. Yeah. I mean, you could make a great case for Cam Ward versus Bo Nix, as we did at the end of hour one. Bucks Falcons.

Oh, yeah, sure. Whatever quarterbacks in Cleveland. They're all higher upstairs ones compared to, oh, Rogers coming back to Met Live. Yeah, I'm with you.

Now, you said something. The other day Was it on air or off air? I think we were. I think the show had just kind of ended, I think. We were like Steelers Jets, and you gave us a total combined win number.

Yeah. You gave us a total combined win number of 18. It was high to start. Yeah. Right?

Yeah. And Steelers jets at the end of the day. 18, and then you then lowered it after TJ and I are like, wait a minute.

Well, I was looking at Vegas, too. What is it?

So Vegas has the Jets win total at five and a half. And the steelers. And the Steelers at eight and a half. That's right. So that's 14.

That's 14 combined with both of them. I would. Take the combined over there. Five and a half. Listen, say what you will about the Jets, man, but five and a half.

That cupboard is not bare. That cupboard is definitely not bare. No, all that hinges on fields. Of course. And how you think he's going to perform, his health.

Aaron Glenn in his first run at it. Rookie coach, tough schedule.

So that's kind of what that so but eight and a half means eight and a half for the Steelers I know that means that somebody out there in a town where Mo Green doesn't have a plaque or a signpost, which by the way, what an outrage disgrace. It's a disgrace. It's an outrage. Yeah, I'm with you.

But that's the other thing. Put this newer schedule up. We've gone through this, but it's very difficult. This means, though. This means, though, that there's some people who think Tomlin's going to have his first losing record as a head coach.

Yeah, you're getting plus money if you go over. Come on. I'll take that a bit. Plus one. Which is what?

Plus one of five. They're not finishing under 500. I agree with you. Mike Tomlin's allergic to finishing under 500. Might have a good schedule, though.

Might not win the Super Bowl, but they. They make the playoffs. Let's do our schedule.

Okay. Find me nine wins. They have a better ambition than that. Hold on, you want me to find you nine wins? Find nine wins.

I can see them going 3-0 to start. Wow.

So that's half, that's a third.

Okay, okay. Cleveland. Cleveland's another at home. That's four. Four.

Okay. Home for Indianapolis could be five. Five. The chargers. At the Chargers, it's a tall order.

I know that. I know. It'll be loud in there. It's going to be. All right, sure.

I'll give you that. How many? No, no, but that's feasible. You say, where are they? That's six.

Split with the Ravens. How about this one? How about this one? Out of the games that Rodgers. will not lose.

Right. Like, if you want to put it in the category as if he could wave a wand and just say, I'm going to do this my own self, right? At Chicago. You betcha. You back.

Why would that be bigger? Because he's the well, because he's the one that. Yeah. Famously put the belt on there, man, and said he owned the team. Yeah, but he will absolutely-excuse me.

That's number one of them all, please. Right. I'm d right, but The Packers are pretty darn good. We need to see what the Bears look like. That could be a tough order, but you know, he's going to go into that game all week long.

It's going to be this, that, the other thing about what he used to say there. He'll have his fun with it, but then he'll show up. and he will want to complete that circle. He's going through the NFC North for the last time here. And I understand his body might not be able to cash whatever his heart is trying to write as a check.

True. and his soul.

Okay. Home for Miami is absolutely a Monday night in the middle of December where it could be 20 degrees. That's one. You're not wrong. It's a very tough schedule.

One of the Cincinnati games they could get. They could get one of the Cincinnati games easily. The eight and a half to go. Don't forget the defense is pretty damn good, too. Yeah, well, they have one receiver, questionable running back, a shaky offensive line.

What was the Chris Brockman win total? Forget Vegas. You said 16, right? Between the Steelers and the Jets? I think that 8-9 is good for the Steelers, and I think the Jets may be at 7.

I would put it maybe like 15.5. Teaching? You take the over-under and 15.5 wins for the Steelers and the Jets. I'll take the over. Nine.

I would take the over. I'll take the over on that. I think the Jets win at least. It's seven and ten for the Jets. Is that what you're feeling there?

I think the Jets win seven. And I don't I don't want to put a win total on it other than the fact that they're better than Five and twelve, dude. I don't know that. Barring injury.

Okay. I don't know that. They have enough talented guys out there.

Well, they added the talent the last two years also. Understood. Things were just not. Yeah, it's a new world there. I like the vibes.

You should like the vibes. And on top of it, you're putting your new world. They pay guys that a perfect example. of this being a new world. Is Justin Fields didn't suffer a season-ending injury and could just cover it up with plastic, right?

Like a tarp. You know, that's new. That's newfangled right there. Oh, the Jets caught a break from the football injury gods. Oh.

Huh. We call that a wrinkle. That's an O. Henry-like twist to the end of a football story. Please.

I talk to my Jet friends. Please. All right, you know what, we're going to take a break. Here's what we're going to do. We're going to come up with, let's do five more of these from week one.

Week one matchups.

Now, are you going to put together what Vegas says? What Brockman says. We can do Vegas, and we'll use that as the launch point, and then I'll come up with a number. And you guys will go over under. TJ?

I'm with it. Let's do it. And you at 844-204-Rich Number to Dial. You want to chime in on any of this stuff? Please feel free.

The hour is ours. It's like Andy Reid, the time's yours. Back here on the program, everybody, 844-204-Rich. Number to dial. John Sally's going to join us in hour number three.

You got any good Spider Sally questions all teed up? Not teed up, but I'm sure they'll come the second I see them. Jordan stories, right? We need Jordan stories. All stories.

Rodman stories. Rodman stories. Chuck Daly stories. What else do we need? Phil Jackson stories.

I mean, he's won championships with all the, except for the Celtics. Who is he? He's won championships with all the real, like, you know. Who are you in college with? He went to Georgia Tech, so that would have been Mark Price.

He predated Starberry officials. Like a Randolph Childress situation.

Well, he went to Wait. He went with Mark Price? I'm thinking maybe. Let me double check. See what the Georgia tech.

Right. Bobby Crimmons had that coach that sort of Steve Martin hair color, right? Yeah. For somebody younger than that hair color, right? Right.

Remember that? Right, right. That bowl cut he had. Gray a little early. See who is on this team.

Who is on his card? Yeah, Mark Price. Mark Price. Bunch of guys are playing the league. How far do you go in the tournament?

Not to use our Roku channel TV only conversation as a A show prep, but why not? I mean, why not? You know, this is how the sausage gets made. They don't always know. This is how the sausage gets made.

He went, let's see, lost in the Sweet 16 in 86 to LSU. That wasn't sh that was predate shock, but was it uh was it uh Was that uh the the art the artist Later known as Mach Moon on the growth. He was not. He was 80. I'm going to say he was 87.

It was not. It was against Dale Brown's LSU Tigers, that's for sure.

So in 84, 85, they made it to the Elite Eight, lost to Georgetown. Right. So Tom Hammonds, Dwayne Pharrell played on Bruce Dalrymple. Bruce Dalrymple. I haven't heard that name in forever.

How was the Georgetown team that lost to Villanova? Prig Newell. Oh, man. Good stuff coming in hour three. Let's go to.

Is it Ian in Rockford, Illinois, or is it Ian like Eagle? Yep, that's correct.

Well, I gave you, I said two and then you said that's correct. Which one is it? Probably the first one.

Sorry, it's Ian. Ah! With like sounds like an E.

Okay, Ian in Rockford, Illinois. Is it Illinois or Illinois?

Sorry.

Okay. What's up to my man Scott Ian? What's on your mind, Ian in Rockford, Illinois?

Well, even though I'm calling from Illinois, I am a Faithful Packers fan. I want to do the old Packers windmill. Here we go. Yeah. Packers fan in Illinois.

That's like a Michigan fan in Ohio or an Ohio fan in. The state up north. All right, here we go. Yep, that's right. All right, Sword Madison.

Okay. School in Oshkosh.

Okay. Okay, and then you went to Rockford, Illinois. Here we go. Ian, what happens when the Packers start against the Lions in Lambeau Field week one? What happens?

Well, you know what? They're tired of losing at home to those guys. That's a win. All right, 1-0. Home against the...

Team that knocked him out of the playoffs, right? No, no, pardon me, that was the Eagles. The Washington Commanders on a Thursday night. I think that's another win for us. That's 2-0 in five days.

All right, at the Browns, what happens then? That's a win. Come on. 3-0. Oh, this is going to be fun.

At the Dallas Cowboys. Ian in Rockford, Illinois. Wait.

Sorry, TJ, but the owners are back. That's another win. The owners are back. That says Ian in Rockville, Illinois, but at least he apologized to you first before thoroughly disrespecting you. I don't like his choice of words, but the thing is they got us at least.

4-0 into the buy, we're coming out home for the Bengals and Joe Burrow. You know, uh Mike Joe? I think this is another win. 5-0 at the Cardinals. I'm still going to go with another win here.

Yeah, I bet you didn't think you would start playing the win-loss game for the Packers and have them start 6-0, but that's how you wind up playing the win-loss game, 6-0 at the Steelers. What happens when you take on Rodgers? You know? I think he's going to be disappointed. I think Jordan Love.

Takes it home. That's their win. Could you imagine if the Packers are the last remaining undefeated team going into that game?

Now we're talking. But they come out at 7-0 in Ian's World, home for the Panthers. That's a win. Oh, yeah. 8-0.

Against the team that did bounce you. Eagles on a Monday night in Lambeau. How huge is that going to be on the... ESPN family of networks. It's going to be a big game.

I think that we're too confident in this one. I think this is a loss. All right, 8-1 at the Giants. That's a win. Nine and one home for the Vikings.

We'll win that one. 10-1 at the Lions to kick off the John Madden Thanksgiving celebration. I think we sweep the lines this year. That's a win. That's 11 and 1 home for the Bears.

Bad to win. 12 and 1 at the Broncos. That's a win. 13 and one at. the Bears on a Saturday.

That's a win. 13-1, home for the Ravens on a Saturday. This is the return of Jair Alexander. Unfortunately, I think this one's lost. 13 and 2 at the pardon me, that's wait a minute, I'm gonna get this right.

8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 2. At the Vikings. I think we'll split minutes so that's a lot.

Okay, so you finished 14 and 3 on a two-game losing streak. Ian in Rockford, Illinois. Thanks for the call, brother. There he goes. Over thirteen and a half wins is nine to one.

For the package. Shoo.

So we just had a win-loss game for the Packers be 14-3. In the previous segment, previously on the Rich Island show, meaning. About ten minutes ago. Chris Brock, when you asked... Jets?

Steelers, a week one contest. Uh Over under win total combined between the two, 15 and a half. 15 and a half. You went under, right? I think under, you know, and TJ and I, we both said over.

Okay. Barely over, but yeah. You have five more.

Okay. contests from week one and have compiled A win-loss total for us to go over, under on one from a certain town where Mo Green does not have a plaque or a signpost or anything to remember. Correct. The man who founded the town. Without him, are we sure?

Without him, without him, Fredo would never have shown up and people wouldn't have had a problem getting a drink at the table. Exactly. True, right? We can't tell you why. People had a problem.

Getting a drink at the table because Fredo is in Vegas. Fredo had business. Gotta look that up. Look that up. But if Mo Green really founded Vegas, keep him out of the room.

Michael Sein would be there. Keep him out of the room and Michael gets the best. Long story. Short. You have five more of these from week one.

Do you want to music? Yes. Music service. Which week one do you want to have? Let's start with Green Bay in Detroit.

Green, and we just had a win-loss game from a Packers fan in Illinois say the Packers are going to win 14 games.

So the Packers lines play each other on CBS. I think Nance told us he's going to be there for that one. It's going to be J.J. Watt and Iron Eagle Steelers and Jets.

So uh Nansen Romo Lions, Packers, what do you have as a win total over there? Vegas has 10 and a half for the Lions. Nine and a half for the pack. It's a total of 20 wins? Combined wins.

Where's the Brockman total you're going to be? I'm going to up that a little bit. I'm going to say 21 and a half. Oh, that's a tall order. That means someone's gonna win 10 games, someone who wins 11 games, that's still not enough.

So what are they? And they're gonna knock each other off. I'll go under. I'll go under. Wines 15 wins last year.

I understand that. They combined for what, like 25 last year. I know what they combined for last year. And then the Vikings still won 14. Uh all right.

They play the AFC North 2, man.

So I'll take the under. On that front, we might see more 10-win teams this year than ever before. Just spread it out. And the battle for the seventh and final playoff spot is going to be sick. Weird times.

Somebody really good is going to go home. They combine for 26 wins on this. This is at least I've given you my mindset for the rest of this endeavor. I like that.

Okay. So I will go under. TJ? Chris, what was that number again? I'm going to put it at 21 and a half.

21 and a half. Means in order to go over, that's 211-win teams. If you want to split it down right down the middle, and we're talking Green Bay and Detroit. Green Band, Detroit. I'm going to take the over.

All right. I think they're I think if even if Detroit comes down a little bit, wins 12, I still think Green Bay is in that 10-11 win range. Maybe Chicago is 8-9, 9-8. Minnesota isn't going to win 14 games this year, most likely.

So I still think that evens out. Where Detroit and Green Bay go over.

Okay. I'm the outlier there and I don't feel good about it. I feel like right now, like... Half the time after I draft my fantasy team. I don't like my answers, but I already do it.

But I just said what I said, though. It was my first blush, and I think there's going to be a lot more parody, but we'll see what happens. Christopher, certainly in the NFC. What else you got? Uh, next up.

Who's next? Um, I've got it right here. We wrote this down before. We did. Um.

AFC contest. This'll be fun. Pete Carroll's Las Vegas Raiders open up week one at your New England Patriots. Yeah, I love this one because two teams with a lot of question marks. You don't know what these teams are going to be.

They both could overachieve, or they both could be maybe right around where they've been the last couple of seasons. Vegas has the win total for Vegas at 7.5 wins, 7.5 for the New England Patriots. The exact same. Seven and a half wins.

So, wait a minute, so I understand. Las Vegas has the Patriots at 7.5 wins and the Jets at 5.5. Yeah, okay. Can this make sense? Help me out here, make sense.

So you're saying that the total win total between both is 15? Is that the Brockman total, or what do we have? No, no, no, Brockman total is definitely higher. I'm going to put this at 17 and a half. Oh, I'll take the under for Raiders and Patriots.

I'll take the under. Oh. 17 and a half. Do you really think the Jets are better than the Patriots? I do.

You don't? Definitely not. I d I don't know what the Jets did to get a lot better this offseason. They didn't have to do much to get better this offseason. Chris.

Yeah, sure. Why not? you know Watching Stephon Diggs chase a puppy around the lawn. Did you see that video of him? I did.

It was great. By the way, he looked like Rocky chasing the rooster. I've also been watching practice video where he looks amazing. Kudos to the Patriots on getting every one of, I believe, the 41. dogs at their dog rescue at their adopted Yes, they got them all adopted at their training camp.

Well done, Patriots. That's already a win. Yep. Um I'll take the under. What do you take, TJ?

My number is 16.

So I forget what you said the number. 17 and a half. I'm picking 17. I'm going to say 16 on that one.

Something's going on. Yeah, that's two, eight, nine, ten teams. That would be very nine and seven.

Okay, nine and seven. That's 18 together if you have them both going nine and seven. Like nine wins and seven wins. That'd be very good. Like, I feel like the Jets, I feel like Raiders get nine wins, the Pats get seven on the season.

Interesting. Who are you taking? I'm going to write all this down. I'm going over. The Pats are going to win 10 games.

10. You guys are crazy. I just don't understand why you're not seeing this. Because I don't pay enough attention to the game. All you're doing is you put on your hope chest every damn night that Terry McLaurin is going to somehow, someway, wind up on your team.

Like, because you know you need weapons. Take your heart pills and buckle up. Come on, man. I think the wing is going to surprise a lot of people.

Well, and for your sake, and for the sake of. Susie's side of the family, the entirety of them, and Cooper. I was thinking Ashton Jutty is probably going to win Offensive Rookie of the Year. Geno Smith can be a top half of the week quarterback, and Pete Carroll's a Hall of Fame coach. Right.

I'm with you. Brock Bowers is already one of the top three tight ends. You said about the Raiders, there's another team in this equation. I'm shocked that you think the Jets are going to be better than New England this year. Why would he not be done?

Because he's seen his team play for 50 years. Roster versus roster. Roster versus roster. Roster versus roster right now, and we'll see what happens when Tommy's ball. Coaching staff.

I understand. Quarterback. I got it.

Okay. That's so disrespectful. Defensive.

Okay. Okay. Dustin Fields has three times as many starts in the NFL as your guy does. And he's three times not as good. He's also in his third round.

Next up on the list here, next up on the list. Let's go back to the end. It's not a rivalry. We always beat them. That's true.

Next up on the list here.

Next up on the list here.

Next up on the list. Seattle at San Francisco. Oh, this is fun. This is fun. Two teams, unknown.

One team expected to be a lot better because of health-wise. San Francisco's win total, really high, guys. 10 and a half. That's a tall for San Francisco.

Okay. Seattle. Seven and a half.

So that's 18 in Las Vegas. That's 18. That's the Brockman total. Because you haven't, you've gone up. You've tossed up.

I've tossed up. I actually think. I actually think 18 is a really good number for this total. I'm sticking at 18 for this. I will take the over.

I'll take the over on that. Which team pushes this way over? I think the Niners do. Yeah. Yeah, I think San Francisco is looking at 11 and 6, 12 and 5.

Right, and then I think Seattle will put it over. The question is: how far over? DJ? I'm picking 22 wins.

Okay, so 22 wins for both of these. What is the breakdown? I feel So, you're a Sam Darnold believer, then.

Well, I feel like the Niners, because we are so down on them, I just have a feeling that they're going to be a lot better than what we think they are. 10.5 win total is really high for a team that was picking.

So I think I got them winning 12 and I got the Seattle winning 10.

So Seattle playoff team then? That's tough right now. I mean, 10 wins. 10 wins is. I'm telling you.

How about this? I think. What's more likely? Multiple 10-wins. Or is this an overreaction?

Multiple 10-win teams, one in each conference, will not make the playoffs this year.

So Seattle was the only 10-win team last year that did not make it. There you go. Yeah. And I think someone in the AFC is going to have that same going home. Yeah, last year Cincinnati was 9-8 and missed out.

Uh next up on the list here. We're getting more high rent. The first Sunday night football game of the season. The first game in the final year of Highmark Stadium. The Buffalo Bills Taking on the team they bounced in last year's playoffs, the Baltimore Ravens.

Christopher, what is the combined win total? Yeah, this is really fun. Two teams, obviously, with Super Bowl aspirations. They both have the same Vegas win total. 11 and a half each, so that's 23 total.

I'm bumping this up. I think these two teams are awesome. I'm going to bump it up a whole win. I'm going to say 20. 24 and a half.

So that somebody's gonna geez 24 and a half. 24 and a half.

That's just last year. Last year they went over. Last year they were 13-4 and 12-5. I'll take the over. TJ?

Okay. We all go over. We're all going over. Last one. The first game of the season.

Dallas and Philadelphia. Give it to me. Yes, yes, yes. Give it to me. You know what's crazy?

The Cowboy win total: 7.5 in Vegas. Same as the Patriots, same as the Raiders. Oh. That's just a little bit. That is disrespectful.

I mean, Scream and A in charge of that? Is he the one who said these numbers? And the Eagles is 10.5, which I also feel is super disrespectful. You're going to pay some juice to hit the over there, but super disrespectful. That's an 18.

I'm going to say 20.5 for Philly and Dallas. Oh, well, I mean, Philly's going to have 12 wins. And Dallas will have eight. That's even low. What?

And that's 20. That would be under. I know that. So I'll take the over where Philly gets 13 and Dallas gets. Eight.

I'm going way over. I think Dallas is a 10-win team. They're going to have a really high explosive offense. I really think George Pickens adds a big element there. The running game will come around.

And Philly is obviously. The number is 24. I already said, I already predicted Dallas would win 11, right?

So I put Philly at like 13. Wow.

Okay. 24.

Somebody's going to have to lose this season, by the way, guys. Yeah, I was just going to say.

Well, there are going to be some bad teams. Any of you say under any of these? You said under for Pittsburgh and the Jets because you're just leaving. I think I'm low on those guys. But I think there will be some best.

Did I under on Raiders' pets or did I go over? No, you went under on Raiders' pets. There you go. Because you don't believe in the Patriots. But this guy does.

Look out. I do. Look out. My God. No disrespect to you.

My God. He's like, he's duckboat parading. All right, let's take a break. This is exciting for us. We have not.

I don't like math, guys. Jeff Garland's going to join us next. I reached out to him the passing of Ryan Sandberg. I said, I want to reach out to a Diehard Cubs fan. uh who's a favorite of this show, to give uh voice.

Because again, I don't. you know Being a New Yorker, I didn't watch Ryan Sandberg every day and didn't lionize him like Every single human being on the north of the side of Chicago and most of the all of Chicago. And I think even White Sox, he's one of those types of guys that you couldn't even hate Ryan Standberg if you're on the south side, right? Definitely not. Uh, into our studio space in short order. Radio audience will rejoin in just a couple minutes, but let's bring him on right now. One of our dear friends of this program, Die Hard Cubs fan, Jeff Garland, back on the show. Good to see you, Jeffrey. How are you, sir?

Great to see you, Rich. I am not great, but I'm great. Yeah, I know. You know, because what am I going to do? Yeah, it's really hard.

Yeah, I know. I thought of you when I heard about the passing of Ryan Sandberg, and I'm like, you know what? Let's see if Jeff's in town and if he's up for talking about One of the great cubs ever.

So go for it. I can give something from the beginning. To the end. Uh the beginning is Now I watched every game. Thankfully.

WGN Was one of those superstations. The only two teams you could watch were the Cubs and the Braves. That's right. And the Cubs. And so I remember when Ryan was a rookie playing third base, and I think he went something like 0 for 30.

Uh, his first uh no joking around zero for 30, no, no hits, and they stuck with him, they stuck with him, and then from that moment on, whenever that Zero for 30. He just Took off. Prior to Ryan Sandberg. The Cobs. were worthless.

Uh, they were not good after the Ernie Banks, Billy Williams, uh, um, you know, Ronsanto era. The Cubs weren't relevant until Ryan Sandberg. He made them relevant again. He made them, you wanted to watch, you wanted to watch this guy play. And, you know, he excited me when he batted.

And in the field, he was remarkable, remarkable. Everything that went his way, a vacuum. And so watching him play. was one of the He's the my first Baseball player. My dad loved Ernie Banks.

I did too, all that stuff. But he's the first guy. of mine. Mm. Yeah.

He passed away in 10 years. I know, right? It's hard. It's so hard. Over time, the Cubs used to have a party, two suites at the Dodgers game, and they'd invite all the LA Cub people.

Right. And all the Cub players were there. Rhino was always there. That's how we got to know each other. I'd sit with him alone and watch the game.

And of course, everything I'm about to tell you. In my mind, I'm going to go. I know, right? That's your guy. That's your guy.

That's your guy. And so, but I remember a funny moment from one of those things and this is sort of like i really got to know him Uh and I'm standing with my friend Brad Morris. We're talking and Ryan Orino and his wife came over. And the conversation sometimes somehow alluded to whether we knew anybody on the north side of Chicago who could teach Ryan how to ice skate. I swear to God, and so my friend, my friend Brad, and I to this day make little ice skating jokes because that was as far left field talk about it, you know.

Wow, and uh, yeah, and uh, I still, I, you know, but I spent A good deal amount of time with him. With Rodney Sandberg. By the way, our radio audience. Our radio audience just rejoined us here. Jeff Garland is on.

He joined us during the Roku only segment. I'll give you the floor again. You were tearing up. Because about the passing of Ryan Sandberg at age 65, because he's only a few years older than me, which is also when I think about it.

Well, again, I say all the time that following sports and being a sports fan. Sports sometimes stands for the passage of time. You know what I mean? Yes, the passage of time. And for Ron Samberg to pass away at age 65, I just, like I said, I wanted to give you the.

And by the way, the entire time I watched Harry Kerry. Broadcast Ryan Samberg, who was playing with Greg Maddox and Andre Dawson. It was so remarkable. And if I only could have taught the man how to ice skate. That's right.

Exactly. What was he so good at, for those who need to know? Jeff Samberg. Are you ready? I am.

Everything. Everything. There was no ego. He'd lay down a bunt, even in any situation. He'd run hard.

He'd play hard. He cared. You could see in the way he played, he cared so much. That's the thing. I mean, everything.

He was the complete. Joe Poznanski called him about his, I don't know what to quote Joe Poznanski said. He said something very nice about Rhino being the perfect baseball player. And we have a Keep going. Go ahead.

No, I was going to say that all the times that I spent with him, and it's a lot. He had the best sense of humor. Best sense of humor. He was right with me, joking, joking. And he laughed, laughed, laughed.

And the idea, I swear I would think to myself, Ryan Sandberg thinks I'm funny. Ryan Sandberg, like there was no time that I wasn't in awe. I remember walking into this event at Harry Carey's restaurant and I'm behind Ryan. I'm talking to somebody. And then Ryan turns around and goes, I know that voice anywhere.

And I'm thinking Ryan Sandberg knows my voice anyway. There's never a moment where I'm not like, I can't believe I'm here. And I'll tell you. This one's hard. Last season Uh I celebrated.

In a private area at Wrigley. I don't know how I ended up there. Jim Obojovich, who works for the Cubs, we were walking around. I was singing that day. Take me out to the ball game.

And I celebrated his 60, his last birthday.

So his 66th, 65th birthday. Myself. Billy Williams, Jim, Ryan's wife, and maybe one or two other people. And I did think the whole time. Rod Samberg on his birthday, and he was so happy, so happy.

You know, the tape, the candles, the whole thing. And I thought, what a private moment that I was privileged to experience. And I'm, and also, I would go, I'm in the same room with Billy Williams and Rhodes. That's right. But you never lose, you never lose the little boy part of it.

Or I was a young man. That's why he was, he was mine. Yeah, I was in my. I was young. Yeah, we got a picture that you sent us.

It looks like it's you, Vince Vaughan, Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine, and then you are, there you are, leaning on Sandberg's. Yes. Yes, left shoulder on the bottom. That's Joe on the end there. He works for the Cubs.

I don't want him to be the mystery guy. Sure.

Okay. Yeah, but you can see the way my arm is on Rhino that. we're friends you know what i mean you don't do that when you just first take a i'm resting on his shoulder we didn't make out but i was very comfortable i was very comfortable with him i'm imitating my arm uh but yeah he meant the world to me and i knew yesterday that he was very very ill and then uh um jim a boykvich who i was talking to yesterday because i'm going in a week or so uh to the cubs game with uh owen kirk and cuzak two guys that I've known since they were 12. Yeah, we're going next week. And I know it had to have hit them that I haven't talked to either one of them, but.

I was talking to Jim about arranging the tickets, and I said, How's Ryan Sandberg? Knowing he was ill. He says, It's not looking good, not looking good. And he told me that his family. His kids, his grandkids all came in.

And I thought, wow, he is really I said, is he in hospice? He says, no, he's home.

Now I know for sure at that moment, Jim knew that Ryan had died. Uh, but he couldn't say to me because it wasn't released yet and and And I said to him, Can I have an email? Can I send you something, a note to send to Ron? And I wanted to tell him. I'm not sure.

I'll never say I'm sorry for crying, but I'd like to have a sense of stoicism and composure. I'm on the air with Rich Heiden. Oh, I know. You have every right to do it. And I'd feel the same way about.

You know, a guy who meant so much to me, and obviously growing up as a Cubs fan. And it's exactly, you know, Jeff, the reason why. I wanted to have on today. For you to get voice to this and Yeah, these are, these are, it's the passage of time, but also these are family members. Jeff, good on here.

That's the end of hour number two here on the Rich Eisen Show. We're still here on Roku. In the two minutes I have left, Jeff. What do you think Ryan Sandberg meant to all Cubs fans because of When he showed up and how he conducted himself and a Hall of Fame career, that thankfully his life lasted long enough for him to have seen a Cubs World Series as well. Do you want my opinion?

My opinion is this: Yes, sir. Exactly like me. They feel exactly like me.

Some worse, some a little better, but that's pretty much. the window of where Cub fans are.

Now, you said something that even White Sox fans like, right? That's not true. They hated Run Sands. Is that right? White Sox fans hate Cubs, the Cubs, the Cub fans in such a way, you can feel it when you're near a White Sox fan or I go to a Sox game.

You can feel it. People know I'm a Cubs fan. I get it. But you have to know Cubs fans don't even pay attention. The White Sox.

I don't even care about the White Sox. And they, oh my God, hate, hate.

So I don't think any Sox fan is doing a dance today unless they're a Southside alcoholic. Right. But I think that, yeah, everyone who loves baseball is in mourning. Yeah, let's put it this way. I'm sure White Sox fans as a whole.

Today, appreciate what Ryan stood for. And, you know, even from the most mean-spirited White Sox fan to the Pope on the other side, right? Yes. Are saying a prayer today? Of course.

Can you imagine the Pope saying, screw? Sandbird. I don't even. I don't even care. By the way, just a little one more thing.

Sure.

I watched the Sandberg game on NBC. The one where he hit with the homer, the game tying homer in x-rays, and then another game type in the x-rays. Yes. And by the way, hitting two homers off Souter, who was great then. I have to say that it so profoundly affects me today, profoundly.

And we'll always, oh, and this right here, okay? I Book Shiampi had a thing for ALS. And I realized because I was friendly with Ryan and I was embarrassed to ever ask him, can you sign a ball? And this is what I've been on and got. I got it.

It came a couple of weeks ago. At Ryan Sandberg Hall of Fame. He says all of fame there. Gotcho effort. First of all, and I will obviously cherish this.

Love you, Jeff Garland. Thanks for the time. I love you too, Rich. And I love being a friend of the show. You are.

I'm a friend. Yes. We'll back up with John Sally in studio hour three. Just lovely. Jim Rome takes on sports.

Why? Because you're not playing me. With rapid fire takes. And a lot to get to, and I'm not sure you're going to like all of it. Honestly, I don't even care if you like all of it or not.

I have a job to do. Scorching debates. On any given week, you have lots to beef about. Take advantage of it. Get up in here.

He's the Spitfire of Sports Smack. Which is not my fault. We will get to all of that. The Jim Rome Show podcast. Get up in here.
