Stupid Rule this, this, this. Is the Rich Eisen show. It's a touchback. He fumbled into the end zone and out. The number of people that texted me.

There's your rule. He lost it because he dove for the pylon. I don't care. I don't care. Earlier on the show, Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones.

Philadelphia 76ers head coach Doc Rivers. Coming up from the Netflix film Outside the Wire. Actor Anthony Mackey. And now. It's ring.

Jason. Hour number three of this Tuesday edition of The Rich Eisen Show is on the air. Uh, what? We've had an action-packed two hours. No question about it.

We had a wild second hour, to say the least. It was partially on you because I volunteered the fact because it's for the 49th anniversary of Sandy Kolfax's enshrinement into the beautiful baseball museum in Cooperstown, New York. When's the last time you went to Cooperstown? It was the year I forget which one I covered, but I used to cover the Baseball Hall of Fame. Ceremony four ESPN one year.

Man, one year they put me up in a bed and breakfast in Cooperstown, New York. It's gotta be. And I woke up to the smell of like. Uh um Bacon every morning. Bacon, biscuits.

They were cooking breakfast, and it was. like some sort of like honey bacon and it was just And then you stroll out in Cooperstown, New York. I cannot. Um Oh, if you've never been. I could not, I cannot, I cannot sing the praises enough.

It really it's like walking out into a Norman Rockwell painting. That's great. And the color of the the the environs when the the sun sets. That Otisaga Hotel as well, the it's just it's amazing. There's nothing like it.

And then they hold it in a meadow. They hold the ceremony in a meadow, in an actual meadow. It's really unbelievable. Like you turn around to see if. you know, somebody's gonna walk out of the There's no corn there, but just you're just wondering if there's somebody's gonna walk out.

They're just gonna appear in the outfield. Nothing like it.

So it's been over 20 years. Yeah, I think for me, I think it's the same. I think I went in 2000. It's nothing like it. It's been a long time.

And then I showed up to my first football hall of fame. And it's just like right by an interstate, right by I-77, you know, and they got these rock men as the logos, you know, you know, like the thing from the Fantastic Four, you know, it's like out there right by like it. And we're just going to hit you in the face with our enshriman ceremony. And this is just what football is all about: the cradle of football in Canton, Ohio, blue collar, here we roll. And that looks a lot different.

They've got all the construction there. Yeah, but it was just a small little building, you know, with the juicer on top. It looks like you could take a grapefruit and get a nice, nice glass of juice out of it. Oh yeah. It's way different.

Oh, it's different now, but it's way different now. But it still does have the character of the sport, like all over the place coming out of its pores. Of course. And again, right now they're talking about the 2021 class. Normally, this vote goes down.

It's the same day vote, day before the Super Bowl. They announce it. Big Dahooha. And somebody's going to have to sit on some information for two plus weeks. Not happening.

That's what we talked about at the end of hour one. People are going to have to sit on the information as to which finalists make the first cutdown and which finalists who made the first cutdown make the second. The voters in the room will not know who's in and who's not. You don't want to be that guy, though, that says it.

Well that you The men and women in that room are going to be told, or the Zoom room to be told, they got to sit on the information as to who's making the cut. The first cut and the second cut down to the final group that they vote up and down on. The folks in the room will not know who's up and down. But they'll know the final. They'll know the finalists on whom got voted up and down.

Crazy. If that doesn't come out, if nothing comes out, if no information comes out between this moment. This day And the day before the Super Bowl and the announcement's made, then honestly, these people. Whoa. These selectors will be one of the greatest secret keepers of all time.

That's it. I'm going to meet Clarence Beaks in a garage and I'm going to get the Yukon porch. That a boy, Michael. That's great. These guys are spotting dimes and everything.

Clarence speaks.

Well anyway. Um Cooperstown, New York is is a great spot. And the reason why we got on it is because it's Sandy Koufax's anniversary of getting in. And then you asked who are the best Jewish athletes of all time. We got a little bit off the rails.

I then dropped information that my mom actually was set up on a date with Sandy Koufax back in the day in Brooklyn. You're like, get your mom on the phone, give me details. And I'm like, what's the matter with you people? It's the questions, people. What is the matter with you people?

You people. And then, and then, and then, um, Chris Brockman's news update, whatever that might have been. Got completely reconfigured in the last half hour when Kyrie Irving spoke for the first time since. Yeah. What I and Eagle referred to uh early last week as the as the um Kyrie Irving situation.

And then Deshaun Watson tweeted out a photograph with you with a quote from a future song. Uh I've been trying Now, every time I read. You sound like Alex Trebek reading the rap lyrics on Jeopardy. I only know on Steve. That's a great way to put it.

I've been trying to have some patience. I told my mama she should pray on it. Yeah. I mean, that sounds like Costas doing his pooty tang, right? Dead on it.

Brock was perfect. It's good. Yeah, when Trebek would do the report, things are rapper. We have no idea what it means. None.

I'll take 100. All right, let's get to Chris Brockman's news update because Anthony Mackey.

Well you want to talk about A famous actor. Oh gosh. Big time actor. Yeah. Uh Sam Wilson, Falcon.

The man who plays Falcon and Sam from the Great Marvel series and of course great movies, Eight Mile and The Hurt Locker. He's in a new Netflix film, Outside the Wire. He's a Die Hard Saints fan. Uh interestingly enough. Falcon.

Right. From the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But now from outside the wire, great science fiction. film that's on uh Netflix right now. He'll be joining us uh in about fourteen minutes' time.

Chris Brockman, you ready for your news update over there? Let's go. Go for it. Yeah. And now, with a report of the day's news from the world of sports and entertainment, someone who is not a journalist or newsman by any definition of the word whatsoever, it's Chris Brockman.

What do you have over there? All right, just a few NFL notes before we hear from Kyrie Irving. Please, what do you have? And Steve Nash.

So, Falcons new head coach Arthur Smith talked to the media today, said that he is going to call the plays. Quote, it's been done and it's been done at a high level.

So, Arthur Smith is going to cause all of that. Hey, man, you know, if you're going to hire Kyle Shanahan or Matt LaFleur and Sean McVay and all that. I just you know you just have to hope That Somebody has the ability to do all that. and also be the CEO when the defense is on the field. And also be locked in on down and distance challenges.

Timeouts, clock management. I mean, that is the lot to do just when you aren't calling plays. And some can do it and some can't. I mean, Rex would be all over the defense. And I remember one time there was a big play with Geno Smith on the field, and he was MIA because he's on the bench talking to the defense, and he fully admitted.

I wasn't watching. That actually happened.

So I I always as a Jet fan I I have that sort of Emotional scar when I hear that sort of thing, but if he can do it. Good? Because that's why they're hiring him, is to bring that offensive mindset that he has done. in Tennessee. Do That For Matt Ryan, was that brought up to him?

Best you can tell in this conference? Not that I just saw the play calling thing.

Okay. I'm sure he was asked about it. I haven't seen the quotes.

Okay. But Jets baited official Robert Style officially signed today.

So congrats to you guys. Congratulations. Did you see this from our buddy Steve Weiss at NFL Network talking about the Rams? Said the situation with Sean McVay and Jared Goff, quote, needs marriage counseling. Yeah, I saw that.

Another person described the relationship as, quote, not great. McVay seems fed up with Goff's ups and downs. Did not. officially commit to him in twenty twenty one, said he has to evaluate everyone, and it's something they're keeping an eye on and evaluating the soft season.

Well, I'll tell you what, man, though, that is a that's a large chunk of change for Goff, too. He got that just after Wentz.

So I think if you're seeing that guide the way in Philadelphia, that might guide the way here in Los Angeles. They do like what they saw in John Wolford. You do hear that quite a bit here in Los Angeles, California. Yeah. I mean, he has a $65 million dead cap in 2021.

I mean, Goff's going to be there. The money's even more so than Wentz. Who would you want moving forward? What do you mean? Wentz or Goff?

Oh, I I would take golf. Overwhelmed. I would. Dude, what if Wentz with Goff? Here's the thing: let's say McDaniels is the Eagles coach.

Wentz with McDaniels, Goff and McVay. Who's more fixable? Oh, please. McVay's already fixed golf once. He could do it again if it's necessary.

But if he's chafing at it, Look. McVay is going to be around here forever. Like literally. Yeah. Literally, he could be an institution here in Los Angeles, California, right?

So he has his own parking lot at the stadium or something. And here's the thing with golf. Mm-hmm. It's it's those it's those awful interception throws that he'll make that just that look Like Pop Warner, you know, like it's just like, where did that come from? But he throws a beautiful ball.

There's a nice break. When He can win Super Bowl. It's just like what they need him to do, and he hasn't done, and I don't know if they're built to do it. But what they need him to do in a game like this past week is when they're down by one score. Here we go.

Like, here we go. On his Arm, his shoulders, big ban against the Cardinals in the Super Bowl. Brady against. Fill in a blank. This is what.

They, you know. And it again, he didn't have Cooper Cup. But this is what they he's got pins in his thumb and all that, but Again, this is what we're seeing as the tip. There's got to be clearly an iceberg that Steve Weiss is referring to. Here we go, like Jared Goff.

Remember that time he threw for three hundred yards and beat Aaron Rodgers in Lambeau Field when we didn't have Aaron Donald for very much and didn't have Cup? You know? Yeah. Remember that? Like that drive right before the end of the first half, where he found someone in the scene and he finds this guy here and there.

Boom, touchdown. Like, that's, we needed like two, three more of those. In Green Bay. We only got one. That's what I'm saying.

And we also don't know. McVeigh might, you know, McVeigh remember. McVay could probably be sitting right there. And know off the top of his head. The 15 times in the last two games where so-and-so was open and should have been thrown to, and Goff didn't do it.

And so. That's imagine if you're coughing, you're hearing that in your ear all the time. It could be like, my God. I get it.

So let's all go to our separate corners, stare at the ocean, come back and try and do it again. Because $65 million cap hit is not sustainable. No, no, no. I mean, he's going to be the QB next.

Some injury notes. Did you see this about Michael Thomas? Likely to have surgeries on both the torn deltoid and other injured ligaments in his high ankle this offseason. Man, do you think that was lingering from week one? Adam Schefter said he knew Michael Thomas that it was Breeze's final year and didn't want to miss out on trying to win a Super Bowl with Breeze.

All that from week one. That no catches for Mike Thomas. Either Mike was guarded or not targeted, or he's just not. I mean, He scored the week before. Yeah, he looked pretty good the week before.

Antonio Brown's MRI came back pretty clean, not considered serious as he gets ready for this week. Antonio Brown and Lambeau field with Tom Brady against Aaron Rodgers. I'm trying to remain calm. I'm trying to, I'm trying to. I mean, the hype train is going to be pulling into the station.

The hype train's on the rails. The hype train. Chew, chew, chew. Should we come up with also a child, a kid show called The Hype Train? You know, where it's just a cartoon cartoon figures and each week we just hype up a couple of games and they're all talking to each other.

And then there's like somebody who's just hot taken talking about the kid with the backwards cap and whatever, hoping that he gets retweeted. On the hype train. By the way, that's the appetizer on Sunday. I know, that's the first game. You know that it's all predetermined.

I know, but I'm just saying. Like next year, the NFC championship game will have the night game on a final weekend, and the CBS will have the early game on a final weekend. And that also is how you flip-flop. Um Division Playoff weekend. I mean, Fox, as you know, had the Late window on Sunday, which means CBS will get the late window on the Division play the championship game weekend.

Just saying. Just getting on it. You guys went in the deep in the television. Window weeds. All right, some Brooklyn Net stuff.

Steve Nash talked about. Uh happy to have Kyrie back.

Well, it was great to have Kai back in the building and um No. back in with the group. We've missed him and uh Excited to get him back out there on the floor. You know, I mean, we were able to Like I keep saying, script and rehearse, but it's hard to build chemistry without playing, and we're not playing in practice.

So the chemistry is going to be formed on the floor during games, it's going to take some time. Um but uh we're excited about the possibilities and uh it was great to have them both on the floor and uh and have Kai back in the building. It still can't get over. Steve Nash, head coach. Yeah, and and his opportunity comes in Brooklyn, New York, and it's Durant.

Kyrie and Harden altogether for him. Yeah. Yeah. You got Kyrie for me. Yeah, Kyrie Irving asked about what the last week has been like and whether or not he violated NBA health protocols.

Can you shed some light on what the last couple of weeks have been like for you and the time you need it all?

Okay. Um there's a lot of family and personal stuff going on.

So Just want to leave it at that. Hi, Kyrie. I'm wondering if you were aware that you had violated the health and safety protocols and what that process was like for you in coming back and going through that investigation, one. And then, secondly, what your communication was like with the team while you were away. Happy to be back.

Happy to be around these guys. Address the team. Everybody, they need to be addressed.

Now have to move on. Help and safety front. I'm sorry, Malika, go ahead. I just was circling back on the health and safety front. Happy to be back.

Okay, so he treated this very seriously and professionally. And honestly, I don't know him, man. I don't know him. And it's just so difficult for me to. Sit here and characterize somebody who I don't know.

I just don't know.

Okay? I I try to treat this seriously. But if my child had that body language on His or her zooms for school, I would I'd say sit up. I mean, his head was on his hands, leaned over and like What more of a body language indication Can he deliver to everybody whose job it is to ask him appropriate questions on behalf of a fan base who pays his salary? To answer questions as to why he was not there and what is going on.

Literally a year after he sang as a kid from New Jersey Watching Drazen Petrovich, he dreamt of playing for this team. And he's there. and now Durrant's there with him. And now hardens there with him. And we're wondering why he was not there.

And we have every right as a fan to know if this is going to work out or not, if I need my emotional investment. to be placed in his hands. along with my financial investment when the pandemic's over. And uh I got nothing. And the body language is like, I don't care what you think.

It doesn't care what I'm saying right now at all. Fine. But Uh I I don't care to see that. I learned nothing. I have no idea.

Did he say anything else that just wasn't part of this sound by it? That's the general gist of it. That was the gist of it.

So, honestly, he's leaned over. He's slumped down, his hands are on his, his face is on his hands. Literally, that's what my children do when they don't want to hear what's coming from mom and dad. And if you're a member of the management there, do you say something to Kyrie or just say, screw it? Just go out and play.

And I have no idea. He said, as he's pointed out, he said what he had to say to his teammates, and that's all he cares about. And he's not even answering about Yeah, I partied and I did this and I did that, and I know that many people out there are quarantining because they take it seriously, and clearly I didn't. I think I said my piece. I mean, TJ Jefferson, you know, the way you're sitting right now is the way he was.

And I would like right now, it's your indication. If this is the way you did the show, I'd be like, do you not want to be here? Seriously. Just stretching my back out. There you go.

All right. Thank you. Let's take a break. Anthony Mackey, outside the wire on Netflix. From the Marvel Cinematic Universe, all the way to Netflix right now by way of 8-Mile and now the Rich Isaac Show next.

Let me Let me write. An Ed Hockley retirement letter and read it out on the air. We then posted on the Rich Eisen Show feed exclusive the number of people that retweeted it and said they thought it was real. Is Alarming is the only way to put it, so God bless him. You know how much we love SVP.

Is Scott on the line, Ralph? Is Scott there? Yeah. You thought it was real.

Well, I mean, as you said, you are a guy that has a reputation. You work at the NFO Network. You got stories. And when it was brought up to me in our meeting, hey, you see the letter Hockey Lee wrote. And I thought, well, that's funny.

And then later, as I'm trying to write this script, I'm not finding it anywhere on Google searches or whatever, but I'm like, where'd y'all see that? And then the producer that's had it's like, oh, it's on Eisen's feed.

Sorry, I read your feet. And I'm like, there it is. I see the quotes at work. And I just splat, I just slam it in there on the script and read it on television. Fake news.

Fake news. Hashtag. Yes. Hashtag. Fake news.

I'm mortified. Apologies to Mr. Hocky. I'm sorry. We did not know.

That was not our intent. We didn't know it was going to happen like that. That's entirely on us for not for not vetting. And an alarm bell, it goes off to me that I'm not able to find this anywhere but there. But again, and this is where I'll turn it and point at you and Blake.

And you hymnichise him when you're a source of information and you got stuff no one else has got, you think, yeah, sure, cut the hot dilly retirement butter. And it's, I guess, believable that he's got his own stationery with himself on it, with his watermark of him as a rat. As believable as it is that he's gonna go sort out the lactic acid with a stretching regimen. Vigorous, Regiment! Vigorous Regiment!

Vigorous, I beg your pardon. You're the best, man. You're the best. I'm sorry. You're the worst.

Don't spook me like that. Remember, I sat here. It was great. It was like a free show. You banged it out real quick.

Fantastic. It was the letterhead, the picture in the bottom, that kind of thing. And then we read it on the air. And it was clearly, the way I read it on the air, a total gag. Clearly, a gag.

I completely blocked it down. I'm not sure what I'm telling me as an official for the National Football League for the last 28 years, but I started refereeing football at the high school level in 1973. And that's when I first discovered my love of combining my favorite sport with my other favorite endeavor, explaining things in three long sentences that can really be explained in one short one. I mean, how does that not indicate that it's a gag?

Now, if you excuse me, I have to head to the gym, make sure that my body remains the temple that it is, and of course, make sure the lactic acid buildup gets addressed by a vigorous regimen of stretching. In other words, I'm off to do curls.

So I later on in the another joke. I did the other. Because the fact that I could use three long sentences say something I could do in one. That's great. I mean Perfect.

Oh my gosh. 844-204-Rich is the number to dial here on NBC Sports on Peacock to have a conversation. We already had Aaron Jones of the Green Bay Packers on the program, back here on the show with our radio audience as one. And I am thrilled about our next guest. I am such a fan of his work.

You know, we've had Paul Rudd on this program so much talking about fantasy football. He's in a fantasy league with him. Along with the rest of the characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, loved him in 8-Mile, loved him in the Hurt Locker, and now he's on Netflix's Outside the Wire. He's a die-hard Saints fan from the great city of New Orleans. He is none other than Anthony Mackey.

How are you, Anthony? You there, Anthony? patching through. Hold on a second. You there, Anthony?

Hello. How are you, Anthony? Hey, what's up? Good to chat with you. How's everything?

Everything is good, man. Just loving my city, hanging out.

Okay, are you in New Orleans right now? Is that where you are? I am in New Orleans proper, yes, sir.

Okay, is this where you were on Sunday? Anthony. Sunday, I was in Atlanta because if we pulled off a miracle and won, I wanted to flaunt it in the South and Phillips. Which kind of brings me to my first question for you, Anthony. Is that how do you view it with a sense of irony or a sense of something else that you as a die-hard?

Um Saint fan is uh known in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Falcon. Mm. It's very annoying. That's why I've tried to have the character name changed several times. And I refer to him as Sam, not the Falcons.

Understood?

Okay. You know, it's just something that I have to do. Because I've got to tell you, I know this firsthand, having been around great Saints fans and also in the Super Bowl in Atlanta where the Rams made it because of the whole pass interference thing, is that Falcons fans who were all over town were very pleased that the Saints did not make it to that Super Bowl. That year, Anthony. And they were voting.

Because the last thing they wanted was their inaugural Super Bowl to be won by the Saints, because everybody knew the Saints was going to win that game. And if you look at the play that the referee didn't call, how do you not make that call? That is a correct assessment. We're still wondering how the hell that happened. There you go.

That would never happen to Brent Favre. That would never happen to Aaron Rodgers. That would never happen to Tom Brady. Only Drew Brady. Oh, my gosh.

Do you think this is it for Drew? Anthony, it sure looked like it to me. What do you think? I hope so. I hope so.

I think Drew gave it his all. I think Shrews. Sean. Proved. Sunday that he would rather lose with Drew Than win with Jameis Winston.

And that was mind-blowing to me. That game really. just pushed the entire city over the edge with the Drew Sean love affair. Because you have Deshaun Watson sitting out there. And he's five hours away.

And I will drive to his house Put him in my truck. Let him live in my house and make him breakfast. If he were to come to the site every day, just breakfast, Anthony? Just one meal a day? That's it?

That's all you'd make? I'm I'm not I'm not gonna be his personal chef. I just wanna make sure he wakes up. You'd have company, though. I think everybody's willing to drive, even if it's not just five hours away, to go get Deshaun Watson and bring him to their table.

Hell yeah. But think about Deshaun Watson with Alvin Kamara, Michael Thomas. And we get a great tight end out of the draft in Sean Payton's system. Think about that. Think about Deshaun Watson in Sean Payton's system.

That's Drew Brees, but a mobile Drew Brees who could actually run and move around with Alvin Kamara coming out in the flat, with Michael Thomas in the slot who can catch everything. Yeah, but you might have to ask the Pelicans to trade Zion to the Rockets to make it work because I don't know what the Saints could also give up to go get him. This might have to be a two-league trade, Anthony. First-round pick, everything. We give them all that.

Who are you going to get out of the draft that's going to play better than Deshaun Watson? Everybody's talking about these quarterbacks coming out of the draft, but nobody's proven. that that kid from Clemson never played against the NFL linebacker. You're referring to Trevor Lawrence. You're talking about Trevor Lawrence, is who you're referring to, Anthony.

Yeah, Trevor Lawrence never saw Six foot two, two hundred and twenty-five pounds of pure chocolate coming at him. Yeah. Yes, you're correct. He's probably never seen that sort of thing. Exactly.

And if you think about college ball, they're only. Two, maybe three great players on each team. When you're in a pros, every player is a great player.

So let's put outside of you not being able, or your team being able to pull this off, Taysom Hill or Jameis. What do you think about the next quarterback there? If you had a choice. You have to be James. Yeah, he didn't do that during the season, though.

I mean, it wouldn't. He went to Taysom Hill instead.

So you don't, you're not a Taysom guy or you're a James. I mean, walk me through your mindset here. Anthony through that. Taysom isn't a quarterback.

Okay. Taysom isn't a quarterback.

He's more of a gimmick. A gimmick of like role player. I feel like if you look at Jameis, Jameis has the wheels. That he could still move around. Seamus can he sh he showed uh Sunday with that 60-yard rope that he threw down the field.

That he has the arm and the ability to get the ball down the field. And he wasn't the problem in Tampa Bay. you had wide receivers you had an undisciplined team. You had wide receivers running routes they wanted to run. You had an offensive line that wouldn't block for them.

You I mean, you can't say that he was the problem in Tampa Bay. Anthony Mackey here on The Rich Eisen Show. Outside the wire on Netflix, I want to get to that in a second, but I do want to ask you a couple other part parts of your filmography and your history. Eight Mile, what's your favorite M ⁇ M story? from a favorite Marshall Mather story from that set.

There was this one day we're sitting on set. And um Eminem comes over and he's like, yo, what's up, man? I was like, hey, what up, Ev?

So he's like, cool, cool.

So, you know, I was reading the script and I was kind of thinking, like, there's no reason for me not to like you. Like, you're a cool dude. I like you. I was like, I like you too. He's like, cool.

So, you don't mind if I add some stuff in the script about you? I was like, well About me or about the character? He's like, no, no, no, just add some stuff in the script. Like, you know, just side character stuff. I'm like, yeah, no problem.

So He goes and his entire battle, the final rap, he Googles me and like learns about me and all this stuff. And he basically like makes fun of me as Papa Doc. And I'm like, well, that's a little too personal there, Mr. Marshall. And it's stuck in the movie?

It's stuck? Yeah, his whole final battle. I'm like. Yeah, well, yeah, I mean, yeah, I grew up in a nice house and Yeah, my parents they were nice to me. Why are you why are you poking fun of me?

So what happened when uh when s when s when uh cut got called? What happened? He just he literally walked over and was like, yo, that's gonna be dope. Yeah, that's that's that's gonna be great for you. I'm happy for you.

I'll just stand over here with the dick looking. Let that pass. And so your reaction on camera, was that your first initial reaction that was kept as well? Innate huh? Yeah, there was nothing.

I mean, what else?

So I go to Curtis and I'm like, yo, Curtis, what would be good is if he does his rap, then I do a rap and it's a tie, and then he does another rap and I don't say nothing. I was like, but I got to say something. He's like, no, no, I think it'll work better if people say you don't say anything. I was like, so I don't get to say nothing. I get no nothing.

I just stand there. He's like, yep. Oh boy.

Okay, here we go. That is amazing. Yeah, it was pretty. You're the first person I've told that story. I did not.

I will take that exclusive and run with it because that is amazing. That gives me a whole new person.

Now I want to go see it again. You know? Now I want to see it again. None of that stuff was in the movie because they were developing my character as the movie went on.

So. Curtis would come to me every day and be like, Well, what do you think about this?

So, because we had developed a friendship over the course of shooting because I loved his work so much. Right. And he was like, Well, what do you think about this for your character? What do you think about that? And I was like, Oh, okay.

So all those extra themes we put in there. I actually got to spend a lot of time with him and him, and we became cool. You know? And he was like, Well, there's no reason for me not like with boys. Like Onset, offset, why?

Why don't I like you? I'm not a good point.

So That's when he just Proceeded to murder me.

So, did you really go to Cranbrook? No, but I did go to private school. I went to North Carolina School of the Arts. Oh my gosh. That's a first.

Fantastic. I went to North Carolina School of the Arts for high school. Which is great. I mean, you should be commended for that. You know what I mean?

That's what I said. Not bullied by some young rapper. Anthony Mackey here on The Rich Eisen Show. What appealed to you about Outside the Wire, Anthony? Obviously, you've been in some big time films, big budget, big action.

You've been in something that could be considered science fiction as well. What did you like about Outside the Wire, Anthony? You know, from the first time I read it, growing up in this business, well, growing up as an actor, there are certain actors that I idolize, that I just always wanted to be like when I grew up. And Wesley Snipes was a big part. Of me growing up and wanting to be an actor.

So I always wanted to do like a Wesley Snipes movie.

So when I read this script, it really hit me: Terminator meets Training Day. And um When I put those two movies together, I was like, holy shit, those are two amazing movies. If I could do those together, I'm in that all day.

So we uh our biggest our biggest uh problem or h the hardest point with this movie was finding the other actor. And once I found Dampson, I knew he had something special. I knew his energy with mine. would be a perfect fit for the training day storyline.

So I just I love old school Hollywood popcorn action movies. I love Passenger 57, like I love Independence Day. I love those movies.

So for me, it was an opportunity to do one of those types of movies. And you're referring to Damson Idris, who's in the film, Michael Kelly, as well. By the way, he's a Falcon fan. I don't know if that was discussed on the set. I know you're not.

No, I know. I've known Michael Kelly for almost 25 years. And literally, we've gone at it many times about our alliance team. That's amazing. I mean, that is a great rivalry, no doubt about that.

The Falcon and Winter Soldier premiering in March on Disney Plus. My kids are fired up about this. What should I tell them about this show that's coming up? Anthony. It's a it's a really good show.

I was worried when we when I first heard it was streaming that the quality would be lost. That it would just turn into this idea of what these movies could be, and they wouldn't be able to do the action sequences. and give us the look that we've come accustomed to with Marvel movies. But the action sequences are mind blowing. The story is great.

You really get to know the characters and fall in love with the characters as you can see with WandaVision. And it just brings you further into the universe.

So it's um It's not going to disappoint. I'm very excited for people to see it. Yeah, I mean, my kids saw Endgame before I did and totally spoiled it. I'll be very honest with you. That actually happened.

And I'm like, gee, are you kidding me? You know, I couldn't, you know, they saw it before me.

So, are you going to be the next Captain America?

Well, see, that's the thing. At the end of Endgame, Sam didn't accept the shield. If you remember, he told Steve, it doesn't feel right because this shield is yours.

So, you know, the show is a long way of figuring around who's going to be Captain America, who where's the shield going to end up? And if Captain America, if that moniker is gonna come back and, you know, somebody's gonna hold that mount moniker again.

Okay. And so, uh I guess last one for you on this. At least did you did you beat the uh Previous Captain America in the fantasy league? Did you at least take out? Chris Evans?

How did this work? Walk me through this, please. I didn't.

So I was in Europe shooting Falcon Winner Soldier when we had our draft.

Okay. So I'm on set. It's like three a.m.

So I missed the first like three or four rounds of the draft. And literally, everybody who I got auto-given. got hurt. the first two weeks of the season.

So Saquon, is that what Saquon? Taquan. Yep. Taquan was my first round pick. Out, gone, boom.

Just like that.

So you had the second overall pick in this draft, pretty much. I think that's probably third. Wow.

So that's unfortunate that he dropped a three for for that.

So who's in this who's in this league? It's it's uh it's from the Marvel universe, right? This league? Yeah, it's pretty much all Marvel people. It's basically us raising money for our charities of choice.

And this year, we did it through DraftKings, which was great. Um is pretty much by Chris Evans, uh, Pratt. Uh R D J uh Don Cheeto used to be in it, but he's, you know. he's too busy for us.

Now he just you know, chimes in with very disparaging and rude comments. Rudd, I know Rudd's in it. I know Paul's in it. I know Rudd's in it, man. Paul's in it.

Okay. Sizzy is in it. Who won it? Who took it down? Uh this year, I think uh Pratt won.

Yeah. Okay, and he's a Seahawks fan, right? He's a die-hard Seahawks fan. Yeah, which is very annoying.

Well, I mean, Rudd's team keeps on churning. Who do you think is going to win the Super Bowl, Anthony Mackey, before I let you go? Who do you think is going to win?

Well, I'll say this, Rich. It was clear with all this CTE talk and everything, it was clear that Patrick Mahomes had a concussion when he was coming off that field. Yes. That was very clear. He didn't lose his breath.

He didn't know. He he was concussed. He couldn't stand up.

So I'll be interested to see. I think this game has to do, this week has to do with. Who plays quarterback for Kansas City? There's no way they're beating Buffalo. Buffalo's running on all cylinders without Patrick Mahal.

He's the he's the Twinkie in the box of goodness.

So The best Super Bowl would be um, I think, Because Kansas City doesn't have that good of a defense. I mean, we almost beat him. We lost about three, and Drew Freeze had, other than Sunday, the worst game of his career.

So I think Buffalo Green Bay would be the best Super Bowl. And I want my man Aaron Rodgers to pull it out, man. That's my dude. Cheesehead. I'm always ch a cheese head second.

Why is that? Because I was there when Brent Favre beat New England in New Orleans. I was at the Super Bowl.

So I've I've grown up a lot of people in New Orleans have an uh like an infinite love for Green Bay. Um mostly because Brent Favre is from Mississippi, but Because they were the big team when we were all growing up. Like, even if you listen to Lil Wayne, he's a Green Bay fan. That's right.

So it was just a thing about our generation and they won that Super Bowl here, which was an amazing weekend.

Well, Anthony, like I said, I'm a big fan of your work. I knew when you'd come on the show, it would be dynamite. I'd love to keep doing this. I love chatting with you. I love your work.

And I will now forever watch 8-Mile differently. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Get somebody to call Deshaun and tell him I got some beignets and daiquiris waiting. Done.

Done, Anthony. Congrats on Outside the Wire. Let's do this more often. Thanks for the call. Definitely.

Thanks a lot, guys. That's Anthony Mackey, one and only, at Anthony Mackey on Twitter and Instagram. Binyet and Daiquiris. That's not a bad fantasy team name, too. In.

Binier. Binier and Daiquis. In. Every Super Bowl, every morning. Bignets and daiquiris.

Bignet, not a daiquiri. I mean, which you know. Watched 8 mile 20, 30 times. Never knew that. Never knew that.

That's his. He went and he's like, I'm going to go Google and use that against you. And he had no idea. And they're like, let's do it. That's amazing.

That's a wrap. That's a take. That's it. This guy's a tank fan. His real name's Clarence.

And Clarence lives at home with both parents. I mean, Clarence's parents have a really good marriage. Like these guys, come on. I love it. Eight mile.

Amazing. Rich, can I drop just another eight mile little note there? Sure. I used to, I was friends with Britney Murphy. the late Britain Love.

And there were times, you know, we hung out if For a few years, and one time she told me a story that she had no idea how to throw up a middle finger. Because she never flipped anyone off in her entire life until she did 8-Mile and Marshall Eminem had to sit her down and teach her how to do it. How to do it. And if you watch the movie, like, he has a weird way of flipping people off. And if you look, she does it the exact same way he does.

And I was like, how is it that you've never flipped anyone off before? Oh, my gosh, I got to watch 8-Mile again. Nice person. We're learning a lot of stuff about 8-Mile. Amazing.

And then just again, TJ Jefferson, the forest gump of the rich islands, yes, literally has floated through life and met everybody. Tidbits with TJ. Tidbits with TJ. I just part of RES consulting. Yes.

All right, let's take a break. We'll take a break. We'll take a break. This stuff. I can't believe I asked Anthony Mackey.

He said, Did you really go to Cranbrook?

JB Smooth. You have shown up in the pants that Cam Newton wore. These are the exact pants, but these things are. I can work a runway if need be. Bow!

Bow! Bow! And the fact that you gave me your extra pair at radio audience something. I'm coming up from behind the desk. This is my phone, man.

I need to take a picture of this. That's what I can hear. I've always wanted to drink out of one of these. I've never done it. Hey, Rich Eyes and Show Mug.

How's the water? It's delicious. Wow.

Your form is fantastic in your running pose. Thank you, sir. Chocolate chip poked up bar. Oh, that's good. Don't too far from me needing this more than I.

Nice. Hey! Have you thought about who is gonna present you in Canton? I'm not gonna tell you. Oh, God.

Is it Mooch? He wished it. He wished it. Did he have a picture on his phone? How do you know?

I think he's got them all. Seriously, that's 15 yards of unsportsmanlike. She was there. She wouldn't let up. And so I.

I wasn't paying attention. I don't know. I just felt so good. Yeah, Booch is a huggable guy. You made a splash, sir.

You made a splash. You just didn't throw somebody in the water and say, swim. You threw a shark in the ocean. You understand me? This guy over here is a Hall of Famer, Adriana.

He knows a lot of football. I'll teach you football.

Okay, I would love to let you.

Well, I noticed you also said, I'm Snoop Dogg from the Rich Eisen Show. Come on now. Rich, you schooled me well, man. Any hold. Choose any switch, choose hold.

Good! Fantastic! Yeah. Wait a minute, how did chocolate get on the ball? I don't think that's chocolate, man.

Rockwood and I hold it and we see if Drew can break it. No! And then we put that back together again because the pieces we picked up, and the hole was perfectly through it. I mean, we had it in the whole. Where is that bread today?

Somewhere, right? We have no idea. Because I think the cheese, cardboard cheese, is somewhere. The cardboard cheese is around here somewhere. I have the candy bar that I'm.

Do you really? Yeah. I had him sign it. That was a crab. The bread was lacquered.

Like, there was no more. The bread was lacquered. Yeah, right. I wanted to eat it. That bread is good, man.

Remember, they brought in some? Here we go. We put it back together. I found a photo. Do you got it?

Yeah. I don't know if you can. Can you send it to Don? Here, give it to me. Yeah, send it to Don.

I'll just send it. It's amazing. We put it back together. Right. Send it to Don so we can.

I don't think that'll be the last time we show that. That was a fun. Oh, my God. It was great. On the Presidio Studio.

Chris Long, man. Our major domo back in the day on audience and direct TV. First class all the way. Those lists on the Presidio. Yeah, we had our view of the bridge.

Unbelievable. God, I love that man. Forever indebted to him. That's for damn sure. Back here on the Rich Eyes and Shore: 844-204-Rich Number Dollar.

How great was that with Anthony Mackey? That was eye-opening. How great was that with Anthony Mackey? So much fun. Bignets and daiquiris.

Bignets and daiquiries. If Deshaun Watson can't make it, we all can. And breakfast. He just sounds like a whole bunch of fun to hang out with. Yeah.

Right. And he's going to make breakfast, which is the most important meal of the day. My kids are excited for that: The Falcon and Winter Soldier. You know, no doubt about that. Let's take this call.

Pete in Richmond, Virginia has been hanging on for a while. What's up, Pete? Hey, what's up, guys? How are y'all doing? What's going on?

Again, Rich, another fantastic interview with Anthony Mack. Please, somebody call him back. Tell him, stop crying. Stop crying, man. The proper team won that football game.

And I have but one question. Yes. Now do I think we're going to win next week? No. Cream Bay is just too nasty.

But Brockman. Hey, Brockman. What's up, buddy? Are you ready to admit that Brady was the reason y'all were so good? Oh!

Huh? No, absolutely not.

Okay. All right. If the quarterback matters more than the head coach, why does Aaron Rodgers only have one Super Bowl? Great question. You discount that.

Okay. I mean, it's. No, no. I will give you that, but if. He can't win another one without Brady, but Brady goes on and wins another one without him.

Well, and here's the thing, Pete, is I know and we're going to hear that quite a bit, but they were not equipped to win this year even and that's why Tom, I think, was more Than ever inclined to get out. Like, you could just look around and look at the roster, look at Tampa's roster, and you'd know that there's no comparing the two. You know, and so not at all. It was just. And I'll give you, I'll say, Belichick is the greatest coach ever.

I will say that. Absolutely. Appreciate the call, Pete. What he does. No doubt.

No doubt. Absolutely. Thanks for the call, Pete. That said, Chris, one of the guys that is up for a conversation today in the Pro Football Hall of Fame and Shrineman is Richard Seymour. Absolutely.

And 12. Got to say, 12 helps lead him there. He's got an amazing amount of talent. Yep. But part of the reason why he's up for enshrinement is not just his amazing amount of talent.

You see Brady pounding the table for him today. He's got three rings. That can't be denied. That matters. And part of the reason why he's got three rings is a kid at age 24 had the it factor.

And then at age 26 and 27 did it again. And it was a perfect storm. Great talent all around, but you need the quarterback along with that coach.

Now, he was a cornerstone of the Patriots dynasty. And Brady's basically, this is him tweeting this out right here, and this is why he's such a great teammate, is he's basically saying. Tom Brady, not only was he a dominant player, but a team-first selfless player who played championship football each and every week. He was a cornerstone of the Patriots dynasty and deserves to be recognized for his contributions to football history. This is Tom Brady as a teammate telling everybody in that room, knowing that they're talking today.

He's telling everyone in that room that if you think he's only in because I won those three Super Bowls. Think again, I know how it all got put together. Right. He knows how it all got put together. That first run because every single one of these guys, Ty Law, was able to overcome it.

Exactly. Every single one of them, name him, Will Fork himself. Name any guy that's going to be coming up. Gronk, I think you can just toss out. Even Ronnie Harrison.

Right, Rodney. Right. Gronk, you could separate here. 'Cause his numbers standalone. It doesn't matter who he's winning with or not.

Right. for at the position. But every single one of these patriots is all going to be like, yeah, well. Brady and Belchick rolled the footballs out.

So you guys were just along for the coach. You know, you were just drafting on greatness.

Well, no, some players had to actually play the game on the other side of the football in a way that set up Brady for the game-winning drive at the end and also created the team and the Patriot Way philosophy that when Tom was a 24, 25, 26, 27-year-old, he couldn't carry that same weight in that locker room. No. Not in the same way that someone like Seymour walking in there. Right?

So, or Willie McGinnis, too, I might add, who's never in this conversation for some reason. That's Brady being a great teammate right there. Hey, everybody, don't just discount it, but. They won those championships. Because at 24 I've 24 years old in that building where he is a 43-year-old.

He won his 43rd career playoff start. That's why I said yesterday. It's insane. You'll never see anything like this again. Nope.

Which game? A snow game. Which game is that? Uh Snow game that they won in the snow against the Rainbow Rich, we call that. What does the rest of the football nation call it?

Tuck. We're wrong. And you call it which game? What you call it? Y'all are wrong.

It's the snow game. And let me just finish up with this. Christopher? In the same way that I knew I wasn't just spitting in the wind about the tuck rule, being told, no, no, no, never, never, never, never, never, never, never. You're wrong, you're wrong.

It'll never get changed next week. Did you want to hear from Al Riveron today? Hang on a second. I have been told by people in the know. That the fumble hitting the pylon and it going out of bounds in the end zone, going to the defense, the rule that I hate.

And I say, I know in my bones I'm on the right side of this, and I know in my bones it's gonna wind up like the tuck rule. Everyone tells me I'm crazy, that it'll wind up getting changed one day to what I don't know. But I have been told The competition committee that meets two weeks after the Super Bowl? on the agenda. for a third straight year.

They're going to talk about it and each year they talk about it. I'm telling you. I am on the right side of this. And everyone else, like you, Chris, you are on the losing side of this. It's going to get changed, it's coming down the pike.

Not this year, maybe. I've been through this before. Being told I'm nuts, I'm wearing a tinfoil hat, all that stuff about the tuck rule. The catch, you know, I had a lot of. People talking about it at the same time, just like me.

But I was one of the only ones out there saying that this tuck rule needed to get changed to this. Bye. Just get it out. I was one of the first. And other people were starting to scream and yell too.

I've been there. I'm a consensus builder. The tuck rule was a bad rule that needed change. This is not a bad rule. No, no, no.

I was told, you remember people in the NFL are saying that's not a bad rule, it's a great rule. It's common. What a great nugget to finish up with. Get ready for it. I'm fine.

I stand by. Aaron Jones, Doc Rivers, and Anthony Mackey, I want to thank them. I want to thank them. Tomorrow's edition of the Rich Eisen Show, we've got a great guest list. You'll see it on our Twitter feed at Rich Eisen Show if you're listening on radio.

If you're watching on Peacock, that's coming up next.
