I got Arthur Smith here on The Rich Eisen Show. Live. The Rich Eisen Show. He's the new head coach of the Atlanta Falcons. What is Matt Ryan's future with your team?
Well, the same feature with every other player on this team, but I can't predict the future right now before you're rich. The Rich Eisen Show. Earlier on the show. Legendary ESPN host Chris Berman. Actor Keegan Michael Key.
Coming up. Tennessee Titans running back Derek Henry. Plus, co-host of Peacock's brother from another, Michael Smith. And now. Yeah.
Sir Rich Eisen. All right, hour number three of the Rich Eisen Show is on the air. Derrick Henry's going to join us. Michael Smith will help us take us to his show, Brother from another, right here on NBC Sports on Peacock. If you're listening to our show on SiriusXM Channel 211 NBC Sports Audio.
Or you're listening on this Rich Eyes and Show Radio Affiliate, the Rich Eyes and Show Radio Affiliate Terrestrial Radio Show Network, getting bigger. Like a Leon, an airplane getting larger. That's a very old pop culture reference, but it's still funny, I'd like to think. If you're listening, you can watch us on Peacock, which is free. The app is free, peacocktv.com.
Check us out. Chris Brockman's going to have a news update here. I don't know if the Sean Watson's part of your news update, Chris. It's going to lead the way. Deshaun Watsons issues in Houston.
or the GameStop stuff. You know what I'm saying? It's been a while. Is Deshaun shorting Texan stock? Nice.
Well done. Is that what's happening right now? Way to cross-pollinate the big stock. I'm just trying to figure out. That's what everybody's talking about right now, right?
I mean, GameStop is all over my Twitter feed. We've got cousin Stevie going on Twitter. By the way, by the way, I will just say this: I don't know. What's going on with GameStop? I'm not.
I'm not sure if I can do it. It's now bigger than GameStop. Let's just put it that way.
Okay, it's bigger than that, right? It's bigger than that. AOC and the government's getting involved.
Okay, there's a lot happening. A lot of crooked stuff happening. All I know is that there's a lot of stuff happening that's weird and wild, and people are freaking out and barstools involved, right? That their remarkable fund has gotten money from somebody. Cashed out and gave money to Barstool, right?
Absolutely. which goes towards small businesses. Small businesses across the country affected by what's going on.
So I'm just seeing a lot of pop culture touchstones going on in our world. And then the Mets are involved. And I will just say this: I don't know. I don't know. I don't understand.
I'm more verbal than math, okay? Me too. Very much more verbal than math. I will say this. The Mets Billionaire owner with money to burn.
suddenly becoming insolvent, would be The most Mets thing ever. I don't think that's going to happen, though.
Okay, I'm just, I don't know. I don't know. Is this like the billions thing with the yogurt? Or you know what I mean? Is it close to it?
Is there something like this? Is a billions. I don't know if Koppelman and Levine are all over. People are tweeting at them, saying you should make an episode about it. People are bugging Koppelman, and he's so over everyone telling him this should be an episode.
He's like, I got it. I get it. It's an episode. I know. We get, we understand what this is, right?
Yeah. Back off. Yeah. It's probably pretty funny. Yeah, it's pretty funny.
You know? It's crazy. It's crazy. Did they keep the receipt on the trade with the Indians? Oh, that's a done deal.
Were we sure about that? No, you don't try to touch us. Did you keep the receipt? This is completely separate from team business, Rich. Yes.
Lindora is ours. I mean, Steve Cohen is good. Yeah. He'd be right. He's good.
Okay. He's good.
Again, I don't honestly, I'm not sitting here and playing with fire with facts because I'm not sitting here saying I know facts. I'm just reading that there are Met fans who are genuinely concerned that their new owner is somehow involved in this and will wind up penniless. Yeah, and then suddenly. And then suddenly, you know, they have to keep. Bobby Bonillon, layaway.
Yeah. Yeah. But Yankee fans would particularly relish. That uh story. Big time.
Big time. No relish on this. Oh, God, that would be. All right, let's shall we deal with fact that have a facts-based segment then? Derrick Henry will be joining us, Michael Smith as well.
Chris Brockman, you're prepared for your news update right here on this busy Thursday program. I'm prepared. What is why did you say it that way? Are you not really sure? Why did you say it that way?
I'm prepared. That was very pensky-file. That was very like you are aware. That was very pensky-file right there. And then I took a phone call.
That's right. And you are aware. I mean, I am prepared. That's how you said it. Like, literally, Penske filing flesh.
Let's get a front loading. A little thin today. A little thin. Thin? Yeah.
I just gave you uh I just gave you a whole hoo-ha. Hoo-ha! All right, let's hit it, please. And now With a report of the day's news from the world of sports and entertainment, someone who is not a journalist or newsman by any definition of the word whatsoever. It's Chris Brown.
Now, I know we have NBC News emeritus Tom Brokaw introducing you as not a journalist whatsoever, but it doesn't help that you sell the news segment by like, eh, I'm prepared. Like, what if Lester Holt came on tonight, right? After the Michael Douglas, you know, this is the evening news with Lester Holt, and he's just like, welcome. This is the NBC evening news with Lester Holt. We.
We think we got a handle on it. I'm Ron Berger. Honestly, like, seriously, like. I mean, I didn't mean it like that. Sam act together.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you, Mr. Jones. All right, as we've been talking about all day, Deshaun Watson has requested a trade from the Houston Texans.
He does have a no-trade cost. Ian Rapaport saying that Deshaun requested this trade before the team hired David Coley as their head coach.
So this is not a reaction to the head coaching hire. You know, people are making a big deal that he's coming from the Ravens. He was their passing game coordinator. They were last in the league in passing.
So this isn't a reaction to that. Do you really think that the reason why they were last in the league and passing is because the receivers didn't get coached up properly? Like, is that really what people are saying? No, I think it's more to do with the quarterback, and also they're a run first face team.
So it's like, you know, when you have an advantage like they had at running the football this year, you take advantage of it. And then, but Schefter is giving more meat on the bones that it's been several weeks since he's been. Yeah, Schefter used weeks, which goes with Ian saying it was before the head coaching hire.
So. I mean, like we pointed out earlier in the show, you got to think Deshaun's vacation with his Instagram model girlfriend. It kind of happened after he requested the trade, and he's just kind of letting his agent handle all this, saying that he hasn't talked to Nick Casario, he hasn't talked to Jack Easterby, which would assume he's. Still hasn't returned Cal McNair's phone call, but. He's going somewhere, man.
Uh it's just I don't know what else to say, but it's on. It's on in Kraken, and the Texans should trade him. They're not going to sit here and What would they be proving? By holding on to him and making himself a business. What would they be proving to hold on to him to say, look, we are not going to let a player tell us what to do with our organization?
Because what, the next guy that signs a hundred million dollar deal with them who finds the owner completely uh unworkable can just demand the trade once they they sign the contract? Like Really? The number of times that we've had Darrell Maury, formerly of Houston Sports, on this show, and we've talked about this. worried that, okay, the NBA players who decide I want out, they say they want out, they get out. Like, are you concerned that that can happen to you?
You know? Are you concerned that one minute that you take advantage of that, say, as a general manager, like Paul George says, I want out? And then the Clippers took advantage of that.
Well, there, but for the grace of God, go you. Like, are you concerned that that person can now turn around and screw you over in the same manner? And his response was, No, because I'm going to make sure my players are happy. And the Clippers went ahead and got playoff P all wrapped up, right? Signed him to the Supermax after he decided I want out.
Now he could say I want out from there too with his Supermax contract. Can totally happen. Just make sure he's happy. Clearly, uh the Deshaun Watson garden was not tended to. was not watered properly.
Now he wants out.
So, what point are you trying to make when you can use the capital that you are. Let it build up, man. Let it build up. Take your offers. and sell him to the best bidder that he will agree to go to.
That's it. And if you're Deshaun, where would you want to go? Like which team suits your needs. As I mentioned to you. The fan and me.
The New Yorker in me says the Jets are a great spot for him because no place will he be more lionized and richly rewarded by the. Madison Avenue, to use an old school phrase about about advertising. They will be all over him like the proverbial rat hunchies.
Okay, like from a football standpoint.
Okay, from a football standpoint, it can work out there too if Robert Sala is the real deal.
Okay. But from a football standpoint, you want to talk about offense and you want to get the hell away. From just Patrick Mahomes. Go, go. Go west, young man, and go to the Forty Niners.
Get yourself there. Or here to Los Angeles Rams. I mean, the Rams have got a hell of a defense. And and go. Come here to Los Angeles with the Rams.
Or go if you you love the Shanahan system, you think he's gonna be dynamite. Like that. Get the hell away from my homes as far as you can get. as opposed to, you know Going, maybe. I mean, the Raiders can say, come here, but you're going to Mahomes twice a year.
Yeah. You know? You can go to the Jets, but you're going to be facing Mahomes at least once a year, maybe. If you're a first place, you got Josh Allen. I mean, that's considerable.
You come here in the West, though, you are throwing yourself on the deep end of the. Russell Wilson Kyler Murraypool. I don't know if that's similar, but Think about the quarterbacks possibly if he comes to the Rams in that new stadium. Justin Herbert and Deshaun Watson. Oh, baby.
But again, if you were the Jets, like. And you think Sam Darnold isn't the guy? And you're willing to go towards Zach Wilson of BYU with the second overall pick, or Justin Fields or Trey Lance with the second overall pick, if you're even thinking of twitching in that direction. You could flip that number two and draft to Sean Watson instead. That's the way you go.
And then you serve notice on everybody in New York. Giants, of course, because that's your sport. Brooklyn Nets. All of them.
Okay, you got your three. Guess what we got? We got someone from Houston, too, right here from the New York Jets. And this is the biggest trade that we have pulled off since Sonny Werblin got Joe Namath. Period.
End of story. You know, that's a fact. That would be the biggest splash at the quarterback position the Jets have made since drafting Joe Namath and getting him. End of story. Man, that Jets number four jersey would be a nice thing.
Through the roof, though. Exactly.
So. What about the Saints? You have them on the. Yeah, the Saints are on the poll, you know, because. You know, the d the desert thinks that they're an option.
Tom Bowie, our EP, who's a Die Hard Saints fan every single time we mentioned it, he hasn't even chimed in our ears yet. He says they don't have the cap room. They don't have the cap room. But the NFL cap is so fudgy. I don't know about that.
I mean, you could create. We've seen the Rams. You could care after year. I mean, honestly, the Jets are still looking for the next Namath. And the Saints are going to be looking for the next breeze.
Is it Taysom Hill? Or can you get Deshaun Watson right there? Don't have to move him out of the Gulf South. Let's go. Really?
And from a football standpoint, why wouldn't you want to be with Sean Payton and Michael Thomas? He is a dream come true. And the last thing I don't want to have here with him. Is this thing gets drawn out and he will be portrayed by any stretch of the imagination? I don't think the Texans would want this either.
They shouldn't want it. He should not be portrayed as a me first guy, right? Me first. I gotta get out of here. This stinks.
and be portrayed as somebody's thinking about himself and leaving a team high and dry. I don't want that for him. He doesn't deserve it. He doesn't have that bone in his body. Don't forget, this is a kid who gave his first professional game check.
to a member Of the NRG stadium cafeteria staff who got Apparently wiped out by the hurricane. That head. Please. He put a no-trade clause in because maybe he was thinking that this was in the ether when he had to, like, was he not going to sign a contract? They put it on the table.
For all that money? Yeah. Right. No, let me go into the season risking it, that it doesn't exist. And we saw what happened with Dak.
At least he's got that first year in the bank. And the Texans will have no choice but to. Accommodate his wishes, I think. They would be making a mistake if they play some sort of game of hardball with him. Yeah, Tom Pelosaro is saying David Coley gets a five-year contract.
Good for him. Again, he's a football lifer, 65 years of age. He's been coaching since 1978 at the college level and the pros. He's honestly though if I told you that they would hire an Andy Reed assistant, it wouldn't be named Bienna, but it'd be named David Cully from the Ravens organization through I mean, congrats to him. But he is, I hope the Texans don't stick him out there and have to answer all these questions about a quarterback he's never coached.
Yeah, the owner needs to be front and center. And if you believe, you're Cal McNair and you believe that you hired the right general manager, even though he's off the radar screen of the. consulting firm that he hired. And it wasn't RES consulting.
Okay. And you believe that this is the coach that you can want to go to battle with, and Easter B is your guy, and you're going to go to battle with all of them, and the quarterback doesn't want to be there. That's it. sent him on his way, Yet the absurd amount of draft capital Back that you traded away, the Dolphins can basically say, hey, we kept the receipt from Tunsel. Here's your actual picks back.
The third overall pick that you earned, despite Deshaun Watson having one of the best professional years of his career.
So But then too it gets rosened. He does. Or two O's gets sent Hey, the Jets can say, here's Darnold. Dolphins say here's to a. And you want to have a a fresh face that the Gulf South is familiar with.
I mean, yeah. uh just west of, you know, right there in SEC country. Sure. You know, I mean There you go. I mean, Tua's you're you could say we're moving on with Tua.
Houston. And we replenished all the picks, and Deshaun didn't want to be here. It is sellable to your fan base. that needs to be sold something that Where they believe it's raining on them as opposed to whatever they else think is causing the precipitation is the only way of. Artfully trying to say something like that.
What else you got to do? All right, a couple of things. A football note, Antonio Brown, didn't practice today. He's kind of the big injury that's out there getting ready for the Super Bowl next week. Yes.
Jason Witten officially announced his retirement after 17 years. By the way, let's stop there for a second. Gonna do a one-day or to retire as a cowboy. I will just say this.
So let me try and do the math. The 2027, sixth class? Is that what it would be? Yeah, one, two, three, four, five.
So it would be 2026 class. If you are one of the folks who are waiting to hear from the call, from the hall. because it's your third, fourth, fifth time. That's the wrong year for that. Witten's first ballot.
Yep. Breeze's first ballot. Yep. Mm-hmm. Uh Larry Fitzgerald is first ballot.
If he doesn't come back next year, I think we're assuming this is coming.
Okay. If he doesn't come back, obviously. Yeah. That's three. Yeah.
There's only three other spots.
Well, there's three other spots because, yeah, that's for the six that are eligible from that pool of finalists. You know. Philip Rivers could technically be first ballot. I know there's an argument. But if Phillip wants to get in first ballot, that's the wrong year to pick.
Yeah. That 2026 class is going to be low dead, low dead. Quick college football note, the ACC plans to return to its normal eight-game conference schedule next year, planning on a normal college football season. Notre Dame goes back to independent. And after seven years with the Yankees, Tanaka announced he's going back to Japan.
Pitch for his old team. You know what? Good for him. I see a lot of Yankees fans who are like, we're going to miss him, and all that stuff, big game pitcher. And He had seven good years for you guys.
He did. How many championships, right? Yeah. He did serve with distinction. He did.
Ruin Derek Jeternoit. Uh oh. You give all those gopher balls to Alex Bregman, and the entire Houston's still hitting home runs. I would use the phrase that Costanzi used for them, but this is a family show. Yeah.
Those astros. But Tanaka was you know, occasionally he hit that split finger would split and it would be very difficult to hit and he He answered the bell uh a lot of times, not all the time.
Well I I don't know what else to say. I need championships. DJ LeMay, who's coming back, he said that that's what he's there for. Plus, to get a nine-figure salary. See, now that was an excellent news update.
Thank you. Why did you undersell it? All you gotta do is just throw it in my direction. I'll dress it up with takes.
Well, the expectations are low, and then we have gives. This is the Rich Eisen Show. We're a team. We're a team, buddy. We take a break.
Derrick Henry is going to come stiff arm, all of us. Yes, the Air and Ground Award winners of the year. He is one of the finalists for the Ground. This episode brought to you by Progressive Insurance. Do you ever find yourself playing the budgeting game?

What is it like when you're back there? You know you're gonna get it. Yeah. The eight in the box or nine in the box that you see knows you're going to get it. And you know, you're going to give it to them, yeah, and they know you're going to give it to them.
What is that like? For you. I just love the game. I love having the ball in my hands and I love making plays. And I don't know, I just, it's just.
The game, man. Like, that feeling. When everybody knows and I can't stop it. Is this It's an indescribable feeling, man. And that's just speaking for us as a team.
And, you know, I just. I just love the game. I know you're smiling. You're just smiling as you're saying this. It is just, it must be an amazing feeling.
It's a lot of fun. To have that ability. Derrick Henry here on the Rich Eisen Show. Did you hear what Earl Thomas said before the divisional playoff game? In Baltimore, saying that the Patriots didn't want to tackle you, but they were going to have a different.
Oh, yeah, I seen it everywhere. Everybody was sending it to me. Everybody was showing it to me. Yeah, I send it everywhere.
Okay, so now later on, you're in Baltimore, you get the ball, you're on the edge. Did you know that was Earl Thomas? That was coming for you? I definitely knew that was Earl Thomas. Did you give him a second shove because it was Earl Thomas?
Yes. I was wondering. Because you gave him one in the front. And you gave him one slightly unnecessary one in the back. But what's so funny about that is, I was so focused on giving him another shove that I ran myself out of bounds.
So the first time he kind of turned around and I could have turned up Phil, but I also focused on this like. Give him a shout, I ran myself out of bounds. But yeah, but yeah, I definitely did that.
So then the last question is: was it worth it to run yourself out of bounds? I think it was. Derrick Henry here on the Rich Eisen show. Yes, I thought so too. That you were in the moment, like, okay, I remember this.
I see who's coming at me. And again, I love Earl Thomas. I think he's going to have a bust in the Hall of Fame one day. Yeah, me too. Me too.
But everybody's here an equal opportunity. Everybody gets some. Yeah. Type runner. Exactly.
All right, back here on Peacock, peacocktv.com. Our radio audience about to rejoin us. The office is how you can check out one of the best comedies of all time right here on Peacock. We're thrilled to be on the same streaming platform as the exclusive home. Every episode extras and exclusives.
As the office Right here on Peacock. Oh boy, Mets owner and the stool Presidente going at it on Twitter. That's one battle Uncle Stevie's going to lose. Correct. I would I would have him uh retreat.
When you got 13 B's, bro, you don't really back here on the Rich Eisen show. Yeah, the Mets owner and David Portnoy going at it. The owner of the Mets and the Presidente of Barstall. Yeah. Yeah, you got that much to say.
I mean, Wall Street is meeting social media, meeting apps and streamers, and oh my gosh. I know. Steve Cohen's kind of involved in this whole stuff. Oh, my world. I got to read up on this.
It's kind of messy. In the meantime, I need to interview Derrick Henry. Is he on the phone line, Christopher? He is. Here he is, the man, on behalf of the FedEx Aaron Ground Players of the Year award that will be given out the night before the Super Bowl.
The man who was darn near 500 yards clear of the next rusher on the season rushing yards list. He is Derrick Henry, the Tennessee Titans. How are you, Derek? You know the idea. Doing?
I'm doing well.
So let's start, I guess, with how you thought your year went. Let's go open-ended right here to start things off. How did you think your year went? Derek. Uh Who was good about uh Wasn't good enough.
We ain't in the Super Bowl, so it was all right.
So that's how you measure the season when it all comes down to it. Yeah. Okay. Well, I mean, I guess what did happen in the in your last game? Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. On all three places, and we didn't do. Enough or play well enough to win, and they did.
So that's why they win the game.
So, how did they, I guess, get you on the turf more successfully this time around than the last time in the playoffs? They're more physical. It's still game. uh the physical team pride pride ourselves on being a physical team and They just played by their own political team and, um, they had a plan and they executed it.
Okay. And so this season, though, for you personally, do you take any. Regarding that, and just sit back and say, you know, you got in the 2,000-yard club, Derek. I mean, that's pretty damn significant. You know?
Oh well I mean, as far as us as a whole, um Very uh very special uh No. Me, my teammates, um, you know, everybody on the offense that made that happen from the O-line to. Tight end receivers, fullbacks. Um, those guys walking for me to have success, it was a cool moment to. To have with them, and you know, to be able to accomplish that.
I mean, it's only people who've done it so it's definitely a unique company but I'm motivated. Mm-hmm. Can we uh Get to work and get in the offseason and get ready for next year. Derek Henry here on the Rich Eisen Show. Your fellow nominees for the player of the year at the running back position, Dalvin Cook and Alvin Kamara.
What do you like about those guys? Um I can do it on the ground. and receiving He's been doing it since he came in the league very deserving. for the award. And that one cooked.
like signing this explosive Run through you, run by you. Thank you, Ms. Just a hell of a player. You know, like I said, all three of us are very deserving and, um you know, uh, they all have been balling this season. You know.
for them to get recognized as well.
So, who would you pay hard-earned American dollars to watch run the football, Derek? Those two guys, who else? Who else would you pay to run the f watch run the football in the NFL? All the things, I mean, I mean, all the all the bags that, you know. That have been playing at a high level.
I mean, I can go on and on, listen to on and on. Those guys. and everybody else, um Christian. Uh Saquon. Uh The case.
Uh I don't wanna miss Chubb. Um maybe Kareem. I mean, I I could go on and on about, uh, He didn't I mean the the the whole list, James Robertson, he Had a phenomenal year of being on the draft depriation and coming in and do what he did this year. Task takers. I mean, I can keep going if you want me to.
Well, yeah, I do no, I I guess it's pretty cool to pound the table here in the so-called passing league that you had somebody like yourself with 2,000 yards rushing. And you actually, if that game went in overtime, You could have set the single season and also single game rushing records in the same game. Do you have some sort of. You know, I guess, chip on your shoulder to remind everybody how important this part of the NFL is, despite we're talking about 300-yard, 400-yard passers, and things like that. Derek?
Um I just take uh take pride in I was doing my job and being efficient and being consistent in my play. each and every week trying to play at a high level to doing what I can to you know help um help the team and you know and um So I'm going out there and uh try to gain yards and, you know, um getting the end zones and I make sure I'm prepared each and every week. Do those type of things. And I know guys on offense side of the ball take part in that as well. Make sure that We doing what we can and being efficient as we can.
Running the ball. Each and every week.
Okay. So, um, what makes a good stiff arm? Derrick Henry. What makes a good stiff arm? But we're basically good stiff arm.
If if it's if it's not a meme or It's not a Videos and different things all over the internet, it's probably not a good stiff.
Okay, so it's I guess it's kind of like my business. Clicks, likes, right? Those are the metrics about a good video for me: the number of people who watch it, retweet it.
So That's it's the same thing is what you're saying for stiff arms. Yeah but yeah. I mean, like, as long as you ever step on a dude and then keep running gang yards, then it's a good step farmer. But sometimes, I can have a good stiff arm, and I run myself out of bounds because I'm so focused on stiff arm and. Got in front of me.
Well, I mean, sometimes also, I guess to equate it as well, you know, whenever I play poker, I feel the need whenever I, you know, beat somebody and take a bunch of their money, especially as a friend. I do apologize. I do even say, like, I'm sorry, just a little bit. Do you ever apologize, just at some point, just know how you have stolen another man's soul when they are somebody's son or somebody's father, and you go up to that person and just basically even go up and say, Hey, I understand that was that was a lot, but you, or you don't ever acknowledge that with somebody who is a person. I just say it's all in love with the game, never personal, it's just business.
Yeah, I mean y Josh Norman this year I think is the one that you memed. I believe.
Okay. Yeah, this It is business. It is business. It's ne it's never personal.
Well, unless it was Earl Thomas in last year's playoffs, right, Derek? That was kind of personal, wasn't it? It's never personal though. Me I seen Earl uh After that, and I got to talk to him. It's all in love with the game.
I said, there's no personal disbus all this.
Okay, if I could give you a choice to hurdle a guy or stiff arm the guy and keep running, which is your choice, Derek? You know, I'm going to want a stiff arm. And when I do it, I'm going to do it aggressively.
So, you know, I want a stiff arm. Can you hurdle someone aggressively? I don't know. That's just more grace, I think. Pretty much.
You know, so what's so funny is like I've been I don't know. I probably had the opportunity, but I want to hurt her. It's gonna come. They have an issue next year, I will heard of it.
So remember this conversation.
Okay. Okay, very good. I like that. Derrick Henry here. At any point during these playoffs, watching Brady, did you sit there at any point saying, I thought I took care of this guy last year?
I thought we were done with this guy. But now he's back in the Super Bowl. How are you viewing his ride right now? Derek? Oh.
Yeah, I mean, uh we definitely know what type of play he is when it comes down to To the playoffs, and you know, he went in the camp for a reason. That's to get to the Super Bowl. No, Tom Brady, Tom Brady, his resume speaks volumes, so You know, it was, I'm sure it wasn't no surprise to nobody to see. Tom Brady back to the Super Bowl. How many times has he been like 10 times?
I mean, they are very familiar. The Super Bowl and Tom Brady are very great friends. They are very good friends. They go way back, sort of like your alma mater in national championships, too, but I'll get to that in a second. How do you see Super Bowl 55 playing out, Derek?
Obviously, you know taking on the Chiefs very well in a playoff game and how difficult it is to beat them, and you also know how it is to face them regular season. How do you, Derrick Henry, break down Super Bowl 55 and who wins it? Um, I think it's gonna be a great game. Um I think, uh, you know They are a little bit familiar with each other because they played each other earlier this year. Kind of the same scenario Chiefs were away team and Tampa play home, but not the Super Bowl.
So um no different circumstances But I think Teva Blaze has been playing lights out on defense. And they've just been building up each other on both sides of the ball, really on all three phases. The Chiefs, with me, it's. I mean, we all know. Who they are, and the type of style that they play.
I think it's gonna be a great game. I think it's gonna be a really good Super Bowl, but I mean, I think you go against the Reigning Champs. Um And I mean the office is just so exposed to it, and No, I think they they do a great job as well.
So, I mean I'm going to random chips. But those linebackers for Tampa, haven't they really come on strong? Those two guys, I mean, you know. They come on strong. Those very sound.
They. They they they have been balling Evan White has been balling he's been balling as well, so I mean, it's going to be a great one, but I will take the rain this time. What's the hardest you've been hit, Derek, in a game? Who's hit you the hardest in your career? Professional, college, anybody?
Has anybody given you that hit? I mean, I've been hit pretty hard a couple of times. I mean, last year. Uh Zach Cunningham Uh caught me one time pretty good so okay All right. And then I guess before I let you go, Derek, Deshaun Watson has apparently requested a trade finally from the Houston Texans.
Your thoughts on May. Maybe not seeing him twice a year now. In your division. It's very far. I wish them, well I know Deshaun, I wish them the best on whatever occurs During this whole situation, but that's that's definitely great news for us.
We have the zeno twice a year.
So go to nfl.com/slash FedEx, right? On Twitter at NFL or on the NFL mobile app. Voting is going on right now, closes.
next Tuesday at three Eastern time. And uh I guess You are Here on behalf of the entire award. Do you pound the table for yourself here, or just what, Derek? Is that how it goes? For this?
Well I would definitely like to bring, um The trophy home for the second year in a row. Nice.
Like I said, other guys are barely deserving for the award, but Um, I I would definitely like to bring uh that trophy home and uh be able to have the opportunity again. And voting ends on Tuesday, February 2nd. They can vote at nfl.com slash FedEx. If you want to vote for me, I definitely appreciate it. You'll accept it.
Earlier today, I got to On behalf of FedAce and being a partner with them, spend time with some healthcare workers and they've had. Neighborhood heroes here in this community, and I'm going to talk with them and get to know them and spend some time with them asking me questions. And I actually uh found out that the when I won Fanex uh Player of the week. I played the week, uh I was able to they're able to deliver five backpacks on The medical backpacks to local communities and clinics, which I thought that was very cool because Puddex is donating $20,000. to direct relief on behalf of the air and ground.
players for uh running back and quarterback.
So it's a great thing FedEx to join and Glad to be here on behalf of FedAction. Talking to my guy, Rich. There you go. I appreciate it.
So, before I let you go, I'll let you pound the table here: Ingram Henry Jacobs, Drake. There's already a Harris in the league, right? Um here comes another one. What do they all have in common, these running backs? Might be missing one or two.
We all have that in common. Bama is RBU. There ain't no question. If any anybody questioned it, it should be overlooked and done with due to situation. NFL.
RBU. NFL, RBU, running back university. What's the most you ever pissed off, Nick Saban, before I let you go? What's the one you I've had a moment. Whenever uh out of the devil, we uh he got pretty mad at me.
What happened? I think we were we used to do a period where we do team run and Um, uh, Kipper was still there at that time too. I think it was my last year, and uh Um team run is it's like it's like it's like that's after they're in practice like gang day is the one off mo uh one is going against one is on offense and defense and I think we had got like three or four runs in and I was the only one doing the reps and we were killing the defense. And I think Osama was was was mad on how the defenses uh playing um against against us on that team run and he started period over and I was gassed. I was like, oh my God, I'm like, man, somebody's got to come in here.
I was like, I was like, hey, can somebody else come with nobody else available? To see it was angry. You know, he he was on me. and told me to be quiet in it. Get back in there and finish the rep.
So that was the one time Sabin had really got on to me.
So I guess you pissed him off because of how good you were against the defense. And then he needed you to bring the same energy when he restarted the period because of how bad you made the defense look. And you said you were you were you were gassed or you were indicating that, and that's what pissed him off even more.
So it was all about doing it. Basically, he was saying, stop prying, stop making excuses, get your butt back in there, run the ball again, see if you can do it again. And did you? Oh, I I I think I have uh Pretty good success. Played a little better, but I still had a little bit of cons.
I don't know if I was.
Well, I was able to breathe, but I know I got through it.
Well, I guess that's coaching. And then you've got a Heisman trophy on the case for it. Hey, Derek, thank you for the call. I guess congrats on all your success. I do love talking to you.
So we won't lose this number, and you don't. lose it as well. Appreciate it, Derek. Congrats on all your success as always. Right back at you.

That's O'ReillyAuto.com/slash Eisen. Big word alert. Big word alert. I have a lot of confidence in Coach Coach Bogano. All right, let's move to a little bit more of an omnibus portion of our conversation here, Coach Matt Nagy.
First things first, pass interference now being challengable.
Now you can review this stuff, but... Let's do this! A grind mic! Look it up! Omnibus, an adjective pertaining to, including, or dealing with numerous objects or items at one time.
Omnibus, shopping for my big Sunday dinner, I had an omnibus grocery list. And they did. Big word alert. Big word alert. I would love nothing more.
than to ask him like normal, really pointed. Questions is a Knicks fan that I want answers to. to try and have a rapprochement between him and Oakley. And have and bring them together so I can feel comfortable about going back to the garden. I'm more than happy to have him sit in this chair.
I wouldn't badge the witness. As far as the Knicks are as far as I'm concerned with the sports teams. Let him go. Get him out of there. I'm telling the shareholders of MSG: you don't want this guy making decisions, so let him go play with this harmonica.
Let him go. What do you need him? Unless they're saying for him to pay that much money, at the very give himself that much money, at the very least, he needs to put down the harmonica.
So I understand if you're a shareholder and you're like, that's an absurd amount of money. Oh my god. Rapprochma. A noun meaning the establishment or re-establishment of harmonious relations. Rapprochma.
After my crazy ex-wife threw one of my Emmys at me, I knew there was no chance for rapprochement between us. Mike, I'm proud of you. That was a big moment. Thanks, Adam. That was a big moment.
Appreciate it. And that's it for today's Big Word Alerts. You're welcome. Yeah. Very good.
Very, very, very good. Top-notch acting. Yeah, those, those, you know, it's not acting. You guys don't pay attention to when I go off on a jag.
Sometimes he's look, he's on his phone right now. Yeah. He's literally on his phone right now. Are you doing some banking, TJ? What are you doing?
I'm Instagramming. For the show. For the show. I'm on the show. Is that what you're doing right now?
Yeah, I'm about to post it. It's going to be up there in like three seconds. Keep up the good work. I mean, it was a big word alert. There's a chance for you to use a big word right there, Rich.
Just saying. I don't want to. I mean. I do see what I can.
Well, you think I'm I'm texting girls over here or something? Whoa. Are you? Not this hour. No nice.
Well done. Okay, we're back here on the Rich Islands radio show. They got a little awkward here, I'm not going to lie.
So, Art Rudy. of the Pittsburg Steelers says that Big Ben has indicated to the team Um That he wants to keep playing. Wants to be back. And quote, I think we'd like to see Ben back for another year, if that can work. But as we've said, there's a lot of work to be done to see if that can happen.
There may need to be a decision to be made for that. to happen. What is it, $41 million is on the cap? He's owed a lot of money. Yeah, so his current number is unmanageable.
That's not manageable. It's not GameStop stock.
Well, we're constantly bringing this back together. I try to read the up on this to understand what's going on. You should, so we can talk about it tomorrow. It's crazy. People might want to talk sports instead.
This is how I feel when you guys talk billions and I'm out of the line.
Well, I'm doing well because I took stock and brother from another.
So. How's that first switch?
Well done. Michael Smith here on The Rich Eisen Show. How are you, Michael? How's that stock doing? Is it is it game stop?
You know what? Apparently I'm allowed to keep to trading it. Um so um I'm still I'm still all in on Brother from Another, essentially. I appreciate it.
It it definitely played a long game with us. You know what I mean? Just Put your money there and forget about it.
Well, that's why I made an appearance on Brother from Another's post-game show after the super wild card weekend. Call me. Appreciate you. Of course. How are you guys doing?
I'm just protecting my investment. How are you?
So, to Sean Watson, I've said that the Texans would make a serious mistake to try and. play some sort of hardball with him. And I would be patently disappointed if I start hearing talk of the reason why it doesn't work out in Houston is because Watson did X, Y, and Z to try and maybe paint him as greedy or something like that. I hope that this is not going to happen. I'm kind of front-loading this conversation, hoping that does not happen because Deshaun Watson is undeserving of that.
Based on my assumption.
So I give you the floor on what you think of this situation that's unfolding. No, I agree. And I don't expect it to come to that. For one, not only is this unusual in the fact that there's a 25-year-old elite top five-level quarterback in his prime looking to get traded. Um I mean the closest comp is Jay Cutler, and he's certainly no comparison to to Deshaun Watson, but that's as close as we've gotten to a a player of this caliber at this position Um On the on the verge of being moved.
Um Typically there's money involved. Typically, it is. I mean, I think the greed comes in when it's somebody that's playing under the franchise tag or isn't happy with this contract and they can't come to an agreement. you know, even the Aaron Rodgers Frustration post-game has been linked to him wanting clarity on his future when it comes to his contract in particular. This is none of that.
This is simply Deshaun Watson doesn't want to be a part of the organization anymore, and by the organization, it's Cal McNair. which is why the hiring of David Cully is irrelevant Because it wasn't about The codes It was about ownership and upper management.
So it's nothing against David Cully? You know, it's not about his relationship or his the time he met David Curley at the Pro Bowl. No, it's just. fed up with an organization that's that's wasting his career, And misleading him along the way. And I think the thing to focus on is that it's not.
Uh limited just to Sean Watson. Player after player has fallen out with this organization, whether that's I mean DeAndre Hopkins, Andre Johnson. Dwayne Brown, even Ed Reed, who had a cup of coffee there in the back end of his career, was like, this ain't it.
So, you know, I appreciate that the Texas are trying to shift the culture with the hiring of David Cully, but It's too late to salvage a Deshaun Watson relationship, and I agree with you that. I think the solution to this is to Shift traditional thinking. Coincidentally, or fittingly, we're dealing with the organization whose late owner. once infamously said, reportedly, we can't let the MH run to prism. Present, excuse me.
Well This doesn't have to be contentious. And we'll get into this more on Brother from Nether coming up on Peacock. But this doesn't have to be contentious. This doesn't have to be personal. This doesn't have to be a situation where, no, we're going to dictate this.
I think everybody can win in this situation. Because if you look at it as look, rather than force Deshaun to do what I believe, He's more than willing to do, which is sit and withhold his services. Whether they force them to go there and force us to get uglier than it already is, take this asset and use it to reset your organization like Nobody's been able to do since I don't know, Jimmy Johnson and Herschel Walker. I mean the haul that they're going to be able to command for this guy is going to be practically unprecedented. And so I think if I'm the Texans, I'm looking at this as an opportunity as opposed to A problem.
You are spitting facts, Michael. There's no question about it. You replenish, and if you do believe that Casario and Cully are your GM coach tandem for the future, give him a five-year deal for crying out loud, then take this off his plate for crying out loud. You know, that's a lot of crying out loud. But Texans are, in fact, literally doing that.
Texans fans are literally doing that because Watson is a dream come true. And you'll be talking about that on Brother from Another in the couple minutes and a half we'll do left. Did I hear in my ear correctly? You've got Ray Allen on your program today. That's pretty cool.
Yes, we are shooting the breeze with Ray Allen. Who better to um talk about uh you know, these super teams. Yeah. They're trying to figure it out in the NBA, like the like the Brooklyn Nets or even one of those old franchises. I don't know if you want to call them a super team, but the Milwaukee Bucks.
Um so getting his thoughts on contenders around the league. You know, just Looking for some stories, man. I love it when these guys come on and unearth stories about what was and what could have been. Michael Holley, my co host, he just did a book on the Boston Big Three in uh the Celtics Championship in 0 seven 08.
So I'd love to Here would also Yeah. could share with us about That last Celtics franchise to win a championship, what he thinks about the current Celtics.
So, yeah, it'd be fun to kick it with him. Yeah, it's always weird because I knew Ray Allen as a player, Michael covered him as a player, and it's like now we're talking to him about. Uh golf and You know, life after basketball.
So those are always fun to catch up with. Yeah, fantastic. Yeah, and Doc Sixers almost blew it last night to Bias Harris with a huge jumper to win the game for the Sixers in avoiding. I prefer to look at it as they held on against the defending champions. Let's do that.
You know, I think let's turn a front upside down. Yeah, that was a 13-0 run.
Okay. And they almost lost the lead. But I look at it as they control the game.
Okay. And Joel and B. Is in control of the non-LeBron James division of MVP candidates. Michael, I absolutely hear you. And you could also say the Brooklyn Nets trio of Durant and Harden and Kyrie came up with a big roadwin, or you could say they were forced to overtime by the Hawks a week after the Cavs beat them in double overtime.
So there's lots for you to talk about. We're going to be on the ladder there. That would be as much as they could score. Sure, we got to. Really plan on beating everybody 132 to 128 every night.
I mean, good luck. It's fun to watch, but I don't know how productive it's going to be come playoff time.
Well, have a good time with Ray Allen. Chris Sims is your other guest on Brother from Another that starts in just a few minutes right here on Peacock. Thanks for the call, as always. Appreciate hanging with you guys. All right, back at you.
Always, that's Michael Smith here on the Rich Isaiah at Michael Smith, on Twitter, at the Michael Smith. On Instagram. I'm going to go home and I'm going to Zoom with Warren Sapp for tomorrow's show.
So when I show up in a Zoom with Sapp wearing Mauv, you'll understand why.
Okay, also on tomorrow's show, Rob Cordry. We'll ask him about he's another Patriot honk who will be on this program. Very, very funny guy. Those are all conversations. Jimmy Johnson's on tomorrow's show, too.
Coach. How about that? How about the show too? How about them Cowboys? Yes, indeed.
All right. You're not going to change the sweater, though. I mean, you could take it off when you get home. I'm just going to go home and snap it right on, just to make sure I'm there on time for number 99.
So that'll be it for this edition of the Thursday edition of The Rich Eisen Show. For those of you on the radio and you're in a hold, we appreciate it. And you can take your calls. Call back again tomorrow. For Peacock, we'll be back here in a matter of time with our friend Michael Smith and Michael Holly with Ray Allen.
Wonder, um With Jesus Shuttlesworth over there. What's our final poll results over there, Christopher, at Rich Johnson Show of our poll question? Yeah, looking where uh if you were Deshaun, where would you want to play next year? Jets, Dolphins, forty Niners, Saints, forty-niners, thirty-six percent. Uh-huh.
I think that would be my Saints right after there. Yeah, Saints 29, Dolphins 19, Jets 17. Everybody puts us on the pain-o-mind list. Like I said, I spent all year long thinking Trevor Lawrence would be the only way the Jets could get the difference-making coach for people to come and want to be with their organization. I was incorrect.
So, stranger things have happened.
Now, you had a chance. Deshaun Watson. It's going to be crazy the next few weeks. It's going to be crazy the next few weeks. That is one way to put it.
So, Friday's show will be quite something. For our radio audience, we will see you on Friday. For our Peacock audience, stay right where you are.
