Next to me, I introduce my friends all the time, Chris Brockman and Mike Del Tufo, my producer and my audio executive. Good to see you. How are you, buddy? My social media grand maester, T.J. Jefferson, settling in the seat.
I gave him primary real estate asking WWE superstar Drew McIntyre a question. He nailed it. He stuck the landing as he just did sitting in his chair for hour number three. Also, we are part of a team. the Rich Eisen Show uh Terrestrial Radio Network.
It's our first day on the air in Appleton, Wisconsin. Oshkosh as well. The score. Wisconsin. 95.3 FM, 99.1 FM.

What am I going to do? He's a guest. But I've got Raider Nation Radio. 9:20 a.m. in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Raider Nation Radio. I love Las Vegas.
So, who can I get? Who can I get on the show? Who can bridge Not only The Cheesehead Nation. But with Raider Nation, who can I get? That is not only somebody who can bridge those two, but talk about.
Professional football. I'm mandated to talk in this voice when I hear this music. Great. You do a great facet. Professional football.
Going into the Pro Football Hall of Fame this weekend, I can say it he can't. because he will hear his name Reach the levels of immortality this weekend. And he's also somebody who is a Heisman Trophy winner from the greatest institution. of higher learning in all of planet Earth. I say blue know it.
To Charles Woodson. How are you, Charles? Blue Noid, Rick, man. How are you doing? How's that for an introduction, Charles?
How's that? Hey, that was a great voice. Thank you. That was fantastic. I wouldn't have wanted to come out, man, to anything other than what you just did.
So that means every time I'm on the show, you've got to replicate that. I have set the bar high, but I am willing to raise it even further, sir. I am so excited for you this weekend, Charles. I'm so excited. How are you feeling?
What are you what's your energy like right now? Charles. I mean, my energy is good, man. You know, um I think once you enter into the realm of being a Hall of Fame finalist, I mean, you get to a certain point, and then at that point, Um you know, just out of your hands. I I did all that I I did all that I could do as a player.
Peter saying to get to this moment, that's my job. And then it's the job of the voters, man, to vote me in.
So I mean, I feel good. you know, um I'm ready for the weekend to get here and you know, see what happens.
So What are you going to do Saturday? Where who are you going to surround yourself with on Saturday? That's the day.
So who are you going to be with? What's your plan? Right now. Uh, well the plan is, man, I I'll be around uh some family of course, you know, my wife. Um Kids.
Of course, and then we're just gonna um you know keep our ears open, man, our eyes open. You got a step, man. You got a special bottle of wine picked out? You got something like that. We got a couple of them.
What do you got? You got a couple of them. Walk me through it. I got some intercept cab.
Okay. You know? I'll probably start off, you know, we'll probably start off with the white wine because I have a Chardonnay as well.
Okay. You know, you always start off with the white. Sure. And then you ease into a lighter body wine, so we'll go with the intercept Pinot. And then we'll move into a blend.
You know, we got the red blend, so we'll go intercept red blend. And then the booming. Where do you go? Boom. Where's the caboon?
Where's the big boy? Where's the caboon? Yep. Then we go. We step to the big boy.
We go to the Cabernet. Uh-huh. And then you know what?
Now I have the Woods and Bourbon whiskey, so then it's kind of like my after hours drink, you know.
So I got the Woods and Bourbon whiskey that I'll go to after the cab, man.
So I got a full lineup. I'm ready.
Now, for some reason, my colleague Chris Brockman, upon hearing that there is now Woodson Whiskey at woodsonwhiskey.com, you would like some of that stuff, is what you're saying.
Well, I just think it's fair that we get the sample and just, you know.
Well, McConaughey gave us some of his whiskey that we display here. We don't drink it. Everyone who has their own whiskey brings some by and we put it on display and then Charles.
Well, you know, I didn't know that everybody on the set drinks, but now that I know that. Oh, please. We're total degenerates. You've been here. Hey, Rich, you're always on the list.
So just, you know, just keep your eye out.
Okay. You know, look for the mailman. Eye is peeled, Charles. You will get. You will get yours.
Okay. My head's on a swivel when it comes to your fantastic juice. It's amazing, and it really is. I'm not just saying that because you're on here. It really is terrific.
And that's part of the. Let's mention this year, the Super Bowl culinary kickoff that you do every single year. And that's one of my favorite events to go to in person, but what's the plan for that this year for the Super Bowl? Charles. Yeah, well You know, everything is a little bit different this year, but we still are going to do some.
some stuff surrounding, you know, Super Bowl. that weekend.
Some of it will be virtual. You know, and so we're just trying to acclimate to how things are this year. And so we'll still do it. We'll still raise money for a great cause. But it'll be considerably smaller, of course, than it was in previous years.
So Uh but We're still forging ahead, man. Yep, culinarykickoff.com. Saturday, February 6th. It's going to be taking place virtually 8 to 9 Eastern Time. Go to culinarykickoff.com to learn more, and hopefully there'll be something.
Well, not hopefully, there'll be something to celebrate on Saturday night. Charles Woodson, if I had told you. If I had told you, let's say back in the day, let's say when you were first drafted by the Raiders, that You would be, and just hear me out here: that you would be going into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Announced the night before Tom Brady plays in his 10th career Super Bowl at the age of 43. You would have said what you would have said what to me, Charles.
First, I probably would have said. But we're in 2021. Yep. Wow. Yeah, I couldn't imagine that either of us would have still been playing in 2021.
So I would have said, you know, what That's a hell of a dream that you have there, Rich. You know, whatever was going to happen would have happened years ago and not in 2021. Right. Um But this is this is You know, for me, I I sit back and I I've watched, you know, Brady the last couple of weeks. You know, playing in the playoffs, and it's just amazing to me, man.
And I know everybody's talked about it, but. the fact that this man has been to ten Super Bowls half of his career You know, myself playing in the NFL for a long time, knowing how hard it is to get to just to get to the playoffs. Let alone to make it to the Super Bowl to get there 10 times, man, is unbelievable. Uh uh The Hall of Fame part of your question, I would say, yeah, I could see that. I could see me being introduced.
But Tom Brady, still playing. And in his 10th Super Bowl? Absolutely not. It's truly unheard of. And I'm sure, you know, again, you have all sorts of emotions.
What was it like watching the NFC Championship game? With one of your former teams that you hold so near and dear to you, with the Packers and Cheese Head Nation, needing.
So much needing to win that one so much. I mean, and I use the word need purposefully here because of how long it has been since you went out in that Super Bowl with an injury that eventually was the winner anyway, because you said as long as Obama was going to be rooting for the Bears, we need to show up in his house, which was one of the greatest lines in the history of locker room celebrations. What was it like for you to watch that game with Brady versus Rodgers and the Packers? Charles. Well, man, I I was I was pulling for you know, pulling for the Packers, man, heavily, man, because earlier in the season, kind of once they got past the midway point, I thought that, man, the Packers look like the team to beat to me in the run to the Super Bowl.
And so I really felt like they had started to click at the right time. And I thought that this was going to be the year that Aaron Rodgers would you know, lead his team to a second Super Bowl. And then you know, as the you know, the playoffs, you know, roll around Um the Tampa Bay Buccaneers started to play better. I thought to myself, once they drew them to go to the championship game, I said, man, this is probably the least of the matchups that the Packers won. And the reason being is because Tampa Bay handled them pretty handily.
you know, earlier in that season. And the way they beat them was with defense and being able to run the ball. And you see the way that this game played out, that's exactly kind of what happened. You know, Tampa Bay came in, beat him with defense, jumped on him early. And then the run by Fournette, running the ball and that touchdown he ran was incredible.
But I still thought that, you know, during the course of that game that A Rod will be able to, you know, put the team on its back, so to speak. They came up with some big second half turnovers. that Green Bay wasn't really able to capitalize on, which I think killed them as far as the outcome of the game. But I really thought this was going to be the year that they got back to the Super Bowl, man.
So I was. I was hurting, man, you know, especially with the Last series of the game for the Packers and fourth down, deciding to go for the field goal and not having a chance. for A-Rod to score that touchdown and It was just hard, man. It was hard to watch, you know, for the Packers and for Aaron Rodgers and all the guys on that team, Coach LaFleur. But then again, you know what I mean?
I do have an old teammate on the team, the other side of the ball, you know, Brady, and it's like. I'm happy for him because, man, this dude is legendary and he's doing something nobody's ever done before, taking a team. Uh, to the Super Bowl in their own, you know, hometown, like, who better to do it? you know, it's been Tom Brady, so You know, definitely torn, you know, about the outcome. More so for the Packers because I thought this was going to be their year, but definitely happy for Todd and his team, man, for being able to get there.
Well, Charles Woodson, it was obvious that Aaron Rodgers thought the same thing as you did that this was the year. He thought that this was the year, this was the team, this was the moment. And that it didn't happen, and then the moment where the game could be in his hands to save. Um The coach says, Let's kick a field goal. And then his post-game comments were quite emotional.
I'll put you on the spot. You're used to it anyway. What do you think is going on in Aaron's mind? What do you think is happening between those very famous temples of his with his future? Charles?
Well, I think there's two things at play. I think there's the emotion of the game. You know, um you Coming off of an NFC championship game, this is the game before the Super Bowl. You feel good, you loose, you feel like you're going to win it. And then all of a sudden, it ends the way that it did.
So You know, the emotions are running high. And uh You know, he's Notice, of course, he's obviously pissed off about the outcome. And then I think, of course, his mind's swirling around the fact that they did take a quarterback in the first round and he's thirty think thirty six, thirty five years old or whatever he is. And so At the end of your career, no matter who you are, you do start thinking about the end. you know, whether you're playing for your same team and retire or you're You don't Released and or traded to another team, those are realistic things that are going through his mind.
So I'm sure at that time. With all of the emotion swirling around the game, And then also going back to the fact that they you know, drafted a quarterback in the first round. all of his emotions got intertwined at once. And so that's kind of what came out of his mouth. But for me, you know, there's no way that I see him, you know, playing at least next year.
He's not going to be playing anywhere else next year other than Green Bay. But I think in his mind, he does see that, look, I got You know, probably four or five more years. Who knows what they're going to do? The immediate future of this team, but I just don't see him going anywhere next year.
Well, the way I sussed it out is just like you, Charles, that it was emotional. Like anybody who's listening to this conversation right now, imagine you put your heart and soul in your job. And then your boss says at the very biggest moment, we're going to let another employee handle this at the moment and hope to you have another shot, right? And then you get put in front of a nationally televised press conference that emotions are raw, but the fact that he brought it up. in the way that he did after the season in which he had an MVP campaign saying that he had he was at peace with everything, made it seem like he really wasn't at peace.
About all this, and that 2021, clearly, Mark Murphy has come out and said, you know, we'd be stupid. And Brian Goudekund said today that Rogers, they have many more years of success with him. But it's still there, man. I mean, there's no doubt that it is still there. Do you think he's going to finish his career?
in Green Bay. Charles Woodson. Did you agree with me? I kind of see him, you know, along the same lines as um You know, Tom Brady, I think these guys think that they could play forever. You know, Brady has proven that you can play at 43, be successful, make it to a Super Bowl.
I think Rogers is probably in that same realm as far as saying, hey, I can play at least. you know Six more years. Um So in that sense, If his career does extend that long, he'll be playing for somebody else by the end of that. But in the immediate Um you know next you know couple two, three years. They're going to give them some more money somehow, you know, to keep them happy.
And they're going to try to do some things as far as the franchise. Maybe involve him a little more as far as who they're bringing in, who they're looking at. and kind of give him, you know, some say-so as far as know, who's on that team, who they're looking at free agent wise, you know? to make him happy because look, he's the best man for the job in Green Bay. There's no question about that.
if he was to be gone, let's say if he was to be gone next year, Green Bay, Wisconsin and Packers fans around the whole world would You you you want to talk about a fan base that would Not be going for it, not be happy about something. You let that happen, you know, so. I think he'll be there for the foreseeable future. But if his career extends as long as I'm sure he wants to. And he'll be playing for somebody else.
Before I let you go, Charles Woodson, how do you see Super Bowl 55? playing out. Who wins? What are you out for me? Man, such such such a such a great matchup, man.
You know, you got the the young brilliance of Mahomes in that offense with Kelsey and Hill, man, they're virtually unstoppable. But I see a Tampa Bay offense that can be equally as unstoppable if they're clicking. I think it's going to come down to Tampa Tampa Bay is to win this game. then they have to do a great job of eliminating big plays. They have to be able to get off of the field on third down.
That's going to be huge this week, not allowing. Kansas City to extend drives, and they got to make them go the long haul. You know, it can't be quick scores because we know how quickly they can score. And then they got to take advantage, Temple Bay does, on offense of their opportunities. And they got to put points on the board because we know Kansas City.
um and how quickly you know they can score.
So Um For me, I'm I'm gonna I think we're going to take the Vegas approach, Rich. And I think that I think Tampa Bay is getting three point five I'm going to take Tampa Bay with the three and a half. Oh, boy, look at him going all Musburger on us over here. I had to, man. I'd be honest with you, man.
There's really no reason. When you look at the two teams, there's no reason to pick against Kansas City. There really isn't. They're an unbelievable team.
So, I could give you all the reasons how Tampa Bay could win, but. It's another thing to go out there and actually do it.
So I'm going to go with the Vegas approach now. Charles, how do we feel about that total? How do you feel about that total change? Look at you, man. Play it again.
How do you feel about the total? 56 and a half. Fifty six and a half. Look at you guys. Yeah.
Yeah, it's it's I I can see it getting up there, man.
Okay. As an NFL person, I do not condone this conversation whatsoever. Whatsoever. Hey, Charles, wouldn't it be something wouldn't it be something, Charles, if games online, Brady fades back? and a Michigan man like, say, Frank Clark.
Comes around the end and hits him as he throws, and it's called a fumble. Wouldn't that be something if something like that happens, Charles? What do you think? You mean the way that Brandon Graham did in the couple Super Bowls? How about that?
Has that ever happened before, even Brandon Graham? Happened? Has that ever happened? I've been forward with it, but luckily, man, well, not luckily. Luck wasn't on my side.
You know? I like being a little frank from out to it, and I wanted luck to be a lady tonight, band, but it didn't work out for me. What do you call that game? Chris is a big Patriot fan. What do you call that game?
Call it in New England? With all due respect, Charles, that's called the Snow Game. He calls it the Snow Game, Charles. What do you think of Patriots fans calling that game the Snow Game, Charles? There's probably a lot of other adjectives that I could give to the naming of that game.
And it rhymes with Tuck. I know you run a family show. I'll keep those comments to myself. Certainly, since it rhymes with Tuck. All right, Charles, thank you very much.
Absolutely. Thanks for the call. CWinterceptsWine.com for his terrific juice, WoodsonWhiskey.com for his new whiskey, and then culinarykickoff.com to learn more about the fundraising and the great event that's happening Super Bowl Week. Thanks for the call, Charles, and good luck in advance. And I look forward to celebrating with a text of some sort.
this weekend. Absolutely, man. I'll let you know what I know.

Rich, I hate to interrupt you, but we were talking before the segment with Marissa, and I think she has a physical challenge she wanted to go your way. I know Rich is always on Twitter.
I put it out on Twitter that I would not do this interview unless you got on a horse with me. You mean one of the horses that's out there? We could even get on the same horse. I don't know if that would be. One of the horses that is out there.
All right. There's more than one. Should we do it? Yeah, let's go. We're going to go on there.
Has it already got time? I know it's going to rain tomorrow, apparently.
So if I'm going to get on a horse at all, we're going to do it here. Oh, yeah. Rich and Melissa are walking outside. That's right, we are. All right, which one am I going to catch?
Ladies first, which is the one. Wait, are you wearing your horse riding attire? Yeah, well, Joe Jump accused me of looking like Alex P. Keaton.
So we're outside now. Choose your horse.
Okay, I'll choose this one. Can I hand you? Do you mind? Can I hand you that?
Okay. Should I get on this? No, come on this side.
Okay. Don't walk behind the horse rich. Don't walk behind the horse, Richard. Tells me that which I can't do. I love it.
Okay, left button.
Okay, here we go. Left button in. We're going to call this horse Edelman. Yeah, Red. Oh, Richie's on the hole.
Okay, now grab it. I've got Kizmo, Rich. Who do you have over there? Who do I have over here? Yeah, Pal.
This is Pal. I'm going to call this Pal. I'm going to call it Edelman because it's white and there's a Jew on it.
Okay, here we go. Rich, can we ride off into the sunset together or what do you think? I still have an hour to do. Here we go. You do.
Rich is not coming back. I just want to let you guys know that. Let's go. Come on, guys.
Alright, so what do we do? Give it a little kick. Little kick. Little kick. Little kick, Rich.
Here we go. Okay. Okay, Pal's riding, everybody. Pal's riding. Look out.
Why don't you follow? I'll follow you, Rich.
Well, now you got it. Oh, my guy's. My guy's going the wrong way, Rich. Here we go. It's okay.
Pal is now walking in circles. I'll see you later, Rich.
So, Melissa, is this the craziest thing you've ever done on live television? Rich, we're going to the stadium. Come on, here we go. Keep up. Come on, guys.
Here we go. Rich, when was the last time you rode a horse? How about this is the first time I've ever done this? Ever ridden a horse? I've ever ridden.
But doesn't it feel good? If you want it to turn, I think you kick it. I think you kick one side if you want it to turn the other way, Rich. I am now. Riding a horse towards University of Phoenix Stadium.
This is my Uber. Right now, Pal is going to be walking around Adam Boy Pal. And this is how far rich has come, from 20 years ago. Melissa Stark and I are riding horses. Is this going the Emmy Reel?
Five. Got 45 seconds left. Matt Hassel back next hour. I'm teasing the show on a horse. Wait.
Come on, Pal. And he's taking you all over the corner. I don't know. She might be doing something obscene back there. Pal does not want to be on this show anymore.
Boy, Chris Long spared no expense. Tom Boo's like, you guys had a blip. We had a blip. That Super Bowl was crazy, man. Crazy.
Those DirecTV days were amazing.
So were the Peacock days. PeacockTV.com. Get ourselves a. Little plug here, 844-204-Rich, number to dial. Our radio audience is back.
Tour effect, let's get right to them. Charles Woodson kept us late. I love talking to Charles, but I love talking to this guy who is here on behalf of Cadenwood and its performance-based CBD product, Level Select, which is launching their new Level C immune support CBD oil drops to help people stay at the top of their game this cold and flu season. He is Carson Palmer. How are you doing, Carson?
Good morning, Rich. How are you? I'm doing well. I am doing well, too. Thanks for hanging in there.
So let's get right to it, Carson, because it was the spring, right, when he came on, Chris? Correct? Was it the spring or something? Yeah, I believe so. And so because we call you up, like, hey, Brady just hooked up with Aryans, and you're like, this is going to be great.
Look at them now. They're in the Super Bowl. Unbelievable. Did you even expect that? They figured that out quicker than than I think.
A lot of realists thought they would. I mean, you combine, obviously, Brady's legacy and his history and his abilities. With a really you know, a totally different offense that he's used to being in, different terminology, really complex.
Okay. Yeah. With a bunch of really good playmakers. It ended up being the recipe, a Super Bowl recipe, Brady, Mike Evans. Gronk coming, Bruce Arians, it's turned out to be a lot better than I think we thought.
Let's put Carson back on hold because Carson's phone is going in and out. It's really crapping out. Maybe it's just a cell reception, if you don't mind. Put Carson back on hold and let's. Let's give him another try in a second.
You know, when when When Carson um Joined us. Oh, is he back on? Is he good? You there, Carson? Can you hear me?
Yeah, I can hear you laughing first.
Sorry about that. No, it's kind of going in and out. Let's do us a favor. Let's just call him back, or he calls us back one more time. Let's just put him back on hold and do that, if you don't mind, guys.
Um So again, when Carson came on the show back in the spring. It's kind of crazy how how Even if you want to go back to like week 12, we were wondering how it was all going to work out. We were all just wondering how it was all going to work out, even on that day. And now here we are in week, what is it, 20, and we forgot about all that. Because when Carson came on and said, This is all going to work out, this is going to be absolutely hunky-dory for these guys.
And then week one, Brady throws a pick six, and then he threw one over the middle towards Mike Evans. That Brady said, you know, made mention that Evans wasn't in the right spot, which is what I think Aikman called on the spot on the broadcast on Fox. And then Aryans came out afterwards and said, hey, He's um He threw it to the wrong spot. He threw it to the wrong guy and blamed it on. On Tom it was Could it all work out?
Carson Palmer, are you back here on the show? I'm here. Can you hear me? Literally, like you're sitting next to me.
So let's get into that again because you said at the time that it was all going to work out with Brady and Arians. This was back in the offseason. And now here they are in the Super Bowl. I give you the floor on did you even think the Super Bowl was possible?
Well I I thought it I thought it was possible. You know, at the end of the day, Brady left and he just went to the best roster. I mean, he had the opportunity to pick. He wasn't being traded like Stafford and Goff. He had the opportunity to find the best roster.
and the best roster happened to have one of the very unique and different coaches, especially different from a Bill Belichick style with Bruce Arion.
So I really think it's turned out to be a great recipe with Brady and Grant coming, The weapons they had on offense, all the draft capital they've had over the last couple of years with. Levante David and Devin White defensively, the young Winfield corner that's moved to safety that's in his first year. And then the Pass Rushers they have with Shaq Barrett and Jason Pierre Paul. It just turned out to be a Super Bowl recipe for those guys. The Brady-Arians relationship, as you saw it all year long, I was just referring to the first couple of weeks.
It was like, well, Arians is saying stuff publicly that Brady's never heard from Belichick and that might grade against each other. How did you see that playing out? the early parts of all this. Just exactly as I expected, because I went through it with Bruce in my first couple of years. You know, that that's what players and his players respect about him is he doesn't sugarcoat it.
He tells you like it is. And I think. you know, you get especially now with with these kids that are getting recruited through social media and all the all the kind of the pats on the back they get coming up and then they get to the NFL and You know, there's egos involved, and Bruce doesn't care about any of that. Bruce will tell you: if you're playing good football, he'll tell you. If you're playing bad football, he'll tell you.
And he won't bite his tongue when he's asked about it in the media. And I think Um you know, if you have a thin skin, that's gonna wear on you. But overall, I mean, I think it's a it's a breath of fresh air for players. It's just This coach tells it like it is. He's going to keep her real with me from day one in the season until the end of the season.
And that's just not the norm nowadays. There's so many coaches that are so worried about walking on eggshells and saying the wrong thing and setting the player off. With Bruce, you don't have to worry about that. He's going to tell you whether you're playing good or bad. Um and like I said, he's not gonna he's not gonna change his tune when he gets a microphone in front of him.
And then, of course, you know, throughout the season, Carson, as it was playing out, you know, the offense did not look clearly as on point as it has looked over the last six weeks or so. I know you got a life, you got a wife, you got kids, you're up there in Idaho. I don't know how much you were paying attention to the Bucs, you know, snap in, snap out. But was there a moment where you watched it and you're like, okay, I know this offense, I know how it can be operated, and I know Brady, and I know that this is now something they've gotten. Was there a moment where you had that watching them at any point?
No, I don't, it didn't seem to me from a viewer and spectator that that's what happened. I'd be surprised if players in that team said all of a sudden there was a light switch that went on in week ten per se. But the first couple of weeks of the season I was watching, and I was watching the system they were running, a lot of the plays that I used to run. Seeing some of the, you know. Errant throws that maybe were called errant by a commentator, but really Brady thought the receiver is going to break a little bit higher of an angle and they came out flat or.
Vice versa. You know, those are just you didn't get a full training camp, you didn't get a whole OTAs and a whole offseason together with his new guys in that new system.
So there was a lot of miscues early. which was totally expected. I I think back to my first couple of years with Bruce and and in that year, year one, first half of the season, There were so many frustrating moments. And I think you saw that on Brady's face, the frustration with it. It's a simple play, it's a simple read, it's a simple throw.
But if you're not on the exact same page with that receiver, it's an incomplete pass. And that gets really frustrating, especially when it comes up on third down or inside the red zone. And those things have been ironed out. You know, a month-long process. I was being asked about it earlier on the year.
I'm like, this is not something that's just going to all of a sudden happen after the buy. This is something that's going to take the entire season. And I'll bet you, but those guys on offense wish they had three or four more games to continue to grow together and build what they've built upon. But some of those, those, you know, those mishaps early on, the incompletions early on in the season were totally expected. What did you think of that play call at the end of the first half in the NFC Championship game?
What'd you think of that one? Carson. Bruce isn't looking at the clock. He's not looking at the scoreboard. Bruce is not going to play defensively.
He's not going to pull call plays. He you know, he this this kind of new age of coaches, these younger coaches in the league, they're so worried about analytics and all these different things. And some of these older coaches like Bruce and Andy Reid, man, they They're not going to play defensive. They're playing to win the game. They're going to go get it.
They're not going to punt or kick a field goal in certain situations. They're going to go score. Bruce isn't going to play it safe at that point in the game. And And run the ball to set up a nice chip-shot field goal. He's going to take his shot if it's there.
And Brady threw a perfect ball and. You know, the rest is history. That kind of sent them in into the Super Bowl going into halftime with that kind of play. And sent the Packers into their halftime locker room really reeling. You get scored on like that at the very end of a half when you never expect that play to happen.
That's defeating, and that was a big part of the momentum shift that you saw in that game that sent Tampa to the Super Bowl. You just hit on something, Carson Palmer, that I love: is that these two coaches? I mean, obviously, so much has been made about some coaching decisions in Super Bowl history. Sean Payton's onside kick to open the second half against the Colts leaps to mind. You got both coaches who are going to take that approach.
I mean, Arians didn't come this far to do anything but just play it to the hilt, just like he does. And, you know, this past week, just I can't wait for America to hear this guy at the podium. Last week, he came on the show, Carson, and I asked him, Hey, when you were quote-unquote retired by the Steelers, if I had told you that this is where you would be this Super Sunday as Tom Brady's head coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, this was his response. Go ahead. What are you smoking, bro?
That's what he said, Carson. Yeah. Yeah. That doesn't surprise me at all. You know what, when I think back on my time with him and just the hours and hours and hours I sat in meetings with him.
with the receivers in the room, the tight ends, the running backs. And I wish I was always taking notes on the X's and O's side of it. I wish I would have been taking notes on some of the quotes he said because. You know, a receiver would run the wrong route or line up in the wrong spot. And if it's a guy, if it's a multiple-time offender, He would, I mean, I couldn't help it.
And he's serious. He's not trying to be funny, but I would laugh out loud. And then, when one guy laughs in a quiet setting like that, you know, you can't keep your mouth shut, so everybody else starts laughing. But if I just. If I just would have taken notes.
On some of the one-liners he had to really make a guy feel terrible about himself for running the wrong route or not breaking the huddle the right way or whatever the situation was. His one-liners, just like the one you played, are fantastic. What do you say when I said, how you feeling? He said, if I was feeling any better, I'd have to be a twin or something like that. Was another line he dropped?
I mean, he's just one of a kind. Before we get to the CBD oil, I do want to hit you on another subject that's going on right now. What advice would you give to Sean Watson as somebody who once upon a time thought that the situation with the team that had drafted him was no longer tenable? for him to play and win. What what would you suggest?
Deshaun Watson do right now, Carson Palmer?
Well, I think you just got to stick to your guns. You know, if if you Or if you're in it to get out and and he has realized that he's got to get out of there. And it's not You know, a winning combination with his skill set and the way he leads that team. To get to a Super Bowl, then you've got to stick to your guns. And if you said you're demanding a trade, you can't then go back and renegotiate how it can work out.
You've got to stick to your guns. I hope that he's got a destination in mind because At the end of the day, he's not a free agent. He's asking to be traded. And so whoever has. The biggest price tag, as far as draft capital, to give the Texans, is where he's going to go.
You know, on one side of it, you got to stick to your guns, but you also got to be careful to to you know, careful for what you wish for because. Houston's not a bottom tier organization, in my opinion. There there could be worse situations to go into. And you just hope that if he's got two or three teams earmarked that he'd like to get to, and his agent can make that happen. That's great.
And then Houston also gets a bunch of draft capital and starts the rebuild process themselves. But there's a couple places that you don't want to go. That at the end of the day, if he demands a trade and they have the most draft capital to give up. It may not be a better situation.
So, you know, the you know, the quote you've probably heard a million times, and Bruce has probably said a million times. There's a reason the grass is greener on the other side.
So you just you got to be careful. There's more manure over there. You got to be careful where you end up. But if it can be one of the places that he's earmarked, then There's no doubt about it. He's a Super Bowl winning ability.
And if he can get to the right place, be combined with the right coach, the right organization, then that's a player that can win a Super Bowl for your franchise, no doubt. He does have a no-trade clause.
So he does have that in his back pocket as he's demanding the trade.
So the question I have for you is: when you were going through it, did you ever think twice? Like, hmm. Maybe I need to figure out how to make it work here. Or like, how would you counsel him about the inner... Monologue that he's having.
At one point, I knew a certain team was willing to give up multiple first-round picks and When you know, Trying to get out of the Bengal situation. They weren't even willing to listen to the phone call. And so that was my barometer. I said, you know what, if they're not even willing. to listen and hear the call.
Um then they're not really trying to win the Super Bowl. And that was my point. And that was why I needed a change. You know, I I just think, you know, every situation is so unique and so different. Um I I think if if he can if he can stick to his guns and he's got that no trade clause, then it really could end up being a great situation for him to go to a place that he wants to go to.
Um that's ready to win a Super Bowl. Tell me about your CBD oil, sir, that you're talking about Cadenwood and Level Select. What what uh what do you like about it? What what is this? Um yeah, level level select CBD.

Audio executive Michael Del Tufo's lightning quick reflexes on a mixing board are a sight to behold. With his combination of experience, nerves of steel, and endless stamina based on an intense workout regimen, Mike's one of the best in the business.
However, what happens when Mike gets distracted by social media posts, fantasy sports, and just general daydreaming? At the Rich Eisen Studios, Solon Science tests reveal that Del Tufo's delays in opening a mic or playing a soundbite can last anywhere from three to six seconds. Over a three and a half year span, these daily delayed lag times add up to an inconceivable 78 minutes of dead air for a national show. But when Del Tufo reconnects with his responsibilities, his adjustment speed is off the charts and almost inhuman. Mike's hand moves from his lap to the middle.
At an unthinkable speed of over 21 miles per hour. That's five times faster, he'd like to think, than the strike of a copperhead. His fast twitch muscle fibers continue to amaze as his arm snaps up into the air to signal that it was my bad in just under seven tenths of a second. That's just under eight tenths of a second. It's no wonder that this man has an Emmy certificate sitting on his mantle at home, even though no one's actually seen an Emmy.
I'm John Frankis at the Rich Eisen Studios for Soul and Science. Look at those reflexes. Oh, my gosh. I brought him back. Phenomenal.
Terrific. The music was great.
So 844-204-RICH, number to Don. We'll take some calls. You've got your news update all ready to go? Because we called an audible. I was supposed to be hour one.
That's okay. Is one of your. News items that Bill Belichick is coaching on Super Sunday? That news is apparently breaking on another TV radio show. You got moted.
I mean, I've got no quick-witted jokes.
Sometimes people misspeak and it's all good. Multiple times? No, I just went there. Usually I don't. I'm so happy.
I'm so happy. You like it when I go low-hanging fruit? It makes me happy. Why do you want balls with hot? Thank you very much.
Derek Lewis. Oh, wow. He's pissed at what Feller did last week for his higher register. He's not 86, bro. He did a great job.
I'm bringing in a new guy. Feller did a great job, Mike. I always want my guy to view it. He admitted to you that he made that up just for the joke. And Feller could talk to me and let me know when we're back on the radio show at the same time.
I can. I'm looking right now. How much time do you have batteries, Rich? I don't have time. There you go.
There you go. We're back again. Back here on our radio. John had to tell you at this point.
Sorry, let's take a quick phone call here on the program. Nathan here in LA has been hanging on for quite some time. What's up, Nathan? Hey, how's it going? What's going on?
So, this week I got a two-parter for you: one for you and one for Brockman. With regard to Media Day, I had this idea that It would be fun if the NFL would agree to Select one. Like Two people for a crossover. interview kind of a side by side person from each team. And based on based on that hypothetical, I wanted to give you three possible options.
Braydeva Holmes. Gron Kelsey. Or Arian three. Which one would I choose of all of them? Yes.
That's what you're saying?
Okay. And what's the Brockman question? 'Cause I wanna lay that one out there. We'll answer them both and get to Brockman's news update. What do you got for me, Nathan?
Sure. Um well, I'm I've lived in Vegas for several years and so I work in the casino world. And so I appreciate the sports sports spinning world, even though I don't necessarily partake.
Okay. Brockman. Give me your best three Prop bets for this year's Super Bowl.
Okay, thank you very much. Appreciate it.
Okay, so prop bet edition of Sneaky Good Games will come out later this week. Aha! Very good.
So that's a quick answer to Ts. Thank you for the call. Quick answer and a tease. I like it. I'm in.
How many times is Romo's going to drop just a tip? One and a half?
Okay. How many times will exceed I would take Mahomes and Brady? I mean, come on. Yeah. Although Reed and variants would be a dynamite conversation.
Talk about two guys. LeBron Kelsey, too. But Kelsey choose one and spray him and homes. Come on. Brady and Mahomes.
And I have to get Brady like literally after 10 hours of being alone in the house. Like, and you just can't wait to talk to another human being. Like, I got to have that one around. See, I feel like Brady and Mahomes are going to give you by the book answers. Gronk and Kelsey, that's going to be off the hook.
Arians and Reed. Arians and Reed. And Aarons has got to be two fingers deep in Woodson's new whiskey. Nice. He gets to Chris Brockman.
A nice tight Rich Eisen show news update right here on a busy Monday. Go for it. Yeah. And now, with a report of the day's news from the world of sports and entertainment, someone who is not a journalist or newsman by any definition of the word whatsoever, it's Chris Brockman. What do you got over there, Chris?
Okay, just a few things here: quarterback issues. We know Matt Stafford got traded over the weekend, but according to the LA Times, Sam Farmer reports that the Rams, quote, made a run at Aaron Rodgers. Love it. But the Packers were, quote, adamant. Not on the block.
Their GM. Brian Goudekund said today that Rodgers will be back not only in 2021 and 2022, but beyond as well. I love it.
Any thoughts? He said it was not. Not true. Not true. Not true.
And Sam Farmer responded on Twitter today saying, I got excoriated or whatever his words were when he said that Favre was on the trade block years ago. Uh-huh. I think Sam knows what he's doing. Oh man, I just love less need. Just let's go.
Let's go. If we're going to get rid of Goff and we're going to go on this maneuver, let's shoot for the moon. Let's go. Super hot take, split screen take from you, Rich Eisen. Who finishes 2021 with a better record?
Rams, Packers. Oh, oh, wow. Geez. First blush? First blush.
I'll go recency bias. I'll go Rams. Love it. Great job. That's why you're the best in the bits.
Thank you, sir. According to Evan Massey, who covers the 49ers, they're looking to make a move still as well. Kirk Cousins. A name to keep an eye on. We know Kyle Shanahan.
As an affliction for if that happens, find someone in your life who loves you as much as Kyle Shannon apparently loves Kirk Cousins. He like that! I'm sure I'm. I mean, everybody, it's just there's no sacred cows anymore. There's zero.
I mean, I'm just wondering if this is the Brady effect. Honestly, Brady goes to Tampa and just crushes and they crush it. And it's just like, what are you going to do next year? What are you going to do two, three years from now? And the answer is: no risk it, no biscuit.
What do we care? We're trying to win, right? What do we care? Right. We built the team.
It doesn't matter. I don't care. I'm not going to protect that 2023 first-round draft choice. If I could win in 2021, forget it. I'm just wondering if that's what's happening right now.
A Super Bowl championship lasts forever. Who cares about first-round picks? Does it ask? You started the super team, bro. Ask Doug Peterson if it lasts forever.
Or it lasts two years. You know what I mean? Like, so.
So, I do know what you're saying. I do know what you're saying. I do pick up what you're putting down, and I'm just wondering if. If we're beginning to see all that, if the Vikings are or the 49ers are like, we just don't believe in Jimmy, how many times are they going to kick the tires? I'm like, Brady?
And then kicking the tires on uh on uh On Stafford? They're a bunch of tire kickers. But they'll keep starting, you know, but they still like Jimmy. Every single article is like they kick the ties, but they love Jimmy G. Jimmy Galapola, that guy.
What's that labeled, Mike? What's that labeled? What a sidesline. Galapola. That's labeled Galapola.
What a side slide. Which, by the way, it's a great spot to see turtles underwater as well. That's a great island. All right, so Philip Rivers isn't the only recent retiree getting into the high school coaching biz. Jason Witten is going to be a high school coach.
Liberty Christian. Down in Argyle, Texas announced Witten as its new head coach. Today. He's a longtime Liberty parent, so I guess his kids go there. What if you're a high school coach and you're just like, should you start looking over your shoulder at every single coach that's retiring?
No, right. Right? I don't see Tom Brady, though, and Peyton Manning coaching basketball football. Peyton could do whatever he wants, man, and he is doing whatever he wants still. What do you got?
Anything to do with that? And lastly, news kind of hits me home personally. Dustin Pedroia, longtime Red Sox second baseman, announced his retirement today. Hall of Famer? I don't think so.
I think he comes up just short. All right. One of the greatest, I mean, one of the great Red Sox of the last 20 years. I love him. I love him.
He played minor league baseball in Portland, Maine, covered him, and went all the way to the pros, won three World Series, two that he actually played in, but. Love the guy. His 15 should be retired by Boston.
Someday, I think it will.
So, happy retirement to Dustin Baja. I will pay him the highest compliment I can. Man, did I hate him? Yeah. Always.
He was tough to get out, man. He was tough to get out, tough to beat. Right? Or was that story that uh That uh Ortiz thought his name was Pee Wee? Ortiz thought his name was Peewee for like three years, because that's what everyone called him.
Unbelievable. I want to thank today's guests, Kyler Murray, Maurice Jones, Drew, Drew McIntyre, Charles Woodson, and. Carson Palmer. On Today at Tomorrow's Show, George Kittle. One of our favorites.
Michael Irvin will join the show as well. And we've got so many great guests still to come the rest of our. Super Bowl week. What's our final poll results over there, Chris Brockman, at Rich Eisen Show as we wrap up our show on our radio side of things? On the anniversary of the Malcolm Butler pick, last 20 years, the most jaw-dropping play in the Super Bowl.
The Tyree helmet catch, 40%. Wow, that came out of nowhere. Came out of nowhere. Butler pick, 37%. Man, the Butler pick.
I've never seen more emotions in a crowd switch from elation to depression and from depression to jubilation ever. Ever. That'll wrap it up for this Monday edition of our Super Bowl week here on the Rich Eisen Show. For our Peacock audience, stay right where you are. We'll take you to Brother from Another personally.
But for those of us on our burgeoning radio network, we will see you on Tuesday.
