This is the Truth Network. Bible Wonders of Habakkuk. Oh, the eye-opening verse of the ion.

That's a little play on words here, as the letter ion has to do with your eyes, but also has to do with being yoked to something. And boy, do we get a chance to see some clarity today. We're in Habakkuk chapter 2, and we're in the 16th verse. And the 16th verse, wow, it is an eye-opener and, you know, actually somewhat scary. And actually I'm going to read it from the Jewish translation of the verse, because it's more helpful to me King James.

And I'm going to add in a word or two that's even more helpful in my opinion. When I read it, but you can read it in your translation any way you like. It's verse 16, and Habakkuk chapter 2, it says, you have become sated or absolutely full, more of disgrace than from honor.

You too drink and become clogged up. The cup of the right hand of the Lord shall be turned upon you, and disgrace will spew or be vomited upon your glory. Wow.

That is a mouthful. And the key word here that's used in this translation, which is really helpful for me, is the word disgrace. Because the idea of disgrace is actually losing faith in everybody, okay?

As you lose faith in people, you no longer show them grace. And when you're not favoring anybody but yourself, it's disgraceful. And certainly once you are doing stuff like this, you become full of disgrace. And you heard from the previous verse, the disgraceful behavior that went on about that.

And so obviously there's none of God's glory that's shining up anywhere here because you're literally covered and full of your disgrace. And then it says you too drink and become clogged up. And therein that word clogged up has to do very similarly with the idea of disgrace. That word clogged up, which again is translated here. And interestingly, Rashi goes into about four different examples of where that word is used in the scriptures. Although for whatever reason in the King James Version and the Concordance, they don't have it that way at all.

But it clearly is. It's just like the ears would be clogged up in the book of Jeremiah and you wouldn't be able to hear. Well, here, unfortunately, based on your behavior, you can no longer hear from anybody because you've got all the answers because you're absolutely right. You've lost faith in everything and everybody.

And so you clearly are very clogged up. And the more you drink, the more you think you're right. And anybody who's ever drank much alcohol can see that the problem is with drinking is that you end up being yoked.

That idea of the iron to your own heart, not the circumcised heart that we got the news flesh, but the one that has no sensitivity to God whatsoever, but just sensitivity to our own feelings. And that again is this idea of disgrace, of being self-centered. And it's all about me. And of course, when it says the cup of the right hand shall be turned upon you, well, clearly, it happened for Belshazzar that night. And if you watch somebody who acts disgracefully, it won't be long. And this cup will be turned on them. And it's horrible to watch as they are covered with disgrace.

And again, you saw this with Nebuchadnezzar himself when he went out there and he ate grass all the time because he had lost his mind, which is exactly what happens when you just continued to lose faith, lose faith, lose faith, lose faith. And all your glory will be covered with disgrace. And literally you begin to vomit up your disgrace on other people. In other words, as you begin to talk about other people, talk bad about God, talk bad about other people and their glory, guess what happens? You're vomiting. And it is and it is just making your disgrace spread horribly.

And it's, it's just a really difficult thing. Well, interestingly, you know, I had a chance in this weekend for a couple of different examples of this very verse. And honestly, I had, um, some of this stuff happened to me where I was, uh, had situations that come up, came upon me, which, you know, I thought I was right. I was sure I was right. And I was so sure that I was right. I was prepared to vomit my disgrace all over everybody and tell everybody how I was right.

And I won't go into all the details of these, but, you know, both of them were quite intense and I couldn't help, but just laugh at, you know, here's the situation, Robbie, you always think you're right. Well, that has a lot to do with this verse because when I think I'm right, that can very easily be disgraceful. Okay. Because if it's me right versus somebody else's right, then I really need to process where's God in this. Right. And, and let's let his glory be the answer to that.

And as we, um, I really had fun yesterday. I spoke at peace church and God showed me that as, as, you know, we begin to get our focus on ourselves, we lose a side of heaven and we kind of step out of the heavenly light because our eyes are filled with darkness. Because when we just are considering our own heart, like it says in the 16th song, how long, or excuse me, it says it in the 13th song, how long will I seek counsel in my souls, having sorrow in my heart daily. In other words, when I turn inside and look to myself for answers, it's dark in there.

If I need the light, then I need to look out. You know, I need to have that a larger heart, the one that has been circumcised, the one that God gave me to go connect with him so that I can see the light. And once I do realize, wow, God gifted all these people in my world with all sorts of beautiful things. And, and believe me when I tell you, it's really neat to see when they're right, when you're not, because then you can say, okay, God, you, you you're so that they have gifts, you know, and, and it helps me get back to my valid position and my, um, you know, being able to cleave to the dust and take up my cross, right. And die to myself as the idea of, of, of so much of the 119th Psalm is if I can just do that, take up that statute of dying to myself and being united again with Christ, then I can see where other people are right. And, and I can see their giftedness and I can see where God is shining through in others and rather than be covered in my disgrace of insisting on being right, um, I, I can see God's glory much, much prettier. So I hope that, uh, this has been helpful for you today. Again, we would ask God puts it on your heart to share that you do that. And I just can't tell you how grateful I am that you listened. God bless.
