Welcome and good morning everybody welcome into the Winklerverse I'm Bart Winkler Ryan Horvat is here we've got picks for you, NFL college. Last week, we didn't do one. We didn't do an episode.
We did the pics were kind of bad. Were they mine were. But I think last week kind of sucked, I had a bunch of money on USC and USC on the money line against LSU so I ended up doing good but I also had.
God I had one awful one. I took Clemson, I bet Clemson, that game was that was never close that was a big mistake, but everybody like all this. I mean, not all the smart people but like a lot of money came in on Clemson because they were 14 point dogs that closed at 10. I almost came back on the other side and bet some Georgia, but I didn't.
Yeah. It was a weird week we oh we had Notre Dame to though. Yeah, Notre Dame.
Well I took the Aggies. Ah, gotcha. Yeah, but I didn't bet any money on it like real money so I'm, I had a great week too I broke even. There you go. There you go. Well starts this week, the world officially begins right, the new world, the new any thoughts on Chiefs Ravens I think, I think the Ravens are going to look at that game and think.
All right. We're still close. There's things we can improve on. But by the time that they play the Chiefs again if they do the Chiefs are going to be way better. And they're already way great. The thing that's bothering me, and it is bothering me about people and how they're talking about the Chiefs is nobody wants to take the Chiefs, because they want to Super Bowls in a row. And so now they're not going to wear a third, but they are the best team in the league. So no matter what you throw at them they find a way to counter, and then teams trade them pick so they can get new weapons like Xavier worthy so I have a, I have a hard time already thinking that she's won't repeat three feet. And after last night, I mean it just seems more more likely.
Yeah, I got a couple takes from that game one. I think everybody's like, Oh, this is a good thing for Baltimore and I know like Isaiah likely after the game was like, you know, they pretty much are like oh, that'll be the only game we lose. I don't think that's going to be the case I bet them under 10 and a half wins I don't think they're going to be very good. And I never say this about Baltimore I love Lamar.
He's one of my favorite quarterbacks in the league I bet him to win MVP last season. Isaiah likely flowers is good I don't know these a number one though I don't love their wide receiver didn't add one, and then they added Derek Henry, and they're still giving Lamar more carries. Yeah, cuz like I like Derek Henry but like 31, are you going to give them 15 to 20 touches every single game and run them into a brick wall. And then on the defensive side of the ball they lost pieces they got three new offensive linemen and it's a tough division, you know if like if T Higgins and Jamar chase decided to show up to work the bangles are going to be good. Browns I'm kind of almost out on the Browns after like seeing the Sean, I want to see Jamis, we all do as a country I think, but it's not even that it's like Chubb's hurt, obviously we knew that was going to be the case but your replacement backs Jerome Ford.
I don't know. And then it's like you know i i don't know, but with the Chiefs I completely agree with you man. I said I'm going to bet the Chiefs to win the Super Bowl every single year until Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes break up because at worst you get a great hedging opportunity when they're in the championship game and they're six point favorites you could just take the other team get your hundred dollars back.
They're giving us five to one prices. This team is better offensively they're going to be better and last night. That's nothing because you add Xavier worthy who runs like a four two, but also you're going to get Hollywood Brown back, most likely next week, you know, so you don't have to overwork Kelsey until it's playoff time then he's Jerry Rice at the tight end position. On the defensive side of the ball they're so underrated.
The secondary I know they lost need. So I don't love the second corner position as much as I did last year obviously they're a little undersized, but uh, yeah man, I mean, what a shot, if anybody's going to do it it's going to be the Kansas City Chiefs it's going to be Patrick Mahomes because he's the greatest quarterback of all time, I like when I say that. And they like posted on our social account, and then people get in my mentions and they're like oh Tom Brady. Yes, Tom Brady is the most decorated quarterback of all time but Tom Brady himself is going to tell you that my homes like better overall player Tom Brady Patrick Mahomes. And here's another overall take for you talent wise Aaron Rodgers is better than Tom Brady as well do we have to do the top 10 scoring defense thing no to Tom Brady after throw balls in the back of the window to the equinamius St. Brown EQ equinamius I can't even say his name right now to tell me, yes, equinamius, good.
And then also, you know what, man, I hate to bring this up one more time. But I got a defender and Rogers just one more time, ever on this podcast This game was on NFL Network The other night. Not the Seattle game. He wasn't great in that game.
How awful was Devante against Tampa Bay? Yeah Jesus Christ catch the football and the Packers are in the Super Bowl, but I digress I just had to throw that one out there as you could see Packers 17 and 0 and it begins tonight But yeah, I think the Chiefs are awesome. I think the Ravens are gonna be like mediocre this season Can't wait to see who else is good in the AFC man. It's gonna be fun Eagles are what in Brazil a two and a half point favorite This is so weird because there was originally a three that popped up with Green Bay So I bet the Packers immediately plus three. I was like, okay, then we were down to one and a half one some shops Now it's back to two So yeah We'll call the Eagles a two-point favorite with a total of forty nine and a half Which I believe is the highest total all week in a game that's going to take place in Brazil We're just crap ever do you have like reporters can't tweet so their wives have to do the tweeting forum But all these other all these like Packer beat reporters are on their VPNs It's like every Packer beat reporters like or even podcasters like well, I gotta get to this game How Where who's coming up with all this money to fly to Brazil? Right? It's like well, we'll do it. We'll do a meetup You guys barely can even meet up in Green Bay.

I'm a high school football fan. I know it's weird. I like my college football I like my pro football. Let's not mess with it. I think the Eagles are really good at this game I think the Eagles are really good at this game. I think the Eagles are really good at this game I got some on this game. I think the Eagles are good.
I still think they're good They're confused about if they like each other, but they are able to score points and they probably will score points But I'm as confident in a Packers win tonight as I've been in a Packers win in a long time I really think the Packers are going there to win a football game I think they are winning this game and starting 1-0 Yeah, yeah, I I'm really excited for this game to be honest with you because I'm excited for both teams I think this could honestly be an NFC championship preview, but I think both teams by like week 10 Maybe even week 8 look completely different, right? Cuz like the Eagles bring in Vic Fangio now is their defensive coordinator and I like Vic a lot Even though he's like 180 years old now But it always takes a little bit for his scheme like for guys to pick up his scheme We did this all year last year in Miami and they never picked up the scheme But they also had a bunch of injuries, but I like what they did in the draft. I love Quinon Mitchell I know everybody doesn't know about him because there's not a lot of psychopaths that watch Mac football But he's been probably the best corner in college the last two years. I wanted Cooper Dejean personally for the Packers I think eventually he'll be a weapon, you know, they could kind of play inside outside Maybe it's safety good special teams player and then on the offensive side of the ball, man I'm excited for Kellen Moore coming in because last year the Eagles were dead last and pre snap motion They were almost dead last and pace and the year it didn't make sense the year that they went to the Super Bowl Everything was up tempo. Jalen was snap Jalen was snapping the ball There was like 15 16 seconds on the play clock last year They were walking up to the line of scrimmage Defenses had more time to adjust I'm excited and I also like I like the moves that they made to to be honest I was a little bit worried who that number three wide receiver was you go out and get your Honda I think Saquon is gonna be huge. Saquon is gonna be awesome Ajay Brown, but I'm with you. I think Green Bay wins this football game tonight last year They gave up 335 yards per game and 128 on the ground Halfly is obsessed with stopping the run So maybe they can neutralize a little bit Saquon hopefully tonight and then I can't wait to see what they do with these blitz packages Right, um, that's what I really want to see if you go back.
I watched a bunch of Boston College last year I like his sub packages. He's gonna have like five six rushers And the only thing that scares me a little bit though because I gyres still a lock down corner You know, I still trust him for the most part Eric Stokes ever gonna be good because Eric Stokes even when he's been on the field has not has not been good And I don't know how good like the slot corners are Keishon Nixon Love the safety position all of a sudden. I think Javon Bullard is gonna be awesome I love going out and getting X but um That's the only thing that I worry about a little bit with this team Like I think this team could win a Super Bowl I would love for them to go out if they had to and sign a veteran corner I saw Jalen Ramsey just like like ten minutes ago got paid like a billion dollars the second highest paid corner He's gonna cook him every time we play him Like everybody does make it that's but I would like I would love like just like a Stefan Gilmore type guy You know like that that's and then the only other thing that scares me cuz I think the Packers offense is gonna be awesome I hated letting Aaron Jones go. I don't know if that's still a hot take I would rather have Aaron Jones than Josh Jacobs. Maybe I'm hope I'm wrong on that And then the depth in the running back room right now, and then just kind of like the reports Especially against the Broncos in that joint practice where they were like struggling to pass protect because last year They were number two in the league in pass protection, especially the second half of the season That's when Jordan love became Jordan love all that said though.
I think the Packers win a close one I don't know about that total though at 49 and a half I would like to say shootout and bet the over but you never know on these neutral site games, right? Like what's it? What's this field gonna be? Like?
I have no idea never been to Brazil So I just looked up a corner that I I've always wanted to be a Packer. He retired in April Logan Ryan, I always wanted Logan Ryan bring him in. I like a guy with two first names. It's only 33 first name But he just retired Yeah, and he probably don't if you just retired he probably doesn't want to come out of retirement Leave the beach and go to Green Bay, Wisconsin Although I do Super Bowl.
Well, but then again, he's already won two of them. That's the thing. Yeah, he's Like I'm good, yeah, yeah, yeah you want to come try to win a Super Bowl now, dude, I retired I don't care what though though, what did that guy call us last week the Though the Winkler very little did I send you he called us not the Winkler verse but Winger some way not verse wing nut verse It was into the wing nut verse.
I like this is pretty good. So I'm taking the Packers to win Would you? All right We'll do will spotlight a few NFL games Yeah, one of those is gonna be Titans at Bears.
Yeah Titans are getting three and a half. I do I did take the Bears as a playoff team. I took him as a wildcard team I lecture the Bears every night when I can I the Bears could win a Super Bowl and the Packers don't even make the playoffs and the Bears could win a Super Bowl and For 90% of the fan base their first sentence spoken after the Super Bowl The word Packers would be within the first 15 words that they say They are obsessed and it is in a sick.
And so I'm just trying to tell them enjoy your own successes Now you're trying to convince me one way here. I Think the Bears do come out and win Mmm, but you've got you you gave me a little two-word teaser. That is basically everything I stand for Before the before the taping or about reminded me of a little thing called Titans theory.
Yeah, which I thought was dead with Tannehill No, no, no, but it seems like Will Leviss is the the most complete and perfect successor Yeah, dude. Yeah under Titans theory The Bears are heavily favored The Titans are not supposed to win. It's in Chicago This is as Titans theory of a game as it gets I May have to sway and ride with that Yeah, I we talked about this I've known you've wanted the Titans on this pick for at least a month. Yeah Yeah, I bet this I bet this plus four We're down to three and a half which I think is telling I if you like the Bears do not bet the Bears until Sunday Morning, I think this might close like two and a half three. Like you said Bears could win 12 games this year I don't think it's happening.
I think nine Okay. Yeah, I mean what I'm saying is they could be a playoff team They could also just win seven games again Even if Caleb Williams is really good and then next year they win 10 11 games, right? Like Detroit went eight and eight then Detroit went to the NFC Championship game and blew a three-score lead I just think Detroit's awesome. I really do. My Super Bowl pick was Chiefs over Detroit.
Yeah. Yeah I I like Detroit a lot this year and I like Green Bay a lot this year It is usually if they're upgraded on the defensive side of the ball So it's like are we getting three teams in? Good thing though for the Bears is they don't even have to see any of these teams until week 11 Uh, but yeah, man, like I wasn't the biggest will Levis guy coming out of college But the one thing he could do is throw the ball deep and you bring in Kelvin Ridley, you know D Hops questionable right now, but you got Trey Burks. You got Tyler Boyd there. Now you have Tony Pollard and Tajay Spears Offensive line should be a little bit better you upgraded in the secondary just by bringing in Well a couple different guys the jury just need being one of them. That was a great pickup That's the only thing I worry about with the Chiefs. So yeah, man I kind of like him up front to Vondrais sweat Jeffrey Simmons I think they might be able to get after Caleb Williams and as good as Caleb Williams is when he's in the pocket Best quarterback in college football last year when he's outside of the pocket or under pressure.
He's a mess. He had a 39.6 QB rating that's where all this turnover worthy throws came from. He's a young quarterback. He's gonna throw one You know he is man Like my I feel like Jayden Daniels will protect the football Caleb might throw like I don't know 14 to 20 picks even if he is awesome because he's gonna take some risks with the football I think he's gonna throw at least one interception in this game. I think the Titans cover I think the Titans might win this game Bears are getting so much height They won seven games last year and I get it like Keenan Allen's old fat ass is there DJ Moore's awesome, you know cold comets good. I'm just saying like they were on hard knocks We do this every year with the hard knocks team. Yeah, nobody wants to believe in the Titans Caleb put his helmet on and said breathe.

Well, I think I'm probably betting the Bears here on most any other team that they would be up three and a half against but It's the Titans theory. So, I don't know what's up there. How happy is Amari Cooper? They were just trying to trade him for Brandon. I you you know, like does he even want to be there throwing? You know, he's catching balls from Deshaun Watson rapist Offensive line still awesome.

They got like a bunch of injuries going on defensive side of the ball really good I think Dallas is going under ten and a half wins I think the Eagles win the division, but I mean you got a pissed off deck who wants to get paid CD just got paid You got that defense like this is a tough one. I get I guess I'll hmm I'll stick with my original pick Right here at two and a half that the Browns win the game by a field goal because it's at home their home road splits Much better on the defensive side of the ball, but it won't surprise me if Dallas does win this game You know what? I mean with all the weird stuff that was going on now Nobody wants to buy into him and what if Deshaun just goes out there and looks awful and throws like three first half picks Like Cowboys don't have bland this season Diggs is coming back from an injury. You lose your defensive coordinator. Yeah, this is tough. I'll just go Browns I'll stick with my pick.
I don't love this one, though That's why I kind of want to buy out and just buy the Cowboys plus three and have no money on this Oh, this is actually where my favorite better the week comes from though under eleven and a half rushing yards Ezekiel Elliott on the longest rush in what world and to make those Jesus yeah. Yeah, you could bet this a bet MGM, of course Anywhere, but bet MGM is where you should go core show sponsor minus 125 is the price He did this like three times last year. He's another year older. He's fatter. That's not his role They're gonna use Rico his role is gonna be short line our short line. Jeez short yardage goal line back Right, like line him up at center. I'm like 11 and a half longest game No, I would say like six at the most is his longest game Zeke's not ripping off 20-yard runs in In 2024, but yeah, what are your thoughts? I think it's pretty bonkers that everybody's writing off the Cowboys because I don't think Big Mac.
I don't think that the Cowboys are gonna I Don't think they're gonna write back Yeah That's my eyes. I there are 12 and 5 football team no matter what they do. It's about the playoffs for them I was just a football coach.
I wish we had that drop right now. Oh, I don't think Belicheck's ever coaching again. I Think anybody would want to play for him, right McCarthy had a year between jobs, right? people like you he went to a Cabin at the back of his property invited all the other island of misfit toys coaches and And schemed out new ways to win football games in this new analytic era Bill Belicheck Dated the first young girl he could find and has six media jobs Now he's loving that is not coming back into coaching No, dude, because I don't think anybody like I don't think you could be like a hard-ass like that anymore, right?
I mean He's he was in there like rip. I like I like the Cowboys Yeah, me too No, I like the Browns. Oh We get the three I like the Cowboys but right now we're talking a consensus line of two and a half So we got to give the people the honest numbers Lions host the Rams on Sunday night Yeah four and a half Yep, I'm gonna be uh, I'm gonna be with the chalk here, dude I'm gonna be with the with the regular Joe's and not the pros because I'm sure at four and a half There's probably gonna be a buy order on the Rams. I don't I don't give a crap Um, I think the Lions are really really really really awesome I think they're gonna be as scary as this sounds kind of like Green Bay. I think they're gonna be better this year You know, I just the Rams Defense lost Aaron Donald and he's awesome and with with Aaron Donald on the field last year. They were doing all right It'll be good.
I think they'll be good too. But I like something they're gonna win this game either I think Detroit's gonna do whatever they want against them. Like the Rams were 23rd and sack rate with Aaron Donald Jared Goff is a top 10 quarterback when he has a clean pocket You have a new defensive coordinator for the Rams and Chris Shula who's never been a defensive coordinator The Lions have the best offensive line in the league. They're indoors Ben Johnson's back call in place The Rams actually I feel like might be a little overrated man right now Like who's their top corner Darius Williams is their number one corner last year. He had a targeted passer rating of 46 That's one of the worst in the league.
Imagine like what Sam Brown's gonna do to him He's gonna abuse him and then they bring in Trey White as their other corner. He hasn't been healthy since like 2013 Lions Lions win by a touchdown. I know the revenge game is there again for Stafford and you know They got beat in the playoffs, but they got beat because the Lions are just better. They're much better I I'm gonna take the Lions. I think that they have You know, sometimes you get to that point Sometimes teams get to that point and something happens Like you can look at that in 2014 and think how Mike McCarthy never recovered from that Seattle game Yeah, and it takes a while to realize it but then hindsight you can go back and think oh They should have moved on or changed course Yeah, but I don't think Dan Campbell's that kind of guy.
I think Dan Campbell is like he He's the stopper to that sort of slide. I think he takes what happens last year and They escalate from that So, I don't know that they would get to a Super Bowl and beat the Chiefs But they are still my NFC pick to make the Super Bowl and I think they'll be having fun on Sunday night Do would you say this really quick? Would you say that the Packers and the Lions are the two most fun teams in the league?
Like let's say you didn't have a team you grew up in, Iowa I feel like I would love Jordan love and all those receivers Just like Lambeau Field and the mystique and but I would like love the Lions If I didn't have a team like if I was playing Madden, that would be my mom I'd be very easy to like the Lions I mean, they just have so many weapons like Gibbs Montgomery like to like perfect compliments to each other St. Brown You could put them anywhere La Porta, uh, Jamison Williams, maybe On the other side Aiden Hutchinson, you know I hate that they're in our division because I don't hate them like I hate they don't really have a reason to hate them if They if they give you a reason Yeah, a little brother. I mean eventually we will hate them and we'll get annoyed but also like, you know We split with them last year and I kind of think we have the upper hand unless let's see how good that secondary looks because Remember, they were trying to play man that in that second matchup and Jordan love torch them He just ripped them apart and all the in like you had Terry and Arnold who I like but he's a rookie and Jordan love is probably gonna be better this year So, yeah the last NFL game will take a deep dive into It's also four and a half. I feel like Jets at Niners Yeah down to four in some shops. We could call it six. That's right about this I'm a little nervous about this one.
Now. I bet the Jets huge You know, but now Trent Williams is back and I uke's there and Deebo's healthy Christian McCaffrey It looks like is going to play even though he popped up on the injury report randomly on Thursday But I like the Jets. I think the Jets are gonna be good I think the Jets will play the Chiefs in the AFC championship game.
I think Rogers will stay healthy Breeze Hall's one of the best backs in the league If not the best back in the league Garrett Wilson's gonna be a top-five receiver if you ever give him a real quarterback And that's the best defense in the league and Rogers I know for whatever reason can't beat the Niners in the playoffs sigh But he's really good against them in the regular season six and three and this just seems like a game where Rogers wins, right? I Can't this is hard. Yeah This is hard. Yeah. Yes. Yes. Yes. I'm sorry. I had to get it out. I love the Jets to this year I like the Jets and I like the Packers.
I how do I pick this? I I hate but one Rogers to succeed. Do you want a Jets Packers Super Bowl? No, no That's messed up. Why would you that'd be awful? Because I like Aaron Rodgers and I want him to succeed.
Well, I think the Jets are gonna win He gave his whole heart and soul to this organization. Just like Jordan Love will just like Brett. Nevermind. Why is farve everywhere? He won't stop tweeting Why is he everywhere? I don't think he has a job.
