Grantville's alongside. Paul Emig is here. It is. On the Dan Shaney YouTube stream, you see I am rocking the Winkler vs. Flatbrim.

now available at a store online, which is Embedded in these links in the comments, at least on the YouTube. Stream, and I've also got it tweeted, and you know, all that stuff. Otherwise, Uh ask me. I I um My kids really taking an interest. In the Winklerverse.

Like he says the phrase Winklerverse. And he wants merch. And so I got him a kid shirt for his birthday. Could you imagine going to school with your dad's podcast on your shirt? I mean, in some ways, that's very cool.

And in some ways it's You know, not. Right. Yeah, turn yourself up a bit again. Grant. You fucking.

You little low-T fuck. Yeah. I said that's a good way to recruit new listeners. Is that better? You do have to put a parental advisory on it then though, if it's uh advertising to The other one.

Yeah, I guess. I mean, it's not like I'm. I got it's not like I'm out there selling kids toys.

So, right now I have a pint glass, I have two hats, I have a t-shirt, I have a polo, but the logo is not embroidered, so I don't know how much I like it. Mm. Um I have a flag, I got a new flag for the tailgate. Nice. I got koozies, which I'll hand out at the tailgate.

Love koozies.

Now I'm going to say this to Eric. Eric's the listener. He wanted a koozie.

So I sent him one. And okay, I'll send you a koozie, you're a big supporter. And I I don't want any money from Eric. Just up front. But so I sent him a koozie How much do you think a koozie costs to send in the U.S.

Postal Service? Or box. Stamps cost more than they should, by the way. Stamps are in the 80s now. Ugh.

We're up to a dollar a postcard soon. I mean, it's weird everything else has gotten so much cheaper, so I don't know why stamps are the outlier. It cost me $7.90. Yeah. Just just to ship it, just to ship it.

I'll try to get it. Why could it not have been picked up on Thursday? I think she fucked up because there was one option that said 110. You know what I think she did? I think she upsold me without me pushing back.

Oh, wow. That's what I think happened because I saw 110 on the screen.

So I'm saying this because if anybody wants, if I have koozies left over. I'll be happy to send them to you, but Eric gets the free one. Other anybody else is going to have to send me S and H. For $7.90. You are the guy that will not send his food back, even if the restaurant messes up your order entirely.

Right. Well, and well, okay, the other day I got free fries at McDonald's. I didn't turn around. Should I turn around? I did that at Little Caesars one time in La Crosse.

They handed me two pizzas, and I got to the door and I turned around and I gave one of them back because I didn't order it. And I, why? And that often. And that's why you threw a brick through that Little Caesars window.

So no, I threw a brick through the Little Caesars window in Fond du Lac. Oh. The lacrosse little Caesars and I, very tight. I lived right across the street. Three down.

Mm-hmm. Yeah, 11th makes sense. And then Holly's was of course right there where you got fired from. I did. But I felt like I needed to pay it forward at the Little Caesars in La Crosse.

They were a little behind because of that little incident with you. I was at a Subway the other day. That's why I'm hyping up Subway again. It feels like home to me. I know other things are good, they're all good.

But subway feels like home. I can't say anything more than that. That makes sense. But the lady in front of me The girl goes, all right, that'll be $14. And she goes for a sandwich?

And she's like, yeah, I mean. That shit's expensive, dude. Shit is expensive. Everywhere. You could also just like not eat there.

Just eat liver and rice. What do you want? I got the All-American Club, dude. It was so good. It was so It was so creamy and juicy.

It was really, it was a really good. If people had the sub that I had. The other day. You wouldn't be shitting on my subway takes. It is hard to tell.

I mean, right, because you're the king of the troll and you've been on a roll this week with it.

So I didn't know if you were just baiting again with your Subway takes because I know that Subway takes will bait. Yeah, I know that they will. But it is a thing that I like I I do like Subway Yeah.

So I'm okay and I'm okay. Like... Uh jersey mics available. Like Jersey mics is good. Everything's good.

I don't know what Jersey Mike says. It's too much. I think Jersey Mike's is a little overrated. I'm a Jimmy Johns guy. Jimmy Johns, I really like, but it always makes me feel like.

Like my stomach is pierced. There's something with Jimmy Johns that does not. Does not work with me. One other food take.

Okay, again, food takes are horrible because we all have different taste buds. I'm not putting in my mouth what you're putting in your mouth. You know, unless the night gets really crazy. But That was a sex joke in a way. Um But Qdoba clears Chipotle.

I just want to be on the record with that. Also wrong. I mean, nope. Correct. I'm disagreeing with Grant.

Bart was correct. Yeah, I'm not correct.

Alright, mm-hmm. Brought to you by our friends at Carl's Place. I just shared the link, you can win a free golf simulator.

So I talk about these golf simulators, and some of you are like, oh man, that's wishful thinking. Um if I could just have the kind of money to get a golf simulator i would do it What if you had none money? And still wanted one. You can sign up through the links. Again, Twitter.

Facebook, I g I'll put it on my website that I think I still have. I don't know. Don't really push people there anymore. What do you got for us, Paul? Two things.

One, it it's cost zero human monies. Is that what we're calling it now, human monies? with our friend Dan Hausen. Did you watch any of the Grayson Waller stuff? I'm aware that he, like, called out Things but no.

Everyone's giving him a lot of praise. It was bad. His delivery is bad. I just want to be on the record with that. Okay.

And then second, Grant, your delivery a minute ago, I got a lot of enjoyment out of. You probably didn't even know what you were saying, but you just very quietly, subtly said, I'm not even going to deal with that. When Bart said that it was really good. I don't know. Yeah.

What was a conspiracy theory a week ago about Scoobel, Tigers, Dodgers? Is absolutely not any longer a conspiracy theory. It is a confirmed fact. The Tigers were trading Scoobel to the Dodgers for reasons that Bart Winkler was ahead of the game on. And it was to put an icing on the cake of a lot.

I don't want to hear about, oh, they really needed a pitcher, and the Brewers went off for a pitcher. They were trading into the Dodgers. because they were trading into the Dodgers. Because there's more to it than what they were getting back. That is now A fact.

Mm-hmm. Or mm-mm. Yeah, and my first thing was collusion. Yeah. And they want to lock out and they want to force it.

There could have been other things at play. They could have liked... Like, specifically, liked one of these guys. Sure. And that was their target.

Um they maybe talked to Scoobel and he said look if you're gonna trade me Can we try to like I'd like to go. I mean, you don't have to, but I'd so there's a whole host of reasons. I don't understand. And I don't know. It feels like.

It does feel like a Milwaukee pylon. The way that people have been treating us about the box Oh yeah. And the brewers have gotten this too. But for all these different scenarios. For you to see You being like Chris Rose, I saw, who I like, but he's freaking out about this the other day.

For the Tigers to trade Scoobel to the Dodgers. If I'm just an impartial observer, I'm thinking. Oh. Collusion for the strike. I'm thinking, oh, there must be a relationship there.

I'm thinking, oh, they must have liked the prospect. I'm thinking, oh, Scuba wanted to go there. The last thing I'm thinking of is Fuck the brewers for not making this trade. At what point are you going to go all in? Arnold said, and I believe him.

that they were making some real irresponsible offers. And I do believe that. And I do worry. That like...

Sometimes if you're in a good position like the Brewers and you don't make a big move, It actually deflates the team. Forget trading Josh Hayter. When you're in first. But not making a big swing might deflate you a little bit too. but I don't think the brewers didn't try.

Now, could they have tried harder? They could have given him Jackson Churio, sure. I mean, they could have tried harder. But they tried pretty hard.

So I just don't know why. Like if you're a brewers fan and you're like when are we gonna do something But if you're just an impartial observer to baseball, What I just I just have conversations. It's just a constant attack on all things Milwaukee, and I don't understand. Why? And I'm not making this shit up.

I know I'm not. I'm not making this shit up.

So mm-hmm to your question. He was never coming here. Grant, a conspiracy theory a week ago is now a Facts. The Tigers were always going to not trade Schoogle to the Brewers. He was always going to be a dodger because there's more to it than just the return of players.

Mm-hmm. Or mm-mm. So, but I just think it's because that's where I'm going to go. Quite low T. Mm-hmm.

Is that better? Yeah. I'm not too loud, but Mm-hmm. How's this? Perfect!

Mm-hmm. But... And if anyone's like, don't you guys do mic checks prior? We did 20 minutes of mic checks today. Yeah, we had we had a real issue getting started.

Mm-hmm. For strike or CBA or lockout-related reasons. I think Terek Skubel wanted to go to the Dodgers. And that was floated, and Scott Boris, I bet, was hammering that his agent. And I think the Tigers wanted to do right by him because, whatever, that's what they wanted to do.

So they were always zeroed in. I don't think it was to try to load the decks for the upcoming. CBA battle next year. Maybe I'm not used to it. Probably the like.

least likely thing. Yes. Either way. The fact is The Tigers were never trading him to the Brewers. With the Capital One Saver Card, you'll earn unlimited 3% cash back on dining, entertainment, and at grocery stores.

Whatever the reason is. Is in a reasonable scenario. I bet. That if the brews offered Henderson and Madet and Adam Chewski or whatever, okay, well, then maybe, but. But that that's not a reasonable, realistic scenario.

Like, it's not the responsibility of the brewers to pay To 2.5x, 3x, what the Dodgers were. That's not their responsibility. They don't have some responsibility to the game and to the sport and the league to massively overpay. The Brewers, I said this the day it happened after watching Matt Arnold's press conference. I think Matt Arnold thought he was getting Tarek Skubal.

It seemed that way. It's been reported that they put Louise Pena on the table. Who's their number two prospect and the number 18, I think, in MLB Pipeline's top 100? The Dodgers centerpiece was there. Fifth best prospect who is 25.

So the brewers put it on the table. I think Maddonal thought he was. Gotta be a brewer. And I think the brewers extended themselves in a way that they haven't in the past. And Matt Arnold even set in his availability on Monday or Tuesday, whenever that would have been.

He said, you know, in response to a question about maybe missing out on some guys and not others, he used the phrase, you know, you got to pick yourself up off the mat. and move on. Like I think the brewers were were trying very hard on school and I thought they They thought they were going to get him. And I'm with you, Bart. I think there was a little bit of a deflation.

I think there was a deflation with Matt Arnold in the front office. I don't know about the players because I don't know how privy they are to all that stuff. But they certainly looked deflated on Monday in that first game against the Pirates, for whatever that's worth. You know what I mean? I think it was Trevor McGill's comments too, right, where he was pretty honest.

Um was that McGill I heard talking about? Remember, it's a Monday, and nobody loves Mondays, no matter what they say.

So Grant is to like the broader question, or well, at least part of the question that it's not part of like the lockout aspect of it, but it is part of the. Honoring where he wanted to go. I mean, it's. not dissimilar to Like, well, the Bucs told Giannis they would deal him to his preferred destination, or at least give me three destinations and we'll do one of those as opposed to but like what the Tigers did, and I saw their GM or president of baseball operations push back and say, I'll paraphrase the Tiger's GM, and he said something to the effect of. I saw that we were criticized because we didn't wait another 24 to 48 hours.

That wasn't going to improve our offer. It's like. Are you the new? Are you going to run the Dallas Mavericks next? Like, of course it would have improved.

Of course, it would have. Like, you don't. shop Luca to one team. You don't zero in. Tw one to two days before the deadline On a deal that No one was blown away by.

It's going to make you, the Tigers' front office, look bad by taking a deal that was underwhelming. How do you not reach out to other teams? I mean, again, it's exactly when they traded Luca. Nobody thought Let's show another team what we're doing. But again, if you're getting.

An unbelievable offer for Luca for Scoobel. And you're going to sort of surprise everybody that you just got this. you know, a dollar sixty on the dollar type of trade. Don't shop them. Like, you don't just don't wait, right?

Like, you got the phone call that you want. You got the call that said, Hey, we're gonna give you all of this for your superstar, Luca, Scoobel, et cetera. But my point is, Grant, is if you aren't getting that like blow your doors off offer. Then keep shopping it or wait until the deadline. Don't randomly do it in the middle of a night, not on deadline night like Luca was traded.

Don't do it two days before the deadline like the Tigers did and then say, I don't see how waiting another day or two would have changed offers, would have changed or improved the offers. Like, yes, that's how it's always worked in sports history forever. Deadlines, and yeah, you don't think the Dodgers' fifth best prospect and a 28-year-old pitcher and a guy outside the top 100 constitutes is a gotta have it offer on Saturday night? Like, no, that's exactly. And here's what's so annoying: and fuck Scott Harris for this, and fuck Terek Skubel.

And I. You don't cheer for injuries. publicly. But here's what's so just depressing. He put on that Dodger's blue, and he's just like, I don't want anyone to like me.

Here's what's so toxic about this: I can live, and I bet Matt Arnold feels this too. I can live because I'm forced to with the economic imbalances between the Brewers and the Dodgers. We can't sign Otani. I can live with that. I've come to terms with that, right?

Like, we have to hoard our prospects in a way that other teams don't, right? Like, I can live with a lot of these imbalances. A lever that a small market team like the Brewers is still supposed to be able to pull. Is renting a Terex Gubal. Like, that's the one guy or the one way the brewers can access a player like Terex Gubble.

And in this instance, they weren't, in my opinion, and I think this has been supported by lots of different reports and things. The brewers weren't allowed to do that.

So it's like, well, f. Fuck off. Like, I hope Tarek Schooble's arm blows up. Tim, cut that out. I mean, I wish it.

I just don't want it on the record in your pod. Thank you, Tim. That's why this is so frustrating to me. The Dodgers lost their first appearance with Scuba last night against the Cubs. Um I was flipping forth back and forth between the two games.

It must have been TBS, but like Dodgers and Wrigley, and it just felt like a big game. Brian Anderson. I got a little miffed at the broadcast because every time PCA was at the plate. They said MVP like every sixth word. which was annoying as fuck.

Well, and if you're look, if you're a Brewers fan right now. And you're bumming about this trade deadline?

Some of the arms they got these should be good arms. I'm ready for May Day Like, I'm excited. We're going to be at May Day for the Winkler versus Tailgate. And also, just off the injured list is Kyle Harrison.

So it's kind of like we're getting a number two pitcher at the, I mean, we're getting reinforcements at the deadline. Also, Freddy was fucking trash yesterday. This is on my topic list, by the way. Like, Freddy's just done and the Brewers got out just in time. Mm-hmm.

Or mm-mm. Some of us said that in February and were yelled at on the internet. But again, what do Brewers fans know except. A lot of things, and we're still talked down to Bart, by your point. I don't know if it's a Milwaukee thing, I don't know.

I just It's the Eric Kratz, it's the bootlicking Eric Kratzes of the world and A.J. Przinski, the only play here. I know. And because you. And you and me, but you Milwaukee people, especially, you turn anybody who plays there and has a good month into a hero.

So he's, you know, like. Larry Sanders just came back and did some shit in Milwaukee. What even was that? Like, he quit on the Bucs, and now he gets to post something like, hey, Milwaukee, I'm coming. Like, you guys should run him out of town.

What are you doing? And I spend time in Milwaukee, and I'm a Bruce fan, so I'm not making this like just a you thing, but like. JJ Watt could have been a Packer, but he didn't, he didn't fucking. Why don't you pick up the phone and say, I want to play for the Packers? You fucking asshole!

That's like me not calling 1250.

So again, the bootlicker Aerocrats and A.J. Przeynski, here's why this happens, Bart: is the only way that any of these people know how to talk about the brewers is.

Well, when are they going to go for it, though? When are they going to go for it, you think? I mean, one of these years, you have to go for it.

Well, you know, you look at their history, and they did it with CeCe Sebafio. Mm-hmm. So, foul territory, right? I see the show on my Twitter every day. I think it's good baseball people.

And I see, oh, they got Kurt on today, Kurt Hoag. I can't wait. I'll always watch that. Like, they're going to ask Kurt questions about what's going on with the Brews. And it always turns into AJ Przinski with his dip shit-looking backwards hat asking him, okay, Kurt, but like.

And every time they ask it, they think they've spawned this just amazing. This amazing who's the guy that talks like this? Oh, Kevin Millar. Is he still? Yeah, Kevin Millar.

Do you have a million? He does the same thing. And every every any time people bring up a point. Bring up this point. It's like they just, you know, just something that came to mind, but like, the brewers have been close.

Like, at what point are you going to go for it? And that's the that's the only framework under which any like national talker can talk about the brew.

So that's why it always comes up. Anyways. Mm-hmm. I have a minor T V complaint. Go ahead.

Please. I was flipping the channels today as a cable connoisseur. And uh Wake Up Barstool was on. And they only had three people on the show today. But they still had the fourth chair there and the fourth chair was empty.

You gotta move the f you gotta move the chair. Can I levy a small television complaint as a cable subscriber and watcher? TV land is too commercial-heavy at night. There can't be that much value in commercials. Dispersed between Everybody Loves Raymond and King of Queens reruns.

It's. It's thick. And I'll watch it, but it's like, come on. Oh, here's another complaint.

So, WWE pay-per-views are on ESPN. The app And now they've added commercials. Which happened a few years ago. Whatever. But now I'm watching, I'm watching these, I saw a David Gruber commercial.

Yeah, really and then there's all these political ads And I go online and I'm like, are you fucking kidding me? Local ads on a pay-per-view. And then someone's like, What you didn't like that fucking political ad lib? No! Local inventory.

So, do you guys know how TV? Do you guys know how broadcast TV works? Here's how broadcast TV works. Broadcast TV works where The broadcast there's 48 minutes to an hour, let's say. And the commercials take up the other 12.

About nine of those minutes are sold nationally. And then three minutes within the hour are sold for the local spots.

Sometimes you're watching a Super Bowl, and then you see a local spot, and you're like, What the fuck? David Gruber Super Bowl ad? No, no, no, no. David Gruber separately paid Channel 4 because they've got a local window. That makes sense.

That's broadcast television. We are now doing local windows for WWE pay-per-views. On the ESPN app. On the ESPN app. Which is a shit app, by the way.

It's terrible. You can't rewind. Right. I had audio issues. The audio between Brock and Olba was all fucked up.

Brock would like slam Oba down on the floor, and then 10 minutes later you'd hear the thud. It was fucking bad. It was shit. I'm not a die-hard WWE guy. You know how people say about golf: we got to grow the game?

I feel like WWE is in the same spot where. The more it grows and the more they try to bring it. You don't got to grow the game. I would hate it if I. I hate it.

It's me. I don't need. Whoever you, what are the names you just mentioned? All but like, I don't need to be watching Sports Center minutes after Lamello Ball gets traded, and they have to drop out from that coverage because CM punks in Saudi Arabia and they need to do a check-in with him. Like, that's not even, they're not even being like, all right, um.

You know, like, uh. Blank it.

Okay, Hannity is Stephen A. Smith on sometimes.

Okay. But it's not like all the fucking time. It's just like, here's my buddy, Stephen A. Yes, that why I'm saying that because It seems out of place. but it works.

So you can still have a little WWE on ESPN. But they're giving like... Half of first take to it. They're giving, they're doing, they're doing action, like Joe Tessator, who's actually pretty good at it, but they're having him on, and he's like, Seth Rollins legacy is on the line this No, it's not Andrew, this is fake. This is not there's no fucking legacy Like No one's planting a See you in a garden.

Okay. I gave you the nod. It's bad for everybody. That's my point. It's not good for you because you guys see right through it.

It's not catering to you. And it annoys the shit out of me because I just want to hear Brian Windhorse for five minutes about the Lamella ball trade. And we got to go over to Saudi Arabia because would CM Punk be over there if I'm remembering correctly? Yeah. Some of the like.

WWE is one of those things where if you don't like it More exposure will not help. Correct. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

More exposure makes you hate it more. Yeah. It's not like, oh, I wasn't into wrestling, but then this Brock Lesnar legacy discussion on first take really piqued my curiosity. Yep. No, it's like, get back to talking about the fucking Jets.

Or the electromagnetic grid taking out every Niners wide receiver. Which is a real thing. I'm not sure.

Sorry. Any other brewers? Thoughts. I think May will help. I just, I'm not as excited about it as I would be because.

I'm comparing it to what they almost had, should have had, probably had. And it's funny because if they had given up the package that's been reported for Schoolbull, I might think it's an overpay. I might not have even wanted them to do it. The problem is, is. The Brewers wanted to do it, and the Tigers said no.

So now I'm upset about it. You know what I mean? Yep. I'm excited for Dustin May. I do think he looks a little like Jesse Plemons, so I made this tweet.

What kind of brewer are you? Yeah. He does look a little bit like Jesse Plemens. A little. I mean, it's not that crazy, but.

Yeah. And when I say I made it, ChatGPT made it, which by the way, I do tinker with ChatGPT for images sometimes. Claude will not fucking do images. Oh really? Yeah, Claude's like a real dick about it too.

He's like, I can't do that. Those are real people. I don't know who whipped up this. Version of Sophie Cunningham that I keep seeing on my timeline today, but they did a good job with whatever image generation thing they used. Oh, Paul, when you drafted Ty Simpson in a league?

Yes. I was going to make the Simpsons font say Ty Simpson and send it to you. You should still do it. TPT said no copyright infringement. What?

Yeah, you can make fucking. Grock can make any chick in this fucking position, but you can't have the Simpsons look like Ty Simpson. Ty Simpson. Yeah. That's why you should use a different AI and not your chat GPT friend that told you you were having a Heart attack?

Panate? I don't remember.

Some someone one of those helped you through a situation. Yeah, that was regrettable. Yeah. All right. Um, I want to ask you a Packers topic.

Oh. Okay. You are prepared for the Packers' defense to stink until Micah Parsons comes back. Or mm-mm. Yeah, hit it hit it, Grand.

Uh mm-mm. Oh, okay. I don't know if they'll be amazing. This is a take that I'm I'm workshopping right now. I think I might do it tonight on my show.

I think Jonathan Gannon is really good. Like, I think he's. Here's what Jonathan Gannon is: he's a professional. But he didn't give a press conference for two months. That's a Packers problem.

He's a Aaron Nagler problem. He is. No, and it's also affects radio producers everywhere.

Okay. He's a professional. He has been a high-level defensive coordinator recently. You could not say that of Jeff Haffley. You could not say that of Joe Berry.

Joe Berry had at least done the job, but he hadn't done it at a high level and not recently. They needed a defensive coordinator.

So, what a novel idea. We didn't go hire the head coach of Boston College, we just hired a guy who. Was a really good defensive coordinator not that long ago in the NFL. Jeff Hafley, you want to know a fun fact about Jeff Hafley? He'd never been an actual defensive coordinator at any level.

He'd been an assistant, been a positional coach, been a head coach, never been to DC.

So now I hear Clemens. On our shows this week, coming on and talking about how Jonathan Gannon is really got the players excited because of this new three safety look they've been running. And why this is so great is because it allows them to get Xavier McKinney, Evan Williams, and Javon Bullard all on the field at the same time. What a novel idea. A specific package that allows you to play three of your best players instead of last couple of years when we're arguing, like, well, if you play Nate Hobbes, then Javon Bullard's on a bench because he's your smart corner.

I just think Jonathan Gannon knows what the fuck he's doing. And I know Jeff Hafley gave good press conferences, and I don't think he was a bozo, but I don't. Like, you just, you have a guy. You have a guy, and I think he's going to get the most out of his talent. with or without Micah Parsons, which is more than I can say for the last two guys.

I actually think Joe Berry did a better job getting the most out of his talent than Jeff Haffley. Joe Berry was playing Rudy Ford. You know what I mean? I think Jay Bradley is one of the top five most overrated Packer figures of my lifetime. Wow.

I think probably, yes. And that's not that negative. It's just people went so nuts over him.

Well, as did the Miami Dolphins. He's the. Hmm. Yeah. Good point, Paul.

As did the Miami Dolphins. Yeah. Did his phone die? I don't know. But you heard his question.

You can answer it. You're expecting, do you mind? Bart, you're expecting the Packers' defense to suck. Until Micah Parsons comes back. Mm-hmm.

Or mm-mm. Yeah Can I be Honest with you. Do you not care? Not at all. In what way?

I don't think I know. I've never quite figured out. I can Recap football.

Okay. I can't preview football. I think that's a radio thing. I don't know how to preview football. I think it's a radio thing.

I think that's what we do: we watch something, and then I can't wait to get on and talk about that. Yeah, I watch and I react. I'm reactionary as a radio host. Same. I can't.

And then whenever I do have like things I think will happen. It's just gut feeling. Or like I I can't I can't I don't know how this defense is. I barely even know who's fucking starting.

Well, in a lot of situations, I'm going to look at the depth chart to remind myself. There's a couple significant spots I would say that you're not really sure of yet. I mean D line, the D end, corner number two. I just feel like we've had the same defense since 2011 where It's not good.

Sometimes they turn into turnover factories, sometimes they're really bad at it. Um There's usually like A game at the beginning of the season where you're like, wow, the defense, we have a defense. Remember that? The 85 Bears, yep. We we have a defense.

Um And then we suck. We're never there in the playoffs. Like Rogers Rodgers was not as good in the postseason as he was in the regular season. on a whole but I mean, he also had a shit defense every fucking time he put up forty points. I don't know how to preview.

The Green Bay Packers. Like I put whenever the schedule comes out for training camp. I sit on my phone. And I put in the schedule of training camp on my calendar. Like, okay, 10 to, what were they, 10:30 to 12:30 maybe today?

Why? I don't know. It's force a habit because I used to do it. When we talk about every day, just so I knew if there was training camp or not.

Okay. And and I put it in there and I see like I see videos of things happening. First of all, Critiquing practice is stupid. Yeah, it's practice. They're doing, sometimes they do things intentionally to practice those situations.

And then, if Jordan Love overthrows a guy in practice. Or if Jordan Love makes the throw of the year, What am I supposed to feel about that? Also, I think If you live in Green Bay. And you go to training camp like... Oh, I'll check out training camp today.

I live in Green Bay. But if you like drive up from Milwaukee to go to training camp People spend days off on that. That's a waste of time. They like football. Yeah, I don't know if I like that take at all.

Oh, there goes one. I don't understand why you would. I don't get watching training camp. Like, this, this, this, uh, Now, the Friday night thing, you get to go to the stadium and experience that. That's a Lambo experience for a lesser price when it's warm outside.

It's a good reason to take the family or the kids to the fireworks. But every single year, I do the same thing. Every single year. I tape Family Night. I wake up Saturday, I start to watch it.

Within five minutes, I'm like, this fucking sucks. That's every preseason game I've ever turned on. That's not the Packers. I I do. Preseason.

Yes. I watch NFL Network the whole month of August. But my point is, any other team that's not the Packers playing in the preseason, I watch for two seconds and I'm out. But it's not even, they don't even, they just do drills now. And then and then they go, Okay, all right, here we go, guys.

Throwing it into a bucket. It's like the slam dunk contest of the fucking family night. I don't know. Are these complaints? Am I bitter?

I don't know. I just, training camp, I went once, I enjoyed it. But again, it's one of those things I will only do one time. Paul, Bart was answering your mm-hmm, but his answer was, I don't know, and I don't really care all that much, was kind of. I can't preview football.

I can only... Recap football. It was more of a it it's echoing for you too, right? Yeah, but it's not the end of the world.

Well, if it's echoing for you guys, it's gonna echo on the show. Yeah. We can do a half hour today. I don't want it to sound shitty. We try.

Hold on, hold on. We've been having echo problems, uh, Winklerverse. Is it echoing now? No. It's a pa it's a it is?

Yeah, now I hear myself myself.

Well then it's probably going to echo on my end. Hmm. I'm telling you, something, Paul, it's probably bad. Test. Oh, not anymore.

It's fine. Great. Oh, now I have Echo, but Jeez. How many times in a row have we done this? I was asking Bart.

We've been doing this every week for... Four years? Three years. At least we know last week shit starts echoing. At least now we know it's not just the comput like my computer.

I kinda liked it better when we just thought it was yours. I tell you what, I'll I'll jump off, you guys finish up, 'cause it doesn't seem to do it with two people.

Sorry. Do you have any more things to lob us or do we have to like talk our own? Yeah, sorry, that was my last one. That's okay. Yeah.

All right. I'll let you finesse this in uh in post, Tim. There's no thanks to Tim. There's no post. All right.

Bye, guys. Nice to see you, Paul. You too. Bye. I tried i upgraded my stream yard to add a second camera Okay.

And ever since I did that. It's all gone to shit. I'm getting echoes with you. The microphone that I use, this is not my ideal mic. The microphone I use won't work anymore.

Something fucking happened. Oh, then Opus clip, which I'm at, I have a setup with. They're like, hey, do a post for $250. I'm like, okay. Ghosted me?

Hmm. I'm just struggling out here, guys. I'm just trying. If you ever see me post something, you're like, why the fuck is he doing that? Uh it's for money.

Do I need to talk about COVID all week? No. Are you guys engaging the hell out of it? Yeah. And I do like my spin that I wear masks for fashion now.

People just, then I had one guy, I have a Bucks hat with a sticker under it. in my profile picture and he's like You fucking loser! Yeah. What the fuck? Why do people care?

I don't know. Do people think Joanna Mann is based on a true story? I don't know what that is. What is going? That's the movie where a guy dressed as a woman and played in the WNBA.

When did that come about? Late 90s, like when the WNBA first existed.

So it's like the ringer, but Yeah, women's basketball kind of. Have you talked to any WNBA? No. What is going on? What is going on?

This is The worst league. That's ever existed. I think the MLS should be the worst league. But WNBA takes the cake. Their first.

Champion I believe they won four the first four titles. The Houston Comets don't even exist anymore. And they they popped up in the 90s. Then you have teams that are like Trying to play off the NBA brand, but then also not.

Now the Cavs they have a team, but they're like, We're not the Cavs. And then and then The WNBA wants coverage and then they don't want coverage. Did you see Jesse Waters, my boy, on Fox? Basically, just pissed that he's got a comment. He's like, Why are we talking about this?

So, I'm letting you do most of the talking here, but. Yeah, well that's fine. My theory is Jesse Waters is in on the joke. He gives a lot of like bits and pieces that like, I know I'm a fucking fraud, but whatever. He gives a lot of that.

Hannity I brought him up before. He sucks. Mark Levin is the devil. I barely know who these people are. Hannity Hall.

Who's the one? Who's the one before that? Laura Ingraham? Fucking babe. Just kidding.

Ingraham Ingram? It would be Ingram. Laura Ingraham. Mm-hmm. All right, well we can wrap it up.

All right. What are you excited? What are you passionate for this weekend? This weekend? Yeah, what are you doing?

I have a wedding on French Island. You got a lot of weddings this year. It's every year. of my life. I don't think I've been to a wedding since I don't I don't know that I've been to a wedding since before COVID.

You're not 28. That's probably why. Oh yeah. What I'm just saying. People get so fucking offended when I tell them I have another wedding to go to.

They're like, another one? It's like, do you think I'm plan? I'm not the one fucking planning all of these weddings. Are they all like your friends or different groups? No, they're strangers.

They're complete, total strangers. That's not what I was asking. I know. They're friends. This one's a family friend, but.

College friends, high school friends. Where do you get married on French Island? Celebrations, which used to be something else. It's like the There used to be an arcade there. What?

Yeah, just look up celebration. Celebrations French Island. Mm-hmm. Celebrations on the river. Oh, okay.

He's on Fisherman's Road.

Somewhere around there. Hmm, all right. Um Grant, good to see you. Good to see you as well.

Sorry about the technical difficulties. Nothing, Tim Campbell. It's Paul's fault. He needs a new computer. It's Paul's fault.

Tailgate is on Thursday. I think I might just do like a Like a three-hour live stream. But then I'll I'll be mic'd up. I like that. I think that is that worth.

I mean whatever. If it sucks I'll just take it down. I think it's worth it. Yeah. Last year I did a 30 minute Show for it.

I don't think I want to do that 'cause I don't wanna I don't want to, because there were people that win last year, I didn't even, or not last year, whenever it was. that I didn't even talk to. What the fuck's the point then? That was two summers ago, right? Yeah.

It's hot, it's hot. It's a good day, it's a good day. I don't think it's gonna rain tomorrow, maybe in the morning. Mm-hmm. Be well.

For you as well. For Paul Emig, for Grant Bills, for all of you. Thanks for stopping into the Winklerverse. Um, I'm actually not gonna quit Just yet. There's one other thing I wanted to bring up.

This is probably a good place for it. Because you can bail if need be at the end of an episode. I want to talk about the new MLS commissioner.

Okay. I'll give you a second to turn this off. Go ahead. Uh just close Spotify or Close the tab. I want to talk about the new MLS Commissioner.

I don't like, this is only their third commissioner. It was Who was the first one? Doug. Doug. No, it wasn't Doug Jones.

That was the guy who ran. Who was the first guy? It was Doug. It was Doug something. Because then Garber took over in 19 Doug Logan Doug Logan He was only the commissioner for like five years and then Garber, who was an NFL guy for a long time.

He took over Don Garber. I don't. Don Garber's got the MLS to 30 teams, and he expanded, and there's been some pro, some con. I think the Apple TV deal sucks. Pretty bad.

I mean, it's great if you have it, but You know, it's not like it's on Netflix. I just think U.S.

soccer straying away from what soccer should be.

Soccer should be grassroots, soccer should be clubs, soccer should have promotion relegation. That's what soccer should have. In Garber, it's a closed system. I don't know how they make money other than expansion fees. That's why I always call it a pyramid scheme.

But now they have a new commissioner. And this is a guy with like private equity background. His name is Larry Berg. He's a co owner of LAFC. Um some of the things he thinks Their current media deal with Apple ends in 2029.

He says he sees the future broadcast deal as uncapped upside. They need a new media deal. Certainly I think they should play some of these games. I think they should attach themselves to the Premier League. I think NBC used to have MLS.

They got to get back in the NBC game because. Watch a Premier League game go right into an MLS game at like 12.30 on a Saturday. Or some of these weekends where Premier Leagues take off. I mean. Have a weekend where MLS games are at 10 o'clock in the morning on a Saturday or Sunday.

We're used to watching soccer and weekend mornings. You know, you only have to do it one time. There's There's leagues that like NHL is playing games at 10:30 a bunch this, I think, on Mondays this year. Because they want to attract the European market? I don't think that's a bad idea to do on the weekends in soccer.

Yeah, I mean, if you're a soccer fan, you're going to soccer games.

So do a 10 o'clock game for DC United. I don't... I don't think that's bad. He does not support promotion relegation.

So already that sucks, but they were never going to put a commissioner in that did. They want I think one of the things he wants to do is he wants to kind of blow up the MLS. There's a lot of bad things about the MLS. One, quality of play. Two, can't find it on TV.

Three, no promotion relegation. Four, it's become a retirement league again. 5. The naming is horrible. DC United, Atlanta United, Minnesota United, what, what, what?

Real Salt Lake, Inter Miami. Nashville SC, Dallas F C. No, that's F C Dallas. Houston Dynamos, San Jose earthquakes, what?

Some T, there's like four different naming aspects to it. That's a mess. But the salary cap is all fucked up. You'll see like You'll see like Kansas City sporting K oh sporting KC trades Trades this player for $300,000 of GAM or TAM or some other three-letter acronym that just means what you can afford in the salary cap. I think the Oreos just traded a guy for international money pool.

Yeah, that's like every MLS trade ever. It's so stupid. They are changing their calendar. If you don't know, next spring is when the MLS normally starts. They're going to do like a.

Three-month sprint season, take the summer off and then readjust.

So the Premier League goes from April to May. And that's what MLS is going to do now, too. They're going to have to take a break. Because Like the winter, but it won't be that bad. I think they are in a better spot.

by going to that calendar.

So, new commissioner, I've hated Don Garber. He's been the commissioner for 27 fucking years. Being the commissioner of MLS is my actual dream job. It used to be being on Saturday Night Live, but I also. I was gonna move to Chicago once and try out for second city, and then uh I got scared.

It wasn't like I was packing my bags, I like had the idea. I always thought I would move to New York, too. And then I've only been there for six hours in my life. I gotta go back. All I did was a double-decker tour and the 9-11 memorial.

And we ate at a pizza joint. Oh, and I drove down Broadway. Basically, I've done New York. Basically, I've done New York. We are brought to you by Happy Place Hemp.

David in Buffalo had a few voicemails. I'll play this one. Here are David's not too early NFL predictions. Brought to you by Carl's Place. Leave a voicemail: 402-915-2278-402-915-BART.

Hey Bart, this is David from Buffalo. Let me finish off those NFL predictions. I'm not going to give you MVPs and all that shit in Rookie of the Year. I like just the team predictions. It's a team game.

Um, so I'm gonna go with the AFC Championship. The Bills over the Ravens, two first time uh head coaches meet 30 to 27 bills over the Ravens in the AMC Championship. NFC Championship. I am gonna go with Uh let's see. I'm gonna go with the Rams.

Um And uh Mm-hmm. I'll give you the Rams over Carolina in the NFC Championship. I think Carolina takes a huge step this year. I like the Rams that will win that game. And then the Bills will go play the Rams.

in the Super Bowl. And Miles Garrett will not be able to do what he tried to do against Scott Anne last year with the Browns. You will not be able to get to him. And the Bills will finally win it all. Joe Brady this year will show that he's an aggressive coach at times.

He's got a great defensive mind, and Jim Leonard is going to play a much more aggressive style. And I think they have a bunch of veterans they brought in Mark. On short-term deals, CJ Gardner-Johnson. Um, D. Alford, uh Ha ha ha ha ha.

I can't mute myself while I'm playing a voicemail, so. That's Thank you for those that said. Bless you. Um, you know, guys that are just players that You know, hey, it's a pretty cool opportunity. We're getting to play with Josh Allen.

We're getting to play with James Cook. We're getting to play with a team that's primed and ready to win it all. I think the Bills win the Super Bowl over the Rams. I'll go 35-31. Um, hey, these predictions could be way off, but hopefully, they're already a score prediction in August for the Super Bowl.

That's all I got for you. Um And and I just see, you know, I I see the two Super Bowl teams taking a step back. I don't see the Chiefs making the playoffs. Uh might see Campaign Bay taking us another step back. with just some uncertainty there.

And I just don't think Dodd Holes is a great head coach. Um, I think Mendoza looked pretty good this first year. Um But I don't think he's enough the Raiders need more around him. I think the forty niners are gonna struggle this year, man. I think they They have an older team.

This whole thing with Kyle Shanahan dude is super upsetting and weird man about the whole car accident thing. If anything, It proves that you shouldn't be on your phone when you're driving. If you are, you know, be careful, be hands-free with it. And there's something else I was gonna say, man. I I think two This time.

I think Rogers shows that he still has a little left attack with Pittsburgh. But it it'll be an exciting season. Oh, the other thing too is Kyler Murray needs improvement this year or he is going to be become a career backup. I'll see you later, man, and talk to you soon. All right.

Thank you for that. David, again, 402-915-2278. Far, well, a few weeks away from our NFL predictions, I am really excited for the Hall of Fame game.

Okay. I did go to that a few years ago, four years ago, Gary Ellerson and I went. to watch Leroy get inducted. And then we got back and were laid off the next Tuesday. It was our last hurrah.

My only NFL thought right now as someone who can't preview football, I'm not into the Rams. They've already done it.

So they don't have that drive. I know, you know, Donald's there. Or Garrett's there, Donald Michael back. I don't I don't know. Everyone's just Because that tra okay it's the Rams.

I don't think it's the Rams. If the Rams hadn't won a Super Bowl recently, maybe they do, but I don't think it's the Rams. I think I'm getting sick or it's allergies. My wife is sick, so it would be natural that I'm sick. But I think it's allergies.

Either way. I got one more sniff for you. Oh. Hmm. And I got a text.

All right, um, now. That is done. Hope I see you at the tailgate. If not, next year. But until then, thanks for stopping into the Winklerverse.
