The WNBA has been plagued by issues, including poorly run games and a lack of compelling discussions. The league's attempts to address transgender players have been met with controversy and criticism. Meanwhile, the MLS has its own set of problems, including a lack of identity and a tendency to rip off established teams. The conversation also touches on the world of sports, including the NFL, baseball, and the upcoming Super Bowl.

Welcome into the Winklerverse. I'm Bart Winkler. It is a Monday, which means it's a national perspective Monday. Alongside me, per usual, is Carlos with a K. Carlos Ortiz.

Carlos, ladies and gentlemen. Hi. What's up, buddy? Not much, man.

Well, I guess we would say we are early in terms of our usual time, but I'm also late by 20 minutes, so I can be early and late at the same time because you have to do this. At 11 local time, 12 my time, and I was playing video games and completely zoned out.

So I want everybody to know that you guys are always my number seven priority. I basically said, let's do this in 45 minutes, and then you just forgot that ever happened. Yep. Literally, like a golden retriever, like a shiny red ball was thrown in front of me, and I started playing with it. I'm having a hard time with my memory lately too.

Like I don't Remember a lot. And then I also I'm having a really hard time if it's Something that really happened to me, or if it was a dream. That's happened to me before, but not lately. Just yeah, my memory lately has been. pretty shot though.

Like I'll put on my glasses, then I start looking for my glasses in two minutes. Don't know where my keys are. I walk by this laptop. As I was fishing for it right now, three times, I'm like, where the hell did I put it? Oh, it's right on this chair, right where I put it yesterday.

So, yeah.

Well probably just dying. It's fine. You're you're dying, you think? Yeah, yeah. Slowly, but surely.

I thought I was. I had a really bad fear of death.

Now I kind of feel like. I don't know. I don't want to say I might have a little bit and then get hit by a fucking semi today. Yeah, yeah. Listen, I don't want to get struck by.

you know, a condor full of lightning, but My problems are over if I'm dead, so. Do with that information what you will, Lord. I'm in a, if you're on the Dan Shaney YouTube stream, I'm in a different basement. Today Um I am on the road. My son is uh turning seven.

And He's getting a lot of uh Wrestling theme presence. And then we're gonna cap off tonight with mu watching Monday Night Raw. Um And I don't have. I don't have all of my normal equipment.

So, for the microphone that I'm going to use today, I'm going to have to use this microphone toy of Monday Night Raw, which was also one of his gifts. He got another big wrestling ring. He's getting little, like, he's getting like CM Punk and Cody Rhodes for wrestlers, but he's also getting. Like Ricky Saints and Johnny Gargano. Like, he's getting.

Are those guys on sale? Ethan Page, like he's getting everybody.

So it's a really wrestling. I hope he likes wrestling for a long time because this is as wrestling-themed as a birthday as anybody's ever had. And I'm afraid that's the only wrestling job that I have, so I can't keep this bit going. I wanna fight you. How do I do this?

Check on two. They're supposed to be uh I want to f it's supposed to echo. I haven't quite figured this out. Cool. Check one, two, Carlos Ortiz, you bitch.

Sounds like a r regular old microphone to me. My kid had this microphone the other day and he goes, I wanna fight you right here, right now, you bitch. Ha ha ha ha. And then my wife's like, What? And he's like, that's what they say.

I'm going to use this raw mic unplugged for the rest of the time just because I'm comfortable with. a phallic object in my in my hand that I'm cupping. Oh I'm glad you said phallic and not f flaccid.

Well, that usually is the case too. What's going on in your neck of the woods? What is it? August. Sports month means for Carlos Ortiz?

Dude, it's literally just August might be the worst month. It's 31 days, there's five Mondays, there's no holidays, and you're just waiting for football. This is the home stretch of like you should be enjoying summer, but in the sports world, you're like, fuck you. Just get me to college football. I'll take week zero in Dublin, Ireland at this point.

Like, I need something. Give me TCU in the background at like, you know, 1:30 in the afternoon. Not that I actually. Give a crap about that game whatsoever, but you. I want to see the horn frogs light up Bill Belichick.

So, you know, just give me something. Already. I'm tired of pre- I'm tired of training camp. I'm tired of like... Contracts and injury news and all that shit.

Just give me real tangible football right now because baseball just isn't doing it for me. Until the postseason. Right now it's just Do you just well your your cubs are hot and everyone's all of a sudden on the PCA MVP train? I mean, he is having a great season uh and he is uh one of baseball's young promising stars, but it's still the Cubs. Like, I I don't know if their rotation uh got better overnight because, you know.

You know, Clay Holmes got smacked around by Kansas City in his debut. And, you know, you still have dudes that are hurt and on an injured list. Justin Steele is not going to be a starter for the rest of the year. If he ever comes back, they'll probably put him out of the bullpen.

So. The Cubs don't have enough, but you know, it doesn't matter. These are all empty words anyway. The Dodgers are gonna win a World Series. Who cares?

Yeah, they're going to have a five-man rotation of Shohei and Snell and Yamamoto and Glasnow and Scoobel. Yeah. And Ed Sheeran, who started the year in the rotation, is now. Sheehan, I see Ren. Sheehan.

I believe you said Ed Sheeran. I thought I said she ran. Thinking there is an R in there, but it is Sheehan. He's now going to be in AAA and watch him get his value up. And in the offseason, he'll get traded for, I don't know, Juan Soto, like, because that's what the Dodgers seem to do, because apparently they have the greatest farm system in the world.

So, not only are they going to win for the next five years, they'll win for the next 20.

Well, if this August is slow, um Think about next August when there may not be any baseball. Yeah, and who knows what the WNBA is going to be looking like if you see all these players that are. declaring for the draft as I walk you into this bear trap.

So did Are you guys how much Chomp, here comes the wires, chomp.

Well, I've been tweeting about it. Yeah, how much is uh it is fucking stupid. How m how much do they talk about it on the Westwood? I'd be lying if I said I knew. I can tell you personally from the shows that I did.

Well, I only did Saturday, I was not on yesterday. Um didn't talk about it one lick. Not one iota of a second was wasted on not want to say wasted but but talked about uh you know race white and Enos cancer slash freedom They're claring for the WNBA draft. I'm pretty, I'm not sure that there's a directive to stay away from it. But like I don't think anybody's talking about it.

Well I keep, I'm probably gonna do this forever. I'm probably gonna be like. You know, 'cause I had a national show, or we did. Not for the longest amount of time, but It was definitely there for a good time, not a long time. But I do think, like, how would I cover this?

And of course, I would have brought this up. Yeah, you have to. I mean, I think it's responsible to. I think there's a, like. What I'm interested in is what I've always been interested in with the WNBA.

And we talked about this going back to when Caitlin Clark was coming out. um of college is how is the WNBA gonna fucking waste this? Mm-hmm. Because they are. Yeah, and well I and I and I compare it to the MLS a lot 'cause You know, you get Lionel Messi to come over right after he wins a World Cup, and then you go hide on Apple TV Plus.

And then you're like, then you're at a league that's like, hey, Soccer in America, we'll take it from here. And then you have this weird exhibition tournament with the teams from Mexico. Yes, which I completely forgot was one of the games I think was yesterday, and I never went. Because I'm not going to New Jersey on a 90-degree Sunday to watch. Yeah, so New York City FC, which normally plays at Yankee Stadium or City Field, for these games, they're playing at the Red Bull Arena.

Yeah, which is in Harrison. Imagine New Jersey. I am not going over, paying the tunnel and Easy Pass and all that shit to go see a team that I don't know. In the Mexican team to win this leagues cup, whatever that is. And if you're not familiar with Carlos, he isn't really into soccer, but he does have NYC FC season tickets.

That's right. I have four jerseys, including one pre-match jersey.

So I'm locked in on my team. And by what I mean locked in, I mean, I enjoy the games while I'm there and then completely forget about it the second I leave. How are they doing, by the way, in the standings? I think they're like fifth. in the in their division or conference.

Oh yeah, they would be a playoff team. Yeah. Um they're not they're not bad. Uh but they're not great either 'cause I I think I think whoever's in the top team whoever's a top team is, I think, has like is like far and away, like In points. I mean, I just pull it up because you know what?

Now I'm interested. I have for those keeping score, I am a Timbers fan. They play in Minnesota, right? They're Portland Timbers. Portland.

Damn me. All right. All right. Well, it's not as bad as I thought. Yeah.

NYC FC lost to Cruz Azul yesterday 2-1. Oh, well, oh, that's a shame. Uh, so the Nashville Whatever team, 40 points. They're first in the Eastern Conference. Intern Miami is right behind them, 38 points.

New England, I think they're called the Revolution. They're at 30 points at third place. The Chicago Fire, who we beat. a couple of uh weeks ago They're fourth and 29th points. Then, my beloved NYCFC, I don't know why I said my beloved.

We're tied with Cincinnati, who we beat the other day. 26 points. Charlotte, New York Red Bulls, and a DC United would round out your top nine slash playoff teams, slash playoff qualifiers. And the Western Conference, sometimes we're just going to go down this road. No, no, no, stop.

Vancouver's at one. LAFC is at two. San Jose, three. Houston Dynamos at four. Yeah, I know August is bad.

It's not Reed MLS Style. The Snicks St. Louis is at seven. Your beloved Portland Timbers with 24 points at eight, and the Seattle Sounders at 24.

So Minnesota is right there too. The Minnesota not Timbers, they're right there also with 24 points. Shut the fuck up. Sporting Casey has no chance uh in order to make it. What Winklerverse merch do you want me to send you?

You want a hat? Let me actually get back into the stream yard because I'm stuck on the MLS standings. Do you want a tank top? I think I do want a tank top. Did we have this conversation before?

Oh yeah.

Well, I saw some people some people were rocking the tank tops at the uh tailgate. Did you see any pictures from my tailgate or the video? I did. Yeah, it looked like he had a nice little turnout. I wish I was uh I was able to make it, but uh you know, with my uh my employment status and income the way that it is, there's no way I was affording a $400 ticket to Milwaukee.

If I'm gonna go to Milwaukee, I mean, even half that price is, uh is a bit of a luxury. Uh, because it's Milwaukee, but um, no, it looked like uh you had a decent amount of people. I saw a lot of into the Wiglerverse merch and flags.

So I was actually very happy. uh for you and hopefully Next year, or whenever it is, next time to do it. Yeah, I was very clear that people would be like, You got to do this again next year. And I would like to. Unless you want to do this at the Milwaukee Milkmen game.

Which is the independent team here. It's gonna be bad, dude. It is gonna be bad. But we already have in August. That's slow with baseball.

And I'm in, you know, I'm. I'm watching more. This was a pretty decent summer because we had the World Cup. This microphone is just for show, but I'm still going to use it. Um Because we had the World Cup and now we have August.

The brewers are on a west coast. Run here.

So they're in San Diego, late games, then they're in Los Angeles. Oh, Packers had a game Thursday against the Steelers. Can't wait for that. West Tampa. Yeah, Aaron Rodgers is doing a call with the Packers media on Wednesday, I believe.

How about that? I was like, hey guys, good to see you. Yes, yep. Yeah, everyone's pretty fucking yoked for that. With the Capital One Saver Card, you'll earn unlimited 3% cash back on dining, entertainment, and at grocery stores.

And for a limited time, new card members can earn a $250 cash bonus after spending $500 on purchases within the first three months.

So grab a bite, grab a seat, and earn unlimited 3% cash back with the saver card. Capital One, what's in your wallet? Terms apply. See capital1.com slash saver for details. Um I'm pretty excited for that.

But otherwise Yeah, pretty slow around these parts.

Okay, we are brought to you by Happy Place Hemp. 25% off each and every order at happyplacehemp.com. You know, they're trying to take away the THC Seltzers. Don't let them do it. Don't let him do that.

Ah, Barty needs him. Barty, need, need, needy, needy.

So Talk to your local representative. As if they give a fuck about you. They don't but they'll they'll land you an ear. 'Cause they want you to buy more stuff. Do I have a black eye?

Do I? Yeah. Yeah, no, it looks like you have a little mark under your That would be your right eye. Oh, those are like freckles. Oh.

Possibly a birthmark. Come along board. I'm not sure if I have a birthmark. If I do, I might have one on my penis. Jeez.

I'm not sure. If it's a birthmark or not. I have something there that I don't think everyone has. That's all flap. It's Like a little bit.

Just the little thing. It's nothing. You wanna see it? I don't come with the bull jump. Yeah.

We'll do that for subscribers if you're in the donation club. Um God, please, no! No! I'll sh I'll show you my wean. I'll show you my wean.

Speaking of showing my wean, the WNBA.

Okay. Yeah, yeah. Uh Oh man, that's great.

So what is what is here's here's how I would talk about it. Here's how I would talk about it. First of all, What Royce White and Enos Cantor are doing is It'd be funny. If it wasn't so pathetic. Yeah.

Like, it's a troll job. Those two assholes. Yeah, it's a troll job. It's a troll job. But For it to be more effective, I do think it needs to be.

Not Royce White and Enos Cantor. Correct. Like If somebody really wanted to challenge What are we even challenging? No one that they're worried about has ever played in the WNBA. And that I I think people think Joanna Mann was a real Movie.

WNBA, where I would take this and I'd dance around the like. Lib dog whistles that I always give. But where I would talk about this is This league is a fucking joke. Yeah. Yeah, how Kathy, how what the hell?

Inglerbert, whatever her hell the name is, how she's still commissioners, absolutely. Ridonous. But it's always been a joke. Yes. Like, it's always been.

And and I I will connect it to the MLS a lot. Because I think they they were form formed around the same time. And that league's always been a joke too. The joke about the MLS is They're trying to like, they have no identity when they start, so they're trying to make an identity. And what I mean by that is they're calling teams DC United.

Because of Manchester United. They're calling teams Real Salt Lake because of Real Madrid, which doesn't make any sense. Inter Miami. Because of inter Milan.

So they have no identity. And they're trying to rip off the identity you already know.

So when the WNBA comes out, That's essentially what they're doing. The LA Sparks look the exact same as the Lakers with their colors. Uh the rockets, the Houston comets, look the exact same. And a lot of these different uh cases. The Minnesota Lynx.

You know? Um And teams are getting a little more from that. The Cavs They have a WNBA team there now, but they're not using the same sort of whatever there was the connecticut soul for a while that Played in a casino without a WNBA team, but for the most part. The WNBA teams have been named off the NBA teams.

Now, the Houston Commons, who I mentioned, won the first four titles and then fucking folded or moved. I can't keep up. Then they just, yeah, they just disappeared. And the biggest problem that I've had with the WNBA is They seem to, and this goes to women's college basketball as well. Because we've experienced this with Don Staley being mad at CBS Sports Radio and making us change our name to the Infinity Sports Network.

Mm-hmm. Because she was tagging, she didn't like something that was said on the network.

So she tagged at CBS Sports, which was just lending their name to us. We were not part of CBS, it was very weird. But after Don Staley had a tweet, CBS was like, alright, you're done with our name. Fuck you, basically. Which wasn't even a crazy thing for her to get mad at.

It was. No, a big Brazilian, which is true. She's a big Brazilian. Yeah, a woman got described in a way she thought was offensive, but it was just using characteristics that would she possessed. Yes.

I mean, I don't know what's going on. Interesting. Yeah. Uh so whatever.

So they've already had that kind of problem. And then, like, I always bring up the Baylor coach. Because Baylor's program was making final fours. And then for like two years they did it. And a reporter asked her, What do you mean, or what do you attribute to your team's recent lack of success?

And she's like, lack of success. Here's all the things we've done. How dare you ask that question? But In the last few years, you haven't done those things you've just been mentioning. You're getting asked a real question about reaching a certain point in the season and then not reaching that anymore, and you can't handle that.

They have all these people that want to cover the WNBA. People want to cover the WNBA. In a real way.

Sophie Cunningham says, Let's get back to basketball. People are trying to. But then if they get a little critical, even if it's a basketball question. People in the WNBA would be like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, you can't ask that.

Well, yes, we can. All we're doing is we're critiquing your actual play.

So they were already mad about that. Then you have the WNBA be like this shiny object for everybody that hates everything. It's a women's run league. Yeah. There's More than there's like every race is in it.

Now we might have a We might have somebody who's transitioned. But we're there's not even the threat of that There's not anyone who's like actually born a man. Become a woman. That's Trying to play in the WNBA. There's one person in French Division II, I think, who said, Yeah, I would love to.

But she's not good enough. or whatever. There's no real threat to this. This is a made up threat. And now all of a sudden, Royce Week is spending more time on Fox News than JD Vance or Donald Trump.

Royce White. And now he's wearing a wig. Yeah. Like from a troll perspective. From a troll perspective, I would like to.

Tip my hat. But it's There there is even in a troll line, there's a line between You're making your point, or you are looking worse than the situation. You are coming off pathetic. And I think that both of these guys are coming off. Very pathetic.

And and now you have people. That have never given a shit about Royce White in their life. All of a sudden, like loving this guy. Yeah, Royce White jerseys are going through the roof in terms of sales.

Well, Bart, why would you talk about you're going to alienate half your audience? One, the number's not half. Two, again, not my audience. You know where I stand. Three.

The people that are found like The people that are following Royce White. They're so desperate to have these heroes. The amount of for Harrison Butker to be a top 10 jersey seller in the NFL. Is Pathetic. Yeah.

There's so many people who are really struggling. and complaining about groceries and food prices and energy prices. Yet Dropping $89.99 on a Harrison Butker 7 jersey. doesn't require a second thought. Yeah.

Anyway, thank you for the soapbox. No, you're very welcome. And Sophie Cunningham, by the way, number two in Jersey sales. In the WNBA.

Well Luck. I'm Team Sophie Cunningham. I am too. But for different reasons. Right.

Vermont. Yeah. are still uh happening. I'm still Team Sophie. Yeah.

Yeah. Although she played on her high school football team full of boys.

So where does what what the fuck? I mean, does she need to declare for the NFL draft so people can have some qualms with that? Like. Why hasn't she tried out for Kicker?

So Edith Cantor signed this thing and Royce White, what happens when you don't get drafted?

Well, I mean, are are isn't the WNBA trying to put the kibosh in that now? Like, I think the commissioner just went out and said, Hey, we're gonna go ahead and uh meet and establish what the criteria is for identifying as a woman anyway. Like, I believe the WNBA is gonna nip this in the bud, but... How do you do that? I don't think they're strong enough to.

I don't think they know how. And again, I don't even know how either. Correct. What I'm trying to talk about is the WNBA from a sporting perspective, as in this is the most poorly run league that we've ever seen. Because at at the same time, they want to be niche.

They also don't want to acquiesce to anybody else coming in. They don't want to acquiesce to you. They want you to come in and follow their lead. They don't want questions that are tough. They don't want interviews that are hard.

They don't want to be challenged with things they're not prepared for. And yet, now this thing is happening. And now they're going to...

Now they're gonna be like, okay, we gotta don't deal with these people. Don't deal with Royce White. Don't deal with Enos Cantor. Don't deal with the people on Fox News that are already tired of talking about it. Because as soon as they get you to change whatever it is they want you to change, they will never think about you again.

You're not gonna, you're not gonna, in the WNBA code of conduct, define what a woman is and all of a sudden get. 5,000 more fans per game. No, they're going to find new reasons to shit on you and hate you until you go away.

So, if you're a league that's already having a hard time picking your battles, this is not the one to pick and choose. You ignore this, you let the players talk. You let you let the players say whatever they want. If Sophie Cunningham wants to talk and take pictures after with people, she can. If a coach wants to wear something on a shirt, go ahead.

Let them express themselves. But you as a league need to just ignore it. That's what I think. Unless one of your teams drafts Enos Cancer number one and Royce White over two, then you can't.

Well, yeah, now I almost wanna see like What would happen? Would Royce White actually play? Let's just let it happen. Yeah, maybe he can finally get, you know. A a career average.

And the other thing is, like... No one likes talking about this and no one likes listening. I'm sorry I spent this much time on the WN. And no one's good at talking about it, too. That's one another thing.

Like, we're not having compelling discussions about it. Everything is a fucking troll job. Right. The d and when it when have you talked about The duck like Caitlin Clark. comes of the WNBA.

There's all these people we know. We watch in college. Why are 20 million people watching the women's Final Four and then 0 million people watching the WNBA? Mm-hmm. It's like When you watch the World Cup Okay.

I worry because that's the highest level of soccer you're going to see.

So then the next thing you watch because of that excitement. is inevitably gonna suck, especially if you stay stateside. and watch Major League Soccer. But women's college basketball. Women's college basketball brings us in for whatever reason.

Maybe it's the time of the year, it's March, the men's tournament's going on, we have state school pride, whatever it is. 20 million people are watching this shit. And then there is a better brand of basketball pleat being played after this, but then nobody goes and watches that. I don't know if it's a summer thing. I don't know if it's just there's too much extra shit going on.

It's just a very, this WNBA thing is so weird. And not just. people talking about transgender, transgender for everybody.

Okay. It's people like it's just the existence of this league has never It's never been well executed. Yeah. Yeah, I I and I don't know what I don't know what the answer is. I wish I had a more compelling argument than, you know, throwing my hands up, but.

Is it something as simple as Harry? Let's just have the WNBA play the same, you know. Schedule is the NBA, so they're not on opposite seasons? Like, I I don't know. I don't know either.

It's really just a shitty league. Run shit leave. Yeah, the New York Liberty won a title here. I think, you know. But before the Knicks, they were the last team to win a championship for New York City, and I don't think many people cared.

I don't think many people knew. That they won? Yeah. Like again, I lived here throughout it. You know, again, you could not go down the block without...

Hearing or something, seeing something Knicks related, like the Knicks took over this summer, people are still celebrating. When the Liberty was going through this run, I don't think people knew. They were even in the finals, let alone want it. All right, Tim, we probably talked too much about WNBA. You can edit that in post.

If if you would like. Thanks again to everybody who made it to the tailgate. Dan Shaney was there, and Carl from Carl's place was there.

So got to hang out with those guys. Were they happy with the quality of content and streaming that we're doing? Yeah, I think so. I mean Did they talk about me? That's all I'm saying.

I think they have low expectations. Yeah. Are they happy with their Monday shows? I don't care about. Guidance.

I want to be better. No one at the tailgate asks where Carlos is. Good. All right. Well that's Makes me.

Really upset. When are we gonna hang out again? Actually, uh, it's funny. I am going at least my plan is as long as my knee can hold up and I don't get any more injuries, I will be going to Chicago in February for a high rocks. I'm gonna attempt to do a solo race.

So if I don't die. Um I I I would say uh let's do something around that time, prob preferably after the race. We might Not this year probably, but we've been thinking of a family New York winter trip. No kidding.

Well, I'll be here. Yeah, we wanna be the people that see the fucking tree. Listen, I'm not going to shit on a tree. I really am not. I see the tree every year, and I walk by it, and I'm like, oh, that's cool, you know.

Free. And I think you should. I just want to see it because it was featured in the show Hawkeye. Indeed, it was also the big part of Home Alone 2, the climax, if you will. Which RIP to the pigeon lady.

She died yesterday. Oh, no kidding. I didn't know she was still with us. Um. I think it would be a good core childhood memory for the young'un.

Um so I I wouldn't knock you. Um maybe I'd even join you. And be like, look. Here's the tree. I am your guide.

Look at. You look at the balls on the ornaments and stuff like that. And I would give you guys useless facts. And you could like lie to your wife and kid that you hired me to like guide you. I am a personal person.

Concierge as well. Not even a t a tour gun, I'm a personal concierge. And I would get you through one of those like pizza spots that's like off menu and people don't really know about you know like the Michaels would have. There's a great Sabaros right there on 45th. A lot of people are not hip to that one.

I g yeah, I I got you. We want to go to Tax Square. We want to go to the ball drop. All the places I'd like to avoid. We want to go to the Thanksgiving Day parade.

I don't think actually I don't think I've ever been to Thanksgiving break. We wanna go to Avengers Tower. It's not a real place. It's not a real place. It's unfortunate.

I would love to go see a building with an A on it, but. It's not real. You want to go to the second New York early scenes that were shot for Spider-Man? We're in New York. I know they were in Glasgow.

Yeah. That's because you can't shut down the streets in New York. No. No, they don't let you do anything. Unless you're law and order, and you can literally shoot somebody in the face and then, you know.

Solve a crime for an hour. Yeah, so how do they film in the streets all the time? I don't know. Their grandfather did. Also I'm sure they're shooting their scenes very quick.

It's grand opening, grand closing. All right, well, what happened? Did I bitch to you about this? Like, the Marvel New York street scenes don't do it for me anymore. Yeah.

Because you can just tell it's a set. Yeah, so it's the same set they use for Deadpool. It's weird because Especially, like, I live in New York, so I know what it's supposed to look like.

So, Punisher, one last kill. was very off-putting for me. Like, it looked like it should have been a neighborhood in Queens because, like, I know more or less where they shot it. But like There's no projects across the street from the train station on Myrtle. Like, it was very, very weird.

And I'm like, I know this is supposed to be New York. But it's not.

So like, I think they should just. I don't know, do away with it or actually use New York. Or get out of New York. Not everything needs to be in New York. Yeah.

If you, when did you move to New York, like 02, 01? I literally moved here two weeks before 9-11, and we literally almost moved back because of that. That is fucked up. Dude, 9-11. It's crazy how the universe is always like, you know, trying to fuck with you.

When I registered for high school the time on my transcript or whatever my registration shit it was was literally when that first plane hit the tower. And my sister and I saw the second plane. Because where we lived in Queens is like closest proximity to Manhattan, where you can see the skyline over certain parts of Queens, like if you got high enough.

So we saw that plane, we're like, why the fuck is that thing so low? And as soon as I walk into the house, A news is on. I'm like Holy shit. And my mom was like, Pack up, we're leaving and that we we just wound up not doing it, but Two weeks after I got here, it was 9-11. I thought it was my fault for a second.

I'm like, what the hell is going on? Did you Like, did you think you were all gonna die? Yes. We thought we were under attack. 'Cause like I was afraid in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin when this was happening.

I was like, oh no, are they coming after our high school next? Yeah, I mean. Just It's the tallest building in this world. You almost forget that it's real something like how long ago it was, but like I remember, I hate using this expression: like, oh, you know where you were when such and such happened. Like, no, this is the one event in history that I know exactly where I was, what I was doing, what I was wearing, everything.

Remember everything about 9-11.

So let me put you into the MCU. Because in the MCU, I believe 9-11 did occur. Really? Did they allude to that?

Well, Tony was doing all this stuff in Afghanistan. They were at war. Oh, that's right. Yes, yes. And the Jericho missiles.

Oh. And they never show the buildings. It'd be weird if they just kept showing the buildings. Seriously. Top of the world or whatever the fuck.

Um So you didn't leave to that.

So 2020. or 2012, let's say You live in New York now for 11 years. Shitari aliens attack you. Yeah. There's a guy named Iron Man that drives a nuke into a portal in the sky.

Um Do you move after that? I mean I think at that point, I'm kind of fully entrenched. And the fact that I live in New York, but also like. All that shit is happening in Manhattan, or the city, as us locals like to call it. Um, so no, I actually don't think I leave quite yet.

I think If we fast forward from 2012. To uh What's the year supposed to be? 2027? Because I think they're in 2028 right now. They're in 2028.

So I think I believe it's 2027 when the void happens. Yeah, the void happens and then uh you get mind controlled by Spider-Man character. Yeah. That costs. And you've been snap for five years.

Well, I mean, well, I don't know. I know I get snapped because there was a website going around. Did you survive the snap? And it took me three times for it to finally say yes, but the first two times I actually got snapped out of oblivion.

So I'm like, I know I'm getting snapped.

So I'm five years younger. That's cool. Um But I probably would have left after the void. I even even through Danos, I would have still stayed here, lived here. I would have got the fuck out once I saw everything go black, and Orgene Gray possessing me.

Oh, I just did it and it's it's did Thanos kill dot me? Oh, that would I thought it was did you survive the snap? You were spared by Thanos, it says. Yes. So you got two options.

You were spared by Thanos, which I was not. It took me three times in the north to get that message. Oh, then I refreshed it. You were slain by Thanos. Yes.

For the good of the universe. Yeah. Oh, okay. Do you want to talk any sports? I mean, haven't we?

So last August And August before that, we would have done our Tua days. Which was probably the most work you put into the show? It was literally the most work I would do a year.

So Carlos would book about We would aim for two Beat writers or TV people or whatever at night to talk about these different NFL teams. as we were a national show to cover and i did have quality guests Yeah, yeah, I mean. Um But that that that did help me So I did a hit the other day. And usually when they do hits, I'm thinking, all right, they want to talk something Milwaukee or Packers or But it was still like a national kind of hit. And they were asking me about my Dark Horse teams.

Mm-hmm. They were asking me about if Baker's gonna be more motivated because he doesn't have a contract extension. The things that I pull out of my ass. Yeah. On some of these interviews.

It's like Oh yeah, Baker, you know, um he's kind of always been uh An afterthought in his whole career, you know, Deshaun Watson and then playing scout team for the Panthers, as we all know. Um, you know, yeah, I think he's a little motivated in Tampa Bay, you know, to go from yeah, I just fucking said nothing. I said things anybody would have known. I do that every week. Yeah.

Um So it was pretty bad. But That's just like, I don't know what's going on. Yeah. Oh, there it is. I heard something.

Yeah, I'm trying to get this to work again. Target. Get some help. Speak a name into the microphone. My name is Is Bart Wayne Clark.

Why isn't this working? Do you like when you get it? Say that again. Yeah. Do you like when you get a toy that you're separated?

Try again. Shut the fuck up. Carlos Ortiz. Microphone. Carlos Ortiz.

Now is it gonna do anything or what? Oh no. A piece of shit. Yeah, I get a toy for my seven-year-old. He knows what the fuck to do.

Hopefully, Dan Shaney and Carl aren't listening to this segment. Mm. No, I think this is what they like. Me playing with kids dog.

So basically I don't have a lot of NFL thoughts. I mean, why why would you? I mean, do you care about Laramie Tonsil, you know, missing a significant portion of the season because of shoulder surgery? Like. I mean if you outside of the commanders like and and Commander France, who gives a fuck?

Like I don't think most people care. Oh, gay. Just get us to football. Right now, we're in this room. Just get us there.

Yeah, I all I know is that the Bills Stadium It's a fucking mess. Supposedly, suppo, you know, you know, uh, people will always find reasons to complain about stadiums. It's not like MetLife is any better. That place is dumb, but you know, they're gonna complain about it. I don't think the angles look that bad.

Like, the obstructions is, you know. Spend money. What do I do about this hair? This hair always looks like a booger. Pluck it.

I it does look like a booger on my screen as well. Just go get nap. Don't do it with your fingers. Make sure you get it. You imprecise.

Go get a tweezer. Burp. You don't get rid of it. But yeah, it does stand out. And now that you mention it, I can't stop looking at it.

I know. It's bothering me. How about this view? It's better. But I know it's there now.

I'll cover my mouth with the microphone. Oh, that's great. That actually is fantastic.

So I I just I don't know a lot of the Like No, the Bills Stadium's bad. There's a whole bunch of obstruction seats. The video board is a joke. It's it looks i I have bigger T V's at home. Like that's it's one thing for you to go up high in a section and there's like a little obstruction of a speaker.

But the stairs to go up to the next section are then right in front of where people are sitting. That's a mess.

So I know that. I know those other jerseys don't look good. Um,. The big story I think is everyone's just thinks the Rams Are gonna win the fucking Super Bowl. I mean At this point, does Aaron Donald, unretiring, like move the needle anymore?

Because I think people expect that he's going to be there.

So The Rams were a couple of plays away from beating the Seahawks, you know, and who knows what could have happened. I think the Seahawks winning the Super Bowl was basically all the ammunition that the Rams needed in order to say, oh, fuck these picks even more. and then just start making m mo moves left uh hand over fist. Um, it's hard to think that there's a team in the NFC that's going to be able to, you know, stop him. Uh, the AFC is a is a deeper conference.

Um But I don't know if, let's say, the Chiefs or the Ravens or, you know, the Broncos. Dude, a matchup will with the Rams. I think this is almost a, not quite. But it's almost a Dodgers NFL situation where the Rams have just clipped everything. I don't feel that way at all.

I feel like everyone. I feel like everyone I mean, they won a Super Bowl recently.

So they don't not deserve Praise Yeah, I think people are just, you know, like, wow, they have so many stars, but like. I also They have to have a lot of things go right and they need health. Like to be on their on their side because if Stafford goes down for any period of time, it's over for the Rams. It is absolutely over. Unless you th really think Ty Simpson was worth that first round pick.

I just don't think Stafford is who people think he is. No, he's that dude. he could he could he could sling it man it's not even not even his athletic ability it's his just his qb acumen man like he really he might be the best quarterback in the league Just like mentally. Mentally, like what he's able to do now.

Now that Brady's like gone and Rogers just absolutely physically can't. I don't know what it is. I just feel like. I don't like when everyone agrees on something that I didn't agree on. Yeah.

And everyone just agreed. Like, everyone agreed the Rams are going to win. Everyone agreed COVID was fake all of a sudden. Everyone agrees that It's not real. Never happened.

There are like three transgenders in all of sports. Why the fuck do we care? Yeah. And one of them was Juwana Man, because that was a documentary, not a movie. Boy, this hair is really pissing me out.

Honest I I can't unsee it now. It's not a booger. It's not a booger. It's just. I don't know.

Are those three whiskers longer than everything else? Like, it's not.

Well, it's harder to shave right under your nose. I do know that. I might just have to shave the whole beard. Not go crazy. I would just trim it low.

Make sure everything is even. Fuck. Do a 3.5. across the whole stash. Give it a low feed.

Here's my studio today Jeez. That would that basement would be $4,000 in New York. Yeah, this is like this basement is like A penthouse. It really is. Anyway, again.

$4,000 on deeds. Uh on the minimum. Did you get into the Hall of Fame over the weekend? No, uh, Terry doing a roast. Yeah, he was so he was talking shit about the Patriots, talk shit about Belichick.

Yeah, like apparently his speech went well, and it was in terms of like, oh my god, how funny it was, and all that stuff. But like, I also find it. strange that like To me, his best and more prolific years was obviously when he was winning championships with the Patriots. I know in football, you don't go in with a specific team. But it almost feels like Vinatari is like going in as a cult.

Like Carly Ursay Gordon was presenting them. Like he was wearing Jim Ursai's tie. Um and they'll look Just everything. It was all cults. It was cults love.

Like, he acknowledged the Patriots, but it's like he's going in as a cult. And I found that very, very weird. And is it just Do former players just Hate the Patriots, and they know something that we don't, other than Mike Vrabel banging Diana Rossini and Bobcraft getting rubbing tugs in Florida. Is there more to it that I know? Because it's strange that Vinotary just seemingly.

went in there and shit it on New England and like You're humped Indianapolis. He was there a little longer. He started playing in 1996. He was in the league for a long time.

So he was on the team that the Packers beat in the Super Bowl? I don't remember that. Yeah. Yeah. He kicked the Desmond Howard for his 99-yard touchdown.

I had no idea. Adam Vinoteri was in that Super Bowl, which, just like Antonio Brown was in the Super Bowl. He's a rookie. That I do play them in tonight. Adam Vendatari started playing football in 1996.

You know how many people are in my life currently? that were born after 1996. After. For me, a handful. For you, probably none.

Well no, cousin, never other than your child. Kids, every kid, people from kids' school.

Soccer. Podcast grant. Lot of people. 1996.

Solid year. Yeah, it's the year I first explored my body. Oh god. I was gonna come out. I was reading I was reading books for the Book It Club so I can go get a free personal pan pizza by Pizza Hut.

and they would give you the stickers. Man, 96 was a good year. Those are the days. Yeah, the Bulls went in their fourth championship. What do you got on the preseason outlook?

You going to a Giants game? Fuck no. I am um I am however Starting to make my um Starting to make my rounds on Ticketmaster and StubHub and whatever to see. What's up with those Giants opening night tickets against the Cowboys? It'll be Sunday night football.

So I gotta I gotta go ahead and secure some seats for that because I got a couple buddies that have already paid for it.

So they're gonna be going. They're like, yo, what's up, Gantelgate? I'm like, You know what? I should just finally make this official and go ahead and buy a ticket. You know, my unemployment runs out soon, so there's a little thing called money.

that I might not have in like three weeks.

So it's hi it's hard for me to justify buying a uh football ticket right now. But I really what are you gonna do? Yeah. There's nothing sacred on this stream. I did interview for a new job with ESPN New York.

That was on Friday. I think it went very well. Um it was with a recruiter, so you know You could think that it goes very well and never hear from him again, but supposedly the next step would I would be talking to the hiring team, which. Um could happen this week, it could happen next week, but Basically I feel like I should be getting a second interview, like, tomorrow. Um if I get that job, then uh then I will be spending money to my uh heart's content.

But until then... I basically got three weeks to live.

Well Spend those weeks with us. Carlos, always good to see you. Thanks for taking time out of your Monday to talk WNBA and MLS with me. Hey, Joza, thanks for the reminder. I did completely forget about this.

So what's next? Video games? I'm looking at a pile of laundry right now. It's not too big, but I did laundry over the weekend and. I really have nothing to do.

So I might just make my wife happy and clean the house a little bit. Why not? Probably gonna drop another hundred bucks on Funset Boulevard. The hell is that? Oh.

You spend a hundred bucks and then you come home with two stuffed animals and a bouncy ball. Oh, so it's like a Dave and Busters for Children type thing? Yeah, yeah. Okay. All right, well, that's not bad.

Yeah. A lot of fun. All right, until next time. Thank you for stopping. Into The Winkler verse.

This is an illusion. Uh
