Carlos, my longtime, I'll call you co-host. Of the Bart Winkler Show. How are you doing, buddy? Sure, didn't get paid like one. I'm doing great.
It is a beautiful, calm Monday morning. The air is breathable again. I'm looking at two biles of laundry that I'm going to make. Disappear after this, as well as this mangy hair that I can't wait to get a haircut. Everything appears to be everything.
What a great sports world to wake up to. Because obviously, the biggest sports story is Avengers Doomsday trailer dropped, which we will get into. What's up, Thunder? Good to see you. Before we were just broadcasting live as we are now on X.
And Facebook. And and YouTube. And I have some housekeeping to take care of in a second, but I said, Are you ready to rock? And you said, and/or roll. And that is from Simpsons.
Yes. That is the beginner. You might have to, this might be homework. For another time, I'm just trying to think of other Simpsons references I say the most. That nobody else gets.
Because I say, are you ready to rock and or roll? I think that might be my number one. I say that. How long have we known each other? And that's never come up.
Are you ready to like someone will say to me, Are you ready to rock? And I'll say, and/or roll. And/or roll. You just did that to me before. I would have to do some homework and think: like, what is the other ones I say the most?
I'd like to say there's a lemon behind that rock, but you do say that often. I just don't know where you would be able to drop it in special conversation. That lemon-shaped rock over there. Wait, there's a lemon behind that rock. I do like subtle references.
Like when I tried to tell a joke to my wife, I'm like, are you ready to laugh? Oh, be quiet, you awful man. Do you know what I think it is about The Simpsons that I love so much? Is everything Yeah, well, like take that example.
So they were looking for the lemon tree. And they couldn't find it. And Bart says, Bart says. We can't find anything except that lemon-shaped rock over there. And so you're the viewer and I'm the Levin.
Yes. And I'm like, oh, that's funny. Because it's actually a lemon. Probably a lemon. And he thinks it's a rock.
So that's funny. But then they say, Oh no, there's a lemon behind that rock.
So they. Whatever. You maybe have to be 11. But when you think you have the joke, And then there's another joke. After Robert says you'll have to speak up.
I'm wearing a towel. That's a good one. Yeah. Yeah. That's a good one.
That's a good one, Fishbulb.
So that's why I love Simpsons so much, is because it helped me discover. just a different level of of comedy. Come alongboard. Yeah, so and of course. My name is Bard, so.
Board? I'm gonna. Pay attention to that. A couple of housekeeping notes, I will say. The tailgate, August 6th.
You can sign up for tickets. It takes you to the website. The brewers have. maybe reserved 90 some tickets for us. Whoa, I know.
I don't think we're gonna need them all, but. We've got probably about 30. Already. Um and so sign up. We're going to be tailgating.
I'm going to go right bright and early, monitor lot. I'm still working on what I'm going to provide you. For food? No. Uh but Again, if you come expecting a half a brat.
and possibly a bun. You won't be disappointed. If you come expecting like Two brats and a potato salad. You will be disappointed. It's definitely B Y O B B, and that extra B is a typo.
Yeah. No money down? No. Money down. Yeah.
So that's coming up. The link is on Twitter. It's my pin tweet. Also I don't know if you saw this. I didn't show it to you yet.
Um I thought I had the link up here. I started a uh A merched site. She Yeah.
Now I haven't tried out any of the merch yet. And I'm going to be sharing this too. I shared it on Twitter and Facebook. But I just put together a few items, Carlos. You may like the tank top.
I do have guns that I'm trying to show off, especially since I only got about a month left before I go back into the fall season. Should I send you a tank tab? Not if I have to pay for it.
Well no, I'll buy you one. Oh yeah, then I'm then yeah, then I'm in. And then we refresh the logo a little bit. I really like these pants. It's got the logos and then my logo over there.
Obviously, a beanie, some mugs. Yeah, you're, it would not be right for you to have a merch store if you don't have a beanie.
So I got a beanie and I got a flat brim. And this trucker hat I like. A couple of flat brims.
So.
So basically, I made a merch store so that I can buy a bunch of merch. I'll probably lose my ass on this. Because I'm just gonna buy, I don't know, but hey. Yeah. Yeah, and we may be doing also Tailgate specific merch.
As like a super insider. Drop. Damn. Maybe I have to go. And we also have Um giveaways, raffle tickets.
One of the prizes will be this podcast worn. Milwaukee Pro Soccer Polo. Uh That I'm wearing right now. Signed by you. On the inside, so people don't have to see it.
I can uh Any whiskey versus alternates? I could work on something like that. That is a good idea. Yeah. Pop, he's already dead.
That's a good idea.
So, there's some of the housekeeping there. Thank you for. Indulging. The World Cup final has come and gone. It happened in your city.
Which I didn't remember until yesterday. Did you feel the buzz at least, or no? No, not for the final. I honestly, it's calmed down a lot. Ever since um I think the latest kind of blow to the city was France losing because there's a lot of French fans here.
And that means Mbappe was obviously going to be out.
Now, obviously, all of the messy D-riders were still locked in. But um Yeah, I didn't feel it in my part where I was at, but I'm sure the city has to be completely slammed. By the city, I mean Manhattan, of course.
Well, and I'll share this link. Anyway, for the store. But yeah, I think the final itself. was Interesting. I thought it was pretty good.
I did say England and France was going to be the people's championship. And that was, if you wanted goals and a lot and no defense. That was the game to lock into. I thought yesterday's final was pretty good though, for what it is. I mean, people complaining, like, oh, it was boring.
I'm like, oh, it was scintillating. Spain's defense was fucking stifling, allowing one goal the entire tournament.
Well, so that's a good juxtaposition because in the third place game, it was a 6-4 game. Yep. Or England beat France, which actually puts more pressure on the coach because it's like: if you know how to attack, why the fuck didn't you attack against Argentina?
So rarely is a coach ever. Won and made his loss look worse. But I think that's what happened there. I mean, if you were an NFL team and the Bills took third place in this third place game, that would piss you off. If you're capable of scoring a bunch of points, again, it's different because there's no stakes and they're playing more free.
And you know, it's different guys sometimes.
So it is a weird event. I don't know why we still have it. They do give out medals, so I guess in that case. I'm going to say, isn't there like money involved in that as well? Don't doesn't.
I think the third-place team gets $2 million more than fourth. You okay? But it is it is a weird Like a bronze medal game makes sense in the Olympics. Yeah. But I don't know.
It just doesn't feel the same with the World Cup, but it is a thing. It's another money thing. They're not going to get rid of it. It's weird. It's also weird that, like, you can win the golden boot.
Like Mbappe winning the golden boot because he scored in that game. Unless you're doing it. Like anything, there's Pros and cons, but That game. It was 6'4. And then the final was 1-0.
Spain the victor. And I think a lot of people, one misconception. About people in soccer is they say, see, If games were more like that. We would b be more into soccer. If we had six, four games, we would be more into soccer rather than these 1-0 games.
And I think that's incorrect. I think that's an incorrect take. My argument for it would be A one-nothing game provides the drama in the context. That a 6-4 game doesn't necessarily have because you're waiting for that moment. It's building.
You're waiting for that. Like when you watch a movie, it's not just final act, final act, final act, final act. It's one final act at the end. And you've built towards it.
So, I enjoy the beauty of a 0-0 game. I enjoy the beauty of a 1-0 game. And there's certainly a beauty of it because it was one team trying not to get scored on and another team doing everything they could. And when's there going to be a counter and when's there going to be a desperation shot? And I thought it was a first half was kind of, you know, but then the second half picked up, just like some of these other games, I think England.
Argentina was that way for a while. But anyway. Good, good, good final. The real evidence I have to why you wouldn't like a 6-4 game is nobody gives a shit about indoor soccer.
So if you want to see soccer that's 6'4, You need to go to watch indoor soccer. But you won't because you don't like it.
So don't Don't tell me that you think a 6-4 game is better than a 1-0 game. If you've never enjoyed 6-4 soccer, because that's available to you as much as you want.
So that's like I think it's a really good way to put it because, you know, watching that 1-0 game, again, you might think the first 75, 80 minutes was boring. But once Spain scored that goal, it felt like just a huge relief in order for them to get past that hump because Argentina, I think at that point, had no shots on goal, maybe one. But Spain finally broke through. But then you saw, you start to see the urgency and the fever from Argentina, like the last 20 minutes. You're almost expecting Argentina to score, and it makes it a brand new game.
So, you know, you get a lot of drama at the end. Like, I don't know why people would have had a problem with that. And I'm listening, let me just not sit here and say I'm Mr.
Soccer like Bart, because I'm not. You know, I parachute in from time to time on the big events. This is the most soccer I've ever watched, and I'm a season ticket holder for an MLS club. You don't get that in the MLS, like not near. Not looking at it.
All right, I will amend. I will amend. A 0-0 game in the World Cup is exciting. I went to an MLS game between the fire and the revolution that was 0-0. And it was the most dog.
Shit. event I've ever seen. It was just pathetic.
So that's the other problem. If you're looking to continue this. If you're like, I love soccer now. I want to continue to love it. There's other like the Euros are good and the The Cup of America But if if It's going to be a come down.
No matter where you go, it's going to be a come down. This was the pinnacle. And if you're watching, you know, LAFC against the LA Galaxy on a Friday night, like I tried to. You're going to be, I mean. It's a good sport.
MLS is a good sport to have on. while you're doing something. 'Cause then like the announcers will get excited and then you can you can look. Yeah, as I am actually accessing my tickets right now because I have no idea when's the next game I'm supposed to go to. Saturday, July 25th.
So actually this Saturday. I'll see the aforementioned Chicago fire. Uh, take on the NYCFC. Then you'll see Robert Lewandowski in his first game. I'll see if Matt Frees gets booed off the pitch for that blunder against Belgium.
So.
No, that that'll be interesting. The controversy with the MLS right now is they're trying to say we're not a retirement league. But then Lewandowski is from Poland and he's 37. And they brought him in to play a position that the guy who's leading the MLS in goals right now is 29. And now they just sold him off to, I think, a Mexican club for the old guy.
So they had the guy, but then they got the old guy.
So the retirement league rumors. And accusations aren't going to go away. Anytime Soon, Alex says MLS has a way better atmosphere than NBA and MLB games. That's calm down. I would say it depends on the club.
Seattle, Portland. Anything with User Miami, I I I'll vouch that's a good vibe. A Chicago Fire Games atmosphere is no bueno. The New England Revolution, no good. DC United.
And that's the other thing I hate about the MLS is one of their, they copy all these names. Like Real Madrid means royal This is the Kings team in Madrid. And then Salt Lake is Riel Salt Lake. Yeah, which is terrible. There's three teams that have united: DC, Minnesota, and Atlanta.
Then there's a bunch of FCs, and then there's a bunch of S C's. But there's also SC, so football club, and then some do soccer club. Then you have It's just a mess. It's just a jumbled up. Mass.
I wish I wish they could change it somehow, but Uh, they won't, but you have you have MLS season tickets, so Godspeed to you. Yeah, I'll be there Saturday night to uh hopefully uh get a victory against the Chicago fire. Do you think we have enough fans in New York? I could do an NYCFC tailgate on Saturday. I mean, it would be a small tailgate, but I think.
Me and you and your wife. No, there are people there. Like, I'll see regulars there. Oh, like, in my section, I see the same guys pretty much every home game.
So.
There's that. All right. There is a new soccer stadium being built right across the street from City Field. I think when that stadium opens up. You might see a bump in terms of like attendance and whatnot, because the neighborhood looks like it's starting to come up.
There hasn't been anything around there for years. And they finally demolished like half of the junk yards that were there.
So Who knows? MLS in New York City might be the thing to do in the next couple of years. This is Into the Winklerverse. I'm Bart Winkler, Carlos Ortiz alongside. It's our national perspective show where we give you the national perspective of things in sports.

Again. Let me know the quality of these items. I probably put the shop up a little too soon. But I also put the shop up four years too late. True.
So I think I did research. I believe in my partner, fourth wall.
So we'll see. Couple of local items first. Today is the five-year anniversary. of the Bucs winning the championship. Hmm.
Not one single person on this team. Is in that photo? Is still on the team.
So But we do like our summer league prospects, and we're getting excited for Bucs basketball. Caleb Williams looks fucking legit. Did I say Caleb Williams? Wilson. Yeah, Wilson.
I like that he was like, this is my shit, man. I want to play every game. That was cool. Yeah, play uh play regular season basketball now. The other local item is Jacob Mizarowski versus Freddy Peralta tonight.
Freddie Perltval, future brewer. Yeah. So Freddy Peralta If the brewers trade for him. That's fine. Yeah, I mean, that'd be great.
You'd trade them, you get some guys, you get your guy back. But Freddy Peralta. The reason I think the Brewers were comfortable in trading him is because they knew that this was coming. Yeah, they were like the Tampa Bay Rays of the National League. They're like, all right, we've got enough out of this guy.
Right. If the brewers get him back, it's not them trading for the Freddy Peralta that they traded away. It's them taking a low-risk flyer on a veteran like they just did with Lance McCullough.
Now, you come back and you might hope for some magic. And with Brandon Woodruff not being able to pitch the rest of the year and maybe forever. And Quinn Prewister probably never coming back either. Yeah, this would be a welcome addition. I just don't know what kind of Freddie Peralta we're going to get.
But at this point, I'd almost be surprised. Yeah. If they didn't get Freddy Peralta back. But then I don't know what, like, what's David Stern's.
Now one in return. Because You know, the way that these guys left, Counsel and Stearns, neither of them having the success they had here. Council at least. You get more built-in excuses with a manager. I think Oh, the players didn't play or whatever.
But when you're the GM. You brought those players here. And David Stern's whole thing was: I'm good with no money, see how I am with money. Yeah. And he's bad with money.
Yeah, he's bad with money and. His philosophy is just not working. He spent the entire offseason talking about run prevention. And the reason why they didn't want to bring back guys like Brenton Nimmo and Pete Alonzo is like, they're going to give up more runs than they save.
Well, they had no replacement at first base. They have a center fielder that can't stay healthy. It's like every single move that he made. Outside of like converting Clay Holmes from a reliever to a starter has failed. He's brought in guys that, uh, you know, that were career, like, I don't want to say journeymen, but they've been hurt like most of their career, like Jorge Polanco.
He was supposed to be the de facto first baseman. The guys played like 20 games.
So, like, Stearns is awful with money. I mean, it almost seems like Stern's success was because of the success of the organization in Milwaukee, not because of what he was doing himself. Because Milwaukee hasn't skipped a beat, they're division leaders again. And meanwhile, the Mets are the worst team that money can buy.
So.
I still think that he's going to survive his, at least his five-year contract. But I understand if, you know, l tons of fans wanting to run him out of town. Do you think the Mets are a psyop in some way? Like the Dodgers have all this money and they're doing good with it, but then the Mets have all this money and they're doing bad with it. And if we're going to try to talk salary cap, the Mets were a case of like, you don't need it because you still have to spend your money wisely.
No, but I still think you do need it because you have teams that don't spend money that are good, but you then refuse to make acquisitions. Like I look at the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Pittsburgh Pirates are a nice surprise this year. Ryan O'Hearn is having a career year. They have a bunch of young kids, like Conor Griffin that they called up, and they might have a pitching staff that could rival the Yankees when they're healthy.
Bubba Chandler, Jared Jones, coming back from injury. He's got high strikeout potential. Everybody knows Paul Skeens.
So like they have some arms. The Pirates do, but they need another bat. They need another bat and they need an underreliever. But with their owner, Bob Nutting. Do you have any like?
You know, do you have any hope that they're going to make acquisitions? No, because he's just going to say, hey, I'm losing money. I'm losing money. I don't have the money. The salary cap.
That's not really going to help baseball. I think there's two things that'll help baseball when it comes to money. And then, you know, obviously, neither the owners or players association is going to budge and sued. If you want to have any type of like salary cap, It needs to have a salary floor. You need to force teams like the Marlins, the Pirates, the Rockies.
They need to spend money. I'm not saying spend money on bums, but you can't just go on and be like, all right, I'm going to have one all-star because Major League Baseball forces me to have a representative. I'm going to save money every single position. No, you could, you know, be like the pirates, be aggressive. This is your, you have a small window, get in it, run on it.
So I think a salary floor would do more help for baseball. but also the deferred contracts. Like when you have a team like the Dodgers that have all the money in the world, they have private equity coming in. Yeah, they got to get rid of that. You got to get rid of that afterpay Klarna bullshit.
Like, there's no reason that Shohei Otani should be making $2 million a year. Shohei doing an extended deferred contract is worse than the Bucs paying Gary Trent Jr. more money than he should get. It's worse than the bulls signing Norman Paul. Yeah, did they?
Yeah, they have Norman Powell. They have Zach Collins also, who's never fucking healthy. When did they send Norman Powell? Uh, Code of Sword was a couple weeks ago. I'll double-check, but I'm almost sure he's there.
What the fuck have I been up to besides the World Cup? I've been up to the World Cup. Yep. He's 33 years old on the Bulls. When did they sign him?
It was a couple of weeks ago. Oh Jesus Christ. Yeah, they have they've honestly the Bulls have had such a perplexing offseason. Like their draft, I really like their signings. I'm like, what the fuck are you doing?
Zach Collins for two years, basically. You mean Zach Collins for two games? Speaking of Zach, how about this trade? The Oklahoma City Thunder are trading Lou Dort to the Hawks in a three-team deal. I wish I had a dort in a three-team deal.
Uh that sends three second round picks to OKC. Which is whatever, it's air. Ryan Nemhard goes to Atlanta, and number one pick Zachary Rishashay goes to the Mavs. This guy's a number one pick two years ago. He can't even headline a deal with Lou Dort.
Yeah, seriously. When Lou Dort is a headliner in the deal, that's nuts. I kind of like what the deal for Atlanta, I see what they're doing. But to dump Risha's shape so fast, like They don't think he can play. He never really even played.
They like never really started him. Yeah. Just let him up the bench. I that was one of those drafts where you're like, all right, somebody's going to have to go first because didn't Alex Sarr go second in the Wizards, like right after that? That was a draft that people were just like, oh, all right, whatever.
We'll take these people, but. There was nobody to get excited about. Yeah, well, Risha Shea went first, Sarr went second, and then Reed Shepard went third. Stefan Castle went fourth. Yeah, Castle, you know, if you redo the draft, Castle probably goes first.
Uh Yeah, it's a pretty tough draft. I don't think they've had an all-star in it yet. In two years on the verge. Bronnie James, when 55, he's fucked. What is LeBron announcing, by the way?
I said this over the weekend on Westwood One Sports. That's how Graham did us. I saw he's banning LeBron talk. I like that. I like that too.
But he won't have to ban it for long. My prediction slash.
Well, no prediction. It's tomorrow. I think he's giving the World Cup a one-day breather. Let's spin it through flowers. I think he's announcing tomorrow.
He wants all spotlight on him. He absolutely, this is absolutely World Cup. If this was not the World Cup year, LeBron would have already signed. He waited because he wants the attention on him. And listen, he's earned that right.
He still moves the needle. Fucking Adam Silver hasn't put out the schedule because he's waiting for LeBron.
So, you know, it's not like LeBron is, you know, completely ego hogging here. He's, he's getting, you know, gaslit.
So I think he does it tomorrow. And I think it's going to be Philadelphia. Do you think?
Well, let's say he goes to the Heat. Do you think a team with LeBron, Bam, Giannis, and if they get DeMar DeRose in? That's just a bunch. That's not going to work. Yeah, it's not a retirement home quite yet.
It's not Golden State. but it's close to it. It's a bunch of old dudes. I mean, and Bam out of IO, I'm sure he's okay, but he can't be your first or second option. If you want to have a championship team.
Wrapping up on the World Cup, this is a voicemail from Greg that I wanted to play for you. I heard him yesterday. Greg says, by the way, yay, Mr. Positive in the house, devastated about Messi, Arg, boom shakalaka, and everybody go for your dreams. I thought we agreed being Chakalaka was.
Not in the voicemail line 402-915-2278, 402-915-2278. Thanks to Carl's place. Listen to how long he holds this note. This is Greg. In Michigan, I played this the other day.
Did you mute my disgust? That's edited. Mr. Positive. How are you?
Yeah. Boom chocolate locker. Everybody go for your dreams. Messi sort of ran out of steam there in that World Cup final, didn't he? N I I really think just Spain put the clamps on him.
Yeah, and it happens. Listen, Messi's still, I don't think he hurts his legacy at all. Nobody showed up. There were no shots on a goal until fucking second half of stoppage time. I need to start betting on live soccer.
Because I know the game.
So when this happens. when the Bucs won the title. Don't Hold on. Don't for your Mr. Positive.
To accept, press one. To send a voicemail, press two. Greg. You are Greg, you're live again. I love it, I can tell.
Turn me down and talk to Carla. What? Hopefully, he doesn't hate me anymore. I don't know. He's got his head in his hands.
He's disgusting. Turn me down in the background.
Okay. Um Why? I'm everywhere with Stephen A. Smith, Chris Cuomo, National, people love me, imitating me. It's unbelievable.
Westwood won, John Lund, Johnny Ballgame. You've heard it. You've heard the stuff on my page. Um uh uh Bart, I mean come on now. Listen to it, share it.
Tell the world, all I want to do is make a difference. I'm standing out because I want to be me. I don't want to just cater to everyone else, does the same damn thing. They say, Uh if they just talk about sports, I need personality. I need inflection.
Yes. This is what makes... You guys don't really like him. Mark Ryan, good. Because he knows his facts.
I like Mark Ryan. Yes, you do. And I apologize for maybe stating otherwise. But this is what you gotta bring. You gotta bring personality.
You gotta bring bombasticness. What makes Stephen A. Smith great? Let me interrupt you. Let me stop you right there.
Carlos, is there anything you'd like to say in retort? Greg, I don't hate you if you can hear me. I don't hate you. You just hurt my brain. No, that's not it.
Yeah, yeah. I just it it's like Mike Stone on 97 won the ticket in Detroit.
Okay, but he hates my moniker. And They were doing a Drop thing in 97.1, and all of a sudden, some guy calls in and says, Ba da da. And Mike Stone, he's been around for 45 years. And radio in Detroit. Hates my moniker and does not like it.
I'm the only moniker that he hates. Think about that. Why? They call him Stony. They call Gator, Scott Anderson, Gator, but me, Mr.
Positive. They hate it. He hates it. All I can say, Greg, I'm going to let you go, but all I can say for you is. I want to be in the Mr.
Positive business, and I'm happy to be in the Mr. Positive business. Love you, Bart. You b hey, like I said, everybody. You gotta understand.
This man gave me the confidence To say Even though he didn't like it, boom shakalaka and go for your dreams, and it's taken off from that. Stephen A's mentioned it, Chris Cuomo's mentioned it, and it's because of Bart Winkler allowing me to say for how long was he on your show, eight months, a year? Mark, your show with Infinity was in two years? It was longer than eight months, but it does, yeah. All right, I gotta go.
I gotta go, Greg. I gotta go.
Okay, love you, everybody. Everybody, go for your dream. Thanks, Roger. Greg. All right.
Carlos, I'll give Carlos a minute.
Sorry.
Sorry to do that to you. Oh, it's fine. I get it.
So here's where I want to. I have this knack of When I'm right, I never bet on it. When the bucks were down 0-2. There's my ring light. I put parade chairs out.
Also the five-year anniversary of that. But I did it because I said I knew. What I was watching.
So when I saw that soccer game. On Saturday, and England scored right away. I said to my dad. I said This is going to be like a 6-5 game. I know I sound like LeBron here.
But you could just tell it's gonna be all this is going to be one of those fucking games And then, um Watching yesterday. in like the 50th minute. I'm like, this is going to extras and Spain's going to win one nothing. Why didn't I bet on that? Why didn't you bet on it?
Especially once Argentina got a red card, you're like, oh, screw this. Oh, even before the red card. Because Argentina, they were playing like. And they're pushing Spain guys afterwards, but they were playing like... The only way to win was to get in a fucking fist fight.
Yeah. Not even get the penalty kicks, which Inferior teams will do it's a strategy as old as the game itself, but I think Spain's losing. Probably. Yeah, but shit, they um They were too emotional. It was weird.
From the jump, they were just like trying to. They're just trying to like put their hands down their pants and rip their balls off. Yeah. It's fucking weird. It's an odd way to describe it.
I got another voicemail. It's from David. All right, see, now we can cleanse my palate. I don't mind me a David from Buffalo voicemail.
So David actually left me three. That's a little much, but he brings it. We're not going to play them all. Thank God. One was on the.
Open championship winner Ryan Fox. And again, it's the Open Championship, not the British. Why? No one's told me. It just sounds more prestigious.
We also can't say the French Open anymore. It's Roland Garros. That's dumb. Yeah, that's dumb. Why would I give you a fifth and seventh round pick?
Or this guy who's not playing. Oh, you're just doing trades? No, someone sent me a trade in my Dynasty Baseball League, and I'm like, why the fuck would I do this? Bart, if I leave you a voicemail, will you play it? Do you hear the voicemails I play on this fucking show?
There's no velvet rope to get in this club. You could send me 20 seconds of you farting in the bath. Don't, but you could. All right, so David had some choice words for. Rory McIlroy.
So Bryson had Bryson had his little kerfuffle. His little, you know, fit. Yep. Apparently he thought about trying to get Trump involved. Because that's the play now.
Tiger tried it. The USA soccer team got it. If you don't like a rule, just call Trump. Yeah. Hey, the Bucks are going to get investigated for this Gary Trent Jr.
contract. Trump? Trump. We need you, bud. Quiet Leonard trying to figure out how to get Trump.
Steve Ball.
Well, that's a candidate. We need Mark Carney. And that's a little, you know. You will take Kawhi if you stop the wildfires. All right.
Here is uh David, I'm really surprised where this turned. I didn't realize he didn't like Rory so much. Yeah, Burke, what's up? This is David from Buffalo again. Yeah, just wanted to finish my thoughts on Brighton.
Um it's gonna be fascinating to see where Bryson goes.
Next year. Does he go back to playing a professional tour with Liz Fultz? Or has this guy become like the face of YouTube golf? You know, it's gonna be really interesting to see what happens with him. By the way, uh Rory McElroy I'm really sick and tired of you.
I'm sick and tired of you because it seems like all you give a shit about is the majors. There's a lot more than just the majors. By the way, a couple of the thoughts on this guy. It seems like he's kind of bored with the tour. He acted like in his press conference, he's just kind of bored with the tour.
with the the game outside of the majors. Hey Rory, I'm gonna tell you this man. Everything you've done the last few years, look, Jamie Monaghan rolls you out there to take on live. And we applaud you for that. But stop acting like a whiny little bitch these these days.
And by the way. Stop acting like your marriage is all holier than now. Because, Rory, I've gotten on pretty good sources. that you know you probably Well, just say you've wrestled a few matches out outside of your own bed. There's more shitting on Rory, but I love the analogy that he used.
Definitely wrestled a couple of matches outside. Mm-hmm. And I believe that. One thousand percent. Believe it.
You were nodding your head along with David there. Yeah, Rory's too holier than thou lately. You know. The U.S. slam live because you're a PGA guy.
Look, I don't think anybody has a problem with that. I think a lot of people felt the same way that Rory did about guys bolting to Liv and taking the Saudi money. And now, you know, the chickens are coming home to roost because Liv is probably going to get dissolved by the end of the year. Like, it's. Live golf has definitely been an experiment that has finally failed.
So now all these guys are like, well, fuck, what are we going to do?
So I think Breston DeCambo is like, right now, it seems like he's the poster child of like, Alright. I took the money. I want to come back, but like you guys are, I feel like you guys are just giving me shit for it. And Rory's like the, you know, he's a vocal leader in the PGA locker room or the clubhouse, whatever you want to call that. You know, still slamming these guys, but.
I think Rory just needs to get over it, man. You're not inside these guys' wallets. If someone's offering me like $2 billion to go play, you know, a couple of tours. and uh you know just shake hands and you know be on the CW. And I can normally make 500 grand.
Well, yeah, of course I'm going to try to maximize my earnings. Like I think most people would. You know, not everybody's in the position that Rory is, and where he's competing for championships and majors and whatnot.
So, like, that whole. I understand sticking up for your league. But I disagree with slamming guys for making financial decisions, regardless of where the money's coming from. Like, I understand Saudi money is aka blood money, but. We're out of work.
You know, we're out of steady work right now. The Saudis wanted to start a fucking 24-7 sports network. I'm jumping ship. I go to the Saudis right now, even if it's three months and incredibly high pay. I got to do it.
So I don't kill these guys for doing it. I don't know what I would do. I'm more open to it than I used to be.
Now that I've on this set. Yeah. It's easy to be like Rory. And Rory, Rory, besides the lid stuff, he was also like. We know everything he does is performative.
We know he's not a good guy. He doesn't like him. He just doesn't like him. And that's fine. You don't like him either.
But stop him. But is that not good for the game? Is it not good to WWEify the game? Or are we in a point now where everything has to be wrestling? Why can't we just enjoy the pure sport of it?
Yeah, I think The WWEification of things, it doesn't need to be everywhere. Golf, you just can't take it seriously. Fanatics Fest. I don't necessarily want to take it. All right, first of all, let me say this about Fanatics Fest.
Fanatics Fest. This is thing in New York where apparently everyone goes. Because Michael Rubin eyes friends. I don't understand this. I don't understand how everyone.
Allows it. Like, why is he? I thought it was one thing that he's like, okay, he's doing hits at WFAN, he's in the studio. All right, let's get and go with this guy and get some access. He's doing fucking guest hits on first take.
I don't know what you think of first take, but let me tell you, first take is above Michael Rubin. Yeah. Okay, they don't do, but then they feel like because he owns everything now, yeah, and so you have to like he's Michael Rubin is basically the Saudi Arabia of America, yeah. He's the Amazon of sports. Yeah, and but but why?
Listen, I should have got on Fanatics on the ground up. I don't know why. I guess you just follow the money. I will not be surprised in a couple of years if the Michael Rubin documentary drops and he's the new Diddy. There's no way he's having all these celebrities to this house dressed up in white and nothing like.
Horrible is happening.
Something horrible is happening there. I don't know why. There's definitely some shit, shady shit going on, man, because you're not going to tell me all of these people like him because of his. personality. They like him because he's a fucking billionaire and he has his hand as a lot of cookie jars.
So I'm sure it's a powerful ally to have, but I just. How he's accumulated so much power so quickly and so vastly. Is insane to me. He just looks like a fucking doofus. And if he didn't have the money, he'd be a runner to no bum.
I don't think Fanatics needs to have like. the head of a company be a like I don't think we need Like, Fanatics should be like, who's the head of Geico? I have no idea, but I know about the Geico Gecko.
So, Fanatics, their front-facing guy shouldn't be Michael Rubin. It should be. you know, Franny the fan man. Yeah. I don't know what that is, but I hear you.
Like, you know, the name Phil Knight, you know, he found the founder of Nike. When's the last time you seen Phil Knight doing all green parts? Yeah, he wasn't out there in the 1990s having a bunch of people out in fucking orgies on his yacht. Yeah. All right.
Speaking of, one of the things that happened at Fanatics was Tom Brady came out in the Undertaker casket. And then hit Logan Paul in the face. Yes, with a shovel.
Now This was one day after he was on Twitter basically adding TKO and say, I want to be in an angle.
So it's already stupid. This is from the Super Bowl, this video, eight seconds. where Logan Paul, who's in WWE. currently injured, gives Brady the finger. And I think that's Michael Rubin right there.
And then Brady's in a different box giving the finger back. Brady's got a lot of backlash from this, including from his most argent supporters. Because Tom Brady This is what Portnoy said this morning. He's no better than Hawk Tua right now. Brady is, and this is, I watched a little bit of their clip on the Barstool show.
Brady is acting like he needs to do all these things to get to a place. You're already there. Like, I should try shit like this. Yeah, we should be getting slapped or slapping Logan Paul or, you know, whatever. This is Tom Brady.
Correct. Right, Forrest is right. This also goes back. They had a weird beef at the Flake football game. Like, I don't, it's all storyline related because Grunkowski and Paul had this shit.
So, what does Brady want? I was in the grocery store the other day. I saw an image of him. It didn't even look like Tom Brady. This guy's face is so CGI, AI slopped himself.
He doesn't look like himself. I don't know what he's doing. You would never. I guess I don't know that you could take. Tom Brady.
of five years ago and introduce him to this Tom Brady and they would like. Be friends. Yeah, the Tom Brady from Michigan would get put into a locker. It's a completely different person. I, yeah.
He he's already A household name. I don't know what he wants. Is there a global domination angle that I'm missing here? Does he want to be known in Stockholm? I don't get it.
This is why, if you're an entertainer, and I've always. I've always regretted to have this take. But the earlier you die, the better your legacy. Because we didn't have, like, who knows what kind of shit John Lennon would be up to right now if he was alive. Yeah, like, like, now McCartney's been able, I think.
To an extent. Yeah, sure. You know, wings was solid, uh, but like Would we would you be looking at Notorious BIG's 10th album the same as you do his first two? No. Because you have like 30 years of an unblemished record.
And then you forget about Like then but then you gotta like balance it with the other because like Bill Belichick Not die, but even disappear or just retire. No one's retiring anymore. No one's retiring.
Well, you know, we're all living longer, and if you have money, you can live even longer. What was that Batman quote? You either die a hero or live long enough to be a villain. That's pretty much the take. That's the take.
That's the take. And these guys, they're. If it's an identity crisis, like I think that's why Rogers is still playing because he doesn't know what to do next. Yeah, because I think he was banking on that Jeopardy thing. He was banking on that Jeopardy host.
That's what he wanted to be. He wanted to be the smartest guy in the room. He wanted to be an enigma. And then Jeopardy just started going and Jeopardy would look at if Rogers is hosting Jeopardy by now, it'd be different. He'd be like, I actually think the daily double is fucking.
It's fucking bullshit. It's a government conspiracy. Shouldn't be double. Yeah, I don't know.
Something stupid would change. Fuck Jeopardy. The one went microphone.
So I don't know what Brady's up to. I also, I'm, I'm. Did you watch Saturday night's main event? I saw bits and pieces of it.
So, yeah.
So, they had an interesting enough match. to main event a card. Which was CM Punk versus Cody, or CM Punk and Cody Rhodes against. Gunther and Sami Zayn. And then Nick Old just got, yeah.
And if those two win, they get into the SummerSamp match as a Fatal 4-way. Yeah. Separate from that. Cody and Punk won because of interference from a GM who's an old wrestler who's going to wrestle Gunther now at SummerSlam. I don't know what Sammy's going to do.
No sense. I think Sammy still finds a way to get into a triple threat. And then you have these two, and now they're faking some beef between Punk and Cody that doesn't look genuine at all. But This did not main event WrestleMania. Or Saturday night's main event.
What main event did was. Jalen Brunson doing a Roman Reigns. 15 minute intro. Them presenting him a belt Seth and Tyrese Halliburton coming out. And that was the main event.
Didn't Carl Anthony add a main event? Did you have a silk slam judgment day, or was that earlier in the show? You did have cat with a really good choke slam of JD McDonough. But That should have been their sports moment, and that's fine. I don't mind when they cross.
It's just... It seems we're in a bad cycle right now where WWE. really wants to be the cool kid. And beyond ESPN. Yeah.
But ESPN is acting just as thirsty. To be a part of WWE. In the past, ESPN was like, fuck you. But now, since they paid all this money, and are not recouping the money.
Now they got to be more like we got to ESPNify the WWE while WWE fies ESPN. And then the whole thing is just a dog shit product, which my son still. Adores. Did he understand and nick all this interference? He did.
Oh, he's very into that story. Really? He likes it when there's blood.
Okay. So Lyra Valkyrie was all full of blood. And he loved that. When he plays the Royal Rumbles, now we're not playing to win, we're playing to make guys bloody. Yeah.
So he would have loved Rick Claire. Yeah, so we're going on the wrong path here. And then I'm like, all right, let's watch AEW. And then I see Tommaso Ciampa trying to take a fucking. What is that?
Drill and put it in Jericho's fucking eyeball. Anyway, Kenny Omega's champion again, right? Mm-hmm. Yeah, can he beat MJF and he's going to face Will Osprey at all? MJF is actually the 180W guy.
And I'm like, all right, we need to get him to WWE. I gotta get him in there. I don't think he's ever going to go. I don't think he is either. But man.
I'm all the way back in. MJF has grown on me tremendously. I like AEW. We watch that too. It's alright.

Yeah. All right, it's time for what we actually wanted to do today. Yeah, and we're an hour into it. I'm going to play the full Avengers doomsday trailer. Let me get my socket.
I've seen a lot of, so this is how it went this morning. Fantastic Ford did their little teaser last night where you thought you might get a trailer today, and we did. This trailer It's got a lot of people excited. Yours truly included. That lasted for 30 minutes, and then now there's the grifting backlash to the trailer.
I don't know, dude. I'm excited about it. I'm also. slightly disappointed with one aspect of things like There's no mea coppa from Marvel in terms of the projects that flopped. They're putting front and center what worked.
Shang-Chi worked. Fantastic for it worked. DX-Men is going to work. There is no eternal in this whatsoever. There's no there's no mention of a lot of the shit that they try to like you know, uh start a continuity with And I think they're just going to drive right through it.
Like, are like Ant-Man was standing with the Thunderbolts. Cool. Love me some Ant-Man. There's no reference to Kang whatsoever. Like, I don't, I think Marvel.
Oh, we gotta see the movie first. For sure. But I think Marvel, I think Marvel's just going to ignore a lot of the shit that happened. And that's what's going to bother me. Yes.
But there's some things I want him to ignore, like ignore secret invasion. Ignore it completely. Like Secret Invasion and Internals, I don't think either of them happened. Although, I do want Black Knight. I want blade.
But why did Hulk have a son? Why? Why did She-Hulk smash Daredevil and then Murdoch went back and nothing ever happened? I want every piece of content that I can get my hands on. And I don't mind if they do projects like a Wonder Man that's in the universe but doesn't connect to the overall story.
Sure. 'Cause and it was and it was well executed too. But when they do like Miss Marvel. That's obviously supposed to tie in. Is Captain Marvel going to be in this movie?
Where's Spider-Man? when we might find out. It seems like it's just the three X-Men world, which I'm still confused how Deadpool got back in the Fox universe. Explain that the fantastic four world and then this world, but there's all these other infinite worlds. Where are they?
Mm-hmm. Um There's just, I don't, I don't, I've read some things that it seems like they're going to be true, so I don't want to spoil anything. But I j I don't want to be I don't want to be in this movie and be thinking like. Why did I watch Ms. Marvel?
Why did I watch Moon Knight? Yeah. Why did those even exist? Like, am I going to be wasting my time with Vision Quest when that comes out? And if I start re-watching, and if you start watching from the beginning, it's like, oh, hey, this is cool, this is cool, this is cool, this is cool.
this Kang thing's building. And then it just goes away, and then Dr. Dune's in the end of one thing, and then he's the whole fucking next movie. That's pretty much what it's going to be. It was just like Infinity War and Endgame.
Thanos was, you know. The the Infinity War Thanos. Was him coming to like dominate everything? And then he was barely an endgame. Except the end.
When he got to get murked, I feel like they're doing a reverse thing with Danos. Like, Dr. Doom is just going to be the Doomsday is going to be the buildup to Doom, and then Secret Wars will be him finally getting taken down.
So I'm excited. For it. I'm excited. I hope a lot of more questions are answered. I walk out of a lot of these Marvel movies.
thinking I walk out of a lot of these Marvel movies thinking, I wish there was more. That happened. I wish there was more connecting.
So, my expectation is usually too high. And so I usually am disciplined. Like, I liked Fantastic Four as a movie. And I know it was going to be standalone, but I don't know. No, I felt the same way.
I like Thunderbolts, but then there's a 14-month time jump. It's like, what? What happened? Yeah, and like, how can you have a void? And then, if you're trying to have daredevil.
Where's the what are we trying to do here?
So there's too much time jumps. There's too much time lapse. Like, I'm with you. I wish things connected more. And that's what I think.
That's why, I mean, I always listen, I was always a Marvel geek. You know, I read comics growing up, but like the beginning of the MCU was just phenomenal because you knew everything was going to tie into everything.
Now there's just so many loose threads. Um so I hope that Um They do a better job in terms of getting those things back together. And if they're not going to address some of the stuff, or not rather, if they know some things don't work, give us a plausible reason of why it's not going to work. Like mention the Eternals what the fuck happened, and then just move on. Uh, before you do a complete like reboot of the universe, because I think that's what Secret Wars is going to want to be.
They're going to have this climatic event, and then you're going to have an MCU reset. All right. Well, we learn every day here on the Winklerverse. Thank you all for being a part of it. Carlos.
We'll talk to you soon. I guess in a week. Thanks for stopping. Oh, Big Brother, this season is fucking great. By the way, I'm back in.
And I completely forgot. I will be older.
Next time I see you guys. Your birthday's tomorrow. It is. I knew that. Robin Connecticut was very nice.
He actually called yesterday. He's just like, hey. It's two days waiting, and I'm like, wow, man, what a callback to Infinity Sports Network. I completely forgot I had a real job. Yeah, well, let's see.
It's been a long Okay. All right. Thank you guys. We'll be back with mm-hmm tomorrow. Thanks for stopping into the Winklerverse.
