What I wanted to make was that it would just, I don't know, seem to me more beneficial if there was more emphasis placed on Genesis than there seems to be on eschatology. I think, for me, foundational biblical knowledge, I think that should hold precedence maybe over the eschatology, especially for me being a younger Christian.

Well, Genesis opens the door, Revelation closes it, and we're in between those two doors, but we're close to the final days. And people get excited about what's going on and they get angry. When we look at our culture, particularly here in America, with the lies and deception that's being perpetrated by our government upon ourselves and the destruction it's doing to our economy and its hypocrisy, people become angry. And when they become angry and they become conspiratorial to try and make sense of things, then they often grab onto things that are too far out in the left field.

I say stick with what's obvious and what you know. We know, for example, for a fact that Biden is a hypocrite because he says wear masks and then lets people come in on the border, encourages them to come in without masks. He says get vaccinated and encourages them against the law to come in and invade our country without vaccinations. So we see hypocrisy. This we can put our finger on and say there's hypocrisy.

What's that a sign of? It's a sign of the end times and the deception and that the ruler of this age uses deception and lies to gain power. Well, we can draw those kind of conclusions. Are we going to say, for example, as you said, hey, you know, Biden's doing chemtrails and making people compliant.

That's why they turn into Democrats. Well, that's just going too far. We could we only should connect the dots where the dots are actually there. And that's where I tell people. And so when I do eschatological studies, I say, here's a view. There's a view. And here's another view. We don't know which one's exactly right.

I hold to this one because of these reasons. But I could be wrong. And that's, I think, is a healthy attitude to have. We believe what we believe and and that's OK. And if we disagree, that's OK.

It's all right. I've got friends who disagree with me on eschatology. We get along perfectly fine, but we're not conspiratorialists unless I accuse them of being conspiratorialists because they don't agree with exactly what I say.

That's obviously a conspiracy. And they laugh. I mean, we move on. So I have one more question for you. Do you think that or can can we say in the Bible that God is still speaking to people today?

Yes. As a lot of preachers will claim that they heard from God this or God told them that God told them this. Now, I thought that reading in the scripture that the canon was closed and that God, everything God had to say to us, he left with Jesus.

Well, let me jump in. OK. If you go to 1 Corinthians 14, you'll see that people had words of knowledge, words of wisdom, prophecies and things like that, which are obviously from the power of the Holy Spirit, but they were never intended to be canonized. So you can say that there are certain charismatic movements that are not meant to be canonized. People, in my opinion, make the mistake of saying it in my own theological camp. They do that. I disagree with them that they'll say, no, the canon is closed and those things would threaten the canon.

No, they don't. Because in 1 Corinthians 14, it's right there. And it never was a threat to the canon because it wasn't intended to be part of the canon. So that's that to me is an easy one. So. Excuse me. So this issue of can God speak to people today? Of course he can. Can he speak audibly?

That's a different question. When people say, you know, God told me last night, I'm going to tell you something. You know, if you listen to some preacher, you know, last night I was at dinner and, you know, and God told me, you know, that God's going to do this and if you're casual about it, God's not talking to him. If God speaks to you, you remember it. God speaks to you. You're different. I know a man or he knew a man and he told me this and you can do what you want with it. Okay.

Is it true or false? I can't judge his experience except to say that what I'll tell you what happened, that he and I would go into Mexico and go to prison and minister to the people in prison. He was a Hollywood producer who gave it all up to follow the Lord Jesus Christ, etc. His life was absolutely changed and he told me once, we sat in a van and we're talking about this thing.

It was in Mexico outside of a prison and he told me that he was a Hollywood producer and everything was going on and someone did something wrong and then he got the blame for it. He went to jail for two years and the judge found out about what everything was and got him out and said, no, this is all wrong. He was incarcerated improperly, etc. He was innocent and he was innocent.

Anyway, that's the setting. Before he was going to go to jail and he knew people lied, stole from him, planted false evidence in the Hollywood scene, he had a gun to his head. He had his finger on the trigger and he was going to end it right there. He told me he heard an audible voice just like someone in the room speaking and said, don't do that. I love you.

That's what he said. I said, you heard his voice? He goes, yes, as if you were in the room and you said it. It was that loud and that audibly clear. It wasn't like an impression. It was an audible voice.

Well, what do you do with that? Is it true? Can't say yes.

Can't say no. Can God do things like that to people? He can. The question is, does he?

Does he prophesy through people? I've got an experience where that happened. My own experience. It's happened. So does it make it true? Does it make it true? But the thing is, I think we've got to be a little bit careful that we don't want to sit in our nice chairs and look down our noses at others who are charismatic and say, that can't be right.

They're threatening the canon. God doesn't talk anymore. Because it says in 1 Corinthians 1.7 that the church is not to lack any charisma while we're waiting for the return of Christ. So I think the church is missing out a little bit on the charismatic movement.

I think we have more there that we need to tap into. Now, how to do that, I don't know. That's my opinion. Okay?

Interesting. Thank you so much, Matt. God bless.

And keep on doing what you're doing. I took your first course online. Very informative, and I wanted to thank you for that personally. The theology course? Well, good.

Yes, sir. I'm going to probably have to go through there and add some more stuff because I've learned even more in the past few years. I think some of your letters that you wrote today, they might benefit, I think, a great deal from taking that course if you can get it. My letters?

Or listening? The letters you were reading from your emails that you were reading from the people. Oh, yeah.

I love emails. I don't know what you mean. All right, brother.

God bless, man. Okay. Hey, folks, would you open the lines? 877-207-2276, please? Stay tuned. We'll be right back. It's Matt Slick live, taking your calls at 877-207-2276.

Here's Matt Slick. All right, everyone, welcome back to the show, bottom of the hour. It's a nice Friday.

I hope you're having a good time. Let's get to Glenn from North Carolina. Glenn, welcome.

You're on the air. Hey, Matt. How are you?

I'm doing all right. So what do you got, buddy? The question I have to ask is how do they come about being made in God's image as body, soul, and spirit? That's called trichotomy. There's different views, trichotomy and dichotomy. Trichotomy is that body, soul, and spirit is how we're made up, that the soul is in the form of a spirit that's housed in a body. And then dichotomy would say the soul and the spirit are basically the same thing, interchangeably used, and it's housed in a body, and that's dichotomy.

The Bible is not clear on which one it is, but it does say that the word of God is sharper, and the word of God is shorter, I think it's Hebrews 4.12, and can divide between bodies of the spirit, soul, and spirit. And so some people say, well, there you go, there's a proof. I don't think it's proof, but, you know, it's supportive evidence, and that's all that's going on there. Is that what they're talking about there in Genesis? Because I've had that answer before.

I just want to make sure. When I've asked, and this is when in Genesis we're most, let us create man and our image and our likeness. Is that the body, soul, and spirit, is that what they're talking about? No, it has to do with what's called the communicable attributes of God.

In order to make sense of this, I have to explain. God has certain qualities, he has certain attributes, like omniscience, omnipotence, omnisapience, aseity. This means he's everywhere all the time, he's non-contingent, he's self-sufficient, doesn't depend on anything else, he's eternal. These are qualities that God has, and they're called incommunicable or non-communicable, in that they cannot be communicated to us. We can't participate in God's omniscience. We don't participate in God's omnipresence. We don't participate in his eternalness in the past tense.

We don't do that. So those are the incommunicable attributes. However, the communicable attributes of God are that he loves, but we can love.

He can hate, and we can hate. He can reason, we can reason. He thinks, we can think. He's aware of others, we can be aware of others. So those are the attributes that are called communicable. So we are made in the image of God in the communicable attributes. We're made, it doesn't just mean that, but in those things that belong to God, that can be communicated to us as people, we have those. And certain of those are communicated also to the angelic realm in a certain sense. But we are made different because we're the ones made in God's image, but not the angels. So there's a bit of a difference there, and I don't know exactly what that difference is, because angels can think, and we can think, and God can think. But there's something else going on in the quality, in the image of God in man, and I just don't know what that is yet. But that's a good start.

Well, let me ask you a question. When Moses wrote the first five books, it's inspired by the word, man wrote it, but it's inspired by God. Correct. When he said us, I mean, he didn't know who the Lord Jesus was, or the Comforter.

I'm sorry? You mean in Genesis 1.26 when God said, let us make man in our image? Yeah, yeah. I mean, when Moses wrote that, he didn't know who the Lord Jesus was. Yeah, but he didn't know who the Lord Jesus was when he wrote that. Right.

Or the Comforter. Well, we don't know what he knew. I was trying to put... You can't say he did not know. We don't know what Moses did or did not know.

That's the correct answer. We can't say, no, he didn't know about this. You don't know what he knew. Because one synopsis of Moses' life is he spent 40 years learning he was somebody in the courts of Pharaoh. Then, you know, he murdered and got kicked out and went out in the desert. So he was 40 years learning he was somebody, 40 years learning he was nobody in the desert, and 40 years being used as nobody.

I like that little synopsis of Moses. But we don't know what he knew. We don't know to an extent. He had knowledge. So all we can do is go with what the Bible says. And we don't know if he understood a plurality about God.

I don't know. But nevertheless, let us make man. And that's inspired and that's what it is. And that's what he said.

Yeah, well, maybe I misspoke. I just go on saying that, I guess, because, you know, Jesus is in the Old Testament. And the Word made the place there in 1 John. And the Comforter, where he told the apostles, he had to leave for the Comforter to come. But don't forget, you know, in Genesis chapter 1, God said, that's the Father and the Word and the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of God, hovered over the surface of the deep. Moses wrote this. He understood to some degree that there was more than just a simple Unitarian oneness with God. He even wrote in Deuteronomy 6, 5, the Lord our God is one. And he used the word echad, which is composite unity, like one group of grapes, one cluster. Not yachid, which means one thing, like a single stick. So, God understood, I mean, Moses understood something.

We just don't know how much. Yeah, yeah, yeah. All right? All right, yeah. I didn't mean to, thank you. You too. All right, buddy.

Sure, no problem. That's Glenn from North Carolina, folks. We have three open lines. If you want to give me a call, 877-207-2276. We lost Mitchell. And now we're going to jump over to Clay from North Carolina. Clay, welcome. You're on the air. Brother Matt, it's always a blessing to be able to talk to you and have a conversation with you. Of course.

First thing, let me jumpstart this and say that you are not off balance or anything like that. I just look at it, and when I hear people say things like that, they don't know, or they are not able to handle the truth of what you're speaking. I got a kick out of it. It's like the one person saying that we're all hypocrites, that we really need to know the Lord. You wouldn't be doing what you're doing if the Lord had not guided you into doing this. And I'm very blessed and thankful that you are able to come out and say things like this, because there are so many people that are lost.

And that's really sad to me. I feel it's a blessing to be able to hear you say things like this. What I was going to also share with you before I ask the question that I'm going to ask, I listen to Truth Radio, and that's where you come in.

They broadcast you from six to seven here, and I'm very thankful to the Lord for that. And I'm able to listen to certain things, because there's so much deception and lying going on. About three to four weeks ago, Brother Steve, who comes on from four to five, had this lady on, and she's running for Congress. And she shared that she is running for Congress, and she's been in the nursing field for many, many, many years. And one thing that she got into was talking about the Ten Commandments. And she ran down the Ten Commandments, but the specific one she laid attention to was Thou shalt not bear false witness. Now, what I've shared with people, because I heard her share this, and I've told people, I said, you know, it says that thou shalt not bear false witness. Now, when you deceive somebody, or when you lie to somebody, does that not come in alignment with thou shalt not bear false witness? And the reason I'm asking this is because other people were saying that, you know, there's a bunch of deception going on, there's a bunch of lying going on, and it's even in Scripture in the Old and New Testament, it says that the evil one is out to deceive a lot of people. So that's what I'm wondering, is that correct? Does not the word deception or lying line up with thou shalt not bear false witness?

Yes. Lying and bearing false witness are the same thing. Well, they're very similar. A lie can be a direct deceit that you say you know something is not true, and you speak it to somebody in order to deceive them. Now, that's a lie. And bearing a false witness, you could say, well, you believe such and such, and when you're bearing witness about them but it's not true, and it is also a lie, because, you know, a false witness is a lie, but it's a different context.

The producer and I, Keith, we were just talking about this very thing before the show, you know, about deception, and, you know, different situations, but kind of coincidental. But anyway, go ahead. So I'm just thank you so much.

I give thanks to the Lord for you for giving clarification on that. It's very helpful and very knowledgeable and very understanding, and I give thanks to the Lord, because it's just amazing to me how people, you know, I get a kick. I get a kick out of you if you're going to read some hate mail. I love hate mail. I do.

I get a kick out of it. I understand. There's something wrong with me, though. Thank you for sharing.

No, there's nothing wrong with you. Look, when you're a man of God, you bring forth the actual truth of what Scripture is about. When somebody is asking you something, you share it. Thank you, brother, God bless you for doing your job. I'll let the next person go ahead and do what they've got to do. Thank you, man. God bless you for doing what you're doing.

Real fast. Contact Truth Network and just say, hey, thanks for having the shows on. They're good people there. Amen. All right. Hey, folks, we'll be right back after these messages. Please stay tuned. It's Matt Slick live. Taking your calls at 877-207-2276.

Here's Matt Slick. Hey, everybody, welcome back. Let's see, it's the last quarter of the hour, and we have four open lines. If you want to give me a call, 877-207-2276. Let's get to fail, fall, for North Carolina.

Welcome. You're on the air. No, it's fail, F-A-I-L. Fail. How's Matt? All right, how are you doing? First time I talk to you, it's when it's when it's a happy new year. Well, happy new year. Yeah. I remember you. I wanted to make a comment. I know you do. Yeah. Only one fail.

Well, you see, it's F, because on the screen where it is, I can't quite see the differentiation between the dot and the I, so I'm not sure I want to make sure. I thought it was you, but I like talking to you, because you're so smart and wonderful. To God be the glory. To God be the glory. To God be the glory.

That's right. You need to be my neighbor. I remember you.

No, you got to move over to Idaho to be my neighbor. That'd be good, because we get along. Well, listen, I was thinking about what the brother's comment was about Moses writing the Torah and what Moses knew or did not know. And for me, the fact that Moses may not have known is evidence that he heard from God what to write.

Yeah. Right, because those things that God has spoken came true, and they are. So the fact that they are makes it more authentic, because Moses probably did know all the facts, but they are. So that lets you know that he must have heard from God.

Yeah, uh-huh. Well, you know, the body of the Lord, we discussed this, or the theologians discussed it. What did they know, and what was it like to be writing something that was inspired? Did you know it was inspired? I think Paul knew, because of some of the things he said.

But who knows what happened? Maybe Moses' writing is going, you know what? I know what the Lord's saying. Could it be like the spiritual gift of word of knowledge, where you just know something from God? Could it be the same kind of thing would happen when it was coming into Scripture, and they were writing these things?

I don't know, but God does, and he worked it out. Yeah. Well, that's my comment, and I'm back on board now, so I have more time to listen. Well, good for you. I got a little busy in the end of 2021, so I'm ready. I'm ready to listen every day at 6. Well, good.

I'm glad. And, oh, there was something else about, I don't remember, about being out there. Oh, man, there was something, maybe, I don't know, about getting out there sometime on the East Coast.

Anyway, I can't remember. Anyway, so I was thinking if I did get out there, it was an occasion of me to come out there possibly, it would be fun to be out there and meet people. They may want to meet me.

I don't know. It may not be a good thing to meet people. It might be bad. It's okay. It's okay.

You know, I used to live in New Jersey, and... I'm sorry to hear that. I know.

You know what? I'm not perfect. And somebody said, and so I'm living here in North Carolina, back here in North Carolina, back here in North Carolina, and people said to me, well, how do, are you sad? I said, no, I said, anytime God sends me anywhere that season where I was, it's over. And then he had something, another assignment for me. And I don't like to use the word level because I don't see that word in the Bible, level.

I think that God put us on different assignments and different seasons, and then we are supposed to be obedient. So I'm here. I'm in North Carolina. I was born in North Carolina, to be very honest with you. I lived in Jersey for years.

I lived in North Carolina. So wherever God sends me, I'm good. That's right. Amen. Get ready, get ready, get ready, get ready. That's right.

It's just one season. My wife and I were in California for a long time. Now we're in Idaho, and hey, you know, it's just wherever God sends us and whatever he does. So praise God, and we continue to trust him and move forward.

He knows what we're doing, and he knows what we're doing better than we do. Absolutely. Amen. And you said the word trust, and that is, you know, that is so, so. You used the word entrust, E-N-P-R-U-S, entrust. Entrust, yes.

That's right. Amen. All right. Well, good. Okay. You there?

I lose you? I'm here. Oh, okay. Well, good. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Yes. Yes, yes. Hallelujah.

To God be the glory. Thank you, Max. Okay. Well, God bless. All right.

Well, that was a fail. She's always nice. I like talking to her. And if you want to give me a call, we have five open lines.

8772072276. So I was glancing some more some hate mail. I like hate mail. And so we do hate mail on Friday sometime, and I thought I'd read a little bit more. This is good. People don't think when they write, and I'm going to give you a little bit of a logic lesson. This is what one guy says. You have no proof there is no God either.

Now, do people read what they write? You have no proof there is no God. That's a double negative, which is confusing. So you don't have no proof that there is no God.

What? Anyway, who holds the universe in perfect harmony? Well, God does. Why do they write to me about this? Why do they complain?

We defend the existence of God. So I don't get this. Why is all the bad weather becoming more frequent?

I don't know. The world is turning gay. This is a sign of Satan, and God is at work to bring this world to its knees. I feel sorry for you. What did I do?

I didn't do anything. What? So, you know, people get attacked. I'm like, did you even look at the sign? Did you read anything that I said? Did you read any of the articles?

All of a sudden, it's like, you must read one sentence and then judge the entire sign off one sentence out of context. Anyway, he says, I feel sorry for you. In the end, you're going to be wishing you had believed.

Then it will be too late for you. Believed? Believe what?

What does he want me to believe? Man. Oh. So anyway, let's see if we've got another one, because we've got no callers waiting.

I like to hate mail. Of course, Jesus rose from the dead, but the Jewish religion, which includes Messiah, has no triad deity teaching or concept. The Trinity is a Roman Catholic doctrine written hundreds of years after the Jewish religion had been established. Do a little research about God's identity from 4,000 B.C.

Man, I love this stuff. Hey, do some research. OK, well, you do some research on God's identity from 4,000 B.C. to A.D. 100. Oh, OK. Guess I ought to do some research now. 4,100 years of research in B.C.

And exactly how do I do that? Where do I go? But, you know, at least people are awesome. OK? Hey, do some research on God from 4,000 B.C.

Oh, oh, all right. I'll just get my 4,000 B.C. year-old book that has all stuff about God in it. That's how I'll do my research. Or maybe I'll get some camels so I can go talk to the people out there. Hey, do you know what was going on 4,000 B.C.

here? That's 6,000 years ago. Yeah, we know. We'll tell you all about it. What kind of a statement is that? Oh, OK. He'll say, he goes, you will not find any type, form, or fashion of a trinity.

Really? How do you know that? How does he know? OK. And that three-person, yet one-God stuff comes from Baal, Babylon, and now Rome, and the Protestants. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Obviously, the person, oh, man. Obviously, this person does not know how to read the Bible. Anyway, were you aware that Baal was a father, mother, and son God? No, it's not true. He doesn't know what he's talking about. Do a Google search. Oh, that's how you do it, research folks. Do Google search. So this guy wants me to do God's identity research from 4,000 B.C.

to 100 A.D. And he tells me, do Google research on Baal. So that's how it works. Oh, man. He says, trinity is false doctrine, Nimrod. Oh, man, I love that. Oh, Semiramis, and you'll be surprised. I love that when people say, if you read this, you will be surprised, because I know what's going to happen to you. I know how you think. I know that you will be surprised, because obviously, the four decades you've been doing stuff, you've never read this and never studied it. That's why you'd be surprised, because I know you will.

The same info is also found in the history books, Bible Commentaries and Encyclopedias. Let us know what you find, huh? It's what he says. Thanks. Pete and Sandy. Hey, Pete and Sandy. Wow.

Oh, man. I enjoy talking to people like that, because they obviously don't have both oars in the water. They don't have all their paws in the litter box. Their quantum tunneling doesn't. Their electrons don't orbit. All kinds of things.

They don't orbit. All kinds of stuff like that. I love those kind of sayings, too.

Their decoys don't float. Whatever. I like that kind of stuff. All right. All right. All right.

It says nobody's calling. I'm going to do another one. I'm writing in regards to Mr. Slick's glorious. Oh, this is good. To Mr. Slick's gloriously ignorant and rather insulting take on what can cause demonic oppression. I love this. Gloriously ignorant.

Now, that is a good combo. Gloriously ignorant. As a fellow Christian, I find it irresponsible and, at worst, unforgivable to further push negative stereotypes of Catholicism.

The Catholic Church is deeply flawed, and that's no secret, but to keep on this anti-Catholic bandwagon makes me wonder about the connection between evangelism and old racist leanings in the world. What? Man, it reminds me of the wackos on news media.

Do you say something they don't like? You're a racist. What?

They said, I don't like V8 engines. You're obviously a racist. It's like, what? What's that going to do with anything? I'm not a racist. And so they just accuse you. You're just a racist.

All right. And Catholicism is bankrupt, anyway. It's just a false religion. That's another topic. Anglo-Saxon settlers deeply resented waves of Irish and Italian immigrants, which fueled the early anti-Catholic movements in the American southeast.

Oh, man. To see it still alive and well in day and age reminds me of how shallow and ultimately stupid my fellow American Christians are. Obviously, this person thinks that the only reason I, for one, disagree with Catholicism is because of collective social prejudices from history. It can't possibly be that it's because of Scripture. I think he won't say that. I encourage Mr.

Silk, instead of slick, Mr. Silk to count the number of Catholic hospitals providing treatments to the world. That doesn't mean they're true. Just because they have Catholic hospitals doesn't mean they're true. And then count how many evangelical hospitals are doing the same.

I can't think of one. I also encourage Mr. Silk to look deep into himself and his business of making money for personal profit in the name of Christ. Wow. See, this is what people do. They don't know the facts. They don't know stuff. They accuse you of things you're not guilty of.

They impugn your motives. I mean, come on. Because I don't recall any verse in the Bible regarding thousand dollar suits or overpriced yet poorly executed haircuts. Well, I don't have expensive suits, that's for sure. And I cut my own hair to save money, which explains why it looks like this. You know, it looks like a couple of birds had a fight in my hair.

That's what it looks like. And, you know, I'm married so I don't have to impress anybody. So I just go, hey, hon, look at my haircut.

I got it. And she just looks at me and shakes her head. Why don't you go and get a haircut done? I don't know. Don't you like it? You've got your forehead a lot around me. Poor woman.

She's got issues. There you go, folks. I had a good time with some hate mail on Friday. I hope you have a great weekend. May the Lord bless you.

And by His, get him, Floby. And by His grace next week, we'll be back on the air. Have a great weekend, everybody. We'll talk to you then. God bless. We'll see you next week.
