And we can get to those kind of things that have questions and comments and stuff like that. All right, we've got nobody waiting right now. And today's date is January 22nd, 2020. Fuck a six. Yeah.
I'm still doing that. 2026, January 22nd. All right. We have nobody waiting.
So, what I thought I'd talk about is an interesting encounter I had last night. on uh Discord. Discord is a chat. Kind of a system thing place like that, and I met a guy. who denies the Trinity and denies Jesus as is God in flesh.
This guy was intelligent, he was articulate, he was knowledgeable. He uh was able to uh Share his views. We went back and forth. We stepped on each other's toes a few times. A couple of times I thought he got pinned, and then.
Well, I'm trying to adjust the camera here. There we go. And so uh We had this discussion. I'm going to go over a little bit of it because people said they really enjoyed the discussion. because they got to hear apologetics uh in a real live sense.
So this guy I'm gonna go over some of the stuff. And I think it'll be interesting.
So, one of the things I did was to show him that Jesus is God in flesh, God Almighty, which he denied. He denied. In fact, it reminds me. Let's do this. Let's see, do that.
And. He talked about what's called a manifestation versus. An incarnation. At least he talked about manifestation. I said what he's doing is committing, he's teaching the manifestation, but not the incarnation.
Now, why is this important? Let me tell you what this means. When we have God appearing in the Old Testament, it's a manifestation. When we have Jesus in the New Testament, it's an incarnation. A manifestation can kind of appear, disappear, manifest over here, there, whatever.
An incarnation is different. It is where in the person of Christ are two natures, a divine nature and a human nature, and this will be permanent. This arrangement is a permanent arrangement.
So that's an incarnation where the Divine Word became flesh and dwelt among us. And so he was talking about God the Father dwelling inside of Jesus.
Now is that the case? There is a sense in which that is true because the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are all one essence. And so if Jesus is in there, then the Father and Spirit are there. It's necessary out of what's called a pericuritic relationship. And a little bit what we might want to get into, what's called inseparable operations.
But when we talk about the person, we say the person of Christ or the Word, second person of the Trinity, was incarnate, not the person of the Father, not the person of the Spirit. All right, and we didn't even get into the issue of the personhood of the Spirit, which I, you know, we. It was two hours, an hour and a half of discussion, whatever it was, you know. And uh just another topic.
So he kept saying something that uh That Jesus is the Son of God.
Nowhere in the Bible did he say that he was God. And I said, First of all, don't make the mistake. Of thinking that the people back then had to speak in terms that you're comfortable with now. They spoke in terms that they understood contextually. back then.
So when Jesus says, Before Abraham was, I am. What's the reason that he would say this, and why did they want to kill him for saying that? And then he gave some reasons about, well, it's because. Because he was claiming to be the Messiah and stuff like that. And so that's not what I am means.
Because they said he was claimed to be God, and things like that. And uh, So Anyway, we had this discussion, we had this this this discussion, it went on and on. And he kept saying the term son of God means that he's not God, and I asked him. I said, well, does the term son of God mean he's not God? And he said, yes.
I said, okay. Does the term son of man mean he's not man? Yeah. And he stumbled over it a little bit, and he tried to recover. But he really didn't address the issue, and I know he saw the logic, but he kept coming back into the issue of, well, the Son of Man is this.
He's like a Daniel, but he's not God. He just kept saying this. And so I said, okay, so when John 5:18, and there's a commentary given by John the Apostle. Where it says Jesus was calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God. And I said, Was Jesus equal with God?
And he said, No. I said, now let's go over this again, John 5, 18. This is the commentary given by John. Jesus was calling God his own father, making himself equal to God. That's what he understood the term son of God to mean in the sense of calling God his own father.
And I brought this up maybe six times, maybe seven times, I don't know, where he continually would just not address it. He just ignored it every single time. And I pointed it out. I said, look, if you're gonna continue to just ignore the points I make, Then you're not Making your argument stand. If I have an objection and you just ignore the objection and you go on, it means my objection is still standing and you haven't dealt with it.
And he couldn't, he never did deal with the issue of John 5:18. He never did.
Alright, well, you know, that's just some talk. Here's something I also said. I said, look. Did Jesus claim That he was human, and he said, Well, yeah. I said, Didn't he say, I am thirsty?
Isn't that claiming the human attribute? And he says, yeah. And I said, Is Jesus a person? You know, he's self aware, aware of others. He can speak, has a will.
He says, Yes.
Okay.
So when Jesus then says, I am thirsty, he's claiming to be human, the h the human attributes, right? And I says, yeah. He said, well, when he says, I and the Father will make our abode in you, John 14, 23, is he claiming the divine qualities for himself there? He said no. I said, well, let me get this straight.
So. If Jesus is claiming Human attributes by saying, I am thirsty. But he says, I am with you always, even to the end of the earth. He's not claiming divine attributes. He says, No, he wasn't.
And you can see the inconsistency because the same person is the one making the claim. The I am thirsty is the same person as I will be with you always, even in the earth. And the Father and I will come and make our abode with you. And I said, He's claiming these divine attributes in his person. And this is something he could not answer very well.
He said, Well, the Father's enabling him. I said, Yes, the Father's enabling him and all kinds of stuff.
Now, let's go back to this. If he says, I am thirsty and I will be at the old, is he not and and I went through this over and over and over with him, and he wasn't able to deal with it adequately. And I told him he wasn't able to deal with it. And he said, Yes, I can. I said, You haven't?
And he says, You just don't like the answers I give you. I said, No, I don't, because they're not answering the question. If I ask you what's two plus two, and you say it's my automobile that's going over there. And you say, well, he answered it.
Well, it's not an answer.
So, it's just stuff like that. And the personhood thing was really interesting, and it's important for you to understand if you're listening. That the idea of Jesus as a person, and when we say person, think of a person like you and me in the sense that we are self-aware, we can speak to others, we're aware of others, say you and yours, me and mine, we have a will. Jesus is like that. And what Jesus did was he says, I am thirsty.
And that is claiming his d his uh human attribution, you know. And he says he goes over and he would walk and he would talk. These are all human attributes. And yet, when. The same person says, I will be with you always.
And someone comes along and says, Well, that just means he's doing it by proxy of the father. And I replied, I said, well, wait a minute.
So when he says, I will be with you always, it's not him being with you always? Is that what you're saying? It's the father? He doesn't say that, he says I will. And this is where the wheels came in with this card again.
So we went on and on and on, and um We went to this other issue where I said, I went into the Old Testament and you showed where Jesus, or assuming where God Almighty was seen. And He said that was always the angel. I showed verses. I've done this so many times. Hold on, I got a sneeze.
Oh boy, hold on.
Sorry about that. Oh, I got faked out by my. I didn't even sneeze. Oh, man.
So. I show these places in Exodus 6, 2, and 3, Numbers 12, 6 through 8, Exodus 24, 9 through 11, where it says that God appears. Yeah. And um He says, no, it's an angel. I said, so when it's when it says God.
And when God says I am But Yahweh It's not God say it's not really God. It's an angel saying, I'm Yahweh. Is that what he? He goes, yes. And you can see the inconsistency and um And The ill logic that he was using.
And basically, he's getting this out of the book of first shenanigans. It's like, come on, where are you getting this? This is ridiculous. And so he would just never bend. And I kept showing him things.
Now, here's something else I did: I said, in Psalm 116:4. It says, call upon the name of the Lord. Call upon the name of Yahweh. And he says, and I call upon the name of Yahweh, Yahweh, I beseech you, save my life. And so it's a prayer.
I said, they're praying, and it's only to God Almighty, right? And he said, yes. I said, okay. And he knew what the Septuagint one was, and he appealed to it at one point, so I knew I could do this. And I said, In the Septuagint, which is the Greek translation of the Hebrew Old Testament, about 200 BC, I said, they translate that phrase, call upon the name of Yahweh, into the Greek, call upon the name of the Lord.
So whenever that phrase occurs in the Greek, it's God Almighty. And he says, Yahoo. I says then Paul applies it to Jesus. It first contains one too. with everyone everywhere who calls upon the name of the Lord Jesus.
The word Jesus is applied to that phrase which Paul knows is in reference only To God. Almighty. And Then he came back and went, well, that's just God in him doing that. And, you know, another lame, incapable answer. And we've got a break coming up here in a little bit.
Let me give you one more thing to think about, and you can give me a cauldron to break and stuff like that. We can talk about whatever you want to talk about. But we went to John 10:30 through 34. I and the Father are wandering to pick up stones again to throw at him. Many good works from the Father I've shown you.
For which of these are you stoning me? For good work, we do not stone you, but you being men, make yourself out to be God. It's not written in your law, I said you are gods, etc.
So. Um I said, look. What was it that Jesus said? To cause him to think that he was claiming to be God. And he couldn't answer it.
He did not know. I said, look, if you don't even know. They need to even understand what the culture is of what was being said. And I said, let me explain it to you. And I did.
And I explained it to him. And I said, but here's the thing. I said the Pharisees denied that he was God in flesh, didn't they? And he said, that's right. And he says, just like you.
You are like the Pharisees, I said. You deny that Jesus Christ is God in flesh. You agree with the ones who misunderstood him, didn't know who he really was, and who killed him. Why do you agree with them? And of course that didn't go very well with him.
Even though his politeness was just lowered one level, he still tried to retain a semblance of cognition and then make sense, which it didn't work. And the reason is, is because when you don't have the truth, eventually your ideas are going to fall apart. and is dead. And even though I was able to show him many times in many ways who Jesus is, quoting various verses too, I did that. uh which other stuff but uh It just doesn't make a difference.
And I told him, I said, What you're doing is you're subjecting the Word of God. to your feelings and what your you believe. Not the other way around. And it says, for example, John 5:18, calling God his own Father, making himself equal to God. That's what John the Apostle in the culture understood.
It's what he said. and you don't believe what John the Apostle said. that Jesus was getting at. I said, that's proof that you're not following scripture, that you're making it follow you. And this was our conversation.
It went on like this for an hour and a half. And a lot of people in the room listen the whole time, back and forth. To two, let's just say skilled individuals trying to make their view out of scripture, and I thought it was very informative. I just gave you a little synoptis right there. Do you want to give me a call?
The number is 8772-07-2276. right past. It's Matt Slick Live, taking a call at 877-207-2276. Here's Matt Slick. All right, everybody, welcome back to the show.
We have nobody waiting right now. If you want to give me a call, it is easy. Just dial 8772072276, and we can talk, we can blab. If you're new to the show, well, this is a Bible kind of an answer question kind of a thing. If you want to give me a call and you've got a question about the Theology, different religions, the whether or not You know, Mormonism's true or false, or because it's not, it's not true, or Jehovah's Witnesses, or Islam, or Roman Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxy.
You have stuff about the occult aliens, UFOs. We can talk about all kinds of stuff, even flat earth stuff. even flat earth stuff. Which maybe I'll talk about a little bit because I don't get to talk about that very often. What flat earth is.
Um It reminds me. Let me just do this. Let me show you. There are people who say the Earth is flat, right? There is an easy way to prove it's false.
Yeah. And it's so easy. that when I explain it to them Uh I can tell. that they understand it and then they fumble. to make physics bend to their rules.
So here's an illustration. The flat earth model, imagine a three-foot diameter A map of the earth. It's a circle. And there's a dome over it. And that's the flat earth model.
Okay, that's that's what they do. There's slight variations of that, but that's that's the model.
Now, in the upper area, upper middle of the area, just imagine that there is the moon. And so, if you're imagining that, and you're looking from the outside, you're looking in through this glass dome, you're looking at the moon. And you see it, it's a sphere. And if you look on the left side, Your left. Which is one side of the earth.
And you look on the right side from your perspective. Of the location of the earth, from those different locations, they're going to see different sides of the moon. Simple. Right? When you got at night, everyone everywhere She's the same size as the moon.
Uh Why is that? And the flat earthers It's just so simple. and what they'll do. Is they will just stumble over themselves trying to make it work.
Well, there's atmospheric distortion. There is, what was it? Actually, another one was. gravitational lens bending uh my Yeah. And so I say to them, in your model with a dome, it doesn't work.
I said the only way That they would see the same side as if that Earth model, where the moon is just, you know, a couple feet, maybe two and a half feet, whatever, over the little circle of the three-foot diameter model. You'd have to take that moon and raise it up like twenty to thirty feet. Vertical, just go up. Then, anywhere from the earth, when you're looking, you're going to see the underside. of the moon.
there's very slight var derivation, which is exactly the case when we see the earth. Yeah. And I said, so that means that the the dome model can't be true. Basically, I've just proved that that's the case. Do they Do they cry uncle?
No. They say I'm stupid, don't understand basic physics. Which I always love. I did very well in physics. I love physics, and I have a great mind for it.
I remember once I took a test in order to work with Xerox. I never got hired, I was too young. But we took a test on physics, math. Proportions, understanding stuff. 30 or 40 people in this room, I think I was the youngest, and I was the second one to finish.
And a guy beat me by like five seconds. And he was older, you know, thirties and forties. And I passed. It was very easy. I called up and they called me up l a week or two later.
Say, Yeah, you passed, but we're not going to hire you. Oh, thank you very much. You know, it's okay. I said, How many people passed it? He goes, They go, Oh, maybe 3%.
We'll pass it. Maybe 3%. They said it weeds people out. I said, well, to be honest, I thought it was very easy. I mean, I'm not trying to brag, but it was just easy.
And she goes, some people just is. And it was.
So I understood physics. I do have a good understanding of stuff. And. And I love it when people say, You don't understand physics.
Okay, well, I got a lot to learn, but I understand what I just said. And they don't.
So, anyway, flat earth stuff is bunk. And don't buy into it, okay? Let's get to Bruce from Utah. Bruce, welcome. You're on the air.
Hey Matt, how you doing today? Oh, hanging in there. Hanging in there, man. What do you got, buddy? I hope you can hear me.
I hope you can hear me all right. I'm in. driving down the road using my truck speaker, so Anyway, I just wondered if you had an opinion on Kim Clement. Who? Kim Clement?
I don't know. He was the guy that claimed to be a prophet. Oh, I have no idea. Oh, okay. Yeah, he was real big back.
He died back in the uh nineties, I believe, and uh There was a lot of hoopla about him last fall, about a prophecy he made that a fall in the fall politically wise. That that came and went. I didn't see no big falcon, but I just thought maybe you might know something about him. No, um I don't. Maybe Charlie does, 'cause Charlie's better uh he works with me at Carm, he's better at at remembering individuals and things like that than I am.
But no, I don't recall him. I probably have talked about him sometime in the years past, but I. I don't recall anything. You know, so sorry, just I don't. That's interesting.
No, it's all right. I appreciate you giving me the time, brother.
Alright, sounds good.
Okay, brother, God bless. All right. Now let's get the day from North Carolina. Dave, welcome. You're on the air.
Thanks, Matt. Hey, interesting you meant talking about flat earth people that believe in the flat earth. Just about a week ago, I was on a road trip with a colleague. talking about flat earth and it's it before that hadn't come up in A decade or more, you know, just something I've never heard of. But my comeback to him was.
Well, as if it was a flat earth. And it was the dome principle. If you turn the light on somewhere in that dome, Wouldn't it be light everywhere on that flat surface? An old circle. The response is this, well, the sun is like a flashlight.
So, you know, they'll say there's an access point in the middle of the dome. An imaginary access point, and the sun and the moon rotate around them. They can't explain what keeps them in place. They can't explain how centripetal force is countered because the gravitational mass isn't strong enough and you know, the physics doesn't work. They can't explain that.
But uh y they'll say, No, the sun is like a flashlight. And I say, okay, then let me get answer this, or ask this, and if the sun's a a flashlight, which is only shines on that side of the round flat surface at what we call night, and it comes back around on the other side, then why is it we can see this the moon all the time in the day and the night? If they're both spheres, why can we see the moon? Is it not a flashlight? It's Yeah, you're right.
It was tough for me because I find myself. Prepared as a Christian to be able to try and defend Christianity and stuff like that. You know, see, and you give us a lot to talk about in your show, which I appreciate you for doing that, right? If a Mormon comes knocking on your door, Jehovah's Witness, and so forth, but to all of a sudden to be confronted by a flat earther, which totally caught me off guard, and it really didn't tie into my whole Christianity thing, anyways, right?
So I'm like, oh, I could care less you're a flat earther or not. But to be caught off guard to not be able to. Even try and defend the round earth concept. Like, wow, I really feel defenseless. I didn't have much to go on other than the light concept.
I've got an it's nice having that ammunition.
So I do appreciate you for the Christianity. Hey, we got a break, so hold on, man. Hold on, okay. Hey, folks, be right back after these messages. Please stay tuned.
It's Matt Slick Live, taking your calls at 877-207-2276. Here's Matt Slick. All right, everybody, and welcome back to the show at the bottom of the hour. If you want to give me a call, we have nobody online waiting. 877-207-2276.
And maybe I'll go through a little bit more on the flat earth stuff. Uh, the caller was absolutely correct. You would be able to see the sun from all angles on the flat earth model. Uh, you would. And the natural nations they give are just oh man, are so bad.
Here's some more stuff. If if you are in the northern hemisphere, when you look at the north star, it's called Polaris. And if you were to take a camera at night, put it up and point it right at Polaris, what you would see if you were to take a picture every few seconds, click and then you just wait and then you put them all together, you'd see the circle of the stars moving around Polaris. You see the constellations in different places around that.
Well, if the earth is flat then all people should see the same North Star, Polaris. But you don't. People in the southern hemisphere see not Polaris, but what's called crooks. That's the star they see down there on the southern hemisphere. This only works in a a model of the Earth that's sphere.
See, these are so simple. To refute, I mean, to establish and show why flat earth is just, it just doesn't work. It just doesn't work. It's very simple to do. Just stuff like that.
So is uh there's that. And um Then imagine this. Remember that model I gave you where you have a dome? and the Sun and the Moon are near the top center of the dome. They're of equal size.
Why do we know do we know they're equal size? because it looks like they're equal size. when you look up, they're the same size. That's how you know. It's a It's a fallacious form of empiricism.
And so Okay, so imagine in this dome that the sun and the moon are there. And uh And stuff then. And and they circle around each other on the horizontal.
So the dome is flat. And imagine in this, excuse me, the dome, but the earth is flat, and imagine in the center of the earth a vertical line is going up. It's just an imaginary line. It goes up to where the dome is.
Well, around that vertical line, to one side would be the moon, and the other side would be the sun. And they're the same size as they spin around that axis.
Now, Centrifugal force is the effect when you take a ball and tie it on the end of a rope and then swing it around your. Your head, you know, over and swinging it. The faster you go, the more energy it's there on the ball. And that's why it stays out like that. You need a force counteracting it.
to keep it going in a circle and the force counteracting it is is the rope.
Well If you have the Earth and the Moon moving around each other, what is holding them together?
Now they're going to have to say it's gravity. But then when you do the mass On the gravitational attraction and things like this of the moon and the sun. It just doesn't work. There's not enough mass between them. But of course it's all conspiracy at that point because the people who know the truth they tweak the equations so that it looks like they're correct.
It's really ridiculous.
Now, in this same model where the sun and the moon go around that vertical line, that imaginary vertical line. They don't go down over the the horizon underneath the earth.
So then how do you have a sunrise and sunset? I mean How do you have a sunrise and sunset? And yet you have a sunrise and sunset.
So I've been told by some that the dome is more like a sphere and the dome itself is now rotating. The dome itself is rotating. And that the sun and the moon are embedded in the dome. And the dome moves and that's why the sun appears to go down on the other side of the earth. And then it goes it on one side, and then it goes down underneath the earth on the flat side and then comes up.
And uh On the other side, this is the explanation. I said, okay, so.
So let me get this straight.
So it's a dome in which the sun is embedded. and the dome is moving around the earth. along with the stars, that rotated a different direction around Polaris, while the sun itself is moving another direction going under the earth. Is that what you're explaining to me? And then it They say I'm dumb, I don't understand physics.
And I say, okay, that's interesting, it's interesting. And I say, okay, well, what about? What about Oh the the The The pictures from space. Those are CGI.
Okay.
What about the astronauts who say they've been oh, they're uh in cahoots with NASA?
Okay.
What about the other countries who've sent satellites up? and astronauts up and they say the same thing.
Well, they're also part of it, the deception. And what's the purpose of the deception? for money. to get control of money and to control our minds. And now, here's the thing: if you and your friend develop a conspiracy, theory and you're going to do something.
if it's just you two Then you can pretty much keep it under wraps, and there won't be anybody getting out, and you know, word won't get out to keep it just to.
Now What if you have thousands upon thousands and thousands of people? who are part of this conspiracy. Would it be the case that some of them would come forward and say, Hey, you know what? It's all a conspiracy. It's all for this deception reason, blah, blah, blah.
But you don't hear that. It's really difficult when you have a mass conspiracy going on. that people don't come up and and take, you know what, it's all the conspiracy. You don't have that, you don't see that. Also, there's a test that was done by Flat Earthers.
I love this test. They um They bought, they got money together, $20,000, $30,000, $40,000, whatever it was. They bought a gyroscope. And I was reading about this and um This gyroscope had its own power supply so it could be carried And they carried it on a plane, and they got permission. They did all this stuff.
and they wanted to take a flight, a series of flights around the world. You know, because they're going to show how the gyroscope, because the Earth is really flat, it's going to stay horizontally consistent. It won't arc, it won't turn, uh the axis won't turn. because the earth is flat.
So they did all this stuff and they got on the plane, they got the tickets, the whole bit. I think a couple of guys did this. And um get this really expensive gyroscope and they were in the plane. and after a few hours they noticed that the arc was changing. just as if they're going around a globe.
And it actually changed. The whole The whole time. It actually rotated and came back to the starting point, you know, and they got back to America.
So, this kind of stuff, I remember reading about that, and when you asked the flat earthers about that. You know, but it's a f you know, the machine was wrong. There was a problem with the the machinery. You know, it's just. I actually want to go to a Flat Earth convention.
I do. To me, it's like going to a new age convention. I love going to New Age conventions. Oh, they don't have many more, but man, they're good. Oh man.
people putting crystal rocks to their foreheads to see if they're in tune with the the crystal uh frequency. Putting candles in your ears, you know, and drive, and putting lights on in sunglasses that you put over your eyes, and they alternate really fast, and that helps balance your left and right brain hemispheres. You know, all kinds of fun stuff. It's like, are you serious? And so it's better than Disneyland.
It is. If someone said, Would you want to go to a New Age convention or Disneyland? New Age convention? That's it. I mean, that that's it's just better.
I took a professor from seminary there to one once, and we got back, and he goes, Man, that was awesome! You couldn't believe some of the stuff. I remember um a woman was in a booth and it was a man sitting in a chair and he was sitting straight up with his feet flat on the ground, his hands on his uh thighs. and she was at his feet, uh blowing negative energy away from him. And I was, you know, I'm like, well, where should Blind get to?
That booth over there?
Well, that's not fair. Just stuff like that.
So, I would like to go to a new, a flat earth convention. I wouldn't cause any problems, but I'd just love to see some of the argumentation. I just think it'd be interesting. And I don't even know. Why see where let's see Where Hold on a sec.
Where and when is the next Flat Earth uh conference Um slash meeting. Let's see. I'm going to see if it's going to come up with something here. Little bit before we get to the break, and we have nobody waiting. If you want to give me a call, 877-207-2276.
Ooh Atlanta, Georgia Uh march 19th and 21st. of this year. Academic session rather than a believer convention focusing on the visual, cultural, photographic use within the flat earth community. Woo! That sounds like good.
And then, um, Flat Earth networking. and then the avant-garde Belgian jazz ensemble. Oh, that guy jazz drives me crazy. To me, jazz is just a bunch of guys twitting at their instruments, and then when they're done, they take a bow and everybody collapses. I'm like, what happened?
So that's what jazz is to me.
So, uh It's all fake bullshit. That's it. How about that?
Well, maybe. Never know. All right, folks, there you go. We got one call coming in. If you want to call me, 8772-0722-0722.
76 be right back after these messages, please stay tuned. It's Matt Slick Live, taking a call at 877-207-2276. Here's Matt Slick. All Robertie, welcome back to the show. Let's get to Becky from North Carolina.
Becky. Welcome you on the air. Hello? Are you there? Yes, I am.
Hello. Hi.
Okay.
So I don't know if you covered this in your flat earth discussion because I was losing the radio signal a little bit. All right. But I always say, how would they explain when a ship is sailing out to sea? how the top of it is what you see last. Its lensing occurs because the atmosphere bends like.
So so they're saying that lensing happens all the time? Yeah, it it bends it the same way. And that's why you gradually see it move down like that over the horizon, because it the earth is still flat, but you see the bending of light due to the surface water area Metamorphous tension from the unicorn forehead. I don't know. Okay.
Also, are you familiar with temperature inversion? Yeah. So there's different kinds, and there's one where the cold air is at the surface and the warm air is aloft. And it causes crystals so that there's a bend so you can actually see beyond the horizon and the horizon rises up. And that is a rare phenomenon, so it's not something that happens all the time.
So how would they explain temperature inversion?
Well, they might. I don't know how they I never asked you about that. They probably Would say it's just part of the flat earth reality where the inversions occur and you can see things far away. Yeah, it's because they're not very logical. They're not very logical people.
No, it's not. No, it's not. And I would say The reason we know that Earth is not flat is because cats would have knocked everything off of it by now. That is true. That is true.
I got some cats. They like to do that. That is so true. That is true. Yep.
Okay, all right.
Well, God bless, thanks. All right. God bless, am I?
Okay.
All right, so since this is a different kind of a show today, I went in to AI and I asked it to produce some puns, some jokes about Flat earth, and it's got like Eight or nine.
So I'm going to read them to you. Slowly. These are bad. They're like dad jokes, okay? Uh the flat earther sphere.
Well, they have nothing to fear but Yeah. You get it? Nothing to fear, but sphere itself, a sphere. I like that one. That's good.
You need a drum roll. Travel plans. How does a flat earther travel? on a plane.
Now some of you may not know, a plane is defined by three points.
So any flat surface is also called a plane. That's just in physics, so that's that's that's a joke off of that. Um Let's see, the inevitable conclusion. I debated a flat earther once. He eventually got so mad he stormed off.
I'm not worried though. He'll come around. Yeah, I like that. See, these are these are bad dad jokes. These are kind of stuff like that, but uh, flat earthers.
Let's see, finding a common ground. I tried to argue with a flat earther, but we just weren't on. a level playing field. Uh let's see. Why are flat earthers so unreliable?
Because they're never around and uh What's the Flat Earther's favorite gum? Spherement And let's see. Oh, these are horrible. The Flat Earth Society recently claimed they have members all around the globe. Hmm.
And uh It's a global conspiracy, that's right. The edge of the glory, see why did the flat earther cross the road to prove there was an edge on the other side? And last one, what's the difference between a flat earther and a pencil? The pencil has a point. Yes.
Okay, there you go. I used to be a flat earther, but I turned my life around. The earth means the world to me. Geography is where it's at, but geology rocks.
So, puns and bad stuff.
So, those of you, if you're turning in, this is your first time hearing this. This is not normally what we do. We just got into the flat earth issue, and people have enjoyed the conversation. I'm a Christian apologist, and I answer all kinds of questions about theology and science and. Religions and stuff like that.
Hey, let's get to. Oh, let's see. Here we go. Patrick from North Carolina. Patrick, welcome.
You're on the air. Hi, Matt, and Happy New Year. Yeah, thank you. You too.
So what do you got, buddy? Um You know, you're talking about the flat earth. Are you familiar with the Artemis I missions? I've heard of them. They're satellite stuff.
Uh Artemis One went to the moon last year. And now in February, the early part of February, supposedly, Artemis two is going to go to the moon with astronauts. But If you search Artemis I best picture of the Earth, What do you get when you search that on Google?
Well, you get a picture of the Earth, but it's a. The Flat Earthers would say it's a conspiracy. That's all. It's just CGI. Yeah, but if you searched it now, Artemis I, Best Picture of the Earth, do you get a picture black and white of the Earth?
Oh, you do? Best picture of the year. I'm searching it right now. Let's see what comes up, okay. But if it does come up.
So the earth Yeah. Uh one of the most iconic images, yeah. Earthrise.
So it's black and white, the picture you're looking at that Artemis I took, and Artemis I had twelve cameras on it.
Okay.
Yeah. And why did Artemis One only take a black and white picture when we're in? with high definition these days. I don't understand that.
Well, it depends what kind of camera it is, and we have to look at to see if those cameras are designed for. For um For taking a picture of the earth because Positionally, if the sun is behind the earth, it's going to cause the Um The photo To be less colorful and less pristine because the light of the sun is overshadowing the light that would come off the side of the earth facing the camera, which would be at the night time of the earth, and you wouldn't see the colors. That would make sense. Yeah, but the Apollo missions back in the early 70s took a beautiful picture of the earth in color. Yes, and that's because the earth was uh they were between the sun and the earth at that point.
So I'm not I'm just saying I don't know what the facts about that picture the abolitionist took? They had to have the Photoshop artists redo the picture. Yeah, I don't know. Ar do you believe in a flat earth? Yeah, I kind of I'm leaning more towards that because.
Um, this Art of Mus two mission, it's going to take off in Maybe three weeks or something. Um Hoping they come back with the colored picture, otherwise they're gonna have to uh You know, because they could prove flat Earth by just taking a good picture of Earth in color. But they didn't. Wait a minute. If they take a picture of the Earth and they find it's a disk.
Well then why don't I just say it's just CGI?
Well, no, if they get a good picture of it as a globe, then I would say flat Earth is not true. But if they can't get a good picture of the earth in color, then there's something up. Yeah. Well, um I would suggest that uh y you do some research. There's countless ways to refute the idea of flat earth.
And I'm not even a physicist and I can give you some.
Okay, it's not. But you believe A Apollo went to the moon. Yes, I do. Let's get to Jacob from Virginia. Jacob, welcome.
You're on here. Hey, Matt, how are you doing today? Doing all right, man. Hanging in there. Hanging in there.
What do you got? Hey, so, um I have some Uh, my wife's sister is gay, and some of my wife's best best friends are gay. Um. And I'm a Christian, and I'm always Should I keep Like, and I don't embrace it, but I have kids And they know right from wrong, but Should I keep having them over and keep interacting with them? It depends.
Okay.
Let's just start from some extreme. Let's say there was a homosexual wedding. You can't go as a Christian because you can't lend your support to it. Let's say they wanted to spend the night at your house together. in a room in that kind of relationship.
You can't allow that either. Not in your house. Right.
So, what happens if a single person who is, let's say, lesbian, comes over, but you welcome that person into your house and just talk to them? Oh my god. I don't see a problem with that. In fact, we have someone who comes in the house every now and then who's going through transition from female to male.
Okay, so I know two people in my area. uh who are that way and um stuff. And when they come over by themselves, I have no problem. Come on in. Come on in.
And and I just love on 'em. properly, biblically. And try and show them Christian love, but I will never approve of it and I will never support it. I would never do anything to help them in their sin.
So, as long as I'm not helping them in their sin, Then I can say, come on over, we can have something to eat if you want, or whatever. But I'm not going to help them in their sin or approve of it. And that, where does that help, where does that line draw?
Well, that that's between you and your s your spouse and God and trying to figure it out.
Okay.
Okay, that's kind of pretty much what I do. And do you have time for one quick question? Sure, sure. Another one?
So I I was talking to this guy yesterday. He thinks he's some sort of historian or something. I don't know. And I asked him if he was a believer. And he said that he kind of has like, I guess, like the Buddhist outlook, like everybody's God is.
He takes like all the scriptures or And they're all kind of the same kind of thing. And he was trying to tell me that. We got to the timeline of Jesus and He was trying to say that, um, the Koran had, um was like written Like right on, right when it happened, and that Jesus, it took him. What? forty, sixty years or something?
No, no, no, no. The Quran is written 600 years after the time of Christ. Yeah, 600 years. Just uses as a broad number. About 600, some say 550, just say whatever we'd say six.
It's a general thing. And so the New Testament documents were written by those who are either eyewitnesses of Christ or the scribes of eyewitnesses.
So Mark was of Peter, Luke was with Paul, and Paul actually encountered Jesus at 1 Corinthians 9:1. And so, um, eyewitnesses and stuff like that.
So, I was trying to tell him there, because he was trying to say the opposite. And he was also trying to say that the coron didn't Doesn't promote violence. And I was like, I was like, I haven't read it, but I'm pretty sure it does. Absolutely, it does. In fact, let me read right out of the Quran.
Surah. Here we go, Sura 9. This is Surah 9.5. A surah means chapter. Then, when the sacred months have passed, slay the idolaters wherever you find them.
And when you go to verse uh twenty-nine, it's called an ayat. It says in verse 29, come on, where's the number? Fight. The word fight, I was told by a native speaker of Arabic, the word fight in this verse means fight to kill. fight uh against Such of those who have given who have been given the Scriptures as believe not in Allah nor the Last Day.
Nord forbid that and forbid that which Allah hath forbidden.
So Forbid not what he's forbidden.
So we have in Surah 5 and Surah 29, the admonitions to kill. And also, remember, there's a break. I mean, we're in the show. Look up this website, the religionofpeace.com. All one word, thereligionofpeace.com.
Calling back tomorrow, take a look at it. Oh, it's eye-opening. All right, buddy. God bless. All right.
Thank you, sir.
Okay.
Hey folks, we're out of time. May the Lord bless you by His grace. We'll be back on here tomorrow. And we'll talk to you then. Have a great evening.
God bless. Another program powered by the Truth Network.
