This is the Truth Network. Kingdom Pursuits, where you hear from ordinary people instilled with an extraordinary passion. Together we explore the stories of men and women who take what they love and let God turn their passion into kingdom pursuits.
Now, live from the Truth Booth, your host, Robbie Dilmore. Good morning and welcome to Kingdom Pursuits. I am not Robbie Dillmore. I'm Jerry Mathis, Christian Body Shop Guy from the Christian Car Guy Radio Show from Ray's Body Shop and Wrecker Service. I'm filling in for Robbie this morning.
He's on a men's retreat, so I get to slide over to this hour for. For just a short time, and always grateful to be able to do it. And we're going to have an exciting show this morning. And I'm going to start out by reading something that I read last hour on on Christian Car Guy Radio just because of Father's Day. It's Father's Day weekend.
And I'm going to read from Proverbs 27. A righteous person acts with integrity. His children who come after him will be happy. And I That that's I save that verse because that's a verse that I had kind of done a deep dive a few years ago. What is that, a Father's Day?
That doesn't sound much like a Father's Day verse until you think about it. And then one of the things that I put a note on that I did uh had outside of that verse was someone once said, When it comes to raising kids, More is cultur then thought. And taught, I mean taught. More is taught Then taught. And I thought What does that m In other words, Your example means more than your words.
Live with integrity and your kids will see that you are real. I think we as Christians need to make sure that we live our life and represent Jesus Christ not just on Sunday mornings. It needs to be It needs to be twenty-four Hours a day, seven days a week. And I think our kids see through that. And then another verse that I love, just gonna say this is another Father's Day verse that may not seem like the one that you would want to, doesn't seem warm and fuzzy.
Colossians three, twenty one Fathers do not provoke children. lest they become discouraged. And uh I've I'm gonna read off of the the living standard, which is Fathers don't scold your children so much that they become discouraged and quit trying.
Okay. Those verses mean a when I sit there and I just think about that. as a father, And as you have kids and stuff, is you know what, we need to be an encouragement to our kids, and we also need to include them in our life. and stuff. And in so many ways we don't do that.
But this morning, one of the things I want to talk about is: first of all, wish everybody happy Father's Day. Got a couple of things, going to have a couple call-ins this morning, but also I want to just talk about men's. and men's ministry. I got three guys sitting in front of me who are part of my Wednesday morning group that we get together in Western Salem at Omega House every Wednesday morning. And Do a quick devotion, but the biggest thing is we get together and kind of share life together and talk.
And my question is, so I didn't didn't give anybody the the heads up that the first question I'm gonna ask them is What does that group mean to you? And I'm going to start with Scott. I'm going to let you introduce yourself. And then just tell me what that group means to you.
Okay, throw me right out here. I'm gonna you first want to. He's the newest member to the Wednesday morning group, so I'm gonna throw him in the fire right off the bottom. There you go, but at least I know who's with me holding my hand in that fire. My name is Scott Huthcocks.
I'm originally from High Point. I've been a member at Pinedale now. about a year and a half. And uh one of uh the other members who comes with us on Wednesday morning and I went to lunch one day and he was telling me about what Jerry's doing and and has been doing for about, I guess, thirty years almost. But he mentioned just that it's really not, we don't focus so much.
Um, too much biblical, just enough that we have something that we can all share with each other. And I have never in my life uh taken the time That I'm doing now, spending time with the Lord and doing my Bible studies, like I'd be honest with you, I never thought I would do. But I found that when we get together with other men and share, You you find out that the c when you have other Christian men around you, and there's a common interest in knowing the Lord and knowing His Word. and understanding how to live your life, Because it's it's you know, you can read the Bible all you want, but if you're not acting out what it requests that you do, um you're missing the whole point. And so my first day I can remember coming in, and one of the other elders at our church usually sat, I guess, where I grabbed the chair and sat down.
And I thought at first he may not like me because I had taken his seat. But turns out This is the most diverse group of gentlemen I've ever been around. And I've been around quite a few characters in my life. But it just gives you a sense of. Being able to talk about things that you normally couldn't talk to other people about, even your friends, because you're always trying to portray this image.
And when you get around other gentlemen, Who are who are Expressing the concerns they have in life and also sharing with you the trials and tribulations that they're dealing with. it allows you to open up. and to share. And it it's just amazing what it does to fulfill your heart and and give you a sense of peace and joy that you've got somewhere to go on Wednesday mornings. And and I use it sort of as my midweek break.
It's a great thing to keep me focused on how I'm living. the things I'm saying, the things I'm doing. And so it's been a real blessing. If any of you have a chance to get in involved with a group, I suggest you do it because it's a great place. And being with other men, you find out that you're not alone at all.
Even though the Lord's with you all the time, these guys are struggling just as much as we are.
So. Anyway, that's who I am and That's a little bit of my story. All right, Jerry. I'm Jerry from Wahlberg. I've been at Pinedale about three decades and been involved with this.
breakfast group that kind of come out of men's groups that went to Early met at football fields and those things around the country, some of those through Pinedale, and then been with this. What does it mean? Yeah, it's uh church in the middle of the week. It's a group of men who Speak their hearts and minds very open, and that's something with men in America today that's just not. very common.
We tend to kind of want to hold it all in and take care of things on ourselves. And we find that uh we get together that We're all dealing with a lot of the same problems. We have men in a group that have lost spouses, and we have those that are. facing other difficulties and it's just nice to be able to go in there and let your Just let your hair down, so to speak, and of course we've always got a good breakfast in with that. And uh some Wednesdays we have a lot of laughter, but it's just a good time to share and relate and tie in.
Yeah. Hello, my name is Tim Bowman. And I've been with the group for Oh, I I don't know, off and on about What? Almost 30 years? Yeah, something like that.
I don't know. It's been a long time, but. I love getting together with all the guys because I'll tell you, it's so good on a of midweek, like you said. And just to share. other people's views and Sometimes praises I know I had a scare uh a couple of weeks ago and I tell you, I I I had no boundary.
I uh had oxygen. I I thought I was a goner, to be honest with you. You know, it's just I give God the glory because, again, I'm here, I'm talking on the radio like I love to do, because this is my life. I work at another radio station here in Winston. And again, I love doing this and I love sharing because it went for God.
I would not be here. And again, if you don't have God in your life, It it's hard. It's hard to live. And again, I'm living proof. That God, there is a God.
And that's all I can really say. I'm just thankful for being here and hanging out with these guys and have been for years. Yeah, me and Jerry's been been friends for a long time and Again, it's uh I just love being with the guys. It's a lifting, harder, harder lifting, and then you can. Speak your peace and again, it's all good.
It's all good then. All right, we'll be back in just a moment on Kingdom Pursuits. Again, if we'd love to hear your story, 866-348-7884. You're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com. Yeah.
Woo! Welcome back to Kingdom Pursuits. Again, I'm Jerry Mathis, Raid Body Shop and Wrecker Service, Christian Body Shop guy from Christian Cargai Radio. This morning, one of the things we're talking about was also celebrating Father's Day, but also we just want to talk about men and men's group and stuff. And I'm going to throw this question out there, and Jerry will probably have a better connection to this than maybe Tim and Scott.
You know, it kind of When you start doing groups with men, And you know what? You can probably get them together to play pickup basketball or something, but when it comes time to get them to slow down. You know, we do, as Scott mentioned, we don't spend a lot of time in scripture, but we do spend Enough, and we encourage everybody to be in scripture. But in the morning that we get together, it's kind of a quicker devotion, but it leads into. Christian conversation.
Great discussion. The world we live in now Well, it's always been this way. The first thing that people always say is you can't get a a men's group will not get traction. And we've been meeting together over 30 years and I guess we did get traction. But there has been times doing that where you kind of can kind of get discouraged and you think maybe it's ran its cycle because I can tell you.
Jerry, what, ten years ago, 15 years ago, I really thought. I mean, I'd even told Myra, I said, this is You know, Bob Plunkett had passed away, was a big part of our group and stuff. And I said, this is probably the. Time for this gives me the opportunity to bring this to a halt. And then all of a sudden, new people showed up, and it had a new energy, and it was a different type of energy.
And I think sometimes if we just listen to what God tells us instead of letting ourselves, I mean, I was talking myself into. Dissolve it and not meeting on Wednesday morning. Then all of a sudden, God said, I got a different plan. And me and Jerry have talked about that. It's just, you know what?
God will do that and bring people, but you just have to be. You got to. got to be faithful to it and you've got to be Diligent that you just don't give up easily. And what are your thoughts on it? And that was my question.
What Well yeah, I remember back there were mornings we would be there and there'd be three people, be six people one week and we would think, Wow, well this'll pick up some day and it went that way for years. And then we brought in Started inviting folk in, and we got in some individuals we didn't even think would be interested. They're there every week. It's just amazing. You're right.
And we've had a lot of hurts and heels over the times. You know, like we talked earlier, some of these men have lost spouses over time. Of course they come in and share and I know they get ministered to. They bring in a lot of what's going on in their lives outside of the breakfast to what we have there. It's just a uh real neat time just to go in like like I said earlier to let your hair down and just just listen and talk and Those kind of things.
And it's a group of people that you can count on. Which isn't found everywhere in society today. And I know we've talked many times, there's men in that group that, if you needed a ride somewhere, I've had to ask. need help with something. just need to pull them aside when it's over and talk about something.
They're just there. with listening ears and willing to give advice and there's a lot of good advice in that group. Yeah, and as you mentioned, I mean, I think sometimes God places people there because we had a gentleman that came in. Pretty Fresh from losing his wife and spouse. And then it's kind of a.
I don't know. It's not Amazing is probably the wrong word, but just encouraging because then it wasn't long after that we had two more gentlemen in our group lost their spouse. And I was just so encouraged and so uplifting for me. And I think for those around, saw how they were able to gravitate to the one who had. Been down that road, and how they were willing to open up and share with them and encourage with them.
And I think that's what. That's what we all need to do. And I hope when Scott walks in as the newbie back a few months ago, that's how Tim and I, when we first met. He was talking about one of the things he was asking the group to do was pray for his mom. He's taking care of his mother.
And he's sort of the lone caregiver for her. And I had taken care of my mom for the last 14 years of her life. She lived to be 97. And immediately after we had met, I just started talking to Tim a little bit. And we were more, I guess, talking about just the r his radio show and and the stuff he was involved in and that we had you know uh common interest in.
But the real impact was being able to share with him what I had been through by taking care of my mom and both of my sisters who were unable to help out at the time and the anger that I had. Uh and how I overcame that. Um Just to be able to share that with him let off A weight of the world off of my shoulders. And you don't realize that, but when you do get together with guys and you just share, that's the one thing about our scripture is when we read that scripture, it always leads into phenomenal conversation and ideas. And the next thing you know, you know, we've been there an hour and 45 minutes because we're still talking about things.
But it was great because Tim and I have become close. And when he had his episode with the hospital, that was the first thing I thought of was reach out to him. And if I were on the other end of that, I'm sure he would do that for me. And that's one of the great things of our group together.
So, you know, like I said, and Jerry, you're right. It's a whole different thing when you bring in new people, and it is a growing thing, just like, you know. Jesus's church, he always said, That small groups, I mean, if you think about it, there's the core group with him alone, and then you've got your maybe three or four really close people in your life. that he wants you to share things with. He he had his three disciples, you know, before he was crucified, that he, you know, pretty much let them know everything that was going on, and he didn't share that with all the other twelve.
So To get together with a group of about 12 to 15 is considered like a team. And that's sort of what I think when I get together on Wednesday: these guys, you know, they got my back to an extent. I don't expect them to come, you know, mow my lawn for me. But wait a second here now, Aida. I wonder if I can get into that.
No, Jerry, we're not going to. But anyway, the great thing is that you've got someone that you can share with. You've got someone that you can depend on to be there. And it's something I had never experienced.
So for me, I don't know. I've been there every Wednesday since I started, and it's like I don't know what I'd do if I didn't. It would be truly just like not sharing the time with the Lord in the morning that I try to every morning for at least an hour or two. Lucky in my life that I'm able to spend that time. But uh anyway, the the twelve I mean, the 12 people involved in our group, we can pretty much steadily say there'll be 12 people there now.
So I can't imagine what it was like a few years back when there weren't three or six. It reminds me of the 12 disciples. It does. Real quick, I'm going to stop you because we do have Caitlin calling in. Caitlin Dry.
Caitlin, can you hear me? I can hear you. Did we get you woke up early this morning? Oh, yeah, I'm here. I got coffee in my hand.
All right.
Well, I wish we had a cup of coffee right now, but hey. I'm going to tell you what. Before I even go in and get you to mention a show that you have going on tonight, I just want to take the opportunity to just say. this because I don't know, I'd like to publicly say it. I mean, I've watched you grow up.
And Man, I'm just proud of you. And proud of Derek, also, and what you're doing and. I can remember you as that little kid running around in the halls of Pinedale and stuff with your dad and stuff, leading music. And man, it's just pretty cool. And we get the opportunity of.
Hey, we get the opportunity of seeing you again tonight. And go ahead and give me the rundown. What do you got going on tonight? Yeah, so we're so excited. We have a Nashville-style writers' round happening at Pinedale Christian Church.
As if you don't know, we live in Nashville, Tennessee, those listening. And this is a very normal thing there, but it's basically where artists are all on stage, you know, kind of in around. And we share the songs and stories of our songs and why they were written. And so tonight, we've been hosting these in North Carolina. This is for the last.
four years. And this is our fifth one that we're doing. And We're so excited to have it at Pinedale. This one is faith-based. And we have our buddy Michael Farron coming from Nashville, Tennessee, and he has had songs, he's written songs for artists from Lauren Daigle to Reba.
To Ben Fuller, Walker Hayes, Lee Bryce, Country, Christian Music. He's just written so many great songs that are on the radio. We have him coming in as our featured Nashville artist with us, and then we are highlighting a local husband-wife duo, Gray and Crystal Steadman, who Gray also grew up in Pinedale. And he is now the worship leader at Salem Chapel in Winston-Salem. And we're just so excited.
It's going to be a great night of music and songs and stories and Just a really cool intimate setting, you know, acoustic guitars and it's just gonna be great. Yeah, this on uh earlier show, Christian Car Guy Radio, when I was doing it, I said it'd be a great opportunity for you to take your father. Come out and enjoy Father's Day and a great evening. And you can go on I guess you can still go online and purchase your ticket and print them. But also, you can purchase your ticket or admission at the door.
So if you don't have a ticket, man, and if it's a last-minute decision, come on down and Join us for a night that'll be full of blessings and just be a great night, I can tell you that. Yep, and doors open at six o'clock and the show will start at seven. It's going to be, it's just going to be special. I mean, Michael Farron has this song. He mentioned Fathers.
He has a song called Checking In that for King and Country and Lee Bryce did together. And it is the ultimate Father's Day song. And I'm like, I've already told Michael, I'm like, you know, I'm requesting this song. You have to do it tonight. Come for prayer.
Yep, I just know that people will be blessed by the music tonight from all three of us. Like, we all have songs that we've. you know, spent time and years writing and we're just excited to share them tonight with people.
Alrighty, and we're going into a break, and I hate it. I tell you what, Caitlin, I'm gonna get you to make a commitment to me. You and Derek make a commitment that one Saturday morning, I'm gonna be able to spend the whole time on Kingdom Pursuit and just do an interview with you, okay? You gonna commit to it? We would love it.
We'll do it.
Alrighty, and tonight, Pinedale Christian Church, 3395 Peters Creek Parkway. Raising a hallelujah. You're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com. Welcome back to Kingdom Pursuits. Again, if you have a question for men's ministry or any of the men with me this morning, give us a call, 866-348-7884.
Or if you'd like information on the Raising Hallelujah concert tonight at Pinedale Christian Church, and Winston Salem at 3395 Peters Creek Parkway. And again, admission at the door if you don't already have your tickets. It'll be an awesome night and it'll be a great night to take your dad out for an evening that will be an uplifting time and stuff.
So I encourage you, if you're in the area, don't have plans tonight, come out and join us. Also, I just want to take a moment because I didn't do this the first hour. I'm going to acknowledge the fact that when I come in here on Saturdays, and I usually come in sometimes. Squealing in the parking lot as I come rolling in here. Man, when I walk in the door and I see Nick sitting in there, man, that brings comfort to my soul because he can make it happen.
And Nick, I'm going to ask you, I'm going to put you on the air here, get your mic, roll it around here, because I'm going to ask a question. I'm going to ask all these guys to tell me a. Father's Day Memory. And as I, I don't know if you're ready, Nick, I'll let you go first. Or I'll tell you what, I'll go first and give everybody a second to think about it.
As I shared the first hour, my Father's Day memory were back when I was growing up. One of the things I always remember: my dad was a worker. I mean, he believed you just work, work, work, and it was. It was just rigid and strict and But one thing we would always do, we'd go to church on Sunday morning, come home, and then Ray would load up the vehicle, and we'd go to Polyams. and eat hot dogs sitting outside and then watching the planes take off from Smith Reynolds Airport.
And I tell Mark all the time, who owns Williams Hot Dogs, I said, that's one of the memories that when I walk through the doors of that building, I always think about that. It's a memory that I have that I cherish and stuff because that was when we had time to just slow down and we talked. And then the other memory is probably the best time relationship and probably one of the most rewarding times was probably the last few weeks of Ray's life because not doing well. And as I said, he grew up, he was he was he was strict. And and that part where it says, don't be too strict, you'll discourage your children, I could put his name in there because that was just that was his DNA.
But for the last few days of his life. I was able to just take time to say, you know what? I you were my father. I love you. I respect you.
I hope you and I felt like you loved me even though we didn't always share that or or show that. And there was times I was very frustrated with him. I'm sure he was frustrated with me. But As we had that conversation, Myra was with me and I leaned over and I said, but none of that's important. I just need to know, do you know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior?
And his eyes had been closed for three days. He could mumble and answer, but his eyes opened up. and looked at me and as plain as day said, I do. I'm okay. And that was a memory that I'll cherish.
And So that's my two memories, and now I'm going to throw it to Nick over there. I want to hear Nick's story. Man, you put me on the spot. You know. A memory that um I'm kind of going to stir a little bit different from the question that you asked because.
This Father's Day is different for me. because this is the first year that I don't have my father. My father, he passed away earlier this year. Um, Super Bowl weekend. And it's different that I'm not going to be able to, you know, give him a call and tell him that, you know, I appreciate him, that he was the reason that I'm living in this world today.
But I will say, you know, A cool thing about it is, I have a stepdad or a bonus dad, you know?
So a memory with him is just, you know, I cooked for when I was in high school. I cooked for him one time. I'm not a good cook. He's the good cook, but I cook for him, and you know. We bonded a little bit and that That's the part that helped us build the relationship that we have now.
And I'm very grateful that I have my bonus dad. And I'm also grateful that my actual father, he is resting. You know, and he is, he's looking down at me, and I know he's proud of me. He said it all the time when he was here. But yeah, this one's a little bit different for me, but I'm still very.
I'm proud of who my dad was. Yeah. Thank you, Nick. I appreciate you.
Okay, Scott, we're going to throw it to you. All right.
Well, I lost my dad in 2004. I was about 44, getting ready to turn 45 years old. He was a prisoner of war in World War II in Germany. He was shot down on September 11th. nineteen forty four, and spent eleven months in a POW camp in northern Germany.
And uh Anyway, was liberated. From POW camp on August 14th, 1945. which ended up being my birthday, August fourteenth, and uh mine was in fifty nine and not forty five. But they spent years uh trying to have children, my parents, and they adopted my two older sisters. and then built a home in 1958.
And I showed up a year later. And so My father and I had a very unique relationship, me being his only son, and also the fact that he was an avid golfer. On every Sunday, we would go to Sunday school, and my mom would get the girls, and they'd come back and go to church. And we would pass them on the way out because we were leaving to go to Blair Park golf course in High Point so he could play golf. And he would take me with him because all I really wanted to do was drive the golf cart.
I mean, I was like, you know, nine, ten years old, so that was my main interest. Didn't really want to learn to play golf too much, but that was one of the things that we always did together. And it was a time for he and I. You know, to share, for him to share with me about God and the faith that he had while he was a POW. And he never really spoke.
That whole generation just didn't talk about that stuff. But About two, maybe two months before he passed away in 2004, we sat down and he explained to me. what he had been through and some of the things that he had to do to survive. And um I ask him, I'm like, you know, why didn't you tell me this before? And he goes, well, son, you know, at 44, you can probably understand some of this.
You've lived long enough. But when you were 15 or 16, there was no way I was going to share this with you.
So that's a really great memory of mine with him was learning, you know, also that he was a human like me, and it wasn't just my father. He had goals and desires and aspirations that, you know, both of my parents gave up for us to. to have a really wonderful life.
So I miss my dad dearly and happy Father's Day to you, pops. But I know for a fact that he's in heaven. Um that was one of the things that Jerry mentioned. My father was very much a believer in Christ. As I know for a fact, that's who brought him home so that I could be here today.
So yeah, wonderful man. All right, before we go to Jerry, I'm gonna Fonda, got Fonda Brian on the Phone with us calling in this morning. I know you have a training coming up and also, I think, a motorcycle ride is that still on. And I just want you to go ahead and throw those dates out and how we can get in contact with you. And good morning, Fonda.
Good morning, Jerry. How are you doing? I am doing great, and I hope you are too. And also, we're going to, hey, I'm going to ask all of the listeners and people who may know Fond of Be lifting her up in prayer because in the next week or so, you're going to be having knee replacement surgery and going to be out of commission for a while.
So, we're going to be praying for you. Thank you. I'd appreciate it. I was just doing my exercises when you called.
So, my surgery is Tuesday, June 30th. I have a slightly tormeniscus, but I wanted to get my surgery done so I could be back cheering for the Demon Deacons. No deeks. No deeks. I got to get that done.
And I think the 27th, you have an online training coming up. And before we mention that, I just want to just take just a moment to mention one thing. Fonda Brian has got a passion for mental health and suicide prevention. And I encourage you, if you're hearing this, You need to go online to listen to to to this this This training. Also, if you are a church group or a business or organization, we have volunteers and stuff that are dealing with people.
The online training is awesome and great, but it does not touch. Live training, and I encourage you to get in touch with her and try to set up something where she could come in because it brings it to a different level. And I think Fonda would agree with me on that. And man, Fonda, I just absolutely love you to death.
Well, thank you. Same here, same here.
So, my training is next Saturday, June 27th, from 12 to 2. It is online. I tell everybody there's no registration, but be on time and take the entire two-hour training because I'm not going to do a training in July. I will be back at it in August because I got to, you know, take the month off to try to get back to its full. Fonda, can I call you?
Can you stay online? Because we're going into a break. I'd like to make sure we get that information out before we go off there. Thank you. Yeah.
You're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com. Okay, we're back with Kingdom Pursuits and I have Fonda Bryant on the other line about her training coming up and she was just going into that and telling us how to make sure we get in touch with her and how to get registered. Fonda, go ahead and give us that info again. Yes, so it's next Saturday, June 27th, from 12 to 2 Eastern Standard Time. But if you have listeners outside of the Eastern Standard Time, it's still 12 o'clock, but they have to go by their time, their time zone.
So, anyway, it's from 12 to 2. There's no registration, but I tell everybody to please be on time and take the entire two-hour training so you can get all the information and your certificate at the end of the training.
So, people can email me at Fonda F-O-N-D-A-N-C underscore the number 40 at yahoo.com to get their information so you can register. Also, one of the things that is so important about this training is this month is Men's Health Month and Men's Mental Health Month. And I'm going to tell you, Jerry, what men Y'all guys are really suffering in silence, and it's really sad. And that's something I want to bring into the QPR training in June. Do y'all know, and your listeners, we're losing 600,000 men a year to suicide.
600,000 men a year to suicide. And it's just getting worse, and yet nobody's saying anything. We're losing 12,500 men every week. 1,800 men every day and 75 men every hour. That should make you got a husband, a brother, a cousin, a friend say, hey, you know what?
I need to take that training because we're not all flaming our arms saying, oh my God, I'm going to kill myself. It could be something very subtle. And over six million men Are diagnosed with depression every single year, and very few get help. And we know that depression is the number one disease that can take us down that path.
So it's so imperative for people to get trained because 80% of suicides worldwide and in the United States. are men.
Well One of your last emails I got from you, two things stood out. One was mental health crisis because I think we are in a crisis, and I think we don't realize it sometimes. and education. You know, how do we fight it? It's through education.
It's these types of trainings and stuff. I mean, what I just think if you could spend two hours. doing this training and save one person's life. And you may not even realize that you saved somebody's life, just being there and seeing it. Fonda, what you're doing is amazing work, and I know that you feel God has placed you here for that.
And man, I'm one who is just. extremely thankful for what you're doing.
Well, thank you, and I'm so glad that we connected through our love for the demon beacons. But as I tell everybody, this is important. People are struggling, and there's no face to it. You know, somebody could be standing right beside you in the grocery store, struggling.
So that's why I always tell people in training to be kind. And also, I tell everybody, I want everybody who's listening today to do me a favor. Check on someone today, a friend, a family member, a coworker. Check on them. And if you text them and they text say, hey, how you doing?
And they text you back and they say, I'm straight. I'm okay. I'm all right. God, pick up the phone and call them and say, you sure you all right? You sure you okay?
And be willing to listen without judgment. Because sometimes we don't need y'all to fix stuff.
Sometimes we just need a kind listening ear. Amen. Again, Fonda, thank you for calling in. And again, it is: it's Fonda NC. Underscore 40 at yahoo.com.
Also, her nonprofit website is wellnessactionrecovery.org. And I encourage, if you're listening to this, I encourage you to go online and listen to this next Saturday from 12 to 2. And if you have the opportunity. To bring Fonda in for a live training, reach out to her because it'll be well worth it. Fonda, I love you, and I'll be praying for you that you get recovered because I.
Don't know what I'd do if I didn't see it a football game. I'd be very worried, as you are from me, if I'm running late. Fonda's like, where's Jerry at? And if you're not there, I'm going, where's Fonda at? Exactly.
And I'm looking forward to a great season with the Deeks. And thank y'all guys for all your prayers and supports. But remember, be kind and check on others. It can and will save a life. Absolutely.
Thank you, Fonda. Have a great one. Thank you, you too. Bye-bye. Bye.
All right.
Now we're going to, I do encourage people to go online and go through that training. I'm going to throw the last question out just so we've only got a few minutes to do it. Tim, what would be the one thing with when I say that men need to be there to encourage each other and men need to? Be in God's Word, what would be the what would be the answer to that? What would be your Your take and what would be your message you'd like to relay?
Where other girls do you need to be? With someone. God is there for you. God will never leave you or forsake you. And that's if you don't have anybody.
like myself, my father's gone. But I have a Father in heaven. And one day I'm gonna see my my other father. My real father. I'll see him because I know he's up there.
He's he passed away in in 2010. And uh there you go. Very godly man. You could ask anybody. That that knew my father.
'specially from the old First Assembly. And You know, again, that's yeah, he's in heaven. He's in heaven. And again, you've got to rely on your Heavenly Father. And again, if you don't know your Heavenly Father, if you don't know Him, you can do a simple prayer.
And it's all you gotta do. Jerry, real quick, and also, you gotta do a real quick father memory, real quick. Yeah, my dad grew up in a family where his dad was gone the first year, and His mom had six different husbands and he had decided as a boy He was going to be anything but that. And he met my mom and they were just perfect couple. And growing up, I remember we had drugs.
We were drugged to church every week. And when one parent told us something, that was it. They backed each other up. They loved us, but they. Taught us about God, they taught us to enjoy nature, to fish.
I remember the day we caught 100 fish. We went out fishing in a pond my dad had. Mm.
