The NFL is considering changes to the tush push rule, with some owners pushing for its elimination. Meanwhile, the Washington Capitals' Alexander Ovechkin is closing in on Wayne Gretzky's record for most career goals. In baseball, the use of torpedo bats is gaining popularity, with some players seeing significant improvements in their hitting. The San Francisco 49ers are expected to give quarterback Brock Purdy a massive contract extension, potentially making him the highest-paid player in the league.

It is the JR Sport Brief Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. I'm coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia. Thank you to everybody tuned in all over North America. I hope you've had a tremendous Tuesday. I'll be hanging out with you for the next two hours. The show gets started every weekday at 6 p.m. Eastern, 3 Pacific.

I'm in Atlanta, Georgia. Thank you to you for listening and thank you to our super producer and host Ryan Hickey in New York City. Now we've talked about a lot. The NFL is changing up a few of their rules. We're now going to utilize Hawkeye technology to determine first downs.

No more chain gang. They'll be the backup. Touchbacks have been pushed up so at least or I should say pushed back so we at least we have more of them coming out of the end zone and now we'll have an overtime where both teams will get the football in the regular season and the postseason. Talked about some NBA fight suspensions, the potential of Jon Morant moving on from the Memphis Grizzlies. The New York Giants not feeling pressed to draft a quarterback like Chidor Sanders. The Dallas Cowboys and Jerry Jones being stupid.

What else is new? Jerry Jones says I'm dealing directly with Michael Parsons. I don't even know who his agent is. I don't know if that's going to fare well for Jerry Jones and then also minutes ago how about this?

I was asked about torpedo bats we'll get into that in a second. Alexander Ovechkin just did it again. Minutes ago Alexander Ovechkin scored another goal. Goal number 891. He is now four goals away from passing Wayne Gretzky for the most career goals. Wayne Gretzky has 894.

Alex Ovechkin with his goal a few minutes ago against the Bruins. He now has 891. Gretzky has 894.

That's all time. Ovechkin has 891. So he's three goals away from tying Wayne Gretzky. He is four goals away from owning the record outright.

The Washington Capitals right now they lead the Bruins two to nothing. They just finished up the first period and meanwhile Alexander Ovechkin he has eight games left in the season. So he has eight games to produce three more goals at minimum to tie Wayne Gretzky and four goals to just own the record outright. I think he'll do it.

I mean at the pace that he's going and rolling right now three more goals at minimum to tie Wayne Gretzky I think he's going to go out there and do it. This team the Washington Capitals they end their season their final game is on April 17th it's about two weeks from now they'll be in Pittsburgh on the road that game will be on ESPN and now that you actually uh you take a look their final games I want to say one the two well all the Washington's and hickey all the capital games for the rest of the season they're all nationally televised every single one as they should I mean you never know when you're this close right it could happen in one game one hat trick away it could and so just to think about this at Pittsburgh that final game of the season that'll be on ESPN the game before that uh in or on Long Island. Hickey is it on Long Island or in Long Island? On Long Island. You're on the island. You can't be in Long Island playing the Islanders no no it can't be in it only on it you could be on Long Island playing the Islanders okay uh that's on ESPN the Columbus Blue Jackets they play them twice a home and away those games will be on ESPN there's a Thursday night game against Carolina that'll be on this hickey does that count Disney plus does that count I don't think so yeah yeah Carolina Hurricanes Disney plus and Hulu who cares right and then the other games are here on uh TNT true tv max NHL network hickey I know I don't have that hickey I got all the state I do not have no NHL network I don't that wasn't included in the sports bundle what sports I gotta pay for each one of these individually man oh okay that's actually pretty good deal then yeah what a world it would be if the NHL the NBA and the NBA and the NFL said hey let's just all have uh let's bundle up our stuff cold day in hell right never happening you're right never happened but like a lot of these you know I guess it depends if you have cable or streaming cable packages you know kind of bundle a lot of that stuff oh yeah I don't think I've ever seen a minute of the NHL network even when I had direct tv like I was paying for everything never saw that uh you know what that's not true wait yep yep yeah every game is on it's nationally televised oh no that's not true this game against Boston is on ESPN plus that doesn't count does not count doesn't count and so yeah we only got two more games that aren't on uh you know national tv Chicago on the NHL network once we get to Sunday every single game is going to be available and except for that other one on Disney plus slash Hulu Alexander Ovechkin now four goals away from passing Wayne Gretzky for the most goals all time Wayne Gretzky 894 goals uh Alexander Ovechkin now with 891 hey we'll keep you up to date keep you up to date he has two more periods to go to work there's nothing to say that he doesn't have another goal or two before tonight is up hickey imagine if he imagine if he gets the record tonight imagine if he ties tonight wouldn't that be cool imagine he breaks it five goals let's why not let's just get nuts oh wow damn hickey come on man oh he only that's he only needs four to break the record five goals in total tonight that's that's that's a lot hickey come on man i'm just let's just why not just dream let's get nuts and honestly knowing the nhl and their luck yeah like you just outlined basically every game but this one and one other one's on national tv wouldn't it be their luck that he breaks the record on a game not nationally televised that'd be funny right hilarious that'd be something for baseball it may be uh does does hockey do they have torpedo sticks yet or is that coming soon coming next year no doubt about it we're gonna have torpedo sticks and uh well i guess those are these are the only sports that you can use a stick in baseball and in hockey ain't no sticks and basketball ain't no sticks and football so cricket they got the torpedo cricket paddle yet hickey we barely have cricket in america we got a guy who started a cricket league in america and i think it's only in like houston texas but it's bigger around the world so you gotta think you know people care a lot about cricket and fix the bat and like i don't want to say uh older english terror i mean india and india loves cricket india the uk and the west indies uh i don't know who else is playing cricket you see anybody playing cricket on this side of the world no yeah i don't know and that kind of that's a paddle is no they call it a bat let me not be disrespectful it is a bat it is oh okay so then there you go they call it a bat they call it a bat to me it looks like a paddle but it is a bat anyway we did have that call lee from cincinnati he's like jr what do you think it's legal like yo brother these torpedo bats that the new york yankees have popularized the jazz chism and volpe are now swinging around this bat now everybody's like oh my god the torpedo bat i gotta have one manny machado says i need a torpedo bat uh the atlanta braves are ordering torpedo bats and then we got executives who are saying people been using these bats for about a year now and all they did was make it like a bowling pin like you know a bowling pin is you know skinny at the top and then it's thin and then it gets fat in the middle well apparently you can do that in major league baseball because the bat it fits all of the specs according to major league baseball if you ever wanted to know the the specifications of a bat here you go the bat shall be a smooth round stick not more than 2.61 inches in diameter at the thickest part and not more than 42 inches in length the bat shall be one piece of solid wood so hickey that's no fork that's not one piece of solid wood that's uh i guess it could be right i don't know you can just carve those like grooves it's not a groove i mean we want to we want to take a handle it prongs there's basically yes we want to take one bat and make it look like a fork at the end but then at the same time that would slow down the speed of the bat wouldn't it right if you made it a fork because it would catch the air in three different ways and be like a fan not a bat right oh i guess i was thinking the other way that it would cut through faster because there's more openings for the air to pass through okay but if you hit the ball at the end of the bat that thing is shattering those prongs are not holding on to a 95 mile an hour fastball the scientists we are not i guess uh mit geniuses we are not we are not that's basically that's the guy that the yankees had on staff at the time who helped create this uh this torpedo bat he no longer works for the yankees i think he's now a member of the i think either miami or the cubs but the yankees basically had a guy from mit basically study analytics and say where is volpe making contact with the bat oh he's making contact at the end of the bat well we don't need that or he's he's missing it he's he's missing it on the label and not the barrel and so what the new york yankees did they this guy from mit said i'm gonna put more of the wood at the point of the bat where he actually makes contact and so errant lean heart he's the guy who came up with this idea i hope he's making money i highly doubt it but he explained this idea about the bats and he says the past couple of days have just been surreal with all the attention it's definitely been surreal for the last uh you know a couple days um at the end of the day you know it's the it's about the batter not the bats it's about the hitters and their hitting coaches not not the hitting implements so uh i'm happy to always help those guys get a little bit better but but ultimately it's up to them to put good swings on good pitches and grind it out every day so credit to those guys yeah it's like if you suck with a baseball bat then the swing and a regulation bat or a torpedo bat or whatever the hell is it's it's not going to change you and this gentleman is now a uh a marlins coach i mean we get this in baseball all the time but something like this maybe not an adjustment of the bats but trends come along in sports whether you got a torpedo bat or you're a clown you want to shoot a million three pointers in a game or you think you're the next patrick mahomes like it's just a trend like the minute that we got some losers swinging a torpedo bat and this batting average is still hovering around 200 like he ain't gonna do nothing but but quit and change and go back to a regular bat it's hickey what are the odds right anthony volpe just had a home run like right now no way he just had a home run he did right the torpedo yeah he just tied the yankees game up against the diamondbacks two to two with his torpedo bat so i'm like yeah yeah it's a fad wait until some idiot sucks with the bat and then it'll go away and anthony volpe uh both he and jas chisholm who popularized the bat as the yankees beat the living hell out of the brewers over the weekend uh volpe just hits a home run at yankees stadium uh hickey i just i don't think it's going anywhere it's just a fad for now like we hearing about it at the beginning of the year apparently you got guys who've been using this dating back the last year teams have known about this you got other teams that are now just going like oh my god we need it too man by the time we get to june and july nothing nothing nobody will care i agree yeah i mean it helps when the yankees hit 15 homers in a three game series including setting a franchise record nine home runs with using these bats like that's how right all the attention starts on the first base i would agree probably like even two or three weeks it won't be a discussion and i would just wonder too like if they're basically taking some wood and putting it where the player hits the most right then i guess that means then there's less wood in other places so does that mean then less hits or the ball goes less far that's proper English less far the ball goes shorter distances if you don't basically hit it in that exact sweet spot like you're kind of screwed then i don't think so i think maybe you you pick up advantages by the ball moving when it actually hits this like they're showing Volpe and where he hit the ball and it's like flush where that uh i don't call it that new wood is that this all this this whole conversation is just that's new you know when they put the wood the extra wood they put the extra wood in the bat over there so but is it extra wood or is it just moving wood from like let's say the handle or handle or yes they move into the bat correct they move they move the wood from the end of the bat further down right so like if it's basically if you are miss a pitcher you get caught in the end of the bat you could still get a hit with a traditional bat at the end of the bag still can hold up right and at least get a little poked opposite field or whatever yeah i don't know if it's going to take away hits as opposed to adding to them i don't know maybe the ball behaves the same way at the end of the bat than it would with a traditional bat i i think what they've done is pretty much increased the the sweet spot i think that's what they've done there's less wood other places doesn't that mean then the bat is i guess in theory weaker elsewhere uh hickey i don't we do we gotta contact the marlins maybe we gotta talk to this guy right that or the yankees one of the two get some answers here yeah i'm not a scientist i don't know i didn't make the bats but anthony volpe now has three home runs on the year the yankees have 17 home runs and four games this season which is a major league baseball record and so i guess people will continue on with these bats until they can't use them anymore i mean even ellie de la cruz one of the most exciting players in baseball with his his speed and as he continues to get older he's going to have more power last night he used a torpedo bat for the first time for the reds the reds beat up the rangers 14 to 3 ellie de la cruz had a home run he also he hit two home runs excuse me he hit two home runs he had a single a double and he had seven rbis maybe i can play in major league baseball if i get my hands on the torpedo bat but for right now and i don't think it's going to change major league baseball says it's all legal and there's no reason to go around changing it and this is not the tush push the baseball will leave it alone i think they appreciate the the fan interest baseball could use any you know positivity that it can get i don't know these torpedo bats are not going anywhere it's the jr sport reshow here with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network hey i just mentioned the tush push right half the nfl owners want to get rid of it when we come back from break it's time to have a chat with someone who covers all things nfl for cbs we're going to have a chat with garrett podell he's going to come through talk to us about these owners meetings and why ask about the tush push we'll get into michael parsons we'll talk about brock purty and his contract there's a lot to do with garrett podell it's the jr sport reshow the infinity sports network you're listening to the jr sport brief the jr sport reshow here with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network nfl owners meetings we got owners voting we got things passing things being tabled we got word on aaron rogers we got word on the tush push jerry jones is speaking his contracts may be big contracts coming from michael parsons and brock purty they'll talk about everything going on in the nfl it's time to have a conversation with someone who covers all things related to the league for cbs sports he is nfl writer garrett podell garrett how are you man hey thank you for having me on and no doubt about that so hey i guess uh first big question now that we got you here what the heck is going on with jerry jones and michael parsons like why would he say such a thing is he that senile that is a phenomenal question jr and i'm located here uh in the dallas area and cover the dallas cowboys up close and you know i thought last season was pretty chaotic in the way that jerry jones decided to handle the long-term contract extensions for both cd lamb and das prescott uh he allowed for the market to jump at both wide receiver and quarterback allowed cd lamb to hold out for uh the vast majority of training camp pretty much the whole time they're out in oxnard california signs him pretty much right when they get back uh to texas to a deal that made him the second highest paid wide receiver in the entire league waited until hours before kickoff of week one to resign dak prescott to his four-year 240 million dollar deal and make him the highest paid player on an average per year uh salary basis and you would think okay maybe jerry is going to learn his lesson about contract management after waiting waiting waiting and then still ending up paying uh top of the market price and steven jones at brian schottenheimer's introductory press conference he talked about being selectively aggressive and re-evaluating the team's free agency approach after last offseason in which they delayed those two big contracts i mentioned and then spent the fewest amount of money in the entire nfl last offseason you think okay maybe things can be different i mean ultimately a little i guess right i mean they signed a lot of former first round picks but dudes who are third fourth wave free agency guys mica parsons no change there jerry's still opting to wait because he wants to quote get the deal right i mean what more do you have to know about mica parsons he's the only dude in nfl history since sachs became an official metric in 1982 to have at least 12 of them in each of his first four seasons in the league and uh yeah saying he didn't know who david mulligetta is which is mica parsons agent also the agent who signed jordan love to his long-term contract the green bay packers uh got notorious we got to sean watson a five-year fully guaranteed 230 million dollar contract got jaylen ramsey paid jesse bates paid a lot of nfl guys paid he's a mega agent so to say that and probably take off one of the most powerful if not the most powerful agent in the nfl uh i thought was pretty ludicrous and i'm sure this will all end with michael parsons resigning either at the top of the market or number two in the market just like dak in cd but uh i don't know why we do this song and dance every year only to end up with the same result that's the dallas cowboy's way garrett poldell is here with us covers all things nfl for cbs sports when you take a look at you mentioned dak prescott being a quarterback we know he's making 60 mill a year when you take a look at brock purty we know he's about to get a massive raise entering into the final year of his contract making five million dollars and we heard from jed york that they're trying to make him the highest paid 49er ever when you think about what quarterbacks currently paid where do you think he's going to slide in at i think his number is going to be at least over 50 million dollars i don't know if you see brock purty at the absolute top of the market uh just because you look at him right he was the last pick of his draft class um but then was a super bowl starter for the 49ers so obviously proved his worth and even last year when uh some of his supporting cast like brandon iu kendibo samuel were hurt uh trent williams was hurt um you know he was still pretty productive and actually oddly enough his uh like air yards for past temp like throwing down field uh he was actually throwing the ball deeper than he did uh when the 49ers reached the super bowl a couple of years ago uh despite you know not having as nearly of a talented cast because of injuries and that was something you know a lot of people looked at him as like this game manager and uh but i'm sure there are a lot of teams that love to have brock purty so i would say i'd put him in the range of like somewhere between like 50 55 million jordan love uh who i mentioned a little earlier he's four years 55 million i'd say somewhere around the jordan love range uh jordan love signed four years 220 which would probably be my guess uh for brock purty um i i think he's gonna approach it knowing that he'd rather have uh you know and the 49ers pretty proactive about their salary cap stuff and getting guys paid or they want to pay and resign early uh he'd probably want to have the most talented group of dudes around him so i i would imagine that this would get done this off season for around the jordan love range well when we think about how much he's going to get paid there's another quarterback dare i say lingering about his name is aaron rogers we heard from art rooney that he feels optimistic that aaron rogers is going to end up with the steelers what do you think is is the holdup i mean is it a matter of ego is aaron rogers hoping for an injury in the summer to i don't know jj mccarthy with the vikings what's the holdup here with rogers he's waiting for the draft uh that that's a great question and um well i it kind of seems like he's made a decision already right i mean there were videos and pictures that surfaced on social media of him throwing with new pittsburgh stewards wide receiver dk metcalf at ucla uh at some point in the very recent uh times that we live in so i i would say i don't know if he'd be throwing with dk metcalf the steelers new number one receiver uh if he wasn't gonna go there i mean that would be an incredible misdirect by him and i know he loves to play us in the media and football fans alike i i don't know what the holdup is but i would imagine that he would probably get some things done before the draft right i mean i'm not really sure i mean he made a netflix documentary called aaron rogers colon enigma he's an enigma jr who knows but um the fact that he worked out with metcalf at ucla very recently would indicate to me at least if i'm putting two and two together that four would be that he would be in pittsburgh for 2025. okay cbs sports nfl writer garrett poldell is here with us that's a that's a good prediction for aaron rogers for 2025 one thing that we are not sure about following the nfl owners meetings is what's going to take place with the the tush push apparently the owners are split on whether or not to get rid of it roger gadel is saying that it's a matter of safety even though they don't have any data do you think it's ultimately going to be banned or adjusted even if they re-vote in may i mean i think there's a way to quote readjust it um even if there's not anything written in paper about it i honestly so you need 24 out of 32 teams to vote on something to get it approved or re-legislate in the nfl i think it was 16 uh teams voted to get rid of it and obviously that's a third of the number short that they needed to overturn it but i think there's a way honestly jr for them to fix the tush push without putting it in writing and that's officiating it better and what i mean by that is when you watch the tush push if you look at the center whether it's the eagles or some other teams who run it really well the cowboys actually run it pretty well um and there's a couple others san francisco runs it pretty well um you watch the center if you look at basically from chest up the center is committing a neutral zone infraction that's where they line up on that play they're like if you walked up to the center on the tush push play on pretty much any team i know there are over 300 pounds but it looks like if you just gave them a little poke they would tumble over with how much of their body weight is leaning forward and how much of their kind of upper half of their torsos over the line of scrimmage so i think if officiating really cracked down on making sure all the offensive linemen on that play truly were behind the line of scrimmage uh on that and then simultaneously defensive linemen in the interior same type of thing although it's a little more pronounced and noticeable when on those plays the offensive line particularly the center is uh well over the line of scrimmage before it even happens i think that would reduce the perceived injury risk on that play for sure no so you think the nfl is going to find a loophole as it relates to hey we that we weren't uh legislating this play properly it was illegal the whole damn time i mean i i think the legality of it um you know that's for the teamsters but i'm just saying the league itself like the there are different things the refs like emphasize uh from year to year for example there was the one year a few years ago where roughing the passer was a really big thing and uh they were calling rough in the past everything too much too much but i so i think if they could just maybe over correct officiating the tush push making sure all the offensive linemen are actually behind the line of scrimmage on that i mean that would you know create i think less of a dramatic um you know head to head or head into somebody's chest uh type of collision upon the snap for a play like that which uh in turn would reduce uh i think roger could also like yeah the risk or this is dr alan sills that their head medical guy with the league like a risk of a catastrophic injury on the play because really in the nfl let's be honest any play a catastrophic injury could occur when you have such a high impact so i think just let's make sure everyone's lined up and really police that and i think that could be a subtle way to tweak it a little bit okay hey garrett last question for you i know you're heavily invested in what takes place in the draft later on this month a lot of conversations about what the titans would do at one what the browns would do at at two and what the giants would do at three what do you think is going to take place in those first three selections i think these owner meetings have been very enlightening jr i i think it's almost a lock that cam ward uh the 2024 davy o'brien winning quarterback for miami is going to go number one overall in this draft i mean he's in a tier of his own as a quarterback prospect his ability to throw on the run and uh do a really great job playing off schedule when when things break down and just the physical traits i think he's going to be one now i had a new mock draft come out this week and i had shadir sanders number two to the browns and abdul carter uh the all-american edge rusher out of penn state third to the giants now after hearing owner jimmy haslam's comments about his quarterback situation this week saying sean watson's this big swing and miss but at the same time we're not going to force the issue at quarterback in the draft what forced the issue at quarterback in the draft came across to me as was we're not going to picture sanders just because we need a quarterback they might still pick them but after hearing that comment i'm inclined to think they're going to pick abdul carter second and pair them with miles garrett and have just a wrecking crew at their edge rusher spots uh in cleveland then and then i do think shadir sanders in my next mock draft i'll have him going third to the giants i was at the shrine bowl here in north texas one of the made two major draft showcases along with the senior bowl and i was sitting in the player lobby talking to some cbs sports co-workers and i turn over my left shoulder and i see shadir sanders in a huddle in the lobby talking with giants general manager joe shane giants head coach brian dable and giants assistant general manager brandon brown and so either like that is the greatest smokescreen in the world and new york is just trying to inflate your standards value for whatever reason or maybe they don't want them or they're in love with your standards i'm inclined to believe it's the latter and so i think if your standards drops them at three that they will take him all right well the new york giants will have uh one interesting quarterback room and at that point i guess joe shane and brian debo are gonna kind of stretch out their own longevity with the franchise hey garrett thank you so much for coming through and and sharing your insight where can people follow you your writings and all of your work with cbs uh they can follow me on twitter at garrett podell g a r e t t p o d e l l um and then uh all my writing is uh cbssports.com hit the nfl tab hey garrett thank you so much for the time and insight look forward to chatting with you down the line man absolutely had a great time talking jr pleasure to join you and no doubt about it that garrett poldell cbs sports nfl writer you know what we're going to take a break and when we come back let's let's listen to some of the commentary that was provided by some of these owners and some of these coaches earlier today i mean as it relates to to brock purdy and his deal and we heard from the steelers on on what may happen with aaron rogers we'll get into that on the other side of the break you're listening to the jr sport brief it is the jr sport brie show here with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network thank you to garrett poldell for joining us cbs sports nfl writer to talk about some of the things that took place today at the nfl owners meetings hickey i think it's inevitable based on what garrett shared with us and what we've heard earlier today from roger gudel i think they're ultimately going to ban the tush push i think they're going to get rid of it they're going to alter it in some type of way unfortunately i agree now maybe you know this answer because i don't garrett said earlier there's been a lot of reports that the vote to ban it only had 16 votes today and that's why they're pushing it back to may yes isn't the reason to vote today to get an answer do you have enough the answer is no they didn't have enough they'd vote again in may why are you allowed to delay the vote if you don't have enough numbers why not they got to meet again right they don't need i mean this isn't something that's collectively bargained like the owners want to change it they could change it without the the input from the players association so why not i guess when you run the when you run the ship and you own the teams you get to make the rules right but i guess like how much between now and may can be discovered that will sway someone that says i am pro tush push to then going to say i'm anti-tush push i don't think it's so much about who's going to change their mind it's like it's like politics it's like hey man vote for this and i'll do this for you oh you need that i don't i don't know what these nfo guys will do when it comes to you know you scratch my back i'll scratch yours but i think they have their ways i mean it's april i know may is a well damn it it's april 1st we got a whole month from now you know what i'm saying and i don't know maybe they meet at the end of may maybe it's the middle of may you just never know you know what favors somebody's gonna throw out there what what bait somebody's gonna put out just to you know turn things around man so i'm i'm not so sure hickey but i don't know if it's gonna be change your mind is the nfl basically already said we don't have any data we don't have it we don't have any of it but that's not to say that some owner doesn't say do this and i'll do this for you and we know certain owners carry more pull and sway than others i mean jerry jones basically moved to franchises lead the led the charge for two teams to go ahead and play in los angeles who's to say that jerry jones doesn't throw out i don't know or something anything to kind of get things to go his way that wouldn't shock me so it's a lot of backscratching is what you're saying here this next month you think yeah i think it's no different than anything else political in this country it's like i want to get this done can you help me yes i'll help you but you have to do this for me uh yeah i don't know what that is hey vote for this rule next this is going to help me out it's just it's a crooked world that we live in hickey i don't know you were right about that yeah but the tush push is uh it ain't hurt nobody leave it alone i think they'll they'll end up changing it uh though and speaking of change garrett came through and shared some additional information with us that but we know this is going to happen brock purdy is going to get paid by the 49ers and then if you didn't realize that the 49ers let so many uh free agents basically walk because of brock purdy we got that uncertainty today you think about dray greenlaw getting the boot use check having a readjusted contract after he got cut leonard floyd got the boot despite having eight and a half sacks last year now he's a member here of the atlanta falcons hufanga he got hurt last year but still one of the best defensive backs and safeties in the game he's joining the broncos who man their defensive backs are going to be crazy him and sertan back there char various ward gone he's now a member of the cults debo samuel got traded why did the 49ers let all of these guys go we've heard from john lynch he's saying that oh well you know we we got a process here and we're gonna add players and uh and we got a plan well the man who runs and owns the team jed york he says man we had to let go of all those guys because we're gonna pay brock purdy listen to this when you're in a world where everybody is watching the nfl the first week of free agency or at least the first three days of free agency it's it's a frenzy right like you see a huge spike in social following and things like that because it's something to get engaged in and when you're not overly active in that space it gets easy to say oh you know you don't you don't want to win and you don't just have to do things the first three days in free agency i don't know that as we looked at the board that there was somebody that we felt made that type of an impact more so than making the decision to try to go pay brock and again like you can't pay somebody quarterback money and have all of the other talent around the way we had now you have to start fulfilling that or filling that piece with the draft yeah it's like man we can't pay no quarterback 50 plus million dollars and then pay everybody yeah he's like come on we've been having this guy on a discount brock purdy's still on his rookie contract this man made two and a half million dollars in his first three years he's making five million dollars this year he's gonna make one massive jump when he goes from five million dollars to making 50 and 55 million 50 and 55 million here hickey didn't he get his uh he got his teammates he got them trucks didn't he get them toyotas or something like that the linemen i think you nailed it i think it was toyota so what is he going to do with the 50 everybody gets a bentley now what is he doing i mean might as well right if you're the old line oh my god yeah that's too much we know even patrick when home's not doing that he bought his guy's cowboy boots and glasses yeti coolers uh kept it simple the other quarterbacks like golf carts also simple man i'd be like you guys make enough money i just this there's gonna be a rich quarterback who's just gonna say screw this crap like i'm gonna get you guys a simple gift and you will like it and you get over it like a watch like you is it cheap to give a guy a 50 hickey i don't know nothing about watches i know you can walk around with five million dollars on your wrist i don't know nothing about watches is a 50 000 watch is that is that cheap for an nfl cubie is that cheap i mean i don't think so especially if you got to buy you know 10 of them oh my god you know you got half a mil right there and just watches as holiday gifts for your offensive live it i don't think that's cheap in what world will an offensive lineman receive a gift and go this this is it where's the rest of it oh maybe the yeti cooler just a yeti cool just a yeti cooler at that point you just you what you let your quarterback get sacked i think you as an o-line huddle up and say all right first play no one's blocking set the tone it's one hit huh wow it must be nice if i was in that locker room i'd be pawning off all of those gifts okay i mean where's the first place i can sell this stuff i got bills to pay i need the money thank you but no thanks this yeti cooler is not uh it ain't paying my bills i could pay a i could pay half the hickey was a yeti cooler it was 800 yesterday for some 400 like it you know you want an expensive nice big ass yeti cooler you could spend almost a grand oh my god keep my electricity off for the whole year with that money man come on now yeti cooler no thanks i could buy a whole fridge for the house i don't need that but you're gonna pay for the electricity um maybe throw out the fridge and just use the yeti cooler as the fridge no no thanks i'll just take the cash and figure out the rest later okay how much you think a custom golf cart could be sold for is that what patrick my home's got his guys something maybe it was jaylen hurt someone did yeah where the hell am i golf carting what am i what am i doing with this how big is your property where you need a golf cart what if you're a rookie and you live in an apartment where are you parking that thing i'm selling it like who needs a golf cart selling it i'm pretty sure a golf cart is a maybe it's a couple thousand two thousand dollars i don't know it's going right to the shop i ain't keeping that thing a golf cart anyway and shout out to all them guys with the ridiculous money brock purty buying everybody toyota highlanders he's going to be buying bentley's next it's the jr sport reshow here with you coast to coast on the infinity
