It is the JR Sport Brief Show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. I'm coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia. Thank you to everybody tuned in and locked in all over North America.

I'll be hanging out with you for one more hour. The show gets started every weekday at 6 p.m. Eastern, 3 Pacific. Thank you for being here right now on the free Odyssey app, your local Infinity Sports Network affiliate, Sirius XM375. And if you've got a smart speaker, ask the speaker to play the Infinity Sports Network. We've had a fun show. If you've missed any of it, get the Odyssey app and then hit rewind.

You can start from the beginning. Thank you so much to Mack Angle for joining us. Covers the Dallas Mavericks for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. We know Kyrie Irving officially. He tore his ACL today. Not good news for him, the Mavs, their fans, for anybody. Meanwhile, in Philadelphia, more good news, especially if your name is Saquon Barkley. He got himself a contract extension. Yeah, Philadelphia Eagles said you helped us win a Super Bowl.

We're going to pay you for two more years. We talked about Chidor Sanders, a lot of criticism coming his way. Post NFL combine, he didn't work out. He didn't take things seriously. I'm like, man, the guy's last name is Sanders.

People are going to find a way to crap on him any which way possible. Thank you to Tony Pauline for joining us from Sportskeeda, NFL draft analyst to take a look at some of the other prospects that are going to get drafted. And then we just talked about LeBron James. Los Angeles Lakers are playing the New Orleans Pelicans. LeBron James is one point away from being the only NBA player ever to have 50,000 points combined in regular season postseason. By the way, LeBron James is also the only NBA player to have 45,000 career points and 46,000 career points and 47 and 48.

LeBron James is just just blowing records on out the water. We got a lot more to do as the show continues on. I mentioned to you Bill Belichick before we went to break. Bill Belichick was in the news today and it had to do with his, I guess, media career a little bit. This guy was doing four and five and six shows last season as he wasn't coaching on the sidelines. We know Bill Belichick is going to be coaching North Carolina this year. And they're going to have a hard knock show or not. We'll get into that in a little while. Of course, at the end of the show, we'll talk about a few things that took place this day in sports history. And then also, if you want to talk to me, you can do that as well.

Easy. 855-212-4227. That's 855-212-4227. I'm in Atlanta, Georgia. Super producer and host, Ryan Hickey.

He is in New York City. You know what? Let's, let's go through a few of the things that we discussed.

How about this? Last night, the Dallas Mavericks, quite a disaster as Kyrie Irving tore his ACL. Dallas Mavericks have boosted ticket prices. Anthony Davis isn't healthy enough to play.

And Kyrie, he was on Instagram today and he said, you know what? I appreciate you fans for showing me love. I just wanted to take this time out.

I don't want to get long winded on here. I just want to take the time out to thank each and every one of you that tweeted me or you so much, you know, and it doesn't go unnoticed. It hasn't been 48 hours since I tore my ACL, but you know, the recovery process already started mentally, spiritually, emotionally.

So just wanted to let you guys know I'm okay and I will be okay moving forward. It does suck a lot. I ain't gonna lie to you guys. It's yeah, this one stings for sure. There's been a lot of things that have stung for everybody down in Dallas as it relates to the Mavericks. I feel like everybody is stinging maybe except for the ownership group, the Dumont.

I don't know what the hell is going on. We had this conversation with Mack Angle. It's probably in the Dallas Mavericks best interest to shut Anthony Davis down because what is he going to come back and play for? You might as well tank and damn it, you might as well tank next year as well because if Kyrie Irving tore his ACL yesterday, when do you think he's coming back? He ain't coming back this calendar year.

You probably won't see him until 2026 and I think he's going to be very, very careful coming back from injury because next year is the final year of his contract. If I'm Kyrie Irving, I'm going to rehab and get paid while doing it. Meanwhile, speaking of getting paid today, Saquon Barkley got paid. The man just won the Super Bowl and the Philadelphia Eagles said, here's some money.

If only it was that nice. Well, for me, he got a two year contract extension worth $41 million. They tacked on $41 million to the back end of Saquon's contract. So what was originally a three year deal, they threw him a bone, a big bone. They said, here's two more years, $41 million.

Not a surprise. You win the Super Bowl, you win big. Howie Roseman just said this, the GM of the Philadelphia Eagles, he said this a couple of days ago at the combine, what we already knew. Saquon is a difference maker.

A matter of fact, he's even more than that. Saquon's a franchise player at the running back position, you know, and I think just a special player who can do everything that you're looking for at the running back position, obviously unbelievable character. And so when you have guys like that, the opportunities to continue to expanding their role and the things that they can do. I know Nick and Kevin, our coaching staff are talking about that all the time.

Yeah, well, good for them. Philadelphia, they're going to be favorites, I think repeat actually. Like, why wouldn't you look at the Philadelphia Eagles?

I mean, and understand it today. There's a lot that needs to take place. Forget the NFL draft. Think about some of the free agents that are available. Like, is there a major guy walking around that's just going to change the tide or the turn or turn the tide of the NFL?

No, the answer's no. We got a bunch of bit pieces that are going to be moving around in free agency. You think about some of the top wide receivers at this point?

I don't want to call Amari Cooper and DeAndre Hopkins journeymen, but that's that's ultimately what they are. Saquon Barkley is a difference maker. He helped them get over the hump and allowed the Philadelphia Eagles to win the championship. And on the other hand, a team that they have to compete with in the NFC East, we saw Debo Samuel end up with the Washington commanders. They got him from San Francisco for fifth round pick. And then the Dallas Cowboys.

Can you believe this? They gave some money to one of their best defenders, even though it's not a let's just say who you would hope it is if you're a Cowboys fan. Listen to this from CBS Sports HQ. And we have some breaking news here to start the show on CBS Sports HQ where the Cowboys have reached a long term deal with their D tackle Osa Adikazuwa. According to reports, it is a four year, 80 million dollar deal that includes 58 million dollars guaranteed and a 20 million dollar signing bonus. Second most pressures on D tackles last season right behind a guy named Chris Jones. Yeah, well, that's nice.

That's not Michael Parsons, though. OK, like the Dallas Cowboys are going to bleed out that entire scenario and situation until and I think Hickey got this right when we discussed it earlier. Hickey, you said a contract holdout, right?

That's perfect. This is going. So that means all well, the beginning of training camp, we got to get a press conference from Dak Prescott. What's going on with his contract? Jerry Jones is going on his contract. Steven Jones is going on his contract.

C.D. Lamb, what about his contract? This is this is like a rite of passage for the Dallas Cowboys, is it? They got to go through every every training camp with something crazy going on in Oxnard. You're not a true cowboy unless you go through some contract turmoil. Yeah, it's just unless you're Osa Adikazuwa, he's really the only one who's got off, who's gotten paid without having to really sweat it out whatsoever. Other than that, everyone's had to be sitting there in training camp, answering questions, maybe holding out of training camp.

It's a nightmare. Yeah, but he's not a star. He might be performing as one of the best interior defensive linemen in the NFL. He's a smaller defensive lineman.

You know, people look at him and go, hey, you're not big enough to stop the run. He's not a star. And so I guess if you're the Dallas Cowboys, you'll throw money to the other guys. But if you're a star, I get the Dallas Cowboys need to, oh, I don't want to say beat you up in the court of public opinion.

They just make dumbass decisions. This is. Hickey, this is going to I got to be careful with my words here, OK? Oh, yeah, OK. I think Jerry Jones and let's just say he enjoys this all right. And in a different way, like he has to like he must go to sleep at night.

And do you think somebody is scrolling through, you know, social media? If I'm going, Jerry, look at this and Jerry, look at that. He's like, yeah, yeah.

Tell me some more. He must love this, right? You know, it's funny.

I'm glad you brought that up because I was actually going to ask you that. It feels like it's just like a power play, right? Or it's like, oh, you think you're in control because you're going to get all this money?

Well, I'll make a sweat. I'm going to put doubts out there and I'm going to try to make you seem like you're not as important as you think you are, just so that I look like I'm in charge and I'm still the most important. That's what it feels like. Well, Jerry Jones is out here manipulating situation, the kind of like what you said. Yeah, I think he kind of, I mean, he kind of gets off on it. Yeah, I think he does. He's a weird man. He gets, well, can you imagine when he does his, his hits on the fan in Dallas?

Does he, does he get like a physical, what time do you think he wakes up in the morning? Hey, come on. Six, I'd say, ah, five 30, five 30. Okay. All right. I was going to go five. Okay. Five, five 30.

I think it's fair range. I think he is. Yep. Jerry Jones. He gets up. How does he consume his news? Oh, Jeff is still in newspaper or printout of digital newspapers. Prints. He's flipping through.

He's flipping through physical pages of prints out. Okay. Yeah. Okay. Someone right. If, if whatever, the fourth star telegram, they just are only online. I could see someone have to wake up early.

4m 3m. Yeah. Yeah. Get printed. Yeah.

They come out with the yellow, what does that thing called highlighter? Yeah. Highly up. And this is what you need to know, Jerry.

This is what they said about you. Yeah. Probably laminated to stables. Hey, he's a billionaire. He's paying some, how much you think he pays that person to print out the newspaper van and be up at three o'clock in the morning to make sure it's freshly printed and minted. Probably a lot more than I am making for sure. You think, I would think so.

I would think Jerry Jones is paying him nothing. Really? Yeah.

Come on here. If you pennies there, you've seen some of these lawsuits. Well, I mean, well, I guess, I guess Jerry is not exactly.

We're sprinting to give out cash. I guess it's, I guess it's different. That lady said she was his daughter. Didn't that what she said?

That's right. A different lawsuit. Anyway, to avoid a lawsuit here at eight five five two one two 42 27.

All right. Well look, man, what's he going to sue me for? What's Jerry Jones going to say? Well, hopefully Jerry doesn't ask Brett Favre on how to sue based on words. Brett Favre, all of his lawsuits get thrown out.

Okay. And said, Hey, Jerry, Jerry Jones would make my day. If he tried to sue me for something, go for it and say anything. Anyway, it'd be good for the show.

What if Jerry Jones sued? Yeah. All over the place. Oh, be tremendous.

Maybe I should be more explicit in what I said about how he, uh, he enjoys some of the press clippings. We'll see. Hey, Hickey, I'm about to do, I got in trouble last year. Let's see.

I could top it this time. Okay. That was around this time. Right.

It was right around March madness, March madness. Yeah. Uh, so you are do look, I was just watching basketball. I just said, I just said what I saw, but, uh, I guess I can't do that. Uh, eight, five, five. Yeah. I can't say what I saw.

Uh, eight, five, five, two, one, two 42 27. Mike is here from Birmingham. You're on the JR sport reshow.

I don't need coaches mad at me again. Go ahead, Mike. What's up, man. Are you doing all right? I'm doing great. What's on your mind?

All right. So I wanted to get your thoughts on a couple of things. The, uh, the MVP race and, uh, in, in college basketball between Cooper flag and Janae Broom. Um, the other thing I wanted to see is, uh, is what you thought about, you know, the combine, you know, we've all seen what Jaylin Melrose did. And, you know, what a couple of others, you know, Will Howard changed ahead of, I really fall out in the combine, which is, is kind of interesting the way that went.

And I just, as far as the combine goes, I wanted to ask, you know, what's your thoughts for, as far as like, you know, if these guys opting out to do certain, certain exercises and certain things in the combine, is that the future of the way we go in? Or, you know, it's been that way. It's been that way for years. I mean, what we're seeing now is no different except for that. We got more social media. The combine is more of a, of a prime time property. So I don't think it's all that different, but do I think that we're going to see more of a trend where it's just like, I don't need to do this.

Hell yeah. Like the guys who are going to, the guys who are going to compete at the combine, the dudes who think that they can boost their stock, not guys who think that they're going to harm it. Not at all. I don't want, I hate to compare it, but it's like, it's like asking some of these NBA guys to go out and compete in the dunk contest.

Well, what happens if I lose? People are going to make fun of me, you know, but if you're, if you're a draftee trying to make it in the NFL, like, Hey, if I don't got the strongest arm, but people know I'm a good quarterback, then why do I want to look bad against the competition? It's just, I think it's pretty normal at this point. Yeah, but you see, you know, like in past years, you used to, you see like Derek Harry and several other running backs actually running that 40, you know, all quarterbacks actually getting out there and making their passes and stuff is, it just seems like it's, it's getting to the point to where all their, the combine to only be like interviews, you know what I'm saying? Nah, there's always, I mean, when you got hundreds of guys getting drafted, there's always going to be dudes. Like we, we're really only thinking about guys at the top. Like, think about that out of all the hundreds of guys that are going to get drafted, all 250, whatever of them, how many dudes actually have the luxury of saying, man, I ain't running. I ain't throwing a few, very few. So I don't think it's stars get treated good. Even guys who didn't even get drafted yet, they're prospective stars. They getting all the love in the world.

So that's, that's nothing crazy there. And much, much, much more radio channels already swapped over to the Auburn game, but I stayed on with you because I wanted to ask you about that MVP. So what do you think about Genia Bruce? Bruh, I have not watched Auburn outside of highlights all year long. I've been hearing about no man, man. Do you see what time I'm on the air? Do you see, do you see what time I'm broadcasting right now? Yeah, man. I know. I know. Yeah. So I see what's going on, but I can't sit down and intently watch everything. But what I can tell you, what I can tell you is I've been looking at Cooper flag and listening and hearing about him for like the past two and a half years.

And just based off of what I have seen, what I have learned, there's, there's no, there's no competition there. Do you think that he's going to lose out on, on the most outstanding player? Come on. You think he's not going to win it?

You think they're going to give it to Broom? Yeah, I do. Why? Tell me. Go ahead, educate me.

Go ahead. Well, no, I'm not educating you. I'm just saying, you know, like it's so, so Broom's a senior, right. Uh, he's playing in the SEC, which is domination of this year, which is really strange, uh, with the SEC taking over like basketball. Um, and I know, I know he's, he's a really good, I mean, he's probably gonna, you know, first round draft and all that stuff. But like, as far as like every, every game of day to day, I see Jenai Broom like standing up to that, you know, and like making that difference for his team. Um, I mean, I really don't know how, how, how, how he can, you know, and I don't know when Auburn played this. Well, Mike, this is very, it's very simple.

Who is getting and garnering the media attention? That's it. Um, that's, that's, that's it. That's what it boils down to.

You could talk about watching Broom in every single game of the tigers. You can do that. You're, you're in Birmingham. Okay. Uh, 95, 99%.

And you're right next, you're right next door to me. Look, I know plenty of people who've represented guys who've come out of Auburn. I know plenty of the guys who've graduated and left there. I I'm familiar, but Cooper flag is, is going to end up with the award just based off. Yes. This is no different than, Hey, if what would have stopped Victor weapon Yama from, I don't know, when in rookie of the year, when the guy was basically promoted for like three years before he ever got into the league, like Cooper flag is Cooper. There was a whole story about Cooper flag last year playing against team USA basketball and going on a stretch where he was the best guy on the court. Like what, what else, what else does anybody say to that? Oh, who else was out there?

I don't know. Joel Embiid was there. Some guy named LeBron, Steph Curry. Who was the best guy?

Oh, uh, some guy who didn't even play college ball yet. What? That's what he's up against. We will. We will. Let's see what happens, Mike. Yeah. We'll see what happens. I mean, I just don't buy it though. You know? All right.

Well, we'll, we'll see. Look, look, if you're asking me and thank you, Mike, for calling from Birmingham, even if I want to think about something else, basketball, Hickey, who did I talk to? I talked to so many damn people. Did I have this conversation on air with somebody yesterday?

I might've had it privately. I don't know. Like Shay Gilgas. Alexander is going to win MVP this year. It doesn't matter what Nicola Jokic is doing or what he doesn't do. Jokic could have won MVP for the past like three, four years consecutively, but they won't give it to him because, well, it's just, it's not, he's not dominant enough where the team isn't good enough and he won it already.

And then he won it already again and on, he won a championship. So we got to give it to somebody else. That's, that's just the nature of, of giving away these awards.

In a lot of cases, it can be a popularity contest, just flattened period. I can look at another sport. We look at the NFL.

The NFL doesn't even know what the comeback player of the year award is. Like what, huh? Okay.

Yeah, sure. Sam Donald didn't come back from, you know, he just came back from being a bum. Hickey, what's the guy, uh, why, why was DeMar Hamlin?

Why the hell was he on the list again? Like he's alive. God bless him.

But it come back from what he can't come back. Well, nevermind. This just awards a popularity contest.

Mike is simple as that. Let's see what the tigers do when the tournament starts. That'd be fun, right? And sign me up for that. 8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27.

That's 8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27. Speaking of Duke, we're going to take a break. We're going to come back. We're going to talk about arrival. Okay. When we come back, we're going to talk about North Carolina because Bill Belichick is, is coaching the Tar Heels on the football side. And we might see Bill Belichick in a different way as a coach or we might not.

I'll explain on the other side. It's the JR sport reshow, the infinity sports network. You're listening to the JR sport brief.

It is the JR sport reshow here with you on the infinity sports network. Right before we went to break, you know, we were asked about Cooper flag and Janai broom and who's going to be most outstanding player. And I'm just waiting for the tournament, man, but we have seen and heard about Cooper flag for, it seems like two years. I feel like I've heard about him longer from when he was still playing up in Maine.

And so yeah, March madness is upon us, but I do want to talk about arrival of Duke. I do want to talk about North Carolina and their new football head coach and Bill Belichick because Bill Belichick, God bless him. He's, he's been living a life. I don't know if we've had anybody get fired, which he did. Bill Belichick got fired, not get hired for a job. And then he came out, he came out swimming. He came out in the best possible position for a guy who got the boot. Let's think about this.

Since Bill Belichick got fired from the Patriots, yes, he got fired. This guy went public with his, how old is she again? 24 years old, 25? I was going to say 23. You may be right, but she's in that range.

23 to 25. No doubt about it. Well, his girlfriend is about 50 years younger than him. Man, what are they doing? I don't know. Don't want to think about it.

Yuck. He got a young girlfriend. This man has just been on TV on every show imaginable. He's doing podcasts and betting shows and gambling shows and breaking down film. He's on Manning cast and Pat McAfee. His young girlfriend got him working.

Okay. Let's just put it that way. And so now Bill Belichick doesn't get an NFL job and maybe it's not the first preference, but now he's going to run around and coach the college football team. And so what does the world need now that Bill Belichick is getting back into coaching? We need to still keep Bill Belichick in the media. And so there was a report over the past 24, 48 hours that because there were no NFL teams who wanted to do an off season edition of hard knocks, you could thank the New York Giants and all their embarrassing disasters from last year. Not, you know, given Saquon a deal, which made sense to me. Nobody wants to be embarrassed.

Nobody wants to do it. And so there will be no off season edition of NFL hard knocks. And so there was a report that we would get an off season edition of North Carolina football. Now, I would assume this would be more entertaining than what we got for 20 plus years with Bill Belichick as head coach of the Patriots. They gave us nothing. Absolutely nothing. Bill Belichick gave nothing. The man didn't really showcase a personality or at least the breadth or depth of a personality until the past year.

Maybe it has something to do with the young girlfriend, maybe not. This might be disappointing. It's not coming true. Apparently, there will be no Bill Belichick in North Carolina football on HBO's hard knocks. It doesn't appear that the deal was able to get done, but that doesn't mean that we're not going to see Bill Belichick because Ryan, excuse me, Ryan Glass, people from front office sports, he says there might be another media entity that follows Bill Belichick in North Carolina around. Sign me up for it.

Listen to this. Another bidder might have come over the top to try and snag this documentary. And now maybe they offered Belichick in North Carolina more money or more creative control or whatever. But it seems like this documentary is still going to get made just on a different platform than hard knocks. And we reported this morning that it's likely to be produced by Ever Wonder Studios, which did the Jake Paul versus Mike Tyson Netflix fight among a number of other events. Oh, my God. We we're going to get Bill Belichick on Netflix.

Is that what it is? I mean, Netflix got a lot of money is buying up everything in the whole world right now. It's kind of crazy to think about this. Whoever would have thought that Bill Belichick out of every coach and out of every GM and president, that Bill Belichick would would be highly coveted as a personality. And sure, I understand there's a difference between what he did as the head coach and delivering the message and keeping things about football with the Patriots. And yeah, we heard him get excited when he, you know, talked about long snappers and, you know, end around.

We saw that. But to think in 2025, he'd be a media personality that people want to pay attention to. What a world. I mean, is there this is this is crazy. Is there a more interesting figure in coaching today than Bill Belichick in the NFL like now? I don't know.

Nobody stands out to me. Harbaugh, I don't need to watch a documentary. I don't want to listen to him. He's going to tell me about some baby being born.

I don't need to hear that. In the NBA, like what these coaches get moved around. Who's the most interesting head coach in the NBA?

I don't know. I'm going to say Pat Riley. He doesn't even coach anymore.

He just points fingers and punishes people. Who's an interesting hickey? Is there an interesting coach in sports right now? They're all old and retired, like Saban. Or muzzled, right? No one really says anything.

No one's really, for the most part, outgoing or says what's truly on their minds. Oh, that's right. And Popovich got, you know, unfortunately, he had a muzzled stroke. Right. So I'm with you. Like Bill is by far the most fascinating coach. Like he's someone where I haven't finished like a hard knock series in a very long time.

If that actually went through or whatever, some new iteration is created. I'm watching the whole thing because I'm with, I'm just fascinated to see what the guy's like. Yeah. He's a giant mystery there. Well, not anymore. We've seen so much personality. That's true.

You left that woman's house with no shirt on. Okay. Come on, Bill.

Bill, could you see? That's true. I could start naming names of other coaches, which I will not.

Okay. But Bill Belichick walking out of on a ring camera. Come on. They did that on purpose. They did it on but Marco Belletti is here.

Marco is there. We don't have coaches with personalities anymore. They almost like turnkeys. You coach the team, you show the team, you do the same thing. They don't like turn keys.

You coach the team, you show up, you get fired and then on to the next one. We don't like who's the most interesting personality that could, you know, lead a series. Is there one? No, because they don't want that. I mean, you want goofy? You could do that. You want to do Liam Cohen and see if he can actually put a sentence together.

You want to do a Jaguar? Not just the NFL, just in the general. I'm just saying like, yeah, I mean, I, you know, no baseball, especially that's gone by me.

The sport doesn't work for that anyway, but that's the managers. Yeah. You're, you're holding the clipboard. You're running the computer system.

You're not in charge of anything. So they're all gone. Wouldn't it be fun if we had like a Tommy Lasorda or hard knocks? That'd be fun, right? It would be Billy Martin. See who's, you know, Oh my God. Yelling at Lou Piniella.

Oh, see how many packs of cigarettes he can go through in a day. Let's think about this. Does, does major, we didn't think about managers. Does Major League Baseball even have like a manager with a, besides listening to Bochy's voice. I don't give a damn about none of these guys.

No, I don't think they're allowed to do anything. Madden's probably the most eccentric, but I feel like he's calmed down since he was gone. He's been older and sick. He's not coaching the, oh, this is really bad. He's not managing the Angels. No, he got fired a long time ago. They're like, they're like three managers later now.

Wow. Phil Nevin's gone. He was interim. I don't even know who the hell's there now. Yeah, Madden had the finish up.

Yeah, he finished up a couple of years ago. Yikes. My bad on that one, fellas.

But it goes to show he's the only one. Lack of personality because we don't care. They're just guys.

Nameless, faceless people. They put together the lineup. Lucky if they got good handwriting.

Lucky if they're even able to do that. Is Aaron Boone the most gregarious personality? He can't be. So angry. Come on. No, he got he got a pacemaker too. Come on now. He does.

Yes, definitely. Every time he gets ejected, he's good for his imitations. But I mean, like, he's not eccentric.

I'm not going to Aaron Boone. He's not going to really light up personality wise. He's got a really good like, you know, he has stances that he can do.

He can do the Joe Torrey walk to the mound. He's got some stuff that'll make you chuckle. He's a nice guy. I've met him a bunch of times. He's a very nice guy. But he's not going to give you anything. Oh, he scares the hell out of me when he goes up there and loses his mind.

I'm like, this guy literally has a pacemaker. What is he doing? Fair.

But if you're Laz Diaz, he's not going to come after you like that's not who he is. It's not his job. That's not his personality.

It's not his way. We need we need we need good coaches and managers. We need managers and coaches.

JJ Redick might be could you imagine if JJ Redick coaches another five to 10 years, he's going to act like Popovich. He's just going I was going to I was going to I can't say what I was going to say. It's a four letter word.

And anyway, he would be on he would be he is on his way to being that guy. Just I'm grouchy. I'm angry. What are you asking me? Are you stupid peons?

What are you coming to me for? Like, he might be the next legacy coach in the NBA. I can't argue that. But is that really fun?

Is that like, look, and I love pop. I know he could be annoying. But like, he doesn't. Other than being a curmudgeon, like there's really not a whole lot there.

But it was funny. Sometimes what is our exposure do or say he'll be around for the next forever. But he does not say anything. No, he's as bland as toast. The most entertaining thing I've seen him say, he looked at Jimmy Butler, he said, Jimmy, you're going to fight me.

He said, for real, you're going to fight me? What? Yeah.

So I don't know. Now that I think about it, it's crazy. This is even while the Bill Belichick is the most interesting personality. I think coaching in all sports.

Honestly, you made me a little sad. We need some Earl Weavers. We need some Billy Martin. John Tortorell is a personality. He may be number two.

And Mike Gundy is still around too, Sam. True. But he says just dumb things. Just dumb.

It's like, hey, well, you know, about last year this time I got in my car after having 20 beers. Like, no, bro. I've done that hundreds of times. Is that no good? Should we not do that? Is that is that is that wrong now? George Costanza? I was unaware.

Yeah. He's just, you know, I wish we had less of Mike Gundy than anything else. But I got to tell you, do you? I was frowned upon.

I would have never. Somebody let him know he hasn't been made aware. And given the clock, I give him what? He got about three months to say something stupid. He's he's due. It's coming.

It's the wild stuff. Hey, good luck to Bill Belichick. I guess Belichick on Netflix with UNC will be must watch. He'll be yelling at teenagers. That's just a new side of Belichick.

You have to talk to his girlfriend for advice. You're listening to the J.R. Sport Brief, the J.R. Sport Brief show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. 855-212-4227.

That's 855-212-4227. We talked about a lot today. A Shador Sanders and looked at Saquon and his new deal and contract that he got or at least the extension from the Eagles is a lot that has gone on today.

Of course, the Dallas Mavericks have been in the news with Kyrie tearing his ACL. And so before we get out of here, I'm going to take a look at the phone lines. But before we do any of that, today is March 4th. It's 2025 and it's time to take a look at a few things that took place this day in sports history. Back in the days when I was young, I'm not a kid anymore.

But some days I sit and wish I was a kid again. It's time for this day in sports history. You see, back in those days, we had radio and you couldn't see anything and it was primitive and lousy and we liked it. On the J.R. Sport Brief Show.

I wish I was 50 years younger and I'd kick your ass. It is the J.R. Sport Brief Show on the Infinity Sports Network, March 4th, 2025.

1962. Wilt Chamberlain records his fifth consecutive 50-point game, scoring 58 points against the New York Knicks. LeBron James and about, I don't know, an hour from now, maybe less, LeBron James is going to have 50,000 career points in the NBA. But that's for future. It's not in the past. This happened in the past.

March 4th, 2015. Russell Westbrook. He becomes the first player since Michael Jordan in 1989 to record four straight triple doubles.

He had 49 points, had 16 rebounds and 10 assists as the Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Sixers 123-118 in overtime. Listen to Russell Westbrook working overtime, courtesy of the NBA. Westbrook to the corner, Augustine for three.

Bang! And there is a big pocket and Westbrook's fourth consecutive triple double. As time expires and the Thunder guts out a five-point win behind a 49-point effort by Westbrook. That is a career high in scoring. A career high in rebounds with 15. Check that 16 and oh by the way, 10 assists. Four straight triple doubles for Westbrook. Man, it gets crazy. We talked about LeBron James basically playing the equivalent of what, almost 26 and a half seasons, almost 26 seasons.

It's mind boggling. Think about how long he's been playing at a high level. Same thing with Russell Westbrook. You can criticize both of these guys for a lot of reasons on the basketball court. Shot selection and what they do, what they don't do. But the fact that they can still get up and down and play is just amazing. And LeBron James just on a completely different level. On his way to 50,000 career points. Yeah, those are a few things. Well, Wilt Chamberlain and Russell, those are a couple of things that took place this day in sports history.

You can add LeBron James to that list and I guess we'll chat about that next year. 855-212-4227. That's 855-212-4227. Billy is here from California. You're on the JR Sport Reshow. What's up, Billy? How we doing, cool, baby?

I'm excellent. What's on your mind? I'm heading over to my weekly poker game.

I just want to know right off the bat, what do you like to be dealt in the pocket? Oh man, I don't, I don't gamble. Now you do that, Billy. I don't gamble. You don't play cards? No, I don't. No, I don't do that, Billy.

If I don't have money coming back to me, the closest I'm going to get is Daily Fantasy, Billy. Okay, that's fine. Now listen, we'll get right to it then. And the things that I do like to do that, you know, I can't tell you on the radio, but go ahead. That's all good, man.

We'll talk another time in another lifetime. What it is in terms of what you're thinking of just forget Dion and the entourage coming with the Sanders pick. Who better altogether, in your opinion?

Is it Chidora or is it Cam Ward? And why, why the homeboy from, look, I'm a Michigan Wolverine fan, but why the homeboy from OSU getting all the boos? I feel like he, he could, he could be something in there in that veil. Well, I mean, if you take a look at what he did at the combine, you're talking about, uh, Will Howard?

I mean, it is what happens on your SATs, how you going to do in college? I don't think so. Uh, well, I don't know if I'd necessarily make that, that correlation to the NFL. I said this earlier on in the show, and I want to respond to you, uh, Billy Ray would just at the end. So just hold on a second.

There's a smaller pool there. There are only 32 starting jobs in the NFL 32. Okay. We can take a look at the entire draft class and eligible QBs. If we even take a look and split it in half and say 16 of the NFL teams want a new quarterback, like there's, there's only a limited amount of spots. And so, yeah, what your SAT score is, isn't indicative of what you're going to do in college, but in the NFL, it's even smaller of a group to get into. And then you asked me about Chidora and Cam, I think it's quite apparent in how they both play. Cam is a, is a much more, he's a larger and he's more athletic. Wouldn't you agree with that, Billy? I would agree with that, but I still, I would say that I feel like, like there's no doubt about it.

The homeboy from OSU, it's not about the SATs. It's like Tom Brady on the combine day. You don't have a great day. You don't look so great. You still become one of the greatest.

If you, if you're predicting that Will Howard is going to end up like Tom Brady, then I think he's going to throw a good football. That's all I understand my friends. Hey, you keep doing you go for your dreams. Everybody out there listening. Thank you so much. Oh, thank you, Billy for Billy Ray for calling from Cali.

Hickey. I think we might have a beef here that you might have a call of beef. Did I hear that ending correctly? You did. And I think, I think we have a caller who is from Michigan who might be a Greg from Michigan might be calling any minute day or second now saying that he, his line has been stolen. I think that's what that might be.

Who's the real Mr. Positivity. Oh my God. Don't the Hickey. Don't, don't, don't fan the flames now. Don't do that. Question. I don't do that.

Don't do that. I didn't think that we'd be asked about Will Howard being in the same place of Hickey. Didn't they not let him up on the stage after they won? That is correct. Yes.

There's too many people on the stage. Yeah. Okay. All right. So right there, that's all he's off the draft board.

They didn't let him on the stage after they won the championship. Uh, he said he sucked at the combine. Yeah. Yeah. Let me know if he ends up like Tom Brady.

Okay. If he ends up like Brock Purdy, I don't know. Oh, we'll see.

He'll have a nice job as a backup somewhere. I presume. Listen, folks, if you've missed a minute or second of the show, go ahead and hit rewind on the free Odyssey app. Thank you to our guests for joining us. We had Tony Pauline come in NFL draft analysts, and thank you as well to Mac angle from the Fort worth star telegram to talk about the terrible maps. I hope you have a better evening, a better night than Mavericks fans. And if you're a Mavericks fan, I still love you. We'll be back tomorrow. 6 PM Eastern three Pacific.

The JR sport free show is done on the infinity sports network. Do not move. Bart Winkler is coming up next. Y'all be safe. Be well, be cool and be smooth. Thank you.
