It is the JR Sport Brief Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. I'm coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia. I'm being joined by super producer and host, Ryan Hickey.
He is in New York City. And wherever you are, thank you for listening. Happy holidays and Christmas and Hanukkah and Kwanzaa and everything. All of it. If I'm missing something, good, that too.
Now, like the one from Seinfeld, Festivus, all of the things. Anyway, I'll be here with you for the next three hours. This is when the show gets started. Well, it got started last hour.
It gets started 6 p.m. Eastern, 3 Pacific. And we've talked about a lot already, how terrible the New York Jets are. There's reports that this teenage son of the owner is influencing decisions in the organization.
He's looking at video game stats and saying, oh, this guy isn't good. We shouldn't bring him in. We talked about Alabama. The University of Alabama is out here asking for money to help fund NIL deals for the athletes. Yes, start paying the students.
You already pay to go to the school. Pay us some more money to keep our athletes. Matt Ishbia, Phoenix Suns, lowering prices instead of paying $9 for a hot dog, a glass of water, a bottle of water, a fountain soda, popcorn, $2 now. Prices need to be lowered all across the country. Damn it, I might run for office next year. What is my platform?
Lowering prices by being a pain in the ass on the radio. Hickey, I should consider that, right? Can I do that? You should team up with the rent is too damn high guy.
I think you could have a lot of people on your side. Is is he still he's still around? I don't know.
That was probably a lot longer than I think it is. Rent is to you. I search rent. First thing that came up is too damn high. OK, the rent is too damn high. Jimmy McMillan.
Oh my God. Is he still here? I don't know if he's here. Wait, he's still here.
Seventy eight. He's still here. OK, still kicking young enough to be in office. That's for sure.
Yeah. Tag team with him. Lower prices in stadiums, lower rent around the country. I think you could be the first unanimous president of the United States by teaming up with him. The food is food is too high and so is the rent.
I guess a little party name, but hey, you know, I'll be with it. I don't know if I like him, though. I agree with him. The rent is too high.
Nine dollars for a hot dog is just abuse. If you missed any of the show, you can hit rewind on the free Odyssey app. Thank you to everybody listening live on their local Infinity Sports Network affiliate. If you got Sirius XM, it's Channel 158.
If you got a smart speaker, ask it to play the Infinity Sports Network. We're going to get into some college football, take a look at the playoff. Starts tomorrow. We got Bobby Carpenter joining us.
Used to play for the Ohio State University. He'll be here. We'll talk about the Broncos and Chargers.
It is Thursday. A lot of implications there, both teams trying to cement themselves into the postseason. The Broncos, if they win tonight, they're in. The Chargers, well, if they win, they got a better chance of getting in. They still need some help, but the Chargers should be in the postseason. And so this is a very important game for both of these organizations in the NFC West. And you know what speaking, or excuse me, the AFC West, NFC West.
Well, I see Hawks. They gonna suck. So my apologies in advance, but speaking of the AFC West, we know who's at the top.
It's the Kansas City Chiefs. And today we got some news. Patrick Mahomes is okay. We've heard that all week long. Apparently he is going to play against the Texans on Sunday. And then we got news on a wide receiver that they have. A matter of fact, here's Andy Reid today.
He's like, come on now. Patrick Mahomes, he's most likely going to play. Knock it off. I know the questions are about Patrick. He worked out this week full and we'll most likely end up playing. We'll just see how things work out today.
Okay, Andy. So he practiced. Was he running? Was he jumping? Was he doing jumping jacks? Was he doing backflips? What do you look like at practice?
He moved around pretty good. So you're always looking to make sure they can get out of the way, not to further any harm to him. So that's what I look at. Yeah, nobody wants further harm. Nobody wants any harm at all. Patrick Mahomes says he's good, then he's good. Also, by the way, this guy should be returning Hollywood Brown. This man hasn't played a snap for the Kansas City Chiefs all season long. Injured himself prior to the season with a busted up collarbone in his shoulder. Now he's going to be fine. Last year playing for Arizona, he hauled in 574 yards receiving at four touchdowns.
And they've been looking for somebody to emerge. Xavier Worthy is still in his rookie year. Rashee Rice injured, but then also being a jackass away from the field, driving like a complete maniac. Travis Kelce getting older. So yeah, they could use all the help that they can get on the offensive side of the ball. But of course, having Patrick Mahomes out there, it's the most important thing.
855-212-4227. We'll talk about the Broncos and the Chargers. We know they're second place. They're battling for second place in the AFC West.
We'll talk about the Broncos and the Chargers in a second. Let's go to Kent. Kent is calling from the great state of Virginia. You're on the JR Sportbree show. What's up Kent?
Hi JR, how you doing, bro? I wish everybody happy Merry Christmas and New Year and everything. Well, thank you. Yeah, the only thing I say, I will back you.
If you ever ran for president and the other guy, I just pulled 35 years in the military. Well, thanks. Yeah, the prices need to be lowered on everything once and for all.
You need to fan certain particular things. Yeah, $9 hot dogs. And with the Jets, the only two things that I actually did right with the Jets was Brett Barton inquired very much and had with that coach Rex Ryan. But what about the footman? The footman?
Yeah. What about him? What about the head coach? That was the only two things that actually the Jets actually had right for once in their life. It was wait, wait, wait, let's go back again. The footman, the footman Rex Ryan was one of the good things.
And what was the other one? Brett Favre. Brett Favre.
Oh my God. I can't even say what Brett Favre was on the New York. If Rex Ryan was the footman, then Brett Favre was. Brett Favre didn't cry very much.
He didn't try to make it where he was trying to get the team better as much as Rex Ryan was. That New York Jets team with Brett Favre, they collapsed at the end of the year. Brett Favre got hurt. Brett Favre, he was also sending photos of his genitalia to a sideline reporter.
And then Rex Ryan was driving around at parking lots, making foot videos with his wife. I mean, I don't know if this was a good time for the New York Jets. But you know, anyway. It's okay.
But yeah, with the taxes and everything, yeah, I agree with you. If you run for president, I'll back you up. Well, thank you.
Don't expect it. But I appreciate you, Kent. Thank you. And thank you for your service too.
Thank you so much. Yeah, if Kent is going to root for Rex Ryan and Brett Favre with the Jets, of course he's going to root for me. By the way, I'm not running for president. Don't expect it.
Ever. It's ridiculous. Everybody thinks they can run for president now.
Whatever. We don't even have qualified people running for president. Anybody can do it. One day, The Rock will be president. Stephen A. Smith is sitting around saying that I could be president. Like, Hickey, I told you I watched Aaron Rodgers' documentary. Like, they had a whole scene. Like, he got cameras following him around.
RFK is asking him, you know, if he be his vice president. I'm like, yo, what world am I living in? Am I on the ayahuasca?
Am I on drugs? Like, what am I looking at right now? It is sometimes hard to differentiate real life and fiction.
And that is definitely one of the cases, without a doubt. I'm watching this and I'm like, what is this? Like, we're living in the worst reality show ever. Ever. I don't want to run.
I just want to be an advocate. How about that? Do you think, by the way, if, because I was in the summertime, right? If we told Aaron Rodgers, hey, look, you played this year. This is how it is. You're 4-10. The team stinks.
You stink. Do you think back in the summer when that report first came out of that RFK was, RFK Jr. was deliberating of making Rodgers' VP, he would have took it? Oh, if he knew that he was going to be ass? Right. Well, he says he loves football. So, I don't know.
He loves football so much, he has to think about whether or not he's going to play in another month or so. I don't know. I don't know.
Could you imagine if he decided to run with him? Oh, my God. Oh, man.
What could have been? You should watch. I've watched two episodes. So, when I was putting the show together, I watched his show, right? I watched two episodes of Aaron Rodgers on Netflix. Hickey, you have to watch.
You got to watch now so we can talk about it. Is it worth it? No. It feels like it's insufferable. It's a guy who is 41 years old already in a midlife crisis.
So, it's a car crash and you can't turn away and that's why it's entertaining? No, he says things and I go, hey, you know what? I agree with him about that. But then I go, but why you got to be so weird and disingenuous?
And why you got to be so nasty about things? And he is a, he seems to me like a confused fellow. And nobody has all the answers. And I give him credit for, you know, questioning things. But he's just a jerk and how he does it. He's just a jerk. He needs a hug. He needs a hug. He needs a hug.
I don't know who wants to give him a hug. He was laying in the water and doing the ayahuasca and they doing all of this stuff. And I'm like, oh, you got to do all this just to get the drugs? Just give me the drugs? Streamline the process.
Cut out the mailman. Man, why we got to, we got to do a ceremony and I get it. It's spirituality attached to it and all. I understand tradition, but why we got to, why we got video, Hickey, every rumor and no wonder Aaron Rogers is angry about everything all year long. I got to refute this and I got to tell people I didn't say that and I'm not doing this. And meanwhile, he got a whole camera crew following him around. What does he think they're going to do?
They're going to sit on the footage until Aaron says, okay, guys, put it out. And I come on, man, this guy's sitting in Costa Rica in dirty water. Yeah. And then gets mad when people go, yeah, he's in Costa Rica right now thinking about whether he wants to play. Like, come on now.
I wish him nothing but the best. He is certainly a, uh, a confused individual. Like a lot of people, uh, eight five five two one two 42 27.
That's eight five five two one two 42 27. Somebody who is not confused about what the hell they want is Russell Wilson. And speaking of television shows and I, Hickey, I can't even keep up with all of this stuff. Like sometimes I forget that we have hard knocks in the middle of the season. They got, we got a whole hard knocks that follows around the teams and just the AFC North and you know how tough it is. And so Russell Wilson, who's been having a career resurgence playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Mike Tomlin, Russell Wilson was signing autographs for kids at some event because that's what Russell Wilson does. Kissing babies, shaking hands, going to the children's hospital, all great things.
You should do it. He's also thrown for almost 2000 yards, 13 touchdowns. He's only turned the ball over three times, at least in the air having a good year.
The Steelers at 10 and four. And so of course this is his, not final year's contract. It is, he's getting paid $30 million by the Broncos.
He's getting $1 million from the Pittsburgh Steelers. And so a kid in a genius way asked Russell Wilson, well, what are you doing? You're going to resign? You're going to stick around? And Russell Wilson tried to dodge the question and then he finally answered it. Listen. He's like, yeah, I love it here.
Sure. I want to stay here and win a Superbowl. Do the Steelers really have a choice at this point? Unless Russell Wilson suffers some type of ridiculous catastrophic injury, why in the hell would they get off of him for what? I mean, they got Justin Fields there. He's been hurt even as a backup. He had a four and two record as a starter, but then, you know, he couldn't even drive the ball down the field consistently. Now with Russell Wilson, especially if Pickens is healthy enough, you know, he can go out there and throw the rock. We know that Russell Wilson got a cannon on him.
And so why are you going to let this guy go when you have a record of 10 and four and you got some room for growth? I think it's almost certain unless there's some type of terrible injury as the season closes out. Russell Wilson is going to be bad.
Come on. They got Baltimore on Saturday. They got Kansas City on Christmas. We just talked about Patrick Mahomes, how he's going to play in the final game for the Pittsburgh Steelers. They take on Cincinnati. And the Steelers just better hope that as the season closes out, they don't, they don't got to deal with more injuries. I mean, a TJ Watt is hurt now as well.
He's questionable on Saturday against the Ravens with an ankle issue. This man has 11, 12 sacks on the season. The Steelers defense is sixth in the league and points allowed, a little less than 20 a game. And Steelers are good. And TJ Watt is their best defensive player. And let's just say TJ Watt, I think he's going to try to play.
Of course he is. Man, the NFL really cares about his players, huh? They really care about their players. What we're going to do is so we can get good ratings. We're going to have our top teams play on Sunday and then Saturday, and then we'll make them play in the middle of the week on Christmas.
And then eventually we're going to add another week to the season. Who cares about these guys? One guy gets hurt. We just bring on another one. NFL is ruthless.
$9 for a hot dog. It's the JR sport re-show here with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network. We're going to take a break. When we come back, we're going to take a look at Thursday night football because then yeah, in about an hour's time, a little less than now, we're going to have kickoff between the Broncos and the chargers. Two teams jockeying for playoff spots.
I'll tell you who I think is going to win and what we should look forward to in the game. It's the JR sport re-show on the infinity sports network. You are listening to the JR sport brief.
It's the JR sport re-show here with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network. We're about 40 minutes, 40 ish minutes away from kickoff Thursday night football. We got the Denver Broncos and the Los Angeles chargers who still belong in San Diego. If you ask me, but the NFL is greedy. So they play in Los Angeles. Uh, but anyway, these are two teams, not named the chiefs who planned the AFC West. The other team is pitiful. They're the Raiders.
Who cares about them? Uh, these two teams are trying to get to the post season. I would say that both of them are probably going to make the post season. And you think about where they are at in their current state. The Broncos have a rookie quarterback in bow Knicks.
And here they are. If they win this game tonight in Los Angeles, the Denver Broncos go to the post season. Sean Payton has the quarterback that he wanted as someone who he can control and mold. Not like Russell Wilson who drove him nuts. And meanwhile, you have the chargers who bring back Jim Harbaugh to coach in the NFL. Just won a championship with Michigan back in January and poop. Here he is back in the NFL. Good for him. This man has been trying to get back into the NFL for years, had to deal with all the scrutiny at Michigan. They lowered his salary and getting ready to give him the boot. And pretty much he wins at the end and then he leaves.
It's like, yo, yo can deal with all the problems that happened under my watch. I'm leaving, I'm gone. So the chargers, they're good too, but they've lost three out of their last four games. And on a two game losing streak, they just lost to Tampa Bay, got smashed 40 to 17 in their last game. And in order for the chargers to secure a spot in the playoffs, they have to win tonight. And then they have to hope that either Miami or Indiana, Indianapolis, that they lose. Well, I think the chargers will still make the post season, but both teams can't win this damn game. This is going to be an interesting one. And Jim Harbaugh knows it's going to be tough because it's Bronco's defense.
Damn it. It's one of the best in the league. And Jim Harbaugh knows as much.
Listen to this man. The edge pressure, uh, you know, it's been, been phenomenal. Um, advanced Joseph has done a, done a great job with the defense. Um, you know, scoring defense, uh, pressure sacks, um, takeaways, you know, uh, you know, they've, they've got it all there. They're, uh, they're an elite defense.
Wow. That is the least enthusiastic that I have heard Jim Harbaugh sound in forever. Hickey, what do they do? They didn't give him his coffee today. Like, what's his problem? He sounds, it's like he got kicked in the back. Usually he's exuding energy.
I don't, I don't know. I don't know if the short week got to him and he's not sleeping. Well, I mean, he said coming back to the NFL, he's like, it's like being reborn. It's like a baby's birth and now he's just miserable already. Come on.
You do best. Somebody needs to give him a hug. Maybe it's, maybe it's when he lost to his brother. Wait, he lost, right? He lost. He was a loser. He was a loser on national TV again. He's never beat his brother.
Has he? Oh, and three. Yeah, boy. Maybe that's why he blues into your big brother.
It'll do that. So you play the mind games. Meanwhile, Sean Payton on the other side, I told you the Broncos are on a four game winning streak. Now, even though they've been winning Bo Nix, yeah, he finally had a stinker and nobody's just going to be perfect all the way through and beating the Indianapolis Colts 31 and 13. He did help them score a bunch of points at the end of the game. Well, Indianapolis Colts also gave that game away, but Bo Nix, he threw three interceptions. He threw three of them in the game.
Nobody's perfect. He's still having an amazing season, almost 3000 yards passing, 20 touchdowns for the rookie. He has four more touchdowns on the ground. Bo Nix is in rookie of the year conversation.
It's going to go to Jayden Daniels, but Sean Payton, knowing that all they got to do is win one game and get in. He says, listen, I'm the coach. I'm not worried about all that. I'm just going to coach and worry about nothing else.
Focus really is, is on us, you know, and, and obviously it's a division opponent and we have great respect for them. Um, but the focus is on our preparation and attention to detail. Okay.
Attention to detail. All right, fine. Whatever. Where does Bo Nix feel about this? The rookie quarterback, the man who, in another space, time and error might still be eligible to play in college football, but now he's in the NFL. Bo Nix, how old is he? 40. He's not 40 yet, right? Like 25, 25 going on 40. Could collect social security soon.
Oh my goodness. Did you see SARC? SARC got mad about the guy who's getting another year in college football, but he's not 40 yet, right? Like 25, 25 going on 40.
Year of eligibility. You hear about that? Which, well, there's a lot of the guys. Well, which guys are you mad about? I don't know.
Yeah, I don't know. He, there was one guy who got another year and he said, what are we doing? 20 SARC is like, we're going to have 28, 29 and 30 year olds playing college. Like, what are we doing? It's almost Bo Nix. At least he's had, he's doing well for the, uh, the Broncos besides throwing three interceptions in the game. Bo Nix says, man, I'm learning to give me a break. Going all the way back to seventh grade. When I started playing, you know, you throw picks and you got to move on. And, you know, I've done, been on the opposite and, you know, shown bad, bad body language. So, um, you know, it's just reps and just resiliency and just learning that, you know, you're going to get a new opportunity. You got to flush it and move on to the next. Yeah.
You got to learn how to move on everything in due time. It's hard out here is someone who has all the experience in the world. He knows about losing and being great and dealing with a bunch of crap.
It's Justin Herbert, Justin Herbert. He knows what's on the line. He's not playing coy. He's not playing stupid. Even though he's dealing with his own ankle injury.
It's not like a Justin Herbert is always the most fleet of foot. He can move, but he said, man, we need to win this damn game. I'm trying to go to the playoffs. Awesome opportunity for us. You know, we, we got a lot of football left and, um, you know, it's, it's a great opportunity for us to go out there and continue to get better and develop. And, um, you know, there are so many things that we'd like to clean up offensively. And, um, you know, I think it's just one of those things that we're guys are excited to get back here to today and obviously a quick week, but make sure that we're getting all the work in and getting going.
Come on. Everybody's going to the play. They're going, both of them are going. Broncos are definitely going to the post season and even if they're going to the playoffs, and even though the charges need some help, like the charges are going to, okay. The charges in less of a position to lose this game, knowing that the Broncos only have to win one more game to make the post season and charges need some help.
The charges don't got no weapons. That's a lad McConkie, poor JK Dobbins. He gone. He got that knee injury, by the way, speaking of someone who's not gone, it's been reported that the Montgomery, David Montgomery on the lions, he's not having knee surgery that he's opting for rehab for his MCL sprain. And that there's a possibility that he can be back for the post season. So maybe the lions have, uh, maybe they they've dodged a little bit of a, of an injury bullet. I don't know how confident I would be that he would return. We'll see what happens there.
But the charges, I know that sounds wild. You probably and should favor them at home. This is a tough one.
Hickey. This is another one of those tough field goal games. That's what I think. I like a close score here as well. Division opponent, uh, short week. I like the road team here. I think Denver goes in their role. Like you said, four wins in a row. Bo Nix did not play well on Sunday yet.
They still want to handle it. I like that. I think he has a bounce back performance, even though it is a good chargers defense. Give me the Broncos here.
2320. Yeah, I think so. Yeah. I think, uh, we're going to have a big play. It's going to come down to like certain or something like that. Snatching a ball out of the air from Herbert.
This is, this is a close one. And I know the charges have a new head coach who actually knows how to coach. I know the chargers are hoping that they can move on and move away from some of the disastrous endings and choke jobs that they've had over the years. No disrespect to a coach Lynn, but things have been bad forever with these chargers. And I think they're going to fall at eight and seven. I think that's a little bit more realistic. Denver Broncos are surging four game winning streak.
I agree with Hickey. I think they reached five. I think we got a field goal game here. And I also believe that Sean Payton is not going to allow Bo Nix to throw away this game. Man, man, you got a rookie QB.
You got to learn how to work with them. And Sean Payton is much of a jerk that he is a good coach. You can't take that away from him. Eight, five, five, two, one, two, 42, 27. That's eight, five, five, two, one, two, 42, 27. This portion of the show is sponsored by the new 2025 Hyundai Tucson hybrid that has class leading advanced safety features like the available blind spot view monitor to make your ride more enjoyable. It's the JR sport re-show here with you on the infinity sports network. We're going to take a break. When we come back on the other side, speaking of coaches, yes, Sean Payton's a good coach. Always comes across as miserable, always throwing jabs and shots to other people in the NFL. We're going to talk about a head coach who is not currently in the NFL and he should be, and he might be heading to college. I'm talking about Mike Vrabel. Where might he coach if he does the Bill Bellacheck and goes to college and what coach might get the boot to make way. Let's just say Mike Vrabel might be connected to where he went to school, the Ohio state university. We're going to talk about Vrabel and Ryan Day in Tennessee and Ohio state. We're going to get into it all on the other side. You're listening to the JR sport brief, the JR sport brief show here with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network. 8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27.
That's 8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27. Man, we talked about Thursday night football, big playoff implications tonight for the Denver Broncos and the Chargers in Los Angeles. Broncos win. They're in the postseason with a rookie quarterback and they improve their record to 10 and 5. The Los Angeles Chargers, well, they've lost three out of their last four games. Their record is currently eight and six. They would fall to eight and seven and they would probably still get into the playoffs as one of the wildcards in the AFC.
They just need a little bit of help. We got a couple of weeks before the NFL playoffs get started. Every team has about three games left.
But on the college football side, we are staring right into the mouth of the postseason. I forgot who said it. Hickey, who said they can't wait?
It was Bart Scott, right? Bart Scott said, I can't wait. Can't wait. See you in Pittsburgh, Bart.
It can't wait. College football College football playoffs starts tomorrow. We got a first round match up between Indiana and Notre Dame. We got some more action on Saturday.
We got SMU and Penn State. Hickey, you going to be out there? You going? I am going. I'm going to brave the elements, brave the cold and be out there early, ready to go. 20 something degrees, mid 20s, a little bit of wind, no precipitation. I would love for it to snow. That'd be great.
It doesn't look like it will. Great atmosphere. You got warm boots if it snows, right? You're going to be warm? Boots, leggings, hat.
It's a whiteout. I got a white jacket, so I'll be ready to go. Oh, I love it. Good. Let's go. Have fun, man.
Have some fun. Well, last game I went to they lost, so fingers crossed. We're talking about a win here, JR. Last time, didn't you see the Ohio State? Yeah, I did.
Did not go well. I think it'll be better with SMU. I think. I think. I believe. I hope.
I think so. I'll be watching from home. So, you know, I'm not going to text you because I want you to keep your hands warm in your pockets. You don't need to text. You got them gloves where you could text through the fingers or whatever?
Oh, no, no, no. I'm bringing the heavy duty like where all four fingers are in one. There's no separate finger holes. We're going like the Eskimo gloves. Hickey, when I see people with gloves like that here in Atlanta, I go those are punk gloves. Like, why are you in them gloves? Like, you know, the fingerless gloves where you can text like you're talking about the one when I see people walking around Atlanta, Georgia, the temperature drops down on 50. And you got there'll be always one guy walking down the street with, you know, like snow gloves. And I'm like, I'm saying my back of my head, I'm going, why does that wear them punk ass gloves is 50 degrees outside? Yeah, that's a that guy problem.
That's soft. Yeah. You know, you never know where somebody is from, Hickey. When I used to go out to India, it would be like 95 degrees at like, you know, 12 noon. But in the morning time before the sun like really rose and decided to roast everybody, it'd be it'd be like a cool, brisk, you know, 65, 70.
And everybody outside opening up their shops and getting a coffee. These guys would be wearing earmuffs. No, earmuffs is cultural, man. You know, ears get cold first. If you if your ears get cold, the rest of your body gets cold.
So they wear earmuffs. Yes. I do not know the the weather in India. Is it like 95 and hot all year round? Is it seasonal? It's seasonal as in be 70 degrees. I mean, as you go further north into the the mountains and of course, it gets cold.
But as you go further south, it's like a lot of places. The temperature is hot as hell. It can get hot.
And so imagine it being 95 in the middle of the day in the afternoon, in the morning time, a cool 65 to 70. But if it's chilly in the morning, before it heats up like hell, guys wearing earmuffs. Now, Hickey, I'm talking about talking about regular pants, a button up shirt, flip flops and earmuffs. No, it's cultural, you know.
I guess whatever makes you happy, whatever makes you comfortable. But Hickey, I asked. That's an interesting get up. So why are they wearing earmuffs? It's it's summertime. Why are they wearing earmuffs? Because it's cold and no jacket. They just it's the ears get cold. Your body gets cold. I said, OK, is that real or is that like a wives tale?
That's what they said. Hickey, I mean, come on. Does if you got a sore throat, does drinking a Schweppes ginger ale really help your ills? If you have I don't know. I think there's medical stuff behind this.
You know, if you got a cold, if you eat chicken noodle soup all day, is it going to make you feel better or is it just warm your soul? I don't know. Don't we all have these things? I guess you're right.
I didn't think about it like that. I guess you're right. Yeah. But I got a cold and drink some ginger ale and my head hurts. Have some chicken soup. Like what's that? What's that doing for me?
It's great marketing right there. Let me tell you. Yeah. You need to you need to have milk with you for breakfast and cereal. What? I do.
I need to have a bowl of sugar. Really? Yeah, it's good for you. OK. All right.
It's things exist. So, hey, wearing earmuffs in the summertime in the morning is not the worst thing. Not the worst. Well, make sure you bring your earmuffs out to Beaver Stadium. I'll be watching from home. I'll be watching all the NFL games.
I'm going to watch Clemson at Texas and then at night. It's supposed to be cold as well in the 20s. We're going to see if Tennessee can deal with it. It gets cold out in Tennessee, too.
It gets cold. They'll be all right, especially with that defense. This is the game I think a lot of people are looking forward to.
Tennessee in the Ohio State University. Why? People want to see if Ryan Day is going to cry. People want to see if he's going to be able to withstand the pressure. I mean, he lost to Michigan.
He still might be crying in his pillow somewhere right now. And I think he's going to the winner is going to move on to face Oregon, the same team that beat Ohio State already. They got a great defense. They got all these young, amazing offensive weapons. Now we just have to see whether or not they could put things together and go on a run in Tennessee.
They are not shabby. I told you about that number one ranked defense. You got Pierce on the defensive line. They got a bunch of other future NFL players on the line as well. But I want to see what happens with Ryan Day. Is he going to be out there crying? Is he going to get fired if they stink the joint up? They're sick of looking at this dude losing to Michigan. And a matter of fact, being at home, he was asked, are you worried about being booed if things go bad on Saturday?
Well, that happens sometimes on a three and out anyway, so we're good. We're used to it now. I mean, we're fired up to be at home. We can't wait to be at home. It's going to be a great atmosphere. And our guys are fired up to go finish the season with a win in Ohio Stadium.
Now I'm so happy. He sounds like he's in a better mood because that guy has been miserable since losing to Michigan. Josh Heupel, head coach of Tennessee. He ain't in no miserable mood. He's kind of happy because there have been so many reports about fans in Tennessee clamoring to get their hands on the thirty five hundred to four thousand tickets that will be available to them. Now, that's a drop in a bucket when you got to think about a hundred thousand people sitting and watching a football game. But he said, nah, I know our fans. They're trying to get in it, trying to cram as many as possible in Columbus.
Not with this fan base. It's a nice short drive up there. Christmas is right around the corner. It's a great Christmas present. A great Christmas present to go to Columbus. I love Columbus, by the way. Nice people. They have a great brewery. The Columbus crew is nice. Yeah, I like Columbus. That'd be the only reason to go.
Great Christmas present. But outside of that, Ryan Day said, listen, I know people want to fire me and get rid of me if we lose. But all I'm thinking about is the game in front of me.
This is what he told WBNS News. You know, the goal all along was to make the playoffs. Well, we're here. And, you know, we've won ten games this year. We've had two top five wins. And along the way, there's been different challenges. You know, this year, the Big Ten changed.
You know, we had three top five games this year, two on the road. And we took on some injuries. And so along the way this year, there's been twists and turns, some things that went well, some things that obviously we'd like to have back. But you got to learn from those.
You got to make adjustments. And I think every team that's in this playoff right now, you know, is going to have issues. And it's the teams that can address those issues going into the playoffs. That's going to give themselves the best chance to win. So we're excited about being in this game. At least he acknowledged the fact that, yeah, he screwed up. But what he's not acknowledging is that if he doesn't have a good result, there's a possibility that they might give him the boot.
And it's kind of crazy. I mentioned to you about Mike Vrabel. Mike Vrabel played at the Ohio State University.
We know he is a three-time Super Bowl champ with the Pats. There's no reason that he should have got fired from the Tennessee Titans outside of, oh, he's the smartest guy in the building. And he was telling them, hey, you're giving me garbage to work with.
What do you think you're going to get back? And they fired him. Mike Vrabel is going to get hired somewhere and he's going to be a damn good head coach. How about this Dan Orlovsky? He was on Pat McAfee's show and he said, Mike Vrabel, oh, he's paying attention to what's going on at the Ohio State University.
You think it's just the NFL? He needs to look at college too. Listen to this.
Who do you think about for that particular situation? Vrabel's still out there? Oh, yes. Vrabel's still out there. Bill Belichick has an opt-out of a deal. I think Vrabel's spoken for. I just think that Vrabel's probably got a very clear site and path with where he is going to be likely coaching.
Where? He'll be coaching football. Pro or college? I just- So we wouldn't have thought college, right?
The answer is college. I'm not a reporter. O-H-I-O. Is that what you're saying?
I think that there's a vision for where he kind of likely ends up coaching next year. Okay, Dan. Not a reporter. Dan, no. You're acting like one. Listen, I've come on your show before and I said I've heard something and they got me in a lot of trouble.
So I'm trying not to do that. Man, does everybody want to go to college? Does Mike Vrabel- See, that's the thing. We just talked about Alabama asking for NIL money and Belichick went back to college because he couldn't get- Let's be real. He didn't get a job in the NFL.
So he said, I'm just going to take this job in college. Mike Vrabel can coach in the NFL at a very high level. I mean, this dude was out here in NFL games manipulating the clock. He was utilizing penalties to manipulate the clock to his advantage.
Meanwhile, we got guys like Iberflus who doesn't have a job anymore, who couldn't even manipulate the clock legally to get a field goal off. You know, if I'm Mike Vrabel, do you want to coach in the league? You want the big money?
You want the longevity? Do you want to deal with the changing landscape of college? We know what the NFL is. With Mike Vrabel, would he want to go to college and deal with all of the changes?
I don't know about that. Belichick, yeah, he ain't got no choice. Mike Vrabel is still a relatively young dude. I would not necessarily rush to coach the Ohio State University.
I'd be at the NFL still kicking ass. Mike Vrabel still looks like he could play in the NFL, by the way. And Ryan Day, good luck. I think Ohio State will win and people are making a big deal about how cold it's going to be.
I don't think that'll be too much of an issue. It's going to be a close game. Tennessee can win this, but I'm going to give it to the Ohio State University at home. And Ryan Day, if he loses and if he loses and if he loses ugly, yeah.
Now, I really do think he'd get the boot and then we'd really see him crying. Forget Michigan. It's the JR Sport Reshow here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. Speaking of changes, the NFL is thinking about changing the Pro Bowl. They are. And the NBA is changing its All-Star game. It is. And then we got Bobby Carpenter, former champion with Ohio State. He's joining us in a bit. Don't move. JR Sport Reshow.
