Thank you for being locked in. Maybe you are on the West Coast. Maybe you're in Los Angeles. Because minutes from now, we got kickoff. The Los Angeles Rams hosting the Baltimore Ravens. It's Monday Night Football. It's the Harbaugh Bowl. Jim from the Chargers.
John from the Ravens. They're going at it. Trying to establish some type of dominance. Not dominance, more so playoff positioning. We'll keep you up to date as it gets started. Hickey is going with the Chargers.
I'm going with the Ravens. This game is, well, is going to be done after this show is over. So, we'll talk more about it tomorrow.
And we'll keep you updated as it goes on. You can always listen on the free Odyssey app. Your local Infinity Sports Network affiliate.
Thank you to everybody tuned in on Sirius XM 158. And if you have a smart speaker at home at work, you can talk to it. Ask the machine. Talk to whoever it is you talk to in that speaker.
Ask it to play the Infinity Sports Network. And how about this? We got a, Hickey, we already got a package. We got a package of them and their dad.
Oh, how sweet. The Harbaugh Ball. You can only schedule this from, Hickey, why don't they just do this game on Thanksgiving? Why did they wait? Right?
Oh, that's a good idea. Like the night game? Family stuff, right? Families could sit around. They're all mad at each other at this point. And they could look at the Harbaugh's love each other. Look at that happy family as they now go toe to toe against each other, trying to beat the other's brains in. I guess figuratively, of course, on the field.
Yeah, that could have brought America together even more than we already are right now. I doubt it. There comes that point in time. Hickey, do you know how many relationships are going to end on Thursday and Friday? Of all types. All types of relationships. All types.
A good amount, I'm sure. And I hope it's on social media to consume. It's going to be families destroyed.
Husbands and wives and all other type relation. People are going to hate each other come Thursday, Friday. Somebody's going to say something wrong at the dinner table. And somebody that you only see once every five years says the wrong thing is.
Hickey, things get things get treacherous. It's best just to eat, watch football and go home. That's why I just do exactly that. I mind my business. Don't ask a lot of questions. Watch the games, say I'm doing work, so I can't talk and just people say stuff. I'll listen. I'm not I'm not poking around.
That's what you say. I'm watching a game for work. I'm working.
I'm on the clock. I need to use that one. I need to use that. Nobody gives a damn what I say.
You know, I need to use that one. I'm working. Leave me alone.
It worked for me at the wedding on Saturday in the church. I'm streaming the game. I'm working on the clock. You were watching you were watching Penn State during the ceremony. I was actually watching Ohio State, Indiana. It was an early ceremony at two o'clock. OK. This was before Ohio State really random random off the field. Wait, wait, wait.
During the ceremony in the church. Yeah, that is correct. You sound like Homer Simpson. Like, but he didn't have a cell phone. Right.
Then they want to watch football in the church or something. I don't know, man. That's you would know better than me when it comes to Simpson references. I'll leave that to you. OK.
I've seen a few episodes, but not enough to, like, you know, call back. You know, unfortunately, you know, Bart. Right. Of course. I know the crew.
But like that episode you're talking about, I just I can't pull right now. I don't know. I just it's more so an American thing. Like, think about this, really.
How many how many services, how many church or whatever synagogue, whatever you do, whatever you work, whatever the case might be. The entire I feel like the calendar on Sundays in America. It's built around football. Come on. Let's be real.
True. Churches in the morning, games in the afternoon. We got services that say, hey, we'll do this and this time and do communion at this time. Just not the butt up against football. I guess crazy how much of an influence that that football has on American sports.
But hey, this is the world that we live in. What do you think they do in Canada on Sunday afternoons? Watch hockey. I don't know.
Hockey night in Canada. Right. I don't I don't know.
It's a great question. Go outside and eat some or drink some maple syrup and be cold. Drink maple syrup.
What? Right from the tree. Just tap it right out. What, get drunk off it at like Sunday? It's not drunk, but just enjoy it. I mean, it's a nice little Sunday stroll, nice little Sunday tradition.
OK. All right. I need to do a poll. What do other countries do on Sunday afternoon in wintertime? Now, sit with their families, make dinner, you know, go outside, enjoy the elements, enjoy family. What do Americans do?
We eat and drink and stay away from our families. Congratulations. Thank you so much to the NFL, which has taken over every day, by the way. And by the way, do we have another stupid ass Black Friday? We got a game on Friday. Do we got it? I know we got college football.
Do we got we got NFL this week? Of course. Come on.
You think Amazon now is going to just ignore Black Friday and not capitalize? Of course. That's right.
I do remember this. Do you know who we have? Yeah, it might be like the just crap that we got last year.
Yeah, we got Las Vegas and Kansas City. That's right. Oh, my.
We know now Gardner Minshew. All right. Yeah, this. He didn't die, just broke his collarbone.
He's very much alive. Yeah. Now Daniel Jones is going to show up so he can get his collarbone broken, too. Is that what it is? Like Daniel Jones is like, yeah, I left one, two and nine team to go to another one so I could break my collarbone.
Yeah. Unfortunately, the day after Thanksgiving, America has to witness the Las Vegas Raiders take on Kansas City. We have no idea who's going to start a quarterback for Las Vegas.
Aidan O'Connell maybe possibly will be back. If not, either way, Kansas City. I know Patrick Mahomes. He's been looking for blowouts. I actually watched this game yesterday. Asked me what's wrong with me. I have no idea. The Carolina Panthers were hanging in there.
I look for a while. You know, every time Kansas City was going to run away, they didn't. Carolina stuck around and ultimately Kansas City beat them. And Patrick Mahomes is like, we need to start blowing teams out. We can't have these one score victories. Well, you're getting ready to take on the team that stinks, bro.
They suck. This is your division foe and they're at home, no less. Kansas City will be on Friday. Good luck to the Raiders. Hickey, how about just RIP to the entire Raiders organization for this year?
That probably makes more sense. I do, though, like your Daniel Jones suggestion. And based on how former Giants have played this year, watch the Raiders sign Daniel Jones tomorrow.
He starts on Friday and then outplays Patrick Mahomes in a Raiders win. No, wouldn't that just be fitting? No, we can't have that. Can't have that. Saquon Barker leaves balling out. Xavier McKinney leaves balling out. You know, a lot of former Giants are balling out.
Wouldn't it just fit the script? But if you're Daniel Jones, you're in an interesting position. If you end up on a team like the Raiders, you're almost set. You know you're going to play.
But are you going to be able to put forth your your best showing? This man wants to start for a team next year. I'm sure he's not dumb. He knows that he's either A, going to start for a bad team. Maybe he gets lucky and starts for an average team or B, he's just going to have to be a backup. And if he plays for the Raiders, he's going to be decimated. And everybody knows he's going to be playing behind a crap line with a crap team. Just find Brock Bowers and hope to move the ball down the field or he can be a backup somewhere. You know, we've heard rumors that, you know, Daniel Jones, does he go to Baltimore and back up Lamar Jackson? You know, what would he look like with the Ravens if Lamar goes down? Would anybody be shocked if Lamar Jackson got hurt?
I think the answer is no. The Minnesota Vikings, the team that he basically beat in the postseason. It's a cement his one hundred and sixty million dollar contract.
Like, I have no idea. I don't think anybody knows where Daniel Jones is going to go. But it appears that any place that he does decide to show up. Well, it's he's screwed. Like, I don't think there's a best case scenario for him. If he wants to play, he's going to have to be with a bad team. Do you want to do that with the Raiders?
I mean, do you want to do that? I would just bite the bullet. I'd back up on a good team, you know, feel what the energy and I think you feel what the energy is. My point is, I just don't think that there's anywhere that Daniel Jones can play the rest of this year. That's going to help him out unless. He's a backup for Mr. Richardson with the Colts, maybe. Even still, he comes out and plays, what, three games for like, what is that going to do?
Oh, it depends on what team. Right. You think there's it. Let's say he goes to Baltimore.
And it's so little time. But let's say he's a backup and Lamar gets hurt. And all it takes is one game, one important game for people to go, oh, that's what he could do. Oh, yeah, sure.
Derek Henry is there and Mark Andrews is there. Yeah. But it only takes one game.
That's all he needs. That's why I would go to a good team and not a bad one. And risk and not playing versus getting guaranteed playing time in a team like Vegas. That's fair, I guess, because you're right.
He goes to Vegas. You know, then also now you think at two teams, you can't just blame the Giants. Sometimes it's better to not know.
Right. Sit on the bench behind Lamar and never find out versus let's go to Vegas. I'll find out what he really does think, even if it is, again, the rest of the team that just. Yeah, I think he's going to get the same chance in the off season, regardless of whether he plays the rest of this year. I think by the more he plays, I think the more he can hurt his stock. I think the less he put what why you're right. But it's just hilarious that that's what we're laying out. It's best for Daniel Jones to get the best deal he can to actually not play.
Don't show anybody anymore, Phil. Yes. Just have them hope and guess that maybe he could be good instead of proving them wrong on a good team.
Yeah. Any place that he plays the rest of the year, he's going to look bad. If all he has to do is show up in mop up duty for Lamar or Anthony Richardson, I think he can he can put his best foot forward in that regard. You know, so like we already know if he goes to the Raiders, he's done. This is a dumb move. Why are you going to go play for another bad team?
What are we expecting? You could have stuck around with the Giants even though they didn't want you anymore. So I just just go to the Ravens, man. Take a contract in Baltimore. He will get a chance. He will go and compete to start for a team next year. Some team will bring him in. Hickey, who's to say the Panthers, the Panthers might bring in Daniel Jones next year, right?
Jets might bring him in. No, you don't really believe that. Oh, absolutely. I do. That'd be the most what to be a bridge QB.
You think about it, right? They're going to hire a new GM and a new coach. Woody Johnson has showed you he has no patience whatsoever. So if you're the new GM coming and you want to, you know, hit your wagon to a quarterback in this draft, or maybe there's a lot of question marks or rather get someone, at least as in that's a vet. That can show some some signs of good play. Be a bridge. Try to compete right away until you find a quarterback that you can draft and build your team around and go from there. This would be the case of the New York Jets.
What do they say? One man's trash is another man's treasure. Exactly right.
Oh, my God. New York Jets. Where else would they get a QB? They're not going to be bad enough to draft one, are they? Does? I mean, I don't think so.
I think they'll win at least a game or two more. Exactly right. And how many good ones are there in this draft?
I don't know. Do you think Daniel Jones wants to even stay in New York? Wouldn't it be a good idea for him to leave? I would agree.
I think you're 100 percent right about that. Fresh start would be best for him. I just don't know how many teams would actually bring him in.
Like. Who did you say that? Bryce Young's playing well, you know, if you really want to just say, yeah, you don't bring D.J.
in. And would he want to go? Maybe the Browns, right?
I could listen to that. Yeah. Like Deshaun Watson, who's going to expect him to be back at the start of next year? They probably want to dump the guy after he blew out his leg. And by the time we get through the summertime, he might have more allegations again. I don't know.
I don't know. A matter of fact, we got all these hurt ass quarterbacks. And first of all, we talked about the Raiders and Hickey mentioned Gardner Minshew. There's nothing worse than watching somebody break their collarbone.
Everybody looks the same on riving on the ground. Ian Rappaport on NFL Network, he was telling us about Gardner. He's done for the year. Gardner Minshew, the starting quarterback for the Las Vegas Raiders. He is also out for the season. His colleague Mike Garofalo and I reported yesterday he has suffered a broken collarbone, a significant injury, may end up needing a surgery to repair that.
Aidan O'Connell, who actually came in earlier in the year, who has been on Ira with a broken thumb. He is poised to come back, so he likely is the quarterback on Friday. But Gardner Minshew for a Raider season that has not gotten according to plan now out for the season.
Yeah, well, the Raiders are crap. Hey, Antonio Pierce, he might be gone after the season as well. The more they play, the more I'm convinced that Tom Brady is going to say, yeah, no, this is not the guy. Get him the hell up on out of here. Tom Brady's going to be like, let me bring in my own coach. We're going to do this thing the right way. And I had mentioned the Browns as a potential destination for Daniel Jones. Hey, how about this? Albert Breer is on Amazon Prime and he basically said that the Browns, they want competition for Deshaun Watson.
Listen to this. The Browns approach to filling that quarterback room will in all likelihood be different. I'm told that rather than looking to build him up with what's around him the way they have the last couple of years, one read, that's one reason why Joe Flacco isn't there anymore. They're going to look to put competition in the quarterback room, either through the draft or free agency. And why not? We know that they're they're ready to move on. Come on.
Sad and pathetic. There's going to be quite a few teams looking for QBs. Let's think about. Panthers Panthers will be looking for a quarterback. Raiders looking for a quarterback. Jets, Giants looking for QB.
And I know he said Bryce Young's been playing well, but they're going to find somebody to push him. Let's see who else looking for QB. Tennessee.
I don't care what Will Levers did yesterday. Tennessee looking for QB. Las Vegas needs a QB.
Philly, Washington down. The New York Giants need one. Oh, it's not that many teams. Minnesota has their guy on ice right now and JJ McCarthy will see what happens with Sam Darnold.
Yeah, it's not that many squads. New Orleans, you know, they ain't going to be sticking around with Carr. I don't think that's going to be the case. Seattle.
I don't know. I guess Gina will be back until they decide to bench him. Yeah, not that many teams. Daniel Jones is going to compete with somebody. And I wouldn't be surprised if we saw him start a few games next year.
Hickey, I'd put money on it. Daniel Jones will start two games minimum next year. If I said five and a half starts for Daniel Jones in twenty twenty five.
More than five games. Oh, oh, man. Oh, it's really the Browns that it's the Browns, man. It's the Browns.
Well, I love that. That's a team that's I think really good. They're the only spot. They're the only. Well, for him, they're really the only team that I could see Daniel Jones just starting for.
You know, outside of injury. Yeah. Oh, what a guy. Going from the New York Giants to the Browns. What a world. Everybody hates going out to Cleveland except for Daniel Jones.
Good for him. Anyways, the J.R. sport we show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. Eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven.
That's eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven. Monday night football is underway. We have the Baltimore Ravens. At Los Angeles in Los Angeles against the Chargers will keep you up to date as the game continues on and we'll see what happens. Derek Henry, what type of game does he have? Is he punching it in? Does the Ravens pass defense? Do they go out there and stop?
Anybody will keep you up to date. And on the other side of the break, you know, since we're talking about quarterbacks, let's talk about two QBs who are not going anywhere. Let's go to Denver and look at Bo Nix. Let's go to Washington and look at Jayden Daniels. These are two guys competing for Rookie of the Year. And I think both of the teams, both of their cities, both of the organizations, I think they're happy with what they got.
We'll get into that on the other side. It's the J.R. sport we show on the Infinity Sports Network. You're listening to the J.R. sport brief.
It is the J.R. sport we show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. The Los Angeles Chargers are not wasting any time on their first possession. They score nine plays.
Seven to nothing. The Chargers lead Baltimore. Justin Herbert is able to punch in a five yard touchdown run to give him a seven nothing lead. Lamar Jackson sitting on the sidelines already rolling his eyes, getting ready to go into the game like, damn it, we already playing in a deficit.
I'll go out there and I'll go to work. Here we have the Chargers not wasting no time. And we know this. These are two teams that they ain't got no quarterback issues.
I'll tell you about a couple of other teams that don't have any issues with their quarterback situation. How about that? Eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven is eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven. This portion of the show is brought to you by Ethos Life. The easy way to get life insurance in 10 minutes. Up to two million dollars in coverage with no medical exam and just a few health questions.
You can get your free quote at check Ethos dot com. Not available in all states. Lamar Jackson, perennial MVP candidate. Justin Herbert trying to move his his self into that category. And then we have two other teams. I think they feel pretty confident that they they both have their quarterbacks, respective quarterbacks of the future, even though they kind of I don't want to say cease on right now. I'm talking about Bo Nix and Jayden Daniels.
The Denver Broncos are on the up and up. I mean, for all the quote unquote stuff, all the issues last year that Sean Payton had with Russell Wilson, he has his quarterback in right now. He has a young guy that he's able to work with and mold. He has a guy in Bo Nix who seemingly played in college for the past 20 years. And so he has someone that he can work with just getting his first taste of the NFL is not trying to run and scramble like Russell Wilson. Vince gets the ball and throws it as simple as that. I mean, and I get it.
It's it's Vegas. The Broncos beat him yesterday, 29 to 19. Bo Nix now has 16 touchdowns on the season. That's a Broncos rookie record.
The man only has six interceptions. If there's one thing you don't want, it's your quarterback turning over the ball. And next for the Broncos, they have Cleveland on Monday night football.
And speaking of turning the ball over, that's something that Jamis Winston, well, he he pretty much he's a professional turnover machine. And so the Broncos realistically might improve their record before you even blink to eight and five. These Broncos, they just smashed Atlanta last week. They've won four out of six games. We know that they're not going to jump over a certain team in the AFC West.
They are not doing that. But the Broncos are making a case for a potential wildcard spot in the postseason. And Bo Nix, he might be wrestling away the lead for Rookie of the Year away from Jayden Daniels. Bo Nix, he's happy how the offense is performing.
He's happy how they got rid of the Raiders yesterday. We had good drives and we were sustaining some drives. I think we did one of our better games on third down, but we just would get down there.
We'd shoot ourselves in the foot, get behind the chains again. And it's hard in the NFL when you're in third and long. But, you know, they're a good defense. They have really good players over there. They play hard. They had good scheme.
And, you know, we just found a way to, you know, have a few drives that we scored touchdowns on. That was the difference in the game. And look, Sean Payton, not one for throwing roses more often than not.
He's throwing darts at the opposition. He's talking trash. I mean, this is the same Sean Payton who was just beaten up on fired offensive coordinators last year and fired head coaches. Sean Payton, actually, he threw some flowers and complemented his own team and its offense and how they battled and how they won.
Listen to this. Offensively, we struggled in the first half. We got a lot of cover zero, a lot of blitz, a lot of pressure, a lot more than we expected. And which made it hard to run the ball, obviously, with some of those looks. So the second half, though, we battled back. I think we were one of something third down in the first half. And then the second half, we just had to we had to beat the pressure.
And, you know, a year ago, we don't win that game. Oh, wow. He couldn't help himself, right? Couldn't help himself?
Always got to throw one shot in there, especially when things are going well. That means take the digs. Is that for why didn't he just say Russell Wilson's name? He's petty like that.
I don't know. Oh, my goodness. And just couldn't he couldn't help himself. And last year's quarter, we sucked.
Yeah, I just shot one of that game. I just tried to give the man credit. He's over here chopping down on a guy who's not even there anymore. I want to tell Sean Payton to do better, but I don't think he's he's capable of doing so. His team is doing better.
And how about Washington? They're not doing better. They lost to the Dallas Cowboys. Almost turn this game off. I had it on at the end.
I'm just doing chores and moving around. And I got this game on and I'm like, oh, this crap is not going to be fun. They are scoring 31 points collectively at the end of the game. Washington is missing kicks and missing onsides and losing onsides and touchdowns coming off of onsides.
And it was just a disaster for Washington. They lost to the Cowboys and Cooper Rush. They're now on a three game losing streak.
Everybody looked at the proficiency and how tough Jayden Daniels was and is. And now they they can't buy a victory. Three game losing streak. It's like some of the magic with Washington is gone, especially as the Eagles continue now to run away with the NFC East.
And by the way, ain't nobody catching them. Jayden Daniels, leader for Rookie of the Year. What was the leader for Rookie of the Year? He says on offense, man, we need to do better. We just haven't been executing how we did prior. Our execution, you know, throughout this game.
We had short fields, stuff like that. We just didn't capitalize on those opportunities. Who are you telling?
You may have to lose Rookie of the Year. What the hell is his problem? Well, what's going on with the offense?
Why can't they put up points? He says, I can't do anything but take it play by play. I think you got to find the balance.
Obviously, those guys watch film, too, so they know that we take shots. And when the opportunity presented says we're going to take them so early in the game, they did a good job of, hey, turning back and running and try to take those away and minimize those explosive plays. So it's just it's a fine balance, you know, that we're figuring out. This is this is tough. You think about Rookie of the Year, Jayden Daniels has been in the lead. And I think all things considered, he's probably going to hold on to that mantle, especially if Washington is able to get into the postseason.
But here's the thing. I think both teams are at the same spot. They they have rookie QBs.
They're thrilled with what they've gotten up until this point. Obviously, Denver seems to be on more of an ascent while Washington is hitting the skids right now. And I really don't think either one of these teams is better positioned to go to the postseason. You think about the AFC. There's going to be a combination of Pittsburgh and Baltimore. And I know Houston just took an L. They're going to be sticking around, you know, Buffalo, the Chargers. It's going to be tough for Denver to get into the postseason. And then for Washington, you think about the NFC. Yeah, Philadelphia is not relinquishing the NFC East Detroit, Minnesota, Green Bay, those combinations. Obviously, Atlanta, unless they completely hit the skids, they're going to get in representing the NFC. And then the NFC West is just they all slapped together. And so I don't think that one of these teams is going to be a better position with Washington and or Denver to get into the postseason.
I just think based on how things started for Jayden Daniels and a lot of cases, people say it's not how you start, but it's how you finish. Unless Denver gets into the postseason hickey. I don't I don't see Bo Nix winning Rookie of the Year. I think it's earmarked.
I still believe it's earmarked today for Jayden Daniels. And like I said, I think it's going to take a postseason run for any of that to change. And, you know, with the way the commanders are trending and you kind of look at the bottom of the NFC, the bottom of the NFC is a lot more competitive than the bottom of the AFC. And so this commander's offense, I mean, even yesterday, J.R., through three quarters, I know the fourth quarter is kind of a total barrage. But through three quarters, Jayden Daniels had 81 passing yards against a Cowboys defense we saw quit five days ago at home.
Yeah. And so if he just continues this slide and Bo Nix continues to just, you know, play better and get, you know, get better every single week. Even if Denver does make the plus, which I think they will.
I think it's Bo Nix is now a war to lose. You think Denver is going to get into the postseason? I do, because like you think I look who right now they hold the seven the final spot.
Who's taking it from? Colts? No. Dolphins?
No. Dolphins are on a run here. Three game winning streak, you know.
Yeah. And where are they going on Thanksgiving? They're going to the Frozen Tundra, where Tua can't win. And you had the 49ers coming to town. You know, they're going to Cleveland.
The 49ers are hurt. Come on. Well, they're still better than the Dolphins. Oh, yeah.
I agree with that one there. Yeah. Dolphins schedule gets harder. Colts and Anthony Richardson struggles completing passes. Unless they and unless they bring in Daniel Jones, right? Oh, no. Please. No. You don't want Daniel Jones to play for the Colts? No, I would. I can't. I would not be doing my job.
And. I still probably lie and watch it, but I'll be very close to just now watching that game. I would turn it like I'm not I would not even want to watch a second of Daniel Jones quarterbacking for my team. OK. All right.
Well, it might happen. So, I mean, who would you prefer, Joe Flacco or Daniel Jones? Joe Flacco. OK. All right. I mean, number first, number one, Anthony Richardson over both of them by a mile, by two miles.
Daniel Jones is like Anthony Richardson light. No. Right. No. Physically. Sure. I mean, Richardson's like a Greek god and Daniel Jones is, you know, he could run and hurt himself. Humpty Dumpty.
Every time he falls down, he heard something else. Yeah. Oh, at least, you know, the Colts are not doing anything out of the way. That is true. I'm not delusional.
No, sorry. That you don't have to worry about. Yeah. Let's let's see what happens. I, I think I think Jayden is going to hold on unless Washington just completely hits the skids. Well, we got plenty of more football to see. It's the J.R. sport show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. Speaking of football. Oh, man, we got we got Monday Night Football in action right now. We're going to take a break.
We come back. I want to talk about the running back, the star running back here on the team for Baltimore. We talked about Saquon. Derrick Henry is not no pushover himself. We see running backs. Do we got a running back resurgence in the NFL? We're going to get into that on the other side of the break. You're listening to the J.R. sport brief. It is the J.R. sport show here coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. I need you to think O'Reilly Auto Parts for all of your car care needs. Get guaranteed low prices and excellent customer service from the professional parts people at O'Reilly Auto Parts. 855-212-4227.
That's 855-212-4227. Nothing has changed from the update with Rich Ackerman. Los Angeles Chargers still lead the Ravens seven to nothing. Ravens just had the punt on another possession, not able to move the ball down the field yet in this Harbaugh ball. And we have already now had pretty much getting ready for the conclusion of the first. About two minutes left here in the first.
And I got to tell you something. Baltimore is looking to generate some offense. Derrick Henry already with three carries, 13 yards earlier in the show, we talked about what Saquon Barkley was able to do in that same building last night.
Pretty cool to see. Derrick Henry showing love to Saquon as well on social media. And we know running backs like historically over the past several years, they've been kind of chopped down. Running backs are interchangeable. You don't want to pay one.
You want to use one. Young in his career, you want to dump him. You know, a few years before he gets into his 30s, we got Derrick Henry is staring in the face of 31.
Saquon is 27. And these guys are just they're helping to bulldoze on teams like Derrick Henry. He's one of the main reasons why the Ravens offense is number one again. I think one of the threats of having Derrick Henry in the backfield has allowed Lamar Jackson to just improve as a passer. He has one less thing to worry about as offenses just can't key in on him, but also on the threat of handing the ball off to Derrick Henry. You know, you ain't going to see Lamar Jackson running around too much on play action. But having that threat back there says enough. You know, heading into tonight after that eruption, 255 yards on the ground by Saquon, Derrick Henry is second in rushing yards.
1,185 heading into tonight. 13 touchdowns. The guy is still a bulldozer. And it was always going to be special to see what he could do with Lamar Jackson. And we see what they can do. They could run the living hell out of the ball. They can have the best offense in the NFL.
And someone who is real familiar with what he's been able to do right now, been watching him this whole damn time. Is John Harbaugh, because John Harbaugh, just from just earlier this month, he talked about Derrick Henry and he says this man just elevates our offense to another level. We have been really good around the ball for a long time, but he is different. I mean, Derrick Henry is different. You know, he's adding a dimension that we have not had before. I don't know.
You go back to Jamal Lewis, maybe, you know, maybe this is this is different. Wow. I mean, that's just like, damn it. Is that almost 20 years ago? Feels like it.
No, maybe not that much. Damn. Wait a minute. No, not 20. Maybe close to 15 or so.
Long enough. Sheesh. Then we talked about Saquon. I guess all every running back is special to their head coach, Nick Sirianni. You know, Saquon is special because he's helping to save his job on the first play of the second half. He makes a cut that I didn't think anybody else could make.
Like, he just stopped on a dime. Man, when you have the type of quickness, lateral movement that Saquon has with the ability to accelerate and the speed to finish and the power to break through an arm tackle. I mean, he's got everything you look for in the back. He's been he's been awesome. And he was awesome tonight.
It's pretty cool. Hickey, could you imagine and I get it, Derek Henry is a bulldozer, but he has ridiculous speed and movement and Saquon is just he's a strong gymnast back there. He's like Mighty Mouse. Could you imagine if Derek Henry could move like Saquon? Would that be fair?
No, no. If he could cut because he has an open field speed. If he could cut that, like, I mean, that would be that would truly be like the most undefendable, unguardable player in the league. Would that be Adrian Peterson? Kind of, sort of. That's kind of what Adrian Peterson was, right? Would you say he's a combination of these two? You know what?
I think you're right. That's a great comp. That is a great comp. Man, was he good.
So fast, powerful. And he was the last dude to win MVP. This was back in 2012 with Minnesota. There are a lot of people saying that Saquon might be, you know, winning MVP.
We talked about that earlier. I still think it'll go to a QB unless Saquon just completely loses his mind out on the field. But it's good to see the running backs doing damage.
And nobody talks about this one. Nobody talks about Josh Jacobs for the Green Bay Packers. This man is third in the NFL in rushing. He is not on the Raiders anymore.
Good for him. He's now a member of the Packers. He's going to be in the postseason heading into tonight, finishing last night, third in the NFL. Nine hundred and forty four yards rushing, seven touchdowns. It pales in comparison when you think about what Saquon is doing. But he's still performing like one of the best backs in the game. This is a guy who's probably thrilled that he's no longer on the Raiders.
This is what he told Fox Sports. I mean, they believed in me. They took a chance on me. So every day I come in and I try to pour everything that I got into him. I try to invest into my teammates and I try to be a leader.
You know, each day, you know, you might you might have ups and downs, but I try to set that standard. And the Packers improved their record to eight and three after beating an injured San Francisco team yesterday, smashing them 38 to 10. Now, there's no Brock Purdy out there. Everybody have a look at Kyle Allen.
How fantastic. Now, I don't want people just getting all kind of crazy and nuts here over the success of Saquon Barkley now with the Eagles and and Derrick Henry. I'm happy that he's no longer with the Titans, what he's able to do with the Ravens now.
You know, I see this. Sam Block was on social media. He says the Giants let Saquon leave. The Titans let Henry leave.
The Raiders let Josh Jacobs leave. Those three teams are combined seven and 26. The three running backs and their new teams are 24 and nine. He says maybe just maybe elite running backs matter.
And I had to go, oh, come on now. Those teams were ass with these guys. Giants stunk with Saquon because the team stunk around him. The Titans were garbage. There's a reason why Mike Rabel is gone, because he probably told them as much.
And they were like, oh, no, we're going to get rid of you instead. The Raiders stunk. What the hell would Saquon do this year for the Giants? Be bad to like be miserable on that team. What would Derrick Henry be doing on the Titans? Putting up numbers on a garbage team, something he's been doing now for years. And the Raiders, what would Josh Jacobs be doing for the Raiders?
The answer is nothing. Like, yeah, you can be an elite running back and help take a team over the top, but an elite running back is not going to move the needle like a QB. So just please just kill off the concept of maybe those teams could have utilized the elite running back. No, you need you need a team. You need a team. And so I don't think we're going to wake up all of a sudden and now enter into a world where the running back salaries are going to increase, that all of a sudden the running backs are going to get all the bread.
No, that's that's not it. You draft one. If you can use them, keep them. If he gets old, dump them. If you suck, let them go.
That's just what it is. Derrick Henry is here to help the Ravens who were already good. The Eagles were already good on the last time I checked last year when Josh Jacobs was rotting away on those Raiders. Well, they were already good as well. Let's cut the crap.
Running backs are not just putting teams on their back and running them to championships. This is this is not 40 years ago, 50 years ago. It's a new era.
