Are The 49ers No Longer Super Bowl Contenders? (Hour 4)

I'm an Atlanta super producer and host Ryan Hickey is holding it down for us in New York City. It's Monday, we got Monday Night Football. I mean the Cowboys are trying to win a football game. They're taking on the Texans right now.

How about this? They actually scored a touchdown right now. Kyle Turpin just scored a touchdown for the Dallas Cowboys. Okay, Cooper Rush exciting the people. We have Mixon who has two rushing touchdowns and so what was a 14 to nothing lead by the Houston Texans is now 14 to 6.

Maybe 14 to 7 acts of the extra point. We'll keep you up to date with Monday Night Football as the evening continues on and boy oh boy have we talked about a lot so far this show. We talked about the Baltimore Ravens never able to beat the Steelers.

We talked about some college football winners like Colorado and Georgia. We saw the Chargers win big over the Bengals. We saw the Bills win big over the Chiefs. We talked about some teams and well damn it really the coaches who are they're really going to be losers.

Look at Doug Peterson with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Take a look at Matt Eberfluse with the Chicago Bears things are probably not going to work out for him and we've had some other great performances from yesterday that we're probably going to have to talk about tomorrow. Like Bo Nix is looking good.

Looking good like people are literally having conversations right now as to whether or not he's going to end up with a better rookie dear better rookie year excuse me than Jayden Daniels. Like this is where we're at right now. So we'll talk about him Bo Nix tomorrow and speaking of people bouncing back and of course as we continue on with this hour of the show we'll talk about some things that took place this day in sports history.

We'll do that at the end of the show. I did mention to you in the last break I did mention to you in the last break how the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Celtics man they got a matchup coming. Cavaliers are undefeated. Yeah they have had the best start that we've ever seen the team have since the Golden State Warriors.

So we'll get into the Cavs getting ready to take on the Celtics. But Hickey speaking of quarterbacks and looking good the Colts Anthony Richardson this man had the best game I think you could have ever seen from this dude yesterday. That he did JR that he did he looked good he looked confident decisive made some you know good throws deep missed a few easy ones it's still Anthony Richardson here a long way to go but that was easily in a short sample size best game of his career yeah let's go let's go. He had that game-winning touchdown with about 46 seconds left and then Quitty Pay decided to go out there and basically destroy Aaron Rodgers to finish out the game and Anthony Richardson completed two-thirds oh we have to watch a Dallas Cowboy probably break his arm great oh man awful stuff anyway Houston leading 14 to 7. Bottom line is Anthony Richardson looked good game-winning touchdown to win the game and the Jets looked bad the Jets lose 28 to 7.

They got a record of three and eight the Colts are five and six. Hickey to be clear you you still you don't have no expectations for this team right? No the only expectations and hopes I have are centered around the development of Anthony Richardson that's all. I agree with you there before we make fun of the Jets let's take a listen to the positivity Anthony Richardson this man was benched for two games he plays helps the team win on the road he comes back he was asked whether or not he proved anything to his teammates after the victory listen to this I don't know if it's any reward to me but um you know I just I just hope my teammates see that I'm willing to do anything for them you know I'm willing to put my body on the line and go sacrifice anything out there on the field for them you know but I definitely just appreciate them just for trusting me and just believing in me throughout the whole process you know regardless of what was going on yeah that after he uh he took a break let's remember that he he got benched because a he took a break he took a break b he was only completing 44 of his passes and then c it came across that he was kind of lazy when it came down to preparation throughout the week either way the head coach of the Indianapolis Colts Shane Steichen said that Anthony Richardson he reminded everybody how good he is and how good he can be composure is that phenomenal you know 20 of 30 throwing the football for 275 two touchdowns um and a touchdown pass um he was on it today it was awesome all right the Indianapolis Colts they break their three-game losing streak yesterday against the New York Jets unfortunately for them Hickey you want to tell everybody their next opponent uh a team that just put 52 up on a sorry ass team yesterday in the division yeah they they got Detroit next uh not good yeah three-game winning streak uh three-game losing streak snapped they're about to lose next week against uh Detroit hopefully Anthony Richardson is not not embarrassed let's just put it that way this guy is embarrassed Hickey I hope he's so embarrassed that he quits it's it's Aaron Rodgers this is why I told you I was hoping that the Jets just sucked because if they were going to lose you got to lose in the worst possible fashion like they're they're legitimate questions right now as to whether or not Aaron Rodgers even wants to finish the season whether or not the Jets should continue throwing him out there and Aaron Rodgers after the loss yesterday he was asked how he plans to stay motivated on a team that's going nowhere isn't going to the postseason and it's just garbage I'm in my 20th year so I've figured out a way to do this for a long time so I just gotta remember why you fell in love with this game this will be definitely a week to clear all of our heads and come back and uh stick together yeah I guess if there's any positivity here it's that the the New York Jets they got a buy coming up and you can't lose on a buy week I mean that's that's the great thing for the New York Jets and they have Seattle coming up next and Seattle man they handled business against the 49ers uh we'll get to that in a second uh after the game pretty hilarious as well as the New York Jets were trying to win the game they were up 23 to 16 at the time the New York Jets being a little too conservative for Aaron Rodgers he thought that they were going to go for a two-point conversion and so Aaron Rodgers never won to uh shy away from let's just say expressing himself throwing receivers under the bus this time he wanted to take aim at the coaches I like going for two in that situation when you're seven can go up nine the reason I was thinking is we'd had a conversation on the sideline about it and I was under the impression that the decision was before the drive we're gonna go for two now something changed in the meantime so the hardest part and we know it we've had to lay a game on a two-point is to get everybody back oh boy oh hickey it's about that time I think he's gonna start making news on these uh Pat McAfee appearances I think it's coming you think so oh I guess now is the time right I mean the season's over just let it loose I think so he's he's I don't know is it time to be scorched earth I think he's made his decision as to what he wants to do in the future uh and I think let's let's also remember if he sticks around they gotta get a new coach in and he doesn't even look like the quarterback that they thought that they were gonna get so I mean if the Jets really want to be a disaster hickey you know what they do they tell him hey man have a seat sit down wow bench him uh not not necessarily him but pull the plug right if you're gonna pull the plug and you want to restart just from scratch just why do you want to do this again next year you you think the results are going to be any different do the New York Jets look like that they are a a playoff team let alone a Super Bowl contender what could they possibly do next year that's going to be different am I missing something here not at all I agree and if you're trying to get the best assuming Joe Douglas their head coach goes as well are their their GM sorry if you're trying to get the best head coach best GM you possibly can I would say Aaron Rodgers is more of a detriment right than uh than a boon to that I don't know many GMs that are worth their salt that want to come in and listen this guy called the show for a year you know I bet you moving off of Rogers would help get you the best head coaching candidate and GM you possibly could get out there yeah it is uh it's they're screwed they're done that's just what they are like the gasoline has already been lit place is already in flames just go ahead and give us the huge explosion if you're the Jets call it a wrap I know we're not the author we're gonna see another touchdown and Texas still leave 14 to 7 here 11 minutes left here in the the first half of the game now the Jets I told you that they're going to be on a bye we get to have all Aaron Rodgers he's going to say something tomorrow that can linger for about a week and change because they don't play again until Seattle on December 1st and so if you're Rogers you say something crazy so it can sit in the news cycle for about two weeks I I assume this is how he thinks things out I'd be surprised if he didn't give us something to talk about tomorrow what direction do you think he's gonna go in coaching player stop this BS no one knows how to win but me like I'm just trying to figure out the direction he goes to take what is an indirect but a direct shot I think he continues on the coaching hmm I think that's what he does like what else is there for him to do I'll tell you this much I enjoy every game that he looks miserable I do but this is what you deserve for being such a jerk like you this is what he deserves and I think he was I think he was the Jets best option probably last year not this year after the injury not this year after all the other nonsense and now they're the jokes about how Zach Wilson is performing better and Sam Donald is performing better and this is the most Jets thing possible just to see everybody out there suffering good luck against Seattle because for a team that was like in its own just a terrible space losing five out of six heading into the game against the 49ers yesterday they beat the 49ers and the 49ers are just losing to every team possible in their own division they're trying to make this as competitive as possible I thought Arizona would eventually falter they just coming off of a bye week but the 49ers have lost three division games they've blown fourth quarter leads and all of them maybe the fact that they have Christian McCaffrey back now would certainly change things that wasn't the case yesterday Bosa was dealing with a hip issue yesterday you have Kittle who wasn't playing because of a hammy and a 49 is a five and five but Seattle is five and five and everybody is basically tied right behind me the Arizona Cardinals so what the hell is going on with the 49ers I have no clue they got Green Bay next Sunday and we saw Green Bay can certainly win a game all the way at the end on the last second and the head coach of the 49ers Kyle Shanahan he says man we blew it at the end we let Gino beat us when you have opportunities to do it and hurt yourself with penalties and a few missed opportunities you got to finish it there at the end and I was disappointed because I thought the offense had every chance to do that yeah they did but remember they had no kill they have no iuke they're running a rookie and pierce all it's not as easy but they have enough weapons that they should still go out there and do some damage and Brock Purdy the man was looking for a gigantic payday at the end of the year Brock Purdy says man we need to do better and I feel like you know we had just some mishaps with some penalties and we had opportunities where we're moving the ball and we just kept hurting ourselves um and so uh operationally I feel like we just got to be we got to be better and um can't hurt ourselves and once we have momentum we got to keep moving the ball and we just kept hurting once we have momentum we got to keep running with it we got to finish drives oh boy Hickey am I wrong to still believe in the 49ers I do they're not looking good right now but I still believe in them it's just the division like Arizona's gonna win the division I agree I'm not I'm nervous about the 49ers in part because I'm with you in terms of the division Arizona's been great but I do think at the end of the day the 49ers win it but now you look at five and five you basically guaranteed yourself in the playoffs you're going to Philly and you're going to Detroit and that is by far the hardest path that Kyle Shanahan has had to go on in this postseason get to the Super Bowl like you know the two times they went to the Super Bowl they've had home field advantage both times you know that road to the Super Bowl is difficult as hell and you you did yourself no favors by now losing these games losing games at home to Seattle and Arizona which you should win and now I think you'll pay for it in January when you have those you know those road trips and then if you don't win the division I mean what you're on the road first round against Minnesota maybe like I don't know Atlanta like Atlanta oh my god well by default right I guess by default but hey still it's it's Atlanta has talent you know I know they just yeah flip a coin on what they do you know but hey if the coin lands on heads and that's the day they're playing the 49ers your season could end if you're San Francisco before it even starts if the 49ers came here to play the Falcons I'm picking the 49ers okay I would agree but yeah we'll see I'll tell you this much I think the the biggest detriment right now to the 49ers is that they've lost to everybody in the division which is is well I think we all know it's it's not good and I think the injuries certainly haven't helped them and by the time they get on a roll it might be might be too late we'll see 49ers certainly not looking all that good right now if you want to take a look at the lines of the 49ers I think reasonably so people look at the lines to go out there and blast them let's see if we should be so lucky to Texans we're also going to see one of the biggest entertainers on earth entertaining America on Christmas I'll tell you who it is on the other side of the break we'll talk about a huge basketball game night football there's just a lot going on and I know some of it can be lost we just had the the rookie of the year and now it's for the American League and the National League Paul Skeans wins for the National League by the way he did not look happy Hickey is this guy miserable all year long is there anything that makes this guy happy he's always angry looking I don't think so oh boy I know not a great life to live what would him yeah being miserable all the time well I don't know maybe it's all an act they announced that Cal Ripken jr sold to main man your rookie of the year he just sat there like all right whatever it's a I don't know it has to be an act either way uh Luis Hill of the Yankees he won rookie of the year nobody cares I think all Yankee fans would prefer the championship Luis Hill certainly uh wasn't all that great at the end of the season had some bumps in the middle and there we have it but also by the way tomorrow we have a big deal in the NBA and I know it's early enough in the season where people are like what's going on in the NBA maybe you haven't noticed but the Cleveland Cavaliers have started the season 15 and up we haven't seen a team this hot to start a season since the Golden State Warriors and I'm talking about the Golden State Warriors team that ultimately won a championship and had some guy named Kevin Durant went out there went out there had a guy named Steph Curry had another guy named Draymond Green like the Cavaliers 15 straight games I'm not going to tell you that they're going to go out here and uh you know win a championship I do not believe they will but they're in uh you you can't do any better the Golden State Warriors started that season 24 and oh and so tomorrow you want to see a test the Cavaliers take on the Boston Celtics the team that just won a championship and if you're the Boston Celtics you look at them and say oh let's just beat them and if you're the Cavaliers you want to make this a statement the Cavaliers have a new head coach in Kenny Atkinson and he says of course I'm excited to face Boston it's great for the NBA right I think everybody's going to be watching and and I know our guys are anxious I know they uh you know remember last year and and we're we're going well they're going well um you know Boston Garden I mean what's what's better than that I mean this is just great for the league uh great for our franchise um works that we're excited about it.

Hickey maybe I'm a jerk probably. Does anybody care about the Cavs? It's early I'm I'm happy with what they've done but uh is anybody looking at them to win the championship no right no no you're right this is a hot start um for them but I don't think anybody actually believes this will continue throughout the rest of the regular season and carry over into the playoffs to where they are the team to beat uh no yeah they'll they'll go on like a six-game losing streak and people will go okay whatever and they'll get into the postseason it's just it's early like they're hot early and you know even if they beat the Boston Celtics tomorrow like like big deal by the time the postseason comes around maybe just maybe Kristaps Porzingis will be healthy enough to go out there and contribute uh I don't know I'm not buying into this is why it's early in the season they say the NBA regular season doesn't really start until you get to Christmas. Let's see what the Cavaliers are doing by then I'm sure the Cavs will still be lighting people up and have a winning record maybe they don't have more than five losses but what they freaking do I still think when you look at them their stars are too small I'm looking at you Donovan Mitchell and unless Evan Mobley this is what I believe unless Evan Mobley really turns into one of the best absolute players in the league then I'm not looking at them and winning anything and congratulations the Dallas Cowboys keeping this as a competitive as a competitive game just kicked the field goal and Texans now lead 17 to 10 five and a half minutes a little less than six minutes I should say left here uh in the first half congratulations to the Cowboys and oh yeah by the way and I know people don't get all that hyped up about uh soccer or football but if you're a U.S. men's national team uh follower team USA is beating up on Jamaica four to one that's uh that's nice to see team USA soccer actually uh winning something uh Hickey you you excited for the the club world cup next year forget that you excited for the world cup forget that you excited for both of them coming up I did not even know the club world cup existed until a month ago maybe oh when I told you yeah I was trying to remember who it was I don't even know how it's a real thing uh but to answer your question no I'm not excited for it oh damn we'll not watch it well you you're a soccer fan at all I'll watch the world cup every four years I root for team USA I watch the three games well usually four right they play three then usually make it take the first round playoffs and get bounced so I'll watch the four games they play oh I will be into it for sure and then that's about it well you got it you got to start off well I guess you got to find a club to identify with I mean it's it's America well it's it's teams based in America versus teams in Brazil versus all over the world it's there's 32 teams that are participating so I guess root root from Miami root for Messi Hickey right sure I guess I mean what does that really does anyone does any like do soccer fans do they care oh is this a big this is a big deal club world cup the fact that well this is the first one where it's taken place here in North America in the Americas pretty much to start for the first time ever this is almost like a great appetizer before we get to the world cup in two years from now which at this point is going to be less than two years so yeah soccer fans all over the world they they care I know you have a lot of soccer players who are just saying to themselves man we we out here playing a lot but the way they spaced out the calendar actually helps everybody and then they have the the draw you'll actually know who's grouped together and who they're going to play that'll be not too long after Thanksgiving on December 5th Hickey we got to get you to a match and then you'll you'll get into it for the club world cup no thanks but in general I'm not well I I sort of am anti-soccer it's just I it's what it's just not my thing I'm sorry hey it's not my thing I gotta get you out we gotta go you okay we'll go to a club world cup match that'll be next year but before then if we can I gotta get you to Germany we gotta get you to Stanford bridge we we gotta get you to you gotta see what's the wildest sporting event you ever been to would you say probably college yes college football in terms of atmosphere for sure Hickey I've been to games where there are flares in the stadiums the fans don't sit down the action is non-stop you you sit down at some of the sporting events here in the states and you feel like you're in church in comparison to what you get in Europe I'm excited for I I love a good atmosphere what does concern me a little bit is I don't want to be next to somebody with a flare I don't exactly trust the hooligans to you know to fire off the flare correctly and not have it fly at me oh that's the only thing that I'll say you know what maybe I'll tone it down just a little bit I like everything else you said yeah you you'll be on the other side of the uh the stadium okay I I got you as long as that's the case then I am in European soccer I would be very interested in checking out okay no taking all right okay well let's see what the draw looks like and maybe we see one of the teams ahead of time deal okay yes possibly okay possibly all right get the passport ready Hickey we're gonna we'll take the jr sport brief over to Europe okay oh oh it's ready um you tell me when I'll be there yeah we're gonna we're gonna get you all warmed up in prime for the club world cup we got we got to do that for the the whole country it's going to be a big deal the draw as I buy you a replica okay that sounds cool I will say this is given like NBA cup vibes but other than that it sounds kind of cool oh no NBA wishes they were like this okay and they wish it's the jr sport with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network today is november 18th the year is 2024 and if we go back in time I don't know to let's just say the year 2000 Antoine Randall L this man he became only the second player ever college football d1 to go ahead and amassed 200 points rushing and passing for indiana unfortunately it was on the end of a losing side because produce smacked them up led by some guy named drew breeze a 41 to 13. take a listen to this courtesy of abc verse he got us was all alone near the end line and the Hoosiers are on the board yeah hickey disappointing NFL Korea Antoine Randall L disappointing right um I don't know if it was okay I thought it was solid no I mean super bowl throws that nice touchdown pass but from quarterback to receiver I would say solid now you'd say disappointing solid solid yes I think given like it doesn't always work out and I don't want to say this is a warning for somebody like Travis Hunter but quote-unquote the guys who do more than one thing how often does it ever really work for them you know you got to really be great at one thing in most cases it just doesn't work out I mean Dion might be the prime example to be a a returner and then also a defender but everybody else it's it seems hit or miss Julian Edelman had a nice career going from Kent State quarterback to receiver y'all see him do receiver y'all see him do both but he wasn't throwing the ball in the pro yeah no you are right like they're like at some point you have to specialize right whether it's offense or defense I think Travis Hunter will do that for the most part you'll see him predominantly on one side of the ball my guess would be defense but you are not I mean you're not wrong in the sense of what he's doing in Colorado it's almost it's impossible to do in the NFL impossible oh no yeah I don't give a damn what his stamina is right I don't care not in the Flintstone vitamins in the world to to make this guy get through that man playing on both sides not happening and he's gonna have he's gonna have to get bigger too he ain't gonna get bigger in like one off season that's I think that's something to pay attention to as well this day in sports history November 18th the year is 2006 we had Ohio State number one Michigan number two they played their asses off one of the best college football games that you will ever see Ohio State beat Michigan 42 to 39 take a listen to this courtesy of ABC these are highlights he's gonna fire for it end zone got it touchdown goes back to Robiski Brian Robiski as Jim Tressel fires away away from the pressure still has to throw and does complete touchdown Michigan bounce right back and a hit Tyler Ecker and now Michigan closes back into within five going to kick it to the kicker's left here it is on side kick battle for the scrum and Ted Gann right there wraps it up for the Buckeyes snaps it on two Ohio State will play for a national championship the Buckeyes beat their arch rival again if anybody wanted to find the bright side specifically if you are a fan of Michigan well the Gators beat them in the national championship there is your uh your silver lining hey this is oh this isn't good news at all November 18 2014 a future hall of famer Adrian Peterson he was suspended for the rest of the regular season for violating the NFL's uh personal conduct policy uh you need a reminder what happened here listen from CBS news commissioner Roger Goodell sent a letter to Adrian Peterson laying out his case for suspending him until next April part of the letter was quoted in a press release it said the injury was inflicted on a child who was only four years old that the repetitive use of a switch in this instance is equivalent of a weapon and that Peterson had shown no meaningful remorse for your conduct you can discipline your children let's keep in mind in society and there's a line across and uh a four-year-old with a switch oh my goodness oh damn now what hickey what what do i even say to that i don't know what do you say to that there's really not much to say the actions spoke very loud the NFL took action and he paid the price for it damn man where do you get a sw well let's say where do you get a switch he's in the south damn all right hickey there's nothing else to say there we what else do you say just that don't beat on kids okay just don't do it just don't don't do it wait let them make that decision when they work on wall street and they're like 30 years old okay if they want to get beat with a switch or get paid to get beat that's different but uh yeah hickey those are a few things that took place this day in sports history how about that how about that yeah how about that uh anyway and now he's well yeah he's done done now he's going into the hall of fame he's had an amazing career a terminator as well towards ACL came back even better uh but anyway this isn't history we got to get there first and this is november 18th i feel like we just went past halloween there's a sleigh outside i guess the timing is now appropriate the hickey there's literally outside the window i'm looking at a giant christmas tree just blinking right in my face um it's that time of year it's unavoidable and every day that goes by we get closer to christmas we are now what a month away a month and a week um yeah just six weeks is that not six weeks five weeks is that where we at five weeks is that where we at five weeks the countdown is on and people got to do their shopping and all this other stuff and the nfl has a gift for everyone for christmas okay and no it's not just watching the ravens it's not just watching the ravens and the texans it's not just getting NFL on christmas when we get the ravens and the texans there's going to be a special performance by beyonce and take a listen to the this announcement it's a lot of chatter in here but let me make myself clear can you hear me can we stand can we stand hickey i'm excited as much for that as you are for the club world cup well the good news is uh well i don't know if it's good news or not but you probably won't be able to see it because it's on netflix and it'll probably be buffering during the game so if you're not looking forward to it you won't miss it you don't think that netflix is gonna have uh its situation resolved by then they better uh they for sure better what do they have but like you said five weeks it's a lot of time i mean i don't know if servers i don't know how the hell that works but they have five weeks to figure it out it's one thing to mess up a jake paul mike tyson fight uh it's another thing to mess up an nfl game and a beyonce concert the beehive will not stand for that i think i think it'll be fine man we got so yeah this is the first time the nfl is on netflix we got the kansas city chiefs taking on the steelers and then we have the ravens taking on the texas and houston beyonce is from houston texas and so they'll have beyonce perform and they'll get it right and if they said what 50 60 million people tuned into uh you know this jake paul mike tyson fight i don't know do because people will be congregating how wouldn't that mean that there are less people that will be watching on christmas i don't know and then there's not that basketball is gonna suck away football i don't think so football always whoops that ass there's no issue with the streaming it'll be fine perfectly fine for beyonce beyonce probably has it y'all gotta pay me more for buffers right buffering fee a buffering fee if people can't watch beyonce in hd in high definition clearly and netflix is gonna have to uh you're gonna have to pay me more if people complain is that beyonce fee that's smart now that will probably ensure like you said that those buffering issues do not happen but i think you're also right probably the number will not be as high in part you'll have you know family together maybe 10 people instead of you know in one house instead of 10 people spread across four houses but yeah yeah a lot of people will be watching either way yeah i i'll watch just to watch because i'm already what else is there to do at that point you know either look at the screen or look at your family you know i'm taking my pick i'm just being honest here right you take your pick i'll be watching the football um and so i just by happenstance i'll see beyonce whatever i like beyonce i'm not no huge beyonce fan i would never buy a ticket to see beyonce it's just not she don't make no music for she makes music for women hickey she don't make music for me beyonce made a record that you really love that you play all day i will say i do like her latest song i think it's latest uh the texas holds them not to get them okay they played it in hard knocks it's catchy you just played that all day i would not say all day um once in a while it will come on for sure i've yet to save it on my spotify list yet maybe we'll get there but it's a good song okay all right it's probably very disrespectful to say some of my favorite beyonce songs were just from destiny's child that's so yeah it's pretty yeah pre pre beyonce solo hmm i like i like rihanna some of her music better than beyonce's anyway i love work but yeah now that's rihanna yeah i know yeah rihanna not beyonce i like rihanna rihanna she's got some bangers yes she does i was saying great music i say beyonce catch up but i don't need the beef okay oh boy i don't need thread me out there for the beehive yeah i don't need i don't need the problems in life i like rihanna's records better what can i say anyway i like jay-z i love jay-z before he had anything to do with beyonce uh but anyway the jr sport re-show here on the
