It is the JR Sport Brief Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. I'm coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia. Thank you to everybody locked in and listening all over North America. Happy Thursday to you. That's right, we are getting oh so much closer to the weekend.
Good. I'll be hanging out with you for the next two hours. The show gets started every weekday, 6 p.m. Eastern, 3 Pacific. I'm being joined by super producer and host, Ryan Hickey. He's in New York City. You might be wherever the hell you are.
We don't know, but thank you for listening. How can you listen to the show? Always, every weekday on the free Odyssey app, A-U-D-A-C-Y. You can tune in on your local Infinity Sports Network affiliate.
If you got Sirius XM, it's channel 158. And if you have a smart speaker, ask it to play the Infinity Sports Network. Is the speaker in your phone? Is it in your house? I don't know. Just talk to the robot before the robot talks to you.
Stupid Alexa's are too, man, they're too chatty nowadays. Anyway, I'll get to that in a minute. No, I gotta get it out. I have to get it out of my system. Anyway, hey, it's Thursday night football. We got the commanders and the Eagles.
They're getting ready to go at it. Commanders are seven and three after losing to the Steelers. You could thank Mike Williams, touchdown catch from Russell Wilson. Now, Philadelphia, they just beat up on the Cowboys, 34 to six, smashed them. We'll talk about that game in a second.
Also, thank you so much earlier on in the show. A conversation with Brian Howell from the Boulder Daily Camera. He came through to talk about Dion potentially moving on to the NFL and leaving Colorado.
He doesn't think that will be the case. We talked about Dan Lanning, head coach of Oregon, the Ducks. We've been reports kind of bouncing around that he might eventually move on to the NFL or that NFL teams might entertain bringing him on.
Hickey brought up an excellent point. Why the hell would you leave the Ducks where the world is at his fingertips to go to the NFL, which is, I mean, if you're going to join a team, you're going to a crap team. The team is probably crap because they have a crap owner. Why leave?
Why bother? We talked about John Gruden now joining Barstool Sports. Harrison Butger going to be missing some time here for the Kansas City Chiefs, and he's going to be missing a big matchup against the Buffalo Bills this upcoming Sunday.
He might be out for the next month. And we have so much more to do. I want to keep talking about some college football. We got one recruit who might be getting almost $11 million to show up and play football at Michigan. Maybe Michigan. Michigan hopes he shows up there. And then we got a guy who is not a recruit. This man is almost 40 years old.
LeBron James is still playing out of his damn mind. If you want to be a part of the show, it's simple. 855-212-4227. That's 855-212-4227. You can also find me online. I am everywhere at JR Sport Brief.
As the commanders and Eagles get ready to have this matchup. Let me let me get this out of my system. Hickey, I said you can you can listen to the show. You can ask Alexa or Siri or whatever the hell it is.
And you just ask it to play the Infinity Sports Network. Hickey, you want to know something? I thought I figured out, but I haven't yet. You ready for this? Yeah. So I got Alexa. I got I got all the stupid stuff in my house.
I hate more recently, like the last year or so, maybe it's two years now. I hate talking to Alexa, asking her to do things. Hickey, if I ask Alexa, hey, what's the weather outside while I get ready or get ready to step out the door? I get the weather Hickey. And after the stupid thing gives me the weather. Hey, JR, it's you know, it's 80 degrees outside with a, you know, 50 percent chance of rain, by the way.
And I'm like, you know what? I don't need no by the way. Just shut up. Give me the weather. I don't need you to now tell me about how, by the way, if you want to buy an umbrella like shut up. I didn't ask you all of that.
Just give me the weather and be quiet. And so I thought I turned off suggestions and I did. And it's the stupid thing is still trying to converse and give me suggestions. Just be quiet.
I don't know why I'm shocked to hear that they're upselling you, but holy cow, I am shocked. Oh, right. Right. Come on. Yeah.
If you need an umbrella, here's a rain jacket. Just say yes. And all of a sudden we'll order it for you. No, no. Oh, you said yes. No, no, no. Yes. Okay. The order's on the way. No.
I can see that happening very soon as well. Just doing too much. DTM. Yeah. Correct. Correct. Just correct. And I'm not doing too much. I'm just at me.
They're doing too. I'm just asking the score. What's the weather? What's the score? Hey, what's the Spurs score? You know, San Antonio Spurs are beating the Lakers 118 to 110. Victor, when Benyama has 50 points, by the way, if you want to visit Paris, like, no, no, I don't.
I just want to know what when Benyama is doing right now. Is that enough? It's stupid machines, man. I'm sick of a lot. You know what they tell you, right? What if you want something done, right? Do it yourself. Look up your own weather.
Look up the scores yourself. Alexa just make it to the point where it's not even worth asking her anymore because she's too chatty, man. Technology is supposed to make our lives easier.
And instead she's driving you now to do more work. Hey, you know, it's dangerous. Remember the Tesla robots that they have? You saw the video, right? The driverless?
No, bro. The robots? I do not know about the Tesla robots here. Wait until I send you this. You know iRobot, right? You know iRobot. I am familiar with the plot. With Will Smith movie? Yes. Okay. That exists. That robot exists.
It's the brain child of Elon Musk. Yeah, it exists. Yeah. Great. How long before we're doomed? I don't know. 2050? 50? Well, yeah.
We got another 25 years? Yeah. Yeah, I guess. I guess.
All right. Because my point is Alexa in my house doesn't have arms, okay? Alexa doesn't have arms, doesn't have legs.
If I unplug Alexa out the wall, it's a brick. It's nothing, okay? It ain't doing nothing. It's one thing for me. And I do it. I'm guilty. I'm guilty. Shut up. I didn't ask you all of that, okay? I respond to the machine when it talks too much. Not that it responds back.
Hickey, not that I want or will have one in my house. But if I'm just, you know, walking out the door and I ask, I don't know what the robot's name is. Hey, Billy, what's the temperature outside? Billy is, you know, he's organizing the shed.
He's changing the sheets for me. And I go, Billy, what's the weather outside? And Billy goes, hey, it's 50 degrees, you know, and then it's cloudy. You may want to take an umbrella. And then he goes, by the way, do you want me? And I go, shut up, Billy. Hickey, Billy is going to grab me by the throat and put me up against the wall. Now that's dangerous. I am looking at the Tesla robot right now. We are screwed.
Yeah, we're cooked. How big is that? How big is that? He's life size.
What do you think he is? Like six feet? That's what he looks like. And he's big. Like you said, if he grabs you, you're only getting out of there when he decides to let go. Holy cow. Yeah, they over here talking to the thing like he's friendly.
I'm like, he's going to grab you by the throat. We've seen this. People have been telling us this movie and this story for like 200 years now. Us humans are going to create robots. And one day the robots are going to be, why are we listening to these idiots for? Oh, they, we're going to, we're going to make sure that they're okay. We're going to enslave them and make sure they're okay. You want to go outside?
No, you can't. I'll get your groceries for you. You need a job? No, you don't need a job.
Sit right in a house. You work for me now. Yeah. It's scary stuff. It's all in your hand.
Hickey. It's all wait until your iPhone. Wait, it is.
It's going to have arms and legs like that robot you're looking at right now. It's supposed to do household chores and play with your kids. Yeah. Babysit. Yeah.
No, thank you. You know what? This is a good test. If any parent out there says, you know what, we're going out tonight. Who's watching your kids? The robot right to jail. Yeah.
Hickey, we're laughing about it. One day. I know this sounds crazy and I think you would agree with me.
If we can get there as humans, it's going to be normal one day. Yes. You don't think?
No, I do. But I hope when you say normal, it is controlled in a way where you forget all that. I hope that that I'm trying to put myself in the ground. I hope I am not allowed to see it. OK, let's put it that way.
Same. I don't I don't want to I don't want to be a great great grandparent is sitting around watching my kids or my kids, kids, kids. You know, hey, where's where's where's my great grandson? Oh, just sitting at home with Rosie. Who's Rosie? The robot, the maid. OK, no.
And what do you do? You're elderly. You can't fight nothing.
You're elderly at that point. I don't I don't want to I don't need that in life. I'm good with humans and I barely want to deal with humans. Yeah, I agree. There's a lot of people that give you a lot of problems.
I'd rather deal with them than. Rob, Rob, wait, wait until you're elderly and a robot's checking on you, Hickey. Wait, there won't be much checking in. It's all right.
Here's the pillow over the face. You had enough. You've been here long enough, buddy. Are you saying that's what you're going to ask from the robot or that's what the robot's going to do?
There's no asking. There's telling no more applesauce for you. Your days are done. The robot is going to come and smother you with a new sheriff in town, new patriarch here. Yeah, it's just going to be that one master mainframe robot that commands all the other robots all over the earth to just enslave us. And then it's like Terminator.
It's over. And you can't put a robot in jail. If he kills somebody, what are you going to do?
Take his battery out? Probably just kill you first. They're going to have what? They're going to have robot court? Nope. Oh, yeah.
We've seen this story. Well, I'm sorry to inform you of our impending doom. Yeah, it's having a good Thursday too until I told you about the Tesla robot. Yeah.
Until I realized time is ticking faster than I thought. And they feel good the next time you get into a Tesla car. Okay.
Oh, I don't. Well, I don't have one, but I guess you can get an Uber. You know, the Tesla Ubers are nice, right?
They're very nice. You know, the first time you open up the door, you feel like an idiot. Oh, I still feel like an idiot.
It's like, I got to push the thumb in and pop the thing out and get in. And where's the ceiling for this thing? Is this all a battery? I don't know. It's just very interesting. Yeah, it is. It is. Anyway, shout out. You can listen to the show on Alexa.
Yes. Ask it to play the Infinity Sports Network. At least when it turns the station on is you hear us and no more talking from Alexa.
And that's a good thing. Anyway, 8-5-5 2-1-2 42-27. It's 8-5-5 2-1-2 42-27. Hey, we're minutes away from kickoff here. And it's real damn simple.
This ain't that complicated. I'm not going to say the commanders have peaked. They got a rookie QB.
He's been playing out of his damn mind. I think things are going to catch up to them. I look at this Washington commanders team and I say this is a team that will compete for a playoff spot before a squad that started off 7-2.
They came down to reality. They played a veteran Pittsburgh Steelers squad. They have Philadelphia up next.
God bless Washington. They should get into the postseason and compete because some of the teams that they have to play against are ass. They have Dallas twice. They have Tennessee. They have New Orleans. They have the Falcons who play up and down. Washington should get into the postseason.
Now Philadelphia, on the other hand, much more experienced team with a, I don't think the best coach in the world. They have Washington tonight. They have the Rams, Baltimore, Carolina, Pittsburgh, Washington, Dallas, and New York. So their schedule isn't all that difficult. I think the Eagles are going to end up winning the NFC East.
And I believe that Washington, given the powder pustle on their schedule, I think that they're going to get in as a wildcard. Now, one thing to pay attention to for the game tonight, whether you're going to watch or whether you're going to listen, there is no Marshawn Lattimore. He is not yet ready to go out there and suit up and play for the team that just traded for him.
He's a former Saint. Now he's a commander. And the commanders, their run defense sucks. Let me remind you, the Eagles, they have Saquon Barkley, and one of the best running backs in the game. And now we see what he can do with a live operating offense instead of being the entire offense for the New York Giants. It should be a fun one, always fun games, NFC East matchups, but I'm going to go ahead and take the Eagles to improve their record to eight and two as the commanders fall to seven and four. I told you Jaden Daniels, this is his first time.
He's still a rookie. He talks about all the vets on Washington and how he's trying to go from that loss against the Steelers to just being prepared on short rest tonight. Then you take little tidbits from the vets and how they could recover throughout the week.
Even more importantly, how can I recover throughout the shorter weeks and stuff like that? So let's take tidbits. But for the most part, it's been pretty, pretty consistent. Youth is his friend and so is ice. Okay, ice, lots of ice. Jalen Hurts, young veteran, I guess at this point, getting ready to take on these commanders.
He goes, this is not going to be easy. They got great players playing hard where they are able to create problems up front. Their linebackers are really good players, smart players, instinctual players, fast players.
And then out wide, they're very sticky in coverage. Dan Quinn could be coach of the year for this young Washington commanders team with his young quarterback. He has an idea how they're going to win. I mean, this man was a defensive coordinator for years. Seattle made his bones, legion of boom, all of that, da da da da da, here and there. Didn't work with the Falcons.
Sorry about that. And coached in the Super Bowl. Give him credit. He says, you see all these defensive backs that the Eagles drafted? Who cares that their past defense has improved? They're still young.
We got to light them up. They've been impressive so far to me of staying connected, which is hard to do. And this division has some good receivers, you know, and you can see those matchups. How do I go about it?
Where do I go? He's off to, you know, both of them are off to an excellent start. Yeah, well, the Eagles passing defense is ranked third in the NFL as they get ready for kickoff.
And Jalen Hurts just spoke to the media. Nick Sirianni is ready to go as well with his camouflage on. And Nick Sirianni, let's hear from him because he said, our team? Well, we believe our team is very good with the sky's the limit.
I think the way we prepare, we can go far. Listen to this. That feel that when you have when you're around the team, that's something that you can't, I can't really explain. It's just, hey, this is how it feels. And I feel like we're continuing to come together.
As a football team, we can continue to get better at this, just like we can continue to get better at our details and our, and our physicality. Man, that dude talks with so little conviction. Every time he speaks, I think what I'm saying, I hope what I'm saying makes sense. So nobody questions what I'm saying.
So by the time I'm asked about it later, maybe things go my way because I'm not so sure on what I'm saying. This is why this man, if they suck this year, hey Bill Belichick, get Belichick on line one. Get Nick Sirianni out of here. Hey, where's Vrabel at? We need Mike Vrabel in here. I know Nick Sirianni, I know he sweats at the end of these games because they're going to get him gone.
I think that without a shadow of a doubt. 855-212-4227. That's 855-212-4227. We're going to take a break. When we come back on the other side, we'll talk some more football. We got, we're going to talk some basketball as well.
We're going to talk about it all. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief. It is the JR Sport Brief show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. This portion of the show is sponsored by the new 2025 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid that has class leading advanced safety features like the available blind spot view monitor to make your ride more enjoyable.
It's just an enjoyable Thursday evening afternoon here with you. Thursday night football is underway between these Philadelphia Eagles, these Washington commanders. Man, they, they showed Saquon Barkley warming up. He had one guy behind him with that gigantic human rubber band. He's like holding, it's the resistance band. So Saquon is running forward with the football, has the resistance band on his waist while a human being is slowing him down. And Hickey, there's another guy who has a boxing glove and he's trying to punch the ball away from Saquon.
Saquon doesn't have on pads. And this is his preparation for the game. Again, I think it's tough from our seats, right? Looking at this game on TV to understand truly how physical this game is and just how freaks of nature these guys are.
That's a great window into it. We would all, 95, 99% of us, if thrown in that situation, would be on the ground. Probably with some sort of bruise, injury, maybe multiple injuries. And he's just wearing it like it's warmups.
No big deal. Yeah, this is, this is the warmup. He's just like, yeah, I got, I got 11 250 pound guys, some of them 300 plus pounds just trying to rip me to shreds. So, you know, what's, what's one guy pulling me with a rubber band and another guy punching me with a boxing glove? Nothing.
Just, just another day at the office. Have you ever, have you ever, have you ever, ever like thought about, and I don't say wish, but wonder maybe what it would feel like to just take, you know, a carry at the middle and just get hit? No, no, no. I don't think about that. What I think about, and I've seen it, you've watched enough documentaries over the years and what have you, the running backs when they get up the next day, that's the part where it's just like, well, damn. So I'm not thinking about the hits when they happen. Cause I'm not saying you could shake it off, but you have adrenaline, you lose the blood is pumping. But when you lay down at night and of course these guys are getting treatment after the games and, but you still got to eventually lay down, you got to go to sleep. And I know we have advancements in technology. You can, you can sleep in enormous tech boots, trying to get the inflammation out of your legs.
I get it. But watching guys, old, older dudes, Jerome Bettis roll out of bed and just that you, you're elderly because you are, you're bruised up. Like these football players are conditioned to just that they're, they're calloused.
Their bodies are hardened to take the abuse and take the hit. So picky. The answer is no, man. Not at all.
No. It does cross my mind again, not wishing for, but I'm curious like what that would feel like. Like if you ever played pickup or something like that, like once in a while, like my legs are shot and you're just like, everything hurts. So I can only imagine it's probably that times 10. But also it gives you more respect for guys like Tiki Barber.
We see around here in the studio, although all the time who walks around, like you would have no idea that he was just taking abuse for 10 years. Well, if you want, if you want Tiki to drop a shoulder into you, just let me know. I'll have that arranged. Okay. I'm okay. Thank you though.
Tempting. All right. I'm just saying you should check you through the glass and all you get your, you can take care of you. I don't doubt it. I don't want to go through the glass, man.
I'll just take a shoulder to like the chest. But how, how many, you know, it depends on which glass, the glass directly in front of you. How many times would somebody have to attempt to throw you two before you went through? Never. Right. I mean, in theory, yeah, that's supposed to be like shatterproof. So I mean, it could be a bad day for me if my life is dependent on, Hey, we're going to keep throwing you here until it breaks.
I could be there for a long time. Yeah. Never.
My body may just be mush, but throwing like a old banana against the window and just, all right, this is not going to get the job done after all. Nothing. Nothing. Yeah. Bad, bad idea. Yeah.
No, I don't think about those things. I like my body the way it is. I went to, Hey, Bob, I went to the doctor today. I got my, my annual physical. The doctor looked at me and was just like, wow. Okay.
I am in good health. I'm like, yeah, what the hell? What am I supposed to be in it? Like, like bad here. You looked at my blood pressure.
Wow. Like this is you. I'm like, yeah, that's me. The hell you think this is like an operation. You think I run over here. I like the surprise. Is this the right guy for looking at here?
Yeah. I'm like, what the hell is wrong with you? You thought I was going to croak when you walked in the door, like give me a break here. You're in good shape. It's like, you're walking in obese.
Like you're about to kill over two seconds. I'm not Saquon Barkley. I don't know. I told the lady, I said, look lady, I feel 18. And she said, she says, no, you don't want to feel that like twenties. I said, nah, my twenties, my knees were hurting and they were okay.
18. Not really, but this is why you think I couldn't outrace Steve Smith anyway. Hmm. Oh, here back to that. And here we go back to now. Now the confidence I'm sure is even more inflated with a couple of you got at the doctor's office until they send me back lab results.
And they go, you look good on the outside and your heart is pumping, but your insides are terrible, bro. Okay. You got three months. Enjoy. You got three months.
Enjoy. And we'll, we'll see what happens. I'm not Saquon Barkley.
I'll tell you this Hickey, give me a few years. I'll be able to outrun him because his legs will be shot. Okay. I mean, those quads are, you can't lose that muscle and that twitch. He will be limping around post NFL as well. Come on now.
Geez. He's heavy at the bottom. So he's heavy. He's gone. He's going to be shaped like a pear.
Okay. So he fights off those hits. They just, they run into his knees as they treat chunks.
They bounce right off him. Let me tell you something. If you are, I don't know if you're heavy, if you're heavy, how do I say this bottom heavy?
There you go. I was trying not to say it or whatever, but if your bottom heavy, if the lower, if the lower part of your body is heavy, you can't run as fast. Come on.
That's, isn't that common knowledge. Come on. Well, then you explain why he's able to run so fast. I'm saying when he's older, he has the power. Now he's young when Saquon Barkley is 50. Come on. He, he, he is like 65.
Me probably. Yeah. You still, you think at 65 you could beat a 50 year old Saquon Barkley in a race?
Uh, in my chair. Yeah. You may be able to beat like if you stay your age right now and Saquon Barkley at 50, maybe you could beat him. Maybe we'll see how he ages. I don't know why you don't think I could beat these retired guys, man.
Steve Smith just wouldn't allow you just from the pure will and competitive standpoint. Bruh. He's 50. I see him walk all the time. I've sat next to him. I've walked around with him.
I've been around. I know how he moves. He can't, can't run. Can't outrace me.
He does a lot of leg injuries. Yes. Old and ankles. Old basketball players cannot beat me in a race. Okay. Come on now.
See these guys all the time. He's older. Little, little, little heavier, a little heavier. Come on. I think we should set it up.
I think it'd be a good little bit. Can I, can I have my glory? I'm not talking about LeBron James here. Okay. You could be Charles Barkley. Feel confident in that.
Feel confident in you being Shaq. They just, I think he just, they took his knee or he got a new hip. One of the two. Yeah. Come on. He was just on the show, so I don't throw too much shade here.
Who Barkley or Shaq? No, the next person I'm about to name. Kenny? I think you could smoke Kenny.
That's someone I feel very confident in backing you. Kenny has the knee issues. I know. Why are you laughing at Kenny's knees? I did see it on social media recently again, and it did give me a chuckle. You know, I saw, oh my God. You know, I see Kenny every now and then in the street here.
Okay. Unbelievable. I see him in the street every now and then. I did see a guy where I typically see Kenny in the street.
It's an older gentleman. And I go, that guy walks like Kenny. And I said, I could beat that guy in a race. I said, I could. And then, and then it came to my brain. I get, I go, I'm not going to ask Kenny this. Hope Kenny never hears this.
I'm whispering like it's going to change it. You can't put braces on? I'm just, no, I'm not a doctor.
It's a legitimate question. Like there comes a point in time where you start going, Hey, it's going to wrong direction. Like I can't put a brace on it. Maybe it's just stubbornness. Well to not put braces on? Maybe he just says, you know what? Like my legs will never cave in. So you know what? If I got a walk of the lip, so be it.
If I went from being an athlete and I played so hard, my legs started looking like the letter X. I need. Why did they decide to let me in? I was just slowly ready to cave in. Why did they let me and you do a radio show together? Who's brought, who's brought that deal with this? I heard about it.
It looks like the letter X. They still let him run to the board. One day. Like you took a, he took a suit and dropped it over the letter X and said, all right. Oh my God. Oh, he's going to, oh, he's busy. It's Thursday. He's working. He's probably going to the board right now. But those people in the back, some of those work, they're working hard. They're not listening. I was about to say, I know what some of them people are doing and they write down a block for me too. Oh boy.
The good news is if he ever does get mad, he tries to run after you. No, no, no. They don't do this. It's Thursday night football. There's no game. Yeah. He's in Los Angeles minding his business.
He ain't thinking about me. That's right. Maybe in a pool somewhere. Yeah, in a pool.
Yeah, absolutely. Shout outs to Kenny the Jetsmith. That's my guy from Queens, New York.
It's an old, well, anyway, it's the JR Sport Breeze show here with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network. We're going to take a break. And speaking of people getting older and slowing down and all of this stuff, we're going to talk about LeBron because LeBron James is not slow. I was watching him play last night and I looked at LeBron and I said, looking at him play basketball makes me tired for him. I'm like, damn, this guy's old. It's like, it's finally like he old man. He busting ass at 40 years old. He is about to be 40 next month. And you see the age now in his face. And it's just like, you're not tired.
I'm tired looking at you, man. Well, here from LeBron is he did something amazing again last night. 8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27.
That's 8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27. We'll get into LeBron, talk some more football. We got it all. You're listening to the JR Sport Breeze.
It is the JR Sport Breeze show here with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network. We got a score on the board. The Washington commanders just rushed for a touchdown. Brian Robinson punches it in at the end zone. And now Washington has a seven to nothing lead against the Philadelphia Eagles. Let's see how these Eagles decide to go ahead and and answer back three minutes ago here in the first quarter.
8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27. You know, right before we went to break, you know, we talked about what we talked about a lot. We really got into the impact of, you know, what playing professional sports does to somebody's body. You know, looking at Saquon Barkley warm up and he's getting punched with boxing gloves and he's being dragged by the rubber band.
Somebody's dragging him. It's just, it's a lot. And it takes a toll on you.
Something that I'm not willing to deal with. That's why I don't get paid the big bucks. They do. Now, there's still a guy in professional sports right now. We saw this a few years ago with Tom Brady. Snap the ball, throw the ball, hope that nobody hits you.
Be smart about it. There's no ands, ifs, or buts when you're running up and down a basketball court. That's LeBron James. There's nobody hitting him. He's not getting tackled.
A 300 pound man's not trying to sit on him. But the stamina, the cardio, the conditioning, the muscles, the joints, my knees hurts. My feet hurt. My ankles hurt. My hips hurt. Thinking about being 40 years old for 22 years, running up and down a basketball court.
Damn it. I don't want to do it for five minutes. I will not do it for five minutes, but I'm not LeBron James. I am not six foot nine. I'm not 250. I'm not 260. I'm not built like a truck. I'm not a genetic freak.
I don't have $1.5 million to spend on my body to condition me to play ball. I don't have a son in the NBA. That's LeBron James.
That's him. And last night, he continues amazing everybody because he's just doing LeBron things. I watched this game, LeBron James and the Lakers, they beat Memphis 128 to 123.
Lakers now have a record of seven and four and LeBron James last night, 35 points, 14 assists, 12 rebounds. He turns 40 next month. This is this man's third straight triple double. This is the oldest human being to have three straight triple doubles. And damn it, the last time that he did this, he was the oldest guy. It was six years ago.
That was the oldest. And now he's about to be 40. He's not slowing down. I was literally looking at him hickey for the last, for the first time I looked at LeBron and I said, I said, he's not tired. Like I've never, I've never watched him and said, Oh, he's old. I've never looked at LeBron and gone, Oh, this man's slowing down. He's breaking down. But yesterday, even with all the triple double, I'm looking at him and I'm saying to myself, how was this guy not exhausted?
How's he not sick of this by now? It's unbelievable. It's truly unbelievable. And we may never see it again, just with all the things you said before about genetics and work ethic and everything kind of put together. It's a perfect storm with what we're seeing with LeBron. It is, it's impressive. And I hope everybody is still appreciating at his age, what he's doing and how impossible that is. We may never see this ever again.
So enjoy it. And I guess to his benefit, the way he came into the league, things were a little bit more bruising, slow down, you know, plotting of a style. I guess it's a benefit to him that it's, it's less physical that you can go up and down the court without as much kind of abuse. And even still today, LeBron goes to the basket, not the same way, but he goes to the basket and he's, he's still moving. He got old man strength. He's always had old man strength, but it's not a problem for him. I guess it's been a benefit not to be pushed around, but still just the mileage and forget the regular season games.
You think about all the years in the playoffs and the deep runs and he just played in the Olympics. I don't know. I don't, I don't think LeBron is going to get to, you know, April and just be like, all right guys, I'm done.
I, it's, it's amazing. He was asked last night, bro, how much longer are you going to do this? I don't know.
I don't know. I'm not going to play that much longer. I don't know how many years that it is.
It's one year, two years, whatever. I said the other night, I'm not playing till the wheels fall off. I'm not, I'm not going to beat that guy.
I'm not going to be the guy. Yeah. No.
Disrespected again because I just want to be out on the floor. LeBron James is going to leave average in like his last season. Yeah.
Hey, I got 25.7 rebounds and seven assists. Come on. And we're going to know when he's gone.
Trust me. Cause he's going to get the tour. LeBron is going to go to every city and he's going to get gifts and everybody's going to love him.
There'll be people lined up outside and they'll turn it into a documentary and then they'll sell it. He's not just going to ride off into the sunset. We're going to know when LeBron James is done. When LeBron James is getting ready to call it a wrap. He says he doesn't want to do it until the wheels fall off. Good for him. Everybody wants to go out on their own terms.
Sham Sharani. I was going to say new woes, but uh, he's his own self on ESPN earlier today. He pretty much said, look, LeBron can stick around for another year or two. This is what he told first take.
And I found it interesting this week. He said, he's not going to play until the wheels fall off. Right. And my sense is next season could potentially be his last season in the NBA. Now, could you play another season after that 2026, 27 potentially Bryce James is, is young James is his youngest son class of 2025. Maybe Bryce James keeps him around an extra year or two. But I do think next season also our game in LA, there might be some, some good momentum there for that. Ah, a little bit of a farewell.
Oh, you know what? I said this for a long time. Like when Brady was towards the end, I was sick of looking at him.
I'm like, I brush sit down like enough, enough. I'm, I'm still amazed that what LeBron is doing and I'm trying to soak it in and enjoy it. But Hickey, I'm, I'm on the fence as to whether or not I want to see more or whether I've reached the point of I bro. Okay.
But he's still good. So I don't know. I don't know how to feel. I do hear you. And I, I think there is like the tour, the retirement tour will be insufferable. I think we can predict that now and it will get old very quickly, but still why it's just, you know, the tough part is I think it's truly tough.
I know we just talked about before. It's, I think it's truly tough to kind of in the moment, like realize what we're seeing. Yeah. I think it was going to take some time, like maybe five or 10 years from now to really appreciate how high of a level he was playing at, at his age. Nobody has nobody, not even, not even Kareem. And you know, he had the benefit of being a sensor, but LeBron James is a gigantic guard. He's he's moving. He's active. I don't man.
And there's no, there's been no drop-off. So it's not like, like, it's almost just like, Oh yeah, we're just watching LeBron. And he's like an eight. Like he truly is an ageless wonder.
Bro. I remember in 2018, 2019, when LeBron first got to the Lakers and he had the groin and is like, Oh, LeBron James, this is the inevitable slowdown. That was six years ago.
Six years ago. Have you, I'm sure you've seen that tweet. What did a guy in like 2015 just tweet something? He's like, Oh man, LeBron is now on the other side of 30.
Thank God things are going to slow down. And I see that tweet like once or twice a week now after every triple double and it's nuts. Even LeBron last night, he was asked about that. Like, man, you're the oldest dude to do everything. Like what's in your head?
I don't know. I'm just living in the moment. I'm just living in the moment. And it feels good to be able to go out and play the game that I love at a high level still, you know, and every night I step on the floor, I try to help our team be successful in any way, shape, form or fashion.
So in that sense, it's pretty cool. Hickey, we won't know. He's not going to give us a clear answer, but he can't physically feel the same way, right? He can't.
It's impossible, you know, from the recovery. And of course he has always spent time on recovery. Otherwise he wouldn't be where he is now.
But is he getting up in the morning going, man, how much longer am I going to do this? Or is he just like, I feel okay. I think he's still, I mean, physically, he's limited, but not as much as he had, as you would think. I think it's a recovery aspect, but I mean, if you don't mind it right, if you love it, I think you have to at that age, because there's so much that goes into it, then like, you're not going to get sick of it. So like, I think you would see a, if he truly was like, Oh God, I got to do this again.
You would see a drastic decline in his play. But I mean, Powell intense, he's as locked in as ever. And I'm sure that, you know, everything got to do like after the game or whatever rehab to get back, he still loves the process. Yeah. It's amazing. He's amazing. And last night, the first night I looked at LeBron, I was just like, bro, like looking at you makes me tired. They showed a video of him recording stone cold, Steve Austin on a flip phone.
Like that's how long he's been around. All right. Okay. Yeah. Wow. It's wild stuff.
We have all, all advanced. It's the JR sport reshow here with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network and Washington commanders still have a seven to nothing lead here against the Philadelphia Eagles. And how about I just saw this speaking to be an old, I just saw a 58 year old Mike Tyson slap Jake Paul at their way in. Yeah. They got to attract all the attention.
I guess it's not on pay-per-view it's on Netflix, but the more people who watch, I guess the more money there is to be made tomorrow and into the future. Can't wait to see what fight they put together next. If we call it a fight. Anyway, when we come back on the other side of the break, we're going to talk some more football, give you an update on what's going on between Washington and Philadelphia. We're going to discuss another big game. We got Kansas city and Buffalo. Well, we got a lot to get into more college football. It's the JR sport reshow, the infinity sports network.
