What's going on? A tremendous Friday to you, Alvy. Alvy, can I have it? That's what's known as the Devin Show. All day on Fridays.

Today's Friday. Today's Friday. Yesterday was Thursday. Tomorrow's Saturday. What's up, hood?

Cannot believe how well your team is playing. The hell happened? Today's Friday. Tomorrow's Saturday. I can't believe it.

You might win again. Still boring as hell, but wow, credit. Welcome to the program. I am Jim Rome. We do that on Fridays.

That's the decade. Yeah, good show for you. I'm going to finish the week strong. It's been a very, very good week, and the show is presented by Fanduel. Always by Fanduel.

Appreciate them very much. All right, let me say about the program. Why don't you get up in here? I was talking to my manager, my longtime manager and radio mentor, Craig Kitchen, this morning. I said, KTK.

I know you're out and about doing a lot of business, but there has been this unbelievable rebirth of the phones. People are calling on the phones. It's awesome.

Now, is this sustainable? We don't really know, but we like it. We're having a lot of fun with it. And I've been with KTK since. I hate to date both of us, but since the mid '90s.

Long before there was social, long before there was anything, even back in the day when we used to pull fax machine submissions.

So good to see on the phones. Why don't you keep it up? Prove to me that you can keep it up and it is sustainable. One eight hundred six three six eight six eight six years. One eight hundred six three six eight six eight six.

See the positive in that is this: if you get on hold and you can make it better, you go right to the front of the line. There's nothing d baggish about cutting the line if you're good enough. Go right to the front of the line. You're a VIP. Number two, what you have to say is going to be heard across so many different platforms: terrestrial radio, satellite radio, our stream, our TV channel, our YouTube channel.

Everybody's going to hear it.

So if you're not afraid, and you've got a sack, and you've got something to say, get up in here. One eight hundred six three six eight six eight six. Go ahead and pick a topic. You don't even need to respond to me. Set your own agenda.

Thank you, Abby. A little late with it, but thank you.

Okay, brass set. Is that better? Or if you are not about that, life doesn't matter. We're still on X. Hit me up on X at jimrome.

If you are not about that, you can email me Rome R O M E at haveate dot com. Or if you are about chat, hey chat, what's up, chat? Go to our YouTube channel. Make sure you hit the sub button, please. Smash that thing, then ring the bell, then head on over to chat, and then become a distinguished clone.

What does that mean? For a nominal fee of a buck ninety nine a month, you can be a distinguished clone, set apart from normal clones. Ask me; it's worth the investment.

Now, what do you get for that investment? This little R next to your name, but everybody will know you're distinguished, and that you're throwing down two bucks a month to support the program. All right. There's that coming up at 1 p.m. These are West Coast times, Pacific Standard times.

1 p.m. The head football coach at SMU, Ret Lashley, back on. Haven't talked to him about a year, and they're doing a great job. He's doing a great job again. We'll have that Green Bay Packers safety.

Evan Williams coming up at 1:40 in ATP in hour number three. Ali's week that was in hour number three.

So we're gonna have a show now. We got a lot to get done, and the phones are ringing. And I love to see it. All right, why don't we start with the Thursday night matchup last night? Lived up to the hype.

Good game. Actually, very compelling game. Listen, you can hate on Caleb Williams all you want. You can hate the way this guy paints his fingernails. You can hate that he slams matcha lattes.

You can hate the way he went down like he took sniper fire when he just tweaked his hammy. Hate all you want, but what you cannot deny is this dude is a straight baller. And he set the field on fire again last night. This is why I don't give a damn about the nail polish or the towel over the head, fist pumps while he was getting carted off for a hamstring strain. Who the hell cares about any of that when you've got a dude with this kind of talent, this kind of arm, this kind of ability to make winning plays in high leverage situations?

He proved it again last night that all of that is in his arsenal. When he came out on top in that duel with Drake May, once again Caleb showed he's got a big brass set. He's got a howitzer for an arm, and most importantly, what he is is the right guy at the right time with the right coach and the right scheme. Could it be any more obvious that the Bears have this thing lined up? And that Caleb and Ben Johnson are only going to get better together, and that they're already damn near elite.

Now, I'm not necessarily saying that Chicago's time is right now. What I'm saying is their time is clearly coming, and maybe their time would be right now if not for that Dennis Allen defense. Because who actually trusts that defense right now? I'll tell you one guy who doesn't: Big Head James Kelly. And when Big Head James Kelly is right, then the Big Head is right.

And there's a reason why the Big Head has Dennis Allen on that one list that you never want to be on: the Big Head James Kelly list. And frankly, and I like Dennis Allen. When Dennis Allen was a head coach, he would come in the jungle all the time. I always enjoyed talking to him. I just don't enjoy watching his defenses.

Sorry about that, D. And you gave me another reason not to trust you. That freaking catastrophe to end the first half. The hell was that? It turned a comfortable Bears lead into a one-possession game.

This is horrific. May. Gonna flip this one here. Stevenson looks behind him, looks for somebody. Maybe the lateral to Steve.

Look at him! Look at him go! Can you believe this? Touchdown! How?

How did that happen? How does that happen? How do you let them lob a two-yard pass and then turn that into a forty-five-yard untouched end zone run? The hell was everybody doing? Why were you blitzing?

Why were you rushing that many guys? Why did you drop three? And what the hell were they doing? Looking at you, twenty-four, Malik. Why is Malik Muhammad running in the opposite direction of the guy with the ball?

Yo, Rook. What are we doing here? I don't know. I mean, I've never played football, so maybe I'm not the one to say this. But it seems to me the object of football is to knock the guy with the ball on the ground and not run away from the guy.

Run to the train, my dude, not away from the train.

Now that said. That that's like an unforgivable act. But if I can forgive anything, I might be able to forgive the Rook because while he did the inexplicable and run the opposite way from Ramondre Stevenson at the worst possible moment, and it could have cost him that game. Literally, he was all up in AJ Brown's grill the rest of the night, which I got to say is not the best look for AJ Brown. Hey AJ, anytime you want to do something, and I mean anything, that would be great.

Because the Pats, my half am, they only traded a first and a fifth for you, bro. And I thought it was your dream to be a Pat. I'm thinking that they were expecting a little more from you by late October than nine receptions for 101 yards and zero point zero touchdowns. Those weren't your numbers last night. Those were your numbers for the season.

Right now, you are ninth, ninth on the Pats in receiving yardage. It's not like they've got Julian Edelman and Randy Moss and Wes Welker. Wes Welker in that wide receiver room. Gone, is gone. AJ, again, I thought your dream was to be a Patriot.

This is what you were dreaming about, or were you dreaming about getting locked up and shut down by a rookie in prime time in a patch uniform? All that dreaming about finally being in a patch uniform, only to do nothing in a patch uniform. In the end, though, the game did not come down to either offense. It came down to a crazy special teams play, and. A pretty gutsy as hell Ben Johnson call.

Now it depends on what game you were watching. If you are playing the line, you might not like that call. If you are playing that game straight up, or you are just a fan, you are like, "Damn, this dude again is showing a big brass set." Somehow, some way, after he had missed a field goal that was not as long. Kyros Santos hits the longest field goal of his entire career when he did this. Yeah, it's on its way, and it is good.

Yeah, man, what an enormous kick! You mean Howard Dean? Yeah, enormous because not only did it essentially end the game right there. And not just because it was Santos's career long, but I'll tell you what it did, as well as my guy played last night. I guess he's my guy now because I'm the only one who defends him.

Not named Adam Rank. What up, Rank? It bailed Caleb Williams and the rest of the offense out because, as well as Caleb played last night, and he did really well. He made one unbelievably horrible mistake, an inexplicable, unforgivable mistake that could have cost them. And that was taking that third down sack.

The one thing you cannot do. He knew that. Yet, seemingly, he took that sack, and seemingly, it took Chicago out of field goal range, and it gave the Pats new life. In fact, Ben Johnson, it seemed like, was all ready to punt it, but an injury timeout allowed Santos to make his case that he tried, he wanted to try to make that kick, even though he just missed one from fifty-three.

So Ben listens and then says, "You know what? What the hell? Do it." Do it. You want it. You got it.

Take your shot, and he made that kick. Man, now could that have been a disaster if Santos missed? Hell yes. But guess what? He didn't miss.

And I'll give credit to Mike Vrabel for putting the Bears in that awkward clock situation in the first place by having his defense intentionally jump off sides on third and short. That ended up saving the Pats enough time to have a chance to win. If Santos missed another kick, and by the way, if he misses that kick, if he misses that kick, see, I thought for sure that they were going to punt. All right, great. Then you got to play a long field.

But if he misses that kick and he jumped off sides to save time, I mean, look the hell out! Unfortunately, though, for the Chows. He drilled the kick, sent the pats home, and he did it to sink Vrabel, who had previously cut him in Tennessee. Think that's sweet for him? No wonder he wanted that kick.

You know he wanted that kick. Vrabel had cut his ass.

So, all in all, Chicago, great night. All in all, half am, painful night. But nobody's got it worse today than all you Caleb haters. Man, hate all you want, but nail polish is going to get the last laugh on all of you. I think hate all you want, but I think this dude ultimately is going to prove that he is special.

Hate all you want, that team's going to end up somewhere if Dennis Allen can get the hell off the field. Let's see what I am going to do. I was so impressed by what I saw last night. I am thinking tomorrow morning, first thing I do, I roll out, paint my nails black. Smash a matcha latte.

Do you have any idea how much energy so many of you are wasting with all that hating when there's really nothing to hate on in this case in the first place? Dennis Allen, man. If only you could have seen the text exchange between James Kelly and I in the first half. Like Dennis, the defense is playing well. And I literally started give you up, head.

I literally, literally got James Kelly to admit you got to take him off the list, dude. I know you never take anybody off your list. You got to take Dennis Allen off your list. He's like, I know, man. I really do.

I really do. And then that play before halftime. Then from James Kelly into my phone, the f bombs start flying. And he says to me, and I quote, "That dude is on the list for the rest of the season." And that's pretty much the way it went the rest of the night. It's a good thing James Kelly won his bet, or I'd still be hearing it this morning from him.

All right, so I want your reaction to that game last night. Phone lines were all lit. Love to see it, man. How about James Dolan? How about this dude?

Did anybody really think that winning a championship would change this guy in any way? If you did, bro. This is why almost everybody walking around the planet hates you. This story is brutal, brutal, even for Dolan, which I'll get to. I want to talk some college football matchups.

I meant to get to it yesterday, but not today. Today, man, Texas, Texas has got a big one. Texas has one that they have to have, have to have, and I want to talk about that too.

So. I'm looking for your reaction on the phones, on X, on email, on chat. I've got Brett Lashley coming up at the top of the hour. I have Evan Williams of the Packers coming up next hour. I've got some reaction from you coming up next segment.

It's going to be a good day. It's a good Friday. A lot of ground to cover.

So do what you do. Get up in here.

So the phone rings. It's your bank, or you think it is. Big mistake. That wasn't your bank. It was a scammer that bought your info from a data broker.

Application times and rates may vary. All right, some reaction for you. Here's my dude. Look who's in at Adam Rank. Thank you for the shout out at Jim Rome.

Appreciate you, Adam, my man. Totally appreciate you. Appreciate you, and I know you had a big night last night. There he is, biggest bearers honking Cali. Not him.

Oh, not him. Not him. Oh no, not him. Not him. Not him.

Oh. What up, Adam? Miss you, bro. Great win last night for you. And I'm with you on Caleb, Dr.

Dre, No Cal, Snagger. Great.

Now at Alvin Deloro, we'll have to add Al Michaels to the deck. Yeah. First of all, Alvin doesn't have to do anything. You can't tell Alvin what to do. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

The only one who can tell Alvin what to do. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Waiter, maybe you can. Ah. Alvin says no.

Alvin, let's hear it one more time. It's your call. It's not my call. Yeah! Yeah!

Alvin. No. I love it when Alvin doesn't even use his words just as drops. All right. So, Dr.

Dre, no cal. Apparently, Alvin does not have to add Al Michaels. Yeah. I mean, I'm all for it. I love Al.

But it's Alvin's call, not mine. At Pingator, quote: If there's nothing wrong with the matcha, try switching up that Starbucks order and tell me how it goes. Hey Pingator, why don't you try listening to me? I just said I'm gonna roll out tomorrow morning, paint my fingernails black, and get the matcha. What do you mean, hey man?

If there's nothing wrong with it, why don't you try switching up? Why don't you try making me a sandwich, man? There's jungle Tourette's right there, in San Antonio. I just said I'm going to Pintor. Why don't you make me a sandwich?

Why don't you watch it on your phone? Why don't you make me a sandwich? Even I have the Tourette's, jungle Tourette's. At linear messenger, hey Romy, I was waiting for Al Michaels to go to his go-to line. Do you believe in miracles?

After watching that serial-ass Adam Rank defense, all right, that was not serial-ass Adam Rank defense. That was serial-ass Dennis Allen defense. Like I can't even believe what I was seeing the second they lined up. I thought, like Adam Rank, no, no, no, oh no, not that, not that guy, not that. Like, what are you doing?

Oh no, Dennis, Dennis. I normally I would say that I know you have forgotten more football than I'll ever know. In your case, my guy, I don't even think that's true. But what were you doing? And then the guys that you did leave back, what the hell were they doing?

That that literally could have cost you your job. That would have been a fireable offense if they used that as mo. I mean, thank goodness that Ben Johnson presumably got in your ass at halftime and made it very clear. Look, what's done is done, and let's start the second half. We've got thirty more minutes, and they did, and they came out, and they somehow put that behind them.

I think a non-Ben team would not have put that behind them. And that probably would have cost them a game, and then that would be a fireable offense. That can't happen.

So I said to James Kelly, and not that he was listening because he was too busy dropping four letter bombs, and we're texting back and forth. I'm like James, James, James, just stop for a minute. I have something to tell you. From now on, going forward, after seeing that play, it's no longer Josh Allen, Jim. It's Dennis Allen, Jim.

Josh Allen, Jim. Nah, never again. Not after that play. From now on, it's Dennis Allen, Jim. Josh Allen, Jim.

I mean, and if James Kelly was that put off, can you imagine what Bears fan must have been feeling? Kicking this. Can you imagine what Ben must have been feeling? I guarantee they got back in the locker room and he tore him a new hole. But they held together.

You know what that turned out to be? That turned out to be a shootout between Drake and Caleb, and they both got away.

Well, Drake didn't. Caleb got away with making one really bad mistake. Drake played great. Drake had another great game and just one bad mistake himself. He had that bad pick.

But all in all, for a Thursday night. For Thursday night, that's a good night because Thursday night games, as we all know, typically are pretty brutal. Love the reaction, Jamie and Green Bay is in. I guess we won't be hearing from that doofus, Chris in Boston again today about Caleb Williams or how many points the Patriots won by. Jamie, solid.

Jamie is solid, and I he did. Chris in Boston did make his pick yesterday, and I did make my pick yesterday. And he took his chows, and I took the Bears. "Quote: I guess we won't be hearing from that doofus Chris in Boston again today about Caleb Williams or how many points the Patriots won by." Jamie, I guess we will. Let's go to Boston, Chris.

He's on the phones like clockwork, my man, my half fam, Chris. What's going on, dude? What's up, dude? Listen, I'm gonna need I'm gonna need some ethos insurance after last night's game, okay? Good, because what a roller coaster, dude!

You can get it for minutes online. Just answer a few easy questions. You can get up to three million dollars for as low as thirty bucks a month. Do it.

So first of all, I ain't hiding anywhere. This is Titletown. We have so many shifts. We've lost games in the Super Bowls to the Giants. I ain't hiding from Bears fans and people from Wisco.

Okay, listen. Drake May and Caleb played unbelievable. Drake one pick. That's the difference in the game. Should have won that game.

If we were in Foxborough, we win that game. Those aren't excuses, though. We lost. I'm taking the L. I was wrong.

Typical Boston fashion. I'm loud in the box. Just it is what it is. Great game on Thursday night. A lot of positive things though.

Our defense is hurt. Our offense is hurt. We need time off. Once we get some time off, we'll be back to full strength. Hey, great Super Bowl though.

Bears passing the Super Bowl will be phenomenal. Do it again. Love it again, Jim. I'm out. Thanks to Levan.

All right, my brother. At least you had no excuses, brother. You know, we were hurt offensively. We were hurt defensively. If that game were in Foxborough, we would have won.

But no excuses. No excuses. If the game were in Foxborough, we would have won. Right? Again, if the queen had balls, she'd be the king.

If I was six five and had a fifty-inch vert, I'd play in the NBA. What do you mean? If the game were in Foxborough, we would have won. It wasn't in Foxborough, and you could have won. And we were banged up offensively and defensively.

But I don't make excuses. Injuries are like the worst excuse because everybody's hurt and nobody cares. Injuries are the worst excuse because everybody's hurt and nobody cares. They beat you. You had your opportunities.

Damn! Did you not see the end of the first half? They all would put that on a silver platter for you, and you took advantage of it, but not to full extent. But, but, but, thank you for calling up and owning it, sort of, my man, Chris in Boston, one eight hundred six three six eight six eight six. Let's go to Pensacola and notice I am rolling phone calls.

I love it. Love to see the callers back. Eddie in Pensacola, Eddie, what's going on? What's up, Romy? Hey, man, I'll tell you why the caller's back, brother.

I call. I set the tempo. I'm back, brother. I'm not saying it's me, but I'm saying because I call and I have a take and I don't suck. It it it lets all the other ones call.

You know what I'm saying, Romy? And and let's talk about Luther Burton going all Johnny Morris. On the Bears with the Bears last night, brother. He he had his Halloween costume on. That cat's some serious, you know.

And if if Texas loses this weekend, Sark may be looking for an offensive coordinator job. If Alabama loses this weekend, DeBoer has to show grub. DeBoer, and I know he's your DeBoer. You know what I'm saying? But Romi, if that happens, Sark needs to swallow his pride.

Say this still runs. That go back, get some more rehab, figure it out. If we have the smack off, Doctor Smack will be there. Rag me, Jim. I'm out.

That's not a good call. Nah, you don't like that call. I don't like that call. Not a very good call, man. There's a whole lot going on in that.

A lot going on in that. I was trying to make sense of the end of that, and I got to be honest, I lost a part of it. If you ran him, there must have been some self gloss. Was there self gloss, Tommy? Help me out here.

Tommy's my EP, my right hand guy. Was there a self gloss? Why did Alvy? Because I know I don't want to ask Alvy because Alvy is usually in a mood on Fridays. What happened there?

So was he calling for the smack off as Doctor Smack? Like Doctor Smack here is saying, "When is the smack off?" And self glossing, a third person self gloss. Alvy, can you play that back? Can we hear the end of that? Or am I asking too much, Eddie?

I got your back, but you know the rules. You cannot self-gloss, or you will get run. Doctor Smack is nothing that anybody's ever dropped on you. You dropped that on yourself. I know I didn't drop that on you, and I know nobody else did either.

That's why it's quote self-gloss. Let's go under the hood. Figure it out. If we have the smack off, Doctor Smack will be there. Rat me, Jim.

I'm out. All right. Hey, uh, quote Doctor Smack. That's Smack malpractice, Doctor Smack. Bro, you're a quack, dude.

Bro, bro, bro, bro, bro, bro, bro. Do you have any idea how good your Smack has to be for somebody to drop Doctor Smack? Like you, you have a PhD in Smack, or you are like a medical doctor of Smack, bro. Let me tell you something about you, self-glossing yourself, Doctor Smack. I am not even Doctor Smack.

I am not even Professor Smack. I am just Van Smack.

So, if I've done this for thirty plus years and I am in the Hall of Fame, and I am only Van Smack. Eddie, my brother. How can you be doctor Smack, dude? If I don't have a PhD in Smack, you don't have a master's, a BS, an AA, a GED. None of that, man.

All right, but but but but. How about that? How about we gloss you Smack GED? Since you tried to gloss yourself, Doctor Smack, Eddie, I'm not doing that because I like you, brother. If I didn't like you, I would definitely gloss you.

I'd give you your own gloss. It would be GED Smack, not Doctor Smack, or Smack GED. Anyway. First of all, and their thing is, you can't invite yourself or say that you are in the smack off. You said if t here is a smack off, Doctor Smack will be there.

Again, you need to qualify. You can't self gloss, and you can't put yourself in the smack off. It's like saying, "I am going to be the halftime show of the Super Bowl." Oh, okay. I'm gonna okay. That's fine, and I'm gonna be the quarterback in the Super Bowl.

Here are the things that you cannot do: you cannot self-gloss, you cannot go third-person self-gloss, and you cannot demand to know when the smack-off is and then just put yourself in. Once again, I don't know if we're having a smack-off. I need to see more momentum for it, and I'm gonna need more momentum than Doctor Smack saying he's in it. Number two, if we have a smack off, the way you get in, you're a defending champ. That gives you a lifetime exemption.

Two, you play your way in, you earn your way in. We put you in the field. Three, you get a golden ticket. That's how you get in. Here's one sure way not to get in: self-gloss, third person, and insert yourself in the field.

Damn, Eddie, you got me all fired up. But I'll tell you what, Eddie. Because I like you, my brother. Again, like I said, if I didn't like you, I would GED smacking you. I'd be doing that.

But you're not in the smack off. But you are in a new club, my dude. This is your new club. These are your new friends. Let me introduce you to your brothers: Levi the Trash Man, Dice Man, Loni Carter in Spokane, the Axe, Big Horn, Falling Bob, Jay Bizzle, Manic Cheeseburger over here, Shot Caller in Van City, Loan Profit, the Grump, the Grouch, Moldoggy in NorCal, the Dougler, Zookeeper, Roaster, Garbage Man, Brad, the Cracker Jack, G Money.

Brutus James, me old bag the deuce. They call me the Booger Wolf, the Thumbsmacker, Piano Man, Carolina Dave, Doctor Smack. Doctor Smack, dude, look at all the new friends you have. That is going to be an amazing thread that all you self glossers have. Damn, I'm glad we did that.

I forgot how many have tried that. Anyway, Doctor Smack. That is some kind of frat. That is some kind of club, Doctor Smack, and you are the latest to join. Hopefully, they don't haze you too hard.

Look, you know me; I've got content. I'm loaded. I've got a lot of things I want to cover, a lot of things I want to talk about.

But I'm trying to get as many of you in here as possible, and it's working. I'm loving it. Keep it up, chat.

So, I look. I have to make these distinctions. This is from chat. This is from email. These are the phone calls.

We just want to make sure that everybody gets their proper respect. Chat at Twin Seventy Eight. Doc Mike is the true Doctor Smack. He won a smackoff back in the day, right? First of all, he was Doc Mike, not Doc Smack.

There's that number two. He won two, actually. His brother Jeffrey, the lawyer, won one. Mike is a dentist. Mike won two.

So that's three smackoffs in the family between the two bros, the Detolas legends back in the day. Have not heard from either one of them in a long, long, long time. Janet actually is pretty friendly with Jeffrey. I think they'll exchange an email once or twice a year, just checking in. Haven't heard from Doc Mike in a long, long time.

But Doc Mike was one of the originals. Doc Mike was no G. Doc Mike was one of the great, great, great jungle callers. Really smooth, and one two smack offs. At Adrienne the Moon quote.

Doctor Whack, what's your last name? Prescott. Joseph Thomas seven ninety two. Also on chat, AJ Brown. Love what can Brown do for you?

Not much. He's not. What can he do for you? Not much. He's got nine receptions on the year.

Not much. They're gonna need more. This guy also takes offense, and he should, because he is a doctor. Rome, Ed, who the hell you think you are, Doctor Smack? I am.

Who do you think you are? I am. Well played, well played. Not good enough to get the gloss, Ken, but well played. Rome, Ed, who the hell you think you are, Doctor Smack?

I am. Who do you think you are? I am. So Ken in SA is actually a doctor, so he's got every right to say that. Matt in Calgary, the Docs are basically the Mannings of smack.

Well played, except there are no, there is no offspring of the Detolas. There is no Detola progeny struggling. In the jungle, failing to get racked and in danger of not even having their call taken. There's not that, but a good point. Good point.

I will, however, get to that Manning later on in the program. I meant to get to it yesterday. Back to the phones. Let's go to Milwaukee, Jesse. In Milwaukee, Jesse.

Good to have you. What's going on? Beautiful day to be in Milwaukee, Jim Rome. How you doing, man? Good, dude.

Good, good. I really appreciate you taking my call today. World Series Game One in Milwaukee, Wisconsin tonight, dude. I would say in general, people who overuse the phrase "unbelievable" these days, but this is really tough to wrap my head around, man. I think the reason why, no secret, it has been a long few decades around these parts.

Some of my earliest memories involve the bleachers of County Stadium, watching the likes of Greg Vaughn, John Jaha, Jeff Sarillo, trudging to sixty some wins, going over to Miller Park. I still got some PTSD from the three, four, five, six of Jeremy Burnett, Rich Sexton, Gio Jenkins, and Jose Hernandez. Man, those were the best players on our team. And they gave me more, more strikeouts in two years than like decades worth, man. It was unbelievable.

Ned Yostock and gibberish with four in the after games didn't help, and that is all to say nothing of our feelings getting hurt in the playoffs for the last couple years. But it has all been worth it, and it's all to say that this city, the fans, and the team really deserve this, man. The team especially. I think there's plenty of credit to go around. Starts at the top.

I think Jackson Chirio is one of the best players in the sport. I think Jake Bowers has had some absolute all-time at bats, and he's going to be a Brewers legend forever, regardless of what happens here. I think Wild Bill Contreras, one of the best leaders in all of baseball. I think he keeps those pitchers absolutely dialed, and is just in general a dude that nobody wants problems with on the other side. It's been so fun.

Along those lines, man, all credit in the world to Murphy, dude. Every button that dude pushes seems to work out. It's truly incredible. I am of the opinion that he is the best manager or coach going in any sport right now, dude. And along those lines, I am fundamentally incapable of calling you without making fun of Craig Counsell a little bit.

I hope that dude's having a good week. He sold out his former team and his hometown, all in the sake of money. And all the people that had his back, he left. He left his World Series franchise. Nice call, idiot.

Money does not buy happiness, Mouse Boy. It also does not buy penance. You can ask your fan base, and you can ask the Dodgers. They'll tell you. Personally, Rome.

If I was running a franchise that had that kind of payroll that was going to lead to a work stoppage, I'd probably try to roll out a lineup that. Jesse, Jesse, Jesse, Jesse, get to the shore. Shark, shark. Jesse, swim. As we sound the horn to stop the final.

Jesse, shark, swim, swim. As hurry, hurry. Final. There's a shark in the water. Get out of the water.

Shark. As we sound the horn to stop the final. You know what that is? That that's what I do to guys that I don't want to run, that I have to run. I let them know that they're out in the water and there's a shark swimming towards them.

Get to the shore! Get to the shore! And then we just kind of wave them off because I didn't want to run the guy. The guy was great. I agreed with everything he said, except he wasn't going to stop saying it.

He would have rolled right into hour two and maybe hour three. I understand that it's been 40 years. I just don't need you to share every single thought you've had over the last 40 years. But man, I loved what you had to say, and agreed with almost all of it. And I loved some of the shoutouts, some blasts from the past.

When he starts name-checking guys like Greg Vaughn, love Greg Vaughn. Sacramento, by the way, Greg Vaughn used to come on this show. Jeff Cirillo used to come on this show. I thought that I heard a quote Rich Sexton reference. Also used to come on the show.

I'm fired up for you, man. It is a great organization. The Brewers are a great organization. It is a great team. Great manager.

Great bullpen. Love their starting starting arms. Love what he said about Contreras. Agree. Churiel obviously is a star, and they're the ones to beat.

So, Milwaukee, you should be fired up. Rhett Lashley. When we come back, want to be the one who's always in the know about the game, the scores, the plays? Here's a tip: the Apple Sports app. Just pick your favorite teams and get automatic live updates without even knowing their schedules.
