It is! The JR Sportbreeze show here coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. I'm coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia. Thank you to everybody tuned in and locked in all over North America. I hope you are safe. I hope you're well. I hope you're amazing. I hope you're just as cool as our super producer and host Ryan Hickey in New York City. Me?

I'm in Atlanta, Georgia. I appreciate you for being here. We'll be hanging out for the next two hours. I had to make sure I was right on that.

Yeah. We get started every weekday, 6 p.m. Eastern, 3 Pacific. You can always listen on the free Odyssey app, A-U-D-A-C-Y. You can lock in on your local Infinity Sports Network affiliate. You got a smart speaker. Ask it to play the Infinity Sports Network. You got series.

It's channel 158. We got you covered. Man, we've already been here and done a lot. Thank you so much to Alex Shapiro joining us from the Chicago Sports Network to talk about the flailing Chicago Bears. Pretty bad.

Pretty awful. Fire their offensive coordinator Shane Waldron. Hey, in about 20 minutes, we're going to have a chat with former NFL head coach, former college coach, current ESPN NFL football analyst, former player. Herman Edwards is going to join us.

Quite loquacious, quite informative, quite opinionated, quite entertaining. You play to win. You win the game. We talk to hear Herman Edwards. We'll have a chat with Herman Edwards in 20 minutes from now. Meanwhile, if you want to chat with me, you can 855-212-4227. It's 855-212-4227. Speaking of Atlanta, here in Atlanta, right down the road from me, not even right down the road.

I could jog there if I wanted to. Michigan State and Kansas. They're playing right now. State Farm Champions Classic.

It's 45 all. I see Steve Smith. Shout out to Steve Smith, a Michigan State alum. Ms. Spartan owes me a call back. I need to yell at him. Hickey, it's hard to yell at people when they're a foot taller than you.

Very, yeah. It's not very manly to look up and try to yell at somebody. I'll kick them in the shins. Not that bad. I see your shins, buddy.

They're right here. I'll kick you. That'll knock them down to your level. Well, easy. Hickey, who do you think is faster right now?

Steve Smith or me? I mean, are you serious? You talk about your knees being so bad. Bruh, but I can move fast.

How am I supposed to know that? All you do is talk about how bad your knees are from back in the day. My knees are bad. My back is bad, but I run. I jog.

I can move. So you think you can, if you had to get out of there, you could run faster than Steve Smith? Are you kidding me? Steve Smith, he's going to be mad if he ever hears about this. Hopefully no one sends it to him. He's at the game.

He's not listening right now. I'm looking at him. He's almost like he's got to be 55 years old. You think he's faster than me, a retired 55-year-old NBA player? Come on. Compared to a streetball player with no knees and a bad back?

I don't think that's not outrageous at all. You think he's fat? Oh, Hickey, come on, man. I need to send you video of me running down a block blazing. Hickey, I run up hills. I run in the grass. I run laps. You know, I just take it easy.

That doesn't mean my body is not hurting or that I'm not slightly broken down. Oh, but I move, man. I move.

Sounds like you move when you have to. I'm assuming if Steve Smith's chasing after you, it's kind of, you know, he'll have some extra adrenaline. I think in a small burst, he still has it. No. Uh-uh. If me and him lined up in a race and you said go, I'd beat him by, I'd beat him double time. Wow. You'd dust him off the line? Oh, yeah. Yeah, of course.

Wow. 100-yard dash. You'd beat him by, what, 20 yards, you think?

He's 55 years old. A former player with longer legs. That stride length, he's going to catch up to you.

You got to take more steps? He played basketball for like 30 years of his life. You don't think his legs are cooked?

I think so. He looks good. I mean, he's walking around. Aw, he's older. Come on, heavier. He's not on the Hawks or the Spurs anymore, the Trailblazers.

Come on. Do you think, though, he's still, I mean, I don't want to say training, but I'm assuming he looks like he's in good shape. Oh, his son plays. He doesn't play anymore.

No. I'm not saying play, but like, I think he stays in shape. I don't know how old he is.

I nailed him. He's 55. Come on. He's not laying on the couch all day every day and his legs have, you know, not been in use for the last 15 years. I bet she still stays in shape. Heck yeah. He's in shape and I've been around him, okay? He ain't beat me in a race, all right? Not happening.

Let's just say if that race ever happens, I'll put money down. It won't be on you. I can't believe you. I'm insulted. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm insulted. I can't believe it. I gotta film a video.

I'm shocked you're taking this strong of a stance. I gotta film a workout video tomorrow, Hickey. I'm going to do one of these Ben Simmons. I'm going to do one of these Ben Simmons unedited so you can see me running laps and sprints in the park tomorrow.

I can't believe it. Just go live on IG. Let everybody see the real work you put in behind the scenes. Watch me run and then knowing me, this will be the day I blow out my ACL. Thank you.

Thank you, Hickey. Yeah, I blew out my ACL trying to prove I'm faster than Steve Smith. I'll be mad at you and Steven. He has nothing to do with this.

In that case, I'll definitely beat you in a race. Oh, look at this. No respect.

Not even here on my own show. No respect. No respect. You gotta do the old Rodney Danger view. Collar tug. Yeah, now I know how Rodney Danger.

There's no respect. Hickey, I'm going to remember that. I'm going to remember that.

My soul is crushed. All right. Okay. All right. I hear that.

I hear that. Well, anyway, he's at the basketball game with Kirk Cousins. Hickey, you don't think I could beat Kirk Cousins in a race?

He's an active athlete. He might actually be my age. Let's see. How old is Kirk Cousins? I might be older than him. Let's see. Who's older, me or Kirk Cousins? I think I'm older than this guy. Let's see. He is coming off an Achilles injury.

He is looking pretty well. Well, he's younger than me. I beat him in a race. Come on. Wow. Yeah, I beat him. Let me ask you, who aren't you beating? I'm not beating Tyreek Hill in no race. Okay. Wow.

I'm shocked you said that. Would you beat Usain Bolt? He's been retired for a little bit.

Usain Bolt, he gave me some tips on racing. Oh, so you used that against him. Yeah, I did.

Yeah. He's a little heavier now, but he still beat me in a race. I think you're talking to him smack there. He's getting fatter, slower. To him? No, he's heavier.

He doesn't, he is. Still playing soccer? I don't know. He blew out his Achilles. Oh.

He did. Yeah. Ouch. Yeah. No, I'm not beating Usain Bolt in a race. You think I'm stupid? I'm just saying, I mean, you're claiming right now you could beat a current athlete in Kirk Cousins, a former athlete in Steve Smith.

I didn't know where the line was for you. 55 years old, yes. Kirk Cousins is younger than you and right now currently playing in training. Okay. He's slow. Come on now.

I'm not beating my mom. Even the slow, I mean, I think a lineman right now would beat you in a race. A lineman, yes.

A younger, yes. So a 300 pound offensive lineman, you're okay with admitting he wouldn't beat you in a race? No, a younger lineman, a younger lineman, not an older one. Kaleis Campbell would not beat me in a race. Tyron Smith wouldn't beat you in a race? No, he wouldn't because he'd get hurt.

He'd get hurt. Come on now. Younger offensive lineman right out of college. Yes. He might beat me in a race. Sure.

Older lineman, been in the league, doesn't need to run anywhere anymore. No, he's not beat me in a race. No. I think you could beat Andrew Whitworth. Of course.

Yes. I don't know many other people you could be right now. You don't think I'd beat an active offensive?

Heck yeah, underestimate me, bro. They are so athletic. I don't think you're giving them enough credit. They run like five to 40s. Yeah, I know. When they come out of college, when they're around and they don't have to run, they don't do that anymore. You think these guys run these 40s and then, you know, they think they do this in year eight?

Come on. Tyron Smith has a six pack as a left tackle. The guy's in great shape. He's not beat me in a race. He could beat me in a test of strength. Yes, he could pick me up with one arm. Not beat me in a race.

And the hubris here is shocking. Hickey, I'm quick, man. I'm quick.

Very fast. I got it. I guess I got to see it. That's all I got to do.

I got to see it sometime in action. Yeah, bro. I can move.

I can move. Believe that. Believe that.

Man, you spent the past eight minutes. Did you beat Joel Embiid in a race? Oh, of course. Are you serious?

Yeah, I guess most people listening could do that, too. Do you know how many times I have seen him play in person, like right in front of me? You know how many times I've seen him warm up?

It's amazing. He moves in slow motion. There is no way he is running. Me and him are on suicides. You think he's beaten me in suicides?

No, that one I would agree with. I think you'd beat him. I think you could smoke him. He quit.

He quit. Well, that's better get hurt. And that's NBA endurance. And as I say, this Joel Embiid hits the floor, laying on the floor, on his back in his Skechers.

I noticed something like, oh, that's right. He wears Skechers. Good for him. He's got a big brace on that left knee. The Skechers are good for your feet. Well, that's what the commercials say. Yeah, that's why the old people wear Skechers.

For the retired folks, I don't know about the current athletes. Joel Embiid, a whopping two points, all three, two rebounds and three assists. Oh, my God. You're right about that brace.

Is that legal? That's like an offensive lineman brace. That's huge. It's like he had a whole new leg. He probably needs one. You see, he looks smaller, right? He looks a little less heavier. He does. He definitely around like, yeah, around the stomach for sure. It's definitely slimmed down a little bit. When he stands up straight, he looks a little lighter. Not saying much, but I mean, so he gets like pushed out of the paint in, like, January. We're going to start talking about how he's got to gain weight.

No, I don't think so. Who the hell is that guy behind him? I used to know every single player in every single sport in every single league. Now, where did they get these guys? The white sleeves. Yeah, there was a guy over his shoulder. Looked like he's just wearing a T-shirt. Like they just picked him up off the street and said, hey, we need somebody to play for the Sixers. Here's your chance.

We need you right now. You can't even take the T-shirt off. Keep the T-shirt on, put the jersey over and put you on it. He's wearing like literally just a random T-shirt.

Professional. He's skinny too. That's why he's wearing a T-shirt. Cover up those biceps they're like they're of? Yeah, professional basketball players who wear T-shirts under the jersey. They're always the smallest guy because they don't want to look like I don't want. I don't know.

They don't want to look inadequate. We're in the basketball jersey. Now, out of all curiosity, really, who is this guy? Well, this is guy I couldn't tell you.

This is the first I'm seeing of them. New York Knicks lead a 36 to 31 as Joel Embiid goes to the bench. Cause of going to the bench tired. There goes that guy in the T-shirt again. He's always in the background. Not a good enough sight, though, to see his number or last name playing his role.

What, zero? Downton Junior? Is this this guy?

Yes. And it is him. Oh, my gosh. He is Jeff Downton Junior. I've never heard of him. He is 27 years old.

He's from Rhode Island. Oh, my God. He played in 2021 to 22.

Oh, my God. He played for three. Oh, he played five games that year. Nine games for three different teams. Okay, this guy's not an NBA player.

Okay. Explains a lot. He's played a whopping 50 games in the last four years. He does look very skinny.

Like, he looks like he does not belong on the court. Oh, no. He is listed at six foot three.

One hundred and seventy seven pounds. No. Yeah, that's why he wears a T-shirt.

Yep. I think I weigh more than him. One seventy seven at six foot three. That's unbelievable. He's 27, so he ain't gonna get no bigger.

Okay. Now we know why he wears the T-shirt. Congratulations, Jeff Downton Junior. This is the first and only time he will have his name ever said on a national radio broadcast.

All the best to him. And good luck to the Sixers in that heavy Joel Embiid or whoever the hell he is. Anyway, it's the JR Sport re-show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. Hickey, we've spent the past 10 minutes insulting me. We spent the last two minutes insulting Jeff Downton Junior. That's his name again, right? That is his name.

You nailed it. Good for Jeff. Okay, great.

Yes, we're going to take a break when we come back. We are going to have a chat. This guy played in Hickey. I could beat him in a race. I could.

That I would not disagree with. We're going to have a chat with Herman Edwards, the former head coach in the NFL, former college coach, ESPN football analyst. So many things to ask Herman Edwards. Damn it, I'm going to ask him about his former team, the New York Jets. I'm going to ask him about the Chicago Bears. I'm going to ask him about the Dallas Cowboys, why they are so dysfunctional. I'm going to ask him about someone that he had on his staff at Arizona State University. I'm going to ask him about Antonio Pierce and the Raiders, what they are going through. I'm going to ask him about the Chiefs who look like they're on the run. There's so many questions that I have for Herman Edwards. Yeah, this man played in the NFL and coached in the NFL. He's analyzing the NFL. And yes, absolutely. I could beat him in a race.

Not a bunch of years ago, he would knock me the hell out. It's the J.R. sport show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. We're going to have a chat with Herman Edwards and then I guess sooner than later, we're going to find out about the latest college football playoff rankings. We have so much more to do.

So don't you move. You're listening to the J.R. sport brief. It is the J.R. sport show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. We're about halfway through the NFL season. We have some coaches who are gone. We have some coordinators who've been let loose.

We have some teams who are streaking toward playoff runs and we have some teams that have a lot of hope. For the NFL draft to talk about what we've seen so far this NFL season is someone who played in the league, coached in the league, and this coach at the college level is currently an analyst on ESPN. Joining us right now is Herman Edwards. Mr. Edwards, thank you for taking the time, coach. My pleasure.

Thanks for having me, my friend. No doubt about it. I guess the first question, one of the top of line items right now is finding out that Shane Waldron is no longer the offensive coordinator of the Chicago Bears. This obviously affects Caleb Williams. What is your evaluation of what we've seen so far from Caleb as well as the Chicago Bears as they've been scuffling? Well, I thought early, you know, he struggled like all young ones do. When you talk about rookie quarterbacks, now Jayden Daniels is kind of a step above all these guys right now.

And then I thought he hit a spot where, you know, the game slowed down for him, played, you know, was starting to play better. And then the loss against the Patriots was a little bit of a head scratcher, you know, and I just think that when you look at all these young quarterbacks, you got Daniels in Washington, you got Drake May with the Patriots, Bo Nix, Denver, Caleb there with the Bears, and Levis with Tennessee, you know, all of them are playing. Now Jayden's above all of them right now when you look at his numbers, but most of them are right around the same number. I mean, look, Jayden's nine touchdowns, throwing in four, running, you know, he did what he doesn't do and he didn't do it in college. He had to turn the ball over into interceptions. You know, Drake May, seven touchdowns, five interceptions. Bo Nix, ten touchdowns, six interceptions. Caleb Williams, nine touchdowns, five interceptions.

And Levis, seven touchdowns, seven interceptions. So, and that's what it looks like, you know, and now the team that's in the hunt is Washington. You know, Washington is there in the NFC East and we thought this division was going to be between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys, but the Dallas Cowboys have lost four in a row. They might be done.

They are done. And Washington are the two teams in the NFC East, the Eagles and the commanders trying to figure out who's going to win the division. Herm Edwards is here with us, the JR sport re-show coast to coast. You talk about the development of these young quarterbacks. There's only one Jayden Daniels. We got Caleb Williams here.

We saw what C.J. Stroud did last year. Are quarterbacks being asked to do too much too soon as it relates to their development or is it strictly about, hey, we're paying him so much money, we need these results ASAP? Well, quarterbacks have a lot to do with the system that you're asking them to play in.

And if you're not putting them in a system that allows them to flourish or play well, then you got a problem. And Jayden has a unique situation with Kliff Kingsbury. You know, Kliff Kingsbury in college had a mobile quarterback at Murray. Kliff Kingsbury was at Arizona when I was the head coach at Arizona State. He knows Jayden. He watched Jayden in college. So now he's the coordinator with Washington. So he's built the offense around Jayden's skill sets.

Drake May is in a situation with New England. You know, the quarterback is tied to the coordinator. But the coordinator has to be understandable and understand my system has to be flexible enough to allow this quarterback to be successful.

And I might have to give in to some things that maybe I didn't want to do before. You know, here's a fine example of it. When you think about Russell Wilson, okay, Russell Wilson is better than quarterback. He goes to Denver with Sean Payton, quarterback whisperer.

Sean Payton is a West Coast guy. He's a West Coast offense guru. He wants a quarterback to get the ball out of his hand, all these things. That is not the strength of Russell Wilson. Russell Wilson is a guy that wants to throw the ball down the field. And now he's at a place in Pittsburgh, the same kind of offense he ran where?

In Seattle. They ran the ball. They played good defense. I can throw the ball down the field. Well, now he looks like Russell Wilson again.

Kind of interesting. Without a shadow of a doubt, former head coach Herm Edwards is here with us on the JR Sportbreeze show. Someone else known to throw that football is Patrick Mahomes. All by his standards, this might be an undefeated team.

But there are critics who look at him and go, oh, my God, he's not the same guy. Oh, 12 touchdowns, nine interceptions. When you see the Chiefs, all I see is wins.

What do you see, coach? That right now they're a team that knows how to win. And in big moments, they make the plays necessary to win. And that's the key to winning. Bottom line, that's what the good teams do. You look at any team historically in any sport when games are close. And sometimes these games are closer than you could imagine to think that this game should be over.

You know, why are these guys letting them hang around? And you're talking about Patrick Mahomes, the best quarterback on the planet. And he doesn't have the numbers that everybody, you know, thinks he should have. But he has the one number.

They're 9-0. And here's what I keep telling everybody. Well, okay, you don't like the way he's playing. What if he starts playing really good? Then what's going to happen?

You got a problem. It's going to be scary. Well, we know the teams that are typically in competition with the Chiefs, it's the usual suspects. The Bills are a quiet 8-2.

We see Lamar Jackson having a ridiculous season, another MVD caliber year. What team out of the AFC do you think has the best chance of knocking the Chiefs off? Well, I think obviously the game this week, I think the Buffalo Bills can get them in Buffalo. The Ravens, obviously.

Lamar Jackson, the way he's playing. I don't count the first game of the season when Kansas City beat them. I mean, I don't even start counting games until after the fourth week because these guys don't play in the preseason anymore. So you don't know what type of team you got. I mean, they don't play. So the first regular season games to me, the preseason. The problem is they can't because the players don't play football anymore. You know, so I don't count those games. The first four, throw them out the window.

They don't matter to me. Now, the season started now. Now we know we got eight games left. There are teams in position to win divisions. Some teams have already won the division. You know, and the fact that no one's going to catch them, I mean, the Buffalo Bills might be one of those teams. The Kansas City Chiefs, kind of interesting. I mean, I think they win this division.

And I think there's a team that, look, and I said it before the season, I said, you better be worried about those Chargers. They're going to be better. They are better. They're better. And everybody said, no, that's going to be too fast.

No, it's not. No, they got some talented players. Coach is going to come in there with his program and they're going to be a tougher football team. They're playing excellent defense. They're going to run the ball. They're going to, you know, control the line of scrimmage.

And the quarterback's going to play better because they're not going to put it all on the shoulders. They're not going to ask me, you just got to drive the car, man. You just drive the car. You know, everything around you will work.

You just drive the car, do what you need to do. So, that's a team that's kind of interesting. Houston, obviously they're going to run away with that division. That was a bad loss for them. You know, you get five turnovers at home against Detroit and you can't win that game. That was a bad loss. And they haven't scored in the last two weeks the second half.

So, they got to get back in the meeting rooms and figure out what's wrong with that. I think Pittsburgh is coming. But I don't know if Pittsburgh can, you know, I don't know if they can overtake the Ravens, obviously. And you already talked about the Buffalo Bills. So, to me, those are the teams that are kind of hovering right now.

Herm Edwards is here with us on the JR Sport Brief Show. You talk about the team that took the Texans' lunch money. That happens to be those lines, despite the five interceptions from Goff.

They're still lighting up the scoreboard. We know the Niners are getting healthy. Who do you see in control of the NFC? Well, best team, for me right now, if you just look, if you just listen to your eyes and you watch all these teams play, in the NFC or the AFC, who's the best team?

Just be truthful. It doesn't matter. It's the Lions. It's the Lions. They're the best team. They're the most complete team right now. And they're playing that way. And their defense is much improved.

Aaron Glenn has done a nice job with his defense. And remember, they lost their best defensive player. He's not even available. He hurt.

He's out for the year. So, the Lions are a team right now, in my opinion. You know, they're the best team. Now, we've still got a lot of football left. There ain't no doubt about that. I know the Lions turned that ball over five times against the 49ers or the Philadelphia Eagles or the Washington Commanders. They're going to lose that game.

I know that much. But obviously, they're a team. And I think they don't get enough credit for the talent they have. They have a lot of talent on both sides of the ball. They're tough and physical.

They're bad. But they have talent and skill players. They've got a good offensive line. I mean, they're just a team that's playing very well right now. Well, Herm, I've got to ask you about a team that you used to coach. They have hit the skids another year, not looking good for the Jets. You have coached in the market. You are familiar with the market and the team.

What do you think happens in the future with these Jets, especially knowing the personality of Rodgers and historically what the squad has been? Well, I think you've got to let the season play out and evaluate this football team because they've got a lot of nice pieces. They really do. They're talented all over the place. But I've always said this in sports. It's great to have talent, but teams win. Teams win.

Okay, let's just always remember that. You can just go back and look at sports, any sport that you follow. There's a lot of talented teams that have never reached their potential because they've got talent, but they don't play together as a team. This is a team that has some talent.

There's no doubt about it. I think the season will end. We'll see how many games they can win. And then the question you're going to have to ask yourself, if you're the Jets, do we continue to do this with a 41-year-old quarterback? That's the question you're going to have to ask yourself. And only management can answer that. The GM's going to have to answer that.

Aaron Rodgers obviously will be in the conversation. If you want to come back, I don't know if they're going to get in the playoffs. It's going to be very difficult. But that's the question you're going to have to ask. And if you're New York, you're going to have to ask the same question. You're a New York team.

You're in the New York market. You're a 2-A football team. Your best player got in the taxi cab and you basically sent him to Philadelphia. And he's flourishing in Philadelphia. And you decided to stay with the quarterback. That's fine.

Now, are you going to continue to do that? They're on a five-game losing streak right now. So, you know, when you're in New York, if you're a sporting team, you know New York's different.

It's different. And you know that as a player, you know that as a coach, you know that as management. New York fans are quite unique. So both these teams right now are struggling. Yeah, the only good team in New York happens to be in western New York or the state.

There you go. That's the Buffalo Bills. Hey, Herman, as we start to wrap things up, I want to talk about someone who you used to work with, Antonio Pierce. We see what he's doing out with the Raiders trying to turn things around and players getting traded. Luke Getze, the offensive coordinator, is done. What are your thoughts on how he can right the ship? Of course, this is his first year.

No ship goes through smooth sailing. What are your thoughts on how the Raiders can get things together? Well, I just think obviously it's going to start with the offseason and them figuring out how to get a quarterback, right? I think, you know, this is a very competitive team.

Not in the shame of it all now. They got to win a game or two just to get them feeling better about themselves because they've lost five in a row. And, you know, that's a tough role to hold. I mean, you've lost five in a row. They're like the Giants. The Giants have lost five in a row. You know, those are the two teams that have lost five in a row, the Raiders obviously and the Giants. And so they got to get a win just for the locker room. Look, they're not going to the playoffs.

We know that. But I think if you're Antonio and you're the management, now you're evaluating the players. You're evaluating the guys that continue to put their professional ability out there and continue to compete. Because you find out a lot about your locker room, to be quite honest, when you're a 2-7 football team and you lost five in a row. You figure out who your leaders are.

You figure out the guys that have already tapped out, that are just playing out the string, you know, wanting to get home for Christmas. That's all a part of it. I mean, it's the truth. It's all a part of it.

And you know that. And you always tell players, hey, look, at the end of the day, you've got to remember this, man. The name on the back of that jersey belongs to you. And when you go out on that, in the arena, you're representing not only this organization, but you're representing yourself as a professional football player. And when people watch you, and I'm talking about the professionals that watch you, the guys you play against. And when you're on tape and that other team's watching you, they know if you tapped out or not.

So don't fool yourself. Well, Herm, I've got to ask you this in finality. I think this team is pretty much tapped out on the season, but the soap opera goes on. When and how can the tide turn for the Dallas Cowboys? Now they're talking about the sun coming through the stadium and the coach doesn't know the sun where it is. When does the soap opera stop?

It continues. These are the Dallas Cowboys, right? And it's a shame because here again, this is another team with a lot of talent. But I think Jerry's going to have to make some tough decisions at the end of the season, what he wants to do. Obviously, it's always the coach first, but then he's going to have to make some decisions on some players as well. Now he's paid a few already, but there's a few obviously asking for more. And this is what I said earlier in the season.

I said, look, if you're Jerry Jones, if I was management, I wouldn't have paid any of those guys. I'd have played after the season because he's been good in this paying his star players, but what is it getting us? I want to see him win.

I want to see him get in the playoffs and win the playoff game. I'll pay him then because you have all these stars, but at the end, it's the same result. They get more money, but it's the same result. You're watching the playoffs at home. I'm a player.

I'm all for the players, but if I put my management hat on, I'd go, wait a minute. I got all these good players, but we get the same old record all the time. We can't win in the playoffs.

And this year, we ain't even getting to the playoffs. And I paid two of my stars already. I got some more guys won some money. I'm going to pay those guys too.

For what? Yeah, I guess this year, the difference is the Cowboys won't get to those 12 wins or the playoffs. So I guess this year will be a little different. I certainly will be.

I mean, I don't know. And they got a lot of issues, man, that Jerry's going to have to look at. And this is why he's the owner. He's going to have to figure out what direction you want to go in with this football team and some of the players on the team. And, you know, that's his decision is his team.

But it's the same old result. Maybe a worse year than they anticipated than any of us anticipated. We thought this division was going to be highly contested by the Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys. And the commanders have taken the Dallas Cowboys spot. I guess all things considered, the first thing Jerry Jones could do is, I don't know, like buy a gigantic shade. But we'll see how that happens.

Hey, Herm, thank you so much for the time. Where can people find you, watch you, follow you, all that good stuff? Man, look, they can watch me on ESPN. That's about it. I don't do a whole lot of that social media stuff. I kind of stay away from that. I'm an old school guy.

I do my TV part and that's about it. Hey, Herm, we appreciate the time. And you enjoy the rest of the season. We'll catch you down the line, okay? Have a good evening. You too, my friend. Thank you.

No doubt about that. Former NFL player, former NFL head coach, and former college coach, and current analyst on ESPN, Herm Edwards. Joining us here on the JR Sport Brief Show. It is the JR Sport Brief Show on the Infinity Sports Network coast to coast. We are going to take a break when we come back. I do want to talk about one of the teams that he mentioned that just keeps on winning. It's the Kansas City Chiefs.

Because this is a team that is actually getting healthier as the season continues on. We'll talk about that. The college football playoff rankings. They should be updated in a little while.

We'll give you that update when it comes. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief. It's the JR Sport Brief Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. 855-212-4227.

That's 855-212-4227. Thank you so much to Herm Edwards for joining us in the last break. Herman Edwards, former coach, player in the NFL, college coach, the Sun Devils. A lot of insights.

Hickey, it's amazing even. Herman Edwards didn't have any hope for the Dallas Cowboys. How can you? He's smart. Everyone else doubted him. I mean, seemingly everyone's on the same page, right? There's no one really drinking the Cowboys Kool-Aid. Nobody. Except for one. Jerry Jones?

And that's the problem. It's his Kool-Aid. Hey, thank you, Herman Edwards. If you missed the conversation, go ahead and hit rewind on the Furi Odyssey app. A-U-D-A-C-Y. We're minutes away from the reveal. The latest update to the college football playoff rankings. We got 12 teams that are going to make it in. We got a ranking of 25. Give you that update in a second.

I did want to... Oh, Hickey, how about this? I will, look at that. They got Tulane at number 25. The green way. Fire them up. I should wear my Tulane sweatshirt tomorrow.

Nobody will call me a loser. We got to play the Tulane rejoin as well. Represent the great folks down there. Yeah, I love them. I love Louisiana.

I had a great conversation about Louisiana today. We got Army at 24. Listen, folks, we're going to give you the whole ranking at the top of that. Hickey, they're going to be done with this at the top of the hour, right? Yes, they have to actually, you know, because there's another college basketball game on, they actually have, right?

Cooper flag? Some constraints here to, or some, I guess, reason to push it along here. Get it over with, right? Oh, LSU falling to... Yeah, they ain't making no damn playoff. Get the hell out of here.

Did you see what LSU, oh, what the governor of Louisiana said today? Oh, no. Tell me.

Humor me. Go ahead. I know I'm going to be upset. Go ahead.

He apologized to the fine folks of the state of Louisiana for saying that the Tiger, the live Tiger that they brought into the stadium, was the only Tiger that showed up on Saturday night. Are you kidding me? Dead serious.

Oh, my God. Yo, Hickey, why are people such jerks? Like, he's not in the world of sports. I can say what the hell I want about him. Why is he a jerk? I guess because he can.

I don't know if he's trying to take heat off of the decision to bring a live Tiger, and now he wants to direct attention towards just those comments he took at Brian Kelly. What is it? What's his name? Landry or something like that? I do not know. Yeah.

It sounds about right, but I honestly am not sure. Yeah. Jeff Landry, governor of Louisiana. Oh, my God. Isn't it?

He just got the job. Oh, like, what's the point? What's the point? Just to argue? What a jackass.

They should put him in a live tiger pit and just scare him a little bit, man. What a dummy. And I get it. You can have a point.

You know, I think it's harmless, but he's just being a jerk. You know, there's no solid rhyme or reason to just say, hey, let's just put a tiger in a stadium for, you said, seven minutes? Yes. Yeah.

He was not in the stadium very long. That we shipped for seven minutes from Florida? Where does that make any type of sense? The last. Oh, sorry. I didn't catch up.

That's OK. The last time I looked, he didn't want to disclose where they got the money from to ship the tiger in. Like, where does this even make any type of financial sense? Let's ship in a tiger from Florida and bump him out to Baton Rouge to be shown in a stadium for seven minutes and then send him back to Florida. Where does that make sense? I'm sorry, Hickey.

Go ahead. I was going to say, by the time the team ran out of the tunnel, they said I was reading he was two miles away. So your point, they brought they did all that work, spent all that money, created all that hubbub for seven minutes.

And then by the time the actual game starts, the Tigers, like almost basically halfway back home. Doesn't make any sense. Man. Hey, this is people who vote into office, dumbasses, OK, Jeff Landry. What a dumbass. I don't know his position. I don't know what he stands for. I just know this is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard.

Shipping in a tiger. Now, on that note, Hickey, you know, it's time for an update on the monkeys. I don't have one. Do you? I do not.

Oh, no, I do not. What was it yesterday? You said 30 of the 43 were accounted for. I think if 13 monkeys were they needed, 13 monkeys were still loose out of the 43.

So I guess that means they caught 30 of them. And now, Monkeys, you have to be tough. Yeah, Monkeys, South Carolina. Let's see.

OK, oh, the one day, six hours ago. What is Monkey Island? OK, we don't even know about that. Two more escaped monkeys recaptured and enjoying peanut butter and jelly. OK. Hmm.

So what does this mean? We are down to what now? Eleven. Only eleven of the forty three macaws that escaped this week now remain outside.

So eleven. Hickey, they got back a good amount, OK? I would agree. I'm impressed so far. Do you say they helped to lure them in with peanut butter and jelly? I don't know. Well, you should go help them. That's crazy.

I heard you make a damn good one. I like to think so. But I mean, I figured peanut butter would work. I didn't know that they, you know, in this facility. I guess they're feeding them human food. I think after the fact, OK, Alpha Genesis officials told police that the two monkeys captured Tuesday were eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and appeared to be in good health. So they got PB&J after they were captured. How they captured them, I don't know. Interesting. And all thirty two monkeys have been returned to the compound after their escape.

OK, their efforts to get the eleven other monkeys will continue for as long as it takes. Uh huh. OK, whatever. All right. Here we go.

All right. There we go. Eleven monkeys. So those eleven monkeys, they've been loose for about a week now.

Just outside. Just looking at the monkeys inside, calling them stupid. Taunting them, probably. Yeah. They said they're cooing.

OK. Yeah, right. They're looking at the monkeys and say, hey, you dumbasses, you're still stuck inside. You stupid monkey. They're about to put tests to test you and put needles to you.

No more for me. I wonder if they'll catch all of them. I don't know how to feel about this, because on one hand, I feel like monkeys loose is not good. But then I also feel that monkeys on the inside are not good either. I don't know.

He just seems like the complexities of being a human, I don't know if I'm good inside or outside. I'm just here. That's a great question to ponder. Yeah, I got no choice in the matter. I'm just here. I didn't ask to be here, but I am. It's the J.R. Sport ratio pondering life on the Infinity Sports Network college football playoff update on the other side. Eat it.
