Our sport brief show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. I'm coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia. Thank you to everybody tuned in and locked in all over North America. Happy Tuesday, November 5th. I hope you're safe. I hope you're well.

I've been hanging out for an hour already. This show gets started every single weekday at 6 p.m. Eastern, 3 Pacific. And thank you to super producer and host Ryan Hickey for holding it down in New York City. Thank you to Chris for helping out as well.

Well damn, that was a lot. Chris, I like my music. Where's my music? I love it. Thank you. I love it. I love Jay-Z.

Everybody loves Jay-Z. Anyway, we got so much more to do here over the next three hours. We got a Super Bowl champ. We got a former Pro Bowler who's going to join us in about 20 minutes.

Lomas Brown is going to come through. He chatted up with us about these Detroit Lions. Lions made a big move earlier today, adding Zadarius Smith to the defensive line. Let's see how that works out for the Lions and the aggressive Dan Campbell. Joel Embiid got a fine and a suspension coming his way for putting his hands on a columnist. NFL trade deadline has come and gone.

We talked about it last hour. The commanders getting Marshawn Lattimore, the Steelers getting Mike Williams, and then the Cowboys are just as dumb. Well, as dumb as usual, bringing in a wide receiver that nobody knows about.

Jonathan Mingo, congratulations to the Cowboys. Captain Stupid there. And how about this? In a matter of minutes, we're going to find out the teams, the top 25 teams that are officially ranked in the college football playoff minutes away.

Yeah, we only going to get 12, but they're going to give us 25 of them. Thank you for that. We'll keep you up to date as things continue on. If you want to be a part of the show, it's simple. 855-212-4227.

That's 855-212-4227. You can find me online. I am everywhere at JR Sport Brief.

So much to get into. Lomas Brown coming in 20 minutes. But before we do that, right before we went to break, yeah, we talked about some of the trades that took place here. Steelers getting Mike Williams, Ravens getting Tredavious White from the Rams, Lions getting Zadarius Smith, him and his five sacks, the commanders getting Marshawn Lattimore. But we briefly talked about the game last night.

The one that wrapped up another week of the NFL season as the Kansas City Chiefs knocked off the Buccaneers. And the Buccaneers, we know they do not have Chris Godwin. They don't have Mike Evans.

They are basically running low and empty. But I got to give him credit because they're still competitive against one of the best teams in the NFL, a team that's trying to become the first team to three peat in the Super Bowl era. They're still out there banging it out with the Chiefs, so much so that when they had a chance to tie the game at the end or go for two to try to win it, they were even still competitive enough to be there, despite clock management issues. And Todd Bowles said, screw this. We are going to overtime. He said, I'm taking a conservative route.

I'm going to test it against Patrick Mahomes. Well, it didn't work out in their favor. They lost.

What else is new? And so Todd Bowles has taken a lot of crap for going for, for one and tying the game instead of trying to punch him in the mouth and just finish things off. Todd Bowles, the man of very few words, he says, I decided to go to overtime because I think we had a good chance to win. We're going to take our punches. We were playing OK defensively. We thought we were moving the ball offensively. We thought we had a good shot in overtime.

We didn't make the plays. Yeah, people are up in arms. Look, this is a team that's hanging on by a thread and they're still competitive. What? Why do people care so much? Right?

I mean, it's the Kansas City Chiefs. You punch them in the mouth and you finish the game off. There's no guarantee that you get two. People say that you just get two. You go for two. You automatically going to get it. And then you lose then anyway. You take the surefire thing. At least you have time in overtime. Like he's damned if he does, he's damned if he doesn't.

It doesn't matter. When you look at the grand scheme of things, this team is still playing hard for him. People will look at Todd Bowles and go, oh, man, what an idiot and what a what a dumb decision.

The fact that this team is still competing and they got every reason to lay down and quit. It's enough. It's enough.

Is it a smart move to go? Let's go into overtime with Patrick Holmes. He never loses. Not a good idea. And have been equally as bad an idea if he didn't get the two points and they lost. Get a goddamn break.

Andy Reid, of course, he was happy that they didn't go for two. Listen to this. He thought he would know, but I'm glad he didn't. Yeah.

He ended up winning. What else are you going to say? Eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven.

That's eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven. Lewis calling from San Diego. You're on the J.R. Sportbreeze show. What's up, Lou? How are you doing, J.R.? I'm amazing.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Oh, you asked me how I'm doing and then you didn't even give a damn. I'm great. Thank you. How are you?

I'm doing great. Sorry about that. It's OK. Go ahead. Well, I'm glad that you talked about the Chiefs. I'm 50 minutes late into the show.

I apologize for that. But this morning when I woke up, you know, I have a thread with my fantasy football friends from Utah and they're all like, the MVP of the Chiefs are the ref. Now, I'm a truck driver, so I listen to the Monday night games on the radio and yesterday I had some problems listening to it. And I know that there's some calls that go in their favor and all this other stuff. But I believe that as you know how you were just mentioning, Todd Bowles, and he's damn it, he does and damn it, he doesn't. I mean, if you're going to beat the Chiefs, you're going to have to have a perfect game plan for them.

Not only as players, you're going to have to do it in the coaching staff and the decisions that they make. So I mean, I'm a Chargers fan and it sounds ridiculous, but I'm actually looking forward for them to make in the three beat. Why? Whoa, whoa, whoa, why? It hasn't been done.

It hasn't been done. And you know what? I mean, but I fear that what the script of the, I mean, if there is such a script in the Super Bowl, they're going to face the Lions. And it's either going to be the Lions don't make it and the Chiefs make the three beat, or the Lions finally defeat or slay the perfect team of the Chiefs if they do make it undefeated, which it's a very likable possibility. I mean, the Chargers are doing great and the Denver Broncos have played them very well, but they have a pretty good growth to that.

I want to tell you something that you can go back and tell all your friends in the group chat. When you, when you are good, you get the benefit of the doubt. That's just what it is in sports. If you are good, you're going to have, you're going to get the benefit of the doubt. You're going to have some calls that go your way. And it's not because of bias. It's not because, Oh my God, we need to, we're paying these guys off. Oh my God, there's a script. You know, NFL made fun of this.

No, there's none of that. When you're good, people are going to respect you. That's just what it is.

And I don't want to be a downer here, but it's not just about sports. Like people look up and people admire, and people have more respect for people who sit at the top of the totem pole. Wouldn't you agree? Yes. That's just, that's just what it is.

And so maybe if some of the other teams had better talent, maybe if they were better coached and maybe if they had better plays, maybe if they look spectacular, maybe if they were amazing, they get some calls going their way too, but they don't. And so, I mean, we live in a world, unfortunately, and thank you so much, Lou, for calling from San Diego. Please drive safe. We live in a world of haves and have nots.

And when it comes to football and the NFL, the Kansas City Chiefs, they are the haves. They are. And how about this? We got the college football playoff rankings already underway.

Hickey, how long is this going to take? They just gave us army at 25. Are we going to go 24, 23, 22, 21? Are we going to just drip this out? Oh, there we go. Mizzou.

It's going to be definitely drip out for sure. And it's a guarantee we're having a commercial break between probably, oh, you think, oh, you think two commercial breaks? You got to, you have to break to like five, I think maybe, or maybe eight or ten.

And then you got to break again when you get to two and one. Oh, oh, wow. Maybe. I don't know. Interesting. Okay. I don't know. I'm just, I hope not. And it's just going to talk about dragging it down.

Clemson is still Clemson still exists, of course. Why are they doing, help me out here. Why the hell are they doing this in 25? And we only got 12. Why don't they just give us 12? We got 25 with the AP. What we need another 25 for? Well, cause you gotta, you gotta get the top 25. Hope. You know, you got, you got still a month left to go. Come on. You got to show what teams now are close on the bubble, which games are important, which are not. Do 20.

Come on. I mean, we did 25 when there's only four teams making it last year. That's stupid, but I forget. It's now been expanded to 12. How many, how many quote unquote bubble teams do you need besides eight? Everybody else can kind of think about where they're at.

Twisting to win. We got army at 25, Missouri at 24, Clemson at 23, Louisville at 22, Washington state here at 21. Oh, okay. Yeah.

I got the Buffalo's Colorado at 20 and hickey. Now they go to commercial right now. I don't, I feel like you can't do two commercial breaks. I think they'll go to commercial at, at after 13. This, this show is an hour, 30 minutes to drop the top 25 and another 30 minutes to analyze it.

Yes. So you give here another, would that be seven teams reveal 13. Now all of a sudden the top 12, that's what matters. Who's in the top 12, your break. You come back, you reveal the bracket in the form it looks and, or maybe at least the top 12. Then you put them in the bracket afterwards. Then 30 minutes of analysis.

Let's go. Yeah. We, we got Kansas state at 19 here and we are, we know who the time eight pit at 18.

We know who the top teams are when you ball down the four and it's really not going to change unless somebody gets the living hell smacked out of them. Hey, I got four screens going right underneath the rankings is the Jake Paul fight with Mike Tyson that we think is next week. I was about to say another advertisement for it. No, man, they run these advertisements.

You know, I don't watch too much TV, just sports. The only time I see the damn advertisement is when I'm here in the studio. I think it's next Friday. I think you know better than me. Well, remember what we were talking about? The commercial was at a few weeks ago and we watched the commercial.

I mean, both left. Oh, when is it again? We don't know.

They did not do a good job of highlighting the date. I think it's next Friday. I think, well, you'd be watching. Uh, I mean, yeah, I'll be leaving the studio. So I'll, I'll have, well, by the time I leave here, it'll probably be getting ready to fight. Well, that's one more fake. They'll drag it out.

Fights usually never on time. They'll have four under cards. Uh, oh, I was stayed at 17 Ole Miss at 16. Um, yeah, they will, uh, LSU at 15. Wow. Okay. Yeah.

I thought they'd be higher, lower LSU. No, no. Now we need to get down to the nitty gritty. Now let's get to fourth. Now we're in like the real space.

Like let's be real. Which one of these teams are winning? Ole Miss is going to win a national championship. They may not even make the playoff. That's what I'm saying. Let's just probably won after this weekend. Yeah.

We don't, we don't need all of this. LSU is here at 15. Why is it, how much, how much talking are they doing? I can't hear.

Not, you can't either, but I mean, damn. I mean, they're moving these teams pretty fast. So it seems at least again, that the, the, the time part of it, they're running through 15 or 25 to 13. See, they're already flashing the bracket. They're teasing it. Showing this stupid bracket, man. I ain't thinking about no bracket now, November 5th.

What a waste of time. Are they going to fill? No, they're not going to, well, they got to figure out the rest of the teams here. I like how on the, uh, the NCAA's official website, they wanted to make it very clear Hickey, that this is the only official ranking. They said, this is the only ranking that matters. So the AP's top 25 can go straight to hell. They said, this is the only one that matters. As it should, because I mean, the AP's not dictating who's going in the playoffs. It doesn't, but why, why they gotta be so, uh, so straightforward here?

Here we go. Unlike other polls, the college football playoff rankings come out only well into the season. Unlike other polls, it's the only one that really matters in italics. 12 team field be made up of the five conference champs ranked by the highest, by the committee, plus the seven highest ranked teams. Uh, it's going to be real interesting to see where Boise state ends up. Cause where did, where did they stop at 14? They swung, actually, they're starting to get, wow. They may actually read through this right now. I think they're going to give the bracket.

They just flashed Boise state at 12. Oh yeah. Wow. Oh my God. I need glasses.

First of all, can you see the first two teams out? No, I can't. I need to, I need to be small. Yeah.

I need to make the screw. I got like five things going right now. Oh my God. SMU 13, Texas A&M 14 for, uh, first two teams out of the 12 team playoff field.

Oh boy. I see Alabama at 11. Okay. Whatever we, we, we knew that was going to be the case. Why couldn't they just, why they got to show it in the bracket?

It was so much easier to read when they, uh, just gonna put it there the rest of the way. Anyway, we're going to take a break. We are going to take a break cause we have to, when we come back on the other side, we're going to talk to someone who is a super bowl champion or former pro bowler used to move people the hell up on out the way for some guy named Barry Sanders. We're going to talk to Lomas Brown. We're going to ask him about these Detroit lions, get his thoughts on what they've done, what they can do, what they'll do on the defense with their new defensive end Zadarius Smith. We got a lot to do Lomas Brown coming through on the other side of the break. You're listening to the JR sport brief.

This is the JR sport show here with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network, NFL trade deadline. It has come, it has gone. We have some, we got some contenders. We got some pretenders. There's one team they ain't pretending to do anything. They are lighting up the scoreboards. They are trying to get to a super bowl and for a franchise that has dealt with a lot of pain, the Detroit lions, they are on the up and up right now. It's time to talk with someone who laced them up, put on the pads for the Detroit lions, won a super bowl with the bucks, multiple time pro bowler. You can catch them on the radio out in the D joining us right now.

It's Lomas Brown Lomas. Thank you for taking the time to join us. Absolutely.

No problem at all. How you doing tonight? Listen, I don't got a complaint in the world. Hey, you, you played for the lions. I know there's a lot of lion fans who are excited what they've seen this season.

What were your first thoughts when you learned early this morning that the lions were now picking up Zadarius Smith? Oh, finally, you know, finally, because we know once Aiden went out and even before Aiden went out that, that, that other defensive end position, it was a hotspot. It was a hotspot during the all season for the lions. It was a hotspot going into training camp. It was a hotspot be like I said, before Aiden got hurt and it just really got magnified once he got hurt that we had to bring somebody in and I couldn't think of a better person that kind of fits the mold of what we built here in Detroit, what we are building here in Detroit. And he's a hungry guy ready to try to get to a Super Bowl. We're a hungry team trying to get to the first ever Super Bowl.

So it seems to be a match made in heaven. And Lions legend Lomas Brown is here with us on the JR Sport Brief Show. When you take a look at all of your years being a part of the organization and your latter years being away, but even now, is this the most optimistic that you've ever been about what the team is capable of doing?

Absolutely. And the reason why is because you can see this window open, I think for the next four or five years, because of the development and the way our young players, our first, second, third year guys have stepped up. This is kind of unbelievable how Brad Holmes has been spot on with the guys that he has brought here.

And these guys, like I say, they seem to fit right in with the culture that they've developed here. But these guys are ballers. When you talk about Jameer Gibbs, when you talk about Brian Branch, Sam Biporta, and you know, you talk about Terrion Arnold this year, and Enos Raikstra.

It's the list just goes on and on to Nasool, Ahmed Ra. Just the guys that he's brought in and we've brought in. These young guys have really stepped up. And that's why I say this window should be open the next four or five years for the Detroit Lions. Well Lomas, talk about the guy that was brought in to be quarterback, Jared Goff. Lions starting quarterback comes over, has never left California playing football in his life.

We thought that he was just being sent off to the Lions to wither away. This man is in competition for an MVP. What have you seen from him that's different than what we saw in Los Angeles? Which by the way, he did go to a Super Bowl there as well. Well, first of all, he's come to a place where the city has embraced him.

I mean, you can't go anywhere to any sporting event. Hell, you can't go to the grocery store and you might hear Jared Goff chants just break out. So the city has embraced him. And I know for any player, when you come to a new situation, that's the one thing that you hope is that the fans in the city embrace you.

And I think that's probably helped make that adjustment that Jared Goff has gone through a lot smoother. I mean, like you said, here's a California kid, California's whole life, he's sent to the Midwestern team that doesn't have a rich history of women, you know, and a team that basically, he was basically a throw-in. You know, if you look at the situation with Matthew Stafford going there, but yet and still he's come here and I know he feels his love and I know that Detroit is going to always hold a special part in his heart because like I said, the way the fans have embraced them, this community has embraced them. He's ours. He's ours. And we won't let nobody take him away from us and we're going to protect them. And that's what we have as an offensive line. That's what this team has done.

And yeah, man, it's looking great. The Lions legend, current broadcaster, Lomas Brown is here with us on the JR Sportbreeze show Coast to Coast. Lomas, you played the head coach of the Lions. Well, damn it, he played and it seems that his imprint is all over the team.

I don't know if there is another coach who would get out of this crew what Dan Campbell has. How important is he? He seems like the tip of the spear.

Yeah, he is the tip of that spear. And FYI, me and Dan played together in 2000, 2001. So he was a teammate of mine. And back then I was in my 15th, 16th year. He was just in the second year. Do you know it was something different about the guy? I couldn't have told you back then he would be a great coach.

But you know, it was something different about him, even young in his career. And, you know, I think who else deserves a lot of credit is that coaching staff. I mean, he's put together a phenomenal coaching staff. When you think about the coaching staff, we got nine, I think we got seven players on the team. Seven ex-cultures that are the coaches, these guys that played in the league. And when you got a coaching staff like that, when you got it full of ex-players, that gives the guys that are on the field, that sense of comfort that they know when they come off that field, if they struggling, they could go to a person that's been there, done that, that's said in the chairs that they sat there. So don't underestimate the surrounding staff, his support staff, how important they have been in the turnaround with this team and this organization.

Well, Lomas, we look at a team that's seven and one. Pretty much the largest negative thing that we've heard about the team is Aiden Hutchinson going down, Jamison Williams dealing with his own personal issues. What are some negatives? What are some spots that need to be fixed here with the Lions? Everything can't be rosy, right? Where's room for improvement? Yeah, there's always room for improvement. Any coach will tell you that even in wins, you know, they're going to find so many things. I think in wins, they find more to pick at you about than they do in losses.

You know, so they always strive and they execute better. And that's what we're going to have to do because, look, this season is still early. We're going to face some defenses just like we're on the roll right now. You got defensive coordinators that we have to face, that are sitting around, dividing waves of how to stop us. So we have to keep adjusting. We have to keep reinventing ourselves too. We have to be prepared for the unknown because that's the only way I think they're going to be able to stop us.

It's going to have to be some way that a DC just devised something because we're on the roll right now. So, you know, again, it's always points that you can point at and that you can always coach. And believe me, Dan Campbell and that staff, they're doing that because you can always perform a little better. You know that.

Lomas, we saw last season, the Detroit Lions getting real close to the Super Bowl, even throughout the course of the postseason. We know that he's going to be aggressive. There is no slowing that down. When you talk to the folks in the city, do people look and say, hey, let's be a little bit more conservative or they appreciative of what Dan is doing? You know what?

That's a great, great question, because it's almost kind of a lightning rod. You have some that thinks he's overly aggressive. And, you know, I think a lot of times there's no matter what you can do, what you do, you know, you're not going to please everybody. And that's Dan's coaching style. And to me, you have to be true to yourself.

All right. You have to be true to yourself. And that's who he is. And if he isn't true to himself, guys will see right through that.

So they, I think they love, they respect Dan because he's being true to himself. He's a guy he's going to go for it. He's going to put our team in the best position to win. And the best position that he thinks for this team to win is for him to be aggressive. And he's not going to change that. And I don't think we want him to change it. It's going to come with criticism because like I say, you can't please everybody.

So you going to get criticism, but as long as you stick to who you are and your identity, I think you'll be all right. Well, Lomas, we know that the lines of the cream of the crop right now in the NFC, the 49ers have been pretty busted up. They're trying to get healthy. NFC North is pretty competitive in and of itself. You know, the Packers are there, Vikings are still around. Is there a team that you look at and say, hey, the Lions got to watch out for this squad? To be honest with you, it's nobody that I favor over the Lions and the NFC.

I just don't. Maybe, maybe I'm a little jittery about the Philadelphia Eagles, but, but I mean, other than that, I mean, it's no team that I really fear the NFC. And I think if I talk about the whole NFL, maybe Baltimore, you know, but other than that, no, it's nobody that I fear because of the way that they're playing, the confidence that this team has right now, the way they've been executing right now. And I'm telling you, if we get home field advantage, if everything comes through Detroit with our home field advantage, Oh, look out, look out because our fans, everybody know about our fans. Now we don't hit secret.

They know how we like to travel, but they know how it is when you come into four fields and try to play a game, you go and hear it. So I think we're looking good right now. Hey, no more, no more jokes on Thanksgiving, man. I'm looking forward to the game Lomas. I'm looking forward to this one. Okay. Absolutely. Absolutely my brother.

No doubt about it. Well, I know you're busy. I appreciate the time.

Where can people follow and listen to you as you give the good word on these lines? You're a legend. Hey, I'm on X. I'm at Lomas Brown 75. You can follow me on X and I do the game.

See, I think it's Sirius XM that gets, you know, for the people nationally, Sirius XM game day. We'll be on myself, Dan Miller, and TJ Lang. So man, looking forward to calling the game and being right there in Houston on Sunday.

Hey Lomas, appreciate the time. We'll catch you on down the line. I guess as we get closer to the, I don't know, maybe the Superbowl, huh? I like that.

New Orleans. I like that. We were getting close. Hey Lomas, you be safe. We'll catch you on down the line. Okay. Okay. Take care.

Thanks. No doubt about that. That Lions legend.

Always a good chat. Won a Superbowl with the Bucks. You talked about that time that he played with the New York Giants on the offensive line. Dan Campbell was on that offense as well as a tight end.

Lomas Brown, always a pleasure to have him through and have a good old chat with him. I mean, realistically, he said the Eagles. I don't know if the Eagles go and turn things around. I think Nick Sirianni is likely to get a foot in the behind before they get back there. But the Eagles have now won four straight games. Yeah.

They like to give you a heart attack in the process of it. I'm still going to go with the 49ers. I think when it's all said and done, we might be looking at the 49ers and the Lions in the NFC title game. Let's see how aggressive Dan Campbell is again. It's the JR sport re-show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. 8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27.

That's 8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27. The college football playoff rankings, the first of this season. They have been revealed. We're going to talk about them on the other side of the break. You're listening to the JR sport brief.

It's the JR sport re-show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. Thank you so much to Lomas Brown for joining us. So the Detroit Lions legend and broadcaster and Super Bowl champ. Not with the Lions, of course, but thank you Lomas for coming through. He feels real strong. Feels real confident that these Lions that we, we going to see them in the Super Bowl. He's like, yeah, nobody else in the NFC scares me.

No, sorry. I don't blame them. Shout outs to Lomas.

If you missed any part of that conversation, go ahead and hit rewind on the free Odyssey app. 8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27. That's 8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27. We got the first rankings here. College football playoff rankings are officially out. You want to know your top four?

I got them for you right now. The ducks are number one. The Ohio state university is number two. Georgia bulldogs number three, Miami, the U undefeated at nine and all. They sit at number four, Texas at five, Penn state at six, Tennessee at seven, the Indiana under the undefeated Indiana at eight and BYU sitting here at nine, Notre Dame at 10, Alabama at 11 and Boise state sitting here at number 12.

A lot of people taking a look at, at what we have so far and they're going, well, what the hell is this? Why is the Ohio state university ahead of Georgia right now? Both teams sit at seven and one. If you think about the Buckeyes, that loss came to at the hands of Oregon. If you think about the Georgia bulldogs, their only loss came at the hands of Alabama and the college football chair, Ward manual, he talked about why they have the Ohio state ahead of the Bulldogs.

Listen to this. They both had great wins. Uh, in terms of on the road, Ohio state against Penn state this week, Georgia at Texas. But what we felt is in terms of the loss, the losses they had, Ohio state lost to number one, Oregon by one in Georgia loss at Alabama, which is ranked, who's ranked number 11. And so that was really the difference. I mean, the very, you know, we're splitting hairs in terms of looking at two great teams.

I think they are. They are splitting the hairs. It's not the only question that he had the answer. People take him a look at Indiana undefeated at nine and oh, and then you got BYU sitting here at eight and oh, people were asking Ward manual. He was asked on ESPN, why Indiana eight BYU nine? Two great teams. Like you said, I mean, Indiana, uh, their strength of schedule, uh, is not, uh, as strong as BYU's, but what Indiana has done on the field, uh, when we look at those games, uh, they're winning, uh, by double digits, averaging 33 points a game, uh, more than their opponents. Uh, they're solid on both sides, offensively and defensively. Uh, they're just a really, really great team. And so is BYU. And so, uh, as we contemplated, as we discussed, uh, as we looked at everything, uh, Indiana was, was ranked number eight by the committee and, and BYU is right behind them at nine. It's still crazy to me how after just one year, not even a full year, they get a new head coach in coming over from James Madison university, the worst color purple than anybody could wear in the country that Kurt Cignetti comes over and all of a sudden, boom, they're nine and oh, like this is hard that they were three and nine. Last year.

Welcome to, to NIL world and transfer portal world. Who would have thought though, who's just been bad for like the past five, six years. And for all of a sudden for them to turn things around, it's, uh, it's crazy that they're even in this, this conversation right now.

I don't think anybody would have expected this. We know when you take a look at the top quote unquote, power four schools, they end up with a top four spots. And then you take a look at the top four spots and then you take a look at number five.

It's who the hell has the next best out there. This is the first week it's early. A lot of questions are going to be had. I don't think there are any major surprises here. People are going to argue back and forth about who is where and what is ranked and who isn't. I don't think there's any major surprises here. Hickey, when you take a look at these top 12 teams, anything stand out to you? I don't, I'm not surprised at all.

I guess one that surprised me, that's not been talked about a lot, but I think is going under the radar. That's Miami. Why? Because they play in the ACC? They got, they're probably going to win it.

Not, well, sure. But like in terms of who, because you just, we heard there, we talked about, you heard strength of schedule as to why Indiana, they've been dominating everybody, but they're sitting there at eight. Well, you have Miami now at four, right? As one of the top teams in the, or excuse me, at three, they have them at three. And you look around and it's like, well, who is Miami beaten? Nobody. And well, are they blowing everybody out?

Well, no, they're not. They should have lost to Virginia Tech, bad officiating. Should have lost to Cal the next week, bad officiating. Now lucky to be at Louisville, they were down by, they were down by 11 to Duke last week at home. Well, they whooped that ass in the second half. I watched the game.

11 at home in the third quarter before they finally woke up and scored with our 50 points in a row. So it's just like you, like that's, I guess the, what frustrates me about the committee in general is the inconsistency they look at where a team like Indiana is punished sitting at eight, but a team like Miami is rewarded and sitting at three, despite the fact that you look at the resumes, they're really not, they're not comparable and Indiana's is better. Yeah, but that's, it's only a technicality because of the conference that they play in. I mean, that's it.

Am I missing something? That's the only reason why. Well, I mean, it's not like Indiana has played anybody.

I'm not going to try to sit here. The schedule is not much tougher, but to their credit, I mean, they've beaten everybody by two touchdowns, bare minimum. They're blowing everybody out.

They leave no doubt. And it feels like on a weekly basis, we're talking about Miami is, you know, walking the tight rope here and doing a high wire rack just to be able to stay undefeated in the loss column. And it's like, you know, or like Georgia, for example, Georgia is getting quote unquote, if you will, punished because of some of their sloppy play of late.

And that's why Ohio State has jumped them. So it's like, if you're going to apply, like if you're going to apply certain standards, you don't say, you know what, you got to win a certain way. You got to look a certain way, play certain teams. Fine, but apply that to everybody. Don't just apply it to certain teams here and other teams there and forget some of that. We'll use other criteria here. So have we found an error automatically that we should just eliminate the idea of winning a conference to get you at the top?

Should we just get that the hell up on out of here? No, I like that idea actually a lot because I think it incentivize you to still win your conference. Like now, like Oregon, Ohio State, that rematch, what looks like to be in the Big Ten title game, right?

It means a lot. Somebody gets a, yeah, somebody gets one less playoff game. Yeah.

So like one less chance to lose a easier path, you know, potentially. So like those games still have meaning, which I think you want to keep. If you're college football, I love this format.

I think it's great. I think it's just more frustration of just like if you're going to just be consistent. That's all I'm asking, Jar. Just be consistent with what you do with criteria.

We will never have consistency with committees. Like there's nothing, there's no perfect, like what is the perfect system? People don't like the BCS because a stupid computer winning, you know, calculated things. Well, you know, who gave the computer information to calculate? Human beings did it. And now you got a college football committee, a bunch of folks who sit in a room and try to figure this out.

Well, those are humans. And now they've expanded the field. Isn't this what everybody wanted? I personally had no problem sitting at four, as much as I was upset last year when the Bulldogs got screwed.

Then they did, you know, out of a spot in the playoff. I don't I don't care for the expansion. I think it adds to the excitement. Yes, but I was perfectly fine with four.

And then we're going to blink and they're going to move from 12 to 16. And so as long as the teams have a chance and an opportunity to go out there and win, what more can you ask for? Everybody got an expanded field, right? Isn't this the best case option and opportunity? Instead of just saying, hey, I'm on the top four, I'm screwed. I got to settle for some bowl game.

You can still go out there and compete. This is this is probably best case scenario without widening things some more. No. Oh, 100 percent. I agree.

100 percent. I hope this format stays. I think it's perfect in terms of how it's laid out, where you have still incentives at the top for, you know, every kind of level in terms of getting a buy, getting a home game, just making the playoff like there's still a lot of meaningful football to go. I think the format is tremendous. The committee who's on it, what they value, what they're actually watching, if they are watching, which is a different question. That's just more where the questions come from. It'll always be imperfect.

Human beings are involved. Nobody's perfect, right? Nobody. Do you expect Ward Manual, who is Michigan's A.D. to put up Indiana or push him up this week if Indiana lays a smackdown on the Wolverines? He don't. I mean, it's not in his hands. It's not his. It's not in his hands. He ain't making a decision. Not directly, but he is one of 13. Yeah.

What is his voice matter versus anybody else's? Nothing. It was more just a joke that did not really go go to. I'm just well, they took care of one Michigan team already and they should knock off the next one. That'd be fun, right? That's true. You own the state.

Turn it red. I am. I am here for all of the. Well, not so much the Spartans. Don't don't care one way or the other.

I'm here for the Michigan beatdown. So I'm here after last year. You had enough. Yeah. What? Winning? Yeah.

Or just in general? I think in general, I was turned off so much with all the hardball in hardball. He was doing a hardball in a hardball out for the past couple of years. And they were getting ready to kick him out in any one or even before he won. He's like, I'm gonna go back to the NFL. And he's like, no, I'm not because they don't want me. And then he was just in and out and in and out.

And then he's cheating and buying cheeseburgers and hamburgers and and violating rules. I'm done with Michigan. You know, all the teams between Michigan and Alabama, I'm sick of Mickey, Michigan, more so than Alabama.

And I say, wow, yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, I don't think Alabama's good. What are the odds that Michigan wasn't winning anything? What are the odds that that Alabama is going to go on a Saban streak like that again? Unlikely, right? Very unlikely. Yeah. So they've already been beaten down. Just leave Michigan down. It's nice to watch them kind of flop around and fail. I'm here for that. 855-212-4227.

It's 855-212-4227. College football playoff. Top 12 rankings out. Oregon at number one. Ohio State at two. Georgia at three. Miami at four. We're going to talk more about this on the other side of the break. And then a team that's not here. Well, I'm going to tell you about a team in Los Angeles County. They just benched their QB. It's the JR Sportbree show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network.
