It is the JR Sport Brief Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. I'm coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia. Thank you to everybody tuned in and locked in all over North America. Happy Thursday to you. If you're down with it, Happy Halloween. Good for you. Have fun. Wear an outfit. Get some candy and do some things. Good. I'll be hanging out with you for the next three hours.
I might be in Atlanta, Georgia. Thank you so much to our super producer and host Ryan Hickey. He is holding it down for us in New York City. Good stuff. Hey, thank you to our buddy Chris helping out tonight as well.
Thank you, Chris. We'll be here with you for the next three hours. As I said, this show gets started every weekday at 6 p.m. Eastern, 3 Pacific. You can always listen on the free Odyssey app, your local Infinity Sports Network affiliate, the Sirius XM Channel 158. And if you got a smart speaker, ask the speaker to play the Infinity Sports Network. We're going to talk about Thursday Night Football in a minute.
We got the Houston Texans in New Jersey taking on the New York Jets. We talked about the Dodgers winning their eighth World Series, the choking of Aaron Judge, Micah Parsons podcasting and not playing. Hey, if you're hurt, you got to do something, right?
Goals, what are those? You know, Bleacher Report is paying me an extra, I don't know, quarter million dollars and I don't know, three hundred thousand dollars to do a podcast. Why not? Who cares about my ankle? Who cares about the Cowboys? I'll do the podcast. Priorities, people.
Priorities. Anyway, coming through in another 20 minutes. We're going to have a chat with Tim Nevret. This is the Dodgers radio play by play voice. Come through and ask him about these Dodgers, what the team has done, what they've battled through, all of the injuries.
Come out on top, winning their first World Series since the bubble in 2020. Tim Nevret is going to join us in 20 minutes. If you want to be a part of the show, you can. You can call me up. The phone number here is 855-212-4227.
That's 855-212-4227. It doesn't matter where you live or what you're doing. I'm here. You can also find me online at JR Sport. So much more to get into as the show continues on. We're going to talk plenty of Dodgers and what happens next for Juan Soto now that he's a free agent. The Braves have already started trading now that the World Series is over. We got a an NBA player who never plays. He might be playing this weekend and Joel Embiid.
And so a lot to get into. But let's get into something that's going to take place almost exactly an hour from now. That's kickoff between the Houston Texans and the New York Jets. These are two teams going in opposite directions. The New York Jets wish that they had what the Texans have. And that's a quarterback in CJ Stroud. And it's not just a quarterback. It's a young quarterback. It's a young quarterback who has not peaked. It's a young quarterback who's on the up and up.
It's CJ Stroud, Offensive Rookie of the Year from last season. Eleven touchdowns to four interceptions. Two thousand yards passing, leading a six and two team.
This is a young six and two team. People want to talk about the offense, but take a look at the defense for the Houston Texans. They are third in sacks, led by another guy who got drafted last year by the Texans.
His name is Will Anderson. This man has seven and a half sacks. If you want to find something wrong with the Texans, it can be youth.
Experience is the greatest teacher. Think about some of these other younger teams or now older teams that haven't kind of burst through that glass ceiling. Teams like the Baltimore Ravens, teams like the Buffalo Bills.
Well, the Texans are that next rung over until they knock one of those squads off. The bad thing about the Texans also right now, the injuries, the injuries to their wide receivers. Stephon Diggs done seventh in the NFL and targets and then also receptions. He has a torn ACL. You will not see Stephon Diggs the rest of this season. He's also a free agent. He has to think about what his future or where his future lies when he gets his leg together. And then you also have Nico Collins, who's been on injured reserve with a hamstring injury.
You ask on a lot of Tank Della come through and show up. This is a team that's just being being punished right now. But D'Mico writes, he looks at his wide receiver room and he says, we good. We like the guys we have and our guys have been here. They've been working, understand how we do things, what we do.
So we're excited to see who steps up next. Yeah, come on. What is a head coach of a team supposed to say? Our guys suck. We can't get the job done. You can't say that.
Can't do that. You got to rely on Tank Della. And they got these older guys there too. Robert Woods is there, older. Dalton Schultz is there, tight end.
He's okay. But you can best believe they're going to be relying on the run game a while, wouldn't you? Joe Mixon, adding him to the fold. This man is averaging 100 rushing yards a game. In the last three games, they are handing this man the football and he is going and he is moving. And so CJ Stroud, whether he's throwing the ball and handing it off, he feels confident in what they can do the rest of the year. Matter of fact, this is the last day of October and he's like, man, we got to end tonight on a high.
Coming into the two hardest months of balls, you know, November and December, you know, we get to in October on a prime time game and, you know, it's going to be a great matchup against the Jets and, you know, we got to be able to be ready and try to finish October the right way. Man, Hickey, tell that quarterback to sound a little bit more assertive. I know he's talking to the media. He's not in a huddle, but damn, did they just wake him up from a nap to do the press conference?
I think he's too soft spoken. Is that why he's not taking the jump yet? No, no, I think he's the jump where? To the next level, that elite level. Second year.
How many guys are killing it in their second year? Maybe he'd be better if he had a deeper voice, more command. Oh, ouch.
Ouch. He has been sacked a lot. You know, he's been sacked the third amount of times in any quarterback in the league. Maybe if he yelled at his offensive line, you think they get their act together? Maybe he started pulling Aaron Rodgers and maybe, you know, throwing some guys under the bus, maybe they'll block Carter for him. Oh, my God. I've never heard another quarterback so far this year.
Just publicly tell everybody, hey, this guy screwed up. It's still only Aaron Rodgers, the guy who's currently a loser on a losing team, 2-6. CJ Stroud, happy that he's not a loser.
His record is 6-2, even though his wide receivers are now dropping like flies. CJ Stroud said, even kind of like what Hickey just said, we can still get better. The goal we had was to start fast. And, you know, I believe that, you know, we've been putting on some good ball, but we have a lot to still clean up. You know, it's just exciting times. Hickey, he was like playing video games in the basement or something. And they pulled him out of that for this press conference, you think? Well, hey, hey, man, come out the what? Come out of the basement.
We need you. No, that'd be Colin Murray. I'm sorry. That'd be Colin Murray. What did he get a Call of Duty deal? Is that what he has now? That's right.
Makes sense. It's like, hey, we're going to put this in your contract that you need to study and not play video games. The more you study, the more we pay you. And he can study less. And he's getting the money on the back end. Hickey, how about that?
Modern day hustler, Call of Duty, whoever makes that video game, they're paying him, they're paying him more than what the team would pay him to study. Ain't that something? That's, isn't that kind of bad? That is. When you put it that way, that's really bad, right?
That's so bad. What lesson does that, maybe not him, but what lesson does that teach in life? It's like, it's like your parents punish you for doing something and then somebody on the outside says, hey, come keep doing that bad thing. I'm gonna pay you for it.
I'm gonna give you more money than your parents would give you an allowance, you know? And stop all that hacking on that computer. And then some hacker pays them to hack.
It's just, what a world. Anyway, it sounds like something Aaron Rodgers will be doing another year, sitting in a dark room on a laptop, probably in the, what is it, the black web? Is that what they call it? The dark web, right?
The dark web. Is Aaron Rodgers allowed on the black web? I don't know. Is he? I don't know. It doesn't sound like it.
If that exists, it does not sound like he'd be accepted. This man was talking about the being in the darkness with the New York Jets. Why the hell not? And then the Jets are really in the darkness. Oh my God. They lost to the Patriots this week, 25 to 22. Aaron Rodgers is like, I've been to the darkness.
You have to be comfortable with it. Hassan Reddick just showed up to the New York Jets. Welcome to the darkness. Devante Adams wanted to be traded to the Jets. Welcome to the darkness.
This is just hilarious. The Jets are at home. They got a great pass defense. The defense is still as an overall unit taking a hit since Rob Salah got fired. They should have never did it. Thinking that that was going to spark them to turn things around.
That didn't happen. And it's just bad all the way. Let's listen to the great Aaron Rodgers. He had a message for all of the New York Jets fan. I am a New York Jets fan. I'm very eager to hear what message Aaron Rodgers has for me. Let me hear it. Smile, show up, trust, believe, root us on as hard as you can. We need that noise. And we're trying to rectify this as quickly as possible.
I know it's been frustrating for everybody, but still a lot of season left. Smile. Did he say, he says get dressed? Smile and show up.
Be loud. Oh, smile. I thought he said get dressed like for Halloween or something. I don't know.
He walked into the stadium not dressed up, which probably is the right move. Hasn't he dressed up for Halloween in the past like Nicolas Cage or am I just bugging? I don't know. He does not seem like the person that would do that, but maybe I can't remember.
I don't know. What's this guy's name? Aaron Rodgers, Halloween. I think Nicolas Cage would, and he kind of looks like him. I thought he was from that movie Air Air something. Con Air. He was Aaron Rodgers, Halloween.
Let's see. Oh, he came, he dressed up as, he's on Halloween. He was Keanu Reeves. What's that movie where he's a killer? He's Wick? John Wick. John Wick.
Okay. Oh my God. People have jokes about Aaron Rodgers, Halloween costumes. You can go, Hey, if you want to dress as Aaron Rodgers for Halloween, here's the description. Guy who is part of the problem, but won't admit it.
There's another one. Aaron Rodgers costume, New York Jets uniform blames everyone. Fire coaches lose game.
What does this one say? Fire coaches lose games. Former Packers players included for free. Oh my God. Wow. Yeah. You can be Aaron Rodgers for Halloween.
It's quite the description here. Even, even the good folks at SNY Sportsnet New York. Jets deliver tricks, no treats. Scary times for Aaron Rodgers and the team. Everybody has their Halloween puns all set and ready. You know, I wouldn't be surprised if the New York Jets win this game. Uh, Hickey will not be surprised by this. Hickey, I would love for them to lose again. Go down.
You gotta go down hard. Come on. Would it be more enjoyable for you to see them lose like on a last second field goal to blow a big lead or just to get blown out?
Like if you want to just have some pain, what do you want to see here? I want to see them get blown out. So they boo everybody.
Okay. I want to see Aaron Rodgers miserable on the sidelines. Like no one in the stadium by like the start of the fourth quarter. It's that bad. Oh yeah. They're booing him in the third and then people are leaving in the fourth to get home and it's just booze raining down on him. Two and seven record. Welcome to New York.
Welcome. I mean, if you're going to go down, go down, right? The bad thing is the New York Jets, they're not bad enough to be the worst. They're not the Carolina Panthers out here, you know, disappointing. So I'm already rooting for the tank.
I guess, I guess you could say I'm early for that. I am rooting for the tank. I hope CJ Stroud and them light them up. Hickey, I'm going to feel better about the Jets. I'm a root for them more when, when Aaron Rodgers is gone.
Big question is when? He's got one more year left Adil. I wish they had a CJ Stroud, but they're stuck with this old guy. This dude is, can't even move for some reason.
Just say again, Hickey. I was going to say maybe for you, you can get your own CJ Stroud and Arch Manning two years. If Aaron Rodgers comes back next year, they stink again. And you're sitting there at number one in 2026. If you think about the New York Jets over just the past 25 years, when they've had any hope or chance of success, they thrown it on the shoulders of an old ass quarterback.
Okay. Vinny Testaverde, big expectations. Jets are going to compete for a Super Bowl. Vinny Testaverde blew out his Achilles. Last year, Aaron Rodgers, big expectations for him. This man blew out his Achilles. Oh my God, the New York Jets got Brett Favre.
We can finally do something. And Brett Favre, well, well, he blew out his whole body and decided to take, you know, dirty photos and send them to people. Okay. That, that, that's what the New York Jets get. Let's bring in a veteran quarterback and then still suck. Let's just get this one over with. Okay. And Jeff Ulbricht, the interim head coach of the New York Jets whose defense has now hit the skids. Jeff Ulbricht believes in the offense. Okay.
All right. I feel like there's parts of the offense that have improved, you know, I felt like the run game is, especially the last two or three weeks is, is better. I still got a long way to go for sure. I feel like protection has been better.
I feel like there's been a lot of things improved. Or where we need to be. Absolutely not. But, uh, I think the trajectory is in the right direction. I'm taking the Jets as much as I want them to lose. I think they'll win at home. I think they'll win this one at home. I got the Jets at home, but I'll be rooting for the Texans.
Oh, well. And root for a winning team. Why not? Not the Jets. They're a bunch of losers.
Even if they win tonight, that record would be three and six losers. It's the JR sport b show here with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network. When we come back on the other side of the break, it's time to have a chat with a winner. Someone who covers a winner, the world series champion winners, Tim, never is going to join us. He covers the Dodgers. He calls the Dodgers on the radio. He's there play by play man. We'll have a chat with him about what this team has done, what they accomplished, what's to come over the next 24 hours.
They got a parade and so much more. You're locked in. It's the JR sport brief show on the infinity sports network. You're listening to the JR sport brief. It's the JR sport b show here with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network. Man, the Los Angeles Dodgers already back in LA getting ready for their parade tomorrow. Eight time champs, the seven time champs representing Los Angeles. Someone who's covered this team from beginning to end, has seen the injuries, some of the personal issues and in the season that culminated in the title is their play by play man. He covers these Dodgers all season long on Dodgers radio.
Joining us right now in the JR sport brief show is Tim Nevers. Tim, how are you, man? Thank you. I'm great. Thanks, sir. Good to be on with you today.
I appreciate it. Well, I know it's been a busy 24 hours, especially keeping up with these Dodgers. How has everybody kind of taken in this team and what they've accomplished besides what we saw downtown?
Yeah, that's not, it depends what you saw downtown. But yeah, I think all in all, except for burning a bus, anytime that a team wins in any market, it's always great for the city, great for all the fans. I think that this is going to be an incredible day tomorrow for the parade because they haven't had a parade for the Dodgers here since 1988.
Couldn't have one in 2020 because of the pandemic. So a lot of folks that want to get out tomorrow, they're going to line the streets of downtown LA. And there's two events, there's a parade. And then right after the parade, there is an event at the stadium where the players will all be shuttled back to the stadium. And there's a planned event there. And that sold out today in about a half an hour. So I'm expecting 50,000 plus at Dodger Stadium for that event tomorrow after the parade, which could draw who knows how many.
But it's going to be a wild day in LA tomorrow, that's for sure. Dodgers radio voice Tim Nevers is here with us. When you look at the team at the beginning of the year and how they perform throughout the course of the season, specifically of the pitching, it looked like that was going to be a touch point that might prevent them from winning the World Series. But as they got tighter down the stretch, that became a strength. Fill us in from the trade deadlines, all of these relievers. How did the tide turn on the Dodgers pitching? I think going, you know, beginning of the season, they were thinking the pitching was going to be the strong point, but then injuries set in. They were expecting to get some guys back like Tony Gonsolin, who was an All-Star a couple of years ago, and Dustin May, who's, you know, he's just got some incredible stuff. But they both were sidelined and not able to come back.
Tony Gonsolin got close, but just wasn't ready. Dustin May had a problem with his esophagus of all things after he was getting ready to pitch and he couldn't, he had to be shut down for the season. And, you know, Clayton Kershaw got hurt. Of course, they weren't able to have Shohei Ohtani pitch at all this year.
That was never in the plan to begin with. Walker Bueller was coming off injury and, you know, there was kind of a wildcard situation there with him. Didn't know what they'd get out of him.
You know, goes on and on. There's a list of relievers who had injuries. So, you know, nobody's crying for the Dodgers, right?
Because every team has injuries and you got to work around them. But I give the staff, I give the manager, Dave Roberts, a heck of a lot of credit. It's not easy to have to navigate, you know, around the pitching situation. And, you know, for a while things looked pretty good on the pitching front, then they went out and got Jack Flaherty at the deadline. He helped out quite a bit, although he didn't have a good game last night.
He just didn't have his stuff. And the Dodgers had to basically use another bullpen game to win the World Series to take game five last night. But, you know, pitching is, pitching's everything when it comes to Major League Baseball. If you want to win, it's all about pitching.
And, you know, the Dodgers have a lot of it, but a lot of it was on the shelf. You know, Tyler Glasnau, that's another name I forgot to mention. You know, Glasnau was expected to lead this staff.
He was going to be the ace of the staff, but injury sidelined him, so they didn't have his services either. Yeah, well, maybe one day he'll pitch more than, I don't know, 100 innings. Maybe we'll see. Yeah, we'll see. I mean, he did pitch more this year than he ever had, but he's still got hurt.
That's the name of the game on four. He needs to stop wearing those hot socks. Maybe things will change for him into the future. Tim Nevret is here with us. Voice of the Dodgers does all their play-by-play. You've seen Shohei Ohtani all year, and I know he played for the other team down the road before he went further north. We all know how great he is, how good he is. Is there any part of his game that you looked at and said, well, damn, this guy's really special? Well, every part of his game, you know, you think he's special, and we haven't seen him pitch for the Dodgers yet. We've seen him pitch for the Angels, and we know how good he is.
Guy's already won two MVPs, and he's going to get another one here this year. So he's a remarkable talent. Just from the offensive side, teams punch and he counter punches, and then they counter punch and he punches back. So it just depends on how they game plan them. Sometimes they figure, okay, he's swinging up and in. They'll go up and in, but eventually he finds a way to close that hole and turn on it and hit a ball 450 feet. His base running is something else. I can only think of maybe one, two base running errors all year, but the fact is he covers a ton of ground.
In fact, I heard one player say that you know that Otani's rounding second base, you don't have to look because it sounds like a horse galloping around the track. I think he's in a lineup where hitting lead off is good because he gets that last at bat late in the game that can help you win a game. Here in the World Series, he struggled because he had the dislocated shoulder. I think if it was the regular season, he probably wouldn't even play it, but just having him in the lineup was still a threat. This year heading into 2025, we get to see him pitch. We saw him rehabbing all season, throwing in the outfield, throwing in the bullpen. He's going to be ready to go for 2025 and be a two-way player again, but he is a special talent. Nobody's ever seen anybody have a 50-50 year. When he gets hot, it's something to behold.
It really is. He's a sensational talent, maybe the best we've seen. Well, Tim, you talk about all the talent that the Dodgers have from Freddie Freeman who just won MVP and you think about the money bestowed upon Yamamoto and Mookie Betts and we can go on and on. Is there a real possibility that the Dodgers spend even more money in the offseason? They're deferring so much. What could this team look like next year?
Any big additions or subtractions? Well, I guess they want to have the parade first, but yeah, there's got to be. I mean, you know, Daniel Hudson, the reliever, announced his retirement after the game last night. Kevin Kiermaier announced his retirement before the season was over, so we know those two guys will be gone. There are guys whose contracts expire.
We don't know who's going to be back and who won't. I would think that they would look at free agents as well as anybody. As good as things have gone, or as well as things have gone, I should say, every team, including the Dodgers, still looks to try to improve. I know my guess is they'll be in the thick of the free agent market, whatever they think they might need.
Obviously, pitching is the main thing. They went and got some pitching to the trade market, getting Michael Kopec and, again, Jack Flary. Those guys were big additions. Of course, Tommy Edmond, the addition of him, he'll be back again.
He's got years on his deal. I just think they're going to be like everybody else. They're going to get in the thick of it. I know there was a report that they're interested in Juan Soto, but who isn't? Whether they get him or not, who knows? Whether they go out and get another frontline starting pitcher, who knows? Clayton Kershaw is going to be back for the last year of his contract.
Who knows? It's probably going to be the last year of his career, you'd have to guess. He's got one more year, and he's going to try to pitch another year. All the other guys that are hurt, they're going to get them all healthy and ready to go. It should be another good year for the Dodgers coming up, but the offseason does start today for a lot of teams.
Well, for every team, but some teams are busier than others right away. I know the Angels and Braves made a trade already. So yeah, we'll see what happens. I mean, this is kind of a thing where I think the ball club is going to sit back and kind of enjoy what's happening for the next few days in the front office.
I'm sure they have their targets and they'll get to work. It's Tim Nevret, Dodgers radio play-by-play voice here with us on the JR Sportbreeze show Coast to Coast. It was a big deal when Freddie Freeman left here in Atlanta to go out to Los Angeles. So much about how he didn't want to leave, but the deal didn't come and what have you. It's been a few years now. And unfortunately, Freddie has had to deal with issues at home.
God bless him and his family for being able to come through that and be better. How has he been kind of accepted by the organization and the fans, especially given what he just did? It doesn't hurt. Oh, they love them. I mean, they have since they got there.
I mean, they embrace them. They chant Freddie, Freddie all the time, even on the road. There's such big groups of Dodger fans on the road. They chant his name during regular season games.
It doesn't matter where we are. He's a fan favorite and that's before he won World Series MVP. The guy can play. He's been playing on a bad ankle. And what people don't know is that he injured a ligament in one of his ribs and nobody said anything about it. So he's playing just sore. I think most players would have sat down by now and not played, but he was just like, nope, not going to do it. I'm going to get out there and play, do my best. How often do you get a chance to do this?
You never know when your next chance is ever going to be. So I give him a lot of credit. A lot of players banged up and they played through it in the postseason, but Freddie was particularly banged up. Fortunately, his young son is improving and getting better. They're a very present family at the ballpark. His oldest son, Charlie, is with him all the time. We watch him shag fly balls and take BP.
It's just kind of fun. He's a good family guy. He's just a regular good guy.
What you see is what you get with Freddie Freeman. He's just a solid citizen. Well, Tim, you talk about how he is beloved by the Dodgers organization and the fans. Are people going to leave Dave Roberts alone for a year? Can he get a little bit of a break now?
Yeah, he'll get at least a week off here. He gets it. He knows it comes with the territory, right?
He knows that that's part of the deal. You're the manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers. You're going to take heat when you lose a game and you don't get much credit when you win. But I think if you really watched what he did throughout the postseason, and look at last night, right? I thought he put on a masterclass in managing a ball club to success. The other things that he does on a daily basis that people don't see, that a lot of fans don't see, the way that he communicates with his players, the way that his players respond to him, the way that he communicates with the press. I mean, he's a liaison between the ball club and the fans. And he meets with the press a couple of times a day. He's got relationships that he's built there. He really knows what he's doing, manages his coaches well.
No one's looking around going, what are we doing today? What did he say? Everybody's clear on instructions. So I think what people don't see, all the behind the scenes stuff that goes with being a good manager, Dave does it all. He gets it. And I think last night, and this is not hyperbole, I think this is truth. Last night, he took another big step toward the Hall of Fame. Wow.
I agree with you there, Tim. Tim Nevert is joining us. Dodgers, radio broadcaster. Tomorrow is a bittersweet day because not only is the parade being held for the Dodgers championship, this would have been Fernando Valenzuela's 63rd birthday. I know Fernando is someone that you're very familiar with and in many interactions.
How have you been able to kind of take and absorb this on both ends, such that the positive for tomorrow, but then also the remembrance? Yeah, I mean, I've known Fernando a long time, and we worked one booth apart. He was in the Spanish booth, I was in the English booth, and I would see him very often. And we would talk a lot and have dinner a bunch. You know, when he pulled himself off the air and stepped away from the booth, and he's a really private guy, so we weren't really sure what was happening at the time.
And then I got notified that there was something going to happen, probably, and then 48 hours later, he was gone. And I think it kind of hit me, and probably hit a lot of us then, that this was such a huge loss, you know, for not only the organization, but for baseball as a whole, and for the city of Los Angeles, for what he represented in 1981. You know, you look at the Dodger fan base, I mean, 50% Latino fan base, right? I mean, and that's largely because of Fernando Valenzuela and Fernando Mena in 81, because, you know, a large swath of the Latino population wasn't going to Dodger games, you know, up until that time. But when Fernando was there, they did, they filled the place. And it was everywhere he pitched on the road, too. So I think when you look at Fernando, the loss is enormous.
We're going to feel it tomorrow, for sure. There's a new mural going up in Los Angeles in the Boyle Heights section to honor Fernando. And that was actually planned before the artists knew that Fernando was sick.
But it's almost completed now, they're going to dedicate it on Sunday. But he is just, you know, he's just an icon. And he'll always be a huge part of not only Dodger history, but baseball history, and, you know, and social history here in Los Angeles. Hey, Tim, I want to thank you for sharing your experience, your time with Fernando, I want to thank you for coming through and bringing your expertise on how the Dodgers got to this point in the season where they're now World Series champs. Where can people follow you and keep up with you online?
Just pretty much all the basic social media outlets at Tim Everett. We're there and that's probably the easiest way to to follow and see what we got going on. But, you know, we're we're looking forward to the parade tomorrow and you don't get too many of these. So it's going to be special, I'm pretty sure.
No doubt about that. Tim, they making you work tomorrow? You got to work hard? No, I just go watch. Beautiful, beautiful.
I didn't know, you know, hey, Tim, get behind the mic. We need you for a minute. So good. You enjoy as well. Yeah, I'm just going to, you know, we don't have to do anything. I'm told the parade is just for the players in front office.
I was told the broadcasters, I don't think, are being included. So we just watch and enjoy it and enjoy the ride and get ready for the opening game in Tokyo against the Cubs in one hundred and thirty eight days. Hey, good on you. Don't don't hit the fast forward button too much. Tim, thank you again for the time. All right. Thank you. No doubt about it. That's him.
Never radio voice for the Dodgers handles all of their play by play. And he got that parade rolling through downtown that that little area where they're going to run little 6th Street, 5th Street. I actually like it over there.
I do. A little further over. Don't ask me.
I'm not going. It's the J.R. Sport Brief Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. And thank you again to Tim. We're going to take a break when we come back on the other side. Hey, there's another injury of football or at least this guy is no longer injured. I'm going to tell you who it is on the other side of the break. It's another quarterback.
I think you'll be fine. I'll tell you who it is. You're listening to the J.R.
Sport Brief. Thank you so much. Now, I can't I can't even wear a hat.
It won't fit. Too much here. Thank you so much. Dodgers play by play voice Tim Neveret for joining us in the last break. Thank you so much.
That's that's great. Dodgers going to have their parade tomorrow. Also going to show a lot of love to Fernando Valenzuela. Would have been 63 years old tomorrow. Just just a mixed bag of emotions.
I never met Fernando. But from everything that you see and hear, I do know quite a few people on the radio side who have worked with him, who miss him dearly. And it just shows you how impactful he was to the people that knew him and then just to the community.
And so all the best to his family and much love to them. And then for the Dodger fans, enjoy yourselves tomorrow, please. Just don't go overboard. We had enough buses on fire, enough looting and robberies and arrests yesterday. Let's let's keep things on the up and up tomorrow.
You know what? I might as well tell you about the Dependable Player of the Week. It's sponsored by Depend and the Prostate Cancer Foundation, reminding you that health is a long game and screening for prostate cancer is easier than ever.
You can learn more at Depend.com. Of course, it's Freddie Freeman. This man was beyond dependable. The World Series MVP.
He got it. He homed in a record six consecutive World Series games. That goes back to his time as a member of the Atlanta Braves.
He finished the postseason with four home runs, 13 RBIs to win his second career World Series. That's big time. And we see the injuries that he had to battle through and dealing with that foot. Tim Nevert, who just joined us, Dodgers radio play by play voice, he said he also had an issue with his cartilage.
And man, we don't see what what professional athletes go through a lot of times just to prepare to play. You just have to just go, damn, man. And the first thing that comes to my mind is, oh, they just just gave him a needle. Your ribs are bothering you. Well, let's just give you a needle. You want to tell me that Shohei Ohtani running around, they popped this man's shoulder out or his shoulder popped out.
They popped it back in. But you want to tell me that Shohei Ohtani just didn't get a needle and just give this man a needle to fix things? Damn. Yeah. Hickey, we talked about poor Tyra Taylor getting a needle into the lung.
Goodness gracious. Have you ever you've never had one of those needles, right? Never known body needles?
No, thank God. I am very afraid of needles. So that would not go well. What do you do when it's time to get your blood drawn? You spit it out like what do you do? I look away. Oh, and I try not to think about as much as I can, but it freaks me out. You know, it drives me nuts. You go to the doctor. Hickey, one time I went to the doctor. Nurse sat me up.
I don't know why they need to. I'm not a I'm not a nurse. What do I know?
Maybe I should ask when I know enough. They sat me on like a hot an adult high chair. It was elevated off the ground. Does that sound familiar? It wasn't like it wasn't the table. Is it? No, no, bro. I have I've had so much blood drawn out of my body so many times.
I don't even know. But yeah, I've sat down in a chair. But the last time I went to a doctor, I sat in an elevated chair like a step up off the ground, a little higher up. And and man, they put the initial needle in.
Right. I'm like, OK, fine. And I'm sitting there and then she comes.
This was for an insurance exam, Hickey. So maybe they really wanted to make sure I wasn't going to die the next day. She came back and she snapped off a piece and then she put another vial on there. And I had to go, what are you doing? And then and I feel like she left and she came back and then she put another vial on. And I'm like, how much blood are you sucking from me? Right.
What are you doing right now? Then I just get like the chills thinking about that. That is my worst nightmare. No, but she's a nightmare. No, but she she left the needle in.
Oh, that's what I'm saying. Oh, my God. The needle is left in. But she just put another to collect more blood. She kept coming back and back and back.
And I'm like, yo, what are we doing here? Oh, can I have my blood? I need it. I know it regenerates how fast. I don't know, but I need it. I need my blood.
You found out that day how fast it regenerates. I wasn't lightheaded or not. Maybe I don't need no blood. Maybe I'm a weirdo.
I don't know. Maybe you're a vampire. No, vampires need blood. So you'd be the opposite of a vampire vampire. They need blood.
That's why they suck the blood. Right. Right. Yeah. Not a vampire.
I might be a leech, not a vampire. Well, that's the same thing, right? Same thing. Yeah. Need blood. Never had one of those things either.
Never want to find. I don't think I've ever seen one where they just in lakes, only in lakes. Right. So, yeah, fresh water. Right.
Rivers maybe as well. I don't I ain't getting in those lake. No, not a lake guy. I'm going to the beach. I'm going to the beach. I ain't going to no lake. Shout out to everybody at the lake.
Not me. I'm going to the beach. Nice, nice sand. Speaking of bloodsuckers, Hickey, help me out with a transition here. Can we find one?
That was that was good. Come on. I'm trying to think of a bloodsucker. There's no analogy in sports. Aaron Rodgers is sucking the life out of who? Nobody. No. Well, Jets fans. Yes, he is. Not him.
Yeah. He stinks. Team stinks. They're getting ready. Hey, they get ready to play Thursday Night Football.
What place is going to be a morgue tonight? You think? No, I think they're going to show up. You think two and six?
This is supposed to be the year. It's Thursday Night Football. Fans got tickets.
They're going to go. It's Halloween. Would you rather go to a Halloween party or go to watch this Jets game?
Both are scary, right? Very. I'm surprised they got the Amazon show here.
Nobody on Amazon. They didn't they didn't wear outfits. You know, no Halloween stuff for Richard Sherman and Andrew Whitworth.
What are we doing? Very professional, I guess. Well, OK. If this was Monday Night Football, Jason Kelsey would be out there dressed as like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man or something. Amazon broadcast is boring. I can't hear it, but I can see it.
It's boring. Wait until they start showing the New York Jet people in outfits in the stands. That'll be the real fun hickey.
Finding the New York Jet freaks. What is Fireman Ed going to be dressed as? An invisible chair. He won't be there. Oh, he's not. He quit. He quit. I don't think I think he will be there. But when he was surprised, I would not be surprised he quit. He was complaining about not getting FaceTime at the game.
Like he's like he's the leader of the fan. Man, get a job, bro. Aren't you a retired firefighter? You got a pension. Just sit your ass down.
No, hang out on a beach. Relax. It's the J.R. Sportbree show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. We're going to take a break. When we come back on the other side, we're going to talk some football and then we're going to talk about free agency for Juan Soto. Don't move. He's going to get paid.
