It is the JR Sportbrief Show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. I'm coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia. Much love and many thanks to everybody tuned in and locked in all over North America. This show gets started every single weekday at 6pm Eastern, 3 Pacific. You can always listen live on the free Odyssey app.

You can hit rewind too, missed anything. You can always listen on your local Infinity Sports Network affiliate, Sirius XM Channel 158. If you got a smart speaker, ask the speaker to play the Infinity Sports Network. I'll be hanging out with you for one more hour. It's been a busy, busy show.

How about this? We got a doubleheader on Monday Night Football right now, this minute, this second. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, they lead the Ravens 10 to 7. Mike Evans with a touchdown. Mark Andrews with a touchdown. And then we just saw Mike Evans, another attempted touchdown, gets tangled up on the way down in the end zone, grasps his leg. Is he, we don't even know. Is it a knee? His shoe was off? We're going to find out and see what's going on with Mike Evans.

We'll give you that detail, that update once we have it. Meanwhile, we have another Monday Night Football game getting ready to kick off the Chargers and the Cards. It's been a busy day in the NFL, so many injuries. Brandon Iuch now out for the season, it's official with a torn ACL.

You think about the 49ers' other weapon. We learned a few hours ago while you were right here on the air that we got an injury to somebody else, too, on the Niners. Deebo Samuel has pneumonia. He has fluid in his lungs. George Kittle has an issue. George Kittle has a sprained foot. And speaking of a sprain, we don't know what the deal is. Mike Evans is walking off the field under his own power, but not able to really put weight on his right leg. It's like he got dragged down, might be an ankle, might be a foot, as his leg got twisted up badly as he went to the ground. So we'll see if the Tampa Bay Buccaneers see Mike Evans again this game.

I would be shocked if he makes the return. Hickey, that didn't look good. It looked like maybe a sprained ankle the wrong way.

The wrong way, the front way, right? That or he did when he went to the ground, did grab his hamstring? He did, yeah. So, I mean, I hope it didn't pop, but I mean, that's one where, whether it's the hamstring or the ankle, it did not look very good. And he looked like he was in a ton of pain. Oh, absolutely.

Well, I give, I think a little bit better. The fact that he was able to walk off the field under his own power, I think that says a lot. We'll see. We know it's his leg.

We know it's his right leg as he was favoring it. We'll see what he does as they are trying to punch in another touchdown here for, against a Ravens defense, which is not as efficient, not as good as it was last year. So we'll keep you up to date with all of the Monday Night Football action while we're here on the air. Definitely, we'll give you an update on Mike Evans once they decide to, or not decide, once they have an update to share. If you want to be a part of the show in any way, you can call up. The phone number here is 855-212-4227.

That's 855-212-4227. Thank you so much to our guests who have joined us as well. Chris Easterling came through from the Akron Beacon Journal. Eddie Jackson joined us, former NFL defensive back current chef.

He came through to drop some knowledge. Hickey, he said the Lions are a sleeper, I guess. Yeah, a lot of people where he's at still think the Lions are bums.

I guess so. And you know, I guess we should go where he is because we can make, I guess, a lot of money on betting that the Lions will go to the Super Bowl down in Houston. Well, we'll see. We'll see what these these Lions do the rest of the year. You know, even thinking about, pardon me, thinking about what they did yesterday, beating those Vikings 31 to 29. They're good. They're going to keep on scoring.

Aiden Hutchinson, no worry. They're going to keep on scoring. And we've done a lot this show.

Talked about the New York Jets, how bad they are. Hickey, what's the cliche? There's no I in team. That's what they say, right? That's what they say.

Yeah, there's a lot of eyes running around that place. I don't know if they have a team. We talked some college getting into the Georgia Bulldogs, looking at Alabama, taking that L of Tennessee, Texas losing, USC being a bunch of losers. We'll take a deeper dive into that tomorrow. All the injuries in the league.

Jayden Daniels now week to week with that rib issue. So there's there's a lot going on in the NFL. And right before the break, we also talked about the return of the NBA tomorrow. The regular season kicks off with the New York Knicks in Boston. The Celtics are obviously going to hold their ring ceremony.

And I can't even say raise another banner. They're just going to put the year 2024 up there as they have picked up another ring. And then in the late matchup, we have Minnesota at the Los Angeles Lakers. And it's been said that both Ken Griffey Sr. and Jr. are going to be attending that Lakers game as it's fully expected for LeBron James and Bronny James to make their debut, the first father son combination to ever play in the NBA in just a matter of when it happens. And J.J. Reddick is just like, yeah, I'm just trying to, you know, keep all the emotions in check. This is going to be a wild season. This is a first year head coach. You've got to coach LeBron.

Hickey, it's it's so far gone. They started a podcast together, right? They were drinking wine and breaking down plays. Which a lot of people believe.

And it makes a lot of sense that that was essentially the job interview. How long how long before LeBron is sick of him? Never?

This is his guy, right? He's not going to get sick. No, LeBron will get sick of him. I would say 15 games.

Wow. No, too early, too soon. You think LeBron tries to, you know, make a call and he goes, I'm going to do this. And I don't know. J.J. Reddick doesn't come across to me as a pushover, you know? No, he does not.

Obviously, that'll be tested. But also, LeBron shows very little patience, right? He's not someone that's willing to wait stuff out.

So. Well, I think he knows I think he knows he's stuck with him. He can't. J.J. Reddick will be here all year long. I'm not saying fire him immediately.

I mean, like when you talk about like, you know, when you get frustrated with him, like are we talking like, you know, the first passive aggressive message he sends shot across the bow? I bet you it's within 15 games. I actually think it's I don't think it's going to happen. I think LeBron will just chill and relax. Of course, media will ask him something. He'll give a response, you know, but I think he'll chill for the first half of the year.

I know it's the Lakers. There's always some type of drama, but I think I think more J.J. Reddick will take more of the the fire from the media and I think he'll stand up. So I actually think it'll be good for LeBron because LeBron isn't going to be looked upon as he is the bad guy.

You know, here's the you get what I'm saying? J.J. Reddick is going to not be the face of the Lakers, but he's going to be primarily, I think, more of a spokesperson that will give LeBron a little bit of cover. That's a good point. You are right about that because he is definitely going to get it in with it, you know, into the media, right? They'll fight. There'll be some verbal back and forths.

I'm sure the fan base will first and foremost blame the coach. So, yeah, he actually, you're right, can kind of provide a shield, a polarizing shield where LeBron can kind of just slide by. And I think some of the responses we get from LeBron will just be to back up J.J. or, hey, hey, J.J. said this, LeBron, what do you think? And LeBron will play dumb or just kind of go along with it to kind of keep things on the status quo, but prepare yourself. So as much as we talk about the Dallas Cowboys and all of their drama, the Los Angeles Lakers are getting ready to provide plenty of it for the next, you know, six, seven, eight months. First step, LeBron and Bronny on the court the same time. Let's see what this looks like tomorrow and when they decide to do it.

It'll be real fun to see. And speaking of first year head coaches, oh, my goodness, it ain't going good in New England with the Patriots. They went to London. They took an L. The Jaguars beat them 32 to 16. The Patriots now have a record of one and six. That's six straight losses after they beat the Cincinnati Bengals to open up this season. Drake May had 276 yards, had two touchdowns and they still lost.

Let me say that again. They let the Jacksonville Jaguars put up 32 points on them. They only had the Patriots 38 yards rushing.

This is embarrassing. But when you're a team and you're winning for the better part of 20 years, let me tell you something. The NFL and other fans do not feel bad for you.

You need to feel the pain that a lot of other people are feeling. Without a shadow of a doubt, Jacksonville Jaguars had 171 yards rushing thanks to Tank Bixby, who had 118 of them and two touchdowns. And so Gerard Mayo, looking at his team, how awful they are, how bad they are. Well, he had a word that nobody wants to hear to describe him. Let's listen to first year head coach, former linebacker, Gerard Mayo. Disappointing game, disappointing game. We came out, we started fast. What I would say is we're a soft football team across the board. We talk about what makes a tough football team. That's being able to run the ball, that's being able to stop the run and that's being able to cover kicks.

And we did none of those today. They control the ball for most of the day. Their run game averaged over four and a half yards to carry.

Our run game, not sure what the average was, but it wasn't good. Soft. There ain't no football player wants to be called soft. Nobody wants to hear that. Gerard Mayo can call me soft. I just stand here in front of a microphone.

I ain't doing nothing. But somebody who's busting their ass and getting in multiple car wrecks every single game to call them soft. So the players didn't appreciate that. You want to know who else didn't appreciate that? The former head coach of the New England Patriots, Bill Belichick.

Yeah. You want to know who picked the majority of these players? Bill Belichick. You want to know who is on Pat McAfee today? Bill Belichick. You want to know who disagreed with his former pupil?

Bill Belichick. Listen to this. It's a lot of the same players. And in some cases I would say more. So I don't, you know, I'm kind of hurt for those guys because they call them soft. They're not soft, but they were the best team in the league last year against the run. And those guys did out there, went out there and did it, even though we couldn't score many points offensively.

So I don't know. I feel bad for the defensive players on that one. Cause those guys that that's a tough group. I mean, John Jones, Godshaw, Wise, Jennings, those, those are all the Uche, those guys are all tough players.

Like they'll, they'll strap it up and go. Duggar. I mean, they're, they're tough guys.

Oh man. Bill Belichick. He's not, he ain't shy in expressing his thoughts or opinions.

He ain't in the building anymore. He basically said, and we heard this from Gerard Mayo. He said, nah, I haven't talked to Belichick and yeah, you got to forge your own path.

It's as simple as that. A little surprising that he is, uh, I don't want to say making life difficult, but he's sticking up for the players. Hickey, you think he got any texts after that? Like, Hey, thank you, Bill.

Or the players just stay the hell out of it. Oh no, I think he definitely got some texts for sure. It's like, thanks Bill.

Think about like, he never says much and to kind of go against the coach after the coach threw him under the bus. I'm sure, like you said, a lot of those guys are his guys. I bet you, they definitely show their appreciation. Yeah. Yeah. Well, you know what, maybe this is, I don't even think this is a lesson. I think this is just Bill Belichick saying what he wants to say and saying what's on his mind.

I mean, if you want to take a deep dive, you could think that, Hey, I want to send a message to Gerard. Be careful how you choose your words. Uh, has, do you remember Belichick ever calling his players out and saying they are soft? I don't, I don't remember, but the guy coached for 20 years, you know, what's the, what's the most critical thing he said? Uh, he was always critical of his guys, critical of the team, but I don't think he's ever called anybody soft. I don't remember even him criticizing anybody. I mean, not that it's a bad thing cause he's notorious for, you know, ripping guys in film sessions, but like, He would always, one thing I do know, he would always give credit to the opposition, right? He never gave anybody bulletin board material. He would always talk about how great another player was on the other team, how great a unit was. He would always throw flowers and then just try to rip you to shreds behind the scenes.

So, I mean, if he follows that same ethos, then we know this for a fact, he never really ever said much of anything. Good or bad. It was just, we're on to Cincinnati. We got to coach better. Uh, we're going to try.

Yeah. He never answered any question. It felt like good or bad. And if you're Jerrod Mayo, you have to feel like, man, Bill, mind your business, right? Like let me coach my team the way I coach my team. You haven't spoken to me. We haven't talked, you know, you're not holding my hand through this process. Me being a first year head coach, just mind your business.

And this is, I guess, going to be another learning experience. Is Jerrod Mayo now going to be a little bit more hesitant in how he utilizes his words? Is he going to be more careful as to how he decides to express himself when it comes to the team? But you would think that maybe he does, you know, he ain't going to tell anybody publicly, but does he regret it? Was he trying to motivate the players?

Is he now over or thinking that over? We don't know what I do know. I think what we all know, the Patriots are going to suck. That is it. They they're bad. One and six. At least Drake May is alive to still throw the football.

He hasn't been driven completely into the turf yet. And the Patriots, they they got the Jets next. So let's see what the hell that looks like, as they are likely to go one and seven in the New York Jets.

They're likely to pick up another victory. And so this is bad. Hickey, as you said, Mike Evans out.

It's a hamstring issue. That sucks. That's bad. That means this is going to be a few weeks, man. That's not good. That is not good. Yeah.

That's I mean, you have to be extra careful. Hamstrings in general, you know, maybe a month, right? You got to think that he'll be out for as you try to nurse it back, assuming it's not like a tear and he's out for the rest of the season.

Hopefully not. But those are those hamstring injuries. It takes a long time to heal and it very quickly can go right. Reaggravate that very fast.

Yeah, you push it. And we know Mike Evans, not that there's any difference in any wide receiver. You think about what they have to do with their legs from the routes and and just getting a positioning and running and cutting and jumping. Mike Evans is built to go, go fast and jump.

And so you would think with his style of play. Oh, man, it's it's going to be tough and a big tough and a big blow here for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as Mike Evans is out with a hamstring issue. We know he ain't coming back this game. We don't know the issue with the hamstring. We don't know if it is a pull.

We don't know if it's a tear, but we do know we won't see him. The rest of this game may not have clear word until tomorrow. Right now, the Baltimore Ravens, they scored another touchdown a few minutes ago. The Baltimore Ravens lead the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 14 to 10 is about three minutes left to go in the first half.

We'll keep you up to date as they continue to roll. Meanwhile, we got another game they've kicked off already. The Cardinals and the Chargers about halfway through the first quarter is 0-0. Let's see how long that lasts, as we certainly know. Well, at least in the case of the Arizona Cardinals, they like to throw the rock around.

They'll get some silly scores up eventually, but I got the Chargers winning that game. It's the JR Sport Reshow here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. We're going to take a break when we come back. Speaking of angry coaches, the WNBA Finals did take place yesterday amongst everything else in the world of sports, all of the football games. You know, we now know the World Series. There was a WNBA champion crown, but the losers, they felt they got robbed.

The Minnesota Lynx felt that they got the short end of the stick. Want to talk about that on the other side of the break? We're going to listen to some angry coaches, one angry coach on the other side. And of course, we're going to wrap things up in a bit and tell you about a few things that took place this day in sports history. It's the JR Sport Reshow coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief. Down to the final two minutes of the first half in Tampa Bay, 14 to 10, the Ravens lead the Buccaneers. Mike Evans out with a hamstring injury, caught his 100th touchdown on the 25 yard reception. And he had another one thrown his way and he was kind of brought down and his hamstring, which was bothering him for a while here. Well, obviously it's, no, we don't know. We'll, we'll find out and we don't know how long it'll take to find out, but Mike Evans is done for the evening. Meanwhile, in Arizona right now, Hickey are the Cardinals, are they playing football? I just saw a guy drop it. Are they playing football?

Uh, a form of it, you could say, not, not a clean form, that's for sure. And so there is no score between the Chargers and the Cardinals right now. And Hickey, you, you described to me during the break how comical this game was at the start. So Kyler Murray was intercepted by a defensive lineman and then the lineman was stripped and then the lineman lost the ball trying to return it.

Well, is, is that accurate? Tiair Tartt, defensive tackle for the Chargers. Yeah, ball was tipped at the line, fell right into his lap. He got it right around midfield, started running the other way for the Chargers.

Uh, it looked to be, I think it was James Conner. Cardinals running back, came from behind, punched the ball out, ball rolled like 20 yards, recovered by the Cardinals. So an interception ends up for not for the Chargers, how the game started, unbelievable. Well, at least they got the ball back, right? They got the most important thing. That's the positivity. And then also, I just saw this, Jalen Rager, it doesn't matter what team he's on, he still can't catch the ball, right?

That is correct. A beautiful pass from Justin Herbert down the sideline. Rager catches it, well it was about the three yard line or so. He's about to go in for a touchdown and the defensive back for Arizona punches the ball out, ball goes into the end zone, out of bounds for a touchback.

Oh my goodness. Sloppy. This is why, why are they feeding us two games on what? Like, why don't we stop? Like why?

I need the real answer. Does anybody know the real answer why we get two games on a Monday night? Nobody wants this. It's a great question.

I have no idea. Nobody wants this crap, man. We got one good game. That's enough. Unfortunately, Mike Evans is out. Baker Mayfield has already thrown two interceptions. He just threw an interception to Marlon Humphrey. And you know, Ravens are probably gonna, I don't want to say run away with this one.

I still think the Bucks will be competitive, but we'll keep you up to date on all the football, good and bad and everything in between as we hang out here for the next 30 minutes. I did tell you, last, Hickey, did you see a minute of this WNBA finals game? I did not. I didn't either.

Watch your football, man. I'm happy the New York Liberty won, took them overtime, 67 to 62, one of the WNBA's inaugural franchises. They haven't won a title in all 28 years of their existence until now.

So good for them. But there was so much more said about the lack of free throws and plays and fouls that were called. It was pretty ridiculous. The New York Liberty took 25 free throws compared to the eight from the Minnesota Lynx. And so that prompted Minnesota's head coach Cheryl Reed to tell everybody, and I guess the season's over, she's still going to get fined, that the refereeing, it absolutely sucked.

Take a listen to this. You know, it's a shame that officiating had such a hand in a series like this. Obviously, there's always going to be a team that's going to be a little more disappointed than the other.

I thought today was incredibly disappointing. She went past that. She said they were robbed. All the headlines will be Reeve cries foul. Bring it on, right? Bring it on, because it was stolen from us. Bring it on. Spicy, man.

Whoa, it's stolen. Come on. That was five games. Was that a badly called game? I couldn't tell you guys I didn't watch.

Hickey, I did. Speaking of bad football, did you see did you see some of the highlights from the game? Now that was ugly. That was bad. I saw a lot of miss shots. Oh, there was one sequence that I saw went viral.

Hickey, I think we might be referring to the same thing. It was like, here's an air ball. Here's a block. Here's a turnover. Here's the ball rolling.

Here's another air ball. Here's is that what you're referring to? Yes. Yes, indeed. Bad.

So let me ask. Oh, my God. This was oh, my hickey.

Oh, my God. Oh, and I'm looking at watching a car crash. No, I'm looking at the box score for this game.

Oh, yeah. Sabrina's was pretty bad. Can you blame the refs? Minnesota shot 37 percent from the field. The champions shot 30 percent. Now, that's overall. Now, listen to this, when it comes down to threes, can we blame the referees for this?

Oh, this hickey, this hurts to read. The Minnesota links went three of 19 from downtown. That is a percentage of 16 percent from three. That's not good.

The New York Liberty, the champs. They shot two of twenty three from three. That is nine percent. Wow. Wow.

I'd say you got a score in the 60s that goes to overtime. Yeah. Can you blame can you blame the rest for shooting threes?

No. Do we got to blame the rest? I get it. The free throw discrepancy is kind of wild for a game that appeared to be a rock fight, just an ugly game, you know, all the way through. I will never, ever be a fan of somebody saying that we were wrong. Tell your people to make their threes. I don't even want three of 19. Maybe if you made two more threes, maybe you would have won the damn game. How about that?

There's coaches out here with sour grapes and hickey was not lying. Sabrina UNESCO. Oh, my God. Oh, what is this? Oh, what is this hickey? One of 19. Oh, yeah. One of 10 from deep. What is that? Five points.

Brianna Stewart, no better four for fifteen is slightly better. Damn. Oh. I'm glad I was watching football. Is it bad for me to say that? Is that a bad thing? I hate to say I was glad I was watching the Mets and that game was not a game for most of it. Oh, my goodness.

That is bad. You know, and it's funny, Sandy Brondello, the head coach for the New York Liberty, she was informed about what Cheryl Reeves said about how the game, the championship was stolen and robbed from them. Listen to what Sandy Brondello said after the fact. I thought they were pretty, yeah, pretty fair. I mean, I'm after after the last game, you know, I mean, that's what you got to give and take like game number one. We should have won that game, you know, close it out. But look, I have so much respect for Cheryl and I have so much respect for this, that Minnesota links team, because, man, I mean, it was that was ugly. I know Cheryl Reeve was cursing out when she heard that comment.

My lord. And, you know, when you get these game sevens and everything's on the line, you know, typically in basketball, they can be ugly, just people jacking up shots and people nervous and get real, real, real tense. But that was ugly. And if you weren't aware today, the WNBA, their players opted out of their current CBA looking to get some more cash. What else is new? Even though there was a not not surprising. Hickey, did you see the article at the end of last week?

So the WNBA, I think they lost 40 million dollars. No, I see that really. Yeah. Interesting timing, right?

Hardly. Let's see how much WNBA will lose 40 million dollars this season with NBA investors growing impatient. Not not a shock that that comes out. That information came out, I think, on Friday when the players are getting ready to say, hey, we want our share of pie. You know, we want we want some more. Well, I think this goes back to what everybody says is make more money. They better start kissing the ass of you know who?

Kaitlin Clark. Let's see what this does. At least they're moving in a positive direction. Marco Balletti, did you enjoy the WNBA finals game seven yesterday? Did you enjoy? Apparently I did because I didn't watch. And that's a good thing. Oh, no. Those numbers that you just read off are awful.

I put it on for five seconds. I saw the Brianna Stewart foul late that tied the game. And even in just in that sequence, I was like, this is ugly as hell. And I forgot to go back because I was flipping between the Mets and the Jets and everything else going on last night. Both 9 percent from three, 15 percent from three. That's inexcusable. Give us give us 20 something percent, three of 19, two of 23.

I couldn't imagine being in one of the Barclays Center and watching that. Like, what are we doing? Like, stop shooting the three. Stop. 30 years later, John Stark still gets clowned on for two for 18.

That was basically everybody that was on the floor last night. Yeah, that's. Well, they'll be better next year, right? Of course. Yeah.

The product overall. Yeah. But who's who's coming in the draft?

They got a draft. Well, we got to wait until college, right? Is that what's the young lady at UConn, Paige? Becker's, right?

Yeah, that's her name. Look, this can happen. And there's a game that if I remember correctly off the top of my head, the Lakers, Celtics. And what was that, in 09? Oh, when Kobe, Kobe stunk? Yeah, that whole game seven in Boston. I think the Lakers won that one.

It was just ugly as hell to watch. Wasn't that ringing a bell? Yeah, Kobe shot bad, but he had a triple double, I believe.

Yeah, I just remember that. But not just Kobe, the whole game. Like, nobody shot the ball well. Both teams were like in the thirties. It was it was ugly. It happens sometimes, but it's not good when you're a product that's trying to ascend and you get the championship, you get a winner take all and you put that in front of everybody.

It's just it's hard to get the league or get any kind of momentum behind it where you're like, no, no, no. Come watch us play. And then you put up this and it's like, this is the best you got in a winner take all.

This is what I want to kind of see. You know what? I'm good. Go teach him how to shoot. Go.

You do it. Not good. No, not good. No, no. Yeah, it's not.

It's not good. Hey, congratulations to the Liberty. So what are they going to do for the parade? They're going to go to Brooklyn. They're going to be in Manhattan. What are they doing?

You know, I didn't look into it, but I would have met. Are they getting, you know, Canyon of Heroes, Canyon of Heroes, Thursday, 10 a.m. OK, wow. So they're going to start where and end where? At City Hall, obviously.

But where are they going to start? You know, I don't know. I've never been in Canyon of Heroes. It's Broadway. You've been you've been on Broadway. What are you talking about? It's Broadway.

The parade route and just the normal street during the day. I couldn't tell you what that is. Well, I was going to say, whoa, this is this is a way off topic. A lot of people don't know what the hell I'm talking about. Uh, what did they replace the electronics store with over there?

Uh, Marco, you know what I'm talking about. The blue one, J.R., J and R. It was called J.R., right? J and R Music World? Yeah.

What did they replace it with? I don't know. I don't go down there much.

And by much, I mean, never. Well, there's nothing there but City Hall and a bunch of people who are quitting and being investigated. I mean, like, I'm going down there.

There's nothing. I hope the parade will be full, right? It's not going to be embarrassing. No, I don't think it'll be embarrassing.

But I mean, to find full. I mean, I don't think you're going to get four million people out there. Like, it's not going to look like the Yankees. Imagine this. We get a parade for them this week and maybe a Yankees parade a week and a half from now.

Wouldn't it be cool? Now, I will say this. It helps the Liberty that they're first. Because if you're a week after, if the Yankees do win and you go a week later, might not be as big for the parade. You get a chance now because you're the first champion in a really long time and people might just want to go just to go.

So that'll help you. Yeah, this is dumb. What are they doing here? They have the parade. It says Canyon here, Broadway between Battery and City Hall. Oh, so they're not even going far.

That's like Battery. So they're starting south and walking up. That's probably better. Because remember, when the Yankees had the parade, I feel like they didn't they go south? It's been so long, man. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know the direction and like what they did for how they went. I don't I don't know.

You see the end all the time, but I don't remember where they go. I don't want to say this to be bad. You know, the streets as you go further south, they're more narrow like that. That Broadway really tightens up.

Yep. And so it's probably better if you want to pack people onto that that small ass block and go from Battery Park and and go up and then just stop at City Hall. It looks good and it feels good visually. It gives you the not even the illusion. Look at me. I sound like such a jerk.

But with the building so tight and small and the limited space for people, I think you can get a better atmosphere than just let's roll down Broadway on the bigger part of town and then just go to City Hall. So congratulations to the Liberty. It wasn't pretty. It doesn't have to be pretty. They're champs after 28 years of being here.

Good for them. It's the J.R. Sportbree show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. We're going to take a break before we roll out. Share with you a few things that took place this day in sports history. You're listening to the J.R. Sportbree.

Back in the days when I was young, I'm not a kid anymore, but some days I sit and wish I was a kid again. It's time for this day in sports history. See, back in those days we had radio and you couldn't see anything and it was primitive and lousy and we liked it on the J.R. Sportbree show.

I wish I was 50 years younger and I'd kick your ass. It is the J.R. Sportbree show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. On this day, October 21st in 1967, the Seattle SuperSonics. They won their first game in franchise history. They won 23 games that year.

Damn it. We know the SuperSonics are coming back. Bring them back sooner than later. Like, I don't know, the next three or four years? It's a possibility.

We'll see. Also, this day in sports history, October 21st in 1980, the Phillies. They won their first World Series in the franchise's 98-year history. They beat the Royals four games to two. You can thank Tug McGraw who struck out Willie Wilson.

Take a listen to this. 1980 from MLB. October 21st, 2006. The biggest comeback in D1 history on the football side. Michigan State, they came back from 35 points down a beat. Northwestern Michigan State was down 38-3 with almost 10 minutes left in the third. They won a 41-38. 38 unanswered points. Let's take a listen to some of these highlights from ESPN. It is 38-3 Northwestern over Michigan State. Third down for Stanton.

Keeps it alive. Got a man open. Touchdown.

Does he have enough time to get him back into the game? AJ Jimmerson. Touchdown Michigan State. Drew Stanton on the run.

The State to the outside. He's to the end zone for the touchdown and it's a ball game. Michigan State right back in it now. Down 7.

38-31. Six-man rush. Stanton on the run. Stanton on the run. End zone. Touchdown TJ Williams. From 38-3 down to 38 all. 28-yard field goal. Brett Swenson out of the hold of Brandon Fields to get Michigan State the lead. Right through the uprights.

It is good and Michigan State has the lead with 13 seconds to go. Bechet. Pressure. Gets it away.

Incomplete. The ball game is over. The Michigan State Spartans in one of the greatest comebacks in Michigan State football history. Rally from 38-3 down in the third quarter to win it at Northwestern 41-38. Forget Michigan State history.

How about that was the greatest comeback in D1 history. That was back in 2006. Crazy. Damn. Almost 20 years ago. Wild stuff. Anyway, here's another thing. October 21st this time.

Well, this took place a year later in 2007. Rob Barones. This man kicked an NFL record eight field goals with the Tennessee Titans beating the Houston Texans. The final score. He kicked it. 39-36. Take a listen to this Titans radio network.

He explains it all. To win. Snap. Set. Kick on the way. Good.

Comeback foiled. Titans 4-2. Rob Barones with an NFL record 8th made field goal. And the Titans send the remaining crowd here at Reliant Stadium home stunned and disheartened. Wild stuff.

8 field goals. Rob Barones just a couple of years prior to that, prior to 2007, this man was kicking in the Arena League. OK, not all that surprising, right? He was also working as a Best Buy security guard. Now, I feel like there was a movie about this, right? Hickey, didn't the garbage man. He was a field goal kicking garbage man from Philly or Jersey or something like that.

Talk about invincible. I don't know. I don't know the name, but there was a receiver.

So maybe no, no, no. This is a movie. There was a movie about a field goal kicking garbage man.

I'm not one with movies, so you got me here. Field goal kicking garbage man, Disney, something like that. They made a movie about a garbage man, Disney garbage man kicker.

Yeah, the garbage picking field goal kicking Philadelphia phenomenon. Tony Danza. Shout out to Tony. I haven't seen Tony in a while. Tony Danza, nice guy. You haven't seen him in a long time, though. 1998, wow. Damn, Tom Floss.

They say it flies when you're having fun. Yeah, those are a few things that took place this day in sports history. Hey, thank you so much to Chris Easterling for joining us from the Akron Beacon Journal. Talk about the Browns, the injury to Deshaun Watson.

Thank you so much to former NFL defensive back Eddie Jackson for coming through, not just to talk to us about football, but food as well. And meanwhile, we do have some more games that are continuing on here on this Monday night. The NFL blessing us or torturing us with a double header, but we got a good one. Baltimore leads Tampa Bay 17 to 10.

And then meanwhile, you want to take a swing out to Arizona. The Cardinals lead the Chargers 7 to 3, about five minutes left to go in the first half of the game. So many injuries today. We told you that Mike Evans had to leave tonight's game. He did score or grab his 100th career touchdown.

And then outside of that, unfortunately, on another touchdown attempt, he had to leave with a hamstring injury. I'm sure we'll get some type of update when we roll tomorrow. We are rolling out. We will be back with you tomorrow, 6 p.m. Eastern, 3 Pacific.
