The New York Mets are trying to advance to the National League Championship Series after a Francisco Lindor Grand Slam, while the New England Patriots are switching quarterbacks with Aidan O'Connell taking over for Gardner Minshew. The NFL is also dealing with turmoil amongst its teams, including the Saints who are forced to switch out their quarterback due to Derek Carr's injury. Meanwhile, the league has its own issues, including the settlement of a lawsuit with Jim Trotter, a former NFL media member who was suing the league for racial discrimination.

If you got Sirius XM, it's channel 158. And if you got yourself a smart speaker, ask the speaker. Talk to the machine. It's 2024. Talk to the machine.

Ask it to play the Infinity Sports Network. Thank you to our producer in New York, Nick Theodoro, holding it down on the boards. And thank you again to you for listening to the show. We had a busy first hour. We talked about the Detroit Tigers beating the Cleveland Guardians three to nothing.

No, this is not a time machine. That is the same exact score from their last game where Carpenter hit that three-run home run to win it. Well, now they are one win away. The Tigers are from advancing to the American League Championship Series. They have a chance to advance tomorrow. Meanwhile, in Queens, New York, the New York Mets are trying to advance. They enter into tonight's game against the Phillies with a 2-1 series lead. If the New York Mets win this game, the New York Mets advance to the National League Championship Series. But as it stands right now, the Philadelphia Phillies have a one to zero lead in the top of the sixth inning. The Phillies have a man on second with no outs.

They're threatening to put another run up on the board. Now, I know the New York Mets have they've had a lot of magic here in this postseason, a lot of Peter Lonzo home runs and Francisco Lindor walks and home runs. The New York Mets have been on fire from their pitching to their bats. Do the New York Mets have another miracle in the game when their bats today to walk away with a victory? We'll see.

Let's ask our producer, Nick Deodoro. Nick, do you think the New York Mets are going to close things out tonight or do you think the Phillies are going to walk away with the W? I think the Phillies are going to win tonight. Mets magic might wear off a little bit, but, you know, I still have faith in the Mets, so we'll see what happens. Do you think the Mets will win the series overall? I think so, but it might go five games to B.C. I mean, the Phillies are certainly strong. Let's see what they can do.

We'll keep you up to date as this game continues and rolls on. Meanwhile, in a matter of minutes out in Kansas City, the New York Yankees and the Royals are going to go at it. The New York Yankees and the Royals are tied at one all. Whoever walks away with the victory tonight, well, they walk away with the advantage in the series.

And then, yeah, there's more baseball. In about two hours from now, the San Diego Padres, they have a chance to eliminate Shohei Ohtani and the Dodgers. San Diego leads them two to one after that six to five victory last night. Scored all six runs early. Dodgers answered with four more runs early, making it six to five.

And the Padres just held on the rest of the game with that bullpen coming up strong. So we'll keep you up to date with all of the baseball as the night in the evening, the afternoon continues on here on the airwaves and an hour from now. Because we've had so many issues in the NFL, contracts and players and who's performing and who's not performing, who's stinking a joint up, who's doing OK, who's doing bad. I'm giving you a top six list.

That's what I do every Wednesday. Every single Wednesday is a new top six list. And today, in an hour from now, I'm going to tell you about the worst six contracts ever in NFL history.

What are the worst six contracts in NFL history? I'm going to share that with you in an hour. So make sure you stick around. Maybe you'll be surprised with who's number one.

Maybe you won't be. 855-212-4227 is the number. That's 855-212-4227. You can also find me on the Internet. I'm on Facebook and Instagram and Twitter and all of that good stuff. I am at JR Sport Brief.

Now, right before we went to break. We talked about some of these issues with with wide receivers. We know there's one wide receiver specifically that Aaron Rodgers wants. His name is Devante Adams. I'm sure Devante Adams wants Aaron Rodgers.

And then we talked about some of the other issues that wide receivers currently have in the NFL. I told you about Nico Collins of the Houston Texans. Nico Collins is now out on injured reserve. We're going to miss the next four games because of a hamstring injury that he suffered this past weekend against the Bills. He's he blew out his hamstring on a touchdown catch. I guess if you got to go out one particular way, then that's the way you got to go out.

And then we talked about another wide receiver. I think this guy needs to sit down in an H.R. class. I know it's the NFL.

Do they do H.R.? Probably. Maybe not. We talked about George Pickens. When the game against the Dallas Cowboys decided to show up and sit on the bench with I. Black that said. Always bleeping open, open, bleeping always. Come on, man. Do better than that. You're more professional than aren't you right? You are you right?

More professional. George Pickens is twenty three years old. He's not a baby. He's not a kid.

He's a young man, but he's not a he's not a child. I think you you learn in your teenage years, maybe even earlier than that, there's certain things you don't do, putting something like that on your face. I don't care if you're in the NFL.

It's a bad idea. And so the NFL is actually investigating about why the hell he had this on his face. I don't think that investigation will take long. And then the NFL is likely going to find him. The NFL has fine players who have written messages on their bodies, whether it be on their cleats or the I black, whether it's to honor someone who passed away due to cancer or whether it's to, I don't know, raise awareness for a cause or or rest in peace to a family member. The NFL does not care.

You have to get permission. And if you need permission to say RIP Aunty or I'm standing up to cancer. If those guys got fired, I think putting an expletive on your face.

I think that's a bad idea. The head coach of the Steelers, we know it's Mike Tomlin, never short on words, never short on aggressiveness. He was asked about George Pickens. He was asked, did you know what the hell this guy had on his face and what he was doing? And is he a kid? Is he a grown up? What the hell is his deal?

Listen to what Mike Tomlin, coach of the Steelers, had to say regarding his behavior. I am aware of that. And obviously that has been and will continue to be addressed.

I wasn't aware of the messaging. And so, you know, I'm just giving you a knee jerk response to that. Has he grown in a way that you expected or thought that you would see him grow both as a person and a player since he's been in the building? He's certainly gotten better. Yes.

Uh huh. He oh, he's the best receiving option on the Steelers. I can imagine why he always wants the ball. But when it comes down to maturity, he's lacking.

Come on. This man, George Pickens, has hauled in twenty three receptions for three hundred and ten yards. He has yet to score a touchdown. And we know the Steelers offense is pathetic. Justin Fields started off nice, progressively got better and then progressively started to fumble the football all over the damn place. And you can't win if you can't hold on to the football, which is why we are very likely to see everybody's favorite QB Russell Wilson take over at quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Like this was always the plan. Well, not not for Justin Fields to start, but for Russell Wilson to start to have packages with Justin Fields. And if Russell Wilson went on, boom, you put.

Fields right out there. Russell Wilson was hurt to start the season. And because Justin Fields has faltered a little bit over the past few weeks, now it is his time to shine.

Russell Wilson was back and active at practice today with the second team. You take a guess how long it's going to be before he ends up with the first team. I have a sinking feeling, not a sinking feeling because not bad news for me. I just have an inkling. It's not going to take that long. Next up for the Steelers.

How about this? Another team thinking about their quarterback situation. The Raiders and oh, my God, they got a different situation besides what's going on with Devontae Adams. Yeah, their quarterback.

The Las Vegas Raiders have decided to sit down. Gardner Minshew. The Raiders are going with Aidan O'Connell. Now, keep in mind, last year after Jimmy Garoppolo, I know so many names, Jimmy G no longer there. After Jimmy Garoppolo got the boot, Devontae Adams pretty much wanted and asked for Aidan O'Connell to throw him the ball.

Gardner Minshew started off as the star of this year. And the Raiders, who, let's be quite frank, let's be real here, the Raiders aren't worth a damn. I just went through an entire situation where their head coach can't even tell you the truth about the wide receiver because they all want to give him the boot. The Raiders are two and three.

We know that they were going to suck because they can't figure out who they want at quarterback. And Antonio Pierce is absolutely hilarious when it comes to answering questions. This guy is as blunt and abrasive as anybody.

He hasn't won a damn thing either. And so it's pretty hilarious today when he came out for his press conference before they even got into Devontae Adams and the status of his requested trade. Antonio Pierce, I want you to listen to this. He was asked, hey, who the hell is going to be the starting quarterback? Antonio Pierce, he got right to the damn point.

Listen to this. Where are you going to be the starting quarterback? Yes sir, Aidan O'Connell. What went behind that decision? I mean, it was a quarterback battle early on. Aidan started five games and at this point I think it's best to go with Aidan going for it. In terms of the quarterback decision, do you envision this being kind of a constant battle throughout the year or do you plan on making the switch for the year? I don't plan on making switches at any time. Just when it's time to make a switch, we'll make a switch.

Oh my goodness. This is going to be a long year. This is going to be a long year for a lot of football teams.

Okay. The New York Jets are hoping that they can get to the playoffs. The Raiders are hoping, I don't know where the hell they hope they can go. They ain't going anywhere.

Aidan O'Connell moving into his second season now. Let me just put it this way. If you have to choose between two quarterbacks, you're a loser.

That means you don't have one court. That means you don't have one guy that you can rely on and you're just going to kind of kick it on down the road. Kick it.

Yeah, yeah. The season on down the road and just maybe just suck. Antonio Pierce can't walk out there and go, yeah, listen guys, we're just going to tank.

I'm sorry. Christian Wilkins is hurt. Navante Adams wants to be traded. Max Crosby is hurting. We don't have a quarterback. Yeah, we're going to tank for QB.

Can't come out and say that. You got to scam and flimflam the fans for as long as you can. But look, Raider fans aren't dumb.

They know they're not winning anything and they really know they're not winning anything with Kansas City in the same division as they are. And so just prepare yourself. Antonio Pierce is going to have more of these short Kurt. I guess I don't know if that was informative or uninformative. He's going to have more of those press conferences where he sounds like he couldn't be bothered.

I wonder what he's going to sound like when things in Vegas get worse. And I told you the Raiders joke, hilarious franchise. There's another team that I think hasn't beat right now.

At least they've been successful. We told you about this yesterday. The New England Patriots have decided to go in another direction. They have told Jacoby preset you can have a seat.

You're not needed right now. It's time for Drake May, the number three overall pick coming out of North Carolina. This man is now tasked with taking his own lumps, getting his own ass whooped and trying to lead these Patriots, hopefully into the future. Hopefully he's the only quarterback that Gerard Mayo has to roll with the rest of the way. When I say rest of the way, I'm talking about this season and beyond. I want to say that's wishful thinking, but take a listen to Gerard.

Mayo sounds much nicer than Antonio Pierce. He explains why he's deciding to now start Drake May going forward. I think now, um, you know, Drake gives us the best chance to win now and going forward, he's been developed. I mean, he's been getting better every single week. As I said before, you know, at the end of training camp, he actually was trending, you know, at a very high rate and that has continued through the early part of the season. And so, you know, solely my decision, uh, to make the, uh, to make this choice, I had a conversation one-on-one with Jacoby.

I had a conversation with Drake, uh, we're all on board. And I would also say, you know, Jacoby's a warrior and he took the news, um, very well, like a professional, like you would expect from a guy like that. Well, I mean, damaged Jacoby done been a journeyman for so long. How else is he supposed to take the news? He's not a dummy. He knows his purpose.

This man has been with new England, Miami, the Browns and Washington and back with the Patriots. He is everybody's favorite backup. Who are you going to call Jacoby? You'll be a backup or starter until we get a real guy in there.

And so the real guy is going to start. You don't draft a guy at number three overall. I have him sitting on the bench. Drake may is going to take his lumps against the Houston Texans in their next game. Drake may the new quarterback, the new starter for the Patriots. He spoke to the media as well, and he said that he is ready to go at five games of sitting on the sideline, hearing the play calls, preparing for the game, um, prepared for a Thursday night game or preparing for a Sunday night or Sunday afternoon game. So I feel like we've bounced a lot of different things, um, throughout the week and, uh, how to prepare and, um, just trying to tag along from Jacoby, um, veteran in this league who's, uh, does a great job of learning so much from him and seeing how he goes about practice. Um, so that's been probably the best thing of watching Jacoby and watching how he handles, um, you know, the whole nine yards, whether it's preparing, um, handling teammates, handling, handling y'all, um, and just, um, he's been great and a great mentor.

Well, damn man, I know he's 21, 22. Can we get him off of the caffeine? Why is he so hyper? At least he has some enthusiasm. Hey, he's so enthusiastic.

Let's listen to him again. Hey Drake, how you feel about your first start is big time, man. You know, I think it's a great opportunity, you know, some you dream of, you know, getting your first start in the NFL. Um, so excited to gather with the guys, um, take advantage of, um, you know, having the full week to get prepared and, uh, triple the best for forward to help the team win.

Oh man, that guy's he hyped up good for him. Now the players, maybe they won't, uh, stage a mutiny. Now nobody wants to be on the receiving end of catches or excuse me, passes from Jacoby preset eight five five two one two 42 27 that's eight five five two one two 42 27. Oh, by the way, the Patriots, they, they have some, uh, some other issues I have to share with you.

I'll do that. A Johnny is calling from Ontario. You're on the JR sport. We show us up, Johnny. Can you hear me? I hear you loud and clear. What's on your mind?

You might think I'm crazy, but I think if they're kept the coach for the New York jets, it will done something. Okay. All right, Johnny. Well, thank you for calling from Ontario. I appreciate you.

Yeah. He said something about the New York jets turning the season around. Well, good luck to them. I'm not banking on it. I'm not counting on it. I wouldn't count on it if I were you either. Johnny, you're not Ontario.

What is this? Stay away from the jets. They're bad for your health. It's the JR sport. We show here with you on the infinity sports network eight five five two one two 42 27 that's eight five five two one two 42 27 speaking of bad for your health. I told you the new England Patriots, they have a player that they just placed on the exempt list. The NFL put this guy out to pasture temporarily and then the NFL also, the NFL is known to kind of screw things up.

The NFL had to settle a lawsuit with one of its former employees. I'm gonna fill you in on what took place on the other side of the break. You know what? There's another quarterback who might get his first start as a rookie. His name is Spencer Rattler. We'll get into that and what's going on down in New Orleans at the top of the hour.

Of course, I got you a top six list of some of the worst NFL contracts ever. We got a lot to do. It's the JR sport we show the infinity sports network. You're listening to the JR sport brief. Long time listening. First time caller. Love your show.

I like how you spit the truth. Call him now at eight five five two one two four two two seven. It is the JR sport we show here with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network.

Eight five five two one two 42 27 is the number that's eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven. The New York Mets. I don't know what's up with that grimace energy, but they're trying to get another well trying to get a run on to home plate.

Philly still lead one to nothing. The New York Mets got two guys on with no outs in the bottom of the six. The Mets have been putting guys on base and need to make one of them cross the plate. The New York Mets with an opportunity to knock out the Phillies, who have been favored, I would say, since the beginning to compete for World Series. The New York Mets not expected to do anything this season. We'll keep you up to date with the New York Mets. The New York Yankees underway in Kansas City against the Royals will keep you up to date there. And then in about 90 minutes from now, down in San Diego, the Los Angeles Dodgers are going to try to stave off elimination at the hands of the Padres. We've been talking a lot of football.

We'll continue to do so. Eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven is eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven. Got some interesting news when it comes down to some legal issues in the NFL. I will explain, but let's talk to Tyler. Tyler is here from South Carolina. You on the J.R. Sportbreeze. Show us up, Tyler. J.R., I just want to ask you one question, sir, and I know you have a job to do and not a lot of time, but how did the Panthers turn around this debacle with Bryce Young and the head coach and the owner and the owner's wife and the whole thing?

You don't. You live and die with your owner and the owner, David Tepper. I think he's already proven to be an impatient jackass who's trying to rush things. So, I mean, from the hiring of of rule and how fast he got rid of him and how much he paid him and the impatience of bringing in Bryce and some of his activities in the area when it comes to fans, whether it's ripping down signs or throwing water. I mean, when this is the owner of the organization, how much more can you expect even from the guys underneath him?

That's what I'm wondering. Like, where's the where's the light at the end of the tunnel for Panthers fans? You know, every now and then here's the thing. Every now and then somebody gets lucky. You know, he does have a guy, a former NFL linebacker and Dan Morgan, who's running the organization. You know, every now and then a franchise gets lucky. I mean, if we go back in time, how many how many instances in your life have you heard a Lions fan just go, man, what are we going to turn things around? Well, they have a great GM. They have a great head coach. They've been able to bring in great talent. And the owner of the team got the hell up on out the way. And some teams realize that and some teams don't.

I mean, we can look at the Dallas Cowboys for all of the talent that they've had over the years. Where's the big one? Where's the victory? It doesn't exist. I mean, even if I have what I'm saying, you got to have an accident.

They got to have one guy. The answer is patience. That's right.

That might be the answer, because as long as you have an owner who's going to butt in on everything, you're screwed. I appreciate your response, sir. Have a great night. Thank you, Tom. Let me put this out here as well.

This is the part that sucks as well. In a lot of cases, when you bring on or a new owner comes on and he's swinging around his money, he's swinging around this money, all 17 billion dollars of it. He wants to make an immediate impact.

He wants to let everybody know that I'm here for the long run. I mean, we can look at an owner. How about how about Steve Cohen with the New York Mets?

The New York Mets are competing in the playoffs right now. This man bought the team. He said that he wants to compete for a championship and then also retool at the same time. He bought all these expensive contracts with the Scherzer and the Verland as he had to dump all of them. I mean, when he first bought the team, people were looking at him going, you traded for Francisco Lindor. When are you going to give him a contract? Well, he gave him a contract and he had to go through three GMs.

And then he had to hire a president in Stearns. And the team is as far as it's ever been since he bought the team through all of the criticism. I mean, we can go through owners. How about Matt Ishbia, the new owner of the Phoenix Suns on the basketball side?

This man wasted no time in saying. I'm bringing in Kevin Durant. I'm bringing in Bradley Beal. And it doesn't matter how bad this team is going to be in the future.

I'm swinging for the fences. Well, if they don't win a championship, the Suns are going to suck for a long time. This man, David Tepper, bought the team. Jerry Richardson was gone. We had to get rid of the team, not just because he was old, because of the sexual harassment stuff.

And then he ends up buying and he's trying to make big splashes. I'm going to give Matt Rule what, 70 million dollars? A guy who's never coached in the NFL because he can turn programs around. Oh, he is going to be a six year deal for a guy who's never coached grown men. What a dumbass.

Oh, I need Bryce Young. Oh, what a dumbass. Hopefully David Tepper is going through his learning experiences. I know it's it feels like he just showed up. He kind of did. But he's been there for what already? What, five going on six years? Hopefully he learns that he needs to move the hell up on out the way.

That's the only way you get it done. That's why I got no faith in the Cowboys. There's a guy who runs the Cowboys and owns them.

He thinks he's the best guy to make the decisions. Hey, Tyler, thank you again so much for calling from South Carolina. It's the J.R. sport. We show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network coast to coast. The phone lines open if you want to give me a holler.

Eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven. Ownership is important, people. It really is. It sets the tone. You know, do you have an owner who can get the hell up on out the way and let the people do their job?

Or do you have an owner that's just going to meddle and get in the way and and suggest you do it this way and that way? I mean, we can look at the Jets and talked about that to start the show. I mean, even the Jets owner, Woody Johnson, he works for Aaron Rodgers. Whether Aaron Rodgers wants to admit it or not, he knows he has all of the juice. Eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven.

That's eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven. Now, I did tell you the NFL is dealing with a few legal issues. They told one NFL player you can't play in the NFL.

Had to make a big old payout to one of their former employees. We're going to talk about that on the other side of the break. And then since we're talking about quarterbacks and switching guys around, it's not just the Raiders. It's not just New England. There's another team in Louisiana. They're forced to switch out their quarterback right now because Derek Carr is hurt.

Who the hell are they going to choose? I'm going to tell you what the Saints need to do on the other side of the break. It's the J.R. Sportbrief show coast to coast. It's the J.R. Sportbrief show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network.

Man, oh, man. The New York Mets were in a deficit. The New York Mets were down to the Phillies one to nothing.

Not any more. The sixth inning is done. And thanks to a Francisco Lindor Grand Slam, the New York Mets, they lead the Phillies four to one. Heading into the seventh, New York Mets got three runs a cushion.

Three cushions a run, whatever way you want to say it. And if the New York Mets win and hold on, well, the New York Mets advance to the National League Championship Series in the Phillies. Well, damn it, they go home. If you're the New York Mets, if you advance, you can take solace in the fact that the Braves had to deal with a lot of injuries, basically all season long.

Pick an injury. The fact is the Mets can say, hey, we helped. We helped knock off the Braves. We got the prime position in the postseason. The New York Mets can say, oh, we knocked off the Phillies.

We got prime position. And then later on tonight, wouldn't this be crazy? If the National League Championship Series was already set up and final. If the San Diego Padres knock off the Dodgers and we will be staring at an NLCS between the Padres and the Mets.

OK, right. I'll take it. I'm not confident in the Dodgers.

I don't think they have enough pitching. I think we can tell from what Walker Bueller did last night, got smacked from heaven. A high hell got bounced all over the place.

That poor guy. Anyway, we'll keep you up to date on all the games as they continue on. Meanwhile, in Kansas City, the Yankees and the Royals, neither team has scored a run. In the top of the third, New York Yankees got a guy on and a guy out.

We'll keep you up to date as everything continues on. Obviously, the Tigers, they took care of business earlier today by going out there and knocking off the Guardians three to nothing. They're one game away from advancing to the American League Championship Series. Eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven.

That's eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven. When we get to the top of the hour, there's so much NFL talk this week about guys wanting trades and guys getting demoted and teams stinking the joint up and players stinking the joint up. I've been inspired to share with you a new top six list for today. At the top of the hour, I'm going to tell you about the worst contracts that we have ever seen in NFL history. Yeah, I got that list coming. It's coming your way at the top of the hour.

You don't have to wait too much longer. Now, having said that, before we went to break, I told you the NFL is outside of the teams dealing with their own issues. The Patriots swapping Jacoby Percette for Drake May, Aidan O'Connell taking over for Gardner Minshew, Davante Adams wanting a trade.

I told you that there's some other issues here. Let me get this one out the way. We already learned that Derek Carr has an oblique issue and the Saints. Well, the Saints aren't quite the Tampa Bay Buccaneers or the Falcons. They sure as hell are not the Carolina Panthers. We talked about the Carolina Panthers, too.

They are a super joke. They got Andy Dalton starting in place of Bryce Young. I'm sure that's how they wanted that one to work out. But having said that, without Derek Carr, the Saints have a few options here. You tell me, is Jake Hayner sexy for you? If you're a Saints fan, do you want to see Jake Hayner go out there and throw the rock?

Or if you're a Saints fan, do you want to see what Spencer Rattler can go out there and do? I feel like we've heard about this dude for the past decade. Man, this dude was a part of a Netflix special when he was in high school. Everybody looked at him and said, man, this guy is a jerk. We saw what he did at Oklahoma.

He lit it up. People are saying he's going to win a Heisman. This guy said he was going to win a Heisman. He did not. People were saying he was going to be the number one overall pick.

He was not. He ended up getting benched for somebody that you might be familiar with, with Caleb Williams before he went to USC. So Spencer Rattler has a bad reputation. He has a reputation of being a jerk.

He had to go try to repair it at South Carolina. They did a whole lot of losing. There was no Heisman. There was no love.

There was no appreciation. And so when a draft came around this year, Spencer Rattler, someone who people looked at since he was coming out of Arizona, someone who people looked at and said he's going to win a Heisman. This man was selected in the fifth round of the draft. The Saints picked him at pick number 150. He was supposed to be the number one overall pick. Had to stick around in college, got picked 150. I mean, the quarterback drafted before him was Bo Nix at number 12. Really? Bo Nix got drafted at number 12 and Spencer Rattler had to wait until the fifth round.

That's a wide gap. But we know Spencer Rattler has talent. Should he take over for Derek Carr? I would. Unless the guy is a complete jerk in the locker room and depending on what they show at practice, what do you have to lose?

You might as well see what he can go out there and do. The Saints are keeping people pretty clean in the pocket. Derek Carr has only been sacked five times.

He's not being treated like some of these rag dolls in the NFL. Hello, Jacoby Brissett. Hello, Deshaun Watson. Think Deshaun Watson's been sacked more than 25 times already.

That would be an NFL record if he keeps up with that pace. Derek Carr is out. Give give Spencer Rattler a chance.

What do you have to lose? We know Derek Carr is not long for the New Orleans Saints. He's not going to win them a Super Bowl. You might as well see what Spencer Rattler can go out there and do. Now, having said that, Dennis Allen, the head coach of the New Orleans Saints, who I think was hated on by his own fan base. Dennis Allen had some words about Rattler potentially getting the start.

Take a listen to this. Sure, you guys are all going to be wondering who's going to be the quarterback. Spencer Rattler will be the quarterback for this game. We talked a lot as a staff about what we felt like was the best thing for us and give us the best chance to win the game. That was the decision that, you know, we made. And and we're excited about him getting an opportunity to go in there and we'll let him go play and see what he can do. Genius move.

Why would you move? Why in the hell would you put Hayner out there for what? He's a mop up man. And the only way that that Rattler loses this job is if he's a jerk or he performs poorly. Not that difficult of a thing to do.

Good luck to the Saints. Test the water. See what you got.

Figure it out. Let Darkar hear luck. I'll put it to you this way. If Spencer Rattler can look like the prospect that he was, I don't know, four and five years ago and perform up to expectations, then the Saints down the line, they very well might tell this guy, Derek Carter, take a hike. They may give him the boot. It's possible. Eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven.

That's eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven. Unfortunately, we have some other news in the NFL. I told you, the league isn't just dealing with turmoil amongst its teams. Which quarterback is going to start in Pittsburgh? Who starts in New Orleans when Davante Adams gets traded? When does Christian McCaffrey return to the forty niners and Nico Collins? When does he come back from his hammy? What are the Jets going to look like? What is Drake May going to look like in New England?

Besides all of these questions. The league has its own issues in tying into the New England Patriots. We all heard and learned about Jabril Peppers. This man has been placed on the NFL's exempt list. He cannot play.

He cannot practice. He's gone. And we don't know how long he's going to be on this list. But the man we learned earlier this week was arrested over the weekend on charges that include assault and drug possession, allegedly cocaine and incident with a woman.

Just awful stuff. He's gone. So you won't be seeing him on the New England Patriots, a team that gave him a three year contract worth 30 million dollars. Jabril Peppers will not be around somebody else who will not be around with the NFL.

And I don't think he wants to be around with the NFL. It's Jeremiah Trotter. Or excuse me, I'm mixing up my Trotters. Jeremiah Trotter used to knock people silly for the Philadelphia Eagles. The Trotter that I'm referring to is Jim Trotter.

And why does that name sound familiar? Not just because he has the same damn last name as a former Philadelphia Eagle. Jim Trotter, if you recall, for two consecutive years at the NFL's media day availability during Super Bowl week, he posed questions to Roger Goodell about diversity in the workplace, specifically as it relates to the NFL network. In both instances, in both cases, Roger Goodell, I'm sure because he was publicly asked about this, was not happy. And Jim Trotter brought to light the fact that for an NFL that is 60 to 70 percent African-American, that there was no representation or senior management or leadership involved at the NFL network when it came time to tell these stories, that the NFL was was pretty much out of touch, that how could you tell these stories of the league and not have anyone in the room to make key decisions on storytelling surrounding its stars?

Valid argument. Well, not for Roger Goodell. He didn't appear happy in any of these responses when it was time to respond to Jim Trotter. And ultimately, you want to know who got the boot? Jim Trotter got the boot from the NFL. When it was time to go, he ended up suing the NFL for racial discrimination. The NFL tried to get the lawsuit thrown out. The NFL was unsuccessful in getting the lawsuit thrown out. And so the NFL, we learned today, settled. Yes, that's what the NFL does. They got so much money.

Go ahead. Ask Colin Kaepernick. The NFL settled its lawsuit with Jim Trotter and Jim Trotter as a result. I'm sure he's taken a nice chunk of the change, but he's also paying it back. Something that I respect because Jim Trotter is also starting up a scholarship fund for HBCU students who are interested in journalism. He said in a statement, I will be creating a scholarship foundation for journalism students at historically black college and universities. And the NFL has agreed to make a donation in support thereof.

I'm proud to have the opportunity to help and support HBCU students achieve their goals and dreams just as scholarships afforded me those opportunities when I was a student at Howard University. Now, I think this is very clear. The NFL has admitted over the years they just got so much money. They've admitted to being jerks. They've admitted that they haven't paid attention to some of the issues surrounding the league, instituting things like the Rooney Rule. The NFL has admitted it's wrong after they've settled, after they've paid for silence.

That's what you can do when you got a lot of money. You think the NFL wanted everybody to see what emails went around about Mr. Trotter? I think the NFL wanted to publicize some of the issues. Now, it would have been nice to know. And Jim Trotter knows, but he's actually taking the NFL's money and doing something good with it.

So I give him kudos for that and passing it on. It's the J.R. Sportbrief Show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. We're going to take a break.

When we come back, we're going to talk about money. Unfortunately, some of the worst contracts that the NFL has ever doled out in its history. Man, we got some players right now walking around with some bad contracts and some teams that have given them out. It's a new top six list of worst contracts in the NFL ever. And it's coming up on the other side of the break. It's the J.R. Sportbrief Show Coast to Coast on the Infinity Sports Network.
