It is the JR Sport Brief Show here on the Infinity Sports Network. I'm coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia. Thank you to everybody tuned in and locked in all over North America. Happy Friday. Wherever you're at, whatever you're doing, I hope you're well. I hope you're safe. I hope you're good. I hope you're spectacular. And if you're not, that sucks. I'll try my best to help you out. I'm only hanging out for one more hour. I might be in Atlanta, Georgia. But thank you so much to our producer holding it down on this Friday night.
He's in New York, Jack Carty. This show gets started 6 p.m. Eastern, 3 Pacific every single weekday. You can listen on the free Odyssey app, your local Infinity Sports Network affiliate, Sirius XM, Channel 158, and a smart speaker. You got one?
Ask it to play the Infinity Sports Network. What a show we've had. Thank you to Dan Wilkin for joining us from USA Today. We talk college football.
Hey, thank you so much, Mike Defabo. We talk pro football with the Steelers. We gave you an update on Devante Adams.
We talked about the basketball in Abu Dhabi. Talked about the New York Mets. They found themselves a pitcher for tomorrow against the Phillies.
Who would have even thought they would even be in the NLDS? And then right before the break, we talked about some of these NFL coaches who, man, now that we're just about a quarter of the way through the NFL season, we talked about some coaches that are already in some hot water. When you're in hot water, you're getting cooked. They can already serve you up.
They can already put you down on a plate and chop you up and serve you. You about to be done. Anyway, we have so much more to do in this hour. Of course, at the end of the show, as I do every single weekday, I'm going to share with you all just a bunch of things that took place this day in sports history.
If you're not aware, if you've been underneath a rock or maybe working your ass off all day or maybe doing something else all day, today is October 4th. We're going to go back in time at the end of the show and take a look at a few things that took place this day in sports history. But let's stick to the now, right now, this moment.
Let me finish this up. This weekend on the college football slate, as we just discussed with Dan Wilkin from USA Today last hour, it's not as glamorous as last weekend. It's not as Alabama and Georgia-ish. And I could kind of say the same thing for the NFL. Last night, we had an amazing game, unless you're a Falcons fan, more so a Bucs fan. Either way, both teams had heart attacks. We saw an exciting game between the Falcons and the Bucs. The Falcons came out on top.
Good for them. We saw it. On Sunday, Sunday morning, we're going to see the New York Jets and Aaron Rodgers take on the Vikings in London.
And Sam Donald should be a lot of fun, right? Sunday Night Football, we talked about this. The Steelers hosting the Dallas Cowboys. That should be a fun one.
We got the Saints and the Chiefs on Monday. That'll be a fun one. I'll be right here on the air while the game is going on. You can listen and watch and we can talk about it.
That's all good and fun. And then we even got a grudge match. Stefan Diggs getting ready to take on his old team, the Buffalo Bills. Those are the good games.
But then unfortunately, I have to tell you about, well, some bad not games, but some bad ones, some bad guys, some bad situations. The New York Giants have to take on the Seahawks. That's going to be ugly. No Malik neighbors for the New York Giants.
He's still out with a concussion. The New York Giants and their terrible offense, they should just hold a raffle. They should just select random fans to come out of the stands and help play wide receiver for the Giants.
If you want to give the Seahawks fans a gift, let them play against the Seahawks because the Giants are going to need it. And I told you, Mike, Deball, Deball, Brian Deball, excuse me, Brian Deball. He's fine. His team sucks so bad. Even the general manager's kid wanted Jayden Daniels. You can't fire Brian Deball when everybody knows the quarterback sucks. It's not his fault. Dallas Cowboys, Mike McCarthy, Mike McCarthy, he's not going to get fired in the season.
He's probably going to get the boot at the end of the year. They take on Pittsburgh Sunday night. Let's see what Justin Fields can do in prime time. No Michael Parsons, no Demarcus Lawrence.
Damn it. No Brandon Cooks on the offensive side of the ball. It'll have to be the CD Lamb show if the Dallas Cowboys want to walk away with a victory. But I know at the end of the season, Mike McCarthy is not going to walk away with a job.
Nick Sirianni is teetering on that line as well. What an embarrassment it'll be for the Eagles if they lose to the Browns after they just got beat by the Bucks again. And now I got to tell you about the one guy who actually might get fired before the season even comes to a close. It's Duck Peterson. It doesn't matter if you win a Super Bowl with a backup. It doesn't matter if you you basically come on board full time to replace a terrible Urban Meyer. For everybody in Jacksonville, Duck Peterson is going to get fired.
Shot Khan is going to look at that man after a game and just say, man, just get your bags and leave. I got a car waiting for you outside. Just just just go somewhere. We don't need you. We don't want you anymore. Jacksonville Jaguars are 0-4. They got smoked by the Bills. They lost to the Texans. They got the Colts up next.
Maybe the saving grace. This will probably be the first victory. And if they don't, I bet you he'll get fired. Because we don't know the health status of Anthony Richardson.
What we do know is health status always hurt. And then Jonathan Taylor, the running back, he ain't no better. I mean, Joe Flacco just gonna go out there and light it up. Where's A.D.? Let me find him. Oh, how's he feeling? OK.
If the Jags don't win this one, Duck Peterson might be gone. Earlier this week, they asked him about his job security. He's like, man, what do you ask me that for?
That's a weird question. Then at the same time, he knows it's his responsibility because he's the boss. Listen to this.
As coaches, we can't make we can't go out there and make the plays, right? It's a two way street. So, you know, you guys can sit here and point the finger all you want. That's fine. Point it right at me. I can take it. OK, I can take it. So whatever you want to ask me, say whatever. Right.
Go ahead. Oh, OK. Well, what else are you going to say when things are done? It's finished.
It's cooked. What else are you going to say? I told you, Mike McCarthy has to do this all season long, at least Duck Peterson. He'll get some relief before the year is up. He can start an early vacation. The clock is ticking on that guy. A shotgun can't fire himself. His son can't fire him. And damn it, you're stuck with Trevor Lawrence. Fifty five million dollars to have an 0 and 14. Yeah, Doug is going to get the boot. Eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven.
Phone lines are open. That's eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven. Let's go to Tampa and talk to Todd. Todd, you're on the J.R. sport re-show here on the Infinity Sports Network. J.R., let's get down the business. I want the three games I want to top before I close with my close with my Buccaneer disaster last night on national TV.
I'll hit that in a minute. I just want to chime in on Steelers, Cowboys growing up with a rivalry that was, but Terry Bradshaw got it done and won twice in the Super Bowl. Lynn Swan may be the best big time receiver, if you remember those games. But and it didn't mean Joe Green said Franco Harris was the best big time running back. And when it came to the playoffs, that's going to be a clap. That's always been a classic. And then and then the Jets, let me say some, I was born in New York, was five years old when Joe Willie guaranteed it, got it done, born in the Bronx.
And I just won before I moved down here to Tampa. There was no Bucks, Razor, Lightning. But let me say some. OK, Bryce Hall, you look slow in the hole. OK, the Edwards kid looks faster and gives more purse.
OK, that's number one. You need to protect Aaron Rodgers. Aaron, you got to throw the ball deep. You're not scared of no defense. You got to win this game. You got to prove you could win the big game if you're going to try and make the playoffs. OK, and do something here.
You got to get Max protection because the Minnesota Vikings are 4-0 for a reason. And they're sending everybody. Todd, Todd, help me. Help me out here. You're saying a lot. You're saying a lot very fast. Give me your ultimate point.
Give me your final summation. Go ahead. My Buccaneers. We better wake up because y'all just gave that game away. I got you in the Super Bowl. I know I'm smoking some, but I had us in the Super Bowl when we beat Kansas City 31-9. I said the Buccaneers would get it done, and we did. I tell you right now, if we don't throw the ball to Mike Edwards, we're in the red zone again.
O.C. in the second half. We always scored six points.
Fire yourself, OK? Because this Buccaneer team's 10 times better. And Todd, both of you can bring pressure. Let Kirk Hudson stand back there like a statue of Dover 500 yards, or you're going to bring Lavonte Davis to the Hall of Fame and plant him in the ground.
If we don't win next week against the Saints, our season is over. I'll talk. Oh, thank you, Todd.
Appreciate you. Wow. He said he was. I think he said he was smoking something out of a cigarette.
He's smoking a cigarette. That guy reminds me of that guy from King of the Hill. Boom!
Boom! Was that guy Boomhauer? That's exactly who that guy sounded like.
He did not take a breath. He said he was smoking something. Did he say somebody else on the Buccaneers was smoking something? I don't know. Anyway, what was that guy's name? Todd. Hey, Todd, thank you.
I guess. Thank you for calling from Tampa. I appreciate you. And I had to interrupt him to have him get us to the ultimate point. He is all set and he's already for Friday. I don't know what he's been doing, but he's he's already there. 855-212-4227. That's 855-212-4227. I will tell you this.
I agree with him. The Buccaneers choked yesterday. They couldn't take advantage of all of the mistakes made by the Falcons. The Falcons were missing field goals, committing penalties, having field goals blocked, throwing interceptions like Tampa Bay completely gave that game away. They couldn't hold on.
It was miserable. And despite Baker Mayfield having another great game, three touchdowns, Baker Mayfield after the game, Baker spoke and he told everybody, I don't care about my stats. I care about the fact that we lost and we screwed it up at the end of the game. Listen to what Baker Mayfield said. Just back and forth. You know, obviously, every time we got the ball back in the fourth quarter, trying to hit the mindset and tell the guys, you know, we need to finish with this, finish the right way and with points and put this game away.
And then once they're driving fourth quarter, just realizing that we need to hit the reset button, get ready for overtime. Obviously not getting a chance to go out there just based on the rules. But yeah, not ideal for us. Not ideal.
It definitely was. Look, let me tell you something. If Kirk Cousins is swag surfing at the end of a game, y'all blew it. If Kirk Cousins is swag surfing with the crowd at the end of a game, you suck. I mean, the Buccaneers are good. They're a good team. They're good enough to win a wild card. They're good enough to win this division, unless the Falcons choke it away themselves because the Falcons don't do anything but go up and go down. Yeah, NFC South is interesting. You can count on all three teams to be competitive.
I say three teams because the Panthers, well, the Panthers barely count as an NFL squad all by themselves. That's just the reality. It's the JR Sportbreeze show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. If you want to holler at me, you can. The phone lines are still open. It's 855-212-4227.
That's 855-212-4227. We're going to take a break. And when we come back on the other side, I'm going to kind of roll you through a lot of the news that has taken place today. What's the latest with Davante Adams?
What's going on with the New York Mets and their starter tomorrow? I got an update with you all. It's the JR Sportbreeze show here on the Infinity Sports Network. It's the JR Sportbreeze show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. 855-212-4227.
That's 855-212-4227. We've got you all set and ready for the NFL action over the weekend. Now that the week has gotten underway last night with the Atlanta Falcons and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, we got you all set. Hot and ready.
Yeah, hot and ready for the college football action that's already underway and will continue on tomorrow. But now it's time to take a look at some of the stories that have taken place throughout the course of the day that have caught not just my attention, but probably yours as well. I guess the first one is what the hell is going on with Davante Adams? Like most people, he utilizes social media. But today, Davante Adams utilized social media to go online and put up a photo of Edgar Allan Poe. Now, come on now.
Tell me you're not trying to be a troll without being a troll. We know Edgar Allan Poe was basically with the Raven and never more. That's the inspiration for the Baltimore Ravens.
And Josina Anderson, NFL insider, she basically said this. This is nothing. There's nothing going on. There's no real hardcore communication between the Raiders and the Ravens that's going to just get this trade all said and done.
You can throw that idea on out the window. When I saw the message, the first thing that came to my mind was this is a mind game. This is a leverage game. This is Davante Adams putting up, I can't call it a, what do you call this stupid post?
A mind games post, a subtweet, a sub message. That's all it was to the New York Jets to basically pick him up. To him, to everybody, go, oh my God, he's going to the Ravens. Oh my God. To have the New York Jets say, oh, we need to do something.
We need to act soon. Meanwhile, Aaron Rodgers is in London getting ready to take on Sam Donald and the Vikings. And well, let's just say, of course, Aaron Rodgers was asked about his former teammate, Davante Adams.
And this is what Aaron Rodgers had to say. I don't know how much I can say about it. This tampering, but I still have a close friendship with him. We spend time in the off season together.
He's a great guy and a great player. And the rest of that's out of my hands. Of course, that of course is Aaron Rodgers.
What else is he going to say? You don't want to get hit with tampering, but of course, behind the scenes, Aaron Rodgers is lobbying to bring in Davante Adams. And let me tell you something, it would be cool as hell.
Cool as hell. If this man was a member of the Baltimore Ravens, but I don't see it happening. Come on. Davante Adams with Derrick Henry, and Lamar, and they have to figure out that cap situation.
Everybody does. And so they have to see they being the Raiders, how much of his remaining $13 million of his contract do you want to eat? It's been said that the Davante Adams could be traded as soon as next week. I think he'll be a New York Jet. And speaking of New York, we got baseball tomorrow. The division series starts tomorrow.
We kick off with the Tigers and the Guardians. The second game, we got those New York Miracle Mets taking on the Phillies. We got the Royals and the Yankees in the evening time. And then at night, a West Coast grudge match between the Padres and the Dodgers. I don't know if the Dodgers got enough firepower to hang in here with the Padres.
I got to be honest. The Royals are expected to lose to the Yankees. Let's see what Bobby with Junior has to say about that. I'm going to give the Yankees the edge based on experience. And then with the Mets and the Phillies. Oh, the New York Mets are starting a guy who has only pitched five innings this year.
His name, Kodai Sanga. This is the man who is expected to be the ace for the New York Mets. He wasn't the ace for the New York Mets this year. He was just injured. Shoulder injury, leg injury, five innings all season long. He's making his second start tomorrow in the postseason against the Phillies. I have a feeling unless he just moles everybody down in two or three innings, because you can bet he ain't pitching longer than that.
It's Feast of Famine. They're either going to light him up. Well, he's going to sit them down because they haven't seen him all year. The New York Mets manager, Carlos Mendoza, he spoke to the media and he said it was the pitcher's idea to do this.
Listen to this. He was the one that approached us and he wanted to know what what were we thinking in case, you know, we were here in the division series and or potential and LCS. And we just wanted to hear what he had to say and offer. And he was pretty honest with us. And it was an easier decision because of what we've been through with him the whole year.
OK. It was an easy. How is it an easy decision? You haven't seen the man pitch all year long.
It's such an easy decision. Was he rested? I don't even think it's a matter of being rested.
The guy's not sharp. It's pretty sad, but if you're the New York Mets, you just. You just got to ride the wave, right? What's the worst thing that could happen? The New York Mets are going to end up with using, I don't know, five and six pitchers just to get through the game tomorrow. Good luck against the Phillies.
I'm going to be honest with you. The game tomorrow. Good luck against the Phillies. I think the magic might run out for the New York Mets. And then I got the Guardians over the Tigers. Look, everybody in Detroit can't have grit, OK?
Not everybody. Eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven. That's eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven. Ashley is calling from Sacramento, California. You own the JR Sport Reshow.
You own the Infinity Sports Network. What's up, Ashley? Not much. How are you? I'm amazing.
What's on your mind? So I have an interesting WNBA take about Kaitlin Clark and I want to see what you have to say about it. I think based off of some numbers I've been looking at with Kaitlin Clark, Trey Young and NBA players, I think Kaitlin Clark might actually be a better all around basketball player than Trey.
He's he as far as Kaitlin Clark, she shoots the furthest three on average when she is shooting a three, even out of NBA players when looking at that. Ashley, it's a it's a it's a it's a different game. It's a different game between the Women's National Basketball Association and the NBA, which happened to be men. If you want to talk about the game or the skill set within their respective game, I think you can. But to compare them is completely unfair.
And I think actually out of this world, I wouldn't do such a thing. I mean, the only reason I go there is they're very similar in terms of their play style. They both like shooting threes.
They both are very good at passing the ball. But of course, it is a different game, like you said, in terms of NBA and WNBA. And to be quite frank, I don't necessarily watch a whole lot of WNBA.
I can't really speak to those differences as well as you probably could. But in terms of play style and how how effective Kaitlin Clark is and the short time that she's been playing, I almost wonder if she would be. Ashley, you went that the noise in the wind and stuff is is not good.
And thank you for calling from Sacramento. I'll tell you this for what Kaitlin Clark does in the WNBA. Yes, she is a great all around player. Kaitlin Clark just won Rookie of the Year, 20 points, six rebounds, eight assists. Her numbers, she turned them way the hell out by the time she got to September. Yeah, she's great.
She's great at what she does. Nobody in the WNBA is doing what she does. Well, I can take a look in the NBA and it may not lead to winning.
And it ain't too many people running around doing what Trae Young does. And so, yeah, they're very different players. But to compare Trae Young to Kaitlin Clark and say Kaitlin Clark is a more all around player for her league, let's not compare apples to oranges. I mean, I'm not going to the farmer's market and looking at a box of apples and I'm not going to look at a big apple and then go look at a small orange and go, oh, they're both fruits, but the apple is bigger. So the apple is better. No, no, that's a big ass apple and that's a big ass orange. They're just two different fruits, though. So let's why are we comparing?
They taste different. I'm not going to get involved with. Never mind. Eight, five, five, two, one, two, forty, two, twenty seven. That's eight, five, five, two, one, two, forty, two, twenty seven. Jack is here from Canada. You're on the J.R. Sportby show. What's up, Jack? Hey, J.R., I appreciate you taking my call. I'm big fan. Thank you, man.
What's up? I was going to make a comment about the Devante Adams thing, like he's an unreal player. And I think it's hard to say that any team wouldn't be better with them.
But I think Baltimore might be kind of a weird spot for him because of me personally, I think the Ravens are kind of a better team when they're leaning around, especially now they got Henry right. But anyway, I'm a big Vikings fan. And I was kind of curious about what your thoughts on them were this year. I have been a fan for a long time, so I'm very hesitant a lot of times. Jack, I got a good coaching staff there. Jack, I am just as hesitant as you. I mean, if you take a look at the Minnesota Vikings, do you trust that Sam Donald is going to look like one of the best quarterbacks all year long? Do you believe that, Jack? I'm a big believer in Kevin O'Connell.
That's all I know. And I'm a big fan of Flores, too. I always liked him and I was over the moon when they signed him. But again, like I said, I've been through enough heartbreak as a Vikings fan to keep my guard up. I'm just curious your your take on how you think they're going to make some noise or what? Yeah.
Well, thank you, Jack, for calling from Canada. Let me tell you something. I look at the Minnesota Vikings. I expect this Minnesota Vikings team to look good. But then I expect the Packers. I expect the Lions to punch him in the mouth.
I'm being realistic. I'm hoping at the best. I'm hoping that we haven't just seen the best right now.
But I feel like the Vikings are like a pumpkin, right? I would love it. I would really love it if Sam Donald was just absolutely amazing.
All through the end of the year, I would love it. The guy just won NFC Player of the Month, Sam Donald, the New York Jets reject. Come on. This is the real story of one man's trash is another man's treasure. Sam Donald, there he is living the example of it. But you ever take something home and you like it at the beginning?
And it takes a month and you start going, this thing is falling apart. That might be. That might be Sam Donald, OK? That might be Sam Donald. Eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven.
That's eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven. Frank is here from Nova Scotia. You're on the J.R. sport re-show. Hey, J.R., how you doing? Nice to chat with you here for a second.
Thank you. What's up? Listen, I'm a lifelong Jets fan. Even up there in Nova Scotia is not a lot of us, but I don't know about this Devante Adams possibility, man. I just think we've spent so many years reaching for that that pie in the sky. If you go back, you could be far up.
You could go back. It's Leveon Bell. Geez, you go back to Ronnie Lott. It's somebody they're usually past their prime or somewhere that's on their way to the Hall of Fame and saying, oh, man, I just don't know if this guy still has it in. And it's it's just reaching, reaching and it gets that open. I don't know about it.
It comes sinking down pretty quickly. You think Devante Adams is washed up? No, I don't. I just don't know if the chemistry there or what what will happen to Garrett Wilson, you know, what will happen to Mike Williams or those guys pushed back.
I don't know. Mike Williams. Yeah, but Mike Williams will probably get the boot like he's he's probably going to be the odd man out. You don't want to get rid of Garrett Wilson, your future, unless it's just terrible. And that would be the most New York Jets thing ever. They draft this wide receiver, one of the best young wide receivers in the game. You bring in an older receiver because Aaron Rodgers wants him and then you tell the young guy to take a hike. That would be very New York Jets ask.
I don't think that'll happen. Mike Williams is the is the new guy. There might be a team out there that's willing to take a flyer on him. The New York Jets don't have to worry about too much when it comes to his salary.
But I'll tell you this. If you're the New York Jets, the minute that you acquired Aaron Rodgers, you said I have to go all in and the New York Jets have to go all in. And so if Aaron Rodgers wants Devante Adams, then you have to go out there and get him, because if he's not happy and then the team sucks, then everybody just gets fired. That's just the name of the game.
They knew that when they brought him in. You got it. Yeah, I guess you're right, man. But I just we've just had so many hopes with our players coming in and in the past and boom, whether it's been an injury, whether it's been their past, their prime, it's I've been burned a lot. I don't know. You got to see it, figure it out. The New York Jets have been burned since the name has showed up.
He had bad knees when he showed up to work. So, I mean, what can you say? I know. I know. Love it. I love you, Joe. I appreciate it. Thank you, Frank.
Appreciate you for calling from Nova Scotia. Eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven. That's eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven.
I know we got Marco Belletti here. Marco, if you're the Jets, if Aaron Rodgers tells Rob Salah and Joe Douglas to jump their response to just be how high? Correct. Damn right. If you go all in, if you make a deal with the devil, then go all in. And to me, it's silly if the Jets are not going to well, no, no, no. This move is a little too much.
What are you doing? You want to win the thing, right? And, you know, Davante Adams can be a weapon. You know, that's helpful for Aaron Rodgers.
You know, you want to make him as happy as possible. What is the downside here? I don't understand, because if you don't get to where you need to go, Douglas Salah, you're gone. There's no reprieve.
You got it last year with with four plays in Aaron Rodgers. There's no wiggle room, win or out. What's there to decide? What's there to discuss? Nothing. This is just. You know what they think when when this is all said and done? No, that's not going to work.
I was going to say whether they won or whether they lose, more likely that they lose. They should put Aaron Rodgers in the Ring of Honor for just being one of the Jets biggest bosses of all time. Like this guy just showed up.
They brought him in and he became everybody's boss. It's just I don't remember a scenario like this in the NBA. Sometimes you get it in the NFL.
Tom Brady didn't have pull like this in New England. Aaron Rodgers shows up to the Jets and he's the GM. He's the president. He's the the owner's friend. He says he's friends with the coach. I know he's not. That's not the case, but he's the boss. He should have. He should ask for them to build a statue today. I bet you they do it.
You know what? No argument, but I think you bring up a good point and a guy that not Brady when he was the Patriots, but Brady with the Bucks. He just did it differently because Brady doesn't let you know. But I want Gronkowski. Go get him. I want Antonio Brown.
Go get him. I wanted at the time he wanted Julian Edelman. Edelman is the one that told him no. Anything that Brady wanted when he went to Tampa, they went and did for him. They were just smarter and Brady was smarter that he didn't make it so obvious that he was the one demanding all this stuff. Rodgers is just a little bit different.
He wants you to know that he's in charge. Brady didn't want you to know. Oh, well, you know, Aaron Rodgers can't help himself by letting everybody.
You cannot help yourself. That's what I mean. So this is I think Brady's the perfect example because I think he did the exact same thing when he went to Tampa and I think Bruce Arians and Tampa, everybody, they were, hey, Tom Brady wants it. And it turned into a Super Bowl. So it didn't really matter because whatever he wants turns into gold and he knows what he wants.
And he's the ultimate winner. Rodgers was doing the same thing with the Jets. The pushback has become two things.
One, we know about it. And two, you only lasted four plays in year one and you're only four games into year two and you're two and two. If he wins the same way Brady did, no one's complaining.
If he doesn't, then you're just the diva that we all expected you to be. Well, the pushback, the big pushback is one guy left the Patriots and was a winner and went to the Bucks and was a winner. This guy's with the Jets that he's with the Jets and I can't wait to see how this sad and miserable story ends. And Bruce Arians had a little bit more track record and a lot more winning than Robert Soledad. Oh, oh, you mean Aaron Rodgers best friend, his friend?
Right. So, you know, that there's definitely that part of the equation is because Robert Sol is still on the outskirt of are you really a head coach? And Bruce Arians was solidified. We knew Arians could coach.
Brady knew Arians could coach. There's a difference. There's a big, big difference there. Oh, yeah, I still I'm still trying to get over the fact that they're friends. OK, that's what that's what Rodgers. He said their friends that they sit and they talk.
I'm like, OK, yeah, right. The minute that one of them is no longer getting a check from the Jets, the communication will stop for ever. You know why he's using the word friends, though? It's because it's not his boss. Rodgers doesn't look at Salah as his boss.
Oh, no, no. The way players do their head coach. Salah works for Aaron Rodgers. Yeah. Which is why he uses the word friend. It's not just because they're the same age or whatever.
It's not his coaches is my friend. Yeah. Wow.
He chopped them in the nuts. Well, exactly what it is. It's almost like Kyrie Irving, Katie. Remember, it was a good coach. Right. It's going to be a cumulative effort.
What was the words that he used? That's what Aaron Rodgers is letting you know. Look. Yeah.
No, no, no, no, no. We're cool. We're friends. Not a coach player.
Right. We're friends. I'm not going to actually sit here. Yeah, I'm not going to sit here and listen to if Robert Salah comes to me with about what we're going to do for game plan, I'm gonna let him know.
I got the game plan. Don't worry about it. Oh, wow.
What a wild world. Thank you to the New York Jets. And they took the sideshow out to London. It's the JR Sport Reshow here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. We're not going anywhere.
Not in London. We're going to go. I'm going to come back, give you a few things that took place in this day in sports history. It is the JR Sport Reshow here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network.
What a busy, busy day. Got you all set and ready for some college football action. Got you all set and ready for some NFL action after what we saw last night between the Falcons and Bucks. They got us all warmed up. We've had some interesting guests, some fun guests. Thank you all so much to Dan Welkin from USA Today for joining us. And thank you all so much to Mike DeFabo for joining us earlier from the Athletic to talk about those Steelers. They're going to take on the Dallas Cowboys at home for Sunday Night Football.
It's been a busy, busy show. Got the NBA in Abu Dhabi, the Celtics taking on the Denver Nuggets. The NFL possibly wants to go to Abu Dhabi. We got NHL action starting in the Czech Republic. We got the Bills and the Texans a revenge game for Stefan Diggs. We got we got Aaron Rodgers in London, international Aaron Rodgers.
I wonder if he gets cheaper drugs over there. I don't know. I have no idea, but I'll tell you this.
Those are all games that are going to take place on Sunday. It's the end of the show, as I do at the end of every show. I go back in time. Today is October 4th.
The year is twenty twenty four. But it's time to go back and take a look at a few things that took place this day in sports history. Back in the days when I was young, I'm not anymore.
But some days I didn't wish I was a kid again. It's time for this day in sports history. See, back in those days we had radio and you couldn't see anything.
And it was primitive and lousy and we liked it. On the JR Sport Brief Show. I wish I was 50 years younger and I'd kick your ass.
It is the JR Sport Brief Show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network, October 4th. Let's go back in time. Not that far ago.
Depends on how old you are. Let's go back to 2001 because there was a guy, a big guy with a big head. His name was Barry Bonds in 2001. October 4, 2001, Barry Bonds hit home run number 70.
He tied Mark Maguire for the most in a season. Listen to Barry Bonds do what Barry did the best. 94 strikeouts. Bonds with a drive. Looks like number 70 for Barry Bonds.
And it is, tying the all-time record set in 1998 by Mark Maguire. Barry Bonds hits home run number 70 at Emron Field. He's now homered in every National League park this year.
There's his son Nikolai greeting him at home play. Yeah, well, we know Barry Bonds. He finished with 73 home runs that year. The Giants beat the Outstrels in that game 10 to 2, by the way. Hey, pop quiz. Name something that Barry Bonds and Mark Maguire have in common.
Yes. Hey, October 4, the year is 2018. Tom Brady threw his 500th touchdown. The Patriots, they beat the Colts 38 to 24.
Listen to this. They don't pick up the first down there. He's able to make the tackle. Brady now over 300 yards for the game. 83rd time in his career.
Looking for all of it. On loads to the end zone. Caught by Gordon. Touchdown Patriots. Different players for touchdowns in his career. That is an all-time NFL record. Man, Tom Brady owns every record. That was touchdown number 500.
The man finished with 677 touchdowns. Who the hell is catching him? I don't know.
Patrick Mahomes. He got to play another 15 years, I guess. I don't know. Long ass time. October 4, two years ago.
The year is 2022. Oh, I know this guy. He's going to play baseball tomorrow against the Royals. His name is Aaron Judge. He hit an American League record. 62 home runs. Here is number 62.
Sorry, Roger Maris. Here is the 1-1. There it goes. Deep left. It is high. It is far.
It is gone. Number 62 to set the new American League record. Aaron Judge hits his 62nd. All the Yankees out of the dugout to greet him.
Just think of it. Three Yankee right fielders. The Babe hitting 60 and 27. The Jolly Roger hitting 61 and 61. And now Aaron Judge hits his 62nd home run. The most home runs any American any American Leaguer has hit in a single season. And the American League has been alive for 120 years. This is Judgment Day.
Taste closed. John Sterling of WFAN. This man retired early this year and came back just for the Yankees stretch run. He'll be on the call.
You heard Joe Buck and Troy Aikman on that Tom Brady call. Well, Barry Bonds, that was from Major League Baseball. Hey, those were a few things that took place this day in sports history. And if you needed a reminder, the day is almost closer to the end than it is to the beginning. Today is October 4th.
The year is 2024. Hey, Jack has been good hanging out with you this afternoon, this evening, whatever time it is. Likewise, Jay, it's always fun working with you.
It's always been a great show. Well, thank you so much. Nobody broke it.
I didn't break anything, did I? No, I don't think so. Okay, good. Good. Perfect. I'll try my best to be back on Monday.
Well, thank you, Jack. You're going to watch the Mets tomorrow? You're going to park yourself in front of a TV?
What are you going to do? I am definitely going to be watching the Mets tomorrow. I'll be watching all day and NFL on Sunday. And, yeah, I got a full weekend of sports watching, not to complain.
