The Cleveland Browns are facing a tough season with star quarterback Deshaun Watson struggling on the field and off the field with allegations of sexual assault. The team's defense is also dealing with injuries, including the loss of Nick Chubb, who is expected to miss the first four games of the season. The Browns' chances of competing in the AFC North depend on Watson's ability to play at a high level, and the team's future is uncertain if he doesn't improve.

We talked about a lot already. Tyreek Hill says he could have done his traffic stop a little differently. Still believes the officers should get the boot. Mommy Dolphins, the running backs are busted up. Raheem Mostert, out tomorrow night against the Buffalo Bills with a chest injury. Devon A. Chan. This man is dealing with an ankle.

No guarantee that he plays. It is Wednesday. I'm going to share with you a top six list in an hour from now. We're going to take a look at the top six college football upsets this century. Thank you Notre Dame for the inspiration.

How about this? In about 20 minutes from now, we're going to have a conversation with Darrell Ryder from 92-3, the fan. He covers all things Cleveland Browns. I have to ask him about Deshaun Watson. Is the time up on Deshaun? Are the fans sick of him? Do they think this idea of bringing him in, was it worth it? We're going to talk with Darrell about all of that on the other side of the break. We're not going to talk about Darrell. We'll talk with him. And I'm here to talk with you if you want. 855-212-4227.

That's 855-212-4227. And right before we went to break, we had a good conversation about some players who have already made immediate impacts on their new teams. Both Saquon Barkley and Joe Mixon have been named, respectively, NFC and AFC players of the week. Saquon Barkley, three total touchdowns for his new team, the Eagles. Meanwhile, the New York Giants suffer against the Vikings, 28-6. And then Joe Mixon showing up big time for the Houston Texans, 159 yards rushing to go along with a touchdown. And meanwhile, his former team, the Bengals, they suck against what is expected to be one of the worst teams in the NFL this year. The Patriots beat the Bengals 16-10. Wow.

Damn. Well, the Giants are going to suck. We knew that. That's why they let Saquon go. And the Bengals?

Well, we know the Bengals are just cheap. Anyway, I want to share with you in a few minutes some players that unfortunately may not see some action or may not see action this week. But let's hit the phone lines. 855-212-4227. Andre is calling from Las Vegas. You are on the JR Sport Brief Show on the Infinity Sports Network. What's up, Andre? Hey, what's up, JR, man?

Good to hear from you, bro. I just wanted to say something real quick, man. You had me laughing so hard when you said Robert Salah wasn't the head coach and Aaron Rodgers is.

And you're telling the truth, man, because if you're looking to their interviews, Salah sound more like he's the quarterback and Rodgers sound like he's the coach, man. I just had to tell you that, man. I appreciate the show. God bless you, man.

Keep on doing what you're doing, man. And go Ravens. Appreciate it. Thank you so much, Andre, for calling from Las Vegas.

Ravens fan in Las Vegas. I heard it with the accent. Hey, listen up. I wish it was a joke. It's not.

It might be funny, but it's not a joke. Aaron Rodgers probably has more power in the NFL amongst an organization or amongst his own team than any other guy in the entire NFL. Like, if you're Patrick Mahomes, you can be bossy, right?

But what does he have to be bossy about? Like, they drafted him. He has one of the greatest coaches of all time in Andy Reid. He has one of the greatest tight ends of all time in Travis Kelce.

You win in championships. Like, what does Patrick Mahomes have to complain or throw his weight around about? Nothing.

And I'm pretty sure if he wanted to, they'd look at him and just go, man, what are you complaining? Just shut up and sit down. Sit in the corner over there. Tell your wife to put her phone down.

Go talk to Harrison Buckers, who I added. Hickey, that team is starting to get real funny real fast. Think about it. That they are. You are right. Like that team.

I'm going to go through it now. You got Harrison Bucker, who thinks his wife or women, their greatest accomplishments is just having kids and they should stay home, right? You have Travis Kelce, whose girlfriend is an international pop superstar, one of the biggest artists on planet Earth. And then you have Patrick Mahomes, whose wife, even before she decided to like a message by President Trump. She just gets destroyed.

She was getting destroyed before that. Like, people like Patrick Mahomes, but they don't like the guy's wife. Like, what type of locker room conversations do those guys have? Go ahead. Chime in. Feel free.

Hickey, go ahead. I'm trying to think. Because you have so many people from so many different views. I don't know. How can they? I don't know how they relate.

I have no idea. I guess there's one football games, right? I guess so. And I guess, I mean, maybe you don't need locker room chemistry in order to win games and win Super Bowls. We saw the Bulls.

What type of chemistry was that? That's true. You're right about that. Like, what type of conversations were Michael Jordan and Dennis Rodman having?

Like, what cigar are you smoking? It's crazy. They said that these guys never spoke. They just went play basketball. They never spoke.

They just went and played basketball. I can see Harrison Buckert telling Kelsey, hey, man, tell your girl from the dollar back. Tell her, why is she doing so many shows?

You be sitting at home when you're going to give her a baby. Damn. I'm just.

That's my hypothesis. Anyway, Aaron Rodgers. That's the guy who has more. He got more juice than anybody in the NFL.

Am I wrong on that? Is there a guy in the NFL who has more power over a team than him? No, no, no. You're 100 percent right.

That's such a shame. It's like the New York Jets brought him in to punish them. Oh, disastrous. And, you know, since I talked about all these NFL players already moving into week two that are not available. We talked about the Dolphins. They're in action tomorrow against the Buffalo Bills, kicking off week two. Speaking of the Jets. Hassan Riddick is still on that work.

They got the Tennessee Titans coming up next. Somebody tell me. Where is Hassan Riddick? Is Hassan Riddick going to come back to work? Well, you know who had to answer this question? It wasn't Aaron Rodgers, because this is too difficult of a question for him to answer. He did say he would step in if he needed to.

I guess he didn't need to. The assistant head coach of the New York Jets, Rob Salah, said whenever Hassan Riddick shows up, we're going to give him a hug. Regardless of how I feel about it, you know, we've got the guys who are here. We're excited to work with the guys who are here.

And I'll say it again. You know, as soon as he walks through those doors, we can give him a big hug. We can give him the playbook and we're going to get rolling.

And that's something that an assistant coach would say. We're going to give you a hug. Ain't no head coach of the team giving you a hug.

Get tough love and an ass whooping. Aaron Rodgers isn't saying he's giving anybody a hug. He's busy filming his Netflix series Enigma. Anyway, speaking of quarterbacks, we got a former quarterback who is the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings. His name is Kevin O'Connell. The Minnesota Vikings, they just had a good showing to start this season. They were able to smash the New York Giants 28 to 6. Sam Donah looked like a competent quarterback. I guess only against the Giants.

You could do that. It's probably going to stop now. Vikings have the 49ers next. Christian McCaffrey. He still might not play.

And what's the rush? This is the Vikings. And this is supposed to be a long season, like a championship contending season for the San Francisco 49ers. And so we know Justin Jefferson is going to be out there. But what about the second best wide receiver? What about Jordan Addison heading into his second year? He may not be available because his ankle is busted up.

Listen to Kevin O'Connell break it down. As far as participation, really the only injury that, you know, as of right now, he's going to stay in and get some treatment. Taking it a day at a time with Jordan Addison.

But everybody else should participate in some fashion today. Oh, my goodness. I get it. It's the NFL. It's rough. It's tumble. You can get hurt in week one, two, five, ten, eleven, seventeen.

You can feel it at any point. But we got ankle injuries and hamstrings. I mean, come on. T. Higgins. We'll talk about one of the best wide receivers in the game. We talked about Jordan Jefferson.

If we move to Jamar chasing the Bengals coming off of that that terrible defeat at the hands of the Patriots. Go ahead. Name name five Patriots. I dare you. Go ahead.

Try it. The fact is, it's T. Higgins wasn't out there with a hammy. And so what's next? The Bengals have. The Chiefs.

Yeah, the wives and girlfriends group chat is very interesting. Now, we know. Come on. I don't care what Joe Burrow has done.

Against my homes. They went in the damn thing. If T. Higgins ain't out there, at least to help offset the attention on Jamal Chase.

Oh, that's right. Joe Mixon isn't even on the team anymore. This is going to be ugly. Zach Taylor. He said that I ain't got no update on T. Higgins.

Just keep taking it day to day. We'll just we'll just let you see the injury report when it's over. But making good progress. Him and a couple of the guys, Marius, Tanner Hudson is going to be in that boat for a couple of days as well. So there's a couple of guys that will just keep managing through the week.

Sounds depressed already. We haven't even hit week two. Just for just for the hell of it. For my own entertainment purposes. I'd like to see the Kansas City Chiefs beat the living hell out of the Bengals because then I'd like to see Jamal Chase get paid. I don't know if it's going to happen.

Two years left on this deal. But it's fun making fun of the Bengals. It is.

I'm sorry. I don't know between which Ohio team gives me more. Is it the Browns? Is it is it that?

I don't know. I like Ohio. I like I like Ohio State. Cleveland and Cincinnati.

Sometimes they give you reason to kind of look at them funny. Somebody also that showed up to work today. After a couple of off days. Lamar Jackson. Like they started against the Chiefs last Thursday. We saw how that one ended. Isaiah likely's foot.

Out of bounds. Lamar Jackson ran, rushed the ball 16 times for 122 yards. He was asked today, why weren't you at practice on Monday?

What a short answer. I was good. I was good. Just took a day off. There were reports that he was sore. He was good. If you were so damn good, then why did you take a day off? You're feeling good.

Why are you quitting? It's not like he went on vacation. He didn't go to Egypt like Aaron Rodgers. Come on now. Lamar Jackson continued on. He says, Yeah, I got knocked around after that first game, but I'm good.

I'm good. I believe someone was like, I don't like his weight. You know, he lost weight and I don't know how he'll look out there. And, you know, those guys are huge.

And I'm like, at the end of the day, I'm a grown man, too. Just like those guys. So I feel pretty good. Came out the game pretty good.

We're going to keep it going. Look, Lamar Jackson's durability is going to be an issue throughout the course of his career. He said he gained weight a couple of seasons ago last year.

He felt fat. I mean, who's going to argue with him if he's rushing for one hundred and twenty two yards? Although you do want Derrick Henry to share a little bit more of the load. Lamar Jackson isn't lasting through an entire season if he's running with the football 16 times a game.

It's not good. He won't even make it to the postseason for us to go, oh, is he going to stink? Is he going to blow? We won't even know.

Shame. At least we know the Ravens will get to the postseason if he is healthy. That's that's the positive part. And we also know the AFC North is ridiculously competitive. Whether you're taking a look at the Ravens. The Bengals, even though they just lost. You got the Steelers figuring out their quarterback situation. This is tough. And then you got the Browns.

So we're going to take a break and we come back on the other side. I want to key in specifically on the Browns. Deshaun Watson is in the news.

This is already a distraction. Jameis Winston is waiting in the wings. The defense is going to have to carry them. How do the fans feel about all of this? And how the hell are the Browns going to turn things around when they got to pay this guy two hundred and thirty million dollars guaranteed? We're going to have this conversation with Darrell Ryder on the other side of the break. He covers all things Cleveland Browns for ninety two three. The fan in Cleveland will get an insider perspective on what the hell we can expect from the Browns.

Don't go anywhere. It's the J.R. sport brief show on the Infinity Sports Network. You are listening to the J.R. sport brief.

It's the J.R. sport brief show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network coast to coast. And we talked about some teams with some good and some bad. Unfortunately for the Cleveland Browns, they're facing a lot of bad attention right now with their star quarterback, Deshaun Watson, coming off of a bad loss against the Dallas Cowboys this Sunday, where all of America had a chance to watch to talk about these Browns. And Watson and Chubb and the defense and Winston and more. Joining us is Darrell Ryder from ninety two three.

The fan out in Cleveland covers all things Brown. Darrell, how are you, man? I'm doing well. How are you? I'm very well.

Thank you for taking the time to join us. Two hundred and thirty million dollars invested, all guaranteed into Deshaun Watson. What's the overall vibe in Cleveland right now when it comes to his latest issue and his current play? It's not good and understandably so, because on the field, not good.

Off the field, even worse. So, you know, obviously the the most recent allegation made against him is the most severe. The league is looking into it.

This has to get adjudicated in civil court down in Houston, Texas. It is, you know, certainly concerning that he could be suspended again. The allegations certainly are concerning. And then on the field, just what Dallas did to him and how lost he looked at times in that loss to the Cowboys is, you know, it does make you wonder, does he still have it or has all this time off that he has had since he led the NFL in passing during that twenty twenty season, right? He was off in twenty twenty one, didn't play twenty twenty two suspended eleven games. And then last year he missed eleven games because he had to have shoulder surgery. So that's a lot of time off.

And he certainly looks like a quarterback that's had a lot of time off. And our writers joining us from ninety to three to fan in Cleveland, if the Sean can't turn things around. How does his salary or how how would the Browns bounce back from this, if at all?

Well, right now they're stuck. I mean, they just restructured his contract again. You kick the salary cap thing down the road for a third time at some point that bill comes due. And if he doesn't play up to a level that warrants a contract extension, it's going to be very interesting to see the organization and navigate some of the salary cap ramifications that are going to come with not extending them. Because, I mean, that's how they looked at this whole transaction was that this just wasn't about signing to him to that five year, two hundred thirty million dollar guaranteed contract. It was about, hey, he's going to be our quarterback for the next 10 years. And right now, as we talk, I don't know that that's in the cards.

I honestly don't. I haven't seen a whole lot on the field to warrant another contract. And again, with what's going on off the field, there are questions there, too. Outside of injury, is there a possibility that we see Jamis Winston play this year?

From my standpoint, no. They're all in on Deshaun. Kevin Stefanski said today that Deshaun would play on Sunday in the wake of the most recent allegations.

Stefanski is confident that organizationally that they can have the focus on football. Deshaun, I asked him today about that as well. The ability to focus on football and he expressed his ability and desire to do that right now remains to be seen if it's going to bear fruit in the way of positive play. But, you know, there are Browns fans out there that are asking and questioning, you know, hey, we, you know, we we sacrifice the moral high ground to support this guy because he's a Cleveland Browns fan. At what point do we get the benefit as fans of winning some games and him playing really, really well for us doing that?

So it remains to be seen. But right now, Deshaun is the franchise quarterback. He will be on the field in Jacksonville. And I anticipate he will be on the field barring injury for the remainder of the season. Well, Darryl, you mentioned Kevin Stefanski coming off of a Coach of the Year award. We saw what the defense was able to do last year, kind of being the steadying arm of the ship until Flacco came through and took over. We know he's now backing up Anthony Richardson.

Is this too tall of an order for Kevin Stefanski? They're going to have to rely on his defense again. The offense is always going to be shaky the rest of the year, right?

Well, I don't know. I mean, look, they could go down to Jacksonville and blow the doors off the Jaguars, right? I mean, that's just the National Football League. It really is a week to week league. And to be fair, it's just one game. You know, it's not like we're sitting here in week eight and this has been this, you know, sample size of half the season, right? It's one game.

But the red flags are there and you have to acknowledge the red flags. You know, they've had seven series of three or I should say seven consecutive series of three or fewer plays. It's no wonder they didn't do anything on Sunday against Dallas.

Right. They can't go to Jacksonville and repeat that. It's it is a remade offense or whatever you want to say it. Ken Dorsey was basically brought in to help Deshaun Watson five the offense that that's what went on this year.

You know, they wanted to put something together that accentuates what Deshaun does best. And that is make opposing defenses look really silly and stupid when they come after him. Well, on Sunday, Dallas came after him and they beat him up. They hit him 17 times, sacked him six. So Jacksonville presents that similar type of situation up front.

You know, Josh Heinz Allen, Trevon Walker, Arik Armstead. It's a really good front that the Jaguars have. And I got to imagine that they're just looking their chops after watching that game film from last week because there were plays for Watson to make in that game. Despite the pressure, there were opportunities and he just did not see down the field clearly enough to make those plays.

And, you know, it was a mess. And the defense had to keep running out there trying to save the day. I mean, they only gave up two touchdown drives. And look, Jack Prescott threw for less than 200 yards in one touchdown. Going into that game, if you would have told me that line for Jack Prescott, I'm like Brown's boat race the Cowboys easy. And that's obviously not what happened.

In fact, the exact opposite happened. It was the Browns who got boat raced. Darryl Ryder is joining us covers all things Browns for 92-3, the fan in Cleveland.

I want to hit the fast forward button a little bit. We saw that horrific injury by Nick Chubb. Leg went the complete wrong direction. We know he's on injured reserve. We won't see him here at the beginning of the season. If we see him later on in the year, it's probably going to be too late and he may not even be probably still be in the rehab process. We might as well kind of X him off.

What do you think? Is he going to be able to contribute anything? Well, he is on injured reserve and the Browns are hoping that he's on the field between weeks five and seven. And, you know, because he has to miss, not on injured reserve, sorry, he's on physically unable to perform.

I misspoke. Which means he's required to miss the first four games of the season. Then they can, you know, bring him up off pump. He can start practicing and all that kind of stuff and be eligible to play. In fact, as we were leaving practice today, I saw Nick Chubb walking out to watch practice. My expectations for his impact on the field are very low just because I want to be fair and reasonable about it because that injury was so devastating. And that's the second time he has suffered that type of injury to that knee. It's the same knee he got hurt at Georgia.

So I'm trying to be very realistic about the situation. Now, if there's anyone that can come back from this injury and go out there and look like the dude he was before, it's Nick Chubb. So I, you know, fingers crossed because he is just such a great player and he's just so instrumental within that locker room. He's kind of like a quiet assassin. When he speaks, everybody listens, but he doesn't talk often. And that's why everybody listens when he talks. He does his talking with his play. And, you know, he obviously is a very prolific running back when healthy, but I don't know if he's going to be able to return to that form.

And I don't know if it's fair to expect that he's going to return to that form. Well, Darryl, we always know that things in the AFC North happen to be a dogfight. Every team seemingly is dealing with its own issues to a certain degree.

What do you expect? What is the most likely outcome for the Cleveland Browns as they continue with this season? Well, they just put four guys on defense on injured reserve today. Mahmoud Diabate, Tony Fields, Mo Hurst and Juan Thornhill. That's two linebackers, a defensive tackle and a safety for those counting at home. And all four of those guys are pretty significant contributors on defense for the Browns.

So. But good news. All four of those guys are expected back. Those are not seizing any injuries for them. David Njoku not on interview reserve.

The tight end, their Pro Bowl tight end. He's definitely out this week. We'll see in the coming weeks, but they don't think he's going to need to miss the four weeks that I.R.

would require. But if they're able to stay healthy, they're going to be in games because of their defense. At least I'm guessing for me, it's all about the Sean Watson. He's just he's got to play at a level that's like better than the thirty five other quarterbacks that played here before him. And we just we certainly didn't see that on Sunday. So if he continues to play like he did against Dallas, this team is going to struggle.

But if he's able to recapture that magic that he had with the Houston Texans and show us that player, then the Browns are not only going to compete for the division, but I think they could be a thorn in somebody's side come playoff time. And now if it if it doesn't work with Deshawn, what are we looking at? Are we looking back to the dog pound with bags over their heads?

Are we going back there in a few years? What's worst case scenario if Deshawn doesn't find it? I don't even want to think about the worst case scenario because they're still on the hook for two more years after this year.

So it's not my money, but you're in. Here's why it's concerning, because you're in the prime years of Miles Garrett's career, right? Joel Patonio, their outstanding offensive guard, who I think should be a Hall of Fame candidate when he retires. He may retire this year. He may play another year next year. Remains to be seen. But he's at the end of his career.

Wyatt Teller, their other outstanding guard. You know, does he become a salary cap casualty in future years? Right.

Nick Chubb, you know, coming off the injury. Don't know what you're getting from him. Don't know what the future holds there.

Right. Amari Cooper. This is probably his last year in Cleveland. They just brought Jerry Jerry Judy here from Denver. Gave him a contract extension. So they're obviously, you know, counting on and committed to him.

Denzel Ward. He's had five concussions now. How much longer can he keep playing at a Pro Bowl level and keep him safe and himself safe, I should say?

And healthy. The bottom line that I'm getting to there is that the core of this team is in the prime. This this is the winning window for the Cleveland Browns. This is their window of contention and why they went through one in 15 and 0 and 16. So they could draft Myles Garrett and Nick Chubb and David Njoku and, you know, make the trade for Deshaun Watson, make the trade for Amari Cooper and Elijah Moore and, you know, Jerry Judy and things like that.

Right. I mean, they've extended the some of the guys that they've drafted to keep the core of the team together. But the reality is the core of the team is getting older. This was a couple of years ago, the youngest roster in the NFL.

Now, here we are in 2024. They're one of the older rosters in the NFL. So I don't even want to think about if this thing with Deshaun does not work out the trouble that this franchise could find itself in. They you know, I really hope they don't have to go back to a rebuild here, but I don't know.

Maybe they maybe they get forced into that corner. Only time will tell. And obviously it's up to how Deshaun plays. Well, Darryl, as we start to wrap things up, the former quarterback of the Browns, he's having a lot of success down in Florida. Is there an understanding that Baker Mayfield might have peaked with the Browns or is there a section of the fan base that goes, we should have never changed things up? Well, there is a segment of the fan base saying that they should have never moved on from Baker.

But here's what I say to those fans. I don't think Baker Mayfield is the player today without going through what he went through. I don't think the big the player he is for Tampa Bay is the player that Cleveland Browns would have gotten had he continued here.

I feel like where he's always been at his best in his football life is he is when he's counted out, when he gets kicked and knocked down and things like that. Right. He gets that edge and it gives him a competitive edge, I should say, with the Browns. He wasn't an underdog. He was the number one pick in the draft.

Right. So I understand fans frustrations when they see Baker throw for four touchdowns, when Deshaun Watson can't throw for a single touchdown or more than one touchdown in the game, I should say. I understand the frustration, but I feel like it's an apples to oranges comparison just because I don't feel like Baker would have been the same guy had he stayed with the Browns. And he kind of unfortunately needed to go through some of the trials and tribulations following his departure from Cleveland. And that's made him the player he is with Tampa Bay. And, you know, certainly good for him. It's great to see. But that is what I would say to those Browns fans right now that are just wringing their hands in frustration, watching Baker Mayfield be successful while Deshaun Watson struggles.

All of this after one week. We've been chatting with Darryl Ryder from 92-3, the fan in Cleveland. And Phil, where can people follow you and all your work as you follow the Browns? At right or wrong fan on Twitter and or X or whatever they're calling it these days.

And then also our station website, 92-3, the fan dot com, where they can read up on all the latest with Deshaun and the never ending saga of him on as well as off the field. And you're going to be a legal expert by the time we're done with the season down. I feel like I needed a law degree. You need to cover the Cleveland Browns. You need a law degree.

You need a medical license. It's never ending. But they are they're one of the teams that a lot of folks around the country pay attention to.

They've got a very passionate fan base that just wants to see their team finally win a Super Bowl. But I don't know when that's going to be. We'll see what happens the rest of this year. Dowell, thank you again for the time. We'll catch you down the line. My pleasure. Thanks for having me. No doubt about it. That Dowell Ryder from 92-3, the fan out in Cleveland, covers all things Browns. What a wild week it's been. Not just Deshaun Watson is bad on the football field on Sunday and then gets hit with a lawsuit. Another allegation of sexual assault on Monday.

This is just in the span of two days. It's the JR Sport Brief Show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. There's a commissioner, a sports commissioner, didn't handle things the right way, apparently, when it came to other issues of abuse, online abuse, sexualization, etc. I'm talking about the WNBA commissioner feeling a little bit of the heat right now. We're going to get into that on the other side of the break.

At the top of the hour, I'm going to share with you a top six list of college football upsets, some of the biggest upsets we have seen in college football this century. You are listening to the JR Sport Brief. The JR Sport Brief Show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. 855-212-4227.

That's 855-212-4227. Thank you to Dowell Ryder from 92-3, the fan out in Cleveland, covers all things Browns for coming through and giving us the lowdown, really. As I think we all know, it will be catastrophic if Deshaun Watson doesn't work out in Cleveland. Two hundred and thirty million dollars guaranteed. They continue to restructure this contract, as Dowell Ryder shared with us. And if he doesn't work, the Browns aren't going to work. And this is just going to be like a poor arranged marriage.

At the top of the hour, I'm going to give you a new top six list. Deshaun Watson probably wishing he can go back to Clemson. Probably not.

Doesn't have two hundred and thirty million waiting for him. But the fact of the matter is, I'm going to share with you a top six list of college football upsets that have taken place this century. Yeah, I'm thinking about the past. I don't know. Twenty four ish years. Twenty twenty two thousand one. Yeah. Twenty three years. Twenty four years.

No, we're not going to talk about upsets that took place in 1927. Keep it current. We'll do that at the top of the hour.

Speaking of keeping things current. 855-212-4227. We're going to have a chat with Josh. Josh is here on the JR Sport Brief Show, the Infinity Sports Network. What's up, Josh? Hey, JR. How are you tonight? I'm amazing. How are you? Pretty good. I always love listening to your show. I always think you put out good content. Thank you. Thank you.

Yeah. I just wanted to get your thoughts on how the baseball season is going. You know, it's like right at the season ended today. You know, the leading league teams are the Guardians and the Phillies and how the White Sox have, I think, 114 losses. I'm just wondering what you think of how the baseball season is winding down.

Well, I think it's good that we have a little bit. We got parity. And I don't know if that's such a good thing, especially when you think about a lot of the injuries that teams have suffered throughout the course of the year.

But then if you look back at it over the past forever, like there is parity every single year. We have a new team that just kind of pops up out of nowhere to compete and win the World Series. They have so many teams that now get a chance and an opportunity to enter into the tournament.

It's a long season. And this is what this is what baseball wants. And I guess it's good overall for the game that every year you get another team that pops up. Who would have thought that last year we would have had the Rangers?

I consider them to be a joke. And then the Diamondbacks, which are pretty much anonymous. And so I don't know, maybe this year we get the Dodgers if their pitching can actually strap anything together, you know, taking on the Yankees.

I don't know. But this is what we've had. I think the Kansas City Royals.

Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt you. I think the Kansas City Royals are a team to really watch out for the playoffs this year. Well, I tell you, there's a lot of people in Kansas City and they've been calling me in New York for quite some time now when it comes down to Bobby Witt Jr. not getting the attention and the respect that he deserves. And so if the Royals are to go on any type of a run, that would be I don't want to call it a pacifier. But I'll tell you this, Josh, for a guy who sits here and talks about sports that encompasses the whole country, every now and then there'll be a pocket of a fan base.

Why they care, I don't know, but there'll be a pocket, whether it's a team in Sacramento or Kansas City or Toronto or or where have you. They go, why are you not talking about us? Why are you not talking about us?

It's because the majority of the country in North America, you know, we got some key touch points and a team like the Royals, if they are able to get into the postseason and they start going on a run like, I don't know, when they hickey. Sorry about this. Do you remember they played the Mets in the World Series? You remember that hickey? Yes, I remember very well.

Sorry about that. If they go on one of those runs like that again, Josh, then they'll they'll be in the public eye. And I think people will finally shut up about Bobby Witt and how people don't pay attention to him. Right before you right before we're done here, I just wanted to also ask you a story on how is it possible that the Chicago White Sox have 114 losses and the season is not even over? It's mismanagement. You can thank Mr. Reinsdorf for that. And, you know, letting go Ken Williams and giving him the boot.

Look, and this is this is any team, really. And thank you, Josh, for calling from Philly. I appreciate you.

No problem. No doubt about it. You have to want to win. Like, yeah, you want to put butts in seats, but the owners, they are going broke by having a losing season.

And there's enough revenue sharing for everybody where you can still go, well, man, I got I got welfare out here. You know, historically, the Pirates have been awful and terrible in their ownership group. Mr. Bob Nutting said one of the worst things I've ever heard in my life is like, yeah, if the fans actually showed up, we'd be able to actually invest into the team.

And then when the fans did show up, they did not invest into the team. It's it's like everything else. It's a business. And the owners know that the fans are just a number. It don't matter who you are, where you live.

You're just a number. Are you coming and spending? Yeah, good. And let's call it there. White Sox are going to be bad for a very long time. 33 and 114. They're going to be historically bad.

What do we got here? 33 wins. The next worst team. Oh, my goodness. 33. Marlins have 54. Is that the Rockies have 54? Is that really the next 33 to 54?

Damn. Even the athletics. They have 63 wins. And they're literally sucking the life out of that team as they exit out of the Bay Area. The athletics have six. The Angels have six. I always say they should just move the Angels to Vegas. You got the Dodgers and then that other team. There's no need for the Angels. That's more appropriate. They could have kept the name and everything.

It'd be an oxymoron. The lost Las Vegas Angels, right? Could have worked out. Yeah.

Plan, plan words. I think the fans would have bought in for sure. Is it too late?

Too late to switch the teams? Probably right. No, I mean, look, who even knows if the stadium is going to get built in Vegas? So maybe they'll be, you know, more expeditious if it's a more local team compared to the A's. They said when the A's go up to Sacramento to play part time in that triple triple A's stadium is going to be like 110 degrees out there, man. Good thing they thought this through clearly. Yeah.

Great planning. They're going to be stuck in Sacramento for like 10 years. Watch. It's not going to be funny, but baseball fans in certain regards, they deserve better. That's what happens when you have, well, a commissioner who works for a bunch of, I don't call the owners baseball slumlords, but.

That's what they are, a grifters, more appropriate of a word, trying to take from the cities and the municipalities just to take their free money.
