It is! The JR Sportbrief Show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. 855-212-4227 is the number.
That's 855-212-4227. Monday Night Football is upon us. You don't have to wait too much long. In about 15 minutes, the San Francisco 49ers are going to start their season against the New York Jets. I have an update about some players who will not be playing in the game momentarily. And we've had a full show already. I get started every single weekday at 6pm Eastern, 3 Pacific. You can always listen on the free Odyssey app, your local Infinity Sports Network affiliate, Sirius XM Channel 158, and a smart speaker if you have one.
Ask the speaker to play the Infinity Sports Network. We've had a busy show so far. Thank you all so much to Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times for joining us last hour to talk about Caleb Williams and his debut with the Chicago Bears.
Not the best of debuts, but the Bears, they get a win due to special teams in defense. We got another guest who's going to be joining us. In about 20 minutes, we're going to have a conversation with Joe Reedy from the Associated Press to talk all things Chargers. Yeah, that's another California team.
They walked away with a victory as well yesterday. And I told you we got another California team that's going to get ready to play in about 15 minutes as the San Francisco 49ers open up their season against the New York Jets. Unfortunately, Christian McCaffrey has been ruled out. He's done. He's not playing today. He's been dealing with a calf issue and Achilles issue here throughout the training camp period. Christian McCaffrey, one of the best running backs and the highest paid running back in the entire NFL, will not participate in this game tonight.
Also, there will be no Hassan Riddick. I think we all saw the writing on the wall there after being traded to the New York Jets. He didn't play in training camp, didn't show up in training camp.
I guess I could say that. Didn't play in preseason, wasn't at work, has already forfeited $5 million in fines, and he will now miss out on an approximate $800,000 game check. He's not there. Hassan Riddick won't be there to chase Christian McCaffrey or Brock Burdie. Trent Williams is at work. And all things considered, Aaron Rodgers. Aaron Rodgers is, he going to be at work, too, if he can last for more than four snaps.
Matter of fact, let's listen to Aaron Rodgers. He said that whether we win or lose in San Francisco or Santa Clara tonight, it's just one game. Regardless of what happens on Monday, we win. The headline is going to be, you know, we're going to Super Bowl. We lose, same old Jets.
I think we need to get away from some of those outside themes. Massive exaggeration. Come on now, brother. Come on, man. If we win this game, we're going to the, no, bro. Come on.
You ain't been a New York Jet long enough. Let's, let's try to make a little bit of sense. Let's, let's not go that far. Brock Burdie, though, the 49ers, they're expected to go to the Super Bowl because they've been quite a few times over the last few years, either that or NFC Championship game. And they just haven't won. Brock Burdie, who's looking to make about that $60 million that Dak Prescott got yesterday. Brock Burdie says, yeah, Brandon Iuke was late to work and Trent Williams was late to work and Christian McCaffrey dealing with a calf. Our offense is good.
We all understand like how we move, how we operate and how we need to play within the system and with each other. So, you know, Trent was gone for a little bit, obviously, but when he's come back in, it feels good. It feels natural again, back in the huddle.
And when I'm dropping back with him there and same with BA and his routes, throwing him for the last week or so, it all just feels pretty normal. And those were comments made by Brock Burdie prior to us knowing that Christian McCaffrey was going to be ruled out for tonight's game. That was announced, I want to say about an hour, 90 minutes ago.
A few other things that have been announced today, earlier today. Deshaun Watson is also facing, unfortunately, another case of sexual assault. No, you are not in a time warp. I did not go back in time. Neither did you. This is a new case that was filed today, completely unrelated to anything that has taken place over the past few years. And we know, or maybe you watched that terrible game by Deshaun Watson as the Dallas Cowboys smashed the Browns 33 to 17. Also, earlier in the show, we talked about Tyreek Hill's situation. Not having clarity, Tyreek Hill, you know, pretty much saying that, you know, the cops, I was respectful. The police and the union saying that he took the approach of not being cooperative with the police, led to him being cited twice for speeding, also not wearing a seatbelt.
Tyreek Hill, not in the best of situations. And Hickey, tell me, the police, we saw the union stand by, the cops and the union stand by the cops. There's dash cam footage or body cam footage now? The body cam footage, yes, has been released. You get a first person POV of the arresting officer knocking on Tyreek Hill's window multiple times. Their frustration was that Tyreek Hill did not roll down the window initially. And then Tyreek Hill was getting upset that they were banging on his window.
So there was a little bit of a disagreement there. Tyreek Hill ended up, after rolling down the window, rolling it back up. Officers wanted it down and he was not cooperating. So they opened the door to get him out of the car.
And there are definitely, you could definitely say there was, the force used was not necessary to get Tyreek Hill out of the car. And then he was immediately removed from the car. And that's when he goes right face down, laying down on the ground. That's when they put the handcuffs on him. If you've seen any videos yesterday of Tyreek Hill on the ground, that's when that happened. He was only on the ground for about 20 seconds or so, lifted him back up, eventually moved him to the curb.
He's on the side of the road, right next to the stadium. So they move him from essentially the middle of the street, looked like maybe the right lane to the sidewalk. And then officers are still talking to him. As this is happening, that is when Kaleis Campbell comes from the officer's right hand side. I couldn't identify, there's another teammate who pulled in front of Tyreek Hill's car on the side of the road. And he came from the left side. And one dash cam, body cam footage I saw, they were talking to the other teammate, not Kaleis Campbell. And they were ready to give him a ticket because they still told him, basically, you can't be here.
You gotta leave, go. He's trying to ask questions of why Tyreek Hill was getting arrested right in front of his eyes. And then it was about a three, three and a half minute video. The last thing you see on this, at least the initial video, and this is the only one I've seen so far in social media, Tyreek Hill is at this point standing on the sidewalk and the officers want him down on the ground. He is handcuffed, so it's not like he can go down easily. And one officer comes from behind almost kind of, I mean, it looked like from my perspective, put him in a chokehold, kind of throws him down to the ground. And meanwhile, Tyreek Hill is saying, I just had knee surgery, just had knee surgery, basically, like, you don't have to like, ease up sort of thing.
And that's when the three and a half minute video does end. Oh, my goodness. So he didn't necessarily, so we get a little bit of the truth in all regards here, right? Like, he wasn't as cooperative as he said he was. And then on the reverse, they were also aggressive. So there we go. Yes, I think you're right. Both sides here are in some sort of wrong. You can argue who's more wrong. But both sides are not exact.
No, both sides are not innocent. He rolled the window down when they asked him to. And then they were ticked off and aggressive with him after the fact. Exactly right. Okay. And this is the man who said that he says he was raised to do the right thing.
Well, I mean, the first thing, just roll the window down. That's that's part of it now. Two wrongs, two wrongs. Don't don't make a right.
And so now that this has been shared, I guess we can put this to sleep now. I know Tyreek said that he wanted to be forward facing when it comes to interactions with the police in Miami-Dade. Is that something that you can do if you have to take some of the responsibility?
Like, you can't put a magic eraser to everything. But you said, a matter of fact, let's listen to what Tyreek Hill said that led to his arrest. Here it is what he said yesterday. I have no idea for real. No idea. No idea, man.
It's crazy. No idea. I wasn't disrespectful, you know, because my mom didn't raise me that way. Didn't cuss and do none of that. So like I said, I'm still trying to figure it out, man. What if I wasn't Tyreek Hill?
Lord knows like what that guy or guys would have did. You feel me? And I was just making sure that, you know, I was doing doing what my uncle always told me to do. Whenever you were in a situation like that, just listen, put your hands on the steering wheel. Just listen.
So got to be careful, man. Yeah, well, from the get go, apparently he may not have listened. And the comments to this online are as expected, kind of go one way or the other, because there's never room for the middle with anything right now. People online saying you can't roll your windows back up with dark tints on the cops like that. People are saying there are too many cops.
And so we get a mixed bag. People will just kind of move this in whatever direction that they feel fits whatever they need to say. But it appears that he should have done a better job by listening to the cops. And the cops also didn't necessarily have to be so aggressive with him. How this gets sorted out, Tyreek Hill has to figure out what he does moving forward. But the police, they're the ones who put one of their own on administrative leave, on leave, I should say. And so they're going to have to answer. But there's a reason why they put out this dash cam footage. And I don't know what you do from here. It's up to Tyreek Hill to say, okay, well, how can we now bridge the gap? I mean, if there's going to be any type of anything constructive that comes out of this, I think it'd have to be cooperation to say, hey, this is how you behave during a traffic stop. And it's going to have to be some fessing and owning up by both sides. 855-212-4T227.
That's 855-212-4227. Picky man, we're minutes away from Aaron Rodgers starting the game. He's going to play the whole game, right? I hope so.
I really hope so. Yeah, he'll make it. 16 games. He'll miss one game due to an ankle sprain, and then he'll play the other games. Wow, I feel like it's the most optimistic I've heard you about the Jets in a while.
Really? Honestly, I was expecting you to say he's going to play five plays this year. I have no expectations for the Jets, ever.
Ever. The last time I saw you play ever. The last time there was realistic hope that the New York Jets were going to do something, Vinny Testaverde was their quarterback. And he almost did the same thing that Aaron Rodgers did.
He blew out his Achilles early. And they were cooked. They were done. And so to think almost 25 years later, deja vu, I had deja vu. And so I got no hope.
I will not believe anything about the Jets until they do it, man. That's just what it is. Are you superstitious? Nah, not at all. Not at all.
Okay. There's someone here who works next to us at our New York station, WFAN. Big Jets fan. Joe Benigno? No, not Joe. Paul Rosenberg. Oh yeah, I know Paul.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know Paul. What's he doing? He is working tonight. He is wearing a Mike Nugent Jets jersey. Oh my God. Why that's significant is he wore that exact jersey for week one last year where Aaron Rodgers got hurt.
Is he tempting fate by wearing the same jersey one year apart after the savior for the Jets, who he was supposed to be, gets hurt after fourth place? What is this? What do we call that? Reverse luck?
Is that how that works? Yeah, I guess. He's not, look, whatever. Tempting fate?
I love Paulie, but whatever he wears has no bearing on what a 40-year-old does, okay? Nothing. Okay, so not superstitious at all. No, I don't care. I'm walking under ladders. I'm opening umbrellas. Stepping on cracks? Yeah, I'm stepping on cracks.
I'm doing hopscotch on the cracks, man. I do not care about none of that stuff. Do you have a black tattoo at home? No, I don't have one.
I used to have one, but not right now. Okay. Yeah, I got no issues with that stuff, hickey. I just know the Jets are... Bad things happen to, I don't want to say bad, bad people. It's just, it's somewhere along the line. The Jets have tested the football gods and they just said, you're screwed.
And sometimes people just can't get out of their own way. And the Jets happen to be in that space. 855-212-4227. Casey is calling from Knoxville. You're on the JR Sport Brief Show.
What's going on, man? I'm good. Go ahead, Casey, quickly.
Hey, quickly. Did you say last week that Justin Fields wouldn't win in Atlanta? Did I say he wouldn't win in Atlanta? No, I don't remember saying such thing. No. Are you sure? I'm positive because I don't, I don't necessarily make predictions like that at all. Okay. I thought I called in and we talked about him possibly playing 80% of the plays and winning the game.
No, I don't, I don't recall that. No, I don't, I don't think there's a world where I would say where anyone would win or lose. I would tell you what I think is going to happen. But at that point there was no certainty as to whether or not Russell Wilson would even be playing. So for you to tell me about something that you told me last week and I made a response saying this when we wouldn't even know if Justin Fields would play, that doesn't sound like it makes too much sense. Okay. Give me a prediction for the nice score.
I don't do that. I think the 49ers will win. But of course, without Christian McCaffrey, it's going to be a little bit more difficult. We'll see.
I think Christian McCaffrey being out evens the odds. Alright, I'm going to go 26-20. Same friend tonight. I hope you win some money, Casey. Book it down, baby. No, thank you. I won't.
It's the JR Sportbree Show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. We're going to take a break. When we come back on the other side. Yeah, I'm going to give the 49ers the edge at home against the New York Jets, but I'll tell you this.
We come back on the other side of the break. We're going to talk about another California team. They actually already walked away with a victory. That's the Chargers. They ended up knocking off the Raiders. The final score there, 22-10. And we saw a returning Jim Harbaugh play his style of football. How long is it going to last with JK Dobbins and Herbert? Is he going to now stay healthy?
What can we expect from these Chargers going forward? Joe Reedy is going to join us from the AP, the Associated Press. On the other side, it's the JR Sportbree Show on the Infinity Sports Network. You're listening to the JR Sportbree.
It's the JR Sportbree Show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. We have one California team in action right now, starting off this season in Santa Clara. That happens to be the 49ers. And yesterday, we had another California team.
They got started yesterday. Also with a returning Jim Harbaugh. The Chargers knocked off the Raiders, 22-10. The Chargers start their season 1-0.
JK Dobbins rushes for his life, leading him to the victory. To talk about the Chargers, the win, what we can look forward to as the season continues on is Joe Reedy from the Associated Press. Joe, thank you for taking the time. No problem. How are you doing?
I'm very well, thank you. Looking at what the Chargers did, no shock. Same amount of pass plays as run plays, 27.
JK Dobbins runs for 135. This is what we expected from Jim Harbaugh. How sustainable is this as they move forward throughout the course of the year? It's an interesting question because I think they'll want to be physical as an offense and as a defense. But I think in terms of the offensive game plan, it'll change depending on opponent. I think the run game can be sustainable. For the first time since, I think, 2018 when the Chargers made the playoffs, they actually have two good and dependable running backs. So that if the one running back struggles, kind of like what Gus Edwards did yesterday, you can go to a JK Dobbins and get a lift and stuff. And I think that that's really going to help down the line. I think my concerns with the offense is still, you know, this receiver group.
It's inexperienced. Ladd-McConkie had a solid game yesterday, especially that move he put on to get the touchdown in the fourth quarter, but Josh Palmer struggled a little bit. Quinton Johnson, for the most part, was decent and played well, but I think you're going to need a passing game in some of these games down the line in order to see massive improvement. Defensively, I think this can be sustained the entire year because stuff that I saw during the preseason, even without Bosa Mack and Derwin James and carried in with those three coming in. So I think defensive, sustainable, offense is still a work in progress.
Well, Joe, we know if anybody has the largest or biggest adjustment to make, I guess it would be Justin Herbert. Typically over the past few seasons, he's been tasked with just getting the ball down the field and the rushing game catching up. What type of adjustment should we expect from him this year, especially with these unsettled wide receivers? I think there'll be a little bit more intermediate passing game where I think in the past it's been too much of a short passing game and then a little bit going deep.
I think maybe it'll be an offensive style to its first season in the league in 2020, where there was an emphasis on sticking with the run game, and that helped open up the deep passing game. And I think that can happen here just with the attention and wanting to, come heck or high water, stick with the run game, even when it struggles with the chance of getting a couple big runs and springing stuff like what we saw with Dobbins yesterday. And I think we saw more of the intermediate passing in the second half develop. Hurst with a big reception into Chargers territory, sorry, into Raiders territory during the second half yesterday, which opened things up. I think that the receivers will mature as the season goes on. I still think they got to maybe pick up another one or two receivers to see how things go, but I think he'll improve as the season goes along. And I think as we see from a lot of these quarterbacks and skill position players, they don't play in the preseason. So yesterday is kind of a first and second preseason game all into one. And that's why now the improvement between the first and second regular season game is the biggest jumps because all these starters are getting in and getting their feet beneath them.
AP sports writer Joe Reedy is joining us here on the JR Sport Reshow Coast to Coast. You got to tell me, man, the team, they got the Panthers up next. You want to talk about starting a season?
I get it. You can't look a gift horse in the mouth, but they're fully expected to start the season 2-0 now. Which would be the first time since 2012.
Never happened during Tom Tolesco's 10 years general manager. But you know, you know, and I know the NFL is the biggest roller coaster reaction in the NFL. I mean, nobody expected New England to go in and beat Cincinnati, especially as a nine point favorite in week one. And Carolina is going to be at home in week two, and Chargers got to be the first of two straight games on the East Coast. Now they're going to stay in Carolina after the Panthers game, not to come back cross-country and then get the Steelers in week three. But in the history of this series, and granted it's only been 30 years and they played six or seven times, Chargers have only one win over the Panthers.
And it happened in 2004. So the last three, four times they've played, the Panthers have had the upper number. But you know, they're going to be heavily favored on the road in week two. And I also think the mentality of this team, because Harbaugh immediately in the locker room after this game is like, you know, the biggest jump everybody makes is between game one and game two. So even the players said there's still plenty of meat on the bone because they felt like they lost a lot out there yesterday, especially the first half in terms of penalties and offense really didn't get things into gear for two and a half quarters.
So I think there's the good mentality that you have a nice win, one and oh, but there's still plenty of improvement to be made. You talk about coach Harbaugh, has he fully been embraced by the team in the charge of fans? We know he can be quite quirky and some of his comments says we haven't reached peak Harbaugh yet, have we?
No, we've reached peak Harbaugh in a little bit of it. He had a couple of the enthusiasm unknown to mankind during his press conference, press conferences last week, ended things in the locker room with who has it better than us, nobody. But this team fully buys in to what he wants because there's a genuine care that he gives to these players, that he believes in them and he wants what's the best for him. I mean, he's bench pressing with them, he's catching medicine balls with them.
He means a lot. The one thing that his brother and him both do in the locker room last week, there were old work shirts in there that he got for each player. It's time to go to work and this is the blue collar mentality that we have and really it was stressed in pre-season workouts and going into the season because when you go into the Chargers locker room, it has the player's name on there, but it also has their hometown, college, and their high school recruiting ranking. And when you see somebody like a Zion Johnson who had zero stars, and granted there are plenty of five-star guys in there, but when you see that a Zion Johnson began his road to the NFL as a zero-star recruit and went to the University of Virginia and ended up being a first-round pick, and you know there's some two or three-star guys in that locker room too, that it kind of shows that it's all roads to get to the NFL.
I mean, and to kind of seal Harbaugh's quote too, none of this team was born on third base. They've had to go out, they've had to go out and earn it and I think there's a general belief from everyone in what they're selling and even Derwent James said it yesterday, in his seven years here, this was the first true complimentary football game that he can remember where defense picks up the offense and offense brought it home and you know all the cylinders were clicking. Having said that Joe, when you think about the optimism surrounding the team, but then also some of the elements that you mentioned that need some work like the wide receiver group, what do you expect for the conclusion? What is the most likeliest outcome you know for this team? It's quite competitive already in the AFC West.
We know you got the the Chiefs. Are they positioned to battle for a wild-card spot? Yeah, nine and eight or ten and seven I could see and I think the one thing that we've got to watch too, and this is when we're watching both divisions in terms of wild-card and the AFC, AFC North faces the AFC West this year and there's going to be a lot, there's going to be those matchups that really are going to loom large when we get into tiebreakers and everything because I think everybody looks at the AFC North and kind of thinks, hey can all three wild-card spots come out of there? Can they get two wild-card teams again out of the North? Those meetings between the between AFC North and AFC West it's going to loom large a lot in terms of how this wild-card race develops where you know it could help out a couple of AFC East teams too and you know we look at Buffalo, the Jets and Miami that you know that could help them down the line too in terms of wild-card.
Well we'll see what happens, certainly beating up on the Raiders and smacking around the Broncos from time to time won't hurt. Joe, where can people follow you, your work, all of your writings with the AP? I'm on Twitter at Joe Reedy, J-O-E-R-E-E-D-Y and then on AP news one of the good things about the upgrade that we've had to add on the site lately is that you can search for writer pages and if you do a keyword search for Joe Reedy all my stories come up there not just on the Chargers but sports media and also Dodgers and what have you and including a little UCLA having their first Big Ten game this Saturday. Awesome, well you certainly going to be busy, enjoy all of the other harbotisms that come your way for the next four or five months Joe okay? No problem, thanks again. Thank you so much that Joe Reedy covers all things Southern California, Los Angeles football for the Associated Press and Chargers this is like best case scenario of course best case scenarios for any team to go out there and win any game but having knocked off the Raiders and then having the Panthers next they are certainly setting themselves up to have a great start to the season and no guarantees here you talked about the wide receiver group Quentin Johnston certainly a disappointment last year in his rookie year lad mcconkey going to be able to be keyed in on Hayden Hurst he let me tell you son I'm telling he he ain't the guy at tight end that you want out there you know catching the passes so Justin Herbert going to be a hell of an adjustment based on what he's used to have done in the past you know getting it out to Allen and Eckler and what have you good on Harbaugh I'm just waiting on the next crazy quote that we get it might be related unrelated to Michigan we'll see I need you to think O'Reilly Auto Parts for all of your car care needs get guaranteed low prices and excellent customer service from the professional parts people at O'Reilly Auto Parts it's the JR sport we show here with you on the infinity sports network when we come back unfortunately I have to talk to you about a couple of teams well they didn't start so well they stink it's the New York Giants you're listening to the JR sport brief it's the JR sport brief show here with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network thank you so much to Joe Reedy from the associated press coming through to join us to talk a little bit of charges football and I expect now I say expect I expect them to beat the panthers next week come on now and if they don't what uh and they I don't know they hickey they're gonna beat the panthers right they're not gonna disappoint us if they don't fire Jim Harbaugh come on start the movement or send them send them back to Michigan they can use his help right make them coach this year's Wolverines and no Connor Stallions there's your punishment that that and Connor Stallions now did you see and I don't know if this is true or not I feel like I saw it in passing you know you swipe through things you open something up and then it just disappears I feel like Connor Stallions like coached the game for height okay here it is there you go Connor Stallions is acting a high school head coach loses first game 60 to nothing you didn't you didn't see that one did you huh no I did you see the story of him I guess allegedly getting a high school like defensive coordinator job and then the high school basically said no you're not the coach and he said well you hired me so I'm the coach right and he had this back and forth of well was he actually hired or not I did not see that he actually now got a promotion of some sort to head coach and well here we go oh no uh USA Today according to USA Today as social media was making jokes at Michigan's expense that the key missing piece against Texas was Connor Stallions the Wolverine's former staffer was mulling over the results of his first game as interim head coach of a Detroit high school Stallions implicated in the alleged Stein stealing Stein stealing scandal at Michigan was hired at Mumford High School as a volunteer volunteer defensive coordinator before the start of the season between week one and two he was named acting head coach when head coach William McMichael was hospitalized due to a mild stroke okay uh Mumford has won just one game in both of the last two seasons and now they lost 60 to nothing they also lost 47 to 6 in his first game so it's not just Connor Stallions they just kinda are not good wow that'll look good on the resume yeah and good luck and all the best to their their coach of Mumford who unfortunately suffered a stroke hospitalized due to a mild stroke all the best to him but uh you see Connor Stallion's name pop up it's just it's not good he has to be somebody's friend like why the hell else would you hire that guy he's bad juju you know like his name associated with a high school program is not even good why does he just why are you going to sell a little bit more private right I mean guy loves football he loves football and Michigan I guess he can't have Michigan now maybe ever again after this so he's going to hold that hope that I mean I guess what he's thinking in his mind probably if I am you know redeem myself as a head coach maybe one day I'll be back at Michigan is that I think that's not oh come on no no did you waste your time watching the Netflix doc oh of who his yeah no I didn't see it yet I also learned today that Aaron Rodgers has a Netflix documentary coming out as well did you see that no I did not about him you know coming back the bounce back that's what happens for everybody you know you you get knocked down you bounce back and uh now we got an Aaron Rodgers uh Netflix uh I don't know if it's a show or a series I could tell you this much it is highly unlikely that I sit down and watch it let's just put it that way yeah I can't say I uh disagree with that one you're not you're not going to be sitting around on a Friday night getting ready to watch Aaron Rodgers on Netflix no here we go what is this thing called Aaron Rodgers Netflix docu-series to believe to be released December 17th okay hmm the title Enigma okay there we go Enigma to follow the quarterback's comeback after Achilles injury uh now do me a favor if this is launching on December 17th it's a three episode documentary um why like wouldn't now or three weeks ago be like the right time to put this out what happens if the Jets think in December I mean this is it's like Angel Reese starting her podcast right before she she breaks her wrist you know like at the end of the year while she's in a playoff chase like timing counts with some of these things doesn't it it does yes at least with Angel Reese's case like the podcast is current like I don't like how do they say how much of this season will be featured I mean I don't know because it sounds like it's on the recovery it's mostly last year right yeah that's last year as as this year's and this is actual the release from Netflix this year's NFL season gets underway that during his Achilles but game day Enigma three part document will reveal a side of Rodgers that few get to see so we don't have uh we don't get all that much information there we go whatever anyway right now they're in a good mood Breece Hall scored a touchdown the New York Jets lead San Francisco a seven to three now speaking of New York the other New York football team they got worse worse luck than the Jets come on now the Giants lost yesterday 26 or excuse me 28 to 6 Sam Donald walked into the building threw two touchdown passes and Daniel Jones he threw one two to the wrong team he threw a touchdown pass to the Vikings linebacker they were burning Daniel Jones jersey outside of the stadium after the game this guy stinks since he signed that new contract before last season after they beat the Minnesota Vikings in the postseason Daniel Jones has passed for two touchdowns to go along with eight interceptions they gave him a four-year 160 million dollar contract so if you want to talk about bad deals and contracts in the NFL you could certainly take a look at Deshaun Watson who today is now facing a brand new lawsuit that was filed in Texas following allegations of sexual assault you can then certainly take a look at Daniel Jones who thank God for him the issues with him only happen to be around decision making an injury and now he has a new wide receiver in the league neighbors he was able or they were able to connect for 66 yards in the air but they could not connect for a real score that was going to make a difference and so after the game as the fans booed Daniel Jones as they burned his jersey outside of the stadium ben simmons style the head coach brian day ball he said that well he's still their quarterback i thought they got good effort i thought the defense played hard you know we gave up a you know pick six down there and um but there's a lot of a lot of things to clean up so again i got to do a better job all the way around and that's what i'll do he's now calling the plays for the new york giants offense i don't know if that's going to make a difference with their uh current constructed offense the offensive line stinks you got a better wide receiver group especially with malik neighbors the quarterback still makes crap decisions the defense can't win it look the giants stink it's inevitable that daniel jones gets the boot we had an entire off season of hard knocks built around just pretty much whether or not they were going to replace him or not in the draft the general manager's own son joe shane his kid was just like dad we need a quarterback that must really suck daniel jones is on borrowed time this is like getting shown the door and knowing that your time is up but just facing the inevitable daniel jones told us the obvious they were bad yeah obviously not good enough didn't get any in the end zone scored six points um didn't uh create much rhythm and flow for ourselves and um yeah i've got to be better uh certainly got to you know play better give ourselves more chances to make plays and and execute more consistently depressing hickey that's depressing man listening to him is depressing i see brian day ball maybe that's why he lost all that weight maybe he's depressed uh it's just it's not good man this is a wasted season like they're not going anywhere daniel jones is gonna get the boot uh if drew lock is healthy enough eventually they're gonna say all right screw this we gotta put him out there and they're just gonna let daniel jones ride on the bench with that silly look on his face man i couldn't agree more which is why i was so confused the last few weeks and maybe just because i'm here in new york and it's giants fans you know like when it's your team you're always more optimistic but there was real belief from people i know like multiple people that this team was going to win nine games they were going to be in the middle of a playoff race like they were going to be a actually competent and good despite the fact that they lost their best offensive player in saquon barkley one of the best defensive players and xavier mckinney dale jones has proven outside of one year and even in that year they went to the plasticine he was making a lot of plays like he made a he got a lot of rushing touchdowns but wasn't like 13 or 14 passing touchdowns like he's never been a guy to take over a game and lead you but there was real optimism and at least i guess thankfully for those giants fans you got a wake-up call right away of it's not going to be a good year this year yeah well maybe it will be hickey maybe we're both wrong i don't i don't think so but i think they're screwed i just don't think daniel jones can consistently make winning plays like he can win you a game here or there but also not having saquon barkley staring him directly in the face is going to have an effect on this offense because he has to throw the ball i mean you look at the versatility of saquon barkley this past friday uh down in brazil against the packers we didn't even get into jordan love who's dealing with his own knee injury but you saw the versatility that's gone the new york john's going to have more of a of a traditional offense and it's going to be tasked with daniel jones throwing the ball and it doesn't matter who he has what options he has out there he's just not good enough to make the decisions and the giants yeah things could turn around but i i highly doubt it they take on the on the washington uh football team hickey is that their name is that what they call them the commanders the commanders yes sir commander's football team just they take them on next and good for the commanders too they they need the victory it's the jr sport reshow here with you on the infinity sports network 8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27 we'll give you an
