Appreciate you for tuning in on the free Odyssey app, your local Infinity Sports Network affiliate, Sirius XM Channel 158, and everybody listening on a smart speaker. All you got to do is ask the speaker to play the Infinity Sports Network and boom, we pop right on up. I'm not here by myself. I'm being joined by super producer and host Ryan Hickey in New York City.

We get started every single weekday at 6 p.m. Eastern, 3 Pacific, and we've already had a busy day. Thank you so much to Kelvin Beecham, offensive tackle for the Arizona Cardinals, NFL vet. He joined us last hour. He says, Kyla Murray's looking good. Marvin Harrison Jr. Oh, he's grabbing everything out the air.

If it's in his vicinity, he's coming down with it. So thank you to Kelvin Beecham. You missed that interview. It's from last hour.

Hit rewind on the free Odyssey app. And then if you want to call up, you can 855-212-4227. That's 855-212-4227. And speaking of wide receivers, we learned today that the Dallas Cowboys finally decided to pay their franchise wide receiver. The latest Dallas Cowboy to wear number 88. CeeDee Lamb is not going anywhere for years.

One hundred and thirty six million dollars through twenty twenty eight. Ian Rappaport, he was on the NFL network and he gave us the deals, the details. CeeDee Lamb just got paid.

His holdout is over. The star receiver of the Dallas Cowboys is headed back to practice, getting ready for the two thousand and twenty four season because he has now agreed to terms on a massive contract extension. Four years, one hundred and thirty six million dollar extension, according to me and colleague Tom Felicero. One hundred million dollars guaranteed a wide receiver record. Thirty eight million dollars signing bonus. Now the second highest paid non quarterback in NFL history. So CeeDee Lamb is back and the Dallas Cowboys now turn their attention to getting a long term extension done with their star quarterback, Dak Prescott. And you have to get a deal done with Dak, right?

We talked about this earlier in the show. You can't go into a regular season. With a lame duck head coach and Mike McCarthy and then also a lame duck quarterback, like who does this? Like somebody that's just ready to fire the entire team. And I understand NFL cut day is tomorrow.

By the time we get to tomorrow afternoon, people's lives will be changed. Will be about a thousand dudes in the NFL that happen to be on the unemployment line. Dak has to be next. What are you waiting on? Like, unless it's cost prohibitive.

Like you want to establish your future. Nobody wants to see Derek Carr next year. Nobody wants to see Jimmy Garoppolo. Nobody wants Gardner Minshew, Joe Flacco. Like this. Who else is available to play quarterback?

They don't grow on trees. Let's be real. Half the teams in the NFL would love to replace whoever the hell they probably have at QB. If they could upgrade, they probably would just get Dak's deal done. If it doesn't happen this offseason, the Dallas Cowboys now have a little less than two weeks to get a deal done.

They open up the season against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, September 8th. You got just about two weeks this week and next week. We all know this is the holiday weekend. Hammer it out unless you feel that Dak's ankle is trash. This is the same man who was on vacation with his, you know, surgically repaired ankle and in a boot. He's probably going to have to wear this boot on and off for the rest of his career. But as long as he can show up on Sunday.

Pay the man. He was an MVP candidate last year. I know it hasn't resulted in postseason success, but maybe I would be better if I don't know. The biggest offseason move wasn't bringing back Ezekiel Elliott.

What do I know, though? Michael Parsons, he's up next to get paid. Not this season, though. He sat down on his Bleacher Report show and he said, congratulations, because that's what you say when someone accomplishes something big like making money. Congratulations to my man C.D. Lamb. Man, couldn't be happier for the guy, one of the best dudes in the locker room, one of the best players on our team.

And to get the payday he got to take care of his family. I couldn't be more happy for C.D. So congratulations to my brother C.D. Lamb.

Man, it's a dream to be watching you, parting up with you and suiting up with you every week. So congratulations on your bread. You earned every dollar. Good. It is everybody out here making money, legalized violence. Catch a ball, make money, throw the ball, make money, hit somebody, make money.

Must be nice. Good luck to everybody trying to make an NFL roster tomorrow. We also had another wide receiver move, but he not as good as C.D.

Lamb. I think you can thank injuries a lot because of that. Juju Smith Schuster is back in Kansas City. Yeah, maybe he'll be healthy.

Maybe his knees will work. Kansas City Chiefs waiting on every wide receiver possible to try to fix things and make things move. Congratulations to the Chiefs.

They're probably favorites to go out there and win a championship again. Eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven is eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven Rocco is calling from New York. You're on the JR Sport Reshow. What's going on Rocco?

Yeah. How's it going? How's it going, my friend? Very well.

What's on your mind? Hey, what's up with Jerry Jones? This is nonsense. I mean, it's time for him to retire and turn the Cowboys over to sons.

You know, the Cowboys are never going to win it as long as Jerry is there. Plays this game every time. You know, I'm not going to play this. Let's go dredge it out.

The guys spit it out. And then he always pays. He always pays in the end.

Yeah, he does. Right? What's the game? He's going to pay, Dak.

What's the game? Just pay up and get it over with. He did drink. Right. And that didn't work out too well.

But he he overpays, but he winds up paying. Get the game done, dude. I hear you, Rocco. Thank you for calling from New York. I think it's just a power play. That's all that there's nothing else that it could be, but a power play. Right. And this is is this the art of negotiating? And I think there's two things to understand.

And I said this earlier in the show as well. Nobody could take anything away from what Jerry Jones has been able to accomplish as a businessman. When you think about the valuation of the Dallas Cowboys now worth an excess of 10 billion dollars.

Everything he's done from Frisco to Arlington, from the practice facility to Jerry's world. And nobody can take anything away. But when it comes to actually getting over the hump. Yeah, he's the reason. Yeah. OK. It starts at the top.

I can't erase 12 and five every year. But you've peaked. That's that's not what you want. You want to get over the hump. You don't want to kind of stop there at the top. And it all stops there.

No, you want to get over the hump. And so the same guy that's helping them get there. Might be the same dude who's in their damn way.

And I shared with you. I've read you the quote from his interview over the weekend. Jerry Jones says he is never going anywhere. He's not. He says nobody can be the GM.

Nobody could run the team. Better than him. And I mean, I don't know, maybe we'll find out in five years.

Maybe Hickey, maybe it'll be 15 years. I don't know. It is ego. That's the answer to Rocco's question. Why does Jerry always wait? Yeah, he's right. Everybody always gets paid.

Every one of the Dallas Cowboys stars, everybody gets a big deal. But he stretches it out to the why. Maybe he wants them to sweat. I don't know.

I don't know. He ends up paying more in the case of Dak Prescott. He paid more four years ago when he got him the 40. He didn't have to give him the 40.

He could have been sitting around on a thirty five per per year deal. But he waited. Are you going to let lightning strike twice when it comes down to Dak?

Pay him this year, because if I'm Dak and I have a great season, you know what I'm doing next year? I'm chilling. I'm waiting.

That's it. You know, I don't know how long it's going to take for Brock Purdy to get his deal. But if Brock Purdy has a good deal, I'm waiting on Brock to get his deal. And I'm saying, oh, well, I want that unless unless Brock wins the Super Bowl and knocks out the Cowboys again.

You know what? It's risky if you think about it. It's risky for Dak as well. If you're Dak Prescott, do you want to go into a contract here? You already got a busted up ankle that required surgery.

You've had to wear a boot on vacation. Come on. Do you want to go into a contract or do you want the security today? Do you want to go into the great unknown next year?

What what teams? Where could Dak go? Where would he go? Is somebody just going to say, here's 60 million dollars? If I'm Dak, I want to get this done now as well. Hickey, would you want this? I mean, who wouldn't want security?

I know it sounds like a crazy question. I mean, even as we watch Aaron Judge try to, you know, assault the record books again. Like Aaron Judge and he doesn't play football, but, you know, baseball ain't no guarantees either. Like Aaron Judge was like, I think I can make more. I'm going to play this year out.

But if you're an NFL player, you want the security. What do you think from Dak? He has to want to get paid now, right? I would actually argue that he should want to wait. I would argue that he should want to wait.

C.D. Lamb should have waited and Jamar Chase should wait. Because those two positions quarterback and wide receiver, we are seeing their markets only going up. And Dak is a perfect example. Back in 2020, I mean, he shattered that ankle.

Just did all it was in positions that I just would get sick about even thinking about. So we're not going to talk about it. But he seriously got hurt. Then cashed in that offseason and got paid and became one of the highest paid quarterbacks in the NFL.

I mean, unless it's like truly career ending. I don't know if even Dak, C.D. or Jamar, if they played out this year, not on a contract extension and they got hurt. I mean, I don't see the like the Bengals not paying Jamar Chase if he tears ACL. I don't see the Cowboys not paying C.D. Lamb if he, I don't know, breaks his leg or pulls a hamstring. He's out for the year like Justin Jefferson got hurt last year. And it was a hamstring and it was not as major, but he still missed seven games and he became the highest nonpaid quarterback in the NFL. I think if you're Dak, you test it.

Well, I'll say this. If you're Dak and you want to stay in Dallas, you get a deal done before week one. If you are truly thinking about leaving, you don't. Well, I mean, obviously you don't sign a deal. If he doesn't sign a deal by week one, I think he's gone.

Wow. I mean, so in Jamar Chase's case, he has he has two more years left. Like this ain't his final year of his deal.

And so he can afford the way this also it's a special situation where it comes down to Jamar. But for Dak, like they gave him that they still and I give him credit. They still gave him that contract after he ripped his leg to shreds. And it was almost a foregone conclusion like, OK, they are surgically going to repair his ankle and he will be back out onto the field. And that's exactly what he's done. And he's played as an MVP candidate.

But as you get older, that was Hickey. This is crazy because Tom just flies and it doesn't stop for anybody. He's four years older. He is still walking around on vacation with his foot in the boot.

It's like I can't push my leg all that much. So I think when you factor in his age, like you're going to have to and I'm saying catastrophic injuries. And we see how athletes, how their bodies change, you know, for the benefit of somebody like LeBron James. What's what's the injury that has altered his career? There hasn't been one like a groin injury a couple of seasons ago when he got to L.A. Like the guy has been, I don't want to say indestructible, but he hasn't had that injury to take him out. Conversely, we look at someone like like Klay Thompson and no Klay Thompson was another jumping out of the gym, ripped his Achilles and then ripped his knee. And he's he's not the same player. And so if I'm that I'm reading the tea leaves and I'm saying, what are the odds that this season something else terrible happens to me? Like I'm looked at like now to the older guy.

And now he's fragile and falling apart. And it's somebody will pay him. But he's staring in the face of a deal. Has to be right now.

Has to be between 50 and 60 mil. And I would just if I'm him, like you said, if he wants to stay in Dallas, just just take it. And if you're the Cowboys, you want to get this done, too. You didn't learn your lesson from last time. The price doesn't go down.

Price just continues to go up. But as Rocco called and said from New York, Dallas Cowboys always dragging things out because Jerry, as you heard, he's he's an egomaniac. He has to make the decision. He has to make the call.

He has to feel that he got the best of the situation because nobody can do it like him. Well, let me know what our next championship is. I don't think it's coming this year. And damn it, it might come when you are gone. I ain't hoping or wishing that.

But that's just the reality. Hey, do you think there's going to be a championship in Dallas in the next five years? I don't know about that, man.

I don't know about that. Not with this guy running the show. 8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27.

That's 8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27. Listen, he ends up paying the young players. He gets the young players deals.

He gets them paid. But what about the winning aspect? Where's that championship? Where's that Super Bowl? It's the JR sport ratio here with you on the Infinity Sports Network.

8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27. We're going to take a break when we come back on the other side. How about this? I'm going to talk about another player. This guy's younger than everybody. He's getting paid by a company that.

You wouldn't choose or expect somebody to rock with, but I'll explain on the other side. It's the JR sport brief show here on the Infinity Sports Network. You're listening to the JR sport brief, the JR sport brief show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. Give him the boot like these NFL players. Aaron Judge is one of four on the day. No home runs. What a guy.

Wow. No, no home runs. No RBI is just a measly. Just a walk, a strike out in only one base hit. Batting averages.

Three thirty three. What a loser. Anyway, on base twice. Must be nice.

Con it a bad day. Well, you got to hit a home run. What is it? Look at Stanton. What did he do behind him?

Nothing. Oh, for the strikeout. How the hell does this guy even do this with no? This is forget the guy in front of him in Soto. He's able to do this with. OK, Stanton can swing and go deep. But are people still afraid of Stanton? And I'm talking about him like he's had a bad year. Twenty three home runs. Sixty RBI is just about what he's always hurt. Like there's no real protection behind him. And he's still cracking everything there. I mean, even to stand when he was out for what, two months?

I can't. But he was a while. So he like just really came back into the fold now. And so for two months, basically having no protection behind him for whatever reason, pitcher still decided to pitch to him. It's where the fact having like, you know, guys like Austin Wells and J.D.

Davis hitting behind Aaron Judge. And he makes him pay every time. Yeah. You got to got to appreciate greatness when it's in front of you. Between him and Otani, just watching him play is it's a lot of fun right now. And there's another there's another guy speaking of greatness. People have started to learn about this guy, this young man. Cooper Flagg. Maybe you heard about him. He's committed to Duke. He was playing Team USA in a scrimmage and they said he was holding his own.

He is 17 years old, 17 years old. It was announced today that Duke Cooper Flagg is going to be playing at Duke, which is a it's a Nike school. Cooper Flagg is 17 years old and he has signed a deal with New Balance. This is crazy. Cooper Flagg is originally from Maine.

They are not that far away. New Balance up in Newport. And he basically said the connection with New Balance as a family company and a company with Maine roots means a lot to me. That makes this really different and special.

My mom used to go to the tent sale for back to school shopping there when we were kids. That really aligns the brand with my roots. It's a perfect fit. Now, I'm sure he didn't write that. He said, yeah, that's fine if you guys put that out. And this is this is a part of the gig.

And time changes everything. I actually like it. Like Nike ain't ain't fallen off the face of the earth. I mean, over the past couple of years, we've had like other footwear companies like the Pumas and Sketchers. I think Joel Embiid has a deal with Sketchers.

I don't know who's running to buy Sketchers because of Joel Embiid. I couldn't even tell you who the biggest player in Pumas is. I don't know.

Kate Cunningham wear Pumas. I can't keep up. I don't know. But to have a young guy 17 years old, this is the real influencer. He's not even in the league yet. I mean, when Zion was was back at Duke. Zion was basically a free agent. He busted out of a Nike and he still signed a Nike deal.

But with Cooper flag like there is there's a potential for like a Steph Curry effect. You know, I don't know what this guy's shoes are going to look like. I don't know if he's going to have a signature shoe or whatever.

I don't know. But if he lives up to the hype of what he's been. Before a guy who's 17, he could help. He could help kind of shift things in the market a little bit. New Balances come into the I don't want to say back in my day, but we wore New Balance as a casual shoe, not as a basketball shoe. And more recently has become more of a fashion statement to wear New Balance.

But to really put it on and have an athletic look to it. But Coco Gauff wears New Balance and she's participating in the U.S. Open in Queens right now. Tyrese Maxey. He wears New Balance. I don't think anybody would ever notice because Tyrese Maxey is an all star, but people don't. People don't be checking for him. What does he sound like?

He's not doing podcasts and what have you. Just plays basketball. But Cooper flag has an opportunity to really make an effect. You know, Steph Curry, everything he did with Under Armour like that was a big deal when he started winning championships and shooting threes. But for a 17 year old to have that effect, I hope it is.

Hickey, you think this is going to be one of these needle movers? I think so, especially if, you know, he comes to like we already know his name and this is probably this is these are the most hyped high school basketball players in Zion. So if he actually pans out, stays healthy now and can play well at Duke household name and can really, you know, bust it in the league. I think absolutely that we'll see more players wear New Balance and be kind of a cool new thing to do. I think people always looking for the next new thing and New Balance, you know, basketball shoes could be them. Do you think in our lifetime that there will be a shoe company that will eat enough away at Nike where Nike is just and let's be honest, they've already they haven't gone anywhere. But I think Nike has had some of its how some of its market share has been chopped away. You know, I just named some of the brands and when you have a it used to be a foregone conclusion that if you were a guy like Cooper Flag, you were just getting a Nike deal. Like what else is there nowadays?

There's so many other ways to split the pie. Is he underarm is he puma is he sketches is he this is he that like Nike still has the majority of the market share, but there's so many other options. And do you think they'll be a day in our lifetime where Nike will not be at the top of the heat? I will say probably not. I would say probably not like I just don't like to think the shift to Under Armour New Balance, whoever may be be so great that the tables turn completely.

I don't think so. Yeah, they they are so far ahead of the game. That's what it boils down to.

I think they're ahead of the game and I think they've done a smart job and I don't know, maybe it bites them in the ass. I mean, over the years, we've seen the Jordan brand become more prevalent. But does that have the same juice? I mean, I listen to athletes, professional athletes in the NBA. Who you ask them, hey, who's the greatest player? People are like, hey, it's it's LeBron.

So does does Michael Jordan even hold the same cachet with with people who are in their early 20s and younger than that? I don't I don't think so. I don't think so. So we'll see what happens. Congratulations. I just hope Cooper Flag lives up to all of the hype. And as we talk about the start of the college football season, Pickey, it's also nuts. We're going to see college basketball.

Not too far. We will actually be able to see Cooper Flag play basketball. That's this guy's been talked about for the better part of two years. And here he is now, one year away from the NBA.

Crazy, right? Same with Zion, where you're they're so young and they burst on the scene so quickly that you're not used to waiting for kids like this, like actually get onto the main scene. Usually you're learning about them when they're already on the main scene. It's going to be a really entertaining college basketball season. I mean, you're it's no coincidence why you already hear kind of NBA teams last year before the draft started kind of rumbling about, you know, tanking for flag and already kind of trying to write off this season in order to try to get the number one. Spot is a lot of hype. And he seems like so far the kid that's going to pay it off. Yeah, just Tom.

Tom flies. I mean, Zion is already and he missed the season due to injury with that foot. He's missed a lot of time due to injury. Zion is already moving into his year six season.

Wow. I still remember the night of the lottery when the Pelicans won and they had the camera in the war room and he was crying. I remember that he was crying. He's had a lot to cry about over the past few years. He's lost that.

Yes, yes, yes. He's lost weight. I mean, so let's see if he can keep the weight off.

It's one thing to lose weight in the off season. It's another thing is Zion starts traveling to Miami and goes to New York and goes to Chicago and they get in late at night and he gets hung. It's let me let me relax. I'll stop. Anyway, it's the J.R. sport show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network.

If there's one thing we know about life, Tom flies. And it doesn't matter whether you're having fun or not. We come back on the other side of the break. We're going to wrap things up. But then also, I'm going to go back in time. Want to take a listen to a few things that took place this day in sports history.

You were listening to the J.R. sport brief, the J.R. sport show here on the Infinity Sports Network. I feel like I'm supposed to break out into a dance routine. You want to you want a Jackson five mood? You you in a good mood? Yeah, good mood. It's been a fun Monday so far. OK, I'm not I'm not going to sing.

Be vibing, though, at least. Oh, man. Yeah, I'm in a I'm in a I'm in a better mood.

All right, good. We were coming into the break and I was thinking about everybody that's going to get cut tomorrow. But now I feel better.

I feel around upside down. Well, let's let's they should play that in every NFL facility tomorrow at four o'clock. Is that work?

Would that be like torture or punishment? I think the only thing that could help tomorrow is maybe not getting cut. I don't know if a song will will make it any. I mean, I honestly make it worse.

Well, to listen to happy music and then be told that you're getting fired. Right. OK. I mean, you have to go and take a grunge phase. Grunge?

Yeah. It's get real sad, real deep, real emo. Emo is another, you know, another way to describe it. You're going to listen to like Kurt Cobain. What are you going to listen to? Sure. Yeah.

Heavy metal. Whatever your choices. Dido, you will play some Dido. I don't know who that is, but sure.

I'll trust you on that. Dido was the one. You know, Stan from Eminem, right?

Yes. That's the sample. OK. You're just going to you're going to you're going to turn it.

You be the Kermit the Frog me. The one where he's looking out the window and it's raining. He has one hand up on the glass and he's just miserable.

That's the one. OK. No, there'll be a lot of NFL players like that tomorrow. That's the part that that sucks.

It's terrible. We've already not that we've had guys cut. We've got rumors of guys that'll be cut.

But we've had a trade today. Jordan Love now has a backup at the quarterback position. Apparently, Malik Willis is being traded from the Tennessee Titans, where he was basically the third string QB after Will Levison, Mason Rudolph. He's been traded for what, a seventh round?

Let's see, is it six or seven rounder? A seventh round pick next year to back up Jordan Love. I don't think I have seen Malik Willis really throw a football since he was at Liberty. That's how long it's been. And he was third string here on the on the Tennessee Titans. Hickey, was that the last time you've really seen him throw a ball? I know he's he's had a few passes here in the NFL, but I feel like he's been in cobwebs for a long time now, a couple of years.

Absolutely. And in the small samples we've got, you know, in preseason in years past, I mean, Mike variable did not seem very pleased whatsoever. I remember there's a thought that he could be the first quarterback taken in that draft ahead of Kenny Pickett. First round guy dropped to the third.

I believe it was like the third quarterback drafted. Now on a second team, not going to play. It has been a swift fall from grace. Well, you want to talk about mothballs? We haven't said Kenny Pickett's name since we played the audio from Kenny Pickett, where months ago he was saying, oh, yeah, it's so good to be home, you know, East East Pennsylvania.

And it's like this guy is he's in mothballs, too. We if we have to utter the name Kenny Pickett this year, then things are not going good for the Philadelphia Eagles. Let's just let's just put it that way. And tomorrow will not be good. We will definitely keep you all up to date with everything going on on cut day, because by the time we get on air, we will have some names that will have been been given a boot. And I'm sure a lot of these names will hit the wire and it will be able to actually take a look at that team needs and what quarterbacks might be going elsewhere and what holes might get filled.

And let's think about this. We still have players right now, even though C.D. Lamb got a contract today. Hassan Redick is still beefing with the New York Jets. No contract. Trent Richardson, he's beefing with the 49ers is still no contract. A matter of fact, we got this update earlier today as it relates to to Trent and his deal. And is he going to get one? Is he going to show up to work?

Well, let's actually take a listen to this clip. It's from earlier today. Adam Schefter talking about Trent Williams on Pat McAfee show.

He said he may not show up to work. And I'm talking about week one. I think there is some concern. I think their offensive line didn't play particularly well the other night.

And I don't know. I don't think that they've made a lot of progress so far. I don't think that Trump Williams is closer to coming in today. I also think that we're entering a week now where the 49ers play two weeks from tonight against Aaron Rodgers and the Jets, two weeks from tonight, which is amazing to think about. And I just think that this is the week where I'm expecting every one of these situations to have some type of ramped up activity.

Now, I don't know that all of them will get solved. Yeah, well, he'll get paid. Hickey, did I call Trent Williams? Did I call him Trent Richardson? You did. What a throwback.

Wow. There's not even that much of a throwback. But I mean, speaking of cobwebs, he has to be well, you got to be in his thirties now. When is the last time that he played football? Is he? I know he was in that one of those. I don't want to call it a makeup league, but he was in one of those one of those things.

No, like the AAF for like the access. He was in one of those. Yes, he was when they started. I remember. Yeah, he was talking about being down bad.

Jeez. Speaking of down bad, this might be a good news. I know Chubb, he's on the public. We won't see him for the first four games of the season for the Browns.

No shock there. Listen, I'm just surprised that the guy's still in the league able to play the way that his leg was bent last year. And so we're going to have a whole lot move, a lot, a lot more news on guys getting cut and what have you tomorrow. But right now, it's time to go back in time for a few things that took place this day in sports history. Back in the days when I was young, I'm not a kid anymore, but some days I sit and wish I was a kid again. It's time for this day in sports history. See, back in those days, we had radio and you couldn't see anything.

And it was primitive and lousy and we liked it. On the JR Sport Brief Show. I wish I was 50 years younger and I'd kick your ass.

It is the JR Sport Brief Show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. It is also August 26th. You got a few more hours of it. Enjoy it, OK? But if we go back in time, there are a few things that took place this day in sports history.

I'm going to tell you about a few of them. Let's do this first. Let's go back to 1993. Because a young man by the name of Sean Burroughs, he threw his second no hitter in the Little League World Series, which, by the way, ended yesterday. Congratulations to Lake Mary.

They beat Chinese Taipei an extra innings to win Florida's first ever Little League World Series. I feel so bad. I haven't seen a minute. I did not see a minute. I did not see a second of the Little League World Series this year outside of what I saw in the studio.

No desire. Sorry. Congratulations to the young men, though.

Good for y'all. This day in sports history, August 26, 2004, U.S. women's national team, they beat Brazil to win a gold medal in Athens. They beat them two to one. Now, beating Brazil in soccer. Oh, yeah, that's a big deal. I want you to take a listen to this, because back in 2004, Abby Wambach, she scored an extra time.

Take a listen. This is the final call as Team USA won gold on NBC. Christine Lillie is ready for the corner. Drives it. Far side. Headed by Wambach. And Wambach has scored. USA leads.

Not a down. US picking it up. One waiting for the referee's final whistle.

She is looking at the watch. Wiley leaves it. Send it to the corner. That's it. USA have won the gold medal. Yeah, and it's at least the women are good.

The men, they suck. Even back in 2004. August 26, 2016. Colin Kaepernick. At that point in time, a member of the 49ers preseason game. He took a knee in San Diego. You might remember this audio.

You might have heard it a million times, but time flies. Colin Kaepernick afterwards explaining for the first time why he took that knee noticeably during the national anthem. I mean, ultimately, it's to bring awareness and make people realize what's really going on in this country. There are a lot of things that are going on that are unjust.

People aren't being held accountable for. And that's something that needs to change. That's something that this country stands for. Freedom, liberty, justice for all.

And it's not happening for all right now. You know what? Regardless of what you think or how you feel, that man made his point. He did any pay for it with his job and he paid for it with a settlement as well. He got paid. No more NFL for Colin Kaepernick.

I'd be shocked as hell if that ever happens. That was back in 2016. Wow.

A year after that, August 26, 2017. I remember this vividly. I saw the press conference in Brooklyn. Oh, I spoke to McGregor. Just anyway, the Mayweather beat Conor McGregor.

This was on Showtime. If you want to call toying with him, whatever. Anyway, listen to the final call. Yeah, that was an exit. Listen, if Mayweather wanted to beat the living hell out of that man, he could have. And Mayweather is out here still doing exhibition fights. He's like 47 years old. Over the weekend, he fought John Gotti, the third. Oh, my God.

What are we doing? Is this who he fought? He kicked the he kicked the ref out of the fight midway. Did you did you pay to see this fight over the weekend?

Hell, no. But I did see the headline that he kicked the ref out. I don't know what what happens. Is he just refereeing his own match as well? He brought a new one in. Referees just sitting on ice waiting for the call.

Yeah. He just told the guy, he's like, man, why are you stopping action and rabbit punches? No rabbit punches. Let us fight. He just told him to hit the bricks and said, getting fired, getting fired. Mid mid fight.

What a world. Anyway, Mayweather got it. He got to do something, I guess.

Eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven. Wayne is here from New Mexico. You got to go quick. Wayne, you're on the J.R. sport reshow. Yeah, I just got with a lot of these new new guys in the media and stuff and make up these feeds. I don't know the validity of half these people. So I'm curious what your takes is as far as with people saying Tom Brady was coming, coming back to the Vikings. I know there's a lot of fake media and stuff out there. So I know you came up from that way and I may be the next reason to be the next J.R.

But some people put a lot of fake stuff out there. I thought maybe if you're here to the ground, you may know. No, I heard any other rumors.

I wouldn't I wouldn't lend a credence to that in any type of way. I wouldn't worry about it at all. Thank you, man.

No problem. Yeah. Look at me. Now, when Tom Brady joins the Vikings, you can call me an idiot. I just. Hell, no, not not happening.

Just don't even bother thinking about it. Pigs will fly. Jerry Jones will, you know, give up general manager responsibilities. Those are just a few things that will happen before I see Tom Brady just playing for the Vikings.

What is he, Brett Favre 2.0? No, we don't need this. Anyway, thank you so much to Kelvin Beecham from the Arizona Cardinals for joining us earlier in the show. If you missed the conversation, go ahead and hit rewind on the free Odyssey app. We will be back with you tomorrow at 6 p.m. Eastern, 3 Pacific. Tomorrow is NFL Cut Day. Let's see if we have some surprises.

We typically will. I wish you well. Be smooth. Be cool. Be great. The channel sport show is done. Don't move. Bart Winkler is coming up next. Thank you so much to our super producer and host, Ryan Hickey. You'll be good. Catch you tomorrow. That's it. I'm done.
