If you missed a minute of the show, hit rewind on the free Odyssey app. Anyway, it's been a busy week. It's been a busy night. We know about the NBA draft. We know about Bronny James. Man, a couple of hours ago, De'Jaunte Murray was traded from the Atlanta Hawks to the New Orleans Pelicans for Larry Nance Jr. A point guard, a young point guard and two first round picks. So basically nothing.
Atlanta Hawks. Masters at being average. Anyway, what a day. Thank you to our producer. Excellent job. Excellent job. Thank you so much. To Colton Guesser. Great job. Just out here having fun.
If you want to have fun, you can. 855-212-4227. That's 855-212-4227. We've been through a lot this week. And then the NHL draft is tonight, too. I saw Jerome McGintless Kidd get drafted. I'm like, whoa. Not the same as, you know, like what LeBron did, but still, damn.
So we've had an opportunity to go through so much. We talked about the NFL's class action lawsuit as it relates to Sunday Ticket. Talked about the future of, I don't know, a Klay Thompson and then also a what's the guy's name? Paul George. Yeah, I said, what's his name? Because he hardly plays. Forgive me. Got into Kyle Filipowski.
There's so many allegations and rumors about this guy's like, damn, now I know why no teams wanted you. It's like, are you going to listen to the team or are you going to listen to your mommy? And when I say mommy, I mean. Girlfriend.
Anyway. There's just so much going on and find me online. I'm at J.R. Sport Brief.
And of course, as we continue on with the show, there's a lot of things I want to get into. I had a busy day before the Atlanta Hawks decided to trade the John T. Murray for the New Orleans Pelicans. I was actually at their practice facility today, their headquarters, as they introduced their new number one overall pick, Zachary Risache. OK, I had a chance to meet him. What a nice, wholesome individual he is.
Nice Frenchman. I hope he can hack it in the NBA next year. Just play defense and shoot threes. Be aggressive. And it also early, I was hanging out with AJ Terrell from the Atlanta Falcons.
He was holding a camp today on the campus of HBCU Morehouse, which is pretty cool. So I've had me a full day and it's been a full week in the world of sports. So, you know, next break I'll play a little something. The conversation I had with AJ Terrell for the event that he helped highlight.
And then, of course, at the end of the show. We're going to we're going to walk through a time warp. I'm going to take you through quite a few things that took place this day in sports history. What's today?
June 28th. Yeah, we'll go back in time. There's a lot of things that happened on this day. I'll tell you about them. I'll tell the trust, very interesting things. We'll get into that.
855 212 4227. Let me ask Colton out of all the things that took place this week. Like, what do you think is the biggest story has to be? Would you say it's Bronny James has to be right? I don't know if you're trying to hit a nerve, JR, because I kind of told you my secret early when you first started the show.
For me, the biggest story has to be Kyle Philipowski. Oh, no. Ouch. Oh, no.
Why do you think do you think he's going to get dragged into like a dark hole? No, I think it's a very, very awkward situation here. You're going into an NBA locker room as a young guy.
Right. And we talked about earlier about that locker room. There's a bunch of different personalities in that locker room there in Utah, and there's going to be a lot of losing in Utah.
Can that be the biggest story? Let's be real. Have the majority of other majority of people if Kyle Philipowski walk by them in the mall, would people know who he is? It's a good question.
I think you'd have to notice like, hey, that's got to be an athlete. No, but no, no. Him, him, him.
Probably not. Yeah. I mean, it's well, you know what? For anyone who's not up to speed, Kyle Philipowski is a center from Duke, played two years at Duke, 16 points, eight rebounds, can knock down a three. He was supposed to be taken in the first round of the draft, was sitting there in his suit without his family in attendance. He was accompanied by a young woman and he didn't get drafted. And the next day he got drafted yesterday by the Utah Jazz at pick number 32. And people were trying to wonder why.
I want you to listen to this commentary on ESPN, Jonathan Giovanni, and just listen to what he said. NBA teams are talking about the fact that they had question marks about his girlfriend being so much older than him. Why was he estranged from his family because of this whole situation?
Apparently he doesn't talk to his parents or his brother. And it's a very, very odd situation. I personally don't understand why it would cause him to drop like this into the second round.
There, obviously there are no question marks about his character, but NBA teams are talking about his nerves and his workouts weren't great. And when they asked him about this situation in interviews, the answers they got weren't satisfactory for them. So this Kyle Philipowski situation is bizarre. Bizarre. You want to know how bizarre?
We started to get reports just over the past 24 hours. It's real bizarre. My friend Rob LaTalle at Black Sports Online says Kyle Philip- and this is all and this is all allegations. We don't know no facts because Kyle hasn't spoken.
Kyle Philipowski's 26 year old ex babysitter, maybe cousin, and now girlfriend Caitlin Hutchinson is accused by his family of grooming him to be a Mormon and plotting on him being her lottery ticket. Wow. Wow. Yeah. Big story.
Absolutely. As Colton said, you know, Colton, I think it would be bigger. This story gets bigger.
If he does become a Mormon and I don't know the jazz, just cut him. I don't know. Busy week. Other busy week.
Oh, other big story. LeBron James' son, Bronny. Bronny is a member of the Los Angeles Lakers. If you needed to know because you wanted a Bronny jersey, he's going to be wearing number nine. LeBron James gets his head coach in JJ Riddick. LeBron James also gets his son on the team in Bronny. And why did the Lakers select Bronny? Well, listen to what Rob Palenka had to say yesterday as he had his press conference.
Listen to this explanation and you tell me if you buy it. Bronny is first and foremost a person of high character. And second, he is a young man that works incredibly hard. And those are the qualities we look for in drafting players and adding to our developmental core at the Lakers. He had a great draft workout with us where he displayed those qualities to me in our lunch that we shared in the building just to get to know each other.
It became clear that he was a man of character. Oh, come on. That's the reason why. Can we be honest? Can we say because LeBron wanted us to take him? Oh, come on. No, we can't we can't say that. We can't say that. We have to honor and uphold the dignity of us drafting and selecting him at number 55.
We have to say he's a solid. It has nothing to do, nothing. Well, you know what? I guess it's inferred. Why say the obvious?
Throw out the other excuses, right? Rob Palenka, hey, why did you select Bronny James? A, because he's LeBron's son. B, because LeBron wanted him. And B, we think we could do something. But more importantly, yeah, he might be good. He might be bad.
LeBron wanted him, won the team. Done. But you can't say that.
You got to be politically correct. Big stories in the world of sports, right? Colton, I think that's the biggest one. You're a Lakers fan. You don't think so? JR, I think you really want to let a fighter into me tonight. It is a Friday night, JR. JR, we all knew, everyone and their mother knew they were taking him.
I could not understand. Again, we have a lot of great personalities here at the Infinity Sports Network. And I just saw everyone posting their little videos and quotes about Bronny and the Lakers taking Bronny. I'm like, who cares? We knew he was going there. Why are we surprised?
Why are we shocked? It's the second round. You probably couldn't name me 12 or 10 guys that were taken in the second round that have worked out.
This draft is not a great draft overall anyway. Who cares? They all knew they were taking Bronny.
It's driven me nuts. I couldn't stand seeing everyone on Twitter posting about Bronny. Who cares? Everyone knew the Lakers were taking him.
They didn't hide it. And then you have the reports that come out early in the second round that Rich Paul's calling people, it's the Suns or the Lakers. Okay, who cares? We all knew he was going to the Lakers. So why are we acting so surprised?
He's a former All-American, great. It just drives me nuts to say, it's this big of a story, J.R. It's not a big story. I think this is a bigger story. And by the way, Duke covering this is crazy. A big university and a big college basketball school like Duke, somehow keeping this on the wraps about Kyle Philipowski. That, I think, is the bigger story, not Bronny. We all knew this.
We knew this should have been declared. The idea that people got freaky relationships all over the place. Okay. I don't know. At Duke? This is this is a little more than freaky. When was the last big time athlete in college or anything? Something like this coming out.
People have family freaky issues. Okay. Coming out at the University of Duke? It doesn't matter if it's the university ass.
It doesn't matter. The NBA has never seen. Oh, no.
How about this? We have never seen a player like LeBron James. I think a little bit more rare than that.
We have never seen. It's rare in professional sports, it happens, but it's rare to have a father and son playing at the same time. It's even more rare to have them on the same team. And it has never happened in the NBA where typically you ain't going to be sticking around at 40 years old to be in the league with your son. This guy is it's everything related to LeBron James and Bronny.
It's not so much about him being drafted. But the biggest story is one of the most prominent athletes that that we've seen in American sports history flattened period. He's the only active athlete on planet Earth. Forget Tiger Woods.
Okay. This is the only active athlete on planet Earth who is a billionaire. Got drafted at 18 has more points than anybody's ever picked up a ball. And in the annals of history. Oh, my God, I got to tell you what is on television right now.
We'll get to that in a second. Tyrese Halliburton is in Madison Square Garden. I will explain in the annals of sports history. Kyle Philipowski will just be it'd be a laughingstock, possibly LeBron James playing with his son. This is something in the record books. We'll see. This is the biggest story.
We'll see. And speaking of why Tyrese Halliburton is in Madison Square Garden. This is pretty ridiculous right now. WWE Smackdown is in New York City. Tyrese Halliburton just tried to help a guy win a wrestling match with brass knuckles until Jalen Brunson of the New York Knicks jumped over the barricade and tried to stop him from you can't make this stuff up. And a good was a L.A. night one because Jalen Brunson stopped the guy from it.
You can't make this stuff up. WWE has been here before. It was only a few years ago that Trae Young, who's now missing his partner and De'Jaunte Murray, who's been traded to the New Orleans Pelicans. Good job, Hawks, for being average team even after a trade.
I remember Trae Young played the bad guy role at Madison Square Garden, and now the Knicks have Tyrese Halliburton. World-class entertainment is what it is. I'm only gonna be here for another, I don't know, 45, 40 minutes. And there's new, I didn't expect to see NBA news on WWE Smackdown. Like I can't even think of what's gonna happen next. I know Aaron Judge is occupied, but maybe he goes and gives somebody a stone-cold stunner or something.
I don't have no idea. Yankees have bigger issues and worries. The Yankees are currently beating the Blue Jays 7-4. Yankees have been due to go out here and start turning things around.
Aaron Judge, two of three on the night, no home runs. Yet. What a world we live in. Colton, do we got any more? Not that you got a crystal ball. Is anything else gonna happen in the rest of the show?
I don't know. It's been a sort of wacky Friday, hasn't it? It's what happens on Fridays.
Be careful, it's Friday night in New York. Gonna be real wacky by the time you walk out the door, right? That is definitely the case, JR. You said you get on the path back to your car?
That is correct, yeah. So what does that mean? Is it gonna be somebody sleeping on a train? You gotta tell somebody to shut up. Somebody's gonna curse somebody out.
What does that look like on a Friday? I've been very blessed for the over two years I've been working here, that I haven't had any knock on wood. There ain't any wood in this place. So I'll have to find something in here to knock on. But knock on wood, I've been very blessed with my commute. I haven't had to worry about anything strange or wacky on the trains or anything. Knock on wood.
Okay. You still have to walk the streets of New York, so that's weird enough. And again, thankfully, knock on wood again, I'm gonna probably jinx myself with this Friday the way it's going. But I've been very blessed. I haven't seen anything crazy.
I mean, it also helps that I'm 6'3". I've been very blessed. I've been very blessed. I haven't seen anything crazy. I've been very blessed. I mean, it also helps that I'm 6'3".
That might help that, you know. You haven't seen anything crazy? No, I have not. No.
Nothing crazy. In New York? No, not in the area of, uh, here, uh, our audacity station. There's a man who sleeps on top of an ATM machine right downstairs. Haven't seen it. I don't know where an ATM machine is underneath of us, either.
I don't say that. No. The bank? The bank on the corner downstairs?
No. No bank on the corner, at least the way I walk. Could be the other corner. Oh, you know, you are right. There's a Chase to the right. I just don't go that way very often.
That is correct. Yeah, there's a man that sleeps, and they go ask him for a dollar. You know what?
It'd be funny, right? Ask him for a dollar? He might have it. A role reversal. Listen, the bank belongs to him. The Chase just doesn't know yet.
They don't. That bank belongs to that man. Anyway, 855-212-4227. It has been a wacky Friday. I hope you're good and safe and cool and smooth wherever you are. It's the JR Sport Reshow here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. I told you I had a smooth day. Here in Atlanta, Georgia, I stopped by the press conference for Zachary Risaget.
I'm getting the hang of it. And then also caught up with a cornerback for the Atlanta Falcons. His name is AJ Sorrell. He was helping out an organization called HBC Youth as they had their field day. I had to stop by and see what was going on.
And I'm like, this is a cool program. You know what? I'm going to let you hear the conversation that I had with them on the other side of the break. And then also we'll get you the news. And then I'll tell you about all the amazing things that took place this day in sports history. I'll give you a teaser. I mean, there's home runs.
There's even biting. I'll explain. We'll get there.
It's the JR Sport Reshow, the Infinity Sports Network. I love Portland. He said Portland.
It don't matter what part of Oregon. I will go to Oregon for a beer. Two beers, three, four.
Trying to watch the calories though. So maybe it may be a fake beer. Colton, you ever had one of them fake beers, some fake ones? Thankfully not. No.
Oh, damn. You should try one. Try, try fake beer. Slip it in between a real couple of real ones.
Have a fake one. I'll just slip in the water. How about that?
Is that better? Oh, Oh my God. Fake beers are not that bad, but I'll take a real beer. I'll go to Portland for a real beer. Sign me up.
855-212-4227. You know, we talked about a lot of crazy things tonight this week. Kyle Filipowski and his fiancé slash alleged former babysitter slash groomer slash I don't know, alleged everything. Talked about Bronny James. Good for him. Atlanta Hawks finally trade.
Somebody's not Trey Young. They get rid of DeJounte Murray. They send him to New Orleans. Good for DeJounte. Be on a good team down there. I love New Orleans.
Man, I could go to New Orleans for beer and a whole lot of other things. What a wild week. NHL draft as well. I still can't believe I saw Jerome McGintless kid get drafted to Utah. Whoa, Utah hockey club. Can't wait to hear what the real name is.
They'll probably end up keeping that one because it's stupid. NBA free agencies coming up, NFL class action lawsuit. There's so much going on in the world, as we all know, is it's full of negativity, right? Well, this morning I had me a positive experience. I had to go outside to get it. I had to leave my house, but I went outside and had a positive experience at Morehouse College, famed HBCU alma mater of a Martin Luther King Jr. Okay, Morehouse College. And I went to the football field.
Why? Because today they had a program, a field day for a program called Camp HBCU. HBCU's historically black colleges and universities. This program, HBCU is a summer program started by Reagan Fresnel. And the idea is to give young men and women an opportunity to yes, go through a summer program, but then also have it take place on the campuses of HBCUs. So young people don't just get any experience.
They also get a tightly knit community experience where they, they can learn and be empowered and hopefully move on towards greater things through education and trade and what have you. But today was field day. Everybody loves field day. Colton, you love field day in school.
You loved it, right? Every kid's gotta love field day, JR. You gotta love field day. I love field day. And what type of field day can you have when you bring in a local football player?
Someone who's actually from the community, someone like Falconstar, AJ Toreau, who plays corner. And so today was field day on Morehouse College's campus for Camp HBCU. And so I stopped by and I chatted it up with Reagan and AJ, and I asked them about this program and why they do it, why AJ is participating. And then of course I had to ask AJ about, you know, Pennix and cousins. I had to get that in there too.
Listen to the conversation I had with them earlier today. It was awesome. It's the JR sport re-show Coast to Coast on the Infinity Sports Network. We're here in Atlanta, Georgia. We got something cool going on right now. HBC Youth, introduce yourself.
Hi, my name is Reagan Fresnel, founder of Camp HBC Youth. Awesome. And I told you we have another guest. He stops all the quarterbacks in the NFL. Fill him in, brother. Come on, man.
AJ Toreau, cornerback for Atlanta Falcons. Listen, it's a, it's a Friday. We know the NBA draft is done. It took two days, but here in Atlanta, we got something cool going on. For everybody listening all across the country, Reagan, listen, what is HBC Youth? Camp HBC Youth is a community program where we partner with different HBCU campuses to bring youth initiatives to the local community. So here in Atlanta, we are partnered with Morehouse College. We service elementary students, kindergarten through fifth grade, and we are also an education-based program.
Awesome. And for somebody like you, you're from here in Atlanta, Georgia. You went to high school. We know you went up to Clemson.
Now you play for the Falcons. Why is participating in a program like this good? It's important, you know, just any way of, you know, just giving back and, you know, having fun doing it, just being a voice for the kids and letting them see me face to face instead of just, you know, on TV and things like that.
Just being here for them to go out here and have fun and be a part of it is something good for the kids as well. Why is this something, Reagan, that you wanted to do specifically on HBCU campuses? I'm a proud HBCU alumna of Spelman College.
HBCUs run through my blood, my family, also our HBCU alumna. So we want to just give early exposure to youth about HBCUs and plant those seeds early that they can also hopefully attend one day. Now AJ, you've been through the gamut, not just in education, but also athletics. Why and how is it important to use athletics to also teach folks something, especially young people? Yeah, just, well, learning how to be around people is the main thing. And then, you know, just, you know, sports take you a long way.
I mean, it took me a long way, but it's the people I met along the road and that, you know, helped motivate me to, you know, stay on the path that I was on. And, you know, just seeing people, you know, like I had everybody always got role models and, you know, sports and things that they like, and then seeing the paths that they go on and being able to relate back to the kids and, you know, be a shed of light for them to follow their dreams. It's the JR Sport Pre-Show here Coast to Coast. When you think about a field day specifically, why an event like this, Ray? An event like this, we also, like you said, we want to enhance athleticism in these children early in wellness.
That's the main theme of this week is health and wellness. So AJ just being the perfect advocate for that was why we decided to partner and have a great field day. So we also just have some fun during the summer months of summer camp. So we want them to have fun and just be outside as much as possible. Educate everybody on where they can find out more information.
You all can find out more about Camp HBCUs on our website at www.camphbcus.com. And where can people follow you as you stop quarterbacks and help the community? Yeah man, Instagram AJTure underscore eight. You know, people are going to be mad at me if I don't ask you. How are both quarterbacks looking, man? Oh no, they looking good. You know, it's a real competition going on. You know, you know, we'll see more when camp comes. You know, that's when, that's when it really hit the fan. So the real competition come alive during camp.
But, you know, both quarterbacks looking real good right now and, you know, let the coaches decide on that. I appreciate everything y'all doing for here in Atlanta and the community. Yeah, I appreciate them. And shout outs to AJ Terrell of the Atlanta Falcons and shout outs to Reagan Fresnel of HBCU.
All these wild stories that we have in the world of sports. We needed a little bit of positivity. And Marco, you like positivity, right?
Always. We all love, Marco, you love field day as well. Remember field day? I'm pretty sure we didn't have field day, but it sounded cool and my kids seem to like it a lot. Your kids like, you just run around a bunch of cones and jump and stuff. Come on. Yeah, as I said, the kids seem to love it. The oldest seems to really, really like it.
Well, because listen, any day that you don't have to physically go inside the school and hang outside is best. Damn right. It is. So I had to inject some positivity in what has been a wild sports week. Marco, what do you think is the biggest story in sports?
We have Kyle Filipowski story, which continues to evolve. We had Bronny. We got the Atlanta Hawks trade. We got the Knicks.
I just saw I just saw Jalen Brunson at WWE Smackdown. What do you think the biggest sports JJ Redick got hired? What's the biggest story in sports this week? You know, I think it's just the Lakers in general, just because of the JJ Redick and LeBron James and the Bronny James. And it's kind of like whether or not it's winning is the most important thing, or if it's putting together the circus and being relevant and, you know, all the stuff that we accuse the Cowboys of rightfully so the fact that it's just more important to be noticed than it is to actually win.
Are the Lakers going down that road or is this all about winning? I don't really have a great answer, other than the fact that I don't really think that the Bronny James thing is an issue by any stretch. I mean, let's be fair. The top overall pick, we all were kind of like, wait, who? And now we're worried about who went 55th overall and whether or not he deserved it. So I think it's a little bit over the top in the NBA. But I do wonder, be careful. Go ahead, finish.
No, I do wonder if the Lakers, if the real, I don't know, main goal is to be relevant and to be the Lakers brand or if it's to win another title. And I don't really have an answer for that. Now, Marco, watch your mouth now, because you mentioned the number one overall pick. I met Zachary Risache today. I met him. He's a nice guy. I'm sure he's a great kid, but let's be fair.
No, no. And this is not this is just the way the NBA is gone. And this is the way the game is evolved.
And it is what it is. But we we treat like first round picks or second round picks in the NBA. Oh, no, no, that's how you build your roster.
The top two guys, no one's ever heard of before about a month ago. So the idea that I'm worried about who went 55th overall, who's going to get stashed in Germany for a year so you can save $3 million. This is not the NFL. At least at least Zachary Risache didn't allegedly get kind of, how do I say this, just snatched up by his alleged babysitter and jettisoned from his family.
At least that didn't happen. See, I didn't want to go down that road because I don't even completely understand that whole story, because as weird as that whole thing is, what part of like the conversation did every team go, wait, can we really draft this guy? Like, what do you care what he's doing in his private life? This guy, this guy left his parents to be with her. So what do you think he's going to do? Not going to show up to practice? Like what's your concern here? Yes. Like what?
Hey, there's something loose up here, man. Well, maybe, but is he not seven feet? Can he not, does he not have good footwork? Like I don't understand that. Did his game change?
We know he's not, if he was that good, nobody would care. Well, that's what I mean. Like, so the idea that he dropped in the draft because of this, he dropped in the draft because you don't believe in him. Oh, that and that put it over the edge. This is what put it over. That's what I'm saying. Like, where did we go? We got guys that like, you know, you don't know where they are because they're doing things that they shouldn't be doing. And you're concerned whether or not they're going to be in jail at night. This guy, this is what your concern is, whether or not he's talking to his parents. What do you care? Well, it's more than that. She may say, hey, you made enough money.
Stay home with me. The basketball stuff is done. You know what? You never know.
And that would save you how much off the cap that they didn't seem to care about for the 26th pick? I mean, to me, this is, it's an interesting story. I'm curious, like the rest of us, I find it hard to believe that guys in the front office really care about whether or not his wife controls you at home. Like that to me is odd. She snatched, she allegedly snatched him up when he was in high school. And that's strange. And that shouldn't be tolerated.
She was the alleged babysitter. But I feel like teams in the NBA are more concerned with, can you rebound? Do you play defense? Can you block out? Not, not enough, not enough to bring him in in a headache. Listen, if that man, that's the headache. No, but not that the other part, if they felt he could go out there and give him 2010 easy, they'd bring him in.
They would not give a damn. But the fact that he is a little slow and look, I've seen him play. I've seen him play.
He kind of slow. No, I know. But that's why.
So to me, that's why he fell. This is all just fodder and nonsense. But it's a part of it. It's a factor. It factors in.
I think it's factor in way too damn much. When is the, so let me ask you this. When is the last time you heard about a prospect that was allegedly groomed by his babysitter? This is new for me. There you go. There you go. There you go. There we go. Okay. JR, it seems like you're falling towards my side on this, by the way, by the way, this is the biggest story. It sure seems like it seems like you've changed your tone a little bit JR. Sorry to tell you, listen to this.
No, the Lakers are the biggest story. I don't know. I just sat back and listened to this JR. I'm sure you tried to sell to Marco. I don't know, man. The biggest Jerry Springer trashy story is Filipowski. Okay. There's a difference.
I don't know, man. I just listened to you try to sell to Marco for a few minutes here. I sat back and I smiled and Marco looked at me. I got to tell you, this has been great. This has been great sell for me. Thank you, JR. I think you've sold my story. Thank you. Marco, what the heck were you and I talking about?
I'm not sure. I think it was the flashing candy in the Jerry Springer story of the Filipowski and whether or not you should be groomed by your wife at 18. Yeah, not the biggest story in sports, but it's the trashiest. It's definitely the trashiest. I wouldn't call it the biggest because again, we're talking about a guy who went in the second round. This is not the biggest story.
It's definitely the trashiest. Second round, same thing about Bronny James, even though everyone knew it for months on end. Oh my gosh, come on. It's a historical story. It's not historical.
JR told us years ago that he wanted to play with Bronny. It's historic. The story.
It's not about him being drafted. We all knew it was happening. It's more. That's not it. One day.
How about this? Unless we got technology, one day I know that an asteroid will hit earth and then all nothing will be here. I don't know if it'll be a million generations after this. I know it's going to happen. There was one that hit the earth.
I don't know how many hundreds of million gazillion years ago. Just because, you know, something is going to look. How about this? This sounds disastrous. This is a real disaster. Come November, there will be a disaster one way or the other. We know it's going to happen.
That does not mean that history will not take place. You understand? Is that the Atlanta Hawks? Is that the disaster? No, no, no, no, that's not the disaster in November. And Marco knows. Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah. I think all of us need to know what that is. There's there's a disaster coming in November. We got a tease of it last night. Whatever whichever one it is, there's a disaster. And just because, you know, it's coming.
Doesn't mean it's like a mother in law. OK. All right. Oh, boy. Come on. It's Friday. Can I say, Marco, can I say no, no, no.
Go ahead, please. You say it. This is not I'm not. I got to be careful.
I was going to say I'm not talking about basketball players from South Carolina. So I can, you know, say what I want. Look, it's like a mother in law, a mother in law. She's going to come.
She's going to spend a couple of days. You know, it's going to happen and you know what's going to happen. That doesn't change the fact that it happens. And it's an event we've known for years that LeBron wants, wanted to play with Bronny. Was it a guarantee? No, but it was highly likely. And it happened. And the fact that it did happen, it's a big story because there's so many other elements that now factor in to what happens afterwards.
Big deal. Kyle for Lepowski, you'll be on TMZ next week and Danny Ainge will be like, what's going on at home? And maybe he plays, maybe he doesn't. And people will laugh at him and that'll be the end of it.
LeBron James is going to be talked about for the next forever, until some kid from France in another 40 years breaks his scoring record. That's how it goes. It's the JR Sport Reshow on the Infinity Sports Network. When we come back, it's the JR Sport Reshow here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. Man, we've had such a full show.
Before we leave, of course, I got to do this. I got to tell you about a bunch of things that happened this day in sports history. It's June 28th. On the JR Sport Reshow.
I wish I was 50 years younger and I'd kick your ass. June 28th in 1992, the dream team formed like Voltron. They were getting warmed up for the Olympics in Barcelona.
But before that, they had to take on Cuba and they smashed them. The final score. Hey, listen, take this is NBC in 1992. Listen to the score. The chant of USA from this crowd of 12,000 plus at the Memorial Coliseum. 10 seconds to go. The green putting the move on Mullen, along with the rebound. And that will wrap it.
Well, the crowd loved the conclusion. The final score in the United States, 136 and Cuba, 57. Now that's an asshole, but I don't know if Cuba still plays basketball, but they shouldn't. June 28th, 1997.
I know what Cuba does do. They like the box. On this day, some guy named Mike Tyson, but a guy named Evander Holyfield. And it sounded like this. It's over. It's over. During that replay. Bill's lane, signaling that it's over.
I think they've just about had enough. Tyson showing desperation and fighting Holyfield two times. Yes. Crazy.
Yeah. Mike Tyson got disqualified. Anyway, June 28th and now he sells ear ear shaped candy, marijuana, whatever.
June 28th. Let's go to 2009 because Mariano Rivera had saved number 500. Listen to this courtesy of MLB. Everybody loves Mariano Rivera.
Some Diamondback fans really love him. Mariano finished with 652 saves. The only other guy with 600 is Trevor Hoffman who beat him to 500.
Mariano ended up with more. Let's go to June 28th, the year 2012. We talked about the Lakers having a big old week.
Some guy with a unibrow. Well, he was drafted number one overall in 2012. With the first pick in the 2012 NBA draft, the new Orleans Hornets select Anthony Davis. Yeah.
Whoop dee doo. Congratulations to Anthony Davis. Hey man, there's so many things that happened this day in sports, June 28th.
And these are some examples. Muhammad Ali. He had his draft dodging conviction overturned by the Supreme court. That was in 71. Frank Thomas this day, June 28th, 2007, he hit his 500th career home run. Craig Biggio also got his 3000 hit shutouts to the Astros. And then I guess in sad news, Greg Oden was drafted by the blazers this day in 2007.
And then Kevin Durant was selected after him. So at least Kevin Durant can have himself a good day. Speaking of a good day, I hope you've had a good day. I hope you've had a good week. I hope you've had a good afternoon a good afternoon and good evening, whatever the hell it is.
I just hope that you're good. Hey Colton, thank you for hanging out today. This was fun, man. I appreciate it. Always a great time, Jr. You didn't have to hit the dump button.
I didn't get fired over the course of the show. Everything is good. It was amazing. I'll take care of you, Jr. Told you there'd be no issues. We're gonna have a smooth Friday, a little bit wacky news, but yeah, the news is getting through it.
